HISTORY
Amber Hunt was a spoiled Valley girl who unknowingly had Ultra potential. The alien pathogen known as the Theta Virus targeted potential Ultras to cause genetic degeneration. The scientist Rachel Deming had developed a recombinant DNA procedure that would stabilize the infection prior to death, while also triggering Ultra powers in 99% of subjects. Dem-ing and her competitor Malcolm Kort both targeted Amber for recruitment. Amber was rescued from Kort's henchmen by the Exiles, Ultras working for Deming to prevent Kort's exploitation.

Although Amber was brought back to the Exiles's base, circumstances prevented Dr. Deming from using the life-saving procedure on Amber immediately. As the other Exiles were busy on missions against Kort, Amber grew restless waiting for her cure and recklessly tried to activate Deming's machines her-self. Her poor decision was made even worse because the Entity of the Moon sent down a "jumpstart" flare at the same time, radically augmenting Amber's latent powers and the explosion created by her power manifestation. At least three Exiles died thanks to Amber's impatience, and three more were seriously injured or left comatose in the aftermath. Amber herself was driven almost completely in-sane and feral by the jumpstart.

Amber's connection to the Entity on the Moon was revisited when she began radiating energy across the Earth from the infrared up to the ultraviolet range in response to the Entity's needs.

HISTORY
A struggling actor, Tom Hawke's luck drastically changed after be-ing struck by the "Jumpstart Effect", a burst of energy from the Entity, the ancient alien spaceship responsible for most of the world's super-beings. Gaining superhuman strength and durability, Tom realized that he wanted more than short term success. He met with Linda Warren, Jamal Blass and Carlos Jimenez, who had also gained abilities, and proposed that they become an Ultrahero team, helping people while bolstering their careers. The other agreed and formed the Squad, each taking code names; Starburst, D.J. Blast, Forsa and Hardcase.

For six months the Squad achieved great success, fighting crime, aid-ing the police and performing acts of charity. they became celebrities and media darlings. Their good fortune was not to last though. At-tacked by the creature NM-E, the heroes were overcome. In a last ditch effort, D.J. Blast focused all his power on NM-E, causing a massive explosion. Only Hardcase and Starburst escaped, but not without cost; Starburst was comatose. Grief stricken by the tragedy, Hardcase retired from heroics. He would later learn that Rex Mundi was responsible for the attack.

During his retirement, Hardcase became an action movie star, portraying himself on the screen. He came out of retirement to battle Headknocker, an Ultrahuman with incredible strength, who out-matched the police. Defeating the villain, Hardcase announces his return.

Soon afterwards, he was visited by the ultraheroine Choice, who asks for his help. Hardcase agrees and allowed her to stay with him. The two soon began a relationship, though Hardcase was reluctant at first. The two have several adventures together, including rescuing tsunami victims. Once, teamed with the The Strangers, they invaded Aladdin's Groom Lake facility, where Hardcase discovers that the government agency was using the Squad's genetic material. Later, the heroes go to work for a person known only as the Alternate. They travel to the moon to discover the source of the "Jumpstart Effect" which has been granting people powers all across Earth. Alongside other ultraheroes, they protect the Entity, a crashed starship that was causing the Jumpstart Effect, from attack. It is soon allowed to return home.

As payment, the Alternate tells Choice and Hardcase that Choice's origins lay back at Groom Lake. The Aladdin Assault Squad stop their plans to invade. The pair hire Tech of the Solution to obtain the information they sought. The in-formation reveals that Choice was given her abilities by using the genetic material from the brains of Forsa and Starburst, which greatly distresses Hardcase. Moments later, Choice is teleported away to the Godwheel.

Later Hardcase and several heroes formed Ultraforce soon after to stop the subterranean warlord Atalon's plans for world conquest. Successful, they stayed together to police other ultras.

Hardcase faced his greatest challenge when NM-E returned. Out-matched by the creature, he would have died if not for Prime’s intervention. Though unable to stop the creature himself, Prime’s attack allowed Hardcase to recover, with help from the Alternate. Renewing his assault, Hardcase savagely attacked NM-E, who was drained from its fight with Prime. Fueled by vengeance, Hardcase reduced the creature to debris.

The god Argus then teleports Hardcase and other ultras to an-other dimension to recover the keys to the Crucible of Life for him. Rebelling, the ultras fight Argus. The kidnapped Ultras split into two factions, those willing to serve Ar-gus and those wishing to oppose him. The escapees travel to the Godwheel on the 'Godyacht' itself to take control of the keys. Hard-case gains a new uniform and teams up with the heroine Flygirl to search for the key called the Roc's Egg. They lose the key to Lord Pumpkin and Flygirl is blasted off the edge of a cliff and falls to her death. This deeply traumatizes Hardcase.

After further adventures, the surviving Ultras banish Argus. Hardcase had discovered that Choice was on the Godwheel and is briefly reunited with her. During this short time, he learns she was pregnant.

Returned to Earth, Hardcase sought out the man responsible for his misfortune, Rex Mundi. He meets with ultras formerly employed by Mundi to extract Mundi’s location. To hinder Hardcase, Mundi frames him for murder.

Inadvertently, Hardcase discovered the Time Gem, one of the Infinity Gems, and tried to prevent the Squad’s death with it. He failed, but his actions created an alternate timeline. The trickster god Loki then stole the gem from him.

On information from Death Dance and Meathook, Hardcase confronted Mundi in his underground lair. Capturing Hardcase, Mundi revealed that he was, like himself, composed of nanotech. His true nature somewhat explained to him, Hardcase willed himself back in time to undo the damage he had done. He reappeared and witnessed a confrontation between Mundi and the Alternate. Dis-missed by the combatants, Hard-case returned to Hollywood where he was reunited with Choice.

When the Black September Event struck the Ultraverse and rewrote reality, Hardcase was shunted into a limbo dimension, erased from reality. He reappeared only one more time to battle the Demon-seed, a being he had created as a companion. In the end, with Prime’s help, he banished himself and Demonseed back to limbo to battle for all eternity.

Thanks for doing Hardcase! I always liked the Ultraverse heroes and their shared universe, and was sorry when the whole line just abruptly ended so soon after Marvel bought the company. In some ways, it felt like a very contemporary take on the superhero concept without being "dark/edgy" or over the top weird (like a lot of the Vertigo or indie stuff). There was a lot of creative energy which went into the books.

All my best.

HISTORY
Over the last decade, a warrior who calls himself Gilgamesh has carved a reputation for himself as a dimension spanning paladin. The last ten years are the only memories he has. He has no idea what has caused his loss of memory. The first thing he remembers is waking up along a river bed in a wilder-ness area, laying naked on the cold ground. Beside him were the remains of a fire, some camp equipment, a motley collection of weapons, a suit of armor, and a diary written in cuneiform (Babylonian) script. He checked the campsite and found the tracks of two people. There appeared to have been; a bare-handed fight. One of the combatants had lost. There were no traces of the other one, or any tracks leading away from the camp. The only other clue was the book.

He could understand the script and read the story of King Gilgamesh, who had been driven to search for immortality through the Megaverse.
Rare alchemical potions had ex-tended his life, but had not granted him what he wanted most, to be truly an immortal. He had tried magic and technology, had questioned vampires and demons, and came out not much wiser than be-fore. Eventually, he had found the answer from a mysterious man who called himself the Cyber-Mancer. This exotic techno-wizard had discovered a ritual in which the subject was cloned and then his clone was sacrificed and all its potential life span was transferred to the original body, greatly in-creasing its life span. If done seven times, the ritual would grant eternal life.

According to the book, Gilgamesh had carefully researched and con-firmed the Cyber-Mancer's story. He had the clones created and performed the ritual six times. Each time creating a double of himself and then destroying it. Each time, however, it became harder to do this. His conscience had begun gnawing at him. Was immortality worth committing cold-blooded murder, especially when the victims were closer to him than his own sons could be? But then again, were these clones individuals or simply a physical extension of his own essence which he was reclaiming? The king clung to this latter notion. As the last time approached, he hesitated. He had even awakened the clone and let it experience a few moments of life. The last entry of the diary read: "Tonight I must make my decision. I feel my life force coming to an end. I must act or pass on forever." What happened afterwards re-mains a mystery.

To compound the mystery, the man on the river bank somehow knew he was Gilgamesh. Or was he? His memories erased, he could not know whether he was the original king, the clone, a deluded lunatic, or some impostor with amnesia. Did Gilgamesh kill the clone and become immortal? Was he that ancient king, immortal at last? Or was he the clone, granted life by the dying king (and did Gilgamesh perish or does he still live?). Had the clone and the king fought and one killed the other — if so, which one survived and where was the loser's body? In the river? After a day of contemplation, Gilgamesh decided he could drive himself mad trying to guess at what transpired that fateful night. All he knew for certain was that his name was Gilgamesh and he was a great warrior. He found some ancient armor in his pack (owned by King Gilgamesh?), but the rune weapons mentioned in the journal were missing. Had the king sold them in his search for immortality, or had he taken them with him? Over the next ten years of adventuring he'd find new weapons and magic but never any answers to his true identity.

Gilgamesh the Wanderer, whoever he is, cares nothing about immortality and is horrified at the lengths that the ancient king went to in or-der to satisfy his obsession. This Gilgamesh is a champion of light who fights wrong wherever he finds it. However, his lost past is always gnawing at him and he wishes he could find out who he really is (in many ways he hopes he is not the ancient king). Perhaps someday, he will cross paths with the Cyber-Mancer and learn the answer.

HISTORY
Marcus Meleagrus is an experienced Undead Slayer who had fought the forces of evil for twenty years. He met Gilgamesh the Wanderer in the middle of a fight with a Volute Metzla which was ravaging the countryside of the world Gilgamesh was visiting. Endiku and three other Undead Slayers attacked the monster, but when Gilgamesh arrived, only Meleagrus was left. Gilgamesh took the monster by surprise, and the two heroes destroyed it. Meleagrus' appearance was very similar to King Gilgamesh's mythical friend Endiku and seemed to spark some memory in the young warrior. Gilgamesh isn't certain why he asked him if he was Endiku or why that name seems so warm and comforting. Meleagrus was intrigued (he knew the stories of the Pantheon of Sumer) and Gilgamesh told him his tale of amnesia and about the diary and its saga.

The Undead Slayer and the Wanderer have become close friends, and are both working for a way to restore his memory. In the meanwhile, the two have fought Splugorth minions, vampires, demons and other monsters for several years now, and have become a deadly team. They have also clashed with members of the Olympus Club and are not on good terms with them. Since Gilgamesh might be the legendary king, the Atlantean has agreed to adopt the name of the ancient hero, Endiku, who, according to Gilgamesh the Wanderer, died long ago.

HISTORY
Hyrr'Klean is the hatchet-man of Jupiter. He often goes by Hercules the Destroyer when working for his master. He is often sent to inflict punishment on unfaithful or in-competent followers and the enemies of Jupiter. A city that refuses to offer adequate sacrifices, for instance, might be visited by Hercules, who would go on a destructive rampage until his master re-called him. The demon also acts as the intelligence's bodyguard. Violent, murderous and sadistic. He will strike and kill without provocation unless he is under orders not to do so. Rarely speaks, and when he does he is direct and to the point. Likes to bully and intimidate allies, unless he is sure they are more powerful than he is.

Hercules the Destroyer has recently had a run-in with an Atlantean undead slayer. The Atlantean defeated him and liberated a chain of slaves the fake god was taking for sale to the Splugorth. Barely able to escape with his life, Hercules swore revenge and has been granted leave to hunt down this enemy. He has recently discovered that the Atlantean calls himself Endiku Longhair and travels with a man who claims to be the mythical King Gilgamesh. Hercules is planning to kill them both and has hired a motley band of trans-dimensional cutthroats to do the job.

HISTORY
Arthur Curry was born the son of the Atlantean queen Atlanna and the Amnesty Bay lighthouse keeper Tom Curry. Atlanna returned to Atlantis, so Tom was forced to raise Arthur alone. As a child Arthur began to show that he had inherited his mother's gifts. Tom turned to Doctor Stephen Shin, a scientist he saved from a storm, so he could better understand Arthur's abilities.

During the time of Arthur's graduation, Shin attempted to release his research to the public, so Tom destroyed all of it except a phial of Arthur's blood, which he took. Shin paid a treasure hunter known as the Black Manta to retrieve the phial from the Curry household. However, there was a struggle and the stress caused Tom to suffer a heart attack, and he died in the hospital soon after. Arthur then tracked Black Manta down and killed his father, believing it to be Manta himself. He then fled civilization until he was brought to Atlantis by his mother's royal adviser Vulko.

He ruled over Atlantis for a while until he abandoned his role, and his brother Orm took the throne. He went on to form The Others, a team made up of outcasts who would search the globe for the Dead King's Atlantean Weapons so they could be safe guarded. After retrieving the artifacts and keeping the Trident of Neptune, Aquaman parted ways with the Others. At some point between leaving the Others and joining the Justice League, Arthur met and fell in love with Mera, a Xebelian princess sent to kill him.

After leaving Atlantis and coming across a demon-like being activating a device that opened a portal, dozens of the demon-like creatures emerged from the portal and headed to the surface. Upon reaching the surface and witnessing what could only be an invasion force, he then met up with other superheroes such as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814; the Amazonian princess Wonder Woman; the fastest man alive The Flash; the dark vigilante Batman; and Superman who hailed from a dead planet. The group then proceeded to kill any of the invaders who got in their way as they attempted to stop the invasion force. The group then met up with a Cyborg. The Cyborg told the group that the leader of the invasion force comes from world to world harvesting any organic material. At that point, an-other portal opened and the ruler of the invaders, Darkseid, stepped through.

The tyrant used his telekinetic power to crush the whole group, rendering a majority of them un-conscious, including Arthur. Upon awakening, the Flash told the group that Superman had been taken by Darkseid's forces. Coordinating their attacks, the group attempted to blind Darkseid so his energy beams would be ineffective. While the team was distracting Darkseid, Batman traveled to the home base of Darkseid- the planet Apokolips- to save Superman. Cyborg then used his built-in mother box to open several portals. All of Darkseid's minions were pushed back through the portal. Wonder Woman and Arthur then blinded Darkseid, and with the help of Superman, the team were able to push the tyrant back to Apokolips. After saving the world from Darkseid's invasion the superheroes were heralded as heroes and given the name Justice League.

Arthur took on a ward in the form of a boy named Garth who became the first Aqualad. Aqualad would go on to join the Teen Titans and have many adventures until the world's mind was erased by Mister Twister making them forget about the Teen Titans. This included Aquaman, who forgot about raising Garth and taking him on as Aqualad. As such Garth became oblivious to his history and joined the Atlantean Army, unaware of his past with Arthur and the Teen Titans.

As Aquaman, Arthur Curry began protecting Boston, having decided to completely abandon Atlantis to pursue a life on land with Mera. Boston was attacked by a carnivorous underwater species called The Trench, and Aquaman and Mera fended off the invasion.

Chasing the Trench, which had taken hostages, to the Marianas Trench, they discovered the predators dying out and desperately trying to feed their children in the remnants of an Atlantean craft. The heroes saved the captives, and Aquaman reluctantly caused the Trench's extinction to prevent further loss of human life. During the U.S. Navy's investigation of the hideout after the fact, Aquaman came in contact with the ship's black box, discovering a centuries-old warning inside.

Reuniting with an old ally of Aquaman's named Ya'Wara from his days with the Others, Aquaman and Mera were informed that Black Manta had killed Kahina the Seer, another former member of the Others, and had taken one of the Artifacts of Atlantis—the Seal of Clarity which she was guarding. In order to ensure their safety, Aqua-man and Ya'Wara began to work together to contact the Others in case Black Manta had gotten to them. First they traveled to the United States Health Center in Heidelberg, Germany in search of Prisoner-of-War before Manta am-bushed them, stole Ya'Wara's necklace, and escaped.

Once the Others were finally assembled, one of their members called the Operative informed them that Black Manta planned to steal the Dead King's Scepter. Although the Others tracked down the villain's location and Aquaman managed to defeat Manta, the he-roes did not succeed in time to stop Manta from delivering the scepter to a mysterious stranger and Vostok-X was killed.

Arthur and the League took down the villain Spore, an A.R.G.U.S. employee who had been exposed to a virus when an unknown individual stole the Orb of Ra. Over their next few missions the League was followed around by Aqua-man's frenemy Green Arrow, who insisted he should join the team, however the League wasn't opening ranks due to their last new addition Martian Manhunter. The Jus-tice League realized soon after this that someone was attacking the League's enemies such as the Key and the Scavenger, to find out the Justice League's weaknesses in both body and mind. After interrogating several of the villains they all gave a single name- Graves.

Shortly after this, Aquaman was saving the inhabitants of a sunken cruise ship when he was called to the Watchtower by Cyborg. The Justice League discussed the threat that this "Graves" faced when Graves entered the Watch-tower with Steve Trevor's codes and attacked the League. The entire League was defeated by the spirits Graves controlled. Graves then vanished from the scene. They then went to Tracy Trevor's and she explained that Graves was the author David Graves who had previously praised the League after they saved his family during Darkseid's invasion. However, Graves's family had gotten sick and died, and he went missing after he gained the sickness. Graves believed that the League caused the illness. After a brief skirmish between Lantern and Wonder Woman over the League's priorities, they all headed to the Valley of Souls where Graves had been imbued with his power. They were then set upon by illusions of their biggest losses. The League were soon snapped out of the illusion as Trevor arrived. They then fought off Graves and his Asuran masters, and Aquaman was able to break Graves' connection to the Asuras, ending his terror.

