HISTORY
The longest-term member of the original Freedom League other than the Centurion was the Scarab, mysterious master of mental pow-ers. Scarab was actually wealthy philanthropist Alexander Rhodes, who established the Rhodes Foundation. Scarab's mental powers and his diplomatic nature made him the peacemaker of the original League, helping settle disputes between its members and encouraging teamwork. He served as deputy-leader on occasion, and used his telepathic abilities to keep his teammates in contact.

Scarab's mental powers protected him from being possessed by the Scions of Sobek, agents of an ancient Egyptian god. The other members of the Freedom League were not so fortunate. Scarab sacrificed himself, exceeding the limits of his powers to free his team-mates. He is honored with a memorial statue on Heroes' Knoll.

TALENTS: Acrobatics; Detective; Martial Arts A, B, D, E; Pilot

CONTACTS: Freedom League

HISTORY
Singer Mary Vaughn was a local Freedom City celebrity looking to make the break into super-stardom, but never quite able to get beyond the nightclub scene. Late one night after a gig, she talked with a mysterious stranger about her dreams, and he offered her the opportunity to “sing like she never had before.” Mary jokingly accept-ed and the man disappeared. She wrote the whole thing off until suddenly she drew the attention of record producers and big labels.

Just as she was cutting her first album, it happened. Mary’s singing took on a whole new quality; her voice could shatter steel or create a compelling hypnotic trance. She nearly destroyed the studio, and realized she could no longer sing normally. Indeed she could now “sing like she never had before.” Her career in ruins, Mary began to sink into a deep depression, until the liquor store she was in was robbed. She used her new sonic abilities to catch the criminals and realized she could turn her curse into something good for others. Taking the name “Mary Minstrel” she began operating as a crime-fighter in the city and eventually accepted an offer to join the Freedom League.

For much of her career, Mary looked for a way to rid herself of her unwanted powers. Her team-mate Daedalus tried to help her, but all of his tests and experiments were unsuccessful, leading him to believe Mary’s abilities were the work of magic, although not even Master
Mage Eldrich was able to learn their true origins or remove them.

HISTORY
When his uncle Set the Destroyer possessed a hapless mortal conjurer and threatened to spread darkness across the human world, Horus, the Avenger of His Father, petitioned great Ra to go to the mortal realm and do battle with Set. In accordance with the Pact, Ra would only grant his permission if Horus found a mortal willing to host his divine essence. Otherwise, the gods of Heliopolis would not interfere.

So it was that archaeologist Henry Farrow discovered a hidden chamber in the Valley of Kings, untouched by human hands for millennia. Within, he found the mighty Ankh of the Avenger and the incantation: “Horus, Avenger, Lord of Light / Grant me now your godly might / Let we two do what is right / Banish evil into the night!” With those words, meek Henry Farrow was transformed ... into the avatar of the Avenger! The newly reborn Horus initially suffered some memory loss due to a curse laid by Set as a trap for any of his fellow gods who might try and stop him. In spite of this handicap, Ho-rus overcame various foes, re-gained his true identity, and stopped Set from plunging the world into eternal darkness.

When Henry Farrow returned to Freedom City, Horus went with him, and the immortal Avenger remained an active hero in the city for some years. Although he worked with the Freedom League on occasion, Horus preferred to operate alone, and turned down offers of League membership.

Maggie was transformed into a being of pure plasma energy. Eventually, she mastered the ability to return to her human form at will. She discovered a plot by the Foundry to sabotage ASTRO Labs and acquire supposedly "flawed" technology after it was abandoned. During the investigation she met Daedelus, who introduced her to the Freedom League and later recommended her to take his place in the active roster. Halogen served as a member of the Freedom League for several years before she died along with Tectonic while fighting the Katanarchists . A memorial statue of her stands on Heroes' Knoll in Liberty Park.

Halogen was a slight, attractive African-American woman dressed in a close-fitting silvery costume with shoulder-length metallic blue gloves and thigh-high metallic blue boots. In plasma form, she appeared to be made up of glowing golden energy.

TALENTS: Occult Lore

CONTACTS: Dr Druid

HISTORY
Woods's father abandoned his family. As soon as she could, Woods left home and became a student at the University of San Francisco. Her interest in the occult drew her to a lecture by Doctor Druid, after which she felt compelled to approach him. Druid soon learned that her attraction held over from a past life in King Arthur's time, when Druid was a princess and Woods an alchemist. The two soon became lovers, as well as mentor and student. During an assay of mystic items, Woods accidentally released a demon, which slew her. Druid used a statue called the "Bride of Slorioth" to resurrect her, but the process left her linked to the Darkforce. To avoid causing anxiety (and possibly to assuage his own guilt), Druid told her that the demon had caused her new powers and not that she had died.

When Druid formed the Shock Troop, Woods joined the team as Shadowoman, along with the Living Mummy and Skull the Slayer. On their first mission, they and Quasar encountered an Anti-Body from the New Universe (Earth-148611). It split into several small-er Anti-Bodies. Woods drew them into her shadow self and forced them to recombine so that Glom of the Imperial Guard could dispose of them. On their second and final mission, they went to the Nexus of All Realities at the behest of Doctor Strange, but they found that Quasar had already dealt with the problem.

Druid put together another team, the Secret Defenders, and Woods joined this one as well. Druid picked Luke Cage and Deadpool to round out the team, and they went after Malachi, who was trying to gather the scattered parts of the Moebius Stone. At the Chicago Museum of Art, Malachi diverted the team by apparently bringing paintings to life; because these apparitions depended on light, Woods easily destroyed them. Malachi found the next, and final, part of the Moebius Stone and used its power to snare Druid and Woods. By turning to shadow, Woods escaped. Malachi inflicted what should have been a killing stroke, but when Woods survived, she began to wonder about her powers.

Woods's shadow ability again came in handy when the team faced Swarm, since he could not affect her. She bought the team enough time to negotiate with Swarm and defuse his threat.

Woods confronted Druid with her questions about her powers. For answer, Druid sent her into the "Bride of Slorioth," where she met Druid's dark side and finally learned (most of) the truth. Back outside the statue, she confronted Druid again, only to realize that he had had no choice but to do what he did. To mollify her, however, he promised to help her free herself from the Darkforce. Still hurt, but aware of her true nature, she changed her code name from Shadowoman to Sepulchre.

Woods, Druid, and the other team members went to the Gates of Perdition to find Slorioth, a demon. When the first Defenders appeared, Woods actually held her own against the Silver Surfer. She then learned Druid's final secret: out of love and desperation, he had sold his soul to Slorioth to save her life. The demon took control of Druid to try to return himself to Earth. Another mage, Joshua Pryce, joined the battle and saved Woods from final dissolution.

Lindsay McCabe asked Woods for help when her detective partner, Jessica Drew, disappeared. The second Spider-Woman also joined the investigation. Woods took them all to another dimension, where a creature called the Void-Eater had taken Drew. Woods helped rescue Drew, and she sealed the portal to that dimension.

Woods took no direct part in the Civil War, although her name appeared on a list of suspected anti-Registration super-powered beings.

Woods, as Sepulchre, recently had an encounter with the Thunderbolts.

Serpent Crown

Image

Background:
The ancient Serpent Crown was one of the mightiest objects of mystical power in the history of humanity. A helmet made of an unknown material, it was designed to resemble a coiled, seven-headed serpent and drew its power from a mystical link with the prime-val demon Set which granted who-ever wore it tremendous superhuman abilities. However, anyone except those with tremendous will-power who wore it fell under the mental domination of Set. Anyone who didn't immediately remove the the Crown retained a psychic link with it. Counterparts to this Earth's Serpent Crown existed on hundreds of divergent Earths through-out the multiverse, all mystically linked with Set, and would ultimately serve as the means by which Set would return to physical existence on Earth.

The history of the Serpent Crown therefore begins with the origin of Set himself. Prior to humanity's existence and perhaps the existence of any other relatively complex organic life on Earth, beings called the Elder Gods arose on Earth. The Elder Gods degenerated over the passing eons into demons preying upon their own kind. Set, who manifests himself as an enormous serpent, was one of the most powerful of these ancient demon gods, and in turn, he spawned other serpent-like demons. From the dinosaurs that dominated the Earth during the Mesozoic Era, Set spawned a mortal race of humanoid reptiles known as the Serpent-Men.

The only Elder God to escape degeneration into demonic form was the benevolent Gaea, who is said to have mated with a reincarnation of the Demiurge at the peak of the EIder Gods' degeneracy. Their first offspring, Atum, slew most of the Elder Gods, but did not attempt to harm Gaea who remains active on Earth today. To escape being slaughtered by Atum, Set fled Earth's dimensional plane but he continued to watch over and aid the Serpent-Men and his human worshipers on the many Earths that diverged from the one he es-caped. At first the Serpent-Men preyed upon the nascent human race, but humanity eventually be-came strong enough to fight them off. The greatest foe of the Serpent-Men before the sinking of Atlantis was King Kull of Valusia. By Kull's time, the Serpent-Men, greatly outnumbered by the human race, had to use their shape-changing abilities to disguise themselves as human beings and then infiltrate human civilization in the hope of conquering it. Kull caused the deaths of large numbers of Serpent-Men who menaced his kingdom.

The Serpent-Men formed an uneasy alliance with the alchemists of Lemuria. Working together, they created the Serpent Crown, which Set linked to his own consciousness and which became a receptacle for his power. The first person to wear the Serpent Crown and wield its power was Atra, the great-est of the Lemurian Alchemists. However, just as Atra was about to begin his conquest of the known world, the Great Cataclysm occurred, a worldwide catastrophe that sank both Atlantis and Lemuria. Most of the surviving Serpent-Men died in the Cataclysm and the Serpent Crown was lost.

Long after, a tribe of water breathing humanoids belonging to the race Homomermanus migrated to the Pacific Ocean where they settled on the sunken Lemurian continent. These water-breathers and their descendants became known as the Lemurians, while other members of who remained in the Atlantic Ocean were the Atlanteans. Eventually one of the Lemurians discovered the Serpent Crown amid the ruins of the Pre-Cataclysmic civilization and brought it to Naga, the emperor of the Lemurians, who donned and developed a strong link with it. Soon the Crown began to trans-form him physically, making his head resemble that of a serpent and causing his skin to become scale-like. Utilizing the vast power of the Serpent Crown, Naga ruled tyrannically over his subjects for many centuries.

During this time the Crown's power mutagenically altered the water breathing Lemurians, giving all of them scale-like skin. Finally, a rebel named Piscatos stole the Crown and took it to Antarctica. There, the people of this civilization, the Ancients, are said to have developed telepathic powers, which they may have done by studying the Serpent Crown. The Ancients then encased the Crown in an unknown substance to reduce its power. However, their civilization was destroyed when their city was buried beneath an immense landslide.

Antarctic explorer Paul Destine located the disguised Crown, and using its powers became the being known as Destiny. The Serpent Crown was recovered by Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner after Destiny's madness caused his own death. The Serpent Crown was returned to its original form and a Lemurian agent stole the Crown and returned it to the now ancient Naga. After a lengthy battle against the Sub-Mariner, Naga was defeated, and the Serpent Crown was swallowed up by an undersea earthquake.

Later, the Crown fell into the hands of the original Serpent Squad when its influence fell on Hugh Jones, then president of Roxxon Oil. But the Crown was lost again, this time down a sewer during a battle with Captain America. The Avengers encountered it on the alternate Earth of the Squadron Supreme, managed to wrest it away from that world's corrupt rulers, and when they returned to Earth, Vision threw it into the Pacific Ocean. Hugh Jones, still under Set's control, set in motion events that gained him both Serpent Crowns. When the two were mystically merged, the new Crown's power had increased one hundred fold. Wearing this more powerful Crown, Jones took control of the minds of the entire population of Washington, D.C., but the Thing, the Scarlet Witch , and the Stingray managed to steal it away from him. It was then turned over to Project: Pegasus for study. But soon after, Set had control of everyone working at the Project, and using inter-dimensional teleportation equipment, Project personnel transport-ed Serpent Crowns from other dimensions into their own, intending to combine them all and create a nexus whereby Set could return to Earth. It took the combined might of the Thing, the Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, and Dr. Strange to defeat the gigantic Crown. Assisted by his super powered allies and the Cosmic Cube, Dr. Strange banished Set from the Earthly plane forever. This spell was recently broken and Set attempted to come to Earth. His agents Ghaur and Llyra were defeated, the monstrous Crown buried, and Set was again banished from the Earthly plane.

In Mystic Arcana, it was revealed that the Serpent Crown is one of the four cornerstones of creation. Ian McNee located and retrieved (through many trials and difficulties) all of the four artifacts. The Serpent Crown was in the possession of Nagala at the bottom of the ocean. In Secret Avengers, Beast revealed that there are more than one Serpent Crowns. Roxxon tried to transport one, but the Secret Avengers surgically intercepted and recovered the artifact for Beast's analysis. Then Nova dis-covered one in space, and was so enthralled by its power he took off his Worldmind Helmet and began to wear this Serpent Crown.

KNOWN POWERS:
The wearer of the Serpent Crown received the following powers:

Enhanced Strength: Gave a +3CS to the wearer's Strength rank (minimum Strength of Remarkable).

Enhanced Psyche: For the purpose of using any of the Serpent Crown's mental powers, such as to read minds, the wearer's Psyche was considered to be Monstrous (75).

Additional Powers: The other powers listed below did not manifest in every person who wore the Serpent Crown. (Evidently, the number of powers gained varied according to how adept the wearer was at learning the Crown's abilities, the length of time the Crown was worn and Set's own attitude toward the wearer.)
  • Read Minds: Wearer could read the surface thoughts of anyone within a range of 3 Areas. The wearer had to make a FEAT roll to read deeper into a person's thoughts. If the wearer concentrated on a particular person (Yellow FEAT), he could reach their minds no matter what the range.
  • Control Minds: The wearer of the Serpent Crown could command anyone with a Psyche less than Monstrous (75); however, those with an Amazing (50) Psyche need only make a Green FEAT to resist. Likewise, Incredible (40) and Remarkable (30) Psyches can resist with a Yellow FEAT. Anyone else can resist the control but must make a Red FEAT. The duration of effect varies from days for Poor (4) or less Psyches to only a single com-bat round for Incredible (40) or Amazing (50) Psyches.
  • Levitation: The wearer could levitate with Good (10) speed.
  • Illusions: The wearer could create illusions of attacking monsters or whatever image he desired. To see through the illusion would require a Yellow FEAT roll with a -3CS to the affected person's psyche.
  • Bolts of Mystical Energy: The Serpent Crown could project energy bolts that did Unearthly (100) damage to anyone in the same Area as the wearer. This range could be increased 1 Area for every -1CS to damage. Therefore, a Mystical Bolt fired at a range of 3 Areas would do Incredible (40) dam-age.
  • Manipulation of Matter and Energy: The wearer could manipulate matter and energy for a variety of effects with Amazing (50) ability. Two examples of possible effects (Power Stunts) are listed below:
    • Energy Shield: Energy could be manipulated to provide the wearer with Incredible (40) protection from Physical attacks and Unearthly (100) protection from Energy attacks.
    • Matter Transformation: Matter of Monstrous (75) material strength or less could be transformed into another object of Monstrous (75) material strength or less. This ability required that the matter being transformed be touched.

HISTORY
Set was one of the very first living beings to arise on the planet Earth. As such, he is one of the Elder Gods of Earth and one of the most powerful demons known to exist. While on Earth, Set manifests him-self as a huge seven-headed serpent.

Set was created when the very embodiment of all potential lifeforces on Earth, known as the Demiurge, seeded the virgin planet with ethereal energy. A number of ethereal beings were spawned, including Set, Chthon, and Gaea (who was much later known as Mother Nature or Mother Earth). Though originally ethereal, these awesome entities can take on physical form.

Even though Set was already one of the mightiest of the Elder Gods, he desired power over his fellow gods, and thus decided to spawn his own progeny upon the Earth. He fathered such beings as Damballah and Sligguth.

This was not enough, however, so Set decided to slay the Elder Gods in order to consume their mystical energies and add them to his own. When Set devoured the first of his victims, he committed the first murder in the history of the Earth. Consequently, by subsisting off the life energies of fellow sentient beings, Set began his degeneration from a true god into a demon.

Set was not alone in his hunger. Other Elder Gods followed his ex-ample, and it was not long before all of the Elder Gods degenerated into demons except for Gaea.

Gaea feared the war of the demons would destroy all life on Earth. She therefore summoned and mated with the Demiurge, and bore her first child, the sun god named Atum. She sent her son to Earth to save the planet from the demons. Relentlessly, Atum started slaying the demons, absorbing their physical forms and energies in to himself, and thus transforming into his other identity as Demo-gorge the God-Eater.

Eventually, Demogorge succeeded in cleansing the Earthly plane of all demons except Chthon, Set, and a smattering of Set's progeny. Failing to defeat the Demogorge in combat, Set created a pocket dimension and escaped there with some of his offspring (including Damballah and Sligguth). Demogorge reverted to his form as Atum, and chose the heart of Earth's sun as his home.

Many millions of years later, during the Mesozoic period of Earth's history, Set drew psychic energy from the violent passions of the dinosaurs, even though he was still in his pocket dimension. However, Gaea realized that dinosaurs represented a dead end in life's progress, and that mammals were destined to evolve into sentient beings. Therefore, she reluctantly chose to let the dinosaurs die out so that mammals could become the dominant creatures on Earth.

Infuriated at the thought of losing the animals that provided him with vast amounts of power, Set took mental control of all reptiles, and induced in them a burning desire to hunt and kill mammals. Gaea challenged Set to appear before her. He did, appearing on the Earth in the form of a gigantic serpent.

Set attacked Gaea, but she summoned her son, who quickly obliterated Set's head. Absorbing demonic energies from Set, Atum became the Demogorge once again. But Set was not yet defeat-ed, and grew two heads back in place of one. A ferocious battle then ensued, lasting for an undetermined amount of time. In the end, Set retreated to his pocket dimension with seven heads, which he has retained to this day. Having expended or lost most of his energy, Set cannot return to Earth without assistance. Once again victorious, Atum returned to the sun.

Untold millions of years later, Set saw to the rise of the Serpent Men, reptilian beings in semi-humanoid form that can change shape to resemble humans. It still remains unclear whether the Serpent Men are the actual progeny of Set, or whether he created them by affecting the evolution of reptiles on Earth. Under Set's instruction, a group of Serpent Men led by the Lemurian alchemist named Atra created the Serpent Crown, an object of immense mystical might. However, when the continent sank, the Crown was lost beneath the waves.

Later, the sunken continent of Lemuria was repopulated by a waterbreathing, blue-skinned species of humanity called homo-mermanus. The emperor of these people, called Naga, was a devout worshiper of the ancient demon Set, who regarded Naga as a valued servant with the potential to conquer the world in the dark god's name. As a sign of his favor, Set instructed the emperor to take the Serpent Crown for himself.

With the powers of the Serpent Crown, Naga crushed most rebel-lions with ease. Eventually, how-ever, he was killed and his body and the Serpent Crown were swallowed by an underwater earth-quake.

Recently, Set commanded Ghaur, a priest-lord of the Deviants, and Llyra, a Lemurian high priestess of Set, to form an alliance. Together, they constructed the Serpent Crown in a gigantic new form that was supposedly indestructible. They used its awesome power to control the minds of the seven Brides of Set (Andromeda, Dagger, the Invisible Woman, Marvel Girl, the Scarlet Witch, She-Hulk, and Storm.)

At Ghaur's command, Andromeda and She-Hulk swam beneath the sea to the Altar of Neptune's Wrath, where they recovered a fragment of Set's immortal life force. Set's resurrection was interrupted by the Avengers , who erupted upon the scene. Ghaur forced the Scarlet Witch to use her probability power on the fragment of Set, giving it enough power to "hatch." As the Avengers watched in horror, the seven-headed god exploded from his own dimension to tower above them all.

All hope seemed lost. However, Doctor Strange, Quasar, Thor, and the Thing dove into one of Set's mouths and traveled to his pocket dimension, forcing Set to retreat from Earth in order to battle them. Aware that they were hopelessly outmatched, Thor left Set's dimension and went to ask Atum for help, but Atum refused to become the ruthless Demogorge. Thor would not relent, however, and intention-ally angered Atum, provoking his transformation into Demogorge. Thor was then absorbed by Demo-gorge, but he was able to take temporary control over their merged form.

Upon returning to Set's dimension, Thor (in Demogorge's body) tore Set's seven heads off and hurled them to seven different areas of the multiverse. When Demogorge regained control of his body, he was impressed by Thor's bravery, nobility, and selflessness, and freed him. Atu m returned to the sun, while Doctor Strange, Quasar, the Thing, and Thor returned to the Earth. Because Set's consciousness was gone, his pocket dimension imploded, obliterating the rest of Set's body before it could re-generate its heads. It still remains to be seen if one or more of Set's heads will regenerate a new body and return to Earth.

