Ursa: Earth-T1

The killing. That's my favorite part. Zod -- strong, sure, brilliant Zod -- doesn't understand that. He finds victory in planning, in preparation, in the discovery of every little detail. He calls that strategy. He calls that tactics. There's a better word for it. Anticipation. And that's why he is the general... and I am the weapon. - Ursa

Patriotism: She is loyal to Krypton and its people.

Relationships: Faora, in her strange way, does love her son, Lor-Zod (Chris Kent) and her longtime lover, General Zod, but sometimes she has…interesting ways of showing it.
Vulnerable: Faora is as vulnerable to magic as anyone else. Her Toughness is not Impervious against magical attacks and he loses her ranks of Protection.
Weakness: Kryptonite...Its radiation saps the Strength and powers of Kryptonians, leaving them impaired, disabled, and eventually debilitated in terms of Strength and power effects. Long-term exposure (usually a matter of minutes, less for a large enough amount) imposes the dying condition and may lead to death.

Abilities 106 + Skills 28 (56 ranks) + Advantages 12 + Powers 144 + Defenses 13 = 303 / 303

Build Comments: So of course, when I was growing up, the original 1980 Superman movie with Christopher Reeve was the standard for superhero movies until Spider-Man ushered in the new era. As such I was always an Ursa man, no matter how many times they tried to make the switch to Faora.

I built Ursa to be the quick, martial artist type fighter of the trio. She’s not as powerful as the others, but she is the best natural fighter of the 3, able to give Clark as good a fight as Zod because of her speed and skill.

Secret Origins: Ursa was a proud young commander, leading the elite Black Zero unit. When the Kryptonian Science Council discovered that two of their most revered scientists, Jor-El and Non, had determined that in a short matter of time, Krypton would suffer geothermic upheavel that would destroy the entire planet, they branded the two as heretics sent General Zod and his militants to Jor-El's laboratory to arrest he and Non. Ursa was in charge of placing the two scientists under arrest and handing them over to the council. The Science Council administered a stern warning to them, and set them free.

The Story so Far: Ursa, Non and Zod remained in the Phantom Zone for many years. During this time, Zod and she mated and produced a son, Lor-Zod.

Zod, Ursa and Non have escapted the Zone on a handful occasions, but eventually they are defeated and returned.

Characterization: Ursa is a ruthless warrior and killer. She is loyal to Zod and sees Non as more of a pet than anything and has little maternal instinct, threatening Chris’ life at least twice to further Zod’s ends.

Friends and Foes: Zod and Non are her allies, and she shares Zod’s rivalry with Superman. She also has strong rivalries with Power Girl, Supergirl and Wonder Woman.

DEFENSES:
Dodge +6 [DC16] Parry +7 [DC17]
Toughness +19 (+9 Impervious), Fortitude +15, Will +3

COMPLICATIONS:
Conflicted: While Non is very loyal to Zod, he sometimes finds his more gentle nature fighting against his orders.
Mental Instability: Due to his lobotomy, Non sometimes suffer radical moods swings and can have trouble processing information.
Power Loss: Non loses his powers and his Str and Sta are reduced to 5 under a red sun, like that of Krypton, and other effects draining or interfering with the energies of the yellow sun can deprive him of his powers.
Relationships: He is loyal to General Zod, Ursa and their son, Lor-Zod (Chris Kent). Vulnerable: Non is as vulnerable to magic as anyone else. His Toughness is not Impervious against magical attacks and he loses his ranks of Protection.

Abilities 68 + Skills 6 (12 ranks) + Advantages 6 + Powers 155 + Defenses 13 = 248 / 248

Build Comments: Non is a brute that is stronger than Superman and tougher, but not nearly as capable in combat or strategy. But, he can lay a hurting on Superman and keep him away from Zod for a good while, allowing whatever plan he has cooked up to come to fruition.

Secret Origins: Non was one of General Zod’s best soldiers, a huge man with great natural fighting instincts and power. However, during a routine training exercise, a large beam broke loose and Non was struck in the head by it while pushing another cadet out of the way. He suffered serious head trauma and despite the best Kryptonian medical care, from that time forward he had severe mental retardation. Zod took pity on him and kept him as part of his inner circle and Non repaid Zod’s loyalty with his own.

The Story so Far: Non traveled with Zod to Earth and has battled Superman many times. He is currently in the Phantom Zone with Zod, Ursa and other Kryptonian criminals.

Characterization: Non has severe mental retardation due to his accident. He can barely speak and pretty much just does with Zod and Ursa (and Lor-Zod) tell him.

Friends and Foes: He is extremely loyal to Zod and Ursa, moreso to Zod but he is also very loyal to Lor-Zod. This has caused him great internal conflict, but more often than not, he has helped Lor-Zod when he needed it, which has gotten him in great trouble with Zod.

Special Attack [Kryptonite Beam +11/+10, Cone Area]

DEFENSES:
Dodge +7 [DC17] Parry +8 [DC18]
Toughness +14 (+7 Impervious), Fortitude Immune, Will +5

COMPLICATIONS:
Disability: Metallo can’t smell, taste or really feel anything.
Hatred: He hates Superman and also Lex Luthor for making him what he is.
Mental Instability: The loss of his senses has affected his mental state making him very volatile and unpredictable.
Motivation: Greed and somehow becoming normal again.
Weakness: If his Kryptonite heart is removed or damaged, he becomes paralyzed until the heart is replaced or he can be repaired.

Abilities 46 + Skills 11 (22 ranks) + Advantages 9 + Powers 73 + Defenses 9 = 148 / 148

Build Comments: I always liked Metallo as a Superman foil. I think his best incarnation is his Animated Series version, especially since Malcolm McDowell did his voice and the British accent is SO FREAKIN’ AWESOME FOR VILLAINY. So that’s what this Thorpocaverse version is based on more than his comic canon, or especially the New 52 version.

Secret Origins: John Corben was an English criminal-for-hire, who was involved in a plot by Lex Luthor to sell the LEXO-SKEL SUIT 5000 to Kasnian terrorists. Corben was caught by Superman and jailed, but while in jail he contracted a rare and lethal disease. Luthor offered him a chance at new life, as a cyborg, by having his mind transplanted into a robotic body; a Dr. Vale assisted in the procedure. Corben's new body, made of a revolutionary new metal called Metallo, was powered by a kryptonite "heart", which Corben was eager to use against Superman in revenge for taking him in.