After the defeat of David Graves, Batman and Aquaman were having arguments about which one of them should lead the Justice League, as the team needed greater stability after Green Lan-tern left. These arguments were postponed due to the emergence of Wonder Woman's enemy Cheetah who had defeated her enemy and disappeared. The League tracked Cheetah to a jungle where she ambushed them and bit Superman. Superman then fell under her control and attacked the League. Cheetah fled the scene as the tribe of the Cheetah fled. After helping to secure Superman and return him to normal, the leader of the tribe explained the origin of the Cheetah. The League then chased Cheetah around the forest until Aquaman apprehended her.

After a series of aggressive moves made by the U.S. government on the area surrounding Atlantis, the underwater state declared war on the surface world. Though Aqua-man wanted to stop the conflict peacefully with the help of the Jus-tice League, he soon learned that his own half-brother Orm was leading the invasion.

Conflicted between his loyalties to the Justice League and Atlantis, Aquaman learned by investigating into the matter that Orm had not caused the mysterious attacks by the United States in order to start the war, instead, the culprit was Vulko, who was exiled from Atlantis after Curry's departure and wanted revenge.

Battling Orm's oncoming fleet in Boston, Aquaman tried to explain to his brother the conspiracy brought on by Vulko, though Orm refused to stand down. Usurping Orm and declaring himself king once more, Aquaman ended the war on the surface and declared the arrests of both Vulko and Orm.

Once king again, Aquaman soon received news that Mera had dis-appeared inside the Bermuda Tri-angle. He traveled to the Triangle and reached the kingdom of Xebel, Mera's homeland, where he came face to face with the Dead King, who had imprisoned the entire city in ice. After freeing Mera and fighting the Dead King, Aquaman and Mera retreated to Atlantis to find the city under attack by the villainous Scavenger's fleet. Aquaman summoned Topo, a massive underwater monster, with his telepathy to destroy the Scavenger's forces, but the strain of con-trolling the beast caused him to go into a coma just as the Dead King arrived to reclaim Atlantis.

Aquaman awakened six months later under Vulko's care in Antarctica. Returning to Atlantis, Arthur commanded the Trench to liberate his home from its tyrant. After a lengthy brawl, Arthur killed the Dead King, being acknowledged as the king of Atlantis once again.

Aquaman was reunited with the Others when Vostok-X's helmet was stolen from The Living Room by a twisted version of animals. The Others tracked the helmet to the location of the thief, where it was revealed that the helmet was stolen by Morgaine le Fey, an im-mortal sorceress, member of the Immortal Men and sister of Madame Xanadu.

Morgaine wanted the helmet due to its magical properties; the helmet rid the user of the need of sustenance which would allow her to finally leave the Earth. When Arthur and the others arrived Morgaine cast illusions on each of the Others, giving them the chance to join her or die. Arthur, Operative, Prisoner-Of-War and Sky Alchesay all denied but Ya'Wara opted to join her as she believed Morgaine could help her save the Amazon Rainforest. Morgaine was defeated by the Others and Ya'Wara was brought to her senses shortly after.

Sometime after defeating Morgaine, the Others came under at-tack from a covert military force trying to retrieve the Artifacts; all of these attempts were futile as Aquaman and the Others were able to fight them off each time. The operatives then kidnapped Kahina the Seer's sister Sayeh wanting access to her Precognition. Arthur and the others were then ambushed by Anton Solokov and his sister Darya who were behind the attacks. They then transported the Others to their castle in Trezygstan where they met the true enemy, Legend.

Legend revealed that he was from the time of the Dead King and that he had stolen his father's enchanted gold and then murdered him. Atlan then used the Gold to forge the Atlantean Weapons, and Legend had been trying to get the gold back since then. Ya'Wara was tele-ported to the moon in the conflict and discovered a clone of Vostok which after returning to Earth helped Aquaman and the Others defeat Legend and the Solokov twins, killing Legend in the process. Sayeh and Vostok 2 joined the Others after the battle.

After the fight with Legend, Opera-tive was ambushed during a deal by the KGBeast who threw him off a building. Operative was saved by Vostok and continued to fight with the KGBeast until he was over-whelmed by both opponents. Cheshire then helped the Beast escape as Aquaman appeared on the scene. Cheshire and KGBeast then met up with the rest of their team, a group of villains known as Mayhem whose members includ-ed Maelstrom, Strangehold, Braze, Cheshire, KGBeast and NKVDemon.

With the drive retrieved from the conflict with Operative - which contained nuclear launch codes - Mayhem planned to threaten the World and usurp whatever they wanted from it. To make matters worse for Arthur the Prisoner-Of-War became possessed by one of the soldiers he absorbed. However, Aquaman and the Others were able to contain the soldier and free the Prisoner-Of-War. Operative corrupted the launch codes before Mayhem could fire any Nuclear Missiles. The Others and Mayhem then fought on an abandoned Prison Island ending the threat.

Months after Orm's invasion of the surface the Justice League began considering opening their ranks to new membership. After a semi-audition of the heroes who had assisted the League during the invasion the League picked three new members- Firestorm, Element Woman and The Atom (Rhonda Pineda).

Around this time the League watchtower was hacked with a message- have a nice day. On the day of the new members' introduction the Batcave was attacked by a mysterious figure who had defeated Red Hood and Alfred and taken a Kryptonite Ring. Upon investigation Batman and Aquaman weren't able to find a possible culprit, meanwhile the new members were fighting off the villain Despero who had entered the Watch-tower- causing it to crash down to Earth, however the heroes were able to defeat the alien when they discovered that it bore the kryptonite ring.

After the League arrived on the scene Batman and Cyborg noticed that a microscopic slither of kryptonite was missing from the ring. While Superman and Wonder Woman were imprisoning Despero they were met upon by the woman who let evil upon the World Pandora who gave Superman her box as she hoped that his pure heart would activate the box sealing all evil up once again, however this failed so she vanished. Shortly after this the League received a message that a superhero had entered Kahndaq which was against the law. The Justice League entered Kahndaq and attempted to apprehend Shazam with the help of Zatanna before the situation escalated. Soon after this the government supported Justice League of America arrived on the scene, the arrival of this team quickly lead to conflict after Superman killed Doctor Light with his Heat Vision. Superman quickly ended the fight and ordered the Justice League of America to arrest him.

While Superman was in custody Wonder Woman met with the Jus-tice League Dark, as she believed they could help her find Pandora's Box which she thought had corrupted Superman. Believing nothing good would come of Wonder Woman finding the box, Amanda Waller sent the JL and JLA to apprehend Wonder Woman. Upon locating Wonder Woman she was able to convince several members of the JL teams to help in her search, including Aquaman. Eventually, the team tracked Pandora down to Lex Luthor's cell where the box began corrupting the League members one by one. John Constantine was able to get the box and teleported away before any more harm could be done. Upon tracking down the box to where the team was thrown into turmoil once more. At that moment the mysterious leader of the Secret Society of Super-Villains known as the Out-sider took the box. Atom then revealed that it was her that planted Kryptonite in Superman's brain- causing him to kill Doctor Light, as she was a mole for the Outsider called Atomica. Cyborg was then expelled from his body by one of his programs calling itself Grid who was working for the pair and had hacked the Watchtower. Outsider then activated the box revealing it to be a portal to another world and a figure who looked like Aquaman came out and instantly died. Then more evil versions of the Justice League came out of the portal with Outsider and Atomica joining them, they attacked the heroes claiming the World as the property of the Crime Syndicate.

As the Justice Leagues began fighting the Syndicate Deathstorm, the evil counterpart of Firestorm, blasted Firestorm causing him to have a nuclear reaction. This reaction dragged almost every hero present into the Firestorm Matrix including Arthur. The Syndicate then put Firestorm in the hands of Despero who created illusions for each hero so they wouldn't have a chance of escaping the Matrix and stopping the Syndicate. Aquaman was thrown in an illusion where all sealife had been killed by humans that put him in an endless cycle of sorrow and rage. Months later Batman was able to take down the Crime Syndicate with the help of a group of villains including Black Manta called the Injustice League and free the League. As a result of the conflict Black Manta, Ocean Master and many other villains escaped imprisonment and all the Crime Syndicate members had died apart from Grid, Ultraman, Owlman and Superwoman. Also Lex Luthor and Captain Cold were taken into consideration for Justice League membership due to their heroic actions in the invasion.

Shortly after the invasion, the League began hunting various members of the Secret Society while trying to find evidence that Luthor hadn't reformed. Agreeing that they needed to know what had happened to the Crime Syndicate's Earth they began hunting down the ring used by the deceased Syndicate member Power Ring as it held information on the upcoming threat. Eventually the team were able to locate the Ring in Oregon where it had found a new host in the form of Jessica Cruz When they arrived on site Cruz was wreaking havoc due to the ring controlling her and their was an-other team on the site- The Doom Patrol. Upon approaching the team their leader The Chief said he would bring the girl in to keep her from hurting anyone. The teams clashed with Aquaman fighting Robotman, the fighting stopped when Batman was able to calm Cruz down- freeing her from the ring's influence temporarily. They then took Cruz back to base where Arthur and Barry watched over her. At the same time Superman, Bat-man and Wonder Woman decided to allow Luthor in the League to keep an eye on him.

After saving some Atlantean work-ers from lava vents an alert was triggered that a giant creature was attacking the coast. This creature turned out to be the Karaqan a legendary Atlantean guardian, despite this Aquaman killed the beast to halt its rampage. Aquaman tracked a piece of the Karaqan's brain to an underwater facility called Triton Base (that had siphoned a piece of the brain from the Karaqan's corpse) where he proceeded to save a diver named Coombs from some sharks although he was critically injured in the attack.

On a trip to the surface world the Trident of Neptune was stolen by a researcher named Daniel Evans so he could learn more about ancient Atlantis, Aquaman was not able to stop him from accidentally unleashing the dreaded Giant-Born upon the world from an artifact. The beasts, who recognized Aquaman's Atlantean royal symbol, attacked him for associating with the ancient family who once imprisoned them.

Though he managed to fend off the Giant-Born, also unleashed from that artifact was the ancient hero Hercules, whose mind had been warped after having such an extended stay in the hellish land-scape he was trapped in. He, too, was defeated by Aquaman, who sent him back into the artifact and swore that he would one day find a way to help the man reclaim his sanity.

Tracking the escaped Giant-Born to Carcassonne in France, Aquaman enlisted the help of Wonder Woman who with the help of Daniel Evans put a stop to the evil abominations.

An unstoppable Algae monster had begun terrorizing the ocean, killing everything in its way. Looking for a solution to the problem Aquaman and Ya'Wara went searching for the Swamp Thing in hopes of answers. However, when confronting the Avatar of the Green no answers were given and he simply fled.

When Aquaman returned to com-bat the monster Swamp Thing was trying to commune with it, he then had Swamp Thing eaten by Sea-cows before turning to the Algae monster. Aquaman called on his Atlantean forces to destroy the creature but then it fell apart. It turned out Swamp Thing had learned that it was a part of the uber-consciousness of all plant life that split off and formed a baby reality called Kreuzblütler, which Swamp Thing was able to destroy internally.

In Triton Base, one of the scientist's attempts to create a hybrid creature out of the Karaqan's brain and Coombs' remains was successful, however, the creature escaped the base and began its search for the King of Atlantis.

The creature, now calling itself Chimera, reached out to Arthur through marine telepathy and overpowered Aquaman's connection to sea life, making them attack him. The connection broke and Aquaman looked for answers about his experience which led him to a hospital boat where Stephen Shin was staying ever since Chimera escaped captivity. Chimera attacked Arthur on the boat and overpowered him, but the creature was defeated by an ignited fuel tank which blew it up.

Atlantis was suffering a chain of seaquakes so Aquaman employed the surface researchers Stephen Shin and Daniel Evans to assist in the investigation. It was soon dis-covered that the reason for the quakes was because the city did not see Aquaman as its true ruler; this meant that Atlantis never recognized that Atlanna had died. Aquaman discovered her body was not in her tomb. He then proceeded to open an investigation with the help of the Martian Man-hunter. This led him to the The Maelstrom Gate where he opened a portal in search of answers.

The portal opened in Gorilla City where he was greeted by Lord Solovar ruler of the city. He asked if anyone had come through the portal years ago and Solovar told that Grodd had the answers, after quickly dispatching Grodd he was told that a woman came through some 15 years ago. He then reentered the portal.

The portal led to the Polynesian seas where Aquaman and Mera were directed to a portal guarded by Fire Trolls. They defeated the Trolls and entered the portal traveling to a hidden island named Pacifica. They were then attacked by Atlanna and her Atlantean tribe who did not believe who Arthur was. After Aquaman was knocked unconscious by Atlanna, she at-tempted to sacrifice him to Karaku the Volcano God and ruler of the Island. However he escaped and Karaku attacked the tribe out of anger, sending legions of fire trolls on them. The God was then defeated by Mera and Atlanna realized Aquaman is her son. After abruptly departing from Pacifica Aquaman received a message in the form of a Shell of Sounds from his mother.

Arthur heard rumors of alien structures and poisoned water in the kingdom so lead an investigation team to one of the sites. The water it emitted stung to the touch so the team destroyed the structure. As they realized more structures were appearing Arthur speculated that it was an invasion force from another dimension. While investigating, Arthur determined that the particular structure harbored refugee Atlanteans who had escaped the torment of the other dimension and were led by a warlock named Extriax.

Upon returning to Atlantis, Aqua-man was attacked by Mera who believed not destroying the structures due to the possible refugees inside would cause the downfall of the World. Cast out from Atlantis, Aquaman visited Poseidon hoping to receive the strength to stop the invading dimension and take back Atlantis. As a response Poseidon gave him the powers of lightning, earth, water, ice and flight as well as a trident.

Continuing to destroy as many structures as he could on land and in the sea, while fighting off any forces coming through the portals, Aquaman continued to run from Atlantis and saved as many refugees as possible. He learned that the alternate dimension was known as Thule, and that during King Atlan's rule an organization of sorcerers known as the Coven of Thule orchestrated wars so they could rule in the shadows, however the King put a stop to this so they created a pocket dimension where they could rule indefinitely. The Coven then built up an invasion force, conquering worlds on their plain so they would be ready when the spell was lifted.

After escaping an Atlantean task force led by Garth Arthur visited Mera to try to convince her of his cause. However Mera revealed that she was not actually Mera, but her sister Hila who was working as ruler of Atlantis for the Coven of Thule. After escaping from Atlantis, the Justice League sought out Arthur as they wanted to know what was causing the worldwide calami-ty. After filling the League in, Arthur instructed them to destroy any invading forces in countries across the world. While the League was spearheading the defense, Arthur was to invade Atlantis.

Aquaman attacked Atlantis using sea monsters to help him topple the large quantities of enemies. After saving Mera from captivity the pair defeated Hila and headed to the Coven's lair. With the help of Garth, Murk, Swatt, his step-sister Tula and Mera, Aquaman was able to destroy the Coven and all portals across the World, sacrificing his blessings in the process. After the war was over Arthur inducted the refugees into Atlantis.

Sometime after the Thule invasion, Aquaman began to develop relations with the surface world by creating Spindrift Station, an Atlantean embassy on American soil. He appointed Mera as head of relations between Atlantis and the sur-face world under the guise of Aquawoman. Meanwhile, he assisted the F.B.I. in the investigation of multiple murders related to an unknown sea creature which the press was calling Dead Water.

During this investigation, he was attacked by the creature who could teleport through water bodies. He was able to defeat the creature and it was revealed that he was a nor-mal man who had worked for Scavenger named Jonah Payne and was lashing out against people who had wronged him as Dead Water. Aquaman, now knowing this, confronted Scavenger and defeated him. He was then in-formed that Jonah Payne had disappeared months earlier during a salvage op in a strange water body. Aquaman and Scavenger were then attacked by Dead Water and Payne was killed in the fight.

While making delegations with representatives regarding a Mutual Defense Pact between his home nation of Atlantis and the rest of the world, he made a statement of how it was little more than an excuse for people of power to study atlantean craft while their respective nations kept WMD's pointed at his waters.

As he reassured them Atlantis held no malice to the surface so long as the rest of the world left them in peace, Arthur received word of a foreigner in his kingdom searching for a way into Olympus. Reaching his kingdom, the emissary pro-claimed the time of false gods was over and that he was there to free Atlantis and it's people from their yoke. debating about the presence of gods whom Arthur didn't believe in. He left the prophet among his people, having faith that they would be no more interested in serving Rao than they were in the worship of the long abandoned Poseidon.

He quickly came to regret that decision however when he and his beloved saw a prophet convert a resisting citizen into one of their flock. After Mera worriedly asked about his leaving one of the prophets in Atlantis, Arthur immediately demanded him to leave. Only to find the situation had escalated and his people quickly turned on him when he reacted violently to the Prophets acclaiming Roa's sovereignty over his home. After the Prophets failed attempt at destroying what was left of Olympus, Arthur woke up alongside Wonder Woman on the newly restored home of the gods.

The latter stating since the mindset of Olympus's ruler shapes the environment, it reflected whatever she; as the Goddess of War and sole god remaining there, wished it to be. In the wake of current events, the two headed to the armory in order to prep for war against Rao and his followers. Heading into Ares' old munitions bunker, Diana took several weapons of the gods from the arsenal, even handed Aquaman the relic of Atlantis's former sea god.