HISTORY
Jennifer Walters was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Sheriff Morris Walters and Elaine Banner-Walters. Growing up she was meek and mousy and had little confidence. Jen later attended UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) where she gained her law degree. She began working as a law-yer in Los Angeles.

Jen was the also the cousin of Bruce Banner, whose house Jen used to visit during the summers of her childhood. To help him escape from his father's abuse, Jennifer and Bruce would spend hours in a public library, reading books to each other, and sometimes hiding at closing time to spend the night.

Agents of Nicholas Trask, a crime boss who had crossed paths with her father, shot and seriously wounded her on a day when her cousin Bruce was in town. She had been defending a gangster who had been double-crossed by Trask and offered to turns state's evidence, which would be sufficient to ruin Trask if the case went to trial. Bruce fended off the attackers and then broke into a doctor's office to treat her. Realizing Jennifer was going to die, Bruce gave her a transfusion of his own blood as there were no other supplies in such an emergency.

After she stabilized, he had her admitted to a local hospital. How-ever, this came to the attention of the police, who considered Bruce a suspect in Jennifer's attack and Bruce changed into the Hulk to flee. Meanwhile, Trask's thugs at-tempted a second hit on Jennifer, causing the danger to activate gamma radiation particles in the transfused blood, turning her skin green and increasing her size to well over six feet. The goons were taken aback at what happened, and commented "it's some kinda she-hulk". Jennifer's voice boomed out "You called me a She-Hulk, so that's what I'll be," and trapped the thugs for the police to find. With the emergency over, she reverted to her normal size and strength.

Although Jennifer was at first savage while in her She-Hulk form, she eventually gained the same intelligence that she had as the normal Jennifer Walters. She quickly came to appreciate the confidence and assertiveness that came with being the She-Hulk. For a long time, she felt more comfort-able in her She-Hulk form than her human one. Trask paid off a local trucker to keep quiet about shipment coming in from Stark Indus-tries containing advanced technology. He had the trucker killed as well as the men turning state's evidence and blamed on the She-Hulk. He tried to kill Jen again but ended killing Jill Ridge. The con-tents of the crates were revealed to be robotic parts to which he built a "She-Hulk Robot". But she was able to destroy it Trask abducted Sheriff Walters, and gave him a price of advanced weaponry from Stark Industries to kill the She-Hulk, who didn't know was his daughter. He rigged it so it would explode killing them both.

She-Hulk spotted the flaw and save herself and her father. He then constructed a massive earth-boring device called the "Silver Serpent" using the Stark tech. He planned to drain Roxxon Oil dry, allowing him to buy out the company. She-Hulk investigated and discovered the machine, but during the fight the drill continued to bore deep and deep in the Earth burying him alive.

After a brief solo career (in which she met Hellcat), she joined the Avengers. This led to her being transported to Battleworld by the Beyonder and her participation in the Secret Wars, most notable for sparking her long-standing rivalry with the newly empowered Titania.

She temporarily replaced the Thing in the Fantastic Four after the war on Battleworld. She-Hulk was granted detached membership status with the Avengers upon joining the FF.

During her tenure with the Fantastic Four, the She-Hulk had to prevent a radiation leak in a downed S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. This radiation exposure apparently mutated Jennifer to the point that she could not transform back into her original form. But this was an agreeable turn of events for her, since she preferred her She-Hulk form any-way.

Shortly after that, she appeared before the Supreme Court, where she battled Titania.

After the Fantastic Four, She-Hulk rejoined the Avengers following the Masters of Evil's attack on the mansion. During this tenure with the team, She-Hulk and the other members were influenced by Doc-tor Druid and his lover, Nebula, to appoint him chairman of the team. After Druid and Nebula were lost in space-time, She-Hulk and the two remaining members disbanded the team for a time. Jen eventually returned to the group after Captain America restarted the Avengers.

She-Hulk joined the staff of District Attorney Blake Tower, where she met Louise "Weezi" Mason, formerly the Golden Age super heroine called the Blonde Phantom; during this period, she discovered that Mason had manipulated Towers into hiring She-Hulk so that Mason could again star in a comic book and thus avoid dying of old age. Mason's husband, also a former comic book character, had passed away three years ago, but other, more popular characters from the era, such as Captain America and Namor the Sub-Mariner, were still around.

She-Hulk was a member of the short lived hero group the Fantastic Force.

Later, while doing some legal work for Heroes for Hire, she also went on a few adventures with them and spent some time dating Luke Cage.

Eventually, Jen returned to the Avengers and remained with the team for some time. On one ad-venture, the She-Hulk was ex-posed to fellow Avenger Jack of Hearts' radiation powers, causing Jen to lose control of the savage side of her personality. She injured several Avengers and went berserk in Bone, Idaho, virtually destroying the whole town. With Jen's fear and rage at an all-time high the assembled Avengers couldn't stop her. Only the Hulk himself was able to slow her down until Jack of Hearts was able to use his powers to balance her Gamma levels and she regained control over her savage side.

Jennifer's Avengers status eventually conflicted with her work at the DA's office, and Tower let her go. She was hired as a lawyer for the Superhuman Law division of the New York firm of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway. While training for a bout against the Elder of the Universe known as the Champion, Jen's strength level increased phenomenally. She took to wearing a modified version of John Jameson's Jupiter suit to keep her strength under control.

Jen thought she developed enough control to operate without the Jupiter suit, but her worst fear came true when Scarlet Witch went temporarily insane and used her magic to cause Jen to lose control again. This time, she nearly killed Captain America and tore the Vision in half with her bare hands.

Although she had been manipulated, She-Hulk was devastated at her part in the Vision's death and the destruction of the town of Bone, Idaho. Ashamed, She-Hulk quit the Avengers to resume her law career and spend more time as plain Jennifer Walters.

During Civil War, she was able to change forms at will again. Jennifer rediscovered she sometimes had wildly different views and opinions in each form, where as the She-Hulk she came out publicly in favor of the Superhuman Registration Act, yet as Jennifer Walters she understood the views of those against the Act.

Before the war really started Jen and John Jameson, who she met when he was the Wolf-Man, precipitously eloped in Las Vegas.

She-Hulk discovered that S.H.I.E.L.D. knew of her cousin's whereabouts after sending him of into space. Anticipating a problem, Tony Stark secretly had her inject-ed with S.P.I.N. Tech that trans-formed her to human form. During World War Hulk, Amadeus Cho temporarily restored her powers and she defeated Doc Samson in battle. Later Tony Stark temporarily restored her powers so she could help evacuate New York City. She tried to convince the Hulk to stop his attack, but she was defeated and held captive with the other heroes at Madison Square Garden, which the Hulk had converted into a gladiatorial arena. Jennifer Walters regained her powers after visiting an alternate universe.

Jennifer tasked Ben Urich to discover the identity of the Red Hulk. While She-Hulk went M.I.A. following a battle between the Hulk and the Red Hulk, a Red She-Hulk appeared claiming Jennifer Walters was dead. It was later shown in a flashback that Red She-Hulk prevented Jennifer Walters from escaping from AIM custody. During this battle, Red She-Hulk brutally beat Jennifer and snapped her neck with a cable. In the last panel Jennifer Walters appeared to be dead with the Red She-Hulk standing over her body. Though the Red She-Hulk claims she didn't know her own strength then questions Doc Samson whether it was the real She-Hulk or a Life-Model Decoy to which Samson answers "You're here to Follow orders, not to ask questions". Lyra later infiltrates the Intelligencia, where she finds Jennifer in stasis.

After the defeat of the Intelligencia, Jennifer took Lyra to live with her in New York. One day, during a charity event, she spotted the newly-rebuilt Vision and promptly sought to make amends with him due to her being driven to her primal Hulk state and tearing him in half when Scarlet Witch lost her grip on her sanity and the control of her powers. They had a brief conversation, where she expressed her regret for what happened, and Vision for-gave her. She then told him not to get mad at Wanda before leaving.

During Fear Itself, Jen formed a team called the Fearsome Four with Howard the Duck, Frankenstein's Monster and Nighthawk to stop the Man-Thing who found himself driven to an uncontrollable rage, caused by the immense levels of fear generated by the Serpent's hammer-wielders across the world. Facing various alternate universe heroes and the Psycho-Man, brought to Earth by the Man-Thing's connection to the Nexus of All Realities, the four were eventually able to confront their own fears and calm the Man-Thing, bringing an end to his rampage and saving the world, before going their separate ways.

Jennifer sided with the Avengers in the conflict against the X-Men and was sent to keep an eye on the Jean Grey School together with Moon Knight and Falcon after some of the schools teachers decided to join Cyclops. A fight soon broke out as Frenzy goaded Moon Knight. Jennifer seriously injured some kids who tried to attacked her which led to the rest of the school's faculty attacking them as well.

When the original Fantastic Four planned a trip through time and space, they decided to call four replacements just in case some-thing would happen. The Thing's replacement was Jen, and the four original members indeed got lost in their adventure.

Shortly after Luke Cage started his Mighty Avengers charity and assistance organization, Walters came on-board as house counsel and an occasional field member.

When Jennifer Walters first met Singularity, the pair were attacked by Antimatter, who had pursued Singularity from orbit, and engaged it in battle, however they were vastly outclassed. Queen Medusa then arrived with a large force of Inhumans and placed handcuffs on Singularity, planning to turn her over to Antimatter.

After Antimatter killed an Inhuman, Medusa was convinced that delivering Singularity to him was not the best approach, and the trio engaged Antimatter in combat, but quickly found themselves still out-matched. Medusa utilized a Inhuman piece of prototype technology to teleport Antimatter near the Moon. The three of them were teleported by Singularity to Japan, accidentally crashing the wedding of Nico Minoru's cousin. They quickly explained the situation to Nico as Antimatter arrived once more, only to be temporarily banished by the magic of the Staff of One.

The rest of the women demanded that Singularity explain herself and her knowledge about Antimatter. As Singularity told them about her time in Battleworld, Captain Marvel called them to discuss a plan devised by Dr. Tempest Bell to use Singularity as bait to lure the entity into being bombarded with light particles in order to find the weakness of Antimatter. The women teleported to Miami to seek the aid of Dazzler. The team explained their situation to Alison and she agreed to help them.

After a particularly bad attack from Antimatter, at which point Nico was wounded and healed herself, Singularity transported all of them to Alpha Flight Low-Orbit Space Station. There was a brief pause in the action before the team changed into space suits and went to fight Antimatter outside the space station. During the fight, Dazzler was hit by an energy blast which injured her and depressurized her space suit. Back on the A.F.S.S., Singularity blamed herself for being talked into staying behind and asked Nico if she could resurrect Dazzler, but was told that was impossible. Saddened by the loss of life, Singularity then teleported to the Blue Area of the Moon alone, in order to con-front Antimatter once and for all.

She-Hulk, Minoru and Captain Marvel went to reinforce Singularity, while Medusa placed the bomb inside Antimatter. When the bomb exploded, a revived Dazzler teleported in and whisked Singularity away just in time.

After engaging with Thanos after his assault on Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S., Jen was suffering critical wounds and was medivaced to the Triskeleon for surgery. She used her last breath to tell Carol "It's our future Carol, not his. Fight for it." before the medical staff ran in to try and save her.

During the conflict, Bruce Banner was killed, and she woke from her comatose state to the news that Clint Barton had killed him and been acquitted on trial.

With her cousin's death and with her body still recovering, Jen dropped out of her superhero life and became a lawyer again. Bradley was appointed as her assistant and, as soon as she got to the office, she was notified she had her first client, Maise Brewn, waiting for her. However, the stress from her fight with Thanos and the loss of her cousin caused Jen to uncontrollably transform into her Grey Hulk persona at different intervals.

Maise was still recovering from a trauma and was being evicted by her landlord, Mr. Tick, so Jennifer agreed to help her. Despite Jennifer's effort, Maise grew impatient and summoned a Fear Golem that killed Mr. Tick, a couple of cops and even tried to kill Jen, but she transformed into her new Grey Hulk persona and defeated the golem, ultimately stopping Maise from committing suicide. In the end, Maise was arrested for reckless endangerment.

Later, Jennifer was watching a live baking video on the internet when a baker named Oliver turned into a Hulk-like creature on camera. Jennifer hulked out to stop said monster, nearly killing him if not for the intervention of her friend Hellcat.

After fighting the new Thor and having to face yet another hulk-level monster (this time, part of the Leader's plan), Jen decided to meet Florida Mayer, a best-selling author of many self-help books, that had been trying to help Jen since her accident. During the session, Flo gave Jen a special pill to help her find herself and, suddenly, Jen began experiencing its effects, appearing to have become a giant floating head. After confronting her Hulk persona and Thanos in her subconscious, she regained a body and encountered Bruce, having to finally confront all her fear, rage and insecurity. When she woke up, after saying goodbye to her cousin, she had torn Flo's room apart and was back to her green She-Hulk persona.

HISTORY
Isaiah Curwen was a Cardinal at the Vatican and a contender for the Papacy. Despite The Pope's endorsement, the College of Cardinals did not elect him due to his youth and fanaticism. Curwen later developed a fascination over the black arts. He came to believe that this was part of a divine plan. His was now to learn the secrets of magic to become God's personal weapon against Satan as The Silver Dagger.

Curwen quit the cardinalate to travel the world and study "the dark religions." He proved to be a student with considerable aptitude. Once a master in magics had taught him everything he could teach, Silver Dagger would execute "The Lord's vengeance."

Finally, the time came for Silver Dagger to seek out the Sorcerer Supreme. Isaiah Curwen proved clever enough to enter the Sanctum Sanctorum despite its many spells of protection. In an altercation with Dr. Strange and Clea, Curwen was drawn into Agamotto's "realm of unreality."

Eventually, Curwen learned to affect events outside of Agamotto's realm and on the corporal plane. This led to Curwen mystically en-slaving Marie Laveau to stage a trap for Doctor Strange and allow him to return to Earth. In the end, Marie Laveau became free of Curwen's spell and stabbed him in the back with his own silver dagger. Doctor Strange, then, returned the mortally wounded Curwen to Agamotto's pocket dimension to recover.

During his second tenure in Agamotto's realm, Isaiah Curwen felt the need for penance. At one point, Curwen surrendered his left eye to Agamotto to replace the eye Dr. Strange lost to Ghaszaszah Nyirh.

Curwen's "holy war" took him west, were he found Jack Russell (aka Werewolf). In zealous fashion, Isaiah Curwen chased Werewolf into a forest, alone, at night, armed only with his silver daggers. The two, quite literally, fought tooth and nail until Werewolf fled the scene. The next night, Curwen lead his Sword of the Lord, a team of like-minded fanatics, armed with ma-chine guns and silver bullets against a gang of werewolf bikers called the BrainEaters. At the end of the conflict, Russell, as Were-wolf, bit deep into Curwen before he left him. Curwen and his followers believed that he had now become "tainted," "unclean." His Sword of the Lord then seemed to turn on their leader, but details are not known. It should be noted that Isaiah Curwen has been known for his personal charisma.

One night Doctor Strange is alerted to a plan to assassinate seven sorcerers using Curwen's trademark silver daggers. Attempts were made on Eric Payne aka "Devil-Slayer," James Mandarin, Jennifer Kale, Rama Kaliph, Arcanna, Michael Twoyoungmen aka "Sham-an," and eventually Doctor Strange himself. In a final confrontation, Curwen used sorcery to animate silver daggers to kill Dr. Strange but accidentally stabbed himself.

CONTACTS: Runaways, She-Hulk, Elsa Bloodstone

HISTORY
Every year, Nico Minoru's parents would join five other couples in a "charity event." One year, Nico and the other kids decided to spy on their parents. Nico was shocked to discover her father speaking a strange enchantment, and after witnessing the murder of an innocent girl by their parents ("The Pride"), Nico joined the others in running away from their parents.

While on the run, Nico reencounters her parents. Her mother, wielding a large staff with a ball at the end ("the Staff of One"), reveals that she and Nico's father were dark wizards. She then attempts to jam the Staff into Nico's chest. Nico's body, curiously, absorbs it. After she is later cut by Dale Yorkes' samurai battleaxe, the Staff re-emerges from her chest, prompting Nico to use the phrase "Freeze", and freeze Stacey Yorkes. Nico was discovered to be a witch, and the Staff would only emerge when she bled. Sometime after running off, Nico took on the name Sister Grimm to escape the name her parents gave her, but dropped it after a while. After team leader Alex outs himself as a mole and was defeated along with the Pride, Nico is accepted as the groups' leader.

Following the team's initial dissolution, Nico was sent to live at Father Flanagan's Home for Unwanted Goth Kids. While there, she was soon talked into going to a night-club with her friends, where she met her parents' old rival Marie Laveau; Laveau sought revenge on Nico's parents for stealing the Black Mirror, one of the four Cornerstones of Creation. After Laveau explained that she needed Nico's blood to activate the Black Mirror, Nico willingly offered it up, knowing that this would bring out the Staff of One. The two fought, and Nico easily prevailed. Having regained the mirror, Nico attempt-ed to bring back Alex Wilder using the Mirror; however, the spell failed, the Mirror shattered and the last page of the Darkhold was revealed behind the glass. Laveau took it and fled, while Nico accept-ed her place as an outcast and with the Runaways.

After being warned of a future threat named Victor Mancha, Nico and the Runaways found and abducted Victor to question him. After Victor's mother was murdered and Ultron, his father, was destroyed, Nico invited Victor to become a part of the team, much to the anger of some members, notably Chase. Nico reassured them that she was willing to "rip Victor's damn heart out" if necessary. Karolina tried to kiss Nico, revealing that she was a lesbian.

After Chase tied Nico up before he attempted to sacrifice himself to the Gibborim, Nico interpreted it as a cry for help and led the Runaways to intervene Chase's self-sacrifice. The Gibborim instead attempted to take Nico, revealing that Nico's soul was innocent, thus suitable for the Gibborim's consumption. Victor rescued Nico and the two formed a relationship. After defeating the Gibborim, Victor asked Nico what she was willing to do if Chase did something like this again; Nico responded by saying she was willing to "rip Chase's damn heart out" if necessary. After returning to their lair beneath the La Brea Tar Pits, Xavin realized she had publicly exposed their location, drawing the attention of Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D.. Nico, stepping into her role as a leader, led the Runaways in a cross-country escape from Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D.

After escaping the authorities, the Runaways headed to New York where Nico anxiously made a deal with the Kingpin. In a twisted turn of events, the Runaways ended up time-displaced in 1907 New York, where Nico was kidnapped and brought to a woman named "the Witchbreaker." The Witchbreaker claimed she was Nico's great-grandmother, and stated she would teach Nico how to withstand more pain and, therefore, wield more magic with better proficiency. She wielded a weapon similar to the Staff of One, with more adornments. When reunited with her comrades, a significant development to Nico's abilities was evident, where she was freely able to float, displayed more proficiency and confidence in casting spells and was able to use a spell with an effect more complicated than most of her others thus far. Somehow Nico had obtained the Witchbreaker's Staff. During this period, Victor fell in love with another girl, corrupting his relationship with Nico.

During the global shape-shifting alien invasion by the Skrulls, Nico and the other Runaways briefly remained in New York after returning from 1907, trusting that "hiding in plain sight" would be sufficient to conceal their own identities and that it would be best if they showed Klara around her city in the future before they returned to Los Angeles. However, to their shock, an armada of Skrull ships attack New York and its civilians. Xavin, trying to fool the invaders into thinking she intended to help them, used a force field to knock out the Runaways; Nico and Victor were still conscious, however, and they at-tacked Xavin, accusing her of being a traitor. Xavin revealed that she was trying to protect them and convinced them that the Skrulls were too dangerous for them to fight and pleaded with them to flee to the Leapfrog. The Runaways eventually united with the Young Avengers to assist against the invading Skrulls. Nico insisted on leading her team to help the Young Avengers continue the fight against the Skrulls, refusing to "run away." However, Wiccan urged her to leave, claiming that if the Young Avengers lost, they would need the Runaways to save them.

Nico used a spell ("scatter") to scatter a group of invading Majesdanians all over the planet. The spell, however, had unwanted side-effects: it emotionally scattered the Runaways. Victor realized this in time, and Nico spearheaded a massive escape from the returning Majesdanians. A short time later, the Runaways realized that having obeyed Nico, breaking the enchantment. Regardless, Xavin shape shifted into Karolina and left Earth, much to the other Runaways' great grief.