The Story so Far: At first, Corben reveled in his new body, but when he learned it had no sense of touch - no way to sense even a simple kiss or the taste of an apple - the sensory deprivation drove him insane and he took to referring to himself as Metallo. When Superman later revealed to Corben that Luthor himself had arranged for Corben to get ill while in prison, Corben turned on Luthor, but in the battle he was thrown off of Lex's yacht, and his non-buoyant body sank.

Metallo walked across the ocean floor, eventually reaching the shore of a small island that Superman was helping to evacuate due to an impending volcanic eruption. Initially, Metallo had no memory of who he or Superman were, and befriended two children on the island (the son and daughter of one of the seismologists studying the eruption). Metallo did eventually regain his memory and attacked Superman, but was caught in the lava flow. It cooled around him, leaving only part of his head and one arm exposed, the rest trapped in rock. Unable to free himself, he began to recite his name and history to himself, so he would not forget again. Metallo was eventually rescued and repaired by Intergang and he returned to plague Superman once more. In the course of this encounter, he had a battle against Steel (John Henry Irons), who had come to Superman's aid and was defeated by him when Irons' hammer smashed his kryptonite heart.

Metallo has since been repaired continues to return to plague Superman time and again.

Characterization: Corben is a career mercenary and criminal that desires power but has been driven insane by his condition. He will work for anyone (except Lex Luthor, of course) that can get him the resources he needs to become normal again.

Friends and Foes: He has a great hatred for Superman that is only equaled by his hatred for Lex Luthor.

Close Attack +3
Unarmed +6 [Unarmed +14]
Ranged Attack +0
Heat Vision +8 [Heat Vision +12]
Special Attack [Super Breath Move Object +10, Cone Area]

COMPLICATIONS:
Power Loss: Superman loses his powers and his Str and Sta are reduced to 3 under a red sun, like that of Krypton, and other effects draining or interfering with the energies of the yellow sun can deprive him of his powers.
Relationships: Superman’s closest relationship is with his wife, Lois Lane. Other important people in his life include his mother and father, Martha and Jonathan Kent, his cousin, Supergirl, his adopted sons, Conner and Chris Kent, and friends and co-workers Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and Catherine “Cat” Grant. In the superhero community he is close to Batman, Wonder Woman and Thor. And of course, his loyal dog, Krypto.
Responsibility: Superman feels a strong sense of responsibility to use his powers for the benefit of all.
Secret Identity: Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet.
Vulnerable: Kryptonians are as vulnerable to magic as anyone else. They lose their ranks of Protection and their Toughness is not Impervious against magical attacks.

Abilities 56 + Skills 9 (18 ranks) + Advantages 4 + Powers 71 + Defenses 10 = 150 / 150

Build Comments: So in restarting the PC Superstore here on the new board, I had to stick with my tradition of starting out my threads with Superman. And now that I am bringing all builds home, I had to start this importing process with The Man of Steel as well.

I feel pretty good about the build this time. As should be obvious, you can’t get everything someone like Superman can do, or at the power levels he’s shown over the years, into a PL10/150 pt build, but my goal with PCs is always making them feel like the big name character I’m trying to represent. I think this version has his feel.

And this time, I swear I will actually test some of these PCs!

Well, swear is a strong word.

Strongly support and plan to test, is closer.

Actually, let’s go with “hope to test”.

Hatred: Doomsday hates all things Kryptonian and can sense Kryptonian life-forms due to the nature of its origins.

Abilities 82 + Skills 15 (30 ranks) + Advantages 14 + Powers 199 + Defenses 13 = 323 / 323

Build Comments: My take on Doomsday. Not a lot of changes from my other post. I had to add the Mind Trap instead of leaving it to Power Stunting and I wanted him to have that Bone Spur Aura because it’s bad ass. I also lowered his dodge and parry because, really, he’s freakin' Doomsday. He doesn’t need to avoid much of anything.

I also altered his Immunity because he’s not really immune to affects that have killed him before, you just can’t kill him again the same way. The Radiant’s light damage and Superman’ punches continue to hurt him even after they’ve killed him before, but they can’t kill him anymore.

Secret Origins: Originally known as "The Ultimate", Doomsday was born in prehistoric times on Krypton, long before the humanoid Kryptonian race gained dominance over the planet about 250,000 years ago. It was a violent, hellish world where only the absolute strongest of creatures could survive. In a cruel experiment involving evolution, intended to create the perfect living being, the alien scientist Bertron released a humanoid infant (born in vitro in a lab) onto the surface of the planet, where he was promptly killed by the harsh environment. The baby's remains were collected and used to clone a stronger version. This process was repeated over and over for decades as a form of accelerated natural evolution. The agony of these repeated deaths was recorded in his genes, driving the creature to hate all life.

As it evolved, the child eventually became able to survive the high temperatures and searing atmosphere, only to be quickly slain by the vicious predators that inhabited the planet. Over time, and without the assistance of Bertron's technology, he gained the ability to thrive on solar energy without the need for food or air, to return to life and adapt in order to overcome whatever had previously killed him. The Ultimate hunted and exterminated the dangerous predators of Krypton. He then killed Bertron himself, whom he had come to identify as an enemy.

The Ultimate escaped Krypton via a ship that regularly arrived to deliver supplies to Bertron (who had wanted little contact with the planet's natives) and went on a killing spree across several planets. It began 245,000 years earlier on Bylan 5, where Darkseid was about to wed a princess, in order to obtain that planet's chemical deposits for Apokolips' weapons factories. Just as the Ultimate and Darkseid were about to meet in combat, Darkseid was forced to flee, as the rampage of The Ultimate had caused the planet's atmosphere to become toxic, thereby rendering the chemicals worthless to Apokolips. The Ultimate hitched a ride on an escaping shuttle, which crashed on Khundia. The warring Khundian clans united in order to build protective armor for a warrior named Kobald, who they hoped would survive long enough to force the Ultimate onto a rocket. Once the rocket was in space, the Ultimate killed Kobald and the resulting explosion sent him hurling through space.