As Superman battles Rao in the arctic circle, Diana managed to teleport herself and Arthur into the fray, and delivered critical blows to the would-be god with their divine instruments, but soon relented when Kal-El revealed that any damage the mad deity suffered killed all of those who were under his thrall, as it was their life-force which fed and sustained him. Through Batman's planning, use of Parasite teamed with the rest of the League, they were able to sever their adversaries link to the en-slaved populace of the earth. But at the cost of Clark's life. Aquaman did his best to console his team-mate, when Wonder Woman struck his body with the Bolt of Zeus; Arthur and the others were surprised and gladdened to find Clark was among the living again. Just as Rao reconvened with old world Krypton, bringing it back with him to present day in Earth's Orbit with an army of Kryptonians at his beck and call.

As the league struggled to deal with the steadily empowering Kryptonian army set against them, Arthur rebutted the invading Dwalu who dismissed him as a fish-man whose god long since abandoned him. Right around when he used the Trident of the old Sea Monarch to summon a tidal wave to sweep them all aside. With help from the Infinity Corporation execs, the yellow sun of the earth was turned into a Red giant through the Stones of Life. Depowering all the Kryptonian forces, while Rao was undone by his younger self as the Justice League assembled where the ty-rant met his demise.

Garth was reunited with his former friends on the Teen Titans and together they were able to defeat Mister Twister and get their memories back after years. This meant Arthur remembered adopting Garth and having him as Aqualad. With his new found friends Garth went on to form a group known as the Titans. During Wally West's attempt to escape the Speed Force Arthur brought Mera to Paradise Island near where they first met. Here he proposed to her and she said yes.

Arthur heard news of a threat to the surface world: a group of Atlantean extremists known as the Deluge led by Corum Rath, who wanted nothing to do with the surface world. The group was heading up stream to Boston with enough fusion charges to level the whole city. Fortunately, Aquaman was able to stop this from happening as he defeated the terrorists before they could cause another war between Atlantis and the Surface World.

During a diplomatic meeting in Spindrift Station a bomb went off and Aquaman was attacked by Black Manta, who was attempting to ruin Atlantis' negotiations with the surface world. Aquaman and Manta fought to a stand still until Aquaman allowed Manta to kill him, believing that Manta wouldn't as it would render his life meaning-less. Black Manta chose to surrender and Arthur met up with Mera to check on her well-being. When he returned to the embassy it was on lockdown by the U.S. army due to the terrorist attack.

Aquaman and Mera travelled to the White House and met with the Chief of Staff to get Spindrift up and running again. However, Arthur was arrested after a U.S. war-ship named Pontchartrain was sunken by a group of "Atlanteans" claiming to be the Deluge. In order to stop a war from taking place Aquaman agreed to go along with the United States' wishes. However tensions grew worse as the Drift had been caught investigating the wreckage of the Pontchartrain, causing U.S. forces to attack them. This prompted Mera to break Arthur out of jail and the two fought through battalions of U.S. soldiers in an attempt to reach the open ocean. However, this was stopped when Superman arrived and tried to convince Arthur to stand down. Not convinced by Superman's plea, Arthur began to attack him until the Atlantean forces arrived to protect him. After receiving an or-der from Superman to fix the conflict Aquaman retreated to Atlantis and began to look for a way to halt the forthcoming war.

Upon return to Atlantis, Murk dis-played one of the helmets used by the Deluge during the attack on the Pontchartrain, it was at this moment that Arthur realized someone was trying to start a war between Atlantis and the surface world and that they were surface dwellers as the Atlantean helm had breathing apparatus on it. After making this discovery Arthur interrogated Corum Rath about the helmet but learnt he knew nothing, so he had F.B.I. agents Reagan Irving and Arni Ajar investigate the gear on the surface world.

Aquaman learnt of a giant monster heading towards Atlantis that was believed to have been released by the organization behind the conflict. When Arthur went to investigate the creature it attacked him and laid waste to him and all of his forces. Arthur realized that the monster was a creature known as the Shaggy Man, an unstoppable being that had gone toe to toe with the whole Justice League at once. After carving a path through Atlantis the monster headed to the sur-face world where it began laying waste to Amnesty Bay. Arthur faced the creature alone for the fate of the world and managed to defeat it by teleporting it into space using his Justice League teleportation card, seriously injuring himself in the process.

When Mera visited him in hospital she told him that she had spoken to Lieutenant Joanna Stubbs of the British Navy who had told her that a shadow organization known as the National Enforcement Macrocosmic Order (N.E.M.O.) was behind the conflict. After receiving this information Arthur informed the Justice League who helped ease the tension by heralding Aquaman as a hero. As relations began to take a more positive turn, news of an Atlantean invasion hit the world.

N.E.M.O. had invaded several cities along the coast using Atlantean weaponry and tactics, making it seem like Atlantis was attacking the surface world. As a result of this America declared war on Atlantis destroying any Atlantean vessels they found. As the conflict rose and N.E.M.O. continued at-tacking American soil, the Justice League agreed to help Aquaman by attempting to prove N.E.M.O.'s existence. As the Justice League and Tula (The Regent of Atlantis) headed to the White House with the proof the F.B.I agents found, Arthur travelled to fend off U.S. forces invading Atlantis. Arthur discovered that his adversaries were actually N.E.M.O. and not Americans. He attempted to capture them as proof of N.E.M.O.'s involvement, however their heads exploded from a coral implant in their heads which was triggered by a strong signal.

After learning about the League's failure to negotiate with the President, Arthur consolidated with his council on what to do next but was attacked by a covert group of U.S. soldiers known as Aquamarines, who were biologically engineered to kill the King of Atlantis. Aqua-man survived the assassination attempt and incarcerated the Aquamarines, it was then that Aqua-man realized he could track the signal put off by the coral brain bombs to their source, leading him to the leader of N.E.M.O.. Aqua-man tracked the signal to its source where he discovered that Black Manta was the "Fisher King" who had orchestrated the entire war. After defeating Manta and his N.E.M.O. forces, the Fisher King blew himself and his men up in an attempt to leave no proof of N.E.M.O.'s existence, seemingly killing him and his lieutenant Black Jack. After having a meeting with the President and providing proof of N.E.M.O.'s existence, Aquaman was able to redevelop peaceful relations with the surface world.

After his conflict with N.E.M.O. and Manta, Arthur began a campaign of peace between Atlantis and the Surface World. This was going smoothly until he heard a mind in great pain, and after tracking it to its source at Beckman College, Aquaman found what seemed to be a machine. He was then at-tacked by people the Machine was controlling, and after he managed to defeat them the machine at-tempted to control Arthur. Aqua-man learned that the robot was a man named Siyu who was experimented on to become the cyborg known as Warhead. As Warhead, he was leased to the Kahndaqi military and sent to target rebels. When victory was achieved, the Kahndaqis ordered Warhead to wipe out all the rebels but he re-fused as he saw it as an act of vengeance. The Kandaqi military was not pleased that he didn't follow orders and tried to destroy him. Warhead escaped and traveled across the world, seeking safety. Eventually, he fled to New York to find a secure location to begin re-pairs. Now knowing the truth, Aquaman brought him to Atlantis where he could recover.

After negotiating with Warhead Aquaman was contacted by the Leader of the Aquamarines Major Ricoh of the reemergence of the Dead Water problem. She in-formed him that Scavenger had woken from his coma and told the government the location of the strange water, or 'H2.0' as it was being called. Unfortunately a U.S. base was already set up at the lo-cation and the research team had gone missing. Aquaman agreed to help and he, Mera and the Aqua-marines rendezvoused with Scavenger and the F.B.I. agents Ajar and Irving at the research base. Upon investigation the team dis-covered a device that the re-searchers had been building be-fore they went missing. Suddenly Specialist Ollie was murdered by a new Dead Water.

After fighting off the Dead Water Aquaman and Mortimer began finishing the device, which believed would hurt the new Dead Water. Meanwhile the Aquamarines prepared a mini nuke to blow the sinkhole in case the situation got out of hand. Dead Water reemerged so Aquaman activated the device turning back into a human who was then shot by one of the Aquamarines. After I.D.ing him as one of the researchers Laurence Quinn Aquaman decided to go investigate the sinkhole with Mera. Within the sinkhole Arthur and Mera discovered a portal to another planet, upon entering the planet told Arthur through Marine Telepathy that it was called Tethys. After analyzing water samples from the lagoon the team discovered that the other researchers were in the water shredded.

It turned out that Tethys was trying to make contact but was keeping any non-marine life out as a defense mechanism. It was doing this by generating fear in intruders, if they kept close to the border for too long and got too scared they would transform into a Dead Water. On the surface the Scavenger set the nuke to blow to stop the Dead Waters from coming. However this made Agent Ajar transform into a Dead Water, which in turn made Scavenger transform as well. To stop them from causing the death of everyone Aquaman threw the nuke into the portal severing the connection between Earth and Tethys. This ended the Dead Water problem once and for all as Scavenger and Ajar transformed back.

After the events of H2.O the people of Atlantis became slowly more upset with Arthur's actions. The people set Corum Rath free and he and his followers attacked Aqua-man and Mera. After being broken up by the high council, Arthur dis-cussed the necessity of connecting to the surface world for the Atlantean people. However the council disagreed and had Tula imprisoned while the people decided on Arthur's fate.

After Mera and Tula returned to the lighthouse, Arthur was voted out of the throne by the council and Corum Rath was crowned. Using an Atlantean artifact known as the Crown of Thorns, Rath placed a massive energy shield around Atlantis so that no one could get in or out. Arthur attempted to escape Atlantis so he could formulate a plan, but the authorities caught up with him and he was seemingly killed by Murk.

After being stabbed by Murk under Rath's orders, Arthur somehow survived and began defending people from Rath's regime in the Ninth Tride. During his time in the Tride he met a mutant named Dolphin who helped him escape the local authorities. Dolphin took Arthur to one of the mutant havens in the Ninth Tride where Aquaman listened to their strife. Meanwhile Mera was using all of her hydrokinetic power against the barrier to no avail, and Vulko was plotting a way to break down the barrier and get help after he escaped prison during Corum Rath's release. A mutant crime lord named Krush caught wind of the rumors of Arthur's survival and sent a rogue Magician named Kadaver after the Dead King.

Aquaman and Dolphin fought Kadaver but were eventually over-whelmed and captured. After learning that Krush intended to use Arthur as a power play with the King, Arthur and Dolphin escaped Kadaver and fled the area. At the same time Atlantean warlocks were attempting to arrest Mera and Tempest after she had employed him in helping take down the shield. Also Vulko had gained the alliance of the Widowhood who were trying to break down the Crown from the inside.

While Arthur was deciding his next move, Mera and Tempest fought off the Atlantean warlocks but were quickly overwhelmed by the war-locks' superior power. Tempest managed to grab a pendant from one of the warlocks which allowed the user to travel through the Crown of Thorns - with this pendant Mera was finally able to break into Atlantis. During this time Vulko was able to retrieve the Trident of Neptune which he intended to use against the Crown. When Krush went to meet with Corum Rath and tell him that Aquaman was still alive he was killed by Commander Murk.

Arthur rescued a group of rebels from drift forces who were led to the beastmaster of Atlantis Jurok Byss. Upon rendezvousing with the rebellion, Vulko returned the Tri-dent of Neptune to Arthur who be-came the figurehead of the rebel-lion. Meanwhile, a complication with the pendant made it so Mera couldn't breathe after she passed through the barrier, and she was captured by King Shark who in-tended to become the next big crime boss in Krush's place.

Aquaman and the rebel group- the Undercurrent continued to save people from Rath's rule, as he was now exterminating all life in the lower tides of Atlantis attempting to purge Atlantis of its petty people. Fortunately all the magical energy in the air empowered Arthur and his relic of power making him even more formidable then before. Aquaman and the Undercurrent concluded that to take back Atlantis they would need to bring down the Crown of Thorns so people would join their cause. Arthur and Dolphin travelled to meet with King Shark to negotiate a deal for his support. King Shark attacked Arthur but Aquaman was able to convince him to help the cause. He then noticed that Dolphin had let off her Photokinesis ability so he rushed to help her, Dolphin had discovered Mera with breathing apparatus. After breaking Mera out Arthur followed an Undercurrent member- Ondine to the Tower of the Widowhood. It turned out that Ondine was an agent of the Widowhood who was reporting back to Reverend Mother Cetea.

Cetea told Arthur that they were keeping Mera stable but the magic halting her breathing would kill her in ten hours, and that in order to stop this she would need to be taken to the surface to recuperate. Cetea said that Mera was to be the next Queen of Atlantis as she would be perfect for the role, but first they would need to save her and take down King Rath. With the Undercurrent and King Shark refusing to assault the Crown of Thorns, Aquaman went after the artifact himself. Aquaman ran into heavy resistance from Magister Loke's Silent School who served as the protectorate force to the Crown of Thorns, and were on the verge of being overrun by their magics. King Shark rallied his Ninth Tride gangs and came at the last second to aid the Undercurrent rebels and their leader, causing enough of a distraction for Aquaman to undo the enchantment holding up the Crown, but time was quickly running out for Mera. Aquaman, after being further empowered by the Quindent, managed to escort his wife away from the sea just in time to keep her from drowning. As she awoke he told her that he loved her and always would, just as Tula came up to them by the shore of their lighthouse at Amnesty Bay. His beloved now safe on land, Arthur told his half-sister that he was returning to Atlantis, seeking to dethrone Rath once and for all.

The Justice League were alerted of a unwarranted presence on American soil and went to investigate. They discovered that it was a malfunctioning mech piloted by the Justice League of China and after bringing the mech down the Chinese Superman told the team that he was looking for a Chinese artifact that would imbue him with enough power to take down the embodiment of Yang All-Yang. Superman and Superman travelled to the location while Aqua-man and the other Leaguers clean up from the battle. However this didn't go to plan as All-Yang was able to open a portal to the demi-god dimension causing Asuras to come through and reek havoc. Due to their nature the Asuras couldn't be harmed by anything either League could throw at them. How-ever the Chinese Superman was able to channel the power of both Ying and use it to defeat both All-Yang and the Asuras.

After saving Mera from Rath's regime, Aquaman helped Batman with saving a covert Wayne Enterprises research team from a natural disaster. He asked Batman what he was hiding from him and the League, a question to which he got no answer. A while later Arthur and the rest of the League were forced to fight in an arena for their lives by Mongul while wearing suits of armor fitted to greatly weaken each member of the League, how-ever this was not enough for them to lose the fight as they were able to defeat Mongul and get back to Earth. Upon return Arthur and the rest of the League travelled to Gotham where according to Alfred Pennyworth a giant mountain had uprooted.

After investigating the mountain Arthur and the League were greeted by the Blackhawk Squadron, a covert team created to deal with apocalyptic events. After travelling to Blackhawk Island, Lady Black-hawk (the leader of the team) explained that the island was once home to Carter Hall, a detective who was stabbed by a special dagger which made him and Lady Blackhawk immortal, who had been looking to discover the location of the impossible metal's (known as Nth Metal) origin. She said that during this investigation Carter Hall and his associates had discovered the existence of a Dark Multiverse much vaster then the Multiverse which housed an evil entity known only as Barbatos - it was at that point when Carter Hall disappeared. Learning that Bat-man would be the portal that would let the evil into the Multiverse, Aquaman and the over Leaguers tried to restrain Batman but Red Tornado interfered allowing him to escape. After failing to capture him a second time Batman accidentally opened the gateway to the Dark Multiverse allowing Barbatos and his "evil Batmen" to come through.

Days later Amnesty Bay came un-der attack by a mysterious figure who could command the sea. When Aquaman and Mera came to defend the town they came into direct contact with the strange woman. This being turned out to be an evil Batman from the Dark Multiverse calling herself the Drowned who intended to transform Amnesty Bay into the Gotham she lost. Mera and Aquaman attacked the Drowned but soon discovered she was superior to them in every way, using her strange abilities to dampen Mera's Hydrokinesis and summon an army of Dead Water's from her world which began to swarm Arthur and Mera. The Drowned then proceeded to infect Mera, turning her into a monstrous minion who began to attack Arthur. Just before the Drowned could kill Arthur he was teleported away by Doctor Fate and brought to the Oblivion Bar where remaining he-roes like the Flash and Green Lan-tern were taking refuge after they had been assaulted by evil versions of themselves.

Aquaman was then informed that an army of Demons led by Barba-tos and his Dark Knights has invaded and that the Knights were probably looking for the Bar. Soon after this Superman and Wonder Woman arrived at the bar and the remaining heroes devised a plan in which Green Arrow said that only items made of Nth Metal could harm the creatures of the Dark Multiverse. The heroes then fled from the bar as the Dark Knights arrived, with Nightmaster sacrificing himself so everyone could escape. After this Aquaman and Deathstroke were tasked with finding a piece of Nth Metal in the Marianas Trench.

While searching for the Nth Metal, Cyborg attempted to create a link between the search teams for better coordination, however Aqua-man was suddenly whisked through a portal to a nightmarish Batcave where the Drowned resided. After a brief struggle with the Drowned and the Dead Water-infected Mera, Arthur was captured and taken to the Cosmic Tuning Fork where the other members of the League had also been captured by their respective Nightmare Batmen. Barbatos intended to hook the League up to the Tuning fork which would provide enough energy to open a portal that would allow the full might of the Dark Multi-verse to come forth. However after tapping into the full power of his Mother Box, Cyborg was able to break free the Justice League, the Resistance, and Raven, leaving the Teen Titans and Task Force X be-hind. From this Aquaman and Deathstroke continued their search. They traveled to the tomb of one of Atlantis' first Kings Arion in search of Nth Metal. There, he and Deathstroke were attacked by Black Manta who revealed he had allied with the Dark Knights. After a short amount of time Arthur and Deathstroke were defeated and captured by the Knights alongside other members of the resistance. At this point Barbatos was able to successfully drag the Multiverse down into the Dark Multiverse.

