Real Name: Angela Johnson
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 123 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Motivation ~Money & Power : Burn started off only wanting to make enough to support her foster siblings, but over the years she has come to enjoy the money as well as the street cred her powers get her.

Prejudice: Criminal Alpha.

Relationship: Burn is incredibly close to her adoptive brother, Crash.

Background: Angela Johnson and Lucas Norris were left to the not so tender mercies of the care of New York City's Child Care Services at young ages. They bounced around several homes until they were both placed with the Davis family when they were teenagers. There they developed a close bond due to their similar histories. The Davis', unfortunately, were the kind of foster parents who were more interested in housing several foster children due to the financial benefits they gained from doing so. This resulted in Lucas, Angela and their foster siblings fending for themselves more times than not with Lucas and Angela both becoming associated with a local street gang to provide for their foster siblings.

That is what led to their manifesting their Alpha abilities when the pair were the victims of a drive-by done by a rival gang - the two quickly recovered and instinctively used their powers to retaliate against their attackers. Following that Lucas and Angela used their powers to take the leadership of their gang, which they have kept in power on the streets. Now known as Crash and Burn, Lucas and Angela have become fulltime criminals who enjoy their profit and reputations on the streets.

The Foundation

Post by Tattooedman »

The Foundation of Peace:
Inspired by the success of the Vanguard, the Department of National Defense had been debating about creating a new branch that was dedicated to finding and developing superheroes for Canada. But it wasn’t until Warrant Officer Stu Edwards gained his powers fighting agents of C.O.B.R.A. that the Canadian Government finally made up their collective minds and greenlit the creation of the Foundation of Peace. Stu Edwards became known as Sharpshooter and was soon joined by other heroically inclined Alphas in the original membership of the Foundation of Peace.

The new recruits that followed were trained both individually and as a team in order to learn how to properly use their powers as part of the Corps, the first level of training devised by the Canadian Government. Those who demonstrate control of their abilities, as well as their personal dispositions, are promoted to the Cadre, the second training tier, and they are given more advanced training that builds on what they learned in the Corps. After proving their competency members of the Cadre are allowed to go on non-combat related missions with members of the Foundation (as the group is more popularly known) to get “in the field” experience to prepare them for their eventual “graduation” into full membership in the team.

Despite the support of the Canadian Government and people, and their overall success as the main heroes of the Frozen North, the Foundation has suffered a few setbacks - the most well known being the death of founding, and most popular, member, Blazer when the group fought against Mistress Oblivion and her Knights. None the less the Foundation has become as successful as the Vanguard and is viewed as equals to their American counterparts.

Real Name: Stewart “Stu” Edwards
Height: 6’0
Weight: 235 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Honor: Sharpshooter is a virtuous man and will not take shortcuts or compromise his values.

Responsibility: Sharpshooter feels a strong sense of responsibility for his country.

Secret Identity: The fact that Stu Edwards is the hero Sharpshooter is a secret

Background: Stu Edwards never questioned if he’d follow in his family’s tradition of military service, it was more a question of if he would make a career as his father and grandfather had done. Taking a wait and see approach, Stu applied to the Canadian Army when he was of the proper age and was assigned to the 4th Canadian Division in Ontario. He served with pride for several years, rising through the ranks, reaching the rank of Warrant Officer, when he was assigned to a base where a project to develop an energy source to replace fossil fuels was being developed. As the project neared completion C.O.B.R.A. raided the base with the intent of taking it for their own, and during the ensuing fire-fight Stu was blasted into the machine. During an explosive energy discharge Stu’s body underwent a transformation that left his body charged with energy; specifically, his physical abilities were pushed to the upper limits of what was humanly possible, and he was able to somewhat channel some of that energy in offense ways.

Stu wasted no time in putting his newly gained abilities to use in routing the C.O.B.R.A. agent’s efforts, and soon several of their number had been captured while the rest were driven off without their intended loot. Days later Stu was subjected to numerous tests to determine what the energy generator’s effects on him were, while his superiors debated what to do with their now super soldier. When he was deemed to be healthy, Stu found himself with a new assignment – Special Agent Abroad, which would eventually be recognized as his becoming Canada’s first “super hero”, complete with government support, and known as the Sharpshooter.