He next crossed paths with a Green Lantern named Zharan Pel. The Ultimate took the Lantern's power ring and, sensing the power of the Guardians of the Universe, headed toward them. The hundreds of Green Lanterns, that were sent to stop him were slaughtered. He continued to Oa, where a single Guardian sacrificed himself in battle to defeat him. The release of energies by the Guardian caused a tear in space through which the Ultimate fell.
Eventually arriving on the planet Calaton, he ravaged that world for three years. With only the capital city left, the royal family combined their life forces into a single energy being, the Radiant. The Radiant killed the Ultimate with a huge blast of energy, laying waste to over a fifth of his planet in the process. In common Calatonian burial procedures, the Ultimate's seemingly dead body was suited and shackled to prevent his spirit from escaping into the afterlife, and he was shot into space because the murders he committed made him unworthy of burial on Calaton. Eventually, his metallic casket crashed on Earth, the force of the impact driving it deep underground.

The Story so Far: After freeing one arm and smashing his way out of his burial vault, The Ultimate went on a rampage in Midwestern America, where he first encountered the Justice League. He defeated the entire team of superheroes in a matter of minutes, which in turn attracted the attention of Superman. Most notable is the fact that the creature fought the whole time with literally one hand tied behind his back (due to his ancient burial cables), yet was still able to lay waste to all opposition and much of the surrounding area. The only Justice Leaguer who could defend herself against the creature was Maxima. The creature gained its new name when League member Booster Gold remarked how the rampage resembled "the arrival of Doomsday". The comment reached the broadcast media and led to the creature becoming known by its new name of Doomsday. Five Leaguers, including Superman, combined their energy powers in an attempt to take Doomsday down, but succeeded only in destroying the last of his ancient burial cables, allowing him to use both hands.

During his rampage, Doomsday's interest was captured by billboards and television spots advertising violent wrestling competitions held in Metropolis, which appealed to his blood lust and thus enticed the otherwise mindless creature to head towards the city. In counterattacking the creature, Superman quickly found that his opponent's power was a match for his own, and he realized that if Doomsday actually reached Metropolis, the resulting battle could conceivably destroy the city and kill millions of innocent people. Doomsday developed a strong desire to murder Superman, a desire that was later explained: from the agony of continually dying during his creation process, Doomsday developed in his genes the ability to sense anyone Kryptonian, as well as an overriding instinct to treat any such being as an automatic threat.

Doomsday battled Superman in a titanic struggle, leading the hero to conclude that the creature would continue to attack relentlessly and endlessly, with no fear or compassion. The battle finally came to an end, where in both Doomsday and Superman beat each other to death in front of the Daily Planet building in Metropolis.

In the aftermath of Superman's apparent death, four super-beings appeared in his wake, two of them declaring themselves to be the "real" Superman. One of these four, a half-man/half-machine who greatly resembled Superman with cybernetic implants where he had sustained the greatest amount of damage from Doomsday's blows, took custody of Doomsday's apparently lifeless body. After strapping the creature to an asteroid with an electronic device attached, The Cyborg Superman flung Doomsday into deep space, on a trajectory supposedly certain to never intersect any other planet. However, in space a reawakened and laughing Doomsday, still chained to the asteroid but otherwise alive, sailed through the cosmos.
Eventually, after passing through a wormhole, Doomsday's asteroid was accidentally found by a deep-space scavenger ship. Upon closer examination of the peculiar-looking drifting rock, the ship's crew retrieved the object, hoping to find something of value. The scavenger vessel happened to be on a route to Apokolips, the home of the powerful tyrant Darkseid. Doomsday was fully rested and, after slaughtering the crew of the salvage ship, found himself landing on the harsh world. This was to be the setup for a final showdown between Doomsday and the returned Superman, who had been uneasy about the possibility of Doomsday's resurrection. With the help of his JLA contacts, Superman procured a Mother Box, a sentient computer, after Darkseid's servant Desaad contacted Earth about a problem on Apokolips.

Unknown to Superman, Doomsday had faced and beaten Darkseid in single combat, even after withstanding the full effect of Darkseid's fabled Omega Beams, and was laying waste to Apokolips. Unfortunately, before Superman could deal with Doomsday, Desaad opened a boom tube to Calaton—the first world where Doomsday was successfully defeated—and sent Doomsday through, to what he believed was his defeat at the hands of the Radiant. However, Doomsday was able to adapt and overcome any opponent because of the process by which he was created, so, although the Radiant had defeated him once, he would not be able to defeat him again. Likewise, even though Superman had killed Doomsday once before, he was unable to do so again. Superman, while knowing this — having been filled in on Doomsday's history by the time-manipulating Waverider — was obsessed with stopping Doomsday and followed him to Calaton. He fought Doomsday again with the help of the Mother Box, but, despite it providing him with extra weapons such as an ultrasonic gun and an energy sword, Superman met with defeat. He was forced to use one of Waverider's time travel devices to leave Doomsday stranded at the End of Time, where Doomsday met the one force he could not overcome: entropy.

Doomsday returned yet again when an underling of Brainiac used his technology to travel to the End of Time to retrieve Doomsday in order to combine the beast's massive power with Brainiac's formidable intellect after his original body was badly injured in his last fight with Superman. However, he was unable to erase Doomsday's consciousness with drugs because he reacted too fast for the process to work. With Doomsday's strength of will too strong for Brainiac to permanently overwhelm him on his own, Brainiac instead opted to use a human host to genetically engineer a Doomsday clone without the mind, while temporarily lodging in the original's head until he would be forced out. In the end, Superman thwarted Brainiac's plot. He then lured Doomsday to the moon, where he placed Doomsday in a kind of stasis with four Justice League teleporters. Perpetually transporting between those four booths, Doomsday would never be more than 25% integrated, and was thus unable to escape.

Sometime later, Doomsday was retrieved by Lex Luthor. Lex handed Doomsday over to Darkseid to repay Earth's war debt to Apokolips from the war with Imperiex. Darkseid attempted to replicate Doomsday, producing an army of Doomsday "clones". He was not able to duplicate perfectly the creature in all its raw power, and they were defeated by a combination of heat vision and Batman's explosive batarangs during an attack on Paradise Island, while Darkseid kidnapped the newly arrived Kara Zor-El/Supergirl.