Shortly afterwards Arthur and the others broke free and began fighting back Barbatos' minions. They then began clearing a path for Wonder Woman to make her way up the mountain and kill Barbatos with Hawkman's Mace. To-wards the end of the fight the Flash arrived with Batmen from around the Multiverse to face down Barbatos. At this point Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman emerged from the Forge of Existence with Tenth Metal. The trio then gave Tenth Metal to Arthur and Green Lantern while Doctor Fate freed the remaining heroes. Hawkman as the new guardian of the Forge battled Barbatos as the team defeated the Dark Knights, with Arthur killing the Drowned. The group came together and connected every mind in the Multiverse with their new powers. With the substantial might gained, the League dragged the Multiverse free of the Darkness and banished Barbatos to the Forge.

After the invasion the team gathered at Wayne Manor for a party where they discussed visions they had experienced while wearing the Tenth Metal, including visions of Atlantis rising once again. They also exchanged troubling words about the state their universe was in as the Source Wall had been broken during the conflict.

As the rebellion got underway, Aquaman was joined by Byss, King Shark and the Undercurrent movement in battling a contingent of the usurper king's Drift squadrons who were sent to purge the Ninth Tride. Aquaman soon lent his assistance when the necrotized Kadaver, who had been corrupted by the Abyssal Dark, similarly cursed the soldiers of the Drift, turning them into undead sea warriors. Arthur soon found himself assaulted by his former comrade Murk, whom sent the accursed Drift after what remained of the rebel movement.

The two got into a heated argu-ment about the current state of affairs, with Murk arguing that eve-rything in Atlantis had fallen apart because of Arthur's weak rule. While admitting he hated the way his former king ran the kingdom, Murk confessed that he purposely missed Arthur's vitals when he seemingly betrayed and killed him at Rath's ascent to the throne. He had hoped he would simply disap-pear and appease the corrupt council who had elected Atlantis' new king.

Instead of murdering his would be assailant, Aquaman chose to lend a helping hand; requesting his former confidant's aid in over-throwing Rath and his regime by using Murk's status as King's Guard Commander to sneak him into the palace as a prisoner of war. As Murk went off to assassinate the king, Arthur ran into Rath's right-hand Urcell fleeing the royal chamber having survived the vicious onslaught of the now hideously monstrous King Rath, who had been transformed by the power of the Abyssal Dark and slaughtered the council for their attempt to dethrone him. Rushing in at the last second, Aquaman saved Murk by engaging with the corrupted Rath. Aquaman was quickly overpowered by the abomination standing before him, even with his magical augmentations.

Murk soon aided Arthur but was grievously wounded in his attempt to save the former king's life. Seeing his ally's poor state of being, Arthur temporarily stunned the behemoth in order to escape with the wounded Murk. Back at the Widowhood's base of operations, Arthur was further chastised by the Reverend Mother Cetea for failing to take advantage of his weakened adversary's state and end Rath for good. Arthur argued that all of the magic in his ceremonial weapon still wasn't enough to deal with the Abyssal Dark-powered Rath, and lost hope in stopping him. Vulko and the rest of the Undercurrent returned to the fold having been backed by the spirits of former Atlantean elders and bringing the corrupted remains of Kadaver along with them.

Elder Null disclosed the full history of the power behind Corum Rath, and informed Aquaman and his allies that the Abyssal Dark entity was a negative byproduct of the Silent School's magical practice from the early days of Atlantis - a demon either born from or drawn by the first mystics of the lost continent, which sought to plague man-kind and the world. Having sealed it away after a ferocious mystic war, it sent out a sirens call to those susceptible to its influence for centuries, eventually finding the Atlanteans' new monarch to be the perfect recipient.

Just as the past elders endowed Aquaman's trident with the remnants of their own protective magics, Rath started laying siege to the Tower of The Widowhood, as it was the foundation of the under-sea capital. Knowing that if it were to fall all of Atlantis would crumble and die, Arthur moved out against his rival throne bearer. He was emboldened by the various enchantments bestowed upon his trident, but to no avail - the grotesque King Corum snapped Aquaman's ancestral keepsake like a twig. Having been cast aside by Rath, Arthur was soon met by Dolphin who had also been wounded by Rath when she tried to assist Arthur. Arthur apologized to Dolphin for failing to be the hero she wished him to be.

The fallen hero's hope was revitalized seeing Mera come into the fray backed by a Xebelian armada. Watching both his beloved and all of his friends fight side by side against Rath spurred Aquaman to stand back up and get into the fight. Arthur urged Dolphin to find cover and rescue everyone she could, before leaping into battle and plunging what was left of his broken trident right into the eye of Rath, driving the Abyssal Dark out of the tyrant monarch and leaving him more fish than man. As the Abyssal Dark died, it told Arthur that it was its magical influence that kept a tragedy from taking place.

As Mera closed in for the killing blow, Arthur instead used his marine telepathy to command Rath away into a deep crevice some-where. Mera questioned what the Abyssal Dark had meant when it delivered its final words, and Arthur and Mera were soon jilted by violent earthquakes that had begun taking place just as everything began to calm down. Aquaman soon remembered back to when he and the Justice League fought back Barbatos and his Dark Knights. In saving the Multiverse using the Tenth Metal, Arthur subconsciously wished he could have a place to call home, one that was both of the land and of the sea much like him-self. The reality-warping power of the Tenth Metal had caused his dream to become a reality, and Atlantis had risen from the depths to the surface.

Arthur waited down in the lower trides even after the continent's upheaval, not wanting to interfere with Mera's coronation as Atlantis' new queen. Arthur was approached by Vulko and revealed part of the reason he was staying out of the limelight was in anticipation for when the leaders of the land inevitably attempt a stealth attack to undermine the new queen and her country. This prediction was ultimately proven true when a surviving member of Rath's inner circle, Urcell, acted as a contact to Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad in a joint effort to depose Queen Mera and return Atlantis back to the ocean floor. Arthur became aware of these happenings through Murk; who still blamed him for raising their city, despite Arthur rebuffing the guard captain for aiding and abetting a madman who nearly destroyed it.

Despite their differences, Arthur implored Murk to keep him posted on the situation, but also to refrain from informing Mera about the incursion by the Suicide Squad in their midst. When the Queen of Atlantis eventually became aware of said events, she was furious that he had tried to sideline her in the situation, but they soon came to an agreement and moved on in finding their insurgents.

Aquaman and Mera were informed about the magically-augmented mini-nuke in the hands of Squad member, Lord Satanis. Though initially hesitant to his idea of calling up assistance from criminals in the Ninth Tride, Mera demanded her betrothed to gather an army of expendables and malcontents to address the situation, forming their own 'Suicide Squad' to confront the American black ops team. Arthur went to King Shark and his gang, and the crime boss was naturally antagonistic towards his former ally. However, when Aquaman mentioned Waller and her Suicide Squad's involvement, he willingly aided the former monarch in preempting their plans, knowing full well what his former employer and her task force was capable of.

Aquaman and his newfound allies were waysided by Satanis as his magical powers were jumped up to extraordinary levels by the magical power held within the Silent School. To cover his tracks as he attempted to finish the mission, the evil conjurer threw up a barrier that neither Arthur nor his own strike team could surpass. Unbeknownst to Satanis, Dolphin was on the other side of the barrier. The former monarch begged Dolphin not to engage Satanis and to let him take him on alone, but she gave him a tearful goodbye much to his heart-break.

Aquaman and his team were able to penetrate the magical barrier thanks to Master Jailer's efforts. Aquaman managed to subdue Satanis before he could murder Dolphin, but with no real means of stopping the nuke, Carl sacrificed his life using one of the Core Vault's artifacts to seal its explosion. The team was able to avoid a calamity and thanks to Harley Quinn, Queen Mera was able to secure evidence of the real culprit behind the day's events.

After witnessing their fight against the Legion of Doom for the Totality, both Aquaman and Wonder Woman predicted that Cheetah and Black Manta would soon make their move against them, which started with the mysterious death of Poseidon. Seeking to find truth from the dead Olympian himself, the two heroes decide to take on a mission: finding the legendary key for the Graveyard of Gods, which could be inside an ancient ship in Antartica. While out for the mission, Diana retrieved the key, but then both her and Arthur were hit by a mysterious force, dragged away from the place.

Arthur found himself in the Blood Reef, the headquarters of three alien gods of the ocean, the Triumvirate of Sea Gods, who out of revenge against Poseidon decided to use their powers to drown the Earth. But as part of their agreement with the Legion of Doom, in exchange of Poseidon's death, they would give Aquaman to his worst enemy: Black Manta. Not only that, but one of the gods, Tyyde, used her powers to strip from Arthur his connection with the Life Force, donating it to Manta instead. Now with the full power of his nemesis in his hands, Manta felt unbeatable, and condemned Arthur into being sent inside a cosmic whirlpool, facing imminent death.

Thrown into the whirlpool, Arthur was saved by Wonder Woman, who found a way to access the Graveyard of Gods thanks to the key she retrieved in Antarctica. Once there, they found Poseidon waiting for both: the Olympian, without apparent reason, decided then to attack Arthur, piercing him with his trident. Aquaman then found himself inside a legendary place, the Dead Sea, where it was told all great mariners went once dead. In there, he went through an odyssey, retracing his whole life, which made him realize he still held in his heart the memory of his father, something he had to let go to fully embrace his destiny. Com-ing back to his senses, Poseidon revealed that what Arthur just experienced was a test, to see if he was worthy of knowing the true history of Arion.

Poseidon then proceeded to tell him how Arion was tricked by the Olympian himself into killing the Triumvirate of Sea Gods, who were never invaders in the first place, just because Poseidon never wanted to share the Life Force with other beings: this gave birth to the terrible Tear of Extinction, a weapon able to void the Life Force. So both the attack by the Triumvirate which drowned the Earth, and Atlantis' own history of reclusion were consequences of Poseidon's selfishness. Poseidon felt guilty about what he did, but now the Tear seemed to be once again the only weapon they could use to turn the tides, and defeat the three sea gods once again. Poseidon told then that the Tear was still hidden inside the bones of old king Arion: Arthur should go and retrieve it, soaking in it Poseidon's trident and using it to kill the enemy.

As the Graveyard of Gods was falling apart, due to the actions of Cheetah and the Legion of Doom, Poseidon used the last of his power to let Aquaman and Wonder Woman escape. Getting back to Earth, Arthur told Diana he believed using the Tear once again would be a mistake, and that they should approach their enemy with another weapon: the truth Posei-don revealed the about Arion. Get-ting to the Tomb of Arion, they were able to save Mera, Superman and Flash from transforming into sea monsters, also informing them about what they lived through. Giving to all of them protections against the magic of the Sea Gods, Aquaman explained Mera his plan to stop the drowning: find a way to convince the Triumvirate to side with Life again.

Aquaman discovered the true story of Arion, and thought he could have a chance for parley. Mera did not agree with Arthur's approach, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Soon after, they discovered Manta convinced the gods to launch the Death Kraken against Earth, as they feared to be struck again by the Tear of Extinction. After freeing Mera from the Tear, which was making her cruel, Aquaman and Mera were both able to convince the Triumvirate to side with them, but Manta, full of blood-lust, killed two of the gods and tried to take over the Death Kraken. After Tyyde gave to Arthur his powers back, Aquaman defeated Manta, who then realized the Kraken was going berserk, with no one able to control him outside of the dead god Drogue. To avoid the death of all life on the planet, Arthur sacrificed himself, hitting the Kraken with all his remaining Life Force.

Finding himself transported at the edge of the Multiverse after his fight against the Death Kraken, Aquaman found there the Anti-Monitor, who revealed to him the true nature of Perpetua. He was then sent on a mission from the Anti-Monitor to help Flash and John Stewart find a shard of the Totality in the past, in 1941. Aqua-man found his teammates, and guided them to Atlantis, where, after convincing Vandal Savage, he was able to use the Conch of Arion to send the Totality shard through Hypertime, so that it would reach the present, and being used as a weapon to counter Perpetua. In the end, the plan failed, giving the forces of Doom, commanded by Lex Luthor, the chance to attack the Hall of Justice.

In the final conflict between Justice and Doom, Arthur was able to fully control the Life Force thanks to the Justice Totality, and participated to the final battle against Luthor. In the end, Perpetua won, and the Multiverse was put under the control of Doom. Arthur, together with the other core members of the League, was saved by the Quintessence, then embarking on a last ride to gather the Anti-Crisis energy to face Perpetua. In the end, the League failed again, and once back to Earth, they found it trans-formed into the Batman who Laughs' Metalverse, as he was now the new right hand of the evil goddess.

After the Anti-Monitor sent him back to Earth, Arthur would first meet back up with his beloved Mera without the knowledge of the world at large. He would soon be-come fearful of the news she'd imparted to him about her maternity and opted to leave shortly after hearing it. Upon his refusal to heed her command in staying however, the Atlantean Queen outright murders him in a fit of rage. Jettisoning her love into the afterlife once again.

Found adrift upon another shore. Arthur; now going by the name Arusio, was welcomed to the re-mote island home of a gaggle of lost denizens located out in the middle of nowhere called Unspoken Water.

They would all trade stories about who they were and what life was like before coming to live there from time to time. Something which was difficult for Arusio due to having lost his memories from his transition to the Sphere of Gods. One night while Caille; the young maiden who found him and nursed him back to full health, was doing ceremonial dance to appease an angry ocean. She was almost swept up by the tide, Arusio moved in order to save her and the waters parted around the two of them in front of everyone who was present.

As Arthur/Arusio started to become restless in his lazy days, he would come to Wee for advice despite earlier friction between the two of them.

He would inquire as to just who and what he is to them, but Wee simply danced around the question rather than provide a straight answer, the old matron not really knowing the answer either. Time would come amongst the islander community to share their true names and greater history. When the time came for their newest ten-ant to take a turn, the fire they sat around exploded in a bright green flare.

Shortly afterward, Tang, Mann and Agwé come for Arthur and plunge him into the sea surrounding Un-spoken Water. As he washed back up on the shore, Caille would approach Arthur with the intent of visiting her mother. Against better judgement of course.

Arthur would head out to the private Isle of the Goddess Namma for the sake of appeasing Callie's mother. Having survived their boat capsizing while making it to the island they'd been looking for, Arusio's companion began to undergo a transformation into the final remnant of it's matriarch's form. A battle would commence as Andy attempted to try and reason with the human heart buried within the monster. When Namma appeared, Arusio curtsied to the goddess in his midst. Answering her questions as best he could while presenting her daughter to her. But the primordial laughed at such a notion, coldly stating that Caille was no kin of hers, but was little less than a living shell through which the manifest of the Goddess's missing power could grow and mature in.

When it was revealed that Nam-ma's reacquiring of the Callieach's life force would inevitably result in the former hosts demise. Arthur struck the irate divinity to prevent Callie's secession of existence. Namma would retaliate, admonishing Arthur for daring to defy her, but the amnesiac adventurer reject her claims to divinity & entitlement.

With coaxing from Arusio while holding off her malevolent sire, Caille would instead assume control of the beast within. Becoming a hybrid divine monster in and of herself, stemming the control over which Namma possessed for a while longer. Deciding to change tactics Namma reduced herself to salt particles at the exact moment Andy struck her and fled to the oceans embrace. Sensing that things were far from over, Arthur implored Caille to remain vigilant as he knew their adversary would return. Sure enough, the tyrannical supremacy would rise from the sea as a draconian monster whom would assail the duo while poisoning the worlds waters with a lethal influx of brine. The two would battle the monstrous Namma as she tried to coerce her beastly offspring to return to her embrace; instead Caille, now fused to the Callieach, wounded her dracolitch sire. Distracting her mother goddess long enough for Andy to hop a ride on the beastly serpentine entity.

This plan would backfire however, as Namma would drag her would-be pursuer into the salted oceans causing him endless discomfort due to it's tainted hydration. In a desperate plea for help Arusio projected a telepathic call to all denizens of the deep. One so powerful that it even reached all the way to Prime Earth from the Sphere of Gods and back. It wasn't long after sending out the call did Arthur get the most unexpected of responses, the denizens of Unspoken Water had come to aid Arthur in his time of need. Having reverted to their prior godly forms thanks to his unique abilities.

After the Sea Gods of the World make their presence known, Namma too reveals her godly identity as Mother Salt. The fear-less marine hero would do what he could to preempt the genocidal ancient divinity from carrying out her plans with help from his divine allies.

But he quickly finds himself to be out of his depth while learning from her progeny that their ancestors, her children, murdered Salt's husband after she'd told them of his infanticidal plans. Now she has returned with intent of murdering the world and everything living on it that spawned them as retribution for the loss of her beloved. Andy is dismayed to find the sea gods opting to surrender themselves willingly to the the venomous adept after stating doing so would bring about the end of all life on Earth as they know it. Arthur watches helplessly as Wee gives herself to the leviathan that has become of their matriarch, and tries fruitlessly to dissuade the others from doing the same to no avail. Realizing their sacrifice did nothing to assuage their murderous kin's entropic goals, Arthur moves to confront the complete Mother Salt in a final stand. Until the now deified Caille suggests he use his connection to the sea for contacting those whom are lost to Namma. Reasoning that it was his power that enabled them to resume their divine forms once before and perhaps it can do so again, but only if he concentrates on a singular focus while they are apart of their grand sire's being.

Taking her advice to heart, the champion of the deep uses his connection to the Life Force to reach out for his lost brother Tang. An extraneous process that yields results, as the vast resurgence within the mother goddesses being causes a massive explosive re-lease of power. Dispersing Mother Salt/Namma's form back into it's composite sodium particles and restoring the Sea Gods back to their original selves again.