Later on, Nico used the spell "Zombie Not" to turn an army of zombies back to humans. The spell backfired, actually turning the zombies into a "zombie knot", thus creating one large zombie. The Runaways deduced that after the Witchbreaker tortured and trained Nico, Nico's magical abilities had been severely augmented. Val Rhymin's magician informed Nico that the Staff of One carried tremendous magical ability and Nico, being young, should not use it. The magician stole the Staff from her, only to be killed after the Staff defended itself. A silent Nico took her Staff back and warned the other Runaways not to touch it.

Nico dedicated her efforts to providing normalcy for her team-mates. She tried to enroll Molly in the Xavier School's San Francisco campus, but this backfired when one of the many victims of Molly's late parents kidnapped her. Later, she tried to stage a prom in an at-tempt to give her older teammates an outlet for their sexual tension, which had been growing worse after Victor lost Lillie and Karolina lost Xavin. This also backfired, as Victor, who'd been given the task of finding music, hacked into what he thought was some shut-in's private radio station. The radio signal was actually coming from a naval air weapons base that was awaiting the arrival of a mysterious plane, and Victor's hacking reproduced the radio signal, causing the craft to hit the Runaways' home by accident. Most of the team was unharmed, but Old Lace was seemingly killed and Klara was buried beneath a pile of rubble and panicked, causing the house to be-come engulfed in a forest of vines. Nico tried various methods to calm Klara down, but Chase kept sabotaging them, as he resented Klara for surviving. His efforts caused Klara to become increasingly worked up, until finally Nico resorted to using magic to force her to calm down. She also sent Old Lace's body into another dimension to to keep it from becoming a source of conflict among the team.

Meanwhile, a military unit had arrived to investigate the crash, but were held at bay by Klara's vines. Fortunately, Chase's long-lost uncle, Hunter Stein arrived, and due to the vines mistaking him for one of the Runaways, was allowed through the vines, whereupon Chase revealed that he believed that he'd killed Hunter years earlier in an accident, and thus refused to deal with him. Undeterred, Hunter led the team to a secret garage within the house, where they found a new Leapfrog. The Runaways escaped while the military opted to burn down the house and call it a night.

While the team hid out, Chase decided that he needed to get away from his teammates for a while and left them on the pretense of going out to buy food. After he failed to return (having been hit by a car while chasing after an apparently-resurrected Gert), the rest of the team were summoned to a meeting with Hunter, who offered to help them find a new place to live. Nico, wary of accepting aid that might alienate Chase, and unaware that Chase himself had been taken to a hospital, turned down the offer.

Sometime later, Chase began to sense Old Lace's presence and became convinced that she was still alive, but trapped in another dimension. The Runaways reluctantly traveled to Avengers Academy to consult with Dr. Hank Pym. After some misunderstandings, Pym agreed to help them, and with the aid of Reptil, opened a portal to the dimension where Old Lace was living. The team's joyful reunion was cut short, however, when Nico discovered that Pym and Tigra believed that the Runaways were unfit to raise Molly and Klara, and were planning to separate the two from the rest of the team. Naturally a battle ensued, but the Academy students refused to fight the Runaways just because they were refusing to disband. Seeking to dispel any further conflict, Nico used a spell that allowed the Runaways and the Academy staff to see each other's memories. The Runaways saw that Pym only sought to help them, while the Pym and Tigra saw that Molly and Klara truly saw the Runaways as their only family. Subsequently, the two parties brokered a compromise where the Academy left the Runaways alone as long as the Runaways reported to the Academy on a regular basis to prove that they were all in good health. The two groups parted on friendly terms.

Nico was one of the 16 super-powered teens captured and brought to Murderworld where Arcade planned on them to kill each other in order to survive. She was transported there alongside with Chase. When Arcade woke them up, Nico was among those who do not attack him.

She stayed with Chase and later tried with her to team-up with the Avengers, but when Chase quickly accused to had attacked and burned Reptil, the Runaways were rejected, and Nico, affected by the destruction of her magical tree by Hazmat, rejected herself Chase. When Arcade informed the participants of the existence of safe zones, the Runaways were seen still together. At this point, they teamed-up with Cammi.

Eventually, their group rejoined the Braddock Academy, and the whole of them were later witness of a vengeance assault from Juston and Death Locket, respectively accompanied by X-23 and Tim Bashir (the merged twin brother of Apex). There, Chase revealed his Darkhawk's powers.

The fight evolved into a Juston/Darkhawk duel and was aborted by Tim's technopathy. Once everybody calmed down, they had to vote on Tim's fate. Nico voted for Tim to stay alive, but Chase wished for his death. Since most of the group wanted him to stay with them, Chase tried to take the kill but was expelled from the group by Nico's Staff. Later that night, Nico agreed to be on watch, allowing Tim and Death Locket to have a romantic moment. She was unaware by leaving, Tim reverted back to Katy, killed Juston and vanished off with the remains of Juston Seyfert's Sentinel and Death Locket.

At morning, she was unable to stop X-23 from pursuing Katy. Explaining the situation to her awakening teammates, she was designated the fighter of the group because of her power set. Katy quickly at-tacked back, manipulating Juston's Sentinel and Death Locket and bringing back the near-lifeless corpse of X-23. Nico battled X-23 and cast a spell to teleport Nara, Aiden, Cammi, and Cullen away, saving their lives. Nico closed the portal before she could teleport herself.

She then confronted Katy and her weapons, and was attacked by Chase, controlled in his Darkhawk form by Apex, who ripped off her left arm and pushed her from a cliff. Wounded to death, she was able to formulate a last spell (Help) before dying, afraid of dying alone.

Nico was later revived by the Staff of One, using her last spell as well as her blood as a sacrifice to bring her to life. The spell restored her missing arm and the rest of her body. Her staff is now half the size of what it was, while the other half seems to have been made into a gauntlet on her new arm. It appears that her staff and her gauntlet both work similar in forms of magic spell, as her previous Staff of One did. Nico then went to attack against Katy, Death Locket, and Chase, where she destroyed the sentinel and defeated Chase. Nico then used a spell that buried Death Locket and Katy, which she believed to have killed them.

These events leave her so distraught that, upon subduing Cullen's monster form, she tries to kill him and orders Chase to hold off Cammi, believing that all being herself did while inside the game was earn her a early death. Cammi confronts her in the Darkhawk Armor, having taken it from Chase, and tries to reason with her. At first the talk between Cammi and Nico seems to be working out, until Nico realizes she has the amulet of Darkhawk. This makes her suspect Cammi has harmed Chase. Before Cammi can explain, the two engage in battle. Eventually they and other contestants are distracted by Hazmat's powers going out of control. After the situation with Hazmat is handled, Nico along with several others stop fighting one another and decide to work together. The teenagers agree that it isn't easy to kill one another, and worse, Apex is now causing several creatures to attack them all. In the end, Death Locket saves Nico and the rest of them by killing Apex and stopping Arcade's machinery. Later, several adult superhero teams arrive on Murderworld, rescuing Nico and the surviving teenagers.

Three months after leaving Murderworld, Nico confronts Chase when he is being interviewed on a TV show. Chase comments that she missed Molly's birthday. Nico and Chase teleport to join Aiden, Cammi, and Death Locket at Cul-len's house. They go to Bagalia to find Cullen, who has gone in search of Arcade.

Entering into the town of villains there is a brief scuffle where she calls Chase's loyalty into question. She meets Daimon Hellstrom, who offers to teach her about black magic. She is teleported with the rest to confront Arcade. Nico, Cullen, and Death Locket shut down Arcade's control center and rejoin Chase, Aiden, Cammi, and Hazmat to fight Arcade. They stop short of killing him, when Hazmat finished him off.

Baron Zemo invites the seven Murderworld survivors to stay in Bagalia and join the Masters of Evil. Nico and Cullen fought demons at Mephisticuffs, a fight club in Bagalia. Daimon Hellstrom told her that she needed a friend to help her find a middle ground be-tween being a hero and being a killer like her parents, and Alex Wilder resurrected, appearing be-fore her.

Alex trains Nico to use her new powers. At first, Nico gets mad at Alex for flirting with her. After a while, Nico decides that being good keeps turning out wrong, so she's going to do the bad thing, and she kisses Alex. Daimon mind-controls Cullen into attacking Aiden, so Nico battles Daimon. The Avengers arrive to rescue Nico and the others, and a fight with the Masters of Evil ensues. The Masters suddenly disappear, and Alex tells Nico that it was all a trap by Baron Zemo. Alex says goodbye and returns to hell.

Nico left the Runaways to reconnect with her family in Japan. The wedding of Nico's cousin was crashed by the arrival of Singularity, Medusa, She-Hulk, who were escaping from the Antimatter. Nico assisted the heroines in fighting the villain, and they became a short-lived team called A-Force. Also, Nico woke up on day having regained her arm, with her staff and her powers also having re-turned to their original ways.

She, once again, attempted to lead a normal life, but this was interrupted by Chase, who had used the time machine that belonged to Gert's parents to go back in time in an attempt to save her from dying. Even though he failed to stop her from getting hurt, Chase retrieved Gert's body and returned to the present. Arriving to Nico's house, Chase requested her help, and she used the Staff of One to save Gert's life. Enraged after learning that the team had drifted apart, Gert rallied Nico and Chase to get the team together. Nico was initially reluctant, but she realized that she didn't have anyone, and figured being together with the Runaways would keep her good.

When the team returned, they moved to the The Hostel's main building. Nico stepped into team leader duties, but concealed how painful her relationship with the Staff of One had become, and refrained from summoning it. To help provide to the team, both Nico and Chase got run-of-the-mill jobs. Shortly after Karolina's girlfriend Julie Power broke up with her, Nico decided to act on her feelings for Karolina, and they started dating.

Skrulls

Background:
The Skrull race is a species of green skinned humanoids that originate from the planet Skrullos in the Andromeda Galaxy many eons ago.

Their earliest origins and evolution is lost to time. Xorr the God-Jewel has claimed that the Skrulls, along with most other humanoid races are the descendants of the ancient Xorrians. Another group called the Builders have also claimed to be responsible for creating the Skrulls and other races. However these claims are unsubstantiated. What-ever the case, the Skrulls -- like many other races in the universe -- were selected by the enigmatic Celestials for experimentation, creating three distinct Skrull vari-ants: baseline Skrulls with no inherent abilities but having the capacity for mutation, the neigh powerful Skrullian Eternals, and Skrullian Deviants.

Yet another offshoot developed from the Skrulls, a race of black magic practitioners who became known as the Dire Wraiths, who soon departed Skrullos to inhabit the Dark Nebula and espoused plans for universal domination.

The Deviant of Armechadon known as Tantalus, created by the rogue Celestian known as the Dreaming Celestial, convinced Deviants of all other races to eliminate their baseline and Eternal counterparts, including those of the Skrull race. Whatever the case, millions of years ago, the Deviant Skrulls went to war against the other offshoots of their race, under the command of the warrior princess Sl'gur't until the vast majority of the other Skrull races were wiped out. At the time they believed to had drove the other races to extinction except for a lone Eternal Skrull named Kly'bn.

When Sl'gur't's forces stormed the "Unworthies"'s stronghold in the Valley of the Esul, Kly'bn convinced Sl'gur't not to kill him, as doing so would ultimately mean the death of their race and their greater destiny. Kly'bn spoke of a destiny beyond the stars where the Skrull people would rule over all those who were inferior Skrulls. Accepting this truth, Sl'gur't and Kly'bn were married, and transcended into godhood. This became the foundation of the Deviant Skrull's religion, they formed a religion called the Book of Worlds that was based on a manifest destiny over the entire universe. Sl'gur't and Kly'bn were worshiped as gods to the Skrulls, and over the centuries that followed the religion endured, however many of the Skrulls believed the tales from the Book to be myth, but devout followers endured over the ages. These devout worshipers formed a religion called the Dard'van.

Over the centuries, the worlds invaded by the Skrulls the various pantheon gods of the 978 other worlds were either killed or enslaved. Among those gods, Hadith, Omen-Maker, PathLigher the god of the Queega of Quolan, Blessed-of-Litters of the Druff of Ryas, and Ceffyad the Righteous of Idoidea Swarm Collective had been co-opted and enslaved by the Skrull gods. Statues commemorating their fall and assimilation into Skrull culture soon became much of the imagery used in Skrull places of worship. One of the most powerful and longest living Skrulls was Nogor, who was the talisman of the Skrull people and a step below the gods himself. Nogor often was present in the vicinity of Skrull conflicts as a show of approval for the Skrull gods.

About 10 million years ago, the Skrull became a great technologically advanced empire and a peaceful race for a time, they established colonies all over the Andromeda galaxy, establishing a new throneworld on Tarnax IV. Under the rule of Emperor Dorrek I, the Skrulls sought to share their technological advancement with another race. They discovered the planet Hala home to two distinct races: the blue skinned humanoids known as the Kree and the plant-like Cotati. Unwilling to share their gifts with two races, the Skrulls placed a number of each race on Blue Area of Earth's moon with the challenge to see who could build the most advanced city within a year. When the Skrulls returned they found that the Kree used Skrullian technology to build a massive technological metropolis, while the Cotati managed to breathe new life on the surface of the moon, creating a lush forest. The Skrulls ruled in favor of the Cotati, angering the Kree who slaughtered Dorrek and his part. They then reversed engineered Skrull technology to build their own warships and attack the Skrull homeworld. This act of aggression led to the beginning of the centuries long Kree/Skrull War, the Skrulls abandoned their peaceful ways and became a race of conquerors taking over planets by force and expanding their galactic empire. Around this time, a Skrull ventured into the Citadel of Light and Shadow on a quest to obtain the reality altering device known as the Crystal of Ultimate Vision. The Skrull managed to get to the Crystal, and sought to claim it for his own. That quest was in fact a test, a mature species renouncing that power, and the Skrulls therefore failed the test: The Skrulls ended up in an evolutionary dead end and the Skrull who failed the test was turned into a statue that would go on to stand before the Citadel.

Thousands of years ago, the Skrulls were involved in a scientific endeavor to invent the Lifestone Tree a collection of powerful gems that endowed the Chosen Eight of Fate to be guardians of the galaxy, one of their number included a Skrull. The Chosen Eight were active for about 200 years. During this time four members died in battle, two of died of old age, one retired, and the final member's whereabouts became a mystery for centuries. The fate of the Skrull who fought with the Chosen eight is unknown. Ultimately, the gems making up the Lifestone Tree were lost after an attack by space pirates and the gems were lost on Earth well into more modern times. Relatively around this time another Skrull was responsible for creating a Cosmic Cube a powerful device that could alter reality to the whims of the user. When given to the Skrull emperor at the time he used the power of the Cube to make himself a god. However the Cube gained its power through the realm of the Beyonders and soon developed a megalomaniacal persona that matched its user and laid waste to the entire Skrull Empire, destroying many of its world's and reducing the Skrulls to barbarism. Eventually the Cube matured changing itself into the so-called Shaper of Worlds and left to seek those with imagination enough to utilize his power, leaving the Skrulls to rebuild their crippled empire.

The Skrulls rebuilt their empire over the centuries and continued age old war with the Kree and continued to expand their empire. They soon became aware of Earth, a planet that was strategically be-tween the Kree and Skrull galaxies and this world became the focal point of many invasion plots by the Skrulls to gain it as a tactical ad-vantage in their war. Presumably, hostilities between the Kree and the Skrulls cooled around this time, and it is possible that it was at this time the Convention of Fornax was signed which among other probably provisions included a moratorium on torturing prisoners of war.

The earliest known interaction be-tween the Skrulls and the planet Earth dates back to the Spanish Inquisition at some time between the late 1400s or early 1500s. The religious natives who found the corpses believed the Skrulls to be demons and cast their bodies in an inaccessible ravine. While persecuting a group of Inhumans they were tossed into the ravine and were forced to feed off the corpses, infecting their bodies with the highly invasive Skrull DNA which mutated them and caused them to endure for centuries. In the year 1776, A Skrull arrived on Earth and briefly disguised himself as Thomas Jefferson during the writing of the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. The Skrull attempted to affect the writing of the Bill of Rights so that slavery was still allowed in early America so that humans would be prepared for a life of slavery during an eventual Skrull invasion. However this plot was thwarted by the Fantastic Four heroes from the 21st century (Who in future years had been the Skrulls longest enemies) who were searching for a ChronalAnchor. The FF foiled the plot and their leader Mr. Fantastic used hypnosis to turn the Skrulls into cows, a trick he used on the Skrulls that he used on the aliens the first time he met them a number of centuries in the future.

The next recorded incident of Skrulls active on Earth occurred in the 19th century during the days of the American Frontier. A Skrull invasion party set up operations in the town of Wilcox, Oklahoma. The Skrulls there disguised themselves as famous outlaws in order to steer people away, however the local Apache tribe became aware of their duplicitous nature if not their origins. A chance encounter with outlaws Kid Colt and Arizona Annie uncovered the truth and the two gunslingers fought for their lives, decimating the entire town with dynamite, slaying the Skrulls who lived there. The Skrulls were not reportedly seen on Earth until the early half of the 20th century. By this point, Skrulls living on the planet Kral IV established Slave-Masters who took to abducting aliens from other worlds. They kid-napped mobster Machine Gun Martin as he had escaped from prison. The Skrulls on Kral became highly interested in the styles, mannerisms and society of the prohibition era America through their interactions with Martin, many Skrulls on the planet adopted human forms for formed gangs and adopting the culture. Skrull mobsters such as Boss Barker, Lippy Louie, and others resolved mob disputes with gladiatorial combat between their slaves.

A Skrull scientist at one point stated that he was the earliest attempt at a "super" Skrull, being experimented on in the 1930s. The resulting ex-periment did not endow him with super-powers but instead a leg encased in stone, which rendered him useless as a soldier. In 1947, the last known prime Skrull survivor attempted to flee capture from the Deviant Skrulls and his ship crash landed on Earth in Roswell, New Mexico. He was quickly captured by the United States government who experimented on him for years. Another ship, part of a scouting party for an upcoming invasion also crashed on Earth in the American southwest during that year. Aboard the ship were Skrull agents Velmax and Zuhn. Exiting their ship Zuhn was shot by a hunter named Jacob Scott who died in a car crash trying to flee the scene. Velmex stole Scott's identity and fled the scene, leaving Zuhn and their ship to be recovered by the government. Velmex used his identity to work his way into the ranks of the CIA to learn what he could about the Earth's defensive capabilities, but soon came to love the Earth and it's culture and decided to thwart his master's plans. In the early 1950s, Velmax considered taking up the role of Captain America by decided against it. Velmex was not the only Skrull active on Earth at that time. In 1958, a Skrull spy named Zirksu who came on a infiltration mission. He kidnapped test pilot Chuck Chandler and tried to probe him for answers. Chandler managed to escape and bombarded with strange energy he was trans-formed into the 3-D Man and imprinted on his brother Hal's glasses, but could be freed at will. Zirksu meanwhile attempted to subvert American society, taking ad-vantage of the Cold War hysteria at the time and posing as Diabolik, a communist agent. However this initial attempt at causing hysteria in America was thwarted by 3-D Man, but Zirksu escaped.

Zirksu then changed his motus operandi, deciding to use pop-culture as his weapon to further the Skrulls invasion plans. As the leader of a biker gang he attempt-ed to eliminate any sighting reports of his invasion fleet. Posing as recording studio agent Doc Rock, he attempted to manipulate Ameri-can youth through the music of up-and-coming rock 'n' roller Vance Rivers. Both plots were foiled by 3-D Man. After failing to free Rivers from prison, Zirksu took on the form of then Vice-President Richard Nixon and assisted in empowering Eric Sinkovitz, who attacked 3-D Man as the communist themed Cold Warrior. When 3-D Man defeated Cold Warrior, Zirksu abandoned his Nixon disguise and has not been seen since. Also in 1958, Velmex tracked his ship to a government facility in Long Island, New York. There he encountered the super-hero team known as the First Line and prevented the ship from falling into communist hands. Exposed to the energies of his ship, Velmax briefly reverted back to his Skrull form, but convinced the heroes that the energies mutated him into a shape-shifter and joined the First Line's ranks. Unknown to Velmax, his commander Zuhn survived the past decade and escaped the facility to resume his mission.

By November of 1963, Zuhn had aligned himself with super-powered villains of Earth under the guise of Chimera and attacked a Stark Industries facility in Dallas Texas on the 21st of that year with the super-human known as Lu-pine. The First Line stopped Chimera from stealing technology he needed to get off planet, and he was slain in the process, although Velmax kept Chimera's true nature a secret from his teammates. Later on July 16, 1969, Skrull invaders attempted to sabotage Apollo 11 moon landing using Earth operatives Lupine, Typhoon, Positron, Blackjack, and Axis, but this attempt was also thwarted by the First Line. With a Skrull invasion impending an President Richard Nixon threatening to dismantle the First Line, Velmax used his inside knowledge to expose the Watergate Scandal, which ended in Nixon's impeachment, and allowing the First Line to continue to operate -- if only underground.