Doomsday found his way back to Earth but was defeated again by the combined forces of several heroes and imprisoned death beneath the Earth.

During Infinite Crisis, Doomsday was freed from captivity in a cavern near the center of the Earth by Doctor Psycho and Warp. Doctor Psycho mind-controlled him and used him as the "spear-carrier" of a super villain assault on Metropolis. As he came into full view in front of Green Arrow, he was stopped by Kal-El and Kal-L, who made quick work of the villain as, for the first time since the first Crisis, the two Supermen acted as a team.

Doomsday’s unconscious form was contained and shipped to a secret SHIELD facility but recently it was stolen. The current whereabouts of Doomsday is unknown, although rumors persist of him being claimed by a foreign entity.

Characterization: Doomsday is a mindless engine of destruction and one of the most powerful beings in existence.

Friends and Foes: Doomsday has a hatred for all Kryptonians, in particular Superman.

Clean Up 3/20/17: Took Doomsday down to PL15 for the moment. He's lost to Superman enough now to where I don't think he's really that much more powerful at this point.

Abilities 84 + Skills 48 (96 ranks) + Advantages 37 + Powers 107 + Defenses 17 = 293 / 293

Build Comments: Lex is always fun to build. It’s interesting trying to make a non-powered individual the equal of someone like Superman, but if anyone is it, it’s Lex. He’s the smartest, richest, best liar, best planner, and greatest technical mind there is. If he can’t make it, he’ll buy it and whatever he does to Clark, he’ll figure out a way to get away with it.

I decided to go ahead and make the battlesuit part of his main build. This is pretty bare bones, so I will probably take another run at it after I catch up on Action Comics where he has taken over as the protector of Metropolis after the death of New 52 Superman.

Secret Origins: Lex Luthor is the son of Metropolis millionaire Lionel Luthor and his wife Letitia. The Luthor family has a long history with the city of Metropolis. Some of Lex's ancestors were among the pilgrims who founded the city, others were amongst the Native Americans who were there to meet them. Over the centuries, the Luthor family became wealthy and influential. Lex's great-grandfather Wallace Luthor was a millionaire industrialist at the beginning of the 20th Century. He lost his fortune though, in the stock market crash of 1929, and went to his grave a pauper after having to declare bankruptcy. The family fortune was rebuilt by Lionel. Lex, because of Lionel’s abusive nature and alcoholism, had no love for his father, but still found himself wanting to live up to his high expectations. He did love his sister Lena.

In his teens, he lived for a time in Smallville with his aunt Lena, who his sister was named for and there met the young Clark Kent and his friends Lana Lang, Chloe Sullivan and Pete Ross. The stand-offish and superior Lex was friendly with Clark for a time, but eventually left Smallville under a cloud of suspicion after his father died in mysterious circumstances (engineered by Lex, though this could not be proved). Leaving his sister in Smallville, Lex went back to Metropolis and took over Luthor Industries. He renamed it LexCorp, shifted the focus to technology and military weaponry, with himself as lead designer on most products and within a few years he became the richest man in the world.

The Story so Far: Lex Luthor is one of the greatest minds on the planet and one of the richest, most charismatic men in the world as well. His LexCorp tech is THE name brand in technology, and while he has ceased designing full-time to focus on other interests, Lex approves every new product that comes out personally. He also never abandoned the industrial side of the business that father, Lionel Luthor, stewarded to the top, and keeps his fingers in that aspect as well, even though he leaves the day-to-day oversight of that side of the business to others.

His face is everywhere, billboards, magazines, product labels, and there is not a week that goes by that he is not being interviewed for a magazine, sitting in on a talk show or producing his webcast that gets more hits than any other business related webcast in the world. In addition, he has a black belt in karate, is a master marksman and by People magazine’s estimation, has donated more money to charity than anyone in history. In short, he has it all.

However…

Characterization: Luthor’s sole ambition in life is to destroy Superman so that he can become humanity’s rightful champion. He was already antisocial and bitter during his childhood and having endured continuous abuse from his father, Luthor murdered him and made his death look like an accident. Since then, Luthor has become more and more ruthless, seeing people as tools to be manipulated or as enemies to be destroyed. His vindictiveness grew even more when Superman first appeared, as Luthor believed the people of Metropolis had replaced him with Superman as the city’s savior. Swearing vengeance on Superman, Luthor has tried to destroy the Man of Steel for an eternity.

Luthor truly sees himself as a hero and Superman as a villain. He believes Superman’s heroic acts are an obstacle for human progress and the super heroes that have come after him are proof of that. Luthor has stated on many occasions that after he destroys Superman, he will work towards the betterment of mankind. However, Superman has proven that Luthor will not keep this supposed promise.

His own great arrogance, intense greed, vindictive jealousy, ruthlessness, megalomania and father issues are his major weaknesses than can be exploited.

Friends and Foes: His loyal chauffer and bodyguard, Mercy Graves, is with him at least 18 hours a day. His most complex relationship is with Clark Kent/Superman. Lex became obsessively jealous of Superman’s popularity when he arrived on the scene and has dedicated himself to bringing the “alien” down and proving himself to be humanity’s true savior. He is also one of the few people who has deduced Superman’s secret identity, mainly because of their relationship in Smallville where Clark was one of Lex’s only friends. Despite all of Lex’s machinations, he and Clark have had moments where Lex has shown that he still values their friendship. Evidence of that is even though Lex knows Superman’s secret identity, he has never shared it with anyone and has never made a move against Clark’s family.

It’s Superman he wants to destroy. Period.

Relationships: He has grown close to Dick Grayson during his stint as Batman and he has always had respect for his father. Despite their differences, he also loves his mother, Talia Al Ghul.
Rivalry: He has a major rivalry with Red Robin, Batgirl and Spoiler.
Secret Identity: He has a secret identity of Damian Wayne, son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul.
Temper: His impulsive temper gets him into trouble a lot.