Over the next few months other heroically inclined Alphas either came forward, wanting to get help understanding or controlling their powers, or were recruited by the government. Several were put into the training branch of the Foundation while the few the rest were deemed “combat ready” and joined Stu in field work. A year later the first graduates of the training program were assigned to the Foundation of Peace, which was formed to protect the public from various threats. For decades they have acted as Canada’s protectors in all matters pertaining to Alphas, led by Sharpshooter. At this point he is torn over retiring from fieldwork, while he has stayed physically fit thanks to his powers, he is starting to feel the years that have gone by and finds himself questioning why he still does it.

Real Name: James “Jim” Wilson
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 281 lbs
Hair: Brown
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Fists Are Natures Problem Solvers: Anvil isn’t known for complex tactics or subtle plans: decades of experience have taught him most problems actually can be solved with his fists.

Reputation ~Chauvinist: Anvil can be a bit condescending to women, which can get him into trouble from time to time.

Spoiling For A Fight: Anvil likes straight up, mano a mano fights.

Background: Jim Wilson was part of the Canadian Olympic team, specifically the track and field team where he excelled in the shot put but unfortunately he failed to earn any medals. From there he went on to become part of the Canadian Football League, playing for the Calgary Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, for almost a decade when his powers manifested.

When the enforcers of the local bookie tried to force Wilson to shave points on a couple of games as to help them increase their profits in illegal gambling, he turned them down flatly despite semi-veiled threats made. However, when the enforcers tried to make good on their threats, they ended up triggering the manifestation of Wilson’s Alpha abilities that allowed him to not only survive the attempted hit but to overcome his attackers and turn them over to the authorities. News of Wilson’s action were quickly reported upon by news networks and soon he found himself dealing with that problem in addition to the still on-going threat of organized crime when the Canadian Government approached him with an offer of joining a group they were assembling. Seeing no other option for himself or his young family, Wilson agreed and took the code name of Anvil – as his powers made him super resistant to most forms of injury as well as superhumanly strong.

For several years he was considered to be the rock of the Foundation, as the group became known to the general public. Wilson enjoyed the adventures he found himself being a part of and it wasn’t until he began to start to feel the “weight of his work” a few years ago that he retired from heroics. While he misses the action sometimes he is more than happy to watch as his daughter has taken “his spot” in the Foundation (as she developed powers highly similar to his) and is having the same kind of adventures he used to.

Real Name: Samuel “Sammy” Owens
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 229 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Identity: Blazer’s identity as Sammy Owens is a closely guarded secret to protect his loved ones.

Motivation ~Responsibility: Blazer feels that he needs to use his abilities for the betterment of others.

Background: Abandoned by his parents and brought to a children's home in Vancouver by an unidentified individual, Sammy Owens spent a couple of years at the home before a young couple adopted him. That resulted in most of his younger years being typical of a suburban, middle-class life, with no major events worth noting.

A home invasion by a gang of crooks led to Sammy manifesting his powers; which resulted in his punching the criminals through three interior walls of the house with a hard-light ram after they’d shot his adoptive father. When the police arrived after being called several of their questions were difficult to answer; like why there were several large holes in the family house that couldn’t be easily explained and why all three intruders were suffering from injuries one would normally see with a vehicle hitting a person. One of the officers on the scene made a call, and within the hour the family was visited by member of the Canadian Government who discussed Sammy's emerged powers and what had happened. The man promised to have his department pick up the repairs to the family’s home provided that Sammy become part of a government program that would educate her in the control of her powers as well as provide a family stipend and Sammy a place where she would be with others like himself. The family agreed, Sammy included, and a week later he was brought to a facility at an undisclosed location.

Over time, Sammy gained a greater control over his powers while his light-hearted nature, and studious work ethic eventually allowed him to graduate to field duty, code named Blazer, to form the original membership of the Foundation of Peace. For several years he fought against several criminals, both mundane and Alpha, becoming known for his commitment to the Foundation’s cause.

Unfortunately. Blazer died while fighting against Mistress Oblivion and her forces, fighting to buy his allies the time they needed to defeat the villainess who sought to remake the world in her own twisted image. He was given a hero’s burial, complete with a memorial statue, and the day of his sacrifice is now a holiday in Canada.

Real Name: Scott Annis
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 195 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Identity: Lifeline’s identity as Diana Alexandra is a closely guarded secret to protect her family and friends.

Motivation ~Thrills: Coldfire is living out his dream of being a superhero.

Temper: Ironically, Coldfire has a temper that sometimes gets him into trouble.

Background: Scott Annis grew up a normal kid; climbing trees, going on hikes, camping out under the stars, swimming, ice skating when the weather permitted, and building forts out of fallen timber are just some examples. While this seems rather normal for a young boy, Scott did much of this before reaching puberty. By the time he entered high school, he had pretty much done every feasible dare devilish feat imaginable.