On top of their ongoing invasion plans, the Skrulls sent yet more spies to infiltrate Earth society. A group of Skrulls apparently replaced the popular British rock group the Beatles sometime around what music critics called "The British Invasion" with the intention of infiltrating Earth through popular culture. Another group apparently took the places of the group known as Gerry and the Peacemakers as well. However, like the Skrulls of Kral IV, these Skrulls soon came to adopt the culture and continued their music careers. By December 1974 the "Skrull Beatles" went their separate ways, "Skrull John" left to join Captain Boko in the Kree Liberation Army, "Skrull George" going on a pilgrimage into the Dark Dimension with its ruler the dread Dormammu, "Skrull Ringo" sought fame and fortune, while "Skrull Paul" went to see how the Skrull versions of Gerry and the Peacemakers were coming along with their invasion plans. While the Skrull Beatles have since resurfaced the Skrull Peacemakers fate is unknown.

By this time the Skrull throne was taken by Dorrek VII who slew his predecessor and married his daughter R'Klll. Their coupling gave them a daughter they named Anelle a born pacifist who sought peace, unlike her warmongering father. Dorrek's brother Prince Dezan a Skrull who sought a peaceful way of life began conspiring with the like minded Zabyk and Myrn. When Prince Dezan's peaceful goals were revealed, Dorrek encased him in an iron mask and had him imprisoned. Zabyk and Myrn pushed their goals under-ground and continued to operate in Skrull society to further their ends. Shortly after his own rise to power, Dorrek became the target of an assassin named Krimonn. However Dorrek managed to thwart this attempt and as punishment entrapped Krimonn in a device commonly known as a Power Prism. Dorrek sent a Skrull named Zankor was sent to Earth with memory implants that left him to believe that he was merely a human, however his ship crashed causing massive head injuries that submerged his memories so deep that he believed himself to be a human aware of some alien invasion, and frantically tried to warn the authorities. However, the truth was revealed when Zankor was directed to young scientist Reed Richards who deduced that Zankor was really the alien as he was the only one able to decipher the language from the recording device that held his proof and he was turned over to the authorities. Also at this time, the Skrulls managed to find a weak link in the First Line. When First Line member the Yeti was reeling over the death of his teammate and love Rapunzel, they sent a female operative to gain his trust. Ultimately, the Skrulls pushed for-ward with their invasion plans, and the First Line along with a squad of their allies and enemies opposed them. Despite betrayal from Yeti, and large casualties, the First Line destroyed the Skrull invasion fleet, sacrificing nearly their entire roster in the process to stop it. Mean-while, Yeti and his Skrullian lover fled to the Himalayas Mountains, where she eventually died.

The Skrulls apparently did not make another attempt to take over Earth until over 10 years ago, shortly after the birth of the Fantastic Four, a new group of super-heroes who ironically had Reed Richards leading the group. Seeing the Four as the only threat to their plans. They sent four of their agents to impersonate the Fantastic Four, committing crimes to dis-credit the heroes. However the Four managed to escape captivity and uncover their doppelgangers. Richards then forced the Skrulls to take him to their invasion ship and convince the crew that Earth was protected by invincible warriors and giant monsters, using pictures clipped out of comic books. The Skrulls were easily duped and while one of the spies was allowed to return home with the mother-ship, the remaining three captive Skrulls were forced to shapeshift into cows and were hypnotized into believing that was just what they were. Soon discovering this deception, Dorrek was furious and in-vested the entire Skrull Empire's fortune in trying to create an artificial means of giving super-human abilities. Their first tests were on a Skrull named Titannus a weakling Skrull unable to shape-shift. He was given enhanced strength and eventually went on a rampage across the Skrull homeworld and eventually left the Skrull planet to find conquest elsewhere. Dorrek's ambitious plot eventually bore fruit and soon a Skrull warrior named K'lrt was endowed with all the powers of the Fantastic Four, however the source of his power needed to be beamed to him from the Skrull homeworld. As the so-called Super-Skrull, K'lrt clashed with the Fantastic Four on Earth until Reed Richards discovered the source of the Super-Skrull's power and used a jamming device to cut off the energy source. K'lrt was then buried in a dormant volcano.

However, Dorrek had his scientist eventually increase the power to free the Super-Skrull. Seeking revenge against the Fantastic Four, the Super-Skrull abducted Franklin Storm the father of the FF's Invisible Girl and Human Torch. Using his shape-shifting powers, the Super-Skrull took Franklin's place in prison, where he had been serving time for vehicular homicide. Using his powers to break out of prison, the Super-Skrull developed the identity of the Invisible Man to commit crimes and discredit the Fantastic Four in the public eye by making it appear that they were letting the Invincible Man get away with his crimes due to his "family connection" to the Fantastic Four. However, Richards eventually deduced the true identity of their foe and built a weapon that threatened to destroy the Skrull throneworld unless they returned Franklin and took the Super-Skrull away. Dorrek agreed to these terms however his warlord Morrat placed a bomb on Franklin to try and kill the Fantastic Four in a double cross in order to curry Dorrek's favor and win the right to marry Anelle. However this plan was thwarted when Franklin sacrificed his life to save those of his children. For his failure to defeat the Fantastic Four, the Super-Skrull was punished and forced to carry out menial tasks for the empire as punishment.

Following Franklin's death, the Fantastic Four traveled to the Skrull throneworld to avenge his death. There they clashed with Warlord Morrat, and were easily captured due to their powers failing them on the Skrull planet. By this time, Morrat had grown impatient and sought to use the capture of the Fantastic Four as leverage to oust Dorrek as ruler of the Skrulls. However Anelle informed her father and he ordered Morrat's execution. The Four managed to break free and restore their powers. When Dorrek's firing squad shot at Morrat, Anelle tried to shield him, but she was in turn shielded by the Invisible Girl and Morrat was killed. In thanks for protecting his daughter, Dorrek allowed the Fantastic Four to return home, offering them the false promise that the Skrulls would no longer attack the Earth. Also around this time the Krellek Council assigned five young Skrulls to impersonate and discredit the young mutant heroes known as the X-Men. They did so by unleashing some of the Mole Man's creatures on the surface. However they grew sympathetic to the X-Men and assisted the group in subduing the creatures before they were reined in by their superiors. The Super-Skrull was later briefly manipulated by the Fantastic Four's enemy Dr. Doom who used his Emotion Changer device to set a number of super-villains to crash the wedding of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. In the end Super-Skrull and the other attackers were shunted back to where they belonged with no memory of the attack when Reed was given a Time Displacement device by Uatu the Watcher. When the Skrull's detected the approach of the planet eater Galactus, they used a device to shield their world from his view, directing Galactus to the planet Earth, however he was ultimately defeated by the Fantastic Four. About this time, the Super-Skrull was manipulated by the Asgardian trickster god Loki into attacking his half-brother Thor, but was soundly defeated. Yet another Skrull infil-trated Earth society, this time within the FBI, an agent named Baker was replaced by a Skrull. "Agent Baker" then briefly replaced X-Men liaison Fred Duncan. Baker had the X-Men's Beast investigate recent reports of alien sightings before being transferred to another department.

The Skrull crime bosses on Kral IV later sent their Slave-Master to Earth to capture the Thing, the strongest member of the Fantastic Four. The Skrull succeeded in do-ing so by disguising himself as Reed Richards and catching the Thing off guard and abducting him. Soon, the Thing arrived on Kral IV, where he was forced into the gladiatorial arenas as a slave of Boss Baker and made to train to fight against Lippy Louie's champion the Mekkan warrior Torgo. However his comrades in the Fantastic Four tracked the Thing down and brought down the Skrull Slave-Master and the Skrull mobsters, freeing Ben and starting a revolution from the slaves, with Torgo as their leader.

With the awakening of Kree Sentry #459 the Kree Empire renewed its interest in the planet Earth, sending a crew on an information gathering mission, among the crew was decorated Kree soldier Captain Mar-Vell, whose early interactions on Earth were mistaken as a new super-hero calling himself Captain Marvel. The increase in Kree activity on Earth prompted Emperor Dorrek to send the Super-Skrull to learn what the Kree were up to. On Earth, the Super-Skrull clashed with Mar-Vell near Cape Canaveral, Florida. However before the Super-Skrull could probe Mar-Vell's mind and learn his mission, he fell victim to his own hypnotic gaze and was commanded by the Kree soldier to flee the Earth. Not long after this a Skrull device crash landed near Cape Canaveral that was purposely sent there to scan DNA information of Earth warriors. It was collected by Carol Danvers and Mar-Vell, in his alter ego of scientist Walter Lawson. When Danvers touched the device the Skrulls copied her DNA allowing them to assume her form almost perfectly. A Skrull invader then posed as Carol and attempted to kidnap Mar-Vell in an Earth space shuttle launch, but he was thwarted by Danvers who rescued Mar-Vell.

It was around this time that the cosmic entity known as the Grandmaster came into posses-sion of the Power Prism which still had Krimmon imprisoned inside. This device was given to transform Ugandan finance minister Kinji Obatu into Doctor Spectrum, part of the Squadron Sinister a group of powered villains that the Grandmaster created to pit against the heroic Avengers who were pawns of the time traveler Kang in a contest. The Avengers defeated the Squadron but Obatu retained the power prism.

Meanwhile, the Kree targeted Earth again with their then leader Ronan the Accuser attempting to devolve the human race into primitive cave men, leading to a clash with Cap-tain Marvel and the Avengers. However Ronan abandoned this plot when the Skrulls resumed full on hostility against his homeworld. It was about this time that the the lone Skrull that escaped the Fantastic Four in their first encounter with the Skrulls began working with the Super-Skrull who had been exiled following his last failure. The pair used a hyper-beam to revive the Skrulls on Earth who were hypnotized into thinking they were cows. They then joined the Super-Skrull in a plan that K'lrt hoped would win him the favour of his Emperor and win the hand of Anelle in marriage in a bid to gain control of the empire. When the Avenger's battle with Ronan be-came public knowledge one of the Skrull spies took the place of US Presidential Candidate H. Warren Craddock using his political position to spread xenophobia toward the Kree in general, Mar-Vell in particular and to besmirch the reputation of the Avengers. He also formed the Commission of Alien affairs to begin witch hunts to find aliens hiding among the population. When the Avengers helped Mar-Vell go into hiding this turned the public against them. They were also brought in for questioning by the commission under "Haddock". Meanwhile, the Skrulls captured Mar-Vell and his confidant Carol Danvers as their safe house. The remaining three Skrulls then posed as founding Avengers Captain America, Thor and Iron Man, and ordered the current roster to dis-band. Going to reconvene with Mar-Vell, the Avengers were at-tacked by the three Skrulls, who then captured the Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver, but the Vision escaped. He brought the real founding members of the Avengers with him later, while the Super-Skrull -- posing as Carol Danvers -- tried to trick Mar-Vell into building a Omni-Wave Projector a communications device which could also double as a devastating weapon. Mar-Vell saw through the ploy, but this did not stop K'lrt from knocking him out and escaping the arriving Avengers, who bested the three Skrull spies. The three captured Skrulls were once more forced to resume thinking they were cows, where they eventually ended up in the town of King's Crossing. While the Super-Skrull took Mar-Vell and the prisoners to the Great Refuge of the Inhumans, whom he knew were empowered by the Kree and tried to destroy it, but the city was too well protected. He then took his prisoners to the Andromeda galaxy to deliver to Emperor Dorrek, the Avengers were attacked by "Haddock" using S.H.E.I.L.D. Mandroids. While on Tarnax IV where Dorrek subdued the Super-Skrull and he forced Mar-Vell to agree to build an Omni-Wave Projector in exchange for the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's lives. Back on Earth the Avengers fought free of the Mandroids and assisted Inhuman leader Black Bolt from liberating his people from his mad brother Maximus, but the Avenger's ally Rick Jones was captured by the Kree.

Hostilities by this point had escalated to the point where Dorrek ordered a Skrull armada to destroy the Earth. The Avengers, on their way to rescue their friends intercepted the invasion party and then fought them head on. Mar-Vell meanwhile tricked Dorrek into thinking his was compliant but used the distraction to break free. While on the Kree world of Hala, Rick was imprisoned with the disposed Kree ruler, the Supreme Intelligence who awoken the dormant Destiny Force within Rick. With the Intelligence's guidance, Rick used the Destiny Force to immobilize the Kree and Skrull armies, while the Avengers halted the Skrull's attempt to blow up the Earth, while on Earth the Skrull posing as H. Warren Craddock was reverted to his Skrullian form and beaten to death by an angry mob. In the aftermath of the battle a Skrull Monsteroid crash landed on Earth and was briefly used by both the Puppet Master and Master Khan. The robot was stopped by Spider-Man, the Vision and Iron Fist respectively. With the Kree-Skrull War over for the time being, Captain Mar-Vell met and conspired with Anelle to try to bring peace to their worlds. While a solution was not found, a brief romance between the two impregnated Anelle with a child. When born, Anelle named him Dorrek VIII. Learning of his grandson's mixed heritage, Emperor Dorrek ordered the baby killed, but Anelle managed to smuggle the child to Earth where he spent the coming years unaware of his royal heritage.

Also as a result of the war, Reed Richards, Iron Man, Black Bolt, Sub-Mariner, Professor X, and Dr. Strange form the Illuminati a clandestine group that would monitor and respond on super-human incidents. Their first order of business was to travel to the Skrull throne-world where Dorrek VII was being appraised of their losses in the war, primarily due to Earth's super-human population. The Illuminati provided a stern warning to Dorrek, telling him to no longer invade the Earth or suffer the consequence, and demonstrated this by blowing up a Skrull warship. However, the Skrulls managed to capture the humans and put them through torturous experiments to learn the secrets of their abilities, under Dorrek's orders. The heroes eventually broke out and managed to flee the Skrull homeworld and re-turn to Earth. In the aftermath, Dorrek learned that they completed collecting all the data they knew on human mutation, magic, and technology and ordered his Priests of Science to get to work engineering Skrulls who could mimic all those skills, no matter how long it would take. Dorrek was intent to fulfill the Skrull prophecies that foretold that the Skrull homeworld would be destroyed and that Earth would be theirs to take. Following the attack, Dorrek was confronted by Dard'van priestess Veranke who demanded that Dorrek listen to the prophecies of their religion, warning him that the Skrull Empire was doomed and that Earth was their destiny.

Not only did Dorrek dismiss these prophetic warnings, he had Veranke banished to the now deserted Skrullos where she remained in exile for years. The Skrulls first attempts at replicating their human foes came in the form of Reed Richards, whom Dorrek promptly shot in the head, disgust-ed by the fact that his scientists used the man who turned one of his relatives into a cow. Experiments continued to take place as the Skrulls attempted to find a means of evading notice of the Illuminati by creating clones and having them act out scenarios. Dorrek was frustrated by the con-stant failures until one Skrull scientist named Dro'ge suggested merely cloning Reed Richards and creating scenarios to trick him into using his intelligence to come up with the ideal way of creating a race of Skrulls that were immune to detection. After using threats and violence towards the clone's "family", Dro'ge came up with a simpler solution, using Richard's love of his son Franklin Richards and using a Skrull to pose as the boy to trick the clone into puzzling out the solution in order to allay his "son's" fears of possible Skrull infiltration. After coming up with the solution on paper, the Richards clone was killed and Dro'ge began to work on making the technology work.

The Skrulls were slow to recover from the outcome of the Kree/Skrull War. A number of Skrulls ended up aligning them-selves with the mad Titan Thanos, including the Super-Skrull and Skragg. Thanos sought to obtain a Cosmic Cube that was created on Earth and targeted Captain Marvel and his partner Rick Jones to try and obtain its location. After a failed attempt by Skragg to drive Mar-Vell and Jones mad, they at-tempted a physical attack by trick-ing him into fighting the Thing, this also failed and Skragg was slain by Thanos. Ultimately, Thanos stepped in and captured Mar-Vell and Jones. Super-Skrull accompanied him to the moon of Titan where Thanos extracted the location of the Cube and left Super-Skrull in charge. Mar-Vell was freed by Mentor and Starfox of the Eternals of Titan, they defeated Super-Skrull in combat and retook the moon for the Eternals. The Su-per-Skrull meanwhile was left for dead. Eventually, Thanos gathered an invasion fleet to attack the Earth, many of his troops were Skrulls who were slain when the Avengers thwarted the invasion. The Super-Skrull managed to flee to Earth where he took on the guise of Joshua Plague and took control of a band of raiders calling them-selves the Rat Pack, using them to steal experimental serums to heal his injuries from battling Mar-Vell. The group clashed with the feline hero Tigra when they slaughtered a Cheyenne reservation to obtain a mystical object called the Soul-Catcher. This slaughter also brought the hero Red Wolf on their trail as well. The two heroes tracked down the Rat Pack and in the heat of the battle, the Super-Skrull revealed his true identity to them. Unfortunately for the Super-Skrull his plan backfired when he attempted to use the Soul-Catcher against Tiger and found himself sucked into the object instead, trapping him inside. The Soul-Catcher was then turned over to the Fantastic Four for safe keeping.

Around this period, the Fantastic Four were tasked with trying to save Counter-Earth from being consumed by Galactus. To this end the High Evolutionary sent two teams to different worlds suitable for Galactus to consume to ensure they weren't inhabited. One team consisting of the Human Torch and the New Man called Gor found a world where a group of Skrulls were living out fantasies based on Earth's medieval period. The Skrulls dropped their guise and explained their being there after the Human Torch accepted a challenge to battle a dragon. With the last of the dragons on that world destroyed, the Skrulls had no reason to stay and left that world to find new worlds to master. Ultimately the Fantastic Four won the battle when Galactus was seemingly destroyed. But he would eventually return to consume worlds again. Back on Earth, a battle between Spider-Man and the villain called Equinox at the Baxter Building, headquarters of the Fantastic Four, resulted in the Soul-Catcher being knocked loose. This allowed the Super-Skrull to free himself, and he battled both Spider-Man and the Human Torch. The Skrull managed to escape and sought out a power crystal to build a warp drive capable of allowing him to finally escape from Earth. However this attracted the attention of Ms. Marvel who assisted Spider-Man in pursuing the Super-Skrull. The Skrull was defeated when Spider-Man created a jamming device to prevent the Skrull from gaining more power reacted with the power crystal, opening a warp gate that the Super-Skrull was seemingly lost in forever.

The Skrulls later resumed plotting against their age-old enemies the Kree. A lone Skrull infiltrated the Kree Empire, posing as Por-Bat a member of the Kree Science Council and instigated preparations for a conflict dubbed the War of Three Galaxies. He then tried to trick the Kree into using the Inhu-mans as soldiers on a supposed "sneak attack" on the Skrulls. How-ever the Skrulls had laid a trap and were prepared to destroy their enemies once and for all. The plan was foiled however when the Science Council was interrupted by Captain Marvel and Black Bolt who held off their opening strike long enough for Mar-Vell to reveal that Por-Bat was really a Skrull spy. The Kree put a halt to their attack plans for the time being. Shortly after this, former ruler of Kral IV, Boss Barker, decided to get revenge against the Thing for ruining his dominion over the planet. To this end, he be-headed the robot Torgo and went after the Thing on Earth. Captain Marvel detected Boss Barker's presence on Earth and came to the Thing's aid. In the end it was the severed head of Torgo who put Barker's threat to an end, when he used the last of his energy to slay Barker before he could finish off the two heroes.

