Complications:
Motivation (Guilt/Responsibility)- Joshua still remembers what he did as a stupid youngster, and a lot of what he does is him trying to make up for the memory of what he did.
Motivation (Social Improvement)- Megaton grew up in a rather poor and nasty neighborhood. He wants to change that, and make sure no more young kids grow up in places like he did.
Motivation (Vengeance)- Joshua is determined to pay back the sinister forces that preyed upon the poor neighborhoods and kids like himself. No more exploitation.
Relationship (Algernon Xidorn)- Megaton’s mentor following his attempts at reforming, Algernon is one of the few people on Earth that Megaton has any sort of respect for. Around Xidorn, Joshua manifests a side that he never shows anywhere else.
Relationship (Corona)- Ever since he joined the Peacemakers, Megaton has been in a romantic relationship with their leader, Corona, though his rough personality and Corona’s on-and-off relationship with Gryphon complicates the whole affair.
Relationship (Jack Offswitch and Stonewall)- Before he joined the Peacemakers, Joshua worked with the extraordinary bounty hunter duo during his "wandering vigilante" phase, and he still occasionally pays them a visit or pitches in to help them, for good ole times.
Relationship (The Night Stalker)- Not the current one, but Megaton was beaten into shape by the previous Night Stalker. Without him, Joshua might not be the hero he is today.
Relationship (Thunder Woman)- Megaton and Thunder Woman have worked together a few times. They almost never get along with each other, yet despite the clashing personalities and perspectives they have, they do make an effective pair. Joshua enjoys the arguing and way he can get under Samantha’s skin, while she has come to appreciate the way he has been able to open her eyes to some of the social issues of Newport beyond her own existence.
Reputation (Loner)- Despite being strongly associated with the Peacemakers, Megaton has a reputation for frequently going out and doing his own thing. He can be a team player, but he finds it difficult and challenging at times.
Reputation (Personality)- Megaton can be...difficult to work with at times. Though he is more than capable of being part of a team and working with a partner, there is always a bit of an edge to it, and he frequently gets into arguments with other, equally acerbic people like Gryphon.
Rivalry (Excelsior)- Megaton is annoyed by Excelsior’s existence and way of doing things, thinking of the hero as a “goody two-shoes.” As major black male heroes, they are often compared (perhaps unfairly) by hero enthusiasts.
Rivalry (Gryphon)- Gryphon thinks Megaton is too much of a loose cannon at times. Megaton thinks Gryphon has a stick up his butt. Naturally, these two aren’t exactly friends, and it doesn’t help that they both have relationships with Corona.
Total: Abilities: 50 / Skills: 48--24 / Advantages: 27 / Powers: 96 / Defenses: 18 (215)
Megaton is a member of the superteam known as the Peacemakers, the first graduating class of the Xidorn International Extaordinary Academy, a school for training and educating young extraordinaries. The Peacemakers came about as a response from the students and their teachers, formerly known as the Triad, to attempts by a former associate of Algernon Xidorn calling himself Chronus to form a group called the Titan Supremacy, with the goal of establishing the dominance of extraordinaries over regular humanity.
Megaton, however, was not a member of that graduating class, but came to the Peacemakers as an adult already familiar with his powers, mostly because he didn't have a home. He was once a street tough who tried to establish his street cred with his powers, but was taken down by the second Night Stalker and shown the consequences of his actions, via the damage done to his neigborhood not by his enemies, but by him. After that Megaton became a wandering vigilante, unsure of what he wanted to do, and with no home, until Chronus attempted to recruit him. At first he accepted, but after coming into conflict with the Peacemakers he realized that Chronus was only turning him back into what he was trying to escape, and so he switched sides.
He's been a member ever since, although he still retains a bit of a loner streak, often going off on his own adventures as a hero. This is how he met Thunder Woman, and the comradery has been beneficial for both of them, Thunder Woman helping to soften the rather harsh and hard hitting hero, and Megaton demonstrating to her some of the social ills and problems she is blind to due to her position in life. That Megaton can offer a much more grounded, streetwise perspective on heroism has been key for Samantha, who often struggles with the way her power affects her ability to relate to the world around.
Recently, Megaton has been searching for answers as to where he came from, discovering that he was adopted, and that his powers may not have come naturally to him, but been the result of genetic tampering by a sinister, clandestine force. Already he's begun noticing similar effects in the urban communities he likes to visit, watching children and young men and women fall victim to some nefarious group experimenting on them. He has vowed to bring this nameless group to justice, and prevent them from ever subjecting the youth of America to their cruel and twisted experiments ever again.