Abilities 82 + Skills 48 (96 ranks) + Advantages 41 + Powers 16 + Defenses 15 = 202 / 202

Build Comments: Damian still remains a fave. He’s still pretty much of an ass, but his heart has really shown through recently and I think I am going to add Super Sons to my pull list after Superman #10. That’s he meets Jon Kent and, as expected, they don’t really hit it off and end up garnering the ire of their Super Dads, which is just RIPE for some great comedy and father/son fun ala the old Super Sons books from the 70’s.

In Damian’s solo book, they added Goliath, a man-bat-demon-thing that is his sidekick now so he’s got a build below as well.

Secret Origins: Damian Wayne is the biological son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, and thus the grandson of one of Batman's villains, Ra's al Ghul. Talia would become pregnant with him after a sexual encounter with Bruce, but would keep their son's existence from him for a decade. Instead of being birthed naturally, Damian was grown in a lab, with the intention that he would surpass his father. Shortly after his birth, Talia would leave Damian in the care of the League of Assassins so he could begin his training as an assassin. Years later, Talia revealed Damian's existence to his father and left him in Batman's custody in an effort to disrupt his work and get a step closer to her evil plan. Instead of shunning the boy, Bruce acknowledged his duties as a father, and accepted him into the Batman Family, which would eventually lead Damian to become the fifth and current Robin after the supposed death of Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson taking over the cape and cowl.

The Story so Far: When Damian was initially introduced to his father, he was a very rash, arrogant and violent characteristics similar to Jason Todd when he was Robin. Among the worst of his personality traits, Damian did not stick to the Batman Family's "no killing" rule, as his interpretation of crime fighting involved decapitating The Spook. Damian also exhibited anger issues and jealousy problems towards then Robin, Tim Drake. Damian saw Tim as his rival, since Bruce had just recently adopted him as his son. Damian felt that based off his parentage, the role of Robin was intended for him and him only, which lead him to attack Tim, in an attempt to take the mantle of Robin. Damian has even cursed at Alfred throwing a silver plate at him.

Despite all his issues, Damian would be appointed the mantle of Robin after Dick Grayson became Batman. Dick felt that it was his duty to train Damian and help him control his emotions. Under Dick's guidance, Damian would become a successful crime fighter worthy of the mantle of Robin and the two would become close friends. When Bruce Wayne returned, Damian remained in the Robin role, but Dick Grayson would return to being Nightwing. Damian joined side by side with his father in a new father/son iteration of the Dynamic Duo..

Characterization: While Damian was initially incorrigible, it appears that under Dick's, and now Bruce’s teachings, Damian has begun to grow a conscience and has even demonstrated signs of empathy, particularly towards children. This is demonstrated by his behavior during a mission with the new Azrael and more recently during a Christmas case, in which Damian and Dick find the bodies of several dismembered kids, causing Damian to vomit in horror.

Friends and Foes: He is closest to his father and Dick Grayson. He is becoming more tolerant of Tim Drake and Jason Todd, and has gotten more respectful of Alfred, who he still calls Pennyworth. He has become a strong foe of Batman’s rogues gallery and seems to be starting his own after solo confrontations with Cricket and a new Lynx.

Build Comments: I’ve started to get back into comics recently after a while away. Nothing compared to the 12-15 titles I was reading every month, but 3-4 every now and then until I catch up on some of the characters I like. I have mentioned my affection for Damian Wayne before and as such, I started reading his latest series, Robin, Son of Batman. It’s not great, but it’s fun.

Long story short, before he was sent to his father, he performed a rite of passage as an Al Ghul called the Year of Blood. He basically traveled around the world, stole a bunch of artifacts for his grandfather and did some very un-heroic things. Now that he is going down the heroes’ path, he wants to atone so he has been returning the things he stole and trying to undo the harm he did. Along the way, he’s been joined by the daughter of Morgan Ducard, Nobody, who Damian killed in the first Batman and Robin arc. Originally she just wanted payback, but now, she is helping him in his task. But his main ally is Goliath, a giant man-bat-demon that Damian acquired during the Year of Blood (haven’t gotten to the how of that yet). He provides serious muscle and with the standard animal sidekick comic relief, along with Damian to occasionally show his less dickish side since he has a soft spot for him, despite his constant ordering him around.

I added him as a sidekick to Damian’s build for the time being. I hope he hangs around a while because he’s great foil for Damian and Maya Ducard, who I also hope hangs around awhile.

He caught me before I hit the ground. He was my net. He taught me to focus my anger. To stop myself from hating the world. From blaming everyone for the evil of a few. And then I realized how lucky I was. I realized I had to pay it back. I owed it to other people to be their net. I had to dedicate my life to being there to catch anyone who needed it. - Nightwing

Abilities 92 + Skills 60 (120 ranks) + Advantages 60 + Powers 13 + Defenses 14 = 239 / 239

Build Comments: Everyone should know by now that I am a total Dick Grayson mark, so ergo, I always go overboard when I build him, but I don’t care. He comes in at a solid PL10 and ready to lead one of my teams again. Still not quite sure which one, but he’s too good at it not be involved with the Justice League, Avengers, or Outsiders.

Also, I haven’t worked out HOW Bludhaven is back, but it’s back so he’s got his own city to patrol again. And it will get lots of new visitors, too. As I have stated before, New York and Gotham are way too crowded with a combined setting so I’ve got to spread of folks out.

And look, I'm no big fan of this (as of this update) arc where Dick has amnesia and is going by Ric Grayson, bad ass taxi driver, but I am keeping the Ric name. Come on, it's 2019. No one younger than 60 goes by Dick anymore. Modernization has to occur here.

Secret Origins: Dick Grayson was a thirteen-year-old circus acrobat, the youngest of a family act called The Flying Graysons of The Haley Circus. Dick joined the act at a very young age, having been trained in acrobatics from birth. While on tour in Gotham City, he overheard "Boss" Tony Zucco, a well-known and feared crime-lord, threaten the performers unless the circus's owner paid extortion money. The owner refused, and that night Dick watched in horror as his parents' high wire snapped, sending them hurtling to their deaths, all while many of Gotham's elite watched on. Young Dick felt responsible, because he didn't warn his parents in time.