Emperor Dorrek then turned his sights to the planet Xandar one of the last worlds in the Andromeda Galaxy that was not already under Skrull rule. The Xandarians sent their ruler Adora to Earth to seek the help of the Fantastic Four. A Skrull assassin (really a robot) fol-lowed her, but it was waylaid and left for dead by the FF. Mr. Fantas-tic, Invisible Girl and the Thing agreed to help Adora defend her world. As the heroes transported to Xandar the Skrull assassin -- having survived -- hide himself in the Baxter Building to await the team's return. When the Fantastic Four arrived on Xandar, they drove back the latest wave of Skrull attackers. Emperor Dorrek then became aware of another ship heading to the planet and ordered his troops to destroy it. This ship was formally owned by the Nova Corpsman Rhomann Dey and was en-route to Xandar from Earth. It happened to be carrying the hero Nova, his al-lies Powerhouse, the Comet, Crime-Buster and their foes the Sphinx, Dr. Sun, and Diamond Head. This combination of super-humans easily fought off the Skrull armada and continued toward Xandar. Meanwhile the Fantastic Four continued to battle the Skrulls on the planet, but were abducted and brought to the Skrull home-world. There Emperor Dorrek had them put before a trail by the Jury of Six who sentenced them to death for their "crimes" against the Skrull Empire. The three members of the team were then blasted with an ageing ray by the Skrull execu-tioner Jaketch. As the FF broke free and attempted to make their es-cape, Dorrek's estranged queen R'Klll returned to oversee her hus-band’s attack on Xandar and found that Dorrek was a coward and began aspiring to take over his rule. The Four were rescued from space by Nova and his party and brought back to Xandar and they brought the Human Torch to the planet with them. However the Sphinx ab-sorbed information from the Xan-darian Worldmind and fled to Earth. Meanwhile Protector of Xandar led warriors to fight the Skrulls in space. The Fantastic Four then left to find Galactus to help stop the Sphinx, leaving Nova and his newly formed New Cham-pions to defend Xandar from fur-ther Skrull attacks. While on the Skrull homeworld, Dorrek had de-cided to cut his losses but before he could pull his troops back he was murdered by R'Klll, who then took command of the Skrull Empire. His first order was to launch an all-out attack on Xandar.

Back on Earth, the Fantastic Four brought Galactus with them to deal with the Sphinx as the effects of the Skrull ageing ray began to reach its fatal conclusion. They were unaware that the Skrull they felled earlier was still alive and plotting against them. After both the Sphinx and Galactus were de-feated, the ageing Fantastic Four were forced to be put in stasis with the Human Torch the only member unaffected. The robot Skrull assas-sin then attacked Johnny while his guard was down, but the Torch destroyed the robot. He revived Reed who used the robots technol-ogy to build a device that would reverse the effect of the ageing ray, restoring the stricken Fantastic Four to normal. Meanwhile, the Skrulls continued to launch attacks against Xandar. Another Skrull attempted to manipulate the Avengers into going back in time and collecting the Resurrection Stone for him. However the Avenger known as the Beast smashed the stone and the Skrull was ultimately defeated. A group of Skrulls later attempted to assassinate Reed Richards by crashing their ship into the Baxter Building, but their attempt was stopped by the super-powerful Sentry. Also around this time the Super-Skrull kidnapped both Wolverine and novice X-Man Kitty Pryde taking them into space to examine as part of an invasion plan. The pair were assisted by the arrival of Captain Marvel, who helped the two mutants escape to Earth and foil Kl'rt's plans.

One of her first duties as Empress to the Skrull Empire, R'Klll assigned a Skrull named Raksor to act as an ambassador to the Shi'ar who at the time were seeking to persecute Phoenix of the X-Men for the destruction of the D'bari star system. Raksor accompanied the Shi'ar along with Bel-Dann his Kree counterpart to the Blue Area of the Moon where the X-Men were to battle the Shi'ar's Imperial Guard to determine the fate of the Phoenix. Raksor was unimpressed to work alongside a member of the Kree. When Raksor tried to attack the X-Man Wolverine, he was rescued by Bel-Dann. Furious at being saved by a hated enemy the two began to fight among each other deep below the surface of the moon. They would spend the next few months below the surface of the moon fighting, completely oblivious to events that would later unfold.

Out in deep space, the Skrulls began working on a matter transference device to boost their war effort. They found the key when their device linked to Reed Richard's similarly designed energy transfer device on Earth. Seeking to obtain Reed's device, and fearing interference from the Kree, the Skrulls sent agents to stop Captain Marvel while sending the best warriors -- dubbed the Prime Ten -- to Earth. The Prime Ten ambushed the Fantastic Four at their headquarters, but were ultimately defeated by the Four and Mar-Vell. Using the transference device they sent the Skrulls back to their asteroid base causing the device to overload and explode, ruining their plans of ever using it against the Kree. While back out in Skrull space, the Skrulls managed to defeat Protector and his warriors thanks to the assistance of Diamondhead who betrayed his "allies", slaying Crime-Buster in the process. Shunting Protector and his crew into another dimension a Skrull war party disguised themselves as the crew and returned to Xandar to launch an ambush attack. There they were opposed by Nova, Powerhouse and the Spaceknight Rom who was on Xandar trying to learn the location of his homeworld Galador. With the assistance of Rom, the New Champions managed to thwart the Skrull invasion.

When it was learned that Captain Marvel was dying of cancer, the Skrulls sent General Zedrao to award their greatest enemy a Skrull medal of valor and pay his respects on behalf of the Skrull Empire. However the duplicitous Skrulls also took advantage of this situation to continue their constant infiltration and spying. Among the gathered heroes come to pay their respects to the dying hero was a Skrull named Bartak who initially infiltrated the gathering posing as the hero known as Devil-Slayer. However upon noticing that the real Devil-Slayer was in attend-ance, Bartak changed his shape to resemble the Silver Surfer who at the time was exiled and stranded on Earth after betraying his former master Galactus. When the heroes inquired as to how the "Surfer" managed to escape the Earth, Bar-tak convinced them that Galactus had set him free. His deception a success, Bartak returned to the Skrull homeworld and underwent augmentation to imitate the Surf-er's powers and continued to pose as the hero in space while he was still exiled on Earth. The Skrulls soon planned another invasion of Earth, the plans of which were learned by the Shi'ar who sent their agent Gladiator to warn the Fantas-tic Four. However Skrulls impersonating the X-Men intercepted Gladiator and convinced him that the Fantastic Four had been re-placed by Skrulls leading to a bat-tle between the famed group and Gladiator. However with the assistance of Spider-Man and Captain America, the Fantastic Four man-aged to reveal the Skrull trick and defeated the X-Men imitators. They were then taken into custody of Gladiator who took them into space.

During all this time, the Skrulls who were trapped in the form of cows on Earth were being milked in the town of King's Crossing. When the towns people began ingesting the milk their bodies were infected with the invasive Skrull DNA. These now half-Skrull half-humans be-came increasingly xenophobic and began shutting off the town while mass producing the Skrull DNA infused milk. When the Fantastic Four's friend Sharon Selleck stumbled upon the town and was forced to stay, she managed to contact the Fantastic Four who came to her rescue. Getting a sample of the tainted milk, Reed Richards man-aged to develop an antidote and cure the locals and destroy all the tainted milk and crops that were irrigated with it. The Skrull cows however where not located at this time and continued to endure for a time, some of them even began breeding producing Skrull/Cow hybrids. R'Klll was also in talks with the Kree Supreme Intelligence and they made an agreement that the outcome of the Kree/Skrull War would be determined by proxies and selected both Raksor and Bel-Dann on the moon. They had the Watcher gather the two combatants and they agreed that whoever one the one-on-one battle would then determine whose race was the victor in the war. Also around this time a Skrull scholar named Klobok was exiled from the Skrull throneworld for his obsessive re-search of magic.

The Skrull homeworld soon came under threat of consumption by Galactus when his newest herald Nova who was able to detect the Skrull throneworld even though it was cloaked, as in previous close calls with the world devourer. Shortly before the arrival of Galac-tus, a group of X-Men from the near future found themselves transported to the Skrull home-world by the other-dimension be-ing known as Ejulp. There the group discovered an elaborate training facility that was designed to resemble New York City where Skrulls were training as disguised super-heroes for yet another planned invasion of Earth. These new Warskrulls were designed to be locked into the form of those they impersonated. The X-Men clashed with their spies-in-training who posed as various super-heroes both dead and alive, including some based after the X-Men themselves. The battle raged until suddenly Galactus arrive to consume the planet. The X-Men's leader Professor X then attempted to convince Galactus not to consume the Skrull throne world, however his efforts were in vein. The X-Men, were then forced to flee the planet in a ship that would pilot them back to Earth, on an extend-ed course that would bring them home in their proper time. Despite their efforts to fight off Galactus, the world devourer succeeded in consuming the Skrull throneworld. Among those slain in the destruction were Empress R'Klll and her daughter Anelle. Reed Richards was ultimately blamed for the destruction of the Skrull throneworld due to the fact that he previously saved the life of Galactus. He was then kidnapped by the Shi'ar who were acting on behalf of the Skrulls at the behest of Prelate Karant Kiar. During the so-call "Trial of Galactus", Karant Kiar sought to have Richards found guilty for the slaughter of his homeworld and executed. However testimony from the Watcher, Asgardian All-Father Odin, the embodiment of the uni-verse known as Eternity and from Galactus himself convinced the court that Galactus was an integral part of the universe and the destruction of the Skrull homeworld was part of a greater destiny, and so Richards was acquitted of all charges and released. Following the destruction of their homeworld, Skrulls that were determined to have mutant abilities were no longer culled, and were used for experimentation and weaponizing purposes, although they passed along the legend of Charles Xavier, the man who tried to save the throneworld when none of the Skrull would stand up to the world devourer.

One of the few survivors of the destruction of Throneworld was the son of the Skrull scientist who helped created the Super-Skrull. When Galactus was destroying throneworld, he used his technology to endow his son with enhanced abilities and sent the boy to Earth in the hopes that he would conquer the Earth. However when this Skrull child's ship landed in the American mid-west, he was found by a devoutly religious family, who unaware of his Skrull heritage raised the boy as their own under their Christian values system under the name Ethan Edwards.

With the death of R'Klll five then six Skrull governors all vied for control of the empire. These governors included Gorath, Kylor, Yorak, an unnamed overweight female Skrull, S'Byll of Satriani, and Karza. All began their own agendas and the Skrull Empire fell into complete chaos, with the governors of each Skrull world claiming the title of emperor or empress. Civil war broke out between the various Skrull worlds claiming more lives than Galactus destroyed in his consumption. This made the Andromeda galaxy ripe for the picking for the space pirate known as Nebula the self-proclaimed daughter of Thanos the Mad Titan and she began raiding world after world, eventually forming an alliance with Skrull governor Gorath. It was during this ensuing chaos that Skrull scientists Myrn and Zybek were reunited, and they began working on a Hyper-Wave Bomb that would change their empire completely. However they were unaware that their entire plan was overheard by Raksor who sought out allies to stop their mad schemes.

With their empire crippled, the Skulls began focusing on other external threats. The Dire Wraiths, offshoots of the Skrull race, were gaining a foothold on Earth and other worlds despite the intervention of the Spaceknight Rom. As such the Skrulls sent a landing party to the town of Clairton West Virginia, a town that was a beach-head in the Wraith invasion of Earth. The Skrull's arrival coincided with the Dire Wraith's final push to wipe out the town and defeat Rom and his ally Starshine, whom the Wraiths banished to a shadow dimension. The Skrulls held off the Dire Wraiths until Rom and Starshine could free themselves and assisted the Spaceknights in wiping out the Wraiths there. Needing to return to their crippled empire, the Skrulls left but their leader -- named Supremor warned Rom that if he failed to exterminate the remaining Wraiths on Earth, the Skrulls would destroy the plane. Over the past months, the Super-Skrull had been caught in a hyper-space gateway travelling to the Skrull homeworld. However with the destruction of the planet at the hands of Galactus, the Super-Skrull found himself shunted back to Earth. His return to Earth brought him to the Mount Logan Cosmic Research Station in the Yukon territories of Canada. There he decimated the crew and clashed with the Canadian super-hero known as Sasquatch. When it became determined that K'lrt had contracted an advanced form of Leukemia from the months spent travelling un-shielded through hyperspace radiation, the Sasquatch agreed to build a device that would transport the Super-Skrull back to Earth. However the hirsute hero was merely waiting for the Skrull to buckle in pain from his illness again to ram him into the partially completed warp-gate, seemingly destroying the Super-Skrull. By this time the battle on the moon be-tween Raksor and Bel-Dann interrupted the wedding of the Inhumans Black Bolt and Medusa. The Inhuman royal family and the Fantastic Four then attempted to stop the hostilities between the two. However learning from the Watch-er why the two aliens were fighting the Earthlings attack the two combatants and forced them to work together. With the Earth heroes pretending to be slain, the Watcher declared the battle won, telling the Skrull and Kree that the outcome was that both races need to strive together and they were then teleported away.

At this time General Kalamari of the Skrull high command decided to focus his efforts on destroying the Fantastic Four by placing an impostor into their midst. With the cost of creating a new Super-Skrull to imitate one of the Four, Paibok suggested that they instead have a Skrull replace one of their closest allies. They selected Alicia Masters a blind woman who was close friends of the Fantastic Four and at the time was dating the Thing. Pai-bok selected a female Skrull named Lyja as his candidate and she spent months studying to be the perfect imitation of Masters. They then kidnapped the real Alicia and Lyja then took her place. How-ever the plans had to change as the kidnapping of Alicia coincided with the male members of the group being abducted by the omniscient being known as the Beyonder to fight in the so-called Secret Wars. When they returned to Earth, the Thing stayed behind on Battleworld as he could revert back to human form and he was re-placed by the She-Hulk. Lyja in-stead changed her focus from the Thing to his partner the Human Torch and spent the ensuing months romancing him. Mean-while the Super-Skrull was pulled out of his exile in the Van Allen radiation belt by Master Khan who was plotting against his old foe Iron Fist. Khan cured the Super-Skrull of his Leukemia and then had him transform into a young boy whom he dubbed Bobby Wright, Khan imprinted false memories into the Super-Skrull of Bobby Wright that were so thorough it could fool his old foe. For months, Super-Skrull posed as a young orphan who believed he gained super-powers (and the ability to transform into an adult version of himself dubbed Captain Hero). Bobby and his alter-ego of Captain Hero became integral in the lives of Iron Fist and his partner Luke Cage.

In the Andromeda Galaxy, Nebula began acting on the behalf of Governor Gorath in demanding that General Zedrao commit his military fleet to his cause. When Zedrao refused, she sent her minion Captain Marvel to spy on the base, unaware that she was a member of the Avengers. Nebula then used her ship the Sanctuary II to blow up the Skrull base, but Marvel helped the Skrulls escape and alerted her comrades the Avengers who came to assist along with the former herald of Galactus known as Firelord. While they mobilized to deal with Nebula and her forces, the notorious space pirate slew Gorath in her bid to take over the Andromeda galaxy herself. With the aid of the Avengers the Skrulls fought Nebula's forces, but the battle was not truly won when the Beyonder arrived seeking to join the Avengers to learn how to be a hero. In the heat of the battle, he teleported Nebula and her minions away, suddenly ending the fight. At this time the prison planet Klarr were attacked Raksor who freed the long imprisoned Prince Dezan. They then got passage to the Power Asteroid where the Zybek and Myrn were working on the Hyperwave Bomb. They travelled aboard Kral IV's "Big Casino" starship which was fashioned after a 1930s era Zeppelin and piloted by a Skrull calling himself Floyd Donahue. Along the way they intercepted the Avengers who had pledged to assist General Zedrao in capturing Nebula and sought the Power Asteroid's equipment to try and track her. At that same time a female Skrull governess sought to secure herself as the empress of the Skrull Empire by destroying the Fantastic Four. To this end, she had one of her minions disguise himself as the Elan creature known as the Infant Terrible to lure the Fantastic Four to the Skrull world under the false pretense that Elan had been decimated by the Skrull. Reed Richards saw through this plot and defeated the Skrull governess on her homeworld and took them prisoner. Reed and the Fantastic Four then brought their prisoners to the Power Asteroid to dis-pose of.

Meanwhile, Zabyk completed the Hyperwave Bomb just as the Avengers were attacking his for-tress. Revealing that the Hyper-wave Bomb would erase the Skrulls shape-shifting ability, trap-ping them in whatever form they were stuck in. Zabyk then slew Myrn and sealed him in what he believed would shield him from the effects of the bomb, which he be-lieved would make him the new ruler of the Skrulls. Despite their efforts, the Avengers and the Fan-tastic Four were unable to stop Zabyk from unleashing the Hyper-wave Bomb. The weapon froze all the Skrulls in whatever form they were in at the moment the bomb went off. Many Skrulls who were on espionage missions found themselves trapped in those forms. These included Al'Arok a spy on Zenn-La; Aptak a male Skrull who was spying on the Waziliah in fe-male form; Nenora who posed as a Kree and was infiltrating her way into the Kree Science Council; A Skrull posing as the Elder of the Universe known as the Contempla-tor; Bartak the Skrull who was pos-ing as the Silver Surfer. Incidental-ly, the Super-Skrull, who was still under the guise of Bobby Wright, was still able to change from the child form of Bobby Wright and the adult Captain Hero, likely due to the influence of Khan's magic. Fol-lowing the incident with the Hyper-wave Bomb, General Zedrao and his soldiers then destroyed the Sanctuary II before thanking the Avengers for their help and send-ing them on their way. It was then greatly accepted by the Skrull Em-pire as a whole to try to keep the loss of their shape changing pow-ers a secret otherwise it may pro-vide their many enemies with an advantage.

On Earth's Master Khan's manipu-lation reach fruition. "Bobby Wright" was diagnosed with an illness, that when it came to fruition, as Captain Hero -- insane from the pain rack-ing his body -- beat Iron Fist to death before he seemingly disin-tegrated. Not only the Super-Skrull's involvement a mystery, but also the fact that Iron Fist had se-cretly been replaced by an H'ylthri impostor. The Super Skrull was not dead, but returned to the hyper-space prison where Khan had pulled him.

In order to keep the loss of their shape-shifting abilities a secret, the Skrulls entered into an alliance with the Elders of the Universe for protection. This however was to benefit the Elders as they were also seeking to destroy Galactus and create a new Big Bang in which the Elders would be the new Galacti of the universe that formed. Unknown to the Elders, their ranks were infiltrated by the Skrull posing as the Contemplator. The Elders convinced the Skrulls to capture Galactus' new herald Nova to force Galactus to destroy Kree worlds only. They then sent the Champion to slay the Silver Surfer on Earth. The Surfer defeated the Champion and learned of Nova's capture. Freeing himself from the barrier that had kept him on Earth for years, the Surfer made a deal to rescue Nova in return for Galactus allowing the Surfer to remain free. The Skrulls prison was no match to keep the Silver Surfer from rescu-ing Nova and returning her to Galactus.

The Skrulls then Ptakr as an emis-sary to petition Shalla-Bal the ruler of Zenn-La to join the Skrull in their war against the Kree. Shalla-Bal refused to side with the Skrulls, deciding to remain neutral and warned them against attacking her as her planet were now under the protection of the Silver Surfer. After a failed attempt to assassinate the Surfer, Ptakr and his entourage were ejected from Zenn-La. Not long after this the Silver Surfer and the Avengers were involved in a scheme by the Grandmaster to make all the Elders of the Universe immortal, bringing them a step closer to succeeding in their mach-inations. While the Elders once again sought to destroy the Surfer, Ptakr's crew was attacked by Kree soldiers, but the Skrulls committed suicide before they could be boarded and the secret of their lost shape-shifting abilities could be discovered. Following their bid for immortality, the Elders met with the fake Contemplator among their numbers. The meeting was inter-rupted by the Silver Surfer and his new ally Mantis who managed to escape destruction. Meanwhile, the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree correctly deduced that the Skrulls lost their shape-shifting abilities. This also coincided with the arrival of the Celestial known as Jemiah the Analyser landed on the Skrull world that was under the rule of Kylor. Kylor ordered Jemiah de-stroyed, but none of the Skrull weapons were powerful enough to destroy the Celestial. Meanwhile, a Kree spy was sent to confirm the Supreme Intelligence's suspicions, but despite his efforts to disguise himself he was discovered and captured by Skrull authorities.

By this time the Skrull spy Nenora had become a member of the Kree Science Council, who were second to only the Supreme Intelligence. When the Intelligence ordered an attack on a Skrull armada that was passing the Kree world Sandomar II. However the attack was a failure as Nenora alerted Kylor and the Skrull armada withdrew. This how-ever tipped off the Supreme Intelli-gence to the fact that there was a spy in his midst, but Nenora's cover was so deep that the Supreme Intelligence was led to believe his aid Nullet was the Skrull spy. Ky-lor's renewed aggression toward the Kree started a feud between himself and another would-be Skrull emperor Yorak. At this time, the Elders of the Universe came to believe that the six Soul Gems had the power needed to destroy Galactus and create a new big bang. Having collected five of the six, they sent the Skrull imperson-ating the Contemplator to the Kree homeworld where the sixth was under the control of the Supreme Intelligence. The Contemplator was denied the Soul Gem, as Su-premor required it to maintain his sanity caused by the racial conflict between the pink and blue skinned Kree minds that made up the part of his collective intelligence. When the Silver Surfer came to warn the Supreme Intelligence to stay away from Zenn-La, the Intelligence used the Soul Gem to trap the Surfer inside the Intelligence. However the Surfer broke free and absconded with the Soul Gem, leaving Supremor insane. The El-ders then kidnapped Mantis and Shalla-Bal in order to force the Silver Surfer to turn over the Soul Gem. The Surfer agreed, and the Elders then tried to use them to destroy Galactus, but this plan was thwarted by the Surfer and Nova when Nova destroyed the star which the planets the Elders were using in conjunction with the gems to destroy the world devourer. The resulting blackhole swallowed the Soul Gems, as well as the Trader, Possessor and the Astronomer, while the Grandmaster, Gardener, Collector, Champion and Runner were consumed by Galactus, the phony Contemplator escaped and Galactus ordered the Surfer and Nova to apprehend him. While on the planet Hala, Nenora had be-come the Supreme Leader of the Kree. She then decided to take her ambitions beyond the Skrull em-pires age old war, and slew her former lover Apatk who came to Hala posing as a Wazilian ambas-sador.