But Arthur was far from finished as he remembers how easily their adversary reformed herself from such a state the last time. To make sure her plans for omnicide were stalled, if only for a short while longer, he continued to compel local depth dwellers to heed his command and scatter her sifting being throughout the ocean floor. The stress of all such monumental tasking however, left Arusio drained to the point of conscious-ness deficiency. As he began sinking into the ocean depths, Caille moved to drag him back to the sur-face. But she was soon waylaid in the task by the most unexpected of individuals to show up; Father Sea. Back in the open air, Andy would regain his senses and walk upright towards the land with all the gods and his good friend Caille beside him and the ancient ocean embodiment.

While the lost deities bow in reverence to their grandfather, Arthur and Sea meet each other eye to eye for a second before the latter heads back into the ocean.

In thanks to the oceans chosen savior with helping them stem the tide Tang the Vast would gift their nameless savior with body art to commemorate his commitment in defending the oceans majesty. They would also gift the wayward traveler knowledge of whom he really was as agreed upon after completing such a monumental achievement. Wee would secretly tell him however that what he was, is, and always will be was a hero and a friend; both to the hallowed forgotten and the sea.

Repun soon redirects their attentions back to the oceans, as Father Sea returns with Arusio's lost Trident.

When Mother Shark restores Arthur Curry's memories, it is revealed that Arthur actually survived the alien invasion and returned to Mera. However, they kept it a secret from the rest of Atlantis. Mera stops them from being romantic to talk about the politics of Atlantis and how the Widowhood wants her to marry. Arthur confesses his love for Mera once again, again proposing they get married, but Mera is hesitant with all the drama they've endured. However, she then reveals she's pregnant.

Arthur affirms that he loves both Mera and their unborn child but, afraid that he won't be able to give his child the life it deserves, asks to go home and think. Mera, unhappy that she and her love don't seem to be on the same page, loses control, "kills" Arthur, and is later found by the Widowhood and Atlantean guards.

As Mera's pregnancy progressed, Arthur returned to life and Amnesty Bay, however, he did not go to Mera nor she to him. Arthur's nemesis Black Manta destroyed an ancient Atlantean historical site to draw Mera to the surface, where she and Aquaman met and wordlessly reconciled. Manta attacked the pair with Mecha Manta, provided by Lex Luthor. Mera destroyed Mecha Manta but the huge amounts of hydrokinetic power she was forced to use put her in a coma, she was rushed to an Atlantean hospital and gave birth shortly afterwards to a baby girl, who was named Andy. Arthur was present for his daughter's birth, and fell in love with her instantly, losing all of his trepidation about becoming a father or the kind of life they could have together. Andy spent the first ten months of her life being raised in Amnesty Bay by her father and his extended group of friends and allies. She and Arthur would regularly sneak into Atlantis to visit the still-comatose Mera in secret.

Mera reawakens after 10 months in a coma. With the ruse of a fake wedding to Vulko she calls to Atlantis the leaders of the 7 underwater kingdoms. Prior to the wedding, she has the entire widowhood arrested. Once all 7 kingdoms are assembled, to their surprise, Mera announces that she was dissolving the Atlantean monarchy and that she intended to hand power to the people. Orm attempts to take power for himself, however, Orm and his forces are stopped by Aquaman, assisted by the Justice league and the Sea gods.

Following this Arthur and Mera settle down in Amnesty Bay with their daughter Andy. Soon after-wards Mera and Arthur marry in the presence of their family and friends, in what was originally planned as a surprise welcome back party for her by Arthur.

Following the abolition of the monarchy, Arthur and Mera intended to hold themselves apart from Atlantis to allow the city to govern itself, but they were forced to intervene when the Frost King's forces at-tacked the city during what was intended to be their honeymoon. The pair with Andy in tow, go to Atlantis and discuss with the Atlantean ruling council with is to be done to save the city. Arthur journeyed into the city's heating vents to meet with the Fire Tolls who lived in the tunnels below Atlantis, hoping they could be an ally against the Frost King. Originally Mera agreed to stay behind to guard Andy but quickly followed him, arriving in time to save Arthur from a Fire Troll with a hydrokinetic attack. The Trolls were in awe of this and swore loyalty to her. With her army of Fire Trolls, Mera and Arthur defeated the ice creatures attacking Atlantis.

A ramshackle ship of refugees from Warworld fled to Earth, pursued by alien fighter craft called Warzoons. Superman and Superboy rescued the refugees and destroyed some of the Warzoons, while the others fled. The Atlantean army captured and imprisoned the crews of the Warzoons and took custody of the refugee ship, which was powered by a mysterious piece of rock, known as the Gene-sis Fragment. Although Arthur was no longer king he was able to convince the Atlantean authorities to allow Superman to inspect the wreckage and try to interrogate the prisoners, although they did so only out of respect to Arthur and refused to let Superman take the power source or inform the surface governments that they had it.

Maric, the Atlantean scientist as-signed to study the power source, mutated into a gigantic monster and attacked the Florida coastline alongside strange sea creatures which were immune to Arthur’s telepathy. Arthur and some Atlantean soldiers tried to fight off the monsters but were overwhelmed, so he called the Justice League for help. Superman was able to freeze the giant from inside and the Atlanteans drove the other creatures back.

However, victory was short lived as Steve Trevor arrived and demand-ed that Atlantis hand the fragment over the the US Government. Arthur refused, telling Trevor that any attempt to take the fragment would be viewed as an act of war. A pair of Task Force X agents working for Amanda Waller snuck into the crashed ship and attempted to steal the Genesis Fragment, but were caught by the Atlantean army. In response, the Atlanteans blockaded all shipping lanes across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Justice League met to try to find a solution, but were unable to come to an agreement. Both Arthur and Batman were uncharacteristically belligerent and began arguing almost immediately, each taking the sides of their respective countries. Batman demanded that Arthur convince the Atlanteans to give up the Fragment, and Arthur replied that he could and would not do so. Arthur almost stormed out of the meeting when Batman accused Atlantis of starting an arms race, but Superman shut their fight down, saying he would not allow a war between Atlantis and the surface.

Arthur believed that Batman may attempt to take the Fragment and stood guard over the crashed Warzoon. Meanwhile the United States Navy sent a battleship to break the Atlantean blockade and despite Superman’s attempts to negotiate a peaceful solution the two sides fired on each other. Superman decided that the only way to prevent them going to war over the Fragment would be to take it beyond both their reach and dove down to the Warzoon where Arthur confronted him. He admitted that he could not stop Superman but warned him that it would change things between them. Despite this, Superman took the Fragment.

HISTORY:
Ray Palmer is the Atom, the Mighty Mite, a superhero with the ability to shrink to incredible sizes while retaining his full mass, making him a formidable combatant. He was a member of the original Justice League of America, where he gained a great deal of respect from his peers. Aside from his crime-fighting career, he is also one of the world's top scientific minds, given his background as a brilliant physicist. He is capable of shrinking to subatomic sizes, and explores the universe on a frontier unknown to any other man.

Ray Palmer grew up in Ivy Town, Connecticut where he studied physics at Ivy University, under renowned scientists such as Alpheus P. Hyatt. He began dating law student Jean Loring, eventually becoming exclusive. Both graduating and working in their professions, Ray would frequently ask Jean to marry him, but she would always decline, wanting to establish herself as a lawyer before get-ting married and settling down.

While a physics graduate student, Ray Palmer discovered a tiny fragment of white dwarf star material that had fallen to Earth. Investigating matter compression, Ray theorized that if he were to grind a lens from this fragment and focus ultraviolet light through it, he could shrink anything struck by the light down to a fraction of its original size. Ray rushed off to his laboratory, tried the experiment, and found that it worked exactly as he had imagined but the objects he shrunk became unstable and exploded moments later.

A couple of days later, a disillusioned Ray and some friends became trapped in a cave-in while out spelunking. Ray was forced to risk instability and use the shrinking lens on himself in order to escape the cave and save the lives of his friends. For some reason, however, Ray didn't explode and returned to his normal height. In fact, the shrinking lens worked on his body much better than he had expected, and he developed a set of control devices that gave him limited control over his weight as well as his size. Ray later hypothesized that some unknown "x-factor" in his genetic makeup prevented his atoms from becoming unstable, though many scientists now believe that Ray's ability to shrink was actually made possible by the "Metagene", which is the source of many superhumans' powers.

Keeping his discoveries a secret, even from his Jean, Ray created the identity of the Atom and began a career of crime fighting in Ivy Town. In his first recorded adventure, the Atom stopped the crook Carl Ballard from exploiting the tiny alien Kulan Dar, to commit his crimes. Foiling this plot, the Atom became a trusted hero in Ivy Town, and established a great working relationship with the local police. Next, the Atom defended the wealthy Doctor Gordon Heath from a plot against him orchestrated by his caretaker Bates.

The Atom's heroics made him an ally of the CIA, who sent him overseas to rescue Professor Anton Kraft from foreign spies. Returning home, he stopped crooked newspaper reporter Greg Phillips from stealing valuable chess pieces. The Atom met his first supervillain when battling Jason Woodrue, an exile from the Floral Dimension, who attempted to take over the Earth with specially bred plants. The Atom defeated Woodrue with the help of Maya Queen of the Dryads that live in the Floral Dimension. Atom next stopped jewel thief Bart Tranter with the help of the self-proclaimed Mr. Odd and recaptures Carl Ballard when he masters Kulan Dar's teleportation abilities.

The Atom would next be used in a bizarre plot by Amos Fortune and other villains to destroy the Justice League of America, using a dememorizor ray to pit the Atom against the League. With the aid of the Atom, the team of heroes would defeat Fortune and his minions and elect the Atom as a member of their group. Next, the Atom would have his first clash with Chronos, a criminal obsessed with time.

Reconnecting with Professor Hyatt, Ray would learn of Hyatt's experiments with the Time Pool, a device of Hyatt's creation allowing him to "fish" for items out of a tiny portal that can bring items through time. As the Atom, Ray would travel back time to ancient Middle East where he would help a young boy named Hassan best a group of thieves and bring back a golden Dinar for Hyatt's study. When simultaneous nuclear explosions on Earth-One and a parallel world causes the two to merge, the Atom helps the JLA prevent the inhabitants of that world from destroying three major cities on Earth to prevent the cataclysm and work together to resolve the problem.

When visiting Happy Harbor, Rhode Island to give a lecture as Ray Palmer, the Atom comes to the rescue of Entron Kol a visitor from a sub-atomic world who is trapped on Earth and uses a wish fulfillment device to try to draw help to his plight. Returning to Ivy Town, the Atom foils an attempt by a crooked photographer named Elkins from framing Tom Parks for crimes he did not commit. Ray would next attend a JLA meeting were the team would ponder how to get out of a dangerous scenario posed by one of their fans.

When Ray's colleague, the world-traveling Ted Ralston is turned into diamond by a strange stone he brought back from one of his expeditions, Ray would travel into the microscopic world inside the gem where he would clash with the Atlantean tyrant Karl Jat. Next he would foil jewel thief Fred Harris' plot to rob a lake side community using local folklore to hoax the people into thinking the thefts were perpetuated by a ghost. The Atom would next be targeted with the rest of the JLA by the Tornado Tyrant. In another adventure with the Justice League, Ray would aid the League in liberating the people of the microworld of Starzl, whose three android defenders had turned evil.

Back in Ivy Town, Atom would foil a plot by stage manager Howard Crane from framing former astronaut Peter Venner for crimes he did not commit and in a Time Pool adventure travels back to 18th cen-tury London to foil Dick Turpin from stealing the king's gold. The Atom and the rest of the JLA would next be forced into exile from the planet Earth due to the manipulations of Dr. Density, however the JLA would foil this plot, ending their exile. When preventing an invasion of Earth from the Thalens, the Atom would team up with extraterrestrial lawman Hawkman and his partner Hawkgirl, forming a long lasting partnership between the trio.

On another Justice League case, the Atom and his fellow JLA members would clash with Spaceman X. Later the Atom would be present with the JLA in their first team up with the Justice Society of America, their counterparts from Earth-Two, against the Crime Champions, a group of villains from both universes. While on the home front, Ray would battle an escaped Dr. Light, stop Alfred Trask an art gallery employee working the master-pieces his employer has on display, would battle an evil doppelganger created of himself created out of a lab experiment gone awry and thwart an attempted kidnapping of the king of France during a Time Pool adventure to the year 1609. His next meeting with the JLA would be less eventful with the group relating their battle against Queen Bee while Ray would tell them of his encounter against Dr. Light.

Working with the CIA once again, the Atom would go to Vienna to collect the plans for a new anti-gravity metal, however exposes it as a communist plot to destroy America, and back home foils Doro Briggs' theft scheme involving hoaxing people into believing that she can transform into a swan. The Atom aids his fellow Justice League colleagues in once more defeating and capturing their old foe Kanjar Ro and Kraad the Conqueror, tyrant ruler of a sidereal dimension.

Back home, Ray would attend a Ivy University ten-year reunion, where he would foil Jack Archer's attempt to use hypnosis to steal a priceless Buddha statue, followed by a cruise with Jean Loring where he would stymie invaders from Randath. Next Atom and a number of his fellow JLA members would be rapidly aged by Despero, but later restored to normal following Despero's defeat at the hands of his fellow JLA members who were unaffected.

On the home front, Ray would find his powers being used for crime when he is temporarily the prisoner of a crook who uses his body as a power source for a ray gun and later uses the Time Pool to travel to Baltimore circa 1849 where he helps Edgar Alan Poe solve a mys-tery involving stolen gold coins. Atom would next aid the Flash in stopping an invasion of Earth by Attila-5. Later the Atom and his friends in the Justice League would be manipulated by the ultra-galactic "I", an evil being whose very existence was threatened by the JLA's continued success.

In Ivy Town, Ray would clash once more with Chronos and clear the good name of his civilian identity when he is accused of a crime he did not commit. Back with the Justice League, the Atom is present when Green Lantern relates a solo adventure to the group and would be among the super-powered members of the League to go on "strike" following a UN sanction preventing them from using their powers, all a plot orchestrated by the evil Headmaster Mind. Still with the League, he would be present when a video created by Superman's father Jor-El, regarding the other planets he considered sending his son prior to Krypton's destruction.

Resuming his activities in Ivy Town, Ray would battle his own costume when it briefly gained sentience and aid Doc Magnus in rebuilding the Metal Men and stop the evil Uranium. When visiting his old classmate Ed Thayer, Atom would get caught up in an attempt by foreign spies trying to steal Thayer's Illusion-Maker device and foil the teleporting Hyper-Thief's robberies. Atom is also present when the Justice League invites his ally Hawkman into the group and in attendance of Aquaman's marriage to Mera.

Next, while on vacation the Ray becomes the temporary pawn of criminal inventor Andrew Frost, battles Brain Storm with the JLA, crushes the Hooded Hijackers, and uses the Time Pool to travel to the 19th Century, where he comes to the rescue of writer Jules Verne. Atom would become an unwilling pawn of the Endless One, and is forced to fight some of his fellow JLA members and when restored to normal becomes a victim in one of Dr. Destiny's plots to get revenge against the JLA.

The Atom would have to combat side-effects of his Time Pool adventures when battling the evil Phantom Mask, and spend a brief time thinking he was a flea in a flea circus when spies attempt to replace Ray Palmer with one of their own agents. He would next aid Zatanna search for her missing father on a micro-world ruled by the Druid. Later, joins with the Justice League in once more battling Brain Storm. Going solo, Atom prevents crooks from benefiting from his "stool-pigeon" computer and with the aid of Maya and the Dryads posing as Leprechauns, convince Arthur Ennis to fill a witness report with the police following a robbery. During his next team up with Hawkman, and Hawkgirl against Matter Master, the trio of heroes would trust their secret identities to each other. Atom and his fellow JLA members would team up with the JSA against the evil Johnny Thunder of Earth-One who has manipulated the Thunderbolt into creating Earth-A and the Lawless League, criminal versions of the Justice League.

The CIA once more hires the Atom to stop a group of Russian spies who are attempting to manipulate Jean Loring's father in an attempt to get at the Atom, and on another Time Pool to 18th century London where the Atom prevents one of Professor Hyatt's ancestors from being thrown in debtors' prison. Atom would also aid his fellow JLA members in preventing global disaster and conflict inadvertently created by Andrew Helm's Corti-Conscience machine. Acting solo, he stops a common thug named Eddie Gordon from enslaving the Bat-Knights of the Elvaran people. Atom next helps Batman, Robin, and Elongated Man capture "Numbers" Garvey and his gang.

The Atom also aids the Justice League in defeating the Key during his attack. Returning to Ivy Town, the Atom makes up a story about alien invaders to make the return of a radionball sound like a more exciting adventure and foils a rob-bery plot orchestrated by groundskeeper Billy Knowels. Atom's powers are briefly pilfered by Professor Ivo in a plot against the Flash, when the Flash relates the story to his fellow JLA members including the Atom, they are unaware as they are not using their powers at the time. Next Atom would join the Justice League and Metamorpho in battling the Unimaginable.

After liberating the Floral Dimension and Earth from destruction at the hands of Jason Woodrue, the Atom would join the JLA in curing Batman, Green Lantern, and Flash from a plague infected upon them by the Unimaginable. Atom would return to Ivy Town, to foil a series of robberies orchistrated by Bill Jameson, the so-called "Man in the Ion-Mask". Working with the CIA once more, the Atom would travel to Russia to foil Boris Kalumchuk's plot to poison America with irradiated gold. Ray would next join the Justice League of America in their battle against the Shaggy Man.