Scott's "adrenaline junkie" approach to life gained him favor amongst the many coaches in high school, most certainly his track coach. Scott joined the track team, albeit somewhat reluctantly, and found a fondness for the sporting events he found himself competing in. By graduation day, Scott had broken every school, and most state, records in track and field competitions. He received numerous collegiate applications, and myriad visits from college scouts, all wanting him to join their respective alma mater. Not much seemed to be going wrong with Scott's life, that is until his father was arrested when his financial misdeeds were discovered. The Annis family ended up having to move to Canada to live with his mother’s family to escape the scrutiny his father’s actions had gained.

Scott relished the chance to start over following the yearlong trial his family had endured, as this new life in Canada afforded him more opportunities to explore, new adventures to take on. Not three months into his new home there came a turn of events that would radically alter his life; while snowboarding with several friends an avalanche happened, and the friends were sent in various directions, each trying to save themselves. Unfortunately, Scott would find himself racing downhill against the impossible speeds of the furious avalanche. Just as the avalanche began nipping at his heels, Scott missed a rock formation in his path and he hit it, smashing his board and sending himself hurtling several yards downhill.

Then, with the surge of fear-fed adrenaline, and miraculous timing, his Alpha powers emerged - Scott noticed that he was slowing down while still in midair and was surrounded by an aura of blue energy. It didn't take him long to figure out what happened, and even less time to celebrate and start to toy around with his new abilities. Scott then remembered his friends and raced to track them all down, which took all of about five minutes and he returned them to the nearby cabin in which they had rented for the trip.

Scott didn’t wait long to show off his abilities and he was soon thinking about what he should do with these powers. After consulting his friends, Scott thought about becoming a celebrity, and he returned home with the secret amongst the friends, and a lot to ponder. However, it wouldn't be long before his decision would be made as representatives of the Canadian government came to the family home. They offered Scott a significant government salary and the chance to be a superhero on the provision that Scott could pass a series of tests to be done at a government facility. There was no hesitation in Scott's decision, and following his passing of the purposed test he soon departed his family in joy and began to participate in the training program and eventually would earn himself member in the Foundation.

Real Name: Shepard
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 263 lbs
Hair: Tannish-brown
Eye Color: Yellow

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Motivation ~Serve & Protect: Shepard is driven by the only code he has ever known.

Secret: Shepard has a few that could come back to haunt him.

Socially Inappropriate: Despite his evolved state, Shepard does not view the world quite the same as human beings. this can lead to some "interesting" conflicts and interactions.

Background: The past of the super-hero known as Shepard is a mystery; he simply burst on the scene several years ago, taking down muggers, drug dealers and other petty criminals. However, unlike other "savage" heroes he always tried to take his quarry in alive. While obviously intelligent, sometimes his use of language was, and still is, a struggle. Where he went when not fighting crime was unknown.

Despite his mysterious past, Sharpshooter was impressed with how Shepard conducted himself and quietly kept tabs on his activities for a while before approaching him with an offer of membership in the Foundation. Shepard was curious to see if working with a “pack” would let him be more effective than he could alone and accepted the offer. In the time since he’s proven himself to be a steadfast member of the group, often times acting as the secondary leader.

Despite the efforts of the Government agents, Shepard’s past has remained a mystery. Although the fact that Shepard isn’t being honest with them does not help at all. The truth of the matter is that Shepard is not a man who changed into an atavistic form to fight crime but was a German Shepard police dog that was somehow transformed into his current form by unknown parties. All Shepard remembers was working with his handler on a case that led to a fight that left his handler dead and Shepard severely wounded in a muddy field in the middle of nowhere. Then a stranger appeared, took Shepard somewhere, and for unknown reasons, evolved him into the creature he now is, then released him.

Shepard does not know who his benefactor was, nor why the man did what he did, but he does know this...the best way to honor his late partner was to keep doing the work they were dedicated to. He is not worried about the “truth” of his origins, Shepard is more concerned with protecting and serving the people.

Real Name: Katherine Wilson
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 136 lbs
Hair: Blonde (dyed natural Burnette)
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Identity: Anvilette’s identity as Katherine Wilson is a closely guarded secret to protect her family and friends.

Legacy: She is the daughter of the hero Anvil.

Unlucky In Love: Perhaps because of her commitment and responsibilities to the Foundation, Anvilette often has bad luck in the romance department.