Meanwhile on Earth, a group of Skrull Slavers disguised them-selves as a Kentucky fair in order to collect slaves. Their activities coincided with the arrival of Can-nonball, Wolfsbane, Richtor and Boom Boom of the New Mutants who were visiting Cannonball's family at the time. When they visit-ed the carnival, the Skrulls at-tempted to make them slaves as well, but the Skrulls proved no match for the young mutants and were forced to flee into space.

While back out in space, the Silver Surfer and Nova with information from Nenora, tracked the Skrull impersonating the Contemplator in the Coal Sack Nebula the home of the real Contemplator. There the fake gained the protection of the space pirate Cap'n Reptyl who briefly managed to capture the Surfer and Nova. During this peri-od he contemplated the Elder known as the Obliterator renewing his sense of purpose after a defeat at the hands of the Surfer. Mean-while, under orders from governor Karza, Bartak the Skrull posing as the Silver Surfer began attacking Kree outposts to taint the Surfer's reputation. When the Surfer and Nova broke free, Reptyl and his minions retreated back into the Coal Sack. Angered over this de-feat, Retyl then seemingly slew the fake Contemplator, consuming his body and leaving his severed head in space to be found by the Surfer and Nova. As Bartak planned, the Kree blamed the real Surfer for the attacks and Ronan the Accuser was sent to eliminate him, but the Surfer bested him in combat. Meanwhile, Nanora now deciding to rule over the Kree Empire, led Kylor and his armada into a Kree trap, leading to their death. With Kylor's death governess S'Byll de-cided to make her move to be-come the next Skrull empress and ordered one of her minions to Earth. The Silver Surfer and Nova meanwhile were attacked by Bar-tak, who defeated the Surfer in combat and trapped Nova. But before he could get away to cause more chaos, he was slain by Ro-nan the Accuser who upgraded his weapons to be more than a match for the real Surfer. This was appar-ently Karza's onyl attempts to vie for leadership of the empire as he was never seen or heard from again. Meanwhile, S'Byll's minion arrived on Earth and fired a device into the air before being felled by a pair of hunters.

This blast reconstituted the Super-Skrull who had no memory of his experience as "Bobby Wright" and was led to believe that Skrull sci-ence cured him of his cancer as well as freed him. His return coin-cided with the arrival of the Silver Surfer to Earth. The two battled but were captured by the Eternals who sought to map the DNA of the Sil-ver Surfer and the Super-Skrull on behalf of the High Evolutionary. Unwilling to let the Eternals force their own ends, the Surfer and the Super-Skrull worked together to free themselves. The Surfer, telling the Super-Skrull what happened and that because he was the only Skrull left who could shape-shift, convinced him to return to his em-pire to try and restore to the glory it once was in the hopes this would end the current Kree-Skrull war.

The Skrull posing as the Contem-plator survived his previous en-counter and managed to relocate his severed head to a moon near-by the Coalsack Nebula and awaited Cap'n Reptyl and his crew to land there. Reptyl left his oafish subordinate Clumsy Foulup in charge, and the faux-Contemplator slowly began mentally manipulat-ing him for his own ends. While Nenora continued to intensify her assaults on the Skrulls, but they were soon reunited with the Super-Skrull who had aligned himself with S'Byll and her faction of Skrulls. Meanwhile, Nanora went to Zenn-La to offer her apologies to the Silver Surfer for her empire attacking him previously when Bar-tak framed him. This visit prompted to Cotati, who had been using their connection to all plants to start hint-ing to Empress Shalla Bal that Ne-nora was really a Skrull. Unfortu-nately for Shalla Bal, Nenora's visit was also to secretly plant listening devices in her home and place a Kree Sentry to capture her if need be.

By this time the Kree Empire formed an alliance with the Ba-doon, causing massive casualties for the Skrulls. S'Byll and the Su-per-Skrull then tricked the Silver Surfer into defending the Skrull armada from the Badoon, forcing him to ally himself with the Skrulls in order to defend Zenn-La after the attack would be viewed by the Kree as the end of his neutrality in the war. The Skrulls came to the Silver Surfer's aid in fighting off a Kree invasion fleet that was poised to attack Zenn-La. Arriving on the planet's surface, Shalla Bal also accepted the alliance and S'Byll and the Super-Skrull revealed the reason for the entire deception: Duplicating the machine the Eter-nals used on the Super-Skrull and Silver Surfer, they devised a way to reawaken the shape-changing ability in S'Byll and give the ability to restore that power to the entire empire. The Surfer and the Skrull then pooled their powers to power the device, not only restoring S'Byll's shape shifting abilities but enhancing them to cosmic levels. She then joined the Surfer and Super-Skrull in driving the remain-ing Kree ships from Zenn-Lavian space. Nenora then led an entire invasion fleet to attack Zenn-La again, forcing the trio to fight a los-ing battle. That is until the Silver Surfer managed to broker a deal with Nenora: He would leave Zenn-La forever if she agreed to stop attacking his homeworld, and she agreed pulling her forces back. This coincided with the Contempla-tor impostor moving ahead his plans, manipulating Clumsy Foulup into contacting the Kree and offering them the means of defeating the Skrulls.

Returning to her homeworld of Satriani with the Surfer and Super-Skrull. There she began using her newfound powers to restore the shape shifting abilities of the Skrulls that resided there. This drew the enigmatic Stranger who came to apparently capture S'Byll. However the Stranger returned her when Cap'n Reptyl came to offer his alliance to the Skrulls and of-fered the Stranger the mutants aboard his crew. Reptyl's addition to the Skrull forces was not without turbulence, when Reptyl started paying too much attention to S'Byll, the jealous Super-Skrull attacked him but was seemingly slain when Reptyl ripped out his throat. The Super-Skrull survived however, his body recovered by the Badoon who attempted to experiment on him. Fully healed, K'lrt broke free from his captors and escaped. This was all part of a ruse on the part of S'Byll, orchestrated with the in-tended purpose of making the en-emies of the Skrulls believe that the real Super-Skrull was dead and that when the K'lrt returned they would be led to believe he was merely an impostor. At some point during the conflict, S'Byll's uncle dubbed Talos the Untamed due to the fact that he has superior strength although being born with-out a shape-shifting ability was defeated and captured by a Kree war party earning him shame among the empire.

Meanwhile on Zenn-La, Shalla Bal deduced the secret of Nenora, but her Kree Sentry capture Shalla before she could tell anyone. And on Hala, Clumsy Foulup set the beginnings of a trap for Cap'n Rep-tyl distracting the Kree enough for the astral form of the "Contempla-tor" to gain access to the chamber of Supremor. With Shalla Bal pris-oner, Nenora had the human named Midnight augmented into a cyborg and launched another at-tack against the Skrulls. Meanwhile the "Contemplator" began manipu-lating the pink skinned Kree to fur-ther his goals of taking over the Kree Empire. In Skrull space, while the Silver Surfer was detracted fighting Midnight, Clumsy Foulup -- who had been made Reptyl's sec-ond in command after being smuggled back to the moon where he was left prior to his betrayal -- seemingly slew Reptyl and made his escape back to the Kree. With the seeming death of Reptyl, the Skrull armada was decimated by the Kree, leaving only S'Byll and the Surfer the sole survivors. They fought their way to Hala where they gained entrance into the Kree pal-ace thanks to Shalla Bal who was freed by the influence of the Cotati. As Clumsy Foulup was being thanked as a war hero by the Kree, they stormed Nenora's throne room. There, under the witness of the Stranger, S'Byll used her pow-ers to restore Nenora's shape shift-ing ability to slew her. S'Byll then revealed the truth to the Kree and brokered a truce, failing to con-vince the Kree to declare peace. After she was taken back to her homeworld by the Silver Surfer, the "Contemplator" attempted to put his plan into fruition: With Foulup seen as a hero, especially to the pink skinned Kree, the "Contem-plator" would then pose as a "re-stored" Supreme Intelligence" and have Foulup back him, making the "Contemplator" the secret ruler of the Kree empire. However, Foulup ended up betraying the fake when the Cotati offered Foulup to be the actual ruler of the Kree. When the "Contemplator" attempted to pull his ruse, the Cotati overpowered him with their superior telepathic abilities, obliterating his mind and making it seem like the Supreme Intelligence endorsed Clumsy Foulup's ascension to leadership.

In an unrelated note, a Skrull was prisoner of Captain Orack's slave ship. He was freed by the alien Beta Ray Bill. A Skrull by the name of Kholdsor, trapped in human form due to the Hyper-Wave Bomb, and not yet restored by Em-press S'Byll attempted to obtain a copy of Rick Jones' book "Sidekick" in the hopes of learning the secrets of how Rick used the Destiny Force to win the Kree/Skrull War, this mission was a failure.

Following the end of the most re-cent Kree/Skrull War, S'Byll was named the new Skrull empress and she ruled from planet Satriani, slowly restoring the Skrulls natural ability to change shape. Her world was briefly invaded by the Impos-sible Man and his family who made a stop of Satriani from a vacation on Earth to show the Skrulls their vacation slides, much to S'Byll's irritation. Not long after this the Super-Skrull returned to Satriani to a hero’s welcome, but was unhappy with the deception as it worked against his honor. How-ever seeking religious guidance from a statue of Sl'gurt. Finding resolve, the Super-Skrull then tracked down Cap'n Reptyle and seemingly slew him. Returning to S'Byll to inform her of what he did, he was stripped of his rank and told to serve under Commander K'Targh's imperial starfleet until further notice. The Super-Skrull however sought to win back the adoration of his leader and so he and a team of Skrulls then returned to Earth in order to capture Rick Jones and harness the Destiny Force as a weapon for the Skrulls. Learning that Rick was currently on a book tour for his new book "Side-kick" they took over the town of Buckport, Utah, and invited him to a phony book signing. They then kidnapped him and tried to torture him into subservience. This failed, and when Rick's allies the Hulk and Betty Ross came to his aid, a battle broke up. Ultimately the Skrull team -- including Super-Skrull -- were seemingly slain when the energy core of their ship destabi-lized and exploded.

Despite S'Byll's rule over the Skrull Empire there were those who sought to remove her from rule. A rogue Skrull (possibly a rare mu-tant Skrull)[citation needed] named De'Lila attempted to obtain a Skrull Inorganic Technotroid egg to use against the empress however it ended up crashing on Earth. Fol-lowing it there, De'Lila subdued the Fantastic Four in hopes of using Reed Richard's technology to lo-cate it. However she was followed to Earth by Skrull warriors who took control of the Mole Man's monsters on Monster Island and used them to search for her, angering the Mole Man for this trespass. Seek-ing to waylay these monsters from finding her, De'Lila used her tele-pathic abilities and shape-shifting power to resemble the Invisible Woman to trick Spider-Man, Wol-verine, the Hulk, and Ghost Rider into thinking the Fantastic Four were dead and to help her. This New Fantastic Four were sent out to stop the Skrulls. Unable to locate the Technotroid on her own, De'Lila used blackmail and her powers to coerce Reed Richards into helping her, successfully track-ing it to Monster Island. However this also brought them before the other Skrulls, Mole Man and his Moloid army, and the New Fantas-tic Four, who had formed an un-easy alliance after piecing together De'Lila's deceptions. Learning what De'Lila was after it was a race to see who got to the Technotroid before it hatched as the creature was made to biologically imprint itself to whomever it first saw. A pitched battle between all three parties erupted over the creatures until the original Fantastic Four arrived to stop De'Lila. In the end, the Technotroid imprinted itself to one of Mole Man's creatures who took it as a child. De'Lila fell victim to the Ghost Rider's Penance Stare and was driven made and turned over to the Skrulls. Returning to the surface the Skrulls and the two Fantastic Four groups were at-tacked by the Mole Man now that they were out of his domain, how-ever Spider-Man convinced the Mole Man of the futility of their con-tinued battle and the Skrulls were allowed to take De'Lila back to the Skrull homeworld for punishment.

Also on Earth, the Super-Skrull survived his encounter with the Hulk and apparently remembering his time as Bobby Wright sought out a new plan to destroy the Earth. At the time Daniel Rand, the hero known as Iron Fist was still be-lieved to be dead. He sought out Ward Mechum the part controller of Rand-Meanchum the organization that both men owned. He offered Meachum the hand of the most beautiful woman in the universe and a world to rule if he assisted in drilling into using the Nuwali de-vices in the Savage Land to de-stroy the Earth. Meachum agreed in return for the taste of power and a beautiful woman. The Super-Skrull then used his hypnotic pow-ers to make Ward's niece Joy fol-low their cause. Disguising himself as Daniel Rand, the Super-Skrull convinced the world that Rand was still alive. "Iron Fist's" resurrection brought the suspicions of his for-mer lover Misty Knight who con-fronted the phony Daniel Rand to learn the truth, but the Super-Skrull researched his role well and thor-ough convinced her of Rand's ap-parent "resurrection".

Around this time the Warskrulls program had made many ad-vancements, allowing Skrulls to copy the shapes, powers, memo-ries and personalities of templates that were caught in their Nexus Amplifier devices. To this end they captured the Starjammers and impersonated their members as well as Charles Xavier, former teacher of the X-Men who was travelling with them at the time. Using Xavier's powers they also took telepathic control of disposed Shi'ar empress Lilandra in a bid to take over the Shi'ar throne from her sister Deathbird. They began a campaign of genocide across the Shi'ar galaxy, wiping out many races such as the P!ndyr of Epsilon Seikosha II. Blaming these atroci-ties on Deathbird, they managed to remove her from the throne and place Lilandra back in her rightful title, all be it a puppet ruler for the Warskrull agenda. This forced Deathbird and teleporter Lila Cheney to seek out the X-Men's aid in freeing the empire. The X-Men initially did not believe Deathbird due to the fact that she did not know the full scope of the Skrull incursion and they sided with "Pro-fessor Xavier" and the "Starjam-mers" in apprehending Deathbird. As key members of the X-Men were slowly being replaced by Warskrulls, the X-Men Gambit and Jubilee stumbled upon part of the truth. Jubilee was captured but Gambit managed to escape. The X-Men arrived on the scene, una-ware that their teammate Psylock was replaced as well. However Wolverine detected the truth and slew the Warskrull posing as Xavi-er. The Skrull posing as Psylock knocked out Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men were teleported away by Lila Cheney and Deathbird to Epsilon Seikosha II. A Warskrull named Prime took the place of Xavier and Wolverine and Jubilee were templated as well. Meanwhile the Warskrulls posing as the Star-jammers were sent after the X-Men.. The X-Men learned the truth and defeated the Starjammer im-postors and returned to the Shi'ar homeworld. During the ensuing battle the real Charles Xavier freed himself and took down the Warskrulls with his telepathic pow-ers. With the primary Warskrulls defeated the X-Men left the Shi'ar galaxy, leaving Lilandra and her Imperial Guard to weed out any other Warskrulls that might be op-erating in the area.

When the recently revived Thanos gathered the six Infinity Gems he combined their power into the In-finity Gauntlet and used it to wipe out half the universe as a gift to his lover Death. This included half of the Skrull Empire. Unaware of Thanos' involvement, S'Byll sus-pected that the Kree were involved and called her people to prepare to go to war again. However it ap-pears that this conflict did not hap-pen as a gathering of surviving heroes eventually defeated Thanos and restored the universe to normal.

Around this time on Earth, the Su-per-Skrull and Ward Meachum were bringing their plans to fruition, meeting with Ka-Zar the ruler of the Savage Land and getting his per-mission to "mine" in the area. However these activities brought Namor the Sub-Mariner and his niece Namorita to the Savage Land to investigate. Super-Skrull, disguised as Iron Fist easily cap-tured Namor and his allies Namori-ta, Phoebe Mars, and Carrie Alex-ander, with the help of Misty Knight who believed that "Rand" was real-ly her former lover. Ka-Zar's wife Shanna the She-Devil rescued Namor and his captives and they launched a counter attack forcing the Super-Skrull to reveal himself. As the Super-Skrull battled Namor, his allies convinced Ward to be-lieve was being betrayed when they had him consider what the "most beautiful woman in the uni-verse" would be interpreted by a Skrull. Meachum then tried to smash the machine but the Super-Skrull burned him alive. However this did not stop Namor from smashing the device and saving the Earth, forcing the Super-Skrull to flee. Not long after the departure of the Super-Skrull another Skrull calling himself Samuel J. Skrull was sent to Earth as part of yet another invasion. His ship crashed in the Savage Land and he was worshipped as a god by the na-tives. When the Impossible Man and his Impossible Family came back to Earth to search for one of their missing children, they en-countered Samuel who had since grown to find the life of a god bor-ing and agreed to become part of the Impossible Family and took on the form of one of their children. He eventually returned with them to planet Poppup when they found their wayward child.

Meanwhile, the Lyja, the Skrull spy posing as Alicia Masters for months was uncovered thanks to the machinations of the Mad Thinker who deduced this situation and orchestrated a situation where Reed needed to do brain scans of those living in their headquarters the Four Freedoms Plaza. When Lyja was revealed as a Skrull she revealed how she infiltrated the group but also admitted that she fell in love with the Human Torch in the process and was pregnant with his baby. The group then went out into space with Lyja to rescue the real Alicia from the Skrull Empire. They clashed with Paibok who had used Skrull science to gain super-human abilities. Ultimately, the Fantastic Four managed to rescue the real Alicia. During the conflict Lyja seemingly sacrificed her life to save Johnny from danger and the Four left her body behind as Skull outpost exploded. However, Pablok managed to escape in a life support vessel with the injured Lyja kept in stasis until he could get help.

Also around this time the Skrulls enemies the Kree and the Shi'ar were involved in a galactic conflict that was later dubbed Operation: Galactic Storm, a conflict that also drew in the Avengers as the war also threatened Earth. Seeing this as an opportunity, the Skrulls be-gan covert operations to escalate the conflict between the two sides. On the Shi'ar side, a Skrull posed as Empress Lilandra's advisor Ara-ki, to encourage her to increase hostilities. Another group of Skrulls then attacked a Shi'ar world in a Kree ship incurring the wraith of Gladiator who fought the Avengers, thinking them allied with the Kree. The Skrull pilots committed suicide before the Shi'ar could find out but Avengers Captain Marvel and Liv-ing Lightning discovered the truth before their ship was detonated. The conflict escalated to the point where Lilandra sent a Nega-Bomb ship toward the Kree galaxy una-ware that a Skrull flagship was heading to intercept it. When the Kree Starforce teleported to the Shi'ar throneworld and attacked the Imperial Guard and Avengers, the Skrull posing as Araki attempted to assassinate Lilandra, but could not get the chance to do so. However the attack did prompt Lilandra to order the arming of the Nega-Bomb.

The Skrull posing as Araki then inflamed tensions between the Avengers and the Imperial Guard, and manipulating Lilanra into con-tinuing hostilities toward the Kree. However a blast from the Living Lighting knocked "Araki" out, caus-ing him to revert back to his Skrull form. Realizing that she had been manipulated into war by the Skrulls, Lilandra ordered a halt to the Nega-Bomb's transport be-tween warpgates but by then it was already too late: the Skrulls had captured the Nega-Bomb with the Vision and Wonder Man trapped on board. Passing through the Shi'ar warpgate, the Skrulls with the Nega-Bomb were impeded by Quasar, Her, and Binary but they were forced to allow the Skrulls advance when it was learned that the Nega-Bomb's proximity to Earth's sun was threatening to de-stroy it. The Skrulls were opposed by Wonder Man and the Vision and while they succeeded in setting off the bomb, they were only able to do so in the outer fringes of the Kree galaxy. Although they failed in wiping out all the Kree, they slaughtered billions sending their age old enemies into utter chaos.

Eventually, Paibok's ship was res-cued by Devos the Destroyer a being who sought galactic peace by destroying violent beings, even wiping out entire races. Paibok managed to convince Devos from trying to slay the Skrull Empire by focusing on their mutual hatred of the Fantastic Four. Soon Paibok and Devos became close allies, working to empower Lyja with the ability to shoot lasers from her fists while on their way to Earth. They soon arrived on Earth just as Lyja was restored to full health.

