-Many of the ancient relatives of Elephants werer barely larger than a Tapir. Moeritherium is a small Proboscidian (only 580 lbs. or so) that died out millennia ago, and is thought to be an offshoot of the main line, not an ancestor of it. They have very small, tapir-like trunks and are hog/tapir-shaped. Palaeomastodon looks more Elephant-like with small trunks, but were similarly-sized.

-Many types of Proboscidians were subject to "Island Dwarfism", where populations end up on smaller portions of land, and smaller animals are more likely to survive, because they can get by on less food, and reach adult size more quickly. This can happen in only a handful of generations by the standards of evolution, and kind of explains why evolution works the way it does- it can be much quicker than you'd think. There are suggestions that many such Mammoths ended up on small islands by SWIMMING there, which is funny to think about. Also, quite amazingly, there is evidence that these isolated populations survived for centuries longer than their contemporaries, with some believed to have lived until the time the PYRAMIDS were built!
-Pygmy Mammoths are scaled-up, PL 7 versions of smaller creatures, hitting PL 6.5 overall.

-This build represents a chunk of elephant-relatives, most of whom were around this big. There's Stegomastodon & Notiomastodon (from South America) and Cuvieronius (among the first ancient elephants studied- initially, Spaniards and natives alike had imagined these bones to be those of giant humans). Prodeinotherium, a smaller version of the huge Deinotherium, is known from specimens all over Eurasia, and was about Asian Elephant-sized.

-Amebelodons are the iconic "Shovel-Tuskers", ancient Proboscidians known for their gigantic, flat, cudgel-shaped lower tusks, which were probably used for multiple purposes- wear on them indicates they were used for shoveling up plants, scraping bark from trees, and more. Their upper tusks are similar to Elephants, but much shorter. Their trunks are little-known, but were probably similar to modern Elephants- there's little evidence for the shorter trunk most artists give them. Most hailed from around modern North America.
-Amebelodons are 5-ish tons, so I made them similar to the Asian Elephant.

The general consensus amongst academics is that fossil skulls of Pleistocene dwarf elephants, commonly found in coastal caves of Greece, are the most likely origin of the cyclops stories.[A]mong the first ancient elephants studied- initially, Spaniards and natives alike had imagined these bones to be those of giant humans[.]
Frankly, when looking at an elephant skull, I can totally believe that it belongs to some monstrous humanoid and not a giant quadruped with a snake for a nose... and unlike the pre-historic Greeks, I know that elephants exist! I mean, look at the thing:

-Ancient relatives of modern Elephants, Gomphotheres hailed from Eurasia and the Americas. They looked primitive by Elephant standards, being shorter and sporting four squat tusks, two on the upper jaw and two on the lower. Unlike modern elephants, the upper tusks were covered by enamel. The longer skull indicates that the nose may have been shorter, like a Tapir's, and the animals probably lived near swamps.
-Gomphotheres were about 8 feet tall and 5 tons, similar to African Forest Elephants.

-Deinotheriums are Elephant relatives with shorter trunks and smaller, curved tusks only on the lower jaw, pointing downwards. The purpose for these is unknown- it could be for shoveling, stripping bark, or pulling down branches. Even larger than African Elephants, these are true giants- one male was 13 feet tall, and 14 tons. Truly, they earn the name "Terrible Beast".

-They gave a pretty awful name to one of the most spectacular Proboscidians- a FOUR-TUSKED MEGA-ELEPHANT. Stegotetrabelodon had four huge, straight tusks, two on top and two below. As Davies notes, they were an inspiration for the Mumakil from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, though those are of course even bigger. They're about the size of African Elephants- 13 feet tall and 12-14 tons.

-Stegodon was one of the largest Proboscidians, and was once very common throughout Asia, even moreso than the modern Asian Elephant. There is some evidence to suggest that they died out only 4,000 or so years ago, and were more robust than modern elephants.
-Stegodons match the power of the African Elephant, being 12 feet tall and about 12-14 tons.