Background: From a young age Katherine “Kate” Wilson knew that her father had been the hero Anvil; his causal use of the impressive strength he possessed made it obvious. Luckily, she and her younger sibling were home schooled so the worry of any of them accidentally exposing that secret was lessened until she was old enough to understand the need for secrecy. It was around that time that Kate understood there was a strong possibility that she or her siblings would manifest similar abilities.

That subject was the focus of much debate between the elder Wilsons, as Kate’s mother didn’t want her daughter taking the same kinds of risks her husband had done as part of the heroic group the Foundation, while her father openly admitted that he’d be proud to have any of his children carry on his legacy. However, Kate didn’t want to be an origin chaser, someone who put themselves in insanely dangerous situations in an effort to trigger Alpha abilities, so that went a long way in assuring her mother’s worrying. Although she did make sure to accept her father’s offer of teaching her how to handle herself in a fight (more because it was a good idea in her mind in all honesty), and it wasn’t until the Institute, one of the Foundation’s enemies, kidnapped a number of the team’s families to use as blackmail leverage against them. During that ordeal Kate led an escape effort that was foiled and was subjected to a beating as punishment that resulted in the manifestation of her powers, which she promptly used to in a new escape attempt (which was much more successful than the first) and she would even teamed up with her father and his teammates to face the members of the Institute in a final showdown.

Afterwards there was little debate as to what would happen next for Kate – she would join the training program for the Foundation and be trained in the use of her powers. It was a turn of events that Kate did not mind in the least, and she took to her training with a level of enthusiasm that made her father proud. A few years later her father retired from being a superhero and she was made a member of the Foundation, where she has happily stayed for the last several years.

Real Name: Theodore “Ted” Ellsworth Owens
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 204 lbs
Hair: Brown
Eye Color: Blue

Complications:
Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Identity: Blackheart’s identity as Ted Owens is a closely guarded secret to protect his family.

Motivation ~Legacy: As the son of the hero Blazer, Blackheart feels the pressure to measure up in comparison to his father.

Background: Ted Owens grew up on stories about his father told to him by both his mother and his “uncles”, Stu Edwards and Jim Wilson. Due to his father’s sacrifice in the line of duty years earlier, Ted and his mother were fully supported by the Canadian Government and never wanted for anything. He was able to pursue his education as he wanted, although all Ted ever wanted was to follow in his father’s footsteps, despite his mother’s subtle hints that she did not want him to do so. However, despite Ted’s desire his lack of Alpha abilities meant that he’d never be able to do so until he took matters into his own hands – specifically he became part of extreme sports league, constantly placing himself in dangerous situations that eventually triggered the manifestation of his powers, though the details of that event are now deemed a government secret.

At that point Ted was enrolled in the Canadian Government’s super-agent program where he was trained in the applications of his powers and upon graduation, he joined his “uncle” Sharpshooter as part of the Foundation where he strives to follow his father’s example.

Identity: Lifeline’s identity as Diana Alexandra is a closely guarded secret to protect her family and friends.

Motivation ~: As the current Lifeline, Diana Alexandra feels it is her duty to use her knowledge and skills to help the Foundation continue to protect the citizens of Canada from various threats.

Background: After the death of Blazer, the Canadian Government started a project to create a "super hero combat medic" who would be a part of the Foundation of Peace to prevent such events from happening again. It took several years before a fully functional version of the Lifeline armor was produced and a medically skilled pilot could be trained in its usage.

Diana Alexandra is the current operator of the Lifeline armor, the fourth specifically, and takes her place on the team very seriously. She often times plays a backup role in combat so that she can properly attend to any injured members of the team as well as protecting any potential bystanders from collateral damage of the Foundation's fights.

Alternate Identity: In his mortal form, Firefox is Powerless and has Strength 2, Stamina 3, Agility 2, Dexterity 4, Fighting 3, Int 2, Awareness 2, and Presence 1 with corresponding changes to his Skills and Defenses.

Fame: All members of the Foundation are well-known within Canada’s borders.

Identity: Firefox’s identity as Brian James is a closely guarded secret to protect his family and friends

Background: Brian James found himself strapped to a table while the members of the cult he’d been investigating, who’d decided that he’d be a great sacrifice, chanted the last lines of a summoning ritual that brought a hellhound to Earth to do the cult’s bidding. Luckily for Brian this wasn’t the first time he’d found himself in this kind of situation and he knew how to free himself from the restraints that held him down just in time. As the hellhound stepped out of the summoning portal Brian quickly grabbed a few spell components as he mouthed the words to a spell of his own casting – one he intended to use to control the creature, but in his haste Brian mispronounced some of the words and he instead found himself mystically fused with the hellhound into a totally new kind of being that had claws composed of hellfire! The new being wasted no time in using those claws against the cultists, leaving only a few of them alive to be arrested by the authorities.