Elsewhere in the universe another group of Skrulls were en route to wipe out the planet Dandesh in the Coalsack Nebula where the Xar-tans aka the Carbon-Copy Men, who had similar shape shifting powers due to the fact that the Skrulls found them inferior to themselves. The Xartans however tried to disguise themselves as the nearly extinct D'bari race to try and confuse there would be attackers. Along their way to Dandesh they encounter the She-Hulk and her allies Weezie and US Archer on their quest to that same region to save their friends Razorback and Taryn O'Connell from the "D'bari". The Skrull commander agreed to help them due to the She-Hulk's slight resemblance to a Skrull. Ul-timately She-Hulk and her com-rades rescued their friends and escaped while a D'bari petrification ray went off turning all the Xartans and Skrulls into stone.

Meanwhile back on Earth, the Skrulls continued their plans for infiltration they began tracking the West Coast Avenger known as Mockingbird, and during the West Coast Avenger's battle with Ultron Mockingbird was replaced with a Skrull impostor who then infiltrated the group. Mockingbird woke up on a Skrull world and found herself in a Skrull simulation of her life at the West Coast Avengers compound. But she soon saw through the ruse and broke free and escaped. She was pursued by a Skrull posing as her husband Hawkeye for years while she used her skills as a spy to survive. While on the East Coast of Earth, having convinced Lyja that the Human Torch abandoned her and left her to die, the trio at-tacked Johnny at Empire State University. The shock of seeing his wife alive and well and a relentless assault forced Johnny to unleash a nova blast that forced his enemies to flee, but lit Empire State Univer-sity on fire. Wanted by the police, the Human Torch surrendered to the authorities, but Lyja and Paibok attacked the Torch at the court house, using their shapeshifting powers to make it seem the Torch had went berserk and forcing Johnny to flee from the law. John-ny became a hunted fugitive and when he and the Fantastic Four clashed with the Secret Defenders, Lyja couldn't bring herself to hate her former husband anymore and abandoned Paibok and Devos to help him. Undaunted, Paibok and Devos next targeted Johnny Storm during his court trail over the fire at Empire State University, during the battle they joined forces with Klaw and Huntara who also sought to battle the Fantastic Four. However the villains were thwarted by the Four with the help of their allies Spider-Man, Daredevil, Sandman and Silver Sable.

Also during this period, the Skrull who posed as the Contemplator resurfaced. Continuing his charade he joined Elders the Possessor, Obliterator, Judicator, Explorer, and Caregiver to investigate the strange embryonic space creature known as Origin. Their examina-tion was interrupted by Quasar and his ally Thunderstrike, who had come to recover Quasar's missing Quantum Bands. The "Contempla-tor" grabbed one of the bands be-fore Quasar could put it on, but Quasar managed to recover it by overloading the band blowing off the "Contemplator's" hand. Sharing his knowledge that he the "Con-templator" was an impostor, the Judicator used his powers to revert the impostor back to his Skrull form. Furious at this deception the Elders grabbed a Skrull and tele-ported away so that the impostor could face judgement. His subse-quent fate is unknown. The Skrull Empire was soon adversely effect-ed by the so-called Infinity Cru-sade, when Adam Warlock's as-pect of goodness, the Goddess was attempting to create universal peace. By this time the Skrull Em-pire was lock in a battle with the Shi'ar, but the Goddess's influence caused both sides to cease fighting and depart. Seeing what happened to his people and learning of the Goddess's involvement the Super-Skrull, seemingly unaffected, flew into space to hunt her down. Sens-ing the Super-Skrull's approach Goddess's assistant Moondragon dispatched Thor to battle the Su-per-Skrull, who was easily defeat-ed. However the Skrulls eventually returned to their hostile ways after the defeat of the Goddess at the hands of Adam Warlock, Thanos and Charles Xavier. Shortly after this the Silver Surfer encountered a Skrull bounty hunter named Raze who was seeking revenge against his brother Vranz.

Back on Earth, Paibok and his min-ions had regrouped, and attacked the Fantastic Four during a period in which they believed their leader Reed Richards was dead. Paibok and Devos captured the Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch and Lyja and brought them back to the Skrull homeworld where they were taken prisoner. However matters were complicated when Devos decided that was the time to lay waste to the Skrull Empire and ordered his ship to destroy the Skull throneworld. During the cha-os, the surviving members of the FF broke free and recovered a vial of Lacaroo, a medicine to help with Lyja's now complicated pregnancy and fled the Skrull homeworld. Meanwhile, branded a traitor by Sy'Bll, Paibok attempted to make amends by seemingly sacrificing his life to stop Devos's ship but hurtling it into sub-space. Around this time, while on a mission with the West Coast Avengers, the Skrull posing as Mockingbird was killed battling Mephisto, Satannish and the Lethal Legion. While in space, a Skrull known as Muraitak was a member of the Centurian Nova Corps. He was once ordered to bring Nova back to planet Xan-dar to battle the Lumphomoid known as Kraa. After Nova helped defeat Kraa, Muraitak allowed No-va to go free. Elsewhere on Earth, thanks to the impulsiveness of the Impossible Man, invitations for the wedding of Rick Jones and Marlo Chandler in Las Vegas were is-sued to many of the Hulk and Rick's enemies including a delega-tion of the Kree and Skrulls. De-spite some initial tension between the two delegations, Jones man-aged to convince them to sit on either sides of the wedding. Inci-dentally there was not a conflict between the two. Among the Skrull party was Talos who drunkenly attempted to commit suicide to the cheers and adorations of his fellow Skrulls. The Hulk clashed with him, but realizing that Talos needed to restore his honor, the Hulk threw the fight making Talos a hero among his people again and re-storing his will to live.

The Super-Skrull once again tried to attack the Silver Surfer no longer after this, against the orders of Empress S'Byll and was soundly defeated once more. S'Byll has not been seen commanding the Skrulls since, her subsequent fate is unknown.

Following the fall of the Kree Em-pire, a group of Kree terrorists call-ing themselves Starstealth began raising havoc across the universe, including the planet Earth. A group of Starstealth terrorists were ap-prehended by the new group called Force Works and impris-oned in the Vault. Part of the Skrull military became part of a war crimes tribunal against Starstrealth. Under the command of Major Hokk Algol they brokered an extradition tour with the Avengers. However their arrival coincided with mem-bers of Starstealth breaking out of prison with the assistance of Re-corder RE-404. The combined might of the Avengers, Force Works and the Skrull soldiers saw the escapees recaptured and ex-tradited into space. Other Skrulls active in the universe included Kerth a slave of the Broker, and Morfex of the Cosmic Comman-dos.

Around this time the Skrulls who had been turned into cows were sent off to slaughter by the United States government and the ground beef ended up in the food supply. Those who consumed the Skrull tainted beef became infected with a virus that was slowly killing them but endowed them with shape shifting powers even more ad-vanced than the Skrulls them-selves. Those infected were also capable of seeing Skrulls in their true forms no matter what shape they took. One person who con-sumed the tainted beef was ap-parently man known only as Ryder. His past is mostly a memory but Ryder has an unabashed hatred of Skrulls. Upon learning that others were infected by the tainted beef, he began going across the country killing Skrulls that he crossed paths with and recruited Skrull-meat in-fected individuals into his Skrull Kill Krew. Recruits included the English white supremacist known as Moonstomp, as California surfer Dice, New York punk rocker Riot, and super-model Catwalk. The group discovered that Skrulls had infiltrated many places in society, and slew a Skrull who posted as Dice's girlfriend, Skrulls hiding within a New York night club and among the New York Police de-partment. Later the group got in-volved in freeing hostages from a plane hijacked by Hydra that con-tained Slovenian president Wassily Kurov. Ryder discovered Kurov was a Skrull but before he could slay him, he was stopped by Cap-tain America. After slaying Skrulls posing as the Fantastic Four the Skrull Kill Krew discovered that the town of Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin was completely taken over by Skrull spies and wiped out the en-tire population of the town. Floyd Donahue resurfaced shortly after this, offering to hire the Silver Surf-er but was denied when the Surfer decided to travel back to Earth in-stead. A short time later in deep space, a group of Skrulls attempt-ed to obtain a millennia old comet that was returning to from the outer reaches of the universe, which was reported to have technology of monumental power. The Skrull fleet was wiped out by the bounty hunter White Raven who was seek-ing the comet for her employer Thanos. However her plans to ob-tain the comet were thwarted by the Silver Surfer. At some point Paibok resurfaced and allied him-self with a number of Symbiotes battling both the Human Torch and Spider-Man.

On Earth a number of heroes, in-cluding the Fantastic Four and the Avengers were seemingly slain by the being known as Onslaught. Following the seeming death of her husband, Lyja assumed a hu-man identity and tried to forget about her past life. However the heroes endured in a pocket uni-verse on a world later dubbed Counter-Earth.

Eventually the heroes were re-turned to their proper world and resumed their activities. It was around this time that a Skrull named Sn'Tlo took control of a faction of Hydra, calling himself the Sensational Hydra. He then set about targeting Captain America by boosting his public image. To this end he orchestrated a number of victories for Cap such as a failed Hydra raid on the Smithsonian Institute, and a battle with his old foe Batroc the Leaper. Then when holding hostages at the top of the Empire State Building, Sn'Tlo and his minions captured Captain America at the height of his popu-larity and Sn'Tlo subdued him in Skrull bonds and then began pos-ing as Captain America himself. Sn'Tlo not only fooled the public, but also the Avengers with his ruse. Meanwhile, the real Captain Amer-ica broke free from his bonds but was too late to stop his Skrull im-postor from announcing to the country that one out of every twenty Americans is secretly a Skrull, causing massive riots as the Amer-ican people gave into xenophobia. Ultimately, Cap exposed the Skrull impostor and the civil unrest was soon ended.

Not long after this a Skrull agent named Mrok was heading toward Earth on an undisclosed mission when he crossed paths with the Mithras a cosmic entity that brought peace to all living things it passed at the expense of free will and was reduced to a mindless stat. Ulti-mately the Mithras was defeated by the Earth mercenary known as Deadpool and all those effected by the Mithras were restored to nor-mal. Another Skrull agent dis-guised himself as Chicago's Of-ficer Dragon in order to free Skrulls that were incarcerated on Earth. However this Skrull was exposed and apprehended by Nova.

One group of Skrulls soon came under the command of Intelligen-cia a cybernetic collective mind that was the Skrulls' answer to the Kree Supreme Intelligence. Among the Skrulls under her command was the Super-Skrull. Intelligencia soon detected a threat from the human known as Kelly Kooliq who had become a walking nexus to all reality and could alter it to her whims. Under orders to kill Kooliq, the Super-Skrull finds himself un-able to do so finding the task to be dishonorable leading to a clash with Captain Marvel, Moondragon and the Silver Surfer. After battle between these heroes, the Super-Skrull managed to abscond with Kelly and return her to Skrell, the Skrull outpost where Intelligencia was located. The three heroes tracked Kelly there and yet another battle broke out. Ultimately, Intelli-gencia decreed that so long as Kooliq continued to exist the uni-verse would be at risk. Captain Marvel's alter ego Rick Jones then convinced Kooliq to end the threat by travelling to a reality wherein she never obtained her powers. The Skrulls have not since been seen under the command of Intel-ligencia since, the subsequent fate of this construct is unrecorded.

Sometime later a group of Skrulls under the command of Granok came across the massive petrified form of the Living Monolith in space. Freeing the Monolith from his prison, the powerful mutate brought them to his leader Apoca-lypse who was at that time prepar-ing to gather the Twelve a group of mutants that were fabled to shape the face of mutant kind. The Skrulls joined along with his plan over their mutual ideals on genetic puri-ty and used this to further their studies on Skrull mutants. It was about this time that the X-Men's year’s long trip from the destruction of the Skrull homeworld brought them back to Earth at their appro-priate time. Their ship was jolted by electromagnetic burst that knocked the entire crew out. They then re-placed the X-Man Wolverine with a Skrull impostor who was virtually indistinguishable from the genuine article. The real Wolverine was then converted into Apocalypse's horseman Death. For a time this impostor Wolverine worked along-side the X-Men. However suspect-ing a traitor in their ranks, Charles Xavier disbanded the X-Men in an elaborate plan to ferret out the im-postor. At the same time, two Skrulls posing as the deceased Mastermind and presumed dead Mesmero began trying to obtain the diaries of the late precognitive mutant Destiny which contained information about the gathering of the Twelve, they also spied on magnetic mutant Polaris to try and steal the jewel that adorned the original costume of her then pre-sumed deceased boyfriend Havok. The two impostors failed to obtain the diary which was recovered by a team of X-Men who remained to-gether. Meanwhile, the Wolverine impostor was on a mission with another group of X-Men was ironi-cally slain by Death, leaving the X-Men shattered by the belief that their long time comrade was killed. Knowing that at least a single im-postor was exposed, Xavier called back his X-Men and with Phoenix administered a psychic test to de-termine that none of the other members of the team had been replaced, they then revealed that the Wolverine who fought and died beside them was really a Skrull impostor. During this revelation another Skrull attempted to replace Archangel but that attempt was also thwarted.

In Egypt, Garnok and his minions continued to experiment to make an even perfect Wolverine impos-tor to little effect, while Fiz one of the mutant Skrulls attempted to get his fellow outcasts to rebel against their masters, inspired by the leg-ends of how Xavier once tried to save their homeworld. The Skrulls then attempted to kidnap Polaris and recover the gem to Havok's costume. They succeed in captur-ing the gem, but thanks to a trick involving an image inducer, they really brought the X-Men's field leader Cyclops into their headquar-ters, luring the reset of the X-Men to their location. During the course of the battle, Death appeared and slew Garnok and the X-Men learned his true identity before the Skrulls escaped. The mutant Skrull Fiz managed to break out of his cell during the attack and followed the X-Men back to their base. There he appealed to them to help free his fellow mutants offering to bring them right to Apocalypse's base. When a squad of X-Men, including the uncaptured members of the Twelve arrived outside Apocalypse's base, the Skrulls, Apocalypse's minions and his Four Horsemen defended the base. Skrulls then posing as Pestilence, Famine, Astra, Joseph, Havok, Colossus, and Cannonball man-aged to capture Storm, Magneto, Bishop, Polaris, Cyclops, Phoenix, and Professor X, the last members of the Twelve that required captur-ing. The Skrulls kept the remaining X-Men at bay long enough for Apocalypse to drain the required energies to transfer his essence into a new body. While he intended to take the body of the X-Man, Cy-clops jumped in the way and Apocalypse took over his body instead

With his newfound power Apoca-lypse tried to replace the Earth-616 reality with those of Earth-23378, Earth-2203, Earth-2841, Earth-32000 and Earth-32098. Many of these realities also included the Skrulls and Apocalypse until ulti-mately the X-Men succeeded and restored reality back to normal. However Apocalypse, and pre-sumably his Skrull allies, escaped. With the Skrull mutants needed guidance and mentorship, Charles Xavier agreed to return to space with them to train them to be free-dom fighters for their own people, this group of mutant Skrull cham-pions became known as Cadre K named after the Skrull classifica-tion for their breeding class.

The Skrulls Empire soon became involved in the manipulation of the Supreme Intelligence once again. After obtaining the Forever Crystal he used it to hyper-evolve a num-ber of the Kree into an evolved state. Calling themselves the Ruul, these evolved Kree then posed as a new race offering advanced technology to other alien races to gain their trust, including the Skrulls. About this time Cadre K had become notorious among the Skrulls for liberating other mutant Skrulls and fighting against the empire. This prompted Ambassa-dor Kreddick the Skrull representa-tive of the Intergalactic Council to demand something be done about human interference in the affairs of the universe. After an attack by Ego the Living Planet was thwarted by Cadre K and the Silver Surfer, manipulations by the Ruul and insistence from the Skrull ambas-sador convinced the Intergalactic Council to turn the planet Earth into a prison planet, dumping interga-lactic criminals there as well as preventing the people from Earth from leaving and influencing the universe.

This put the heroes of Earth on the defensive while their planet was invaded by armies of alien crimi-nals. Cadre K, led by Xavier soon rescued Bishop from the clutches of Deathbird and sent him on to Earth to recover their missing member Z'cann. On Earth, Z'Cann attempted to locate the X-Men and was injured by the Blood Brothers. In an attempt to tell the group what was going on she made physical contact with Rogue allowing her to absorb her memories and powers, altering Rogue's powers. Mean-while, Xavier and Cadre K decided it was time for more overt opera-tions and attacked the Intergalactic Council directly but were captured as a result. Ultimately, Cadre K were instrumental in exposing the Supreme Intelligence’s plot and Earth's heroes eventually tri-umphed, forcing the Intergalactic Council to lift their restrictions off the Earth. In the aftermath, Xavier had decided that Cadre K had proven themselves and no longer needed his guidance and sent them off to fight for their people.

What followed was a period of what appeared to be a low ebb in Skrull activity for a time as the Skrulls appeared to be involved in less grandiose schemes or plans of conquest. A group of Skrulls were assigned to assassinate the Super-Skrull who was hiding out on Earth. However this plan was thwarted by the Human Torch. A pair of Skrulls piloted Thanos to investigate a strange black hole that appeared and disappeared, and were slain as part of a com-plex plot by the Thanosi to slay their creator, a plan that failed.

Paibok returned once again, seek-ing to boost his powers using Cen-tauri technology, however the pro-cess left him disfigured in his nor-mal Skrull form. He then gathered a band of Skrull outcasts to obtain Talmadge a young Watcher that was being held by the Kree in the town of Clarkston located in the State of Michigan. To this end Pai-bok and his minions disguised themselves as members of a freak show that operated in the town. However their plans were compli-cated thanks to the involvement of the Thing who happened to come to the town. After a pitched battle, the Skrulls were defeated and Pai-bok was taken prisoner by the Kree. Also during this time frame, a group of Skrulls lived peacefully alongside a group of Kree who were living in secret in the town of Raven's Perch, New Jersey home of the hero group known as the B-Sides.

Around this time the Grandmaster entered into a competition with Krona a cosmic being from a dis-tant cosmos to pit their realities greatest champions against one another. In order trick both the Avengers and the Justice League of America into learning of each other’s worlds, both Grandmaster and Krona made it appear that both realities were being invaded by beings from the opposing uni-verse. In one particular instance a Skrull invasion fleet was teleported to the planet Thanagar in that other world where the clashed with the Thanagarian Hawkmen. Ultimately these Skrulls were returned to their native reality before the contest and resulting crisis that threatened both realities was thwarted by the Avengers and the JLA.

While not involving the Skrulls di-rectly, a number of events occurred on Earth that would lay the path to a planned invasion of Earth: the dissolution of the Avengers after a devastating battle against the Scar-let Witch who had temporarily gone mad, and the apparent death of the Asgardian thunder god Thor and destruction of Asgard.

Not long after this another Skrull who was sent to Earth to infiltrate the super-hero community was Z'Reg to infiltrate the Avengers ranks. However he arrived shortly after the Avengers had recently disbanded. Z'Reg soon came to love Earth and abandoned his mission taking on a human guise and living as the unassuming next door neighbor of Curtis Doyle. Also following the dissolution of the Avengers the time traveler known as Iron Lad came to the past to recruit a new team called the Young Avengers, among the team included Teddy Altman -- who un-known even to himself at that time was really Dorrek VIII, the long lost heir to the Skrull throne. Teddy served with the Young Avengers for a time as Hulkling, unaware of his true heritage.

Another event playing into the events that followed was the reve-lations that Nick Fury engaged in an illegal act of war against the nation of Latveria using many of America's greatest heroes. This violation of international law forced Nick Fury to go underground to avoid capture.

By this time the Skrulls soon sought out Veranke having come to believe in the prophecy that the Skrull empire were was to inherit the Earth. Varanke was then re-turned to Satraini and named the queen of the empire. She was brought before Skrull scientist Dro'ge who had perfected the technology to engineer Skrulls to not only duplicate appearances, but to duplicate them down to a cellar level. In addition to this Skrulls were given the power to duplicate the super-human abilities of those they are replicating. Through special mental condition-ing they would be programmed with the memories of their target and not only have their memories but believe that they were that per-son. The process was so thorough those under deep cover would be undetectable through technologi-cal, telepathic or mystic means. He had initially sent a Skrull named Siri to pose as the assassin Elektra. With the real Elektra in their captiv-ity, they experimented on her to try and learn the secret of her many resurrections, but to no avail. She was soon brought back to Satraini and brought before Veranke. So impressed by this, Veranke asked to be one of the first deep cover agents and chose to replace the Earth heroine known as Spider-Woman. Before leaving for Earth, Veranke paid a visit to planet Tar-nax VII and ordered her loyal fol-lower Chrell to eliminate Dorrek VIII when they launch their invasion so as not to have his opposition with her invasion plans. At this point, Skrulls had once more infil-trated the terrorist organization known as Hydra. Using one of their agents they offered Spider-Woman the chance of having her powers restored in exchange for being a double agent for Hydra. She agreed to the offer, under the di-rection of S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury so they could expose and shut down that Hydra cell. However, instead she was replaced with Veranke who promptly took Spider-Woman's place]. It was also around this time that the Skrulls managed to track down Lyja who had been living in her human guise for years. They convinced her to join their cause to get revenge against the Human Torch for abandoning her after he returned after his "death" at the hands of Onslaught, and used Skrull science to restore her laser-fist powers.

