Transformers/Terminator

I just got the first issue of what is one of the wackiest series I have ever seen. The Terminator is sent back to save the Autobots from all being killed by the Decepticons. And Skynet is on the side of keeping humanity alive. What a way to flip the script! the CBR review didn't do this issue justic...

Re: Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

I think that the Sequel Trilogy could have been much better with a unified vision. Instead of being spread out over two different directors with entirely different agendas. The story there could have been made to feel even more epic. Instead of the rather disjointed mess, we ended up with.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

My DVD came in the mail early today. A day before the scheduled release. And I watched it. I'm not going to do a moment by moment analysis of the movie. But overall I felt it paid enough homage to the rest of the movie series to be a good conclusion. Rey really took a beating in this movie. Yes, the...

Re: Power of the reboot.

You also get a lot less story per issue than you used to. You have to pay quite a bit to get a full arc that used to be able to be told in a single issue Yes, Because they adopted the decompressed storytelling method. You don't get writers creating in the same broad strokes as they used to. Instead...

Re: Power of the reboot.

When the New 52 started. the big two comic book companies tore 10 pages out of every comic book. Reducing them from 32 pages to 22. And still raised cover prices. A price increase in two ways. This was a sharp reduction in what customers got. And they still had the audacity to raise prices. This was...

Re: Power of the reboot.

The problem with Reboots is this: None of them have ever worked. None of them do anything but alienate existing customers. While potential new customers pay no attention. The current problem with comics comes down to their cover price. They have become way too expensive to sustain themselves. People...

Re: Terminator: Dark Fate

Watch the Dark Fate screen rant 'Pitch Meeting' episode on YouTube, it points out some of the issues people had with the movie in a humourous manner. I have. I didn't find them funny. What I saw was a couple of people who thought they were funny raining contempt down on the movie. Expressing pure h...

Re: Terminator: Dark Fate

The depiction of the Border Patrol in this movie was pretty neutral. They were treated as a Terminator's pawns that were being manipulated from within. The Border Patrol was not depicted as villains. But as victims of the Terminator. Like everybody else. As for the successor to John Conner being Mex...

Terminator: Dark Fate

This film was made as James Cameron's last word on the Terminator franchise. And some people have criticized it for being political. But I just watched this movie. And I didn't find it overly so. It was a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. John Conner was killed by a remaining Terminator ...

Doctor Mirage

I have followed this character through several limited series. Which I have the collected editions of. I like the character. But this latest 5 issue limited series? It was a disjointed mess. I really didn't enjoy it. It wasn't the art that put me off. It was the writing. It just didn't draw me in. A...

Honorable mention: Jim Varney

I have always been a fan of the Ernest movies. They are good clean comedy. Something I watch when I just want something light and happy. I'm never going to forget his unique style of comedy. And I think the world is much lesser since his passing. His style of comedy is something sorely lacking from ...

Re: A taste of my superhero campaign world.

The first superhumans were the ancient gods. Born of the earth to be a part of its immune system. They are but a single expression of that immune system. The other most famous expression of it is the Kaiju. Though the relation between the two is not publicly known. Earth itself is a sentient creatur...

Re: Spider-Man - Far From Home - Trailer

The surprise at the end made me laugh myself sick. It was the one thing that had been missing from the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies! It was just perfect!

Re: A taste of my superhero campaign world.

I wanted a differing take in the world. And not have to retread the old mass hatred of superhumans trope that came to dominate the big two comic book companies. I wanted my world to be different. And in some ways, a bit saner. The greatest hope of any hero is to change the world for the better. And ...

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

I got this on DVD today, I watched it and enjoyed it. Regardless of all the bad opinions of it. It's a movie I could really appreciate. How does it match up to X-Men: The Last Stand? The comparisons I feel are unfair. This movie did what it set out to do. Tell a decent Dark Phoenix story. It wasn't ...