Once the ordeal was over with Brian found himself back at home somehow with only vague memories of what had happened to him and his actions after he’d cast his spell. Over the following months Brian struggled to move on with his life, but his other self continued to manifest at times when Brian felt threatened or was very angry (which given his choice of work meant this happened fairly regularly) and he often times caused a large amount of wreckage to the area when he transformed. This led to the Canadian Government becoming aware of Brian’s other self and eventually Brian himself, where they offered him a choice – either take membership in the Foundation, the government’s sponsored team of Alpha heroes, to help him understand and control his powers or he could be locked away to protect the general public from his other self.

See no other option and wanting to learn to control his other self not just contain it, Brian agreed to join the Foundation and was given the code name of Firefox. He struggled to adjust to the team, as he was the first member to be appointed solely by the Canadian government and that did not sit well with some of the Foundation’s members (especially Anvil), but it was clear that Brian did want to help others and sometimes his mystical knowledge was helpful to the group when they encountered things with a magical origin. Over the years Brian earned the trust and respect of the other members of the Foundation up until he was finally separated from the essence of the hellhound with the help of the Aurelius, at that point he "retired" from active duty with the Foundation and returned to his work as a paranormal investigator.

Height: 6'1" (the males), 5'4" (the females)

Complications:
Motivation ~World Domination: The Coalescence seek to take over the world.

Power Loss: If one of the Coalescence is somehow rendered unconscious or their powers nullified then the group loses 1 rank of Enhanced Awareness, 2 ranks of Enhanced Intellect, and 2 ranks of all of the powers in their Hive Mind Psionics Array.

Power Loss: The Coalescence's mental powers are boosted by close physical proximity to one another (although exactly how much distance is unknown). Thus, if separated by sufficient distance they lose use of all powers except for their Mind Speak.

Background: Always looking into the different manifestations of Alpha abilities, Dr. Prometheus caused the entire town of Winshire, in California's Marin County, to fall unconscious for twenty-four hours. During that time he artificially inseminated ten women using DNA he'd taken from a psychic, making sure to implant a hypnotic suggestion in the subjects to not seek abortions. During the following nine months he monitored his experiments progress, carefully inserting himself into the lives of the women as newly arrived doctor.

All of the babies are born the same night - five boys and five girls. They are all healthy, but have unusually pale skin, platinum blonde hair, and cobalt colored eyes. As they grow up, it becomes increasingly apparent that all the children have fierce intellects. The children's physical development is accelerated as well, as upon reaching the age of ten, they appear to be sixteen-year-olds. Which leads the community to begin to quietly question just how inhuman the children are as they do not appear to possess a conscience or individual personalities, instead displaying a kind of hive mind and are able to communicate telepathically with one another. The children would go on to display other psychic powers that make the town even more uncomfortable around them.

Eventually the children are removed from their homes and placed at a nearby closed farm that serves as both a home and a classroom where Dr. Prometheus acts as their teacher in his assumed identity. He takes advantage of the exclusive access to assess his experiments progress, while fostering the idea to the children that they were superior to any one else due to their developing powers. This results in the children reacting with increasing violence to perceived threats - as when one of the children are hit by a drunk driver and is seriously injured. The children mentally force the young man responsible to drive his car into a wall and kill himself. In response the villagers form a mob and try to burn down the children's home but the children make the villagers attack each other. Because of that incident, the children decide that they need to take their leave of Winshire to find their place in the world.

Several years later the children, calling themselves the Coalescence, use their psychic powers secretly back Congressman Jack Kincaid's bid to become the U.S. President by psionically hypnotizing people into voting for Kincaid. Their plan was stopped when a reporter, who possessed minor psychic abilities, was able to resist the Coalescence's power contacted the Vanguard and helped them to stop the Coalescence plan.

They would resurface later using their telepathy to secretly restructure American society, starting in the town of Dunwich, Massachusetts by brainwashing the inhabitants. Unfortunately for them, members of the Mavericks came to Dunwich while on a vacation and stumbled across the psychic's plot. The young heroes were forced to fight most of the townspeople but were able to reverse the Coalescence's brainwashing and force them to flee.

Yep! One of my favorite movies. I thought it'd be interesting to make them into a super villain(s) that was a bit different.