Bruce Wayne rescued Dick by adopting him as his ward. Bruce was in his early years as Batman and even though he tried when he could, he and Dick struggled to form a relationship. Frustrated by the lack of attention from his new guardian and the mystery still surrounding his parents' death, Dick snuck out of Wayne Manor one evening to solve the crime on his own - only to stumble into Batman, who was also investigating the murder. When Dick returned to the circus, he was confronted by Zucco's business associate, Eddie Skeevers who nearly killed him, but Dick was saved thanks to Batman's intervention.

After waking up in the Batcave, he was shocked to learn that Bruce was really the Batman. They succeed in revealing Zucco's complicity, but he supposedly died of a heart attack before his arrest. Seeing a reflection of himself in Dick; that he could temper compassion with a thirst for justice, Batman made the young orphan the offer of a lifetime; the chance to become his crime-fighting partner. Dick chose the name Robin, his nickname from his mother because of his birthday being the first day of spring and his active nature where he was always “bobbing along”.

His training began and for six grueling months, Bruce taught him as much as he could about criminology, stealth, martial arts and countless other disciplines. Finally, Dick had to pass a final test - "the Gauntlet". Dick had to elude the Dark Knight on the streets of Gotham for one night - from sunset to sunrise - without any outside help. Dick succeeded, simultaneously bringing Gotham gangster Joe Minette to justice. Dick took to the streets as Batman's full-fledged partner in crime-fighting: Robin, the Boy Wonder.

The Story so Far: When Robin was 17, he was shot in the shoulder by the Joker, and this scared Batman into ending his career for good. Dick realized at that point that he had grown up: he no longer relied on Batman and, in fact, he and the Dark Knight disagreed on crime-fighting methodology. His new-found independence and his role as the leader of the Teen Titans' left less time for his former commitments in Gotham City.

Dick rediscovered his self-worth among the Teen Titans. Batman, however, was less than pleased. He informed Dick that if he no longer wanted to be his partner, then Dick would have to retire as Robin. Dick left Wayne Manor after this fallout.

Uncertain what to do, he turned to someone he knew would understand: Superman. Very briefly, Dick had considered giving up the whole crime fighting career, but he couldn't imagine his life any other way; but if he couldn't be Robin, who would he be? Superman had the answer. Long ago on Krypton, a man was cast out by his family - just as Dick had been. He dreamed of a world ruled by justice, and set out to protect the helpless of Krypton. His true identity was never revealed. He was known only as Nightwing.

With a new name, new costume and new confidence, Dick set out to become his own man. He continued as leader of the Titans for couple more years before deciding to focus on finishing school. During this time, he also had a minor reconciliation with Bruce and they came to a mutual understanding. Dick began making time to help the Bat Family on occasion, even trying to mentor the new Robin, Jason Todd. After Jason’s brutal death at the hands of the Joker, he and Bruce became closer again and he helped Bruce decide to eventually take on Tim Drake as the 3rd Robin.

When investigating a crime in nearby Blüdhaven, Nightwing saw that the city was just as bad, if not worse, than Gotham. With no one to protect Blüdhaven, and a need to forge his own path as a hero, Nightwing decided to relocate there. After many adventures and a long running feud with the top mob boss in Bludhaven, Blockbuster, his star-crossed time there ended when he failed to stop fellow vigilante Tarantula from killing Blockbuster. Facing a crisis of conscience, Dick returned to Gotham.

In the wake of Bruce Wayne's disappearance after an epic battle with Darkseid, Dick took over as Batman for a year with Bruce’s son Damian as his Robin. The two formed a strong bond after a rough start, even figuring out how to make the Batmobile into a hovercraft. When Bruce returned, Dick returned to his Nightwing role. After finding out that Tony Zucco was still alive and living in Chicago, Dick moved there to bring him to justice. After doing so, he returned to Gotham briefly before relocating back to Bludhaven, who much like himself and had changed significantly. Bludhaven had become an Atlantic City-style gambling and entertainment city after Blockbuster’s demise and is trying to become more of a family-oriented tourist destination.

Characterization: Dick is a nearly as proficient in many areas of crime fighting as his mentor, Batman. He’s a master detective, top martial artist, trained in escapology and technology. He’s the world’s greatest human acrobat, performing maneuvers that even Spider-Man, Nightcrawler and Daredevil struggle to accomplish. And he also has surpassed Bruce in the key area of leadership. He is also a brilliant and experienced strategist with natural leadership skills, having served as leader to the Titans, the Outsiders, and even the Justice League for a short time. Additionally, Dick's efforts to remain in contact with other heroes makes him a master at rallying, unifying, and inspiring the superhero community, a skill in which he is arguably only surpassed by Superman and Captain America.

Friends and Foes: Dick is close to all the members of the Bat family, with Alfred and Bruce seeing him as more of the glue of the group than Batman himself. He and Barbara Gordon have had a long off-and-on relationship, culminating in a broken engagement. They remain close friends. Within the superhero community, he is close to his former Teen Titans teammates. He’s become good friends with Invincible, Luke Cage, Wolverine and Spider-Man, who are all his teammates in the current incarnation of The Outsiders.

He has a number of recurring foes from his time in Gotham, Bludhaven and now Boston. His greatest nemesis in Bludhaven was Blockbuster, whose death at the hands of Tarantula II still haunts him.

Abilities 84 + Skills 63 (126 ranks) + Advantages 52 + Powers 13 + Defenses 14 = 226 / 226

Build Comments: Tim Drake, another one of my favorite characters. Initally, I felt he got marginalized in the New 52, like a lot of the teen heroes. Don't me started on that original Teen Titans, Legion, NOWHERE thing they had going. Just didn't work. But with Rebirth, he's back with the Bat family in Detective Comics. Granted, that didn't work out so well for him in the end, but it sure got to give Tim the props he's earned over the years as...

Get ready for the argument starting statement...

THE BEST ROBIN EVER.

Secret Origins: Tim Drake is the son of Jack and Janet Drake. When he was a child, he visited the circus with his parents and managed to get a photo with the Graysons before the show. That night, Tim met Dick Grayson before the young acrobat's parents were assassinated.

Tim Drake had followed Batman and Robin's career ever since the murder of the Flying Graysons. One day, he saw the original Robin on television performing a move he had seen Dick Grayson perform at the circus; he quickly made the connection that Dick Grayson was Robin, and after learning that Dick Grayson was the ward of Bruce Wayne, he realized that Bruce Wayne was Batman.