Back in Ivy Town, the Atom would earn a new villain in the Bug-Eyed Bandit. During this adventure Jean accepts proposal for marriage for fear that Ray would eventually be-come too absorbed in his work to ask her anymore. When both Earth-One and Earth-Two are threatened by the Anti-Matter Man, the Atom would be one of the Justice League and Justice Society members gathered to combat the threat.

Going solo in Ivy Town once more, the Atom would crush the Panther Gang and going on another Time Pool journey to 18th century France where he foils an assassi-nation attempt against Benjamin Franklin. Returning to the JLA, the Atom would aid them in stopping the Lord of Time from manipulating Vietnam War hero Sgt. Eddie Brent. Returning home, Atom would clash with once more against his old foe Chronos. Later, when the entire population of Ivy Town suddenly shrinks, Ray learns that a chunk of white dwarf star landing in the city water supply is the cause, and cures the people with no ill side effects. Ray would next work together with his Earth-Two counterpart in foiling a plot by the Thinker to rob Earth-One and escape to Earth-Two. At a JLA meeting, Atom, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Batman and Elongated Man would all learn that of Zatanna's success in freeing her father with the help of magical proxies that she created of the heroes following her respective en-counters with each of them.

Ray would return to Ivy Town where he would stumble upon and foil another plot by Eddie Gordon to manipulate the Elvarian Bat-Kights. He is also present when the JLA must face the evil Mastermind, who has turned many of the League member’s weapons against them. Atom would team-up with Hawkman once more to search for the missing Johnny Burns, a reformed crook, to reunite him with his sick mother. During the encounter, they battle Toyboy, Johnny's evil half brought to life when Mrs. Burns is briefly endowed with mental powers follow-ing a scientific accident. Rejoining the JLA, Atom would foil the Royal Flush Gang's attempt to destroy the League.

When paralyzed in a lab accident, Ray manages to get Jean to activate his size-control devices causing him to shrink to microscopic size, freeing him of the paralysis. Before returning to Earth, he would save the sub-atomic people of Palonds from the evil Honds. The Atom would also be present to cheer on a UN-sponsored charity race between Superman and the Flash. He would later team-up with Aquaman against the plankton creature called Galg the Destroyer. After a rematch against the Bug-Eyed Bandit, the Atom would team-up with the Elongated Man against Chronos. After battling the Big Gang, witnessing another race between Superman and the Flash, foiling "Smarts" and his gang, Atom has another Time Pool adven-ture to London to prevent Colonel Tom Blood from stealing the crown jewels from the Tower of London.

The Atom is one of the members of the Justice League enslaved by Queen Bee, until they are saved by Batgirl. In another revenge plot against the Justice League, Dr. Destiny briefly switches the League's bodies with some of their greatest foes. For a time, Atom would be forced to trade bodies with Jason Woodrue, until Dr. Destiny's ultimate defeat. When twin transmitter towers on Earth-One and Earth-Two cause people to rapidly age either forward or back-ward, Earth-Two's Atom would have to briefly battle a young and hot-headed Ray Palmer before destroying the towers and returning everyone back to normal. Atom would next work with Batman in foiling the Cannoneer from robbing the Brotherhood Express. The Atom would also be involved in a Justice League case where the group would get embroiled in a gang war between the Pyrotekniks and the Bulleteers in a complex scheme hatched by mobster Leo Locke.

The Atom would soon gain an un-usual ally in his next adventure, Major Mynah, a mynah bird that he meets foiling a group of Viet Cong soldiers from raiding a Cambodian temple while on an archeological dig in the region. With the bird in-jured in the battle, Atom takes the helpful creature to Hawkman who replaces the bird's broken wings with mechanical ones. Major Mynah becomes Ray's pet, following him in both his civilian and costumed identities. After helping the Atom capture crooks, Major Mynah's involvement almost tips Jean off to Ray's secret identity and so he comes up with a method of dis-guising Mynah for future adven-tures. The Atom would return to the Justice League and foil the Key's plot of using Superman to destroy the JLA and later battle Dr. Anomaly. Ray and Major Mynah would next go into action to stop an invasion from the alien Physalians from feeding on the humans they have captured. The Atom is one of the JLA members seemingly killed by T.O. Morrow, he is restored to life following Morrow's defeat at the hands of the JSA, their new ally Red Tornado and surviving mem-bers of the JLA.

As time would go on, Ray would eventually get involved in less frequent solo adventures, often teaming up with either Hawkman or getting involved in many of the Justice League's cases.

Ray joins Carter and Sheira Hall on vacation in Mexico City and battles Telka and his followers. With the Justice League, the Atom battles the laughable Generalissimo Demmy Gog of Offalia, in a pathetic attempt to conquer the world. The Atom next is hired by the FBI to break up a spy ring. He succeeds thanks to the intervention of Major Mynah. This would mark the Atom's last use of Major Mynah. The bird's ultimate fate is unknown. Atom also finds himself involved in a revenge plot enacted by criminal Jason Madden, who attempts to kill his former accomplice Chuck Wheeler. Atom aids the Justice League in clearing Green Arrow's name in a murder frame-up plotted by Headmaster Mind and the Tattooed Man. Ray is involved in a Justice League investigation of the new costumed vigilante known as the Creeper.

While attending a science convention with Carter Hall, Ray and Carter are attacked by a man re-sembling Carter. This gets them embroiled in a battle against the Shiva, Hindu goddess of destruc-tion, who with her army of Nether-Men is attempting to win back wor-ship of humanity. Through the ef-forts of the Atom, Hawkman and Hawkgirl the plot is thwarted. The Atom would join his fellow Justice League colleagues in traveling to Mars and aiding their comrade Martian Manhunter against the evil Commander Blanx, a battle ends in J'onn J'onzz's resignation from the team. Ray next goes into action as the Atom to foil a plot by rival university professor Horace McByrd to discredit Ray among his peers. Ray next joins the JLA and Hawkgirl in saving Hawkman who has been turned into salt by a group of demons, fighting off their minions a biker gang known as the Gruesome Ghouls in the process. When Professor Heinrich von Rilk is almost assaulted by Ivy Universi-ty students for destroying an electron-microscope, Ray learns that Von Rilk did it to prevent an inva-sion from a microscopic world. Investigating the claims as the At-om, Ray confirms Heinrich's story, and stops the invasion by defeating its vanguard, a creature known as Ag. Atom would be among the members of the Justice League and Justice Society who would ban together to save both universes from the threat of Aquarius, a living star creature bent on revenge for being exiled by his superiors.

When Jean Loring is kidnapped by the people of Jimberen, a microscopic world who believe that she is the descendant of their ruler, Atom and Hawkman team-up to rescue her. However, due to the radiation the people of Jimberen expose Jean to, she is driven insane from the ordeal. With technology on Hawkman and Hawkgirl's homeworld of Thanagar making it possible to cure Jean, Atom would entrust her to the care of Hawkgirl.

Focusing on Justice League business, Atom would be one of the members who would accidentally have an evil duplicate of himself created out of his ego, which would battle new Justice League member Black Canary. When an influential man named John Dough would attempt to turn the United States government against the JLA, manipulating Snapper Carr into betraying the group, the Atom would be involved in the conflict, which would reveal Dough to be none other than the Joker. Atom and the Justice League would soon setup shop in a new base, an orbital sat-ellite above the Earth.

During this time, Atom and the other members of the JLA would team up with the Vigilante against the Doomsters, aliens who threatened to pollute the Earth.

Ray would ultimately learn that Hawkgirl's quest to restore Jean's sanity on Thanagar was met with trouble when both women's souls were stolen by Norch Lor, a scientist from Thanagar who's misguided intention to save the universe from the coming "end of all things" was attempting to collect the souls of all living beings in a Ghenna Box. With the help of Tomar-Re of the Green Lantern Corps, Ray and the Justice League would restore Hawkgirl and Jean's souls to their bodies, Jean however would still remain insane. Atom and Hawkman would travel together enroute to Thanagar to try and get Jean the help she needs, and along the way run into the threat that Norch Lor was attempting to protect them from: The insane Jest-Master, who leaves all those in his path completely mad. With the help of the Justice League, Atom and Hawkman would defeat the Jest-Master. In the aftermath of the battle, Jean's constant exposure to Jest-Master's insanity rays would restore her sanity to normal. Returning to Earth, the Atom would once more join the Justice League and the Justice Society in preventing another threat to both Earth-One and Earth-Two. This time coming from a being called Creator2, whom by utilizing Red Tornado's connection to both realities, would attempt to merge the two universes together, threatening to destroy both. Atom and his colleagues would foil this plot, however the Spectre would seemingly perish in the process.

Ray and Jean's marriage would become strained over time as Jean's law practice and Ray's devotion to both science and super-heroics would take time over their romance.

Soon, Jean would begin an affair with her fellow lawyer Paul Hoben, which Ray would stumble upon one night. Realizing their marriage was on the rocks, Ray would decide to investigate White Dwarf star radiations he detected out of South America and decide to investigate it without Jean. Taking a flight with some drug runners, he would learn too much about an illegal cocaine field and prompting the pilots to attempt to kill Ray. However, the pilot would be shot and Ray would jump ship and shrink down to Atom size. Ray would be struck by lightning trapping him at a height of six inches. The plane would crash, and because one of the men aboard stole one of Ray's rings, the world would presume him dead and Jean would go on with her life and pursue her relationship with Paul. Ray meanwhile would find himself captured by aliens known as the Katarthans—small aliens whose ancestors were left on Earth centuries ago and live in a world of high technology and barbarism. With a revolt immanent, Ray would be captured along with members of a resistance led by Taren.
Forced into gladiator battles, Ray would learn the Katarthans' language and befriend Taren and learn that he hoped to overthrow their leader Caellich and marry princess Laethwen. The two men would become unknowing pawns of Deraegis who would seek to cause the people to revolt against Caellich so that he could rule. To this end, he would blind Taren, causing the people to protest. Taren, Atom, and Laethwen would escape the arena and flee into the jungles where they would reunite with the rebels. Knowing his end is near, Taren would turn over leadership of the rebels to Atom, and perish while the group fled an army of carnivorous ants. Atom and Laethwen would soon fall in love with each other. Atom would lead the warriors on to Moralaidh to launch a revolution. In the final battle, both Caellich and Deraegis would be slain, but not before De-raegis would activate an old star drive powered by a white dwarf star fragment. Attempting to save his newly adopted people, Ray would dive into the plant to try and stop the reactor from exploding. However, the white star radiation would cause him to grow as it irra-diated him and smash his way through. Growing to near human height, Ray would frighten the people away before the reactor exploded. Restored to his normal height and in a delirium caused by radiation exposure, Ray would pass out and be found by rescuers. Waking up in the hospital, Ray would come to realize that he no longer had an interest in returning to his old life and have moved on from Jean. Having learned that Jean had come to South America looking for him he would decide to finalize their divorce and try to find Laethwen again.

Returning to Ivy Town to settle his affairs, Ray would realize that there would be no way to rekindle his romance with Jean. In repairing his size change belt, Ray would find that the process of shrinking would cause him great pain due to his absorption of massive amounts of white dwarf radiation and would fear that constantly changing his size could eventually kill him. Finalizing his divorce from Jean, Ray would put his money on an expedition back into South America, taking along with him writer Norman Brawler to chronicle the experience. The two men would run afoul of drug dealers and Ray would shrink down to Atom, giving up his normal height seemingly for the last time to help destroy the drug operation. Finding the Moralaidh tribe and being reunited with Laethwen, Ray would leave Norman to find his own way back. Norman would publish the tale in a book called Atom's Farewell, which would become a best seller.

Ray would lead Laethwen's people in building a new New Moralaidh and rebuilding the alien societies lost technology, he and Laethwen would become wed as well. However, his past life could not stay away, as when Jean would marry Paul Hoben and when the newlyweds would clear out Ray's lab she would accidentally shrink herself. In order to restore her to her nor-mal height, Paul would have Norman Brawler lead him and Jean to find Ray. However, along the way, Jean would be captured by minions of rebel leader Torgul who had captured many of the Moralaidhian women including Laethwen. Ray would lead a mission to rescue the captured women, which would end in Torgul's death, and the freedom of his people. With Jean restored to her normal height, Ray and Laethwen would wish them farewell, Ray leaving Paul with his old size changing belt.

Ray would remain New Moralaidh's champion but would come at times to aid his old allies in the Justice League of America.

When the evil Anti-Monitor attempted to destroy the entire multiverse, his opposing force the Moni-tor would sacrifice his life to shunt the five surviving realities into limbo, however they were slowly merging together causing chaos on all worlds and threatening their destruction in the process. Alexander Luthor, Jr. of Earth-Three and the Harbinger would gather heroes and villains from all realities in an attempt to rally their support in saving what was left of the multiverse. Atom would be among their numbers and would agree to aid in the effort.

Ray would be called in to examine the Red Tornado, who is recaptured by the heroes following a lengthy captivity under the Anti-Monitor who converted the android into an engine of destruction. However, despite the best efforts of the Atom and T.O. Morrow, the Red Tornado would self-destruct, causing massive damage to the JLA Satellite, and apparently destroying the Red Tornado.

Later on in the Crisis, when a united group of super-villains from each surviving reality would attempt to conquer each earth, Atom would be among a group of super-heroes dispatched to Earth-S to attempt to quell the uprising in that reality. Although the heroes there were made prisoner, the Atom would be part of a counter attack of heroes that were uncaptured, and would succeed in freeing Billy Batson allowing the boy to change into Captain Marvel and turn the tides of battle.

The Katarthans and their village were soon wiped out by a horrible fire and the Atom returned to Ivy Town, only to find that one of his friends had written a book exposing Ray's secret identity in his absence. After battling various foes, such as Strobe, Humbug, and Swarm, Ray learned that a US Government agency had engineered the destruction of the Katar-thans, in order to induce his return to the States. He avenged the Katarthans by permanently reducing the agents responsible for the massacre to six inches in height. Ray returned to Ivy Town just long enough to bid his friends farewell, and then briefly went into hiding.

The shrunken agents, now calling themselves the Micro Squad, vowed revenge on Ray. Ginsburg, one of their number, made an at-tempt on Ray's life, but died in the attempt. Ray approached Amanda Waller, who convinced him to fake his own death and secretly join the espionage unit known as the Suicide Squad. As a part of this mission, Ray went undercover and Adam Cray served in the Suicide Squad as the new Atom. Adam was killed by Blacksnake and Ray resumed the role of the Atom. Later still, he joined the then-current Justice League on a semi-active basis.

Al Pratt, the original Atom, died during a battle against Extant in Zero Hour. During this event, Ray was also hit with a blast of chrono-energy that deaged him into a youth again. He would go on to become a member of the Teen Titans.

In time, Ray and Jean were able to be friends again. In the divorce she had received half of his patents. As a gesture of friendship, Jean decided to sign them back to him. Little did he know that this was but one of many facets to Jean's deadly scheme to win Ray back. Since their divorce, Jean had somehow become seriously deranged and believed that the only way to be reunited with Ray was to force the issue. Incredibly, she devised an elaborate plan to endanger Sue Dibny, wife of Elongated Man Ralph Dibny. Jean was privy to the fact that every year on her birthday, Ralph would be absent solving a custom-tailored mystery devised by Sue. She bypassed the Dibnys' security by shrinking down and traveling via the phone lines into their home. She then entered Sue's body and obstructed the blood flow to her brain. To cover up this evidence, Jean scorched Sue's body.

Jean knew that this event would send all the heroes scrambling to protect their loved ones and—hopefully—drive Ray back into her arms. Jean employed two other schemes to cover her tracks. First, she faked an attempt on her life, then she hired Captain Boomerang to kill Robin's father Jack Drake. She supplied Drake with a gun to defend himself, hoping that Boomerang would be killed and that everyone would believe he was Sue's killer as well. Eventually, Dr. Mid-Nite's autopsy of Sue's body revealed the truth, and the Atom himself elicited a confession from Jean after she inadvertently spilled the beans when asking about a letter sent to Jack along with the gun. Ray managed to put two and two together because Batman had taken the letter away from the crime scene even before the police arrived, so only he and the Leaguers were supposed to know of its existence. She was promptly admitted to Arkham Asylum. With Jean's incarceration, Ray was overwhelmed with despair, and shrank continuously until he vanished completely into a micro-scopic or subatomic world.

Ray's legacy would continue on with Ryan Choi utilizing a version of his costume and shrinking de-vice to become the current Atom for a short time.

During the missing year following the events known as the second Crisis, Palmer's technology is em-ployed by Supernova to shrink and grow in size in order to enter and exit the bottle city of Kandor.

Ray took refuge the Nanoverse, and met a young mystic who told him about the new reformed existence of the Multiverse. He traveled through different realities and ffound himself in Earth-51, where its heroes eradicate supercrime and create a utopian Earth. There he witnesses his Earth-51 counter-part's death and took his role in this reality including marrying this world's Jean Loring.

While there he studies much about his Earth-51 counterpart and dis-cover he never became the Atom and acted as a scientist consultant to the Earth-51 Justice League. Also this Ray gifted with the ability to be immune to all kinds of dis-eases and viruses. Furthermore, the Earth-51 Palmer worked on preventing the deadly Morticoccus Virus, and knowing that in every reality of the Multiverse there is deadly chance that the virus would appear decided to travel the Multiverse and inoculate each inhabitant with his immune system. Realizing the importance of his counterpart's work, Ray carry on Earth-51 Ray's work and travel to differ-ent worlds inoculating each denizen of every Earth with a resistance to the Morticoccus Virus.

