Quattro:
The group known as Quattro was formed by Roland McCarthy to aid him in gaining more mystical knowledge; McCarthy had stumbled across one of magic's biggest secrets - if your family bloodline contained mages of different schools of magic then you would be able to cast spells from those schools. For years McCarthy developed skills in plant and water themed magic but was unable to gain any further diversity. Deciding to change his tactics he married a young mage, Lily Blythe, who possessed a similarly diverse bloodline in an effort to grant his future children more power than he was able to attain. He also began to build an impressive library of magical knowledge to afford his descendants the means to learn all they could.
McCarthy also became well versed in ritual casting and magical experimentation to push the boundaries of what could be done with magic, which would eventually lead to his empowering his second cousins, Jacob Black and Spencer Lowell who would become members of Quattro, with elemental powers of their own.
For years Quattro plundering historical sites, museums, also robbing private citizens of valuable artifacts and lore, all the while looking for means to increase their personal power or Roland’s magical knowledge then the Ahriman War happened; Ahriman needed several mystical artifacts for a ritual he was planning and Roland possessed a few of them. It didn’t take long for Ahriman’s followers, the Daevas, to come forcibly knocking Quattro’s door. Despite their efforts, the Daevas’ took what they’d come for left the group beaten and unconscious, a personal insult that drove Quattro to offer their aid to the growing coalition of heroes united against Ahriman. While their magical knowledge and power helped greatly in the fight against Ahriman and his followers, Quattro were among those killed by the explosive release of the built-up magical energy from Ahriman’s interrupted ritual.