After the death of Jason Todd, Batman grew more violent and reckless. Tim noticed that this wasn't in Batman’s true character, and he sought Dick's help. At this time, Dick had transitioned to being Nightwing. Tim tried to convince Dick to retake the mantle of Robin, saying it was the only way to keep Batman sane. Dick partially agreed to this, but said that he would only help Batman as Nightwing. Tim did not like Dick’s decision, maintaining that Batman needed a Robin. Eventually, he was able to get Alfred to assist in altering the Robin costume so that he could help Batman himself. Alfred and Dick gave Tim their approval as the new Robin, but only so he could keep Batman sane. However, Batman protested that he did not want a new partner, while noting Tim's potential. Eventually, Batman accepted Tim as Robin under one condition: Tim had to endure physical and mental training before he could become Robin so that he would not suffer the same fate as Jason Todd.

The Story so Far: While Tim was training, his parents were kidnapped. Tim continued to focus on his work and foiled the plans of a hacker thief. Meanwhile, Batman went to rescue Tim’s parents. However, Batman arrived too late. They had been poisoned -- his mother killed, and his father in a coma. Batman worried the tragedy might cloud Tim's mind with thoughts of revenge, but he was reassured when Tim saved Batman and Vicki Vale from the Scarecrow. Afterwards, Batman allowed Tim to take on the mantle of the Boy Wonder, and gave him a modernized version of the costume.

Tim was always more similar to Bruce than Dick and Jason were, and as he grew under Batman's tutelage, their commonalities became more pronounced. Tim, as Robin, became a masterful detective and crime fighter; he learned to out-think the many criminals that plagued the streets of Gotham.

As Robin, Tim was a member of Young Justice and leader of the Teen Titans. It was during his tenure teamed with other young heroes that he learned valuable lessons that Bruce could never have taught him, such as the importance of friends. He forged many long-lasting relationships, most notably with Conner Kent, Superboy.

After the death of his father and his best friend Conner Kent, Robin left Gotham City for stint in Bludhaven. It was during this time that Tim, immersed in grief, sought to re-clone his friend and donned a new costume in homage to Conner. Upon his return to Gotham City, Tim was formally adopted by Bruce. He continued to operate as Robin in Gotham City right up until Batman's apparent death at the hands of Darkseid.

After Dick Grayson defeated Jason Todd to take over the Batman mantle, Tim abandoned the Robin identity -- leaving it to Damian Wayne -- and set out on a global search for his mentor as Red Robin. The choice to don the Red Robin was deliberate as he knew he'd have to cross lines that Robin couldn't. The reputation of Red Robin was already tarnished by the now-forsaken Jason Todd, and thus Tim knew that, should he be caught, he wouldn't be traced back to Dick, Damian or Alfred who were all still fighting Bruce's fight in Gotham.

As Red Robin, Tim became a reluctant ally of Ra's al Ghul, who was also interested in discovering what truly happened to Batman. During a trip to Iraq, Tim discovered definitive proof that Bruce was trapped in the time stream. Soon after, he was visited by a recently revived Conner Kent, who proved to be the only person, outside of the League of Assassins, who had faith in Tim's expedition to find Bruce alive.

Tim, still wearing the cowl of Red Robin, returned to Gotham City to engage Ra's and to stop the assassination of those dear to the Bat-Family. In a move that Bruce would never have made, he called upon his closest allies to protect various persons targeted by Ra's. With his friends stifling the assassinations, Tim engaged Ra's head-on in battle, who signaled Tim's growth under Batman's shadow by referring to him as "Detective"; a nickname he usually reserved for the World's Greatest.

Tim then moved back to Gotham full-time, set up a base of operations and learned to embrace the identity of Red Robin, realizing that he had brought honor to the name and costume. Upon Bruce's return, he took on the role as leader of the Teen Titans again, and became a member of Batman, Inc. He still lives in Gotham and has moved into his own apartment as he prepares to start his freshman year at Gotham U in the fall. He does tend to eat a lot meals at the Manor, though, since he has a hard time replicating Alfred’s recipes, despite many attempts.

Characterization: Throughout his life, Tim Drake has gone through a number of events that have altered his personality. Though Tim has always been a serious child, a number of events he had experienced has only intensified his already serious nature. A once balanced child was turned into a dark man. Before becoming Robin, he had built up a good life for himself and good friends with people he could trust, even his father has accepted what he was doing with his life. He was friendly and likeable that he had been able to enjoy life. He cares about innocent people, and would never stand by and watch someone be hurt or killed. He has a strong moral compass.

Friends and Foes: He and Bruce remain very close, as Bruce sees Tim, maybe even above Damian, as the eventual successor as Batman. He is close with pretty much all the members of the Bat Family but he is closest to Dick Grayson. They have a close brotherly bond. Dick was the first person who supported Tim when he wanted to become Robin and helped Tim ease into the role deal with Bruce’s distant manner. Dick treats Tim as a little brother and they make a brilliant crime fighting team.

Tim and Damian share an antagonistic relationship, fighting on a number of occasions. He and Damian continue to be odds a lot, but as favor to both Bruce and Dick, he continues to try and take the high ground. Most of the time…

Tim and Jason had a hatred for each other, but have reached a mutual understanding and respect for each other. He also is close to his Titans teammates, especially Superboy, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash. He has other friends in the teen hero community, including his friend, and sometimes rival for leadership of the Teen Titans, Patriot. Eli actually has a winning record in their sparring matches, which he reminds Tim of every chance he gets.

Tim has developed his own rogues’ gallery over his years as Robin and Red Robin, including The General, Lynx, and even Ra’s al Ghul himself, who also sees him as a potential successor.

Sibling Rivalry: He feels that Batman has always seen him as less than Dick Grayson as well as Tim Drake. And probably Damian, now, too, and this drives him crazy.
Temper: Because of his childhood issues, and possible mental tampering by the Al Ghul's, he can just lose it at times.

Build Comments: Loves me some Jason Todd. The first Red Hood and The Outlaws series wasn't too bad for the most part. Haven't read the new one yet, but I'm glad they're continuing to keep Jason out there because he's become such a great character over the years. He was at his best, as pretty much all the former Robins were, in Batman and Robin Eternal where his cynicism and bad assery were the perfect complement to his more cerebral Bat-brothers.