Unknowable to Ray the Monitors and the Challengers from Beyond (Kyle Rayner, Donna Troy, Jason Todd and Bob the Monitor) were scouring the reformed Multiverse for him as they believe that he may be the one to prevent a cataclysm known as the Great Disaster. Even-tually the Challengers discover him and learns his history on Earth-51. Shortly afterward Bob reveals his intention in killing Ray. With the Challengers' help, Ray escapes but witness the death of his Earth-51 friends and his alternate wife.

Despite what the Challengers were told by the Monitors, Ray reveals to them that it was the Ray Palmer of Earth-51 who was meant to stop the Great Disaster.

After joining the Challengers, teaming up with Jimmy Olsen, Forager, Harley Quinn, Holly Robinson, Mary Marvel, and Firestorm on Apokolips, Ray discovers that Karate Kid was infected with the Morticoccus Virus. Following the damages to the planet by the Pied Piper and Brother Eye, Ray secretly eavesdropped on Monitor Solomon and Darkseid, learning that Darkseid wanted to remake reality and Solomon wanted the Great Disaster to happen. Alerted by this, Ray returned to the others and was pressured into curing Karate Kid.

Ray and the others were then teleported back to the reconstructed Earth-51 and seek advance medical attention from Project Cadmus; however, once they were at Cadmus Karate Kid was already dead.

Ray helped the scientists at Cadmus in finding a cure to the Morticoccus Virus after the virus was released to the world. Despite everything he has done, the Great Disaster prevailed forcing Ray and his friends to return back to their Earth.

After returning to their world, Jimmy Olsen is kidnapped by Mary Marvel, who has been corrupted by Darkseid. Ray hitches a ride from within Jimmy. When Darkseid takes control of Jimmy's powers, Ray locates and shuts down the control sphere inside Jimmy's brain, but is then swarmed by Apokoliptian antibodies. While es-caping this onslaught, Ray discovers the "battery" containing the New God spirit energies. Ray removes it from Jimmy's head and shatters it, releasing the energies.

Ray later (after much cajoling) joins Donna, Kyle, and Forager in their new mission as border guards to the Multiverse, realizing that there is nothing left for him on New Earth anymore. However, Palmer returns to New Earth one more time, upon realizing that his old nemesis Chronos had taken his identity to mislead a young pretender to his identity, Ryan Choi. After helping his successor to once again save Ivy Town, he returns to the Multiverse with a new sense of fulfillment, leaving his town in the hands of a new, capable hero.

During the Final Crisis, Ray returns to New Earth and works with Choi again to aid in the efforts to evacuate the last free humans.

During the events of the Blackest Night, Ray asks Hawkman to visit his wife Jean Loring's grave to be honored as a fallen member of the community, but Hawkman refuses due to her murdering Sue Dibny. Ray later called Hawkman again, over the phone (unaware that his friend has been killed and resurrected as a Black Lantern). Atom is then invited to visit Carter in order to discuss his heartache over his wife which the deceased Carter planned on killing him.

Arriving at Carter's house, he was attacked by the Black Lantern Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and only escaped by miniaturizing himself and hiding in Carter's Black Lantern Ring. Ray did a thorough exploration of the ring, discovering that it was nothing like Hal Jordan's power ring, instead made of dark matter with micro-wormholes sending energy to an unknown source. Jumping out, he helped Hal and Barry Allen fight off the Black Lantern Justice Leaguers, with his compassion attracting the Black Lantern Dibnys. Ralph mocked Ray for still being love with Jean after she killed Sue, but the two Dibny Lanterns were destroyed by the Indigo Tribe, the wielders of the indigo light of compassion, then teleporting the three living Leaguers to the Hall of Justice, where they met up with Firestorm Jason Rusch and Mera. After Indigo-1, leader of the Indigo Tribe, explained that the Black Lanterns were expressions of darkness which considered the living to be invaders, Barry and Hal pointed out that Ralph and Sue had no reaction to each other’s' attack, leading Ray to conclude that the Black rings were some sort of organic computer that rebooted the body without restoring their essences. Before they could plan a proper counter-attack, the Black Lantern League arrived and attacked, and the Indigo Tribe teleported Hal away, leaving Ray, Barry, and Mera without a means to effectively fight the Black Lanterns. Ray had almost been turned into a Black Lantern by a reanimated Batman but ultimately been protected by an unknown force. Ganthet inducts him into the Indigo Tribe as a deputy for his strong compassion.

Indigo-1 claims that she can teleport the armies of each Lantern Corps onto Earth, if given time to meditate. So, the responsibility falls to Ray to protect her while she does so. Before she enters her trance, she reveals to Ray that the indigo staff and his overwhelming compassion allows him to mimic the other powers of the Lantern Corps; she demonstrates this by temporarily becoming a Red Lantern and vomiting corrosive blood all over an attacking company of Black Lanterns. She then enters her trance, while Ray fights off Black Lanterns Hawkman and Hawkgirl by temporarily becoming an Orange Lantern, loudly proclaiming "I want my friends back!" He then summons two orange energy duplicates of Khufu and Chay-Ara to help him fight off his and Indigo-1's attackers. He is briefly successful. But then Jean shows up to torment him, and she leaps into Indigo-1's ring. Ray follows her. He ends up reliving Sue Dibny's death, and is then attacked by various Black Lantern Morlaidhans, the miniscule race he befriended during his time in the Amazon jungle years before. He fights them off and--summoning the powers of a Green Lantern--destroys Jean. Indigo-1 manages to summon the various armies and thanks Ray for his help. He tells her to keep his involvement in the deployment of the troops a secret, and asks that she help him find a way to legitimately resurrect Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

HISTORY:
Big Barda is a powerful New God from Apokolips who fell in love with Mister Miracle and became a warrior for good. Although she was originally a member of the Female Furies, since leaving her home planet, she has joined the Justice League of America and the Birds of Prey.

Barda was born of the race of New Gods about 250 years ago, on Apokolips. She is a product of Granny Goodness' Home for Orphaned Youth. Granny's motto is "Die for Darkseid" (the planet's evil ruler). Granny grooms Barda to one day lead the Female Fury Battalion, a ferocious pack of women warriors. However, during a raid Barda meets Scott Free, Darkseid's adopted son, and, sensing a peace about him, falls in love.

Barda risks her own safety to help Scott escape from Apokolips. Eventually, Barda turns her back on Granny, and comes to Earth herself. Scott has become an escape artist called Mister Miracle, and is teamed with Oberon, his diminutive manager. Scott and Barda are married by Scott's father, the Highfather of New Genesis.

In a reversal of the stereotype associated with female characters at the time of her creation, Barda is physically more powerful than her husband, is more than willing to use her strength in battle, and is very protective of her husband.

For a number of years, Barda follows Scott and Oberon on tour. Eventually they retire as superhe-roes and move to Bailey, New Hampshire. However, despite their best attempts, a normal life eludes them. Disasters plague them; Barda, Scott, and Oberon leave Bailey and move to a loft in Greenwich Village, New York City. Barda forms a defense-training program for women called the New Female Furies. (During this time, Barda and Superman are captured and mind-controlled by Sleez, who plans to force the two to perform in an adult film. At the last moment they are rescued by Mr. Miracle.)

Though naive regarding Earth customs, Barda relishes her roles of wife and housekeeper. However, when duty calls she never hesitates to assume the posture of a warrior, and when Scott joins the Justice League, Barda participates in several missions. After his time with the JLI, the two leave Earth for New Genesis. However, they soon return to Earth and take up temporary residence aboard the Justice League Refuge. During this period the couple separate briefly due to Scott's lack of consideration for her feelings.

Barda has served as a member of the JLA in her own right: at Takion's order, she and fellow New God Orion are sent as agents of New Genesis to serve on the team. (Takion predicts that the Earth faces a grave threat.) Their mission is to help mobilize Earth's heroes against the omnipotent Mageddon. Once Mageddon is defeated, Barda and Orion resign from the JLA.

Barda and Scott reside in the suburbs of Connecticut and are active adventurers. Barda never hesitates to lend a hand to her friends when her power and expertise are needed.

Barda was in the Suicide Slums in Metropolis when she had her purse snatched. The mugger, who got away, was later killed by an Apokoliptan Ash-Crawler, who brought the purse to the depraved, disgusting, and evil, Sleez. Sleez then found Barda's Mega-Rod in the purse and used it against her when she came for it.

Two days later, he forced Barda to wear a VERY short and skimpy outfit, barefoot and seemingly topless, and dance and perform implied sexual favors for him, while he filmed it all. Just when he was about to rape Barda, Superman arrived and tossed Sleez aside, helping Barda up from the floor, seeing as she had been forced to dance for quite a while. Superman asked who she was, and if she was Wonder Woman under all the make-up. Brad took the distraction to grab the Mega-Rod and blast Superman repeatedly with it. Barda, who thought Superman was just another part in Sleez' scheme, almost killed Superman. But before she could act, Sleez took the Rod from Barda and dropped them both in a pit. Sleez then sold the tape of him and Barda to a store that specializes in 'adult entertainment'. Darkseid's agents somehow got ahold of the tape and Darkseid showed it to Mister Miracle. Mister Miracle then went to find Barda who was, along with Superman, being controlled by Sleez forced to make an 'adult movie' with Superman. Mister Miracle arrived, and Superman went after Sleez, who seemingly perished in an explo-sion.

Barda accompanies Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman to Apokolips to rescue Supergirl from Darkseid's clutches, and accepts an invitation from Oracle to become the heavy-hitter on the Birds of Prey.

In a confrontation with the Secret Six, she engages Knockout, another ex-Fury, in hand-to-hand combat. Although the fight was long and was continued above all other worries, it ended in a draw. Not long after this fight, Barda was killed by Infinity-Man. At the end of Final Crisis, she is seen with a reborn New Genesis, implying that, perhaps, she's not really dead after all.

HISTORY:
Bloodwynd was the descendant of a group of slaves enslaved by a man named Jacob Whitney. These slaves created the magical Blood Gem and used it to kill Whitney. The Blood Gem was passed down among the slaves' descendants and without them knowing it the Blood Gem was a gateway to an-other dimension, and the demon Rott claimed the souls of those who were killed by the Blood Gem.

In recent times, Rott sucked Bloodwynd into the Blood Gem and mind controlled Martian Man-hunter into wearing Bloodwynd's Blood Gem and impersonating him. Using Bloodwynd's identity, the Manhunter joined the Justice League as one of their more mysterious members. When the JLA fought Doomsday, Superman and Blue Beetle realized Bloodwynd's identity when Bloodwynd was sur-rounded by fire. Once the Manhunter was freed of mental control, the Justice League battled Rott and freed Bloodwynd.

Bloodwynd joined the Justice League America after they freed him from Rott's control. Later, he withheld information from the Justice League about an offer of alliance from the mystical villain Dreamslayer. Bloodwynd didn't join Dreamslayer, though sensing a strange kinship with him, Bloodwynd wouldn't oppose Dreamslayer either.

During Overmaster's invasion, Bloodwynd was strangely inactive, refusing to take action against what he said to be a natural course of events. These two incidents caused Bloodwynd to question his membership in the Justice League. He voluntarily put himself on reserve status.

HISTORY:
Growing up, Ted was extraordinarily bright. He was good at science, business, and everything else he tried. In college, he received degrees in Physics, English Lit, and Theoretical Mathematics. He considered joining his father's business, Kord Omniversal Research and Development, Inc in Chicago, but overall, he had no real direction.

When Ted's uncle made an at-tempt to take over the world, Ted set out to stop him, recruiting the help of his archaeology teacher Dan Garrett - the first Blue Beetle, who could call on superhuman powers from an ancient scarab he had found in Bialya. In the course of the adventure, Dan was fatally wounded and asked Ted to carry on the legacy of the Blue Beetle, passing the Scarab onto him. However, Ted couldn't get the scarab to work for him, and eventually set it aside, electing to go ahead without it.

Ted trained himself to his physical peak, constructed an aerial vehicle affectionately nicknamed the "Bug", made himself a Blue Beetle costume, and set out to establish his own identity as a superhero, using his wit, agility, and a large number of gadgets to stop evildoers.

After losing his wife, Ted's father neglected Kord Omniversal, letting it become a shell of its former self. Ted revitalized the company, building it up until it became one of the top R&D companies in the USA, rivaling S.T.A.R. Labs.

During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Ted was recruited by the Monitor to help fight the Anti-Monitor's shad-ow-demons. Ted discovered that Dan's scarab was able to utterly destroy the shadow-demons, but was sent back when the Monitor found the scarab couldn't be used as he wished. Ted kept fighting in the Crisis, but lost hold of the scarab in the turmoil, and couldn't find it in the aftermath.

The scarab resurfaced some time after the Crisis, apparently having resurrected Dan Garrett and sent him on a crazed rampage. When Ted confronted Dan and the scar-ab, the scarab spoke to him, telling Ted it wanted him as its new host, and offering him the use of its powers. Ted refused and helped Dan break the Scarab's control over him, shattering the Scarab's physical form and letting Dan die a final death, leaving Ted to grieve for his mentor one final time.

Ted's father eventually recovered enough to take back Kord Omniversal, but the company was devastated by Carapax, one of Ted's villains. Ted left to make his name in the superhero business.

Ted joined the Justice League as it was being reformed in the wake of Operation Humiliation, and often served as the pilot for the League's many vehicles. As part of the JLI, Ted met and befriended Booster Gold. The two had their differences, but served together for many years and had a bond that went beyond their wisecracks and buffoonery.

Ted's mouth and sense of humor often got him into trouble with other members of the League, especially the women. However, behind his jokes was a sincerity of heart, the knowledge of his responsibility as the Blue Beetle, and a desire to make the world safer for all.

Following his time in the League, Ted reasserted control of his business from his father, eventually making Kord Omniversal a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises. He re-tired from super-heroics for a short time but occasionally helped the Birds of Prey with funding and technology, becoming friends with members of the team. While working with the Birds, Ted discovered that he had a heart condition, limiting the amount of exertion he could manage without endangering his health.

During Identity Crisis, Ted led a team in search of Heatwave, one of the initial suspects in the murder of Sue Dibny. Soon afterward, he came into possession of Dan Garrett's scarab, which Hawkman had rediscovered in a Middle Eastern pyramid, untouched. However, the scarab was inert, as it had been when Ted had first received it from Dan and did not respond to him.

A little while later, a shipment of Kryptonite was stolen from one of Kord Omniversal's warehouses. Ted's various friends and allies looked into it for a while but soon returned to their own lives. If that hadn't been enough, Ted was then set upon by a gang of the Madmen.

With Booster's help, Ted set out to investigate the Kryptonite theft. In so doing, he unwittingly ran up against the shadows of the impending Infinite Crisis. During the course of his investigations, he lost the scarab to the wizard Shazam, saw Booster blasted by a bolt of energy from Brother Eye, which landed Booster in the hospital and witnessed the beginning of the Rann-Thanagar War. However, Ted found that no-one else, apart from Wonder Woman, seemed willing or able to hear what he'd discovered about the theft, leaving him to go it alone.

On the trail of his last remaining lead - a bug placed on him by the Madmen - Ted tracked the signal from the bug to Checkmate head-quarters in Switzerland, where he discovered a series of files that held the identities, strengths and weakness' of all of Earth's heroes. There, he confronted the master-mind behind Checkmate - its Black King, and Ted's one-time friend, Maxwell Lord, who planned to kill Earth's metahumans using Brother Eye and the O.M.A.C.s, making the planet safe for humanity. Seizing his opportunity when Checkmate's files were unexpectedly deleted, Ted made a break for it - but was brutally beaten by an OMAC and locked up. After being offered a chance to change sides by Max, he told Max to "rot in hell" and was shot and killed by his former ally.

Barbara Gordon, who had been a close friend of Ted's, established a memorial in his name, with further plans on the way. The Blue Beetle name survived, too; Hispanic teen-ager Jaime Reyes became the new guardian of the Blue Beetle scarab, following in Dan and Ted's footsteps as the third Blue Beetle.

The Blue Beetle of the 27th century, sensing a massive temporal disruption caused by Ted's death, traveled back in time to save Ted, recruiting Dan, Jaime, and Booster to assist him. Together, they succeeded, managing to rescue Ted from Checkmate before Max could kill him. To preserve the timeline, however, no-one in the present could know Ted was alive. However, this led to the creation of a time-line where Ted's death had not alerted any of his former allies, and instead Maxwell Lord had managed to activate the O.M.A.C. Project in its entirety, effortlessly subjugating the populace of New Earth. To erase the altered time-line, Kord fought his way back to the Time Sphere, which he programmed to send him to his death with Lord. However, a figure has since then reappeared, holding several pieces of Blue Beetle paraphernalia, prowling around a K.O.R.D. Industries warehouse. The figure then laughs in Kord's distinct "BWA-HA-HA-HA!".

When a Black Power Ring takes possession of his corpse, Ted Kord, unable to locate Booster Gold due to his new time-travelling duties, lures him in the open by targeting Daniel Carter and Rose Levin, his 21st century ancestry. He is able to successfully pierce the Supernova costume shields with a Black Lantern BB Gun and holds Supernova in place while beating Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) and staving off Skeets' attack until Booster arrives. He then moves in for the kill, hoping to rip out Booster's heart.