In my setting, Jason is pretty much...Jason. Still wanting to fight crime, but doing it his way. He's generally reconciled with the Bat family, but none of them trust him outside of Bruce, even though he's saved all of their bacon at one time or another recently. He did promise Bruce he was lose the guns, but he can't quite bring himself do it completely, mainly because he still has an inclination to rebel.

Secret Origins: Raised in the slums of the poor side of Gotham City, Jason Todd was the son of a petty criminal named Willis Todd. Eventually, Willis was sent to prison and never returned home despite earning his release after a few years. This left Jason with Catherine Todd, a drug addicted woman he did not know was not truly his biological mother. In order to survive and for his so-called mother's habit, Jason turned to crime, ripping off car parts for money. Catherine soon died from a drug overdose, and Willis had disappeared after screwing up a job for Two-Face. Jason was left alone on the streets barely surviving, still stealing parts of cars for cash. This led to Batman discovering Jason in an alley stealing the tires off the Batmobile.

Bruce Wayne tried to put Jason in a school for troubled youths but simply could not keep him there due to the school encouraging breaking laws and the kids beating up Jason while an old lady who was considered the teacher, watched. With that option off the table, Bruce took him in as his own and began training him to replace Dick Grayson as Robin. He did not have Dick's cheerful enthusiasm or natural acrobatic skill, but life had made him tough and full of sarcastic wit which made Jason motivated. Secretly, Bruce believed that had he not taken Jason into his home then in a few years time he would be taking Jason in to the police. So instead, Jason became the new Robin.

The Story so Far: On their first official mission as Batman and Robin, it was discovered that Jason's father was killed by the criminal Two-Face. Furious at the knowledge and the fact that Batman knew of it, Jason went on a rampage until at last confronted with Two-Face. Rather than kill Dent however, Jason mastered his anger and let Dent be arrested, making his mentor proud.

Jason was a far different Robin than Dick Grayson. He was cynical and had a mean streak to him that Dick never had. He was an angrier Robin who would sometimes use excessive force on the more vile criminals. In one notorious incident, a serial rapist named Felipe Garzonas dodged the charges for his crimes due to his father's diplomatic immunity. After one of his victims committed suicide, Jason headed straight for Felipe ahead of Batman. Batman arrived in time to witness Felipe falling from a building to his death, and Jason claimed only that Felipe got spooked and slipped when he showed up. Though Batman thought otherwise, he gave Jason the benefit of the doubt.

Jason later discovered his mother was not his biological mother, and ran away to find the woman who gave birth to him. After following a number of leads, Jason finally tracked his mother, Sheila, to Ethiopia, where she worked as an aid worker. While Jason was overjoyed to be reunited with his real mother, he soon discovered that she is being blackmailed by the Joker, who is using her to provide him with medical supplies. Sheila herself had been embezzling from the aid agency and as part of the cover-up she handed her own son, who arrives as Robin, over to the Joker. The Joker beat the boy brutally with a crowbar, and then left him and Sheila in the warehouse with a time bomb. Sheila and Robin tried desperately to get out of the warehouse but are still inside as the bomb goes off. Batman arrived too late to save them and is only able to hold Jason's lifeless body in his arms. The bodies are taken back to Gotham City for burial. For years, Jason's death haunted Batman, who kept Jason's costume on display in the Batcave. Batman still considers this his greatest failure: not properly training Jason in his role as Robin, and failing to protect him from the Joker.

Unbeknownst to Bruce, Jason’s body was taken from his grave by Talia al Ghul and preserved in a secret location. When she felt the time was right, Talia immersed him in a Lazarus Pit to revive him, the same pit in which her father Ra's is also bathing. It is suggested at that time that exposure to the Pit's energies together with Al Ghul might have affected Jason's personality. On Talia's advice, Jason determines his death was never avenged, and prepares to confront Batman by traveling across the globe in the same path of trainings as his mentor. When Batman expresses no remorse for sparing the Joker's life after Jason was killed, Jason is further angered and takes up the mantle of the Red Hood.

Jason became the black sheep of the Batman Family and in many ways the polar opposite of Dick Grayson, who Jason had once been a thinly veiled copy of. He stood as a rejection of Batman's ideals, willing to use lethal force against criminals and control crime rather than fighting against it all. He had several confrontations with members of the Bat family over the years and would also briefly use other identities such as stealing the identity of Nightwing from Dick or donning the Red Robin costume near the beginning of the Final Crisis, but the character always quickly returned to the Red Hood identity.

Thanks to mental treatment he received after Dick and Tim Drake finally took him down and sent him to jail, Jason Todd is less tempered and hostile towards the Bat-Family. As of late, he has worked with them as a unit on multiple occasions, without aggression or direct violence towards them. Jason fought with the Bat-family against The Court of Owls and has shown to be friendly towards Tim Drake after several earlier confrontations.

Characterization: As a former Robin, Jason Todd possesses all the skills of someone trained by Batman but lacked the experience of Dick and Tim. After his resurrection, Jason furthered his knowledge in combat by using Talia Al Ghul's fortune to travel the world similar to what his former mentor did, but sought out much deadlier training. Talia also paid for Jason's tutoring in explosives, strategy, poisons, weapons, vehicles, stealth, antitoxins, and surveillance. Among the current and former Robins, Jason is generally acknowledged as the best overall fighter, even if he lacks in some of the overall crime fighting skill of the others.

Jason's most notable weakness is his rage. Batman and numerous others have told him that his rage blinds him in battle to the point of leaving physical and mental weak points open for attacks. Recently, Jason has made steps to putting the past behind him and has become a more disciplined and controlled fighter.

Friends and Foes: His best friend is Roy Harper, Arsenal. Both had checked pasts and strained mentor relationships so they seem to be kindred spirits. Jason has mended many fences with the Bat family, although some of them struggle with trusting him.

He still has a desire for revenge against The Joker for killing him, but he’s tried to put that behind him to focus on doing what he believes he was meant to do; keeping anyone from going through what he did, even if it means crossing lines Batman wouldn’t.