He battles all of them but is unsuccessful in killing anyone except a neighbor who complained about the noise from the fight. Jaime and Booster remove Rose and Daniel from the scene, and head to a KORD Industries warehouse where one of Ted Kord's hidden bases is located, to collect special equipment to fight the Black Lantern. Booster discovers that someone had accessed Ted Kord's hidden base a few months before his remains were reanimated. However, the only people, to Booster's knowledge, who have the authorization to access it are Booster Gold and Kord himself. They then head back, where Ted's corpse battles Booster until he is attacked by a light blast from a gun designed by Ted Kord himself, tuned to simulate the emotional spectrum. Separated from the ring, Booster seizes his remains before the ring can reanimate them, takes them into the Time Sphere, and deposits them in a small grave at Vanishing Point Fortress

Maxwell Lord, the former head of Justice League International and the murderer of Ted Kord, is restored to life and uses a device to amplify his mind control powers to erase his existence from the minds of almost everyone on the planet. He also influences the superhero community into believing Ted committed suicide, which enrages Booster Gold, one of the few who could remember of Max existence and also the best friend of Ted.

Later, Power Girl after regaining her memories about Max exhumes the corpse of Ted Kord so Dick Grayson can examine it. Dick refuses, still unconvinced about the existence of Maxwell Lord, but Batman arrives to reveal he remembers Lord as well. He and Dick examine the body with Batman making Dick realized Ted was actually murdered. Thus, putting the fiasco and Ted's memory at ease.

After becoming the Blue Beetle, Jaime reached out to Ted for help with the mysterious blue Scarab he was bound to. Ted quickly become his benefactor, creating a mobile command center and becoming his partner – much to Jaime's reluctance, as he did not intend to use the Scarab to become a superhero. After showing the Bug command ship to Jaime, a mysterious Doctor Fate appeared, declaring that Jaime's Scarab technology, created by the Reach, was really Magic, intriguing Ted.

After Superman is framed and rendered comatose, Ted Kord joined the group of heroes heading towards Mars to confront their mysterious enemy. The heroes meet and engage Doctor Manhattan, but they are easily defeated.

Ted was imprisoned on New Apokolips along with other heroes after the Dark Multiverse's Dark Knights, led by the Batman Who Laughs, conquered Earth 0. They were however freed when Batman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn freed Superman from Darkfather's control.

He along with Red Tornado and Animal Man later assaulted the Robin King, who had beaten up the other heroes. The Robin King would however unleash a giant blue beetle upon Ted, resulting in his death. He was later revived by Batman using a Black Lantern Ring.

Sonic Beam: Incredible (40), Dinah possesses a metagene that gives her a potent sonic attack, able to damage and stun foes or objects, to the point of shattering metal.

Talents: Acrobatics, Detective/Espionage, Martial Arts A, B, D and E, Melee Weapons, Pilot

Contacts: Green Arrow, Justice League of America, Justice League International, JSA

HISTORY:
Dinah Laurel Lance was born into a family of crime fighters. Her father Larry Lance, was a police officer, while her mother (also named Dinah) was the original Black Canary.

The younger Dinah chose to be-come a crime-fighter at the age of nineteen, despite her mother's wishes to the contrary. Following a rigorous training program under the watchful eye of a former col-league and life-long friend of the original Black Canary, Ted Grant, also known as Wildcat, Dinah took up her mother's identity and adopted her costume as her own.

According to her origins during the Silver Age, Dinah's ‘Canary Cry' was the result of her being cursed by the Wizard during her childhood. This explanation has been retconned for the current continuity, however. These sonic powers are now the byproduct of her possession of the metagene, making her a metahuman since birth. Dinah's metahumanity distinguishes her from her predecessor; in fact, no other member of her family is known to have possessed the metagene at all.

Not long after her debut as Black Canary, Dinah Lance became a founding member of the Justice League of America. It was Dinah who suggested the newly-formed name of the League, in deference to her mother's having been a member of the Justice Society of America. It was through her new association with the Justice League that she first met the love of her life—Oliver "Ollie" Queen, also known as the Green Arrow. Black Canary's membership in the JLA lasted for many years. Her friendship with Oliver Queen developed during this time as their feelings for one another became romantic. When Oliver chose to quit the League in order to continue his efforts in Star City on his own, Dinah decided to join him there soon after.

Whilst Green Arrow and Green Lantern went on a road trip to re-discover America, Dinah too was motorcycling near Mount Rainier, Washington when she was attacked and run down by a motorcycle gang. Left unconscious in the road, she was rescued by a man named Joshua. The stranger was really a white supremacist cult leader who hypnotized her to his cause. Only when put in the position of executing her lover Ollie, was the hypnotic hold broken. Ashamed of being involved in such a despicable group—albeit against her will—Dinah worked with the Native Americans on the reservation that Joshua had intended to murder.

Dinah rekindled her romance with Ollie and joined the two on other exploits, including attending the trial and sentence of their Guardian companion, thwarting Sinestro and his sister, stopping an evil man exploiting a metahuman child, and helping Speedy through his withdrawal from drug addiction.

After Green Arrow accidentally killed a man, he abandoned his heroic persona, along with his civilian life in Star City. Hal sought Dinah's help to locate their missing friend. Her investigation inadvertently led her to a secret hate gathering, organized by none other than Joshua's sister. She was dis-covered and outnumbered by the angry mob who threw her off the roof of the building, but was fortunately saved by Green Lantern. Continuing Black Canary's spate of bad luck, a drugged driver crashed into a phone booth when she was making a call. Badly injured and losing a lot of blood, Hal knew Ollie was one of the few people with her rare blood type that could save her. Hal had heard of the discovery of the Arrowplane wreckage, and from there, soon tracked him down in an isolated monastery. Despite his own shame and his contempt for society, it only took the mention Dinah's predicament to get Ollie to return home, where the transfusion was successful.

Following the events of Legends, she becomes a founding member of the new Justice League International established by Maxwell Lord. Under Batman's leadership, they gained approval from the United Nations.

Oliver and Dinah set up a flower shop in Seattle—"Sherwood Florist"—as well as continuing to fight crime. Oliver was having some-thing of a midlife crisis, however, just as he was about to turn 43. He wanted to marry Dinah and have a real family with real children of his own—he loved Roy, his ward, and Roy's daughter Lian, but wanted his own biological children. Dinah turned down the idea, citing that their lives were too dangerous. During this time, Dinah was kid-napped by a drug dealer she was investigating. She was brutally tortured, causing her to lose her 'Ca-nary Cry' and rendering her incapable of having a child. Ollie killed the man who tortured her, and that act lead to a turning point in the life of the Emerald Archer.

When Dinah came out of the hospital, she was still emotionally traumatized by the incident. Oliver was with her as she entered counseling. She was initially hesitant to fight crime during the first few weeks after leaving the hospital but it was when she stepped up to stop some muggers on a bus (taking a few hits in the process) she felt back to her old self, knowing that her biggest fear was that she would not be able to fight back anymore, and that fear was gone. She and Ollie were closer than ever.

She continued to fight crime off and on, eventually breaking up with Oliver, feeling he would never commit to her completely after catching him kissing their young assistant Marianne.

Dinah was shocked when Connor Hawke, Oliver's son and the new Green Arrow, told her Oliver had died over Metropolis while fighting some ecoterrorists.

Dinah was contacted by Oracle (Barbara Gordon) to work in Gotham City, which she accepted, and the pair formed a partnership as the Birds of Prey. Dinah took this role with great satisfaction. And with that came the feeling that she needed a few changes required in this fresh new chapter of her life, deciding to abandon her traditional blond wig and bleach her hair blond whilst growing it longer instead. During her time operating with Oracle, Dinah operated using an electronic form of her Canary Cry: a weapon that would do the 'crying' on Canary's behalf, called Canary Cry Bombs. After a battle with Ra's al Ghul, she took a dip in the Lazarus Pit at Oracle's urging. Doing so healed her injuries and restored her Canary Cry as well as her ability to have a child. As time went on, the Birds expanded their number with Dinah as the back-bone of the team, operating along-side notable female agents such as the Huntress, Gypsy, and Lady Blackhawk. Following that, Oracle shows Canary the retail space that later houses a reopened Sherwood Florist.

Dinah helps found a new incarnation of her mother's old team, the Justice Society of America, following the death of JSA founding member Wesley Dodds. She serves as a member of both the JSA and the Birds of Prey for a time.

A short time later, Dinah resigns from the JSA when she discovers that Oliver Queen has been resurrected. She travels to Star City, where the two former lovers are happily reunited. Their renewed relationship is short-lived however, as Dinah feared that Oliver might try to take advantage of his young female ward, Mia Dearden. Dinah leaves Star City and returns to Gotham City where she continues to function with the Birds of Prey.

Following the "One Year Later" jump, Dinah trades life experiences with Lady Shiva in hopes of softening the warrior, undertaking a harsh training regimen in an unidentified Vietnamese bidonville, or shantytown. The regimen replicates Shiva's early life and training; Shiva, meanwhile, assumes Dinah's role in Oracle's group and demands that her associates call her the "Jade Canary".

When Dinah realizes following Lady Shiva's path will require her to fundamentally change who she is as a person, she ends the training and returns to the United States. She brings with her a little girl, Sin, who also had begun the harsh grooming process to be Lady Shiva's successor and Oliver Queen uses his connections to allow Sin to immigrate into the country. Dinah hopes to balance her duties as a superhero with the responsibilities of being a surrogate mother/sister to the child.

Dinah informs Oracle that she is quitting the team, having decided to devote herself to raising Sin. And the two leave Metropolis for Star City; Dinah jokingly tells Sin that she can rip out Ollie's beard if he isn't nice to her.

After leaving the Birds of Prey, Black Canary joins with Green Lan-tern (Hal Jordan) and Red Arrow (Roy Harper) on a mission to locate the Red Tornado's body (stolen by T.O. Morrow and Solomon Grundy). The three heroes join forces with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Black Lightning, and Vixen to defeat Amazo.

The assembled heroes re-form the Justice League of America; Dinah is made the Chairwoman, due to her strong abilities and strategic mind. The team's first mission with Dinah as leader sees the JLA and JSA discover that members of the Legion of Super-Heroes (a team that lives in the 31st Century) have been located in the 21st Century.

Dinah eventually returned to Star City to aid Oliver, Connor and Mia against Roadblock and Merlyn. During the course of their mission, Dinah rekindled her relationship with Oliver yet again, feeling that he had truly changed and that all the parts of him that she hated seemed to be gone. Oliver admitted to Dinah that many of the changes he made over the last year were due in most part for her, because he wanted to be a better man. As the battle concluded, Oliver at last proposed to Dinah. Dinah however, did not give him an answer right away.

Shortly thereafter, Ollie and Speedy helped Black Canary when Merlyn abducted Sin. To save her life, Ollie was forced to fake the young girl's death, keeping the knowledge of the plan between himself and Mia, even at the risk of losing Dinah forever. After Sin was placed into safekeeping, Ollie told Dinah what he had done. Recognizing that he was willing to sacrifice his own happiness to save a life, Dinah finally agreed to marry him.

After a great deal of compromise and strife, Dinah and Ollie agreed to get married inside the Secret Sanctuary, the original cave headquarters of the Justice League of America. Wedding guests included nearly everyone within the superhero community who were asked to attend the ceremony in-costume.

The wedding was interrupted by a phalanx of supervillains, who at-tempted to take out as many he-roes as possible in one fell swoop. Nearly all of the villains were apprehended except for Deathstroke, who managed to escape. Despite the interruption, the ceremony concluded and Dinah Lance and Oliver Queen were married.

Now as a married couple, the duo continued to fight crime alongside one another, facing new challenges. They fought off Cupid, a vigilante with an obsessive crush on the Green Arrow, and Discord, a man with a grudge against the Ca-nary for deafening him with her scream.

Shortly after, Darkseid attacked Earth and took control of it with the Anti-Life Equation. Dinah planned an attack on Darkseid from the Justice League Watchtower, but her plan was thwarted by a mind-controlled Green Arrow. She was forced to fight her husband and successfully freed him from the equation's control.

In the aftermath of Darkseid's defeat, Gotham City had to cope with the apparent death of Batman. Dinah was summoned to Gotham along with other heroes to join the Network as a way to maintain order without him.

Canary had eventually resigned from her position as chairwoman of the Justice League but remained an active member. How-ever, Hal Jordan and Ollie had felt the team had lost its direction and left to start their own rival Justice League.

Feeling betrayed by her husband, Dinah confronted him on the Jus-tice League Watchtower, but their fight was cut short because Green Arrow had to warn his former teammates of a threat his team had discovered. The villain Prometheus was planning a coordinated attack against all of the world's heroes.

Before he could successfully warn the original League, Prometheus broke into the Watchtower and at-tacked the heroes, severing Red Arrow's arm and incapacitating Black Canary. The League was able to capture Prometheus before he could do any more damage but, in his interrogation, he admitted that his plan was to destroy every major city protected by a superhero, starting with Star City.

On cue, Prometheus' trigger man Electrocutioner activated an explosion that wiped out a massive portion of Star City. Green Arrow and Black Canary panicked and used the League's teleporters to provide assistance and look for survivors in the wreckage. In the destruction, Ollie and Dinah found the corpse of Roy Harper's young daughter Lian.

Dinah and Donna Troy delivered the news to Roy in the hospital as he recovered from his losing his arm. Oliver, meanwhile, took revenge on Prometheus by executing him with an arrow to the head.

Oliver's murder of Prometheus was condemned by his friends in the superhero community, including Flash and Hal Jordan. Unrepentant, Oliver went on the run to avoid punishment. Dinah, wanting what she thought was best for her husband, joined Hal and Barry in searching the ruins of Star City for him. When they found him, he at-tacked them all, subduing them long enough to escape. He was searching for the man who pulled the trigger to destroy Star City, the Electrocutioner.

Oliver eventually calmed down, realizing the damage he was doing in his quest for revenge. He turned himself into the authorities for punishment.

Dinah visited Oliver in jailed and told him she understood that he needed time to be alone. However, still incredibly hurt by his actions, she gave him her ring back and told him their marriage was over.

The Earth was subject to another crisis when Nekron attempted to take over the universe with his ar-my of undead Black Lanterns. Nekron was able to resurrect the dead as mind-controlled zombies, including people who were previously dead, like Green Arrow.

With the aid of Mia Dearden and Connor Hawke, Dinah fought her zombified Black Lantern ex-husband. The living corpse fed off of misery and exploited Black Canary's emotions to grow stronger, while Oliver watched powerless inside his own body. To emotionally hurt her, the Black Lantern claimed he had secretly been in love with the assassin Shado, who had raped him and sired him a son around the time Dinah was tortured by a drug dealer. He also called her a fool for believing he had ever changed.

Though the Black Lantern had the opportunity to execute Black Canary, Oliver regained control of his body for long enough to miss the shot and hit a liquid nitrogen container. Connor, under Dinah's instructions, then used the liquid nitrogen to freeze him until the Blackest Night was over.

Like her last major breakup with Oliver, Dinah left Star City to start a new life in Gotham City, reforming the Birds of Prey with Oracle. This time, they expanded their membership immediately to include Dove, Hawk, Huntress, and Lady Blackhawk

HISTORY
Credited as being the world's first official android, Amazo was created by the immortal, evil master-mind Professor Ivo. Utilizing superior "absorption cell" technology, Amazo can replicate the super powers of any metahuman he encounters. And so, Amazo became one of the most dangerous men-aces to originally oppose the Jus-tice League of America. While initially programmed to serve the agenda of his creator: to find any means to prolong Ivo's immortality, Amazo had outgrown his original agenda.

Taking on the Justice League of America, Amazo has several heroic enemies. For a time, he was imprisoned in an airtight chamber within The Fortress of Solitude, after challenging Superman. How-ever, he eventually escaped that prison, and resumed his rivalry with the JLA, as well as the Justice Legion A's Hourman. A cybernetic hero from the 853rd century, Hourman's presence made Amazo resentful and bitter. But while Hourman - who later joined the new Justice Society of America, then departed to his original time period, is no longer Amazo's primary foe, Superman and the rest of the Justice League were still present to pose a continual problem for Amazo. While his programming and own sentience have displayed no intent on world conquest, Amazo exists as a monster of sorts, who’s very being is a hazard to all of humanity.

Amazo was taken to Gotham City in a shipment for Black Mask. However, it was stolen and activated by Red Hood in order to fight Batman and Nightwing. This version of Amazo was easily defeated as it did not possess the abilities or equipment of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern or Plastic Man and was destroyed by Batman.

Being housed in the Red Room, the Amazo robot lay in shambles, its synthetic skin not even applied correctly.

Seeing this monster's power, Lex Luthor had LexCorp begin work on what he would call an Amazo Virus, a disease that would give normal humans super powers like Ivo's android.

At one point, Amazo was sent to infiltrate the Justice League Watchtower while only Batman was on duty, leading to a fight between the android with the powers of the League and the hero with no powers at all. Despite the odds, Batman repelled Amazo and teleported all of his pieces around the world.

When the Crime Syndicate invaded Earth and seemingly killed the Justice League, Doctor Ivo and his reassembled Amazo android joined the Secret Society of Super-Villains and wreaked havoc around the world with no heroes to stop them.

In a matter of days, the Justice League defeated the Crime Syndicate and returned to power, and Amazo's whereabouts have been left a mystery ever since.

Despite this, Amazo's name remained in the news when the Amazo Virus that Lex Luthor had been working on was accidentally released on Metropolis, causing a widespread quarantine on the city. The first patient, Armen Ikarus eventually lost his mind to the virus and declared himself the new Amazo.

Re: Sidious' FASERIP Builds: Bloodwynd, Blue Beetle, Black Canary Updated

Post by Sidious »

so looking back at my builds, I'm noting I have a lot of them without my current formatting. So rather than spam out the first 50 pages of builds and all, I'm just going to go through and silently update them to my current standards.

this may take some time and I may change some pics in the process. Anything that has significant change (Picture, history update, etc) I'll quote post as well.

This should take a while. :)