Veranke then began meeting with other Skrull infiltrators that were slowly infiltrating both Hydra and S.H.I.E.L.D. They then began plan-ning three major plans: The first was to eliminate the rare metal known as Vibranium as the weap-ons made from it would be un-beatable. Veranke ordered a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. infiltrators to mine the supply found in the Savage Land region of Antartica and mak-ing it appear that it was being car-ried out by Nick Fury loyalists. An-other concern was the growing mutant population, prompting the Skrulls to prompt a campaign to fan the fear of anti-mutant bigotry in the hopes it would decimate the mutant population. Lastly they also began focusing their attention to more powerful humans such as the Scarlet Witch, Doctor Doom, Hercules and members of the Il-luminati. However Veranke put orders that Reed Richards and To-ny Stark would not be killed until after their invasion was complete and they could be put on trial and executed on the Skrull homeworld. Shortly after, Veranke had many other Skrulls go through the pro-cess to pose as various heroes and villains from Earth, with false memories leaving them to believe that they were kidnapped by Skrulls at various points during Earth's most recent history and were placed aboard a prisoner ship where it was planned they would escape once the planned invasion was ready to begin. Short-ly after this, the Skrulls located Nick Fury hiding out in Mexico. They sent a Skrull posing as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, however Fury soon uncovered that she was a Skrull and slew her. Fury then be-came aware of the Skrull invasion and went deeper underground to prepare to stop it. The Skrulls next went after the assassin Elektra, capturing her and having her re-placed by a Skrull named Pagon. Posing as Elektra, Pagon then slew the leader of the assassins known as the Hand, taking leadership of them securing yet another power for the Skrulls.

Through her connections within S.H.I.E.L.D., Veranke continued to pose as Spider-Woman, eventually taking part in stopping an attempt-ed break out at the Raft prison in New York where she assisted Cap-tain America, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Spider-Man, and Wolverine in stopping the escape of many of the super-powered inmates there. This breakout was facilitated by the criminal known as Electro, who was secretly paid by the Skrull pos-ing as Elektra to do so, so that the Skrulls could secure the use of mutate Karl Lykos to use to find the Vabranium hidden in the Savage Land. When Iron Man and Captain America formed the New Avengers, "Spider-Woman" was selected as a member and from this position she would continue to manipulate Earth's mightiest he-roes until it was time for the Skrull invasion of Earth. Ironically enough, the New Avengers mis-sion was to recapture the criminals who escaped from the Raft, start-ing with Karl Lykos. About this time the Skrulls posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were discovered by the Savage Land's ruler Ka-Zar and his wife Shanna who uncovered who they really wear. Overhearing that the Skrulls were busy infiltrating the United States government, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the Avengers, when the New Avengers arrived they did not approach as they did not know whom they could trust. The New Avengers eventually un-covered the illegal S.H.I.E.L.D. op-eration there, however the Skrulls used a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier to destroy all evidence before the Avengers could learn of Skrull in-volvement, and removing the Ant-arctic Vabranium as a potential weapon against their invasion. Meanwhile Veranke continued to fight alongside the Avengers leav-ing them unaware of her Skrull nature.

After years away, Titannus resur-faced having been brainwashed into being an agent for the Trel-lians. Left to believe he was escap-ing an oppressive ruler with Prin-cess Amissa as his unwilling par-amour to Earth, where he began monitoring Earth's heroes. His presence was soon discovered and he Titannus clashed with the Japanese mutant Sunfire a battle that left Tokyo decimated. This ultimately led to a clash between Titannus, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Dr. Strange, Nova, Hulk, She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. The heroes quickly freed Amissa who revealed that she was not Titannus' lover and that he kidnapped and that her father was not a tyrant. Distraught and mentally unstable, Titannus blew his own head off, ending the battle. However his enhanced healing caused his head to rapidly regenerate.

Not long after this the Super-Skrull learned of Dorrek VIII's true herit-age and came after the boy, kid-napping him from his fellow Young Avengers after revealing to Hulkling his Skrull heritage, seek-ing him to take his place as ruler of the Skrull empire. However Super-Skrull was not only tracked down by the Young Avengers, but also the Kree who sought to take the boy to rule their empire as well. This resulted in a battle between the Young Avengers, New Avengers, and the Kree and Skrull entourages coming to claim Hulkling. Ultimately, Teddy and the Super-Skrull came up with a ruse to stop the fighting: The Super-Skrull, posing as Hulking agreed to leave to spend half his time ruling the Kree and the other half the Skrulls left with both alien envoys allowing Hulkling to stay on Earth and resume his activities with the Young Avengers.

Z'Reg resurfaced eventually, after his neighbor discovered a powerful ring fashioned out of shards of the Cosmic Cube he became the cos-tumed hero Freedom Ring, but was crippled in a battle. Z'Reg revealed himself and decided to teach Cur-tis how to utilize the ring. Taking on the costumed identity of the Cru-sader, Z'Reg also helped Freedom Ring train. Eventually the duo as-sisted the New Avengers in battling the Iron Maniac. Freedom Ring died stopping the Iron Maniac, and the Crusader took his ring and con-tinued his costumed heroics. Ti-tannus escaped shortly after this and went on a rampage again, Crusader joined a number of he-roes in stopping him and he was eventually detained and taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody. By this time Ethan Edwards, now an adult work-ing for the Daily Bugle newspaper in New York began using his pow-ers as a costumed hero called Vir-tue. He joined Spider-Man in fighting the Absorbing Man, the two learned of their alter egos and Spi-der-Man agreed to help Virtue train to be a better hero and began learning about his origins. Virtue eventually brought the Fantastic Four back to his "hometown" of Hicksville where they found the ship that brought him to Earth and learned of his Skrull heritage. The ship then began encoding Virtue with his mission perimeters to take over the Earth leading to a clash with the FF, the conflicting memo-ries of his Skrull mission and his Earthly upbringing causing a mas-sive and violent identity crisis. The New Avengers managed to detain Virtue and Spider-Man convinced him that despite his true heritage he was still a good person. Virtue then decided to abandon costume heroics and use his healing pow-ers, which came from some un-known source outside of his fa-ther’s genetic tampering, to heal the sick and the infirm.

During this period the Skrulls were locked in a conflict with the Majesdanians. An order of Super-Skrulls were then trained, which included a young Skrullian prince named Xavin. He was trained un-der the command of a Skrull trained named Chrell. In order to try and broker peace an arranged marriage was agreed upon by where Majesdian parents Frank and Leslie Dean agreed that their daughter Karolina would marry Skrull prince Xavin. Xavin eventu-ally came seeking Karolina leading to a battle between Xavin and her teammates the Runaways. Ulti-mately, Karolina agreed to go into space to marry Xavin in order to broker peace between the two rac-es. However this plan did not work and eventually Xavin and Karolina returned to Earth and reunited with the Runaways. A prison ship carry-ing Paibok the Power Skrull and other alien criminals crashed in the town of Hoot's Bluff, Alaska. There the escapees clashed with Drax the Destroyer until they were ap-prehended again.

Veranke soon got the opportunity to deal with the Scarlet Witch, whom the Avengers were grouping to deal with after her mental insta-bility continued to cause her to warp reality. When the Avengers called in veteran members such as Yellowjacket, they were still una-ware that both Spider-Woman and Yellowjacket were Skrull impostors. Veranke and Criti Noll plotted to eliminate the Scarlet Witch once and for all once they arrived in Genosha where she was staying in convalescence. However they did not get the chance as the encoun-ter led to a battle between the New Avengers and X-Men against the Scarlet Witch's family: her father Magneto and brother Quicksilver. Ultimately, the Witched used her powers to replace Earth-616 with Earth-581. Because they were Skrull impostors, Veranke and Criti Noll were one of the few beings in this new reality that retained their memories of the old one and plot-ted to do away with once and for all. However in the final battle, the Scarlet Witch realized that mutants were the cause of constant conflict and restored reality back to normal, however she removed the mutant gene from 99% of the mutant pop-ulation.

Also around this time a number of Warskrulls were still active at this time. One named Flaw fought alongside the Shi'ar Death Com-mandos who were assigned to eliminate the entire Grey family genome.. The X-Men also clashed with Warskrulls who were trapped on a space station crippled by the powerful mutant Vulcan. Another Skrull was stopped from using nu-clear arms on an Earth space sta-tion by Doc Samson. This Skrull believed himself to be one of the Skrulls who Reed Richards turned into a cow years earlier, but this claim has not been substantiated and contradicts previous reports that all the Skrull Cows were ground up into hamburger.

When it was learned that the posi-tive matter universe was expand-ing and consuming the so-called Negative Zone, its ruler Annihilus launched a massive full scale as-sault on the positive matter uni-verse that was commonly referred to as the Annihilation Wave. It burst through from the center of the uni-verse referred to as The Crunch and began decimating everything in their path. They destroyed the Klyn prison located at the center of the universe near what is called "The Crunch". Among the many prisoners Piabok was a prisoner there. The planet Xandar and the Nova Corps were decimated in the opening salvo of what would be called the Annihilation War. Paibok and the other prisoners from the Klyn that were found useful were made slaves of the Annihilation Wave.

On the 15th day of the Annihilation Wave reached the Skrull galaxy and began laying waste to it. This destruction was felt all the way on Earth by Veranke and her followers who had met to discuss the after effects of decimation of the mutant race. Feeling the genocide of bil-lions of her people convinced Veranke that yet another prophecy from the Book of Worlds was com-ing true and that they should stay on their course. Within 17 days the Annihilation Wave pushed through the Andromeda Galaxy cutting a swath through the Skrull Empire. One of the first recorded decima-tions occurred at Tala Prime, leav-ing no Skrull survivors. By day 19 the Wave cut through Tercera Prime and began to swarm the Eudorian Reach. On day 20 they pressed into Tecera Minor in the Peripheral System the centre of a battle between the Annihilation Wave, Galactus and his Heralds, a battle that ended in the Ba-doon/Skrull Neutral Zone known as the Obad'an Rim.

On day 41 of the Annihilation Wave, the forces of Annihilus reached the Skrullian world of Ask'lo. Despite the addition of the Super-Skrull to the Skrull armies there they proved no match for the Annihilation Wave's most powerful weapon, the planet destroying Harvester of Sorrow which de-stroyed the planet. Escaping alive, and on day 46, Kl'rt attempted to warn Baroness S'Bak and de-manded that she allow him to lead an attack on the Harvester of Sor-rows. This was because it was headed to the Skrull world of Zara-gz'na the world where Kl'rt's son lived. The Baroness refused the Super-Skrull and insulted her, an-gering him enough to strike her. She ordered her minions to slay him, but the Super-Skrull managed to escape thanks to R'Kin a young Skrull mechanic whose father fought alongside the Super-Skrull years earlier. Seeking to find a weakness in the Harvester, Kl'rt and R'Kin travelled to Earth and convinced Reed Richards to allow them to travel into the Negative Zone through his portal there. For the next seven days they travelled through the Zone, Super-Skrull slaying all those that did not pro-vide him with answers, disturbing R'Kin. On day 56 in the Nexus of Igoa they found UX-73 a Negative Zone prison to find Hawal the sci-entist who invented the Harvester of Sorrows. He captured Hawal and gathered an army of prisoners as his army, including the mecha-noid known as Praxagora and Preak. When the Super-Skrull led his warriors back into the positive matter universe to stop the Har-vester of Sorrows from destroying Zaragz'na, they were suddenly betrayed by R'Kin, who had been twisted by the Super-Skrull's brutal ways that he decided to side with the Annihilation Wave and helped them take Super-Skrull and his allies prisoner and Zaragz'na was destroyed. Kl'rt broke free and in the ensuing battle, the Harvester was destroyed and Kl'rt seemingly slain in the explosion. By day 79, the Skrull Empire was no more after 64 days of non-stop invasion.

Other Skrulls active during the An-nihilation War was Talos who now lived in the fringe Kree world of Godthab Omega. On the 95th day of the Annihilation War he clashed with Devos, who had tracked Talos in order to slay him. The pair were captured by Galorian the former disciple of the Shaper of Worlds who sought to remake Godthab Omega into a paradise. The planet was soon devastated by the Anni-hilation Wave on the 99th day of the Wave and in the aftermath Ro-nan the Accuser ordered both Ta-los and Devos to work together to help the survivors get off planet. Devos was later seen fighting alongside the the United Front, warriors from various empires in the galaxy under the command of Nova who were working together to stop Annihilus and his forces. He was involved in the fighting on Daedalus 5 in the Kree galaxy

On day 212 of the Annihilation War, Praxagora joined the United Front, bringing with her the seem-ingly deceased body of the Super-Skrull when they were suddenly attacked by Ravenous and his ar-my of Centurions, an elite cadre of super-powered warriors under An-nihilus' command. Kl'rt was revived by the United Front's healing ma-chines and assisted in the evacua-tion of Deadalus 5 as it fell under the Annihilation Wave. When Ro-nan the Accuser decided to wrest control of the Kree Empire from the House of Fiyero, the Super-Skrull and Praxagora convinced him to allow them to accompany him. On the Kree world of Hala, Super-Skrull assisted Ronan in exposing the House of Fiyero as working with the Annihilation Wave and helped him retake his homeworld. Following the eventual slaying of Annihilus and the defeat of his Annihilation Wave, officials be-lieved that the Skrull Empire was destroyed and showed no sign of recovery. Super-Skrull continued to work alongside Ronan for a time. Freed from slavery under the An-nihlation Wave, Paibok briefly ac-companied his fellow slaves the Delinquent and Terrax to New Xeron.

While the Annihilation Wave was on going, on Earth, Veranke and her followers continued on their mission to invade the Earth, putting their final plans into motion. Meanwhile on Earth, with Skrull forces slowly infiltrating all levels of American government and vari-ous terrorist organizations, Veranke and her faithful follows slowly sowed the seeds of dissent among the ranks of Earth's super-heroes.

They then began eliminating the last beings that would stand in their way. The Skrull posing as Jarvis used his position to access files on the mental health of the Sentry, whose sanity was questionable at the time. The Skrulls then began manipulating his therapy sessions so they could use his mental ill-ness against him when he began to get into the way of their plans. The Skrulls were either directly, or indirectly involved in the exile of the Hulk from Earth as well as var-ious other super-human related disasters the Superhuman Regis-tration Act was passed in the Unit-ed States forcing superhumans and costumed crime fighters to register with the government and reveal their identities. This split the super-hero community in half and two opposing sides battled in a conflict that was referred to as the Civil War. In the middle of the war, a Skrull posing as the deceased Captain Marvel appeared in the middle of the conflict. Leading the heroes to believe he was plucked out of the past and was still dying of cancer, "Mar-Vell" agreed to remain in the present and help run security Prison 42, a prison con-structed in the Negative Zone to hold those who refused to register with the government. The conflict ended with the surrender of Cap-tain America, the leader of the anti-registration resisters. Captain America was later seeming assas-sinated while in custody by one of his foes. On the night Captain America was murdered, S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives Dum Dum Dugan and were replaced by the Skrull that was posing as the Coun-tess. Criti Noll however soon be-came affected by the Henry Pym implant in his mind and tried to warn an Oregon restaurant owner of the coming invasion. This was stopped by the Dugan impersona-tor who slew Citri and had his forc-es eliminate all eye witnesses of the battle. Citri was then replaced with a clone that had none of Pym's capacity for human com-passion.

While in Britain at that time, John the Skrull resurfaced once again, having been working for years un-der the British government's new-est paranormal investigation agen-cy MI-13 working with the mutant Pete Wisdom in defending the Brit-ish Isles from various threats. Not long after this John reunited the Skrull Beatles to assist in stopping the Martian Masters of Earth-691 from invading Earth-616 through a portal opened in London.

Following the end of the Civil War, Iron Man was appointed the new director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and he, "Yel-lowjacket" and Reed Richards be-gan the 50-State Initiative a gov-ernment program that trained su-per-humans to use their powers properly and place them in gov-ernment sanctioned super-hero groups in every state in America. Meanwhile, Iron Man also formed the so-called Mighty Avengers, a government sanctioned version of the group. Veranke initially re-mained an unregistered super-hero in her guise of Spider-Woman fighting alongside the outlaw New Avengers. Meanwhile the new Criti Noll used her position as "Yellow-jacket" to place Skrull agents with in the Initiative, while Iron Man's use of StarkTech in all measures of S.H.I.E.L.D. defenses gave the Skrull infiltrators access to the en-tire defense of the United States.

Another Skrull active on Earth, but not involved in the planned inva-sion was Jazinda Kl'rt Spawn, the daughter of Kl'rt the Super-Skrull. Who unspecified years earlier at-tempted to steal the Sy-Torak gem from the Kree Empire for the Skrulls. During a skirmish she at-tempted to swallow the gem which endowed her with incredible re-generative powers, but it was per-manently bonded to her body. Re-fusing to sacrifice her life to have the gem extracted Jazinda fled the empire and her father vowed to track her down and kill her. Fleeing to Earth Jazinda became a bounty hunter in America, eventually work-ing alongside the She-Hulk.

Also around this time the Skrulls on Kral IV had finally rebuilt their soci-ety. Under the leadership of a Skrull calling himself Lou "Biggie" Smalls things mostly went back to the gangster themed status quo. However some of the Skrulls were repentant of their former slaving ways and inspired by television transmissions of the American Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 60s, adopted the forms of African-Americans. Their lead-ers took on the guises of Martin Luther King, and Malcom X and attempted to change the way of their people through peaceful demonstration. Biggie Small and his minions fought against this and the African-American Skrulls were put on the defensive in the area of Kral fashioned to resemble New York City's Harlem district. Finding that passive resistance was not working Malcom X then formed the Black Panther Party militia to fight against the Skrull slave masters. More recently the Fantastic Four (now counting the Black Panther and Storm among the roster) were transported to Kral by King Solo-mon's Frogs where they were in-stantly attacked by Biggie Small's minions. The Skrull Slavers man-aged to capture the Thing, Human Torch and Black Panther while Storm managed to escape into "Harlem" and join up with the Black Panther Party. The three captives were then forced to fight in the arenas against alien creatures and each other. Although the Black Panther Party resistance was al-most betrayed by the double cross-ing "Bumpy" Johnson, Storm man-aged to free her comrades and Biggie's regime was demolished allowing Martin and his followers to rebuild a more peaceful society. The Fantastic Four were later tele-ported back home by King Solo-mon's Frogs.

Following the Inhuman's so-called Silent War with the Earth over sto-len Terrigen Crystals, the Inhuman leader Black Bolt was captured and replace with a Skrull impostor. Soon the Hulk returned from his exile after a harrowing experience on the planet Skaar where he be-came their warrior king only for the warp core of the ship that brought him there destroyed the planet. Seeking to get revenge against the Illuminati, the Hulk and his War-bound first landed on the moon where he brutally beat "Black Bolt" before turning his rage toward the Earth. Black Bolt's queen Medusa nursed the impostor back to health, further entrenching his infiltration into Inhuman society. The Hulk meanwhile was soon taken down by Earth's heroes, although at the cost of Dr. Strange's hands being crippled -- thus limiting his magical powers. In the aftermath of the battle, Skrulls had Amadeus Cho's pet coyote Kurby replaced with a Skrull as well. This conflict also removed two more players that would work against the Skrulls planned invasion. Skrulls also at-tempted to infiltrate the Hood's super-criminal gang by trying to replace Madame Masque. Howev-er the Skrulls posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who attempted to cause this infiltration failed to do so and when the Hood uncovered this secret plot, and exposing a Skrull posing as the Slug. Exposing this infiltra-tion helped cement loyalty from the Hood's minions.

Secret Invasion: Infiltration
Later, the New Avengers clashed with the Hand in Japan. At that time the organization was still under the command of Pagon while posting as Elektra. She clashed with the outlaw New Avengers. Ultimately the battle ended when the New Avenger known as Echo slew Pa-gon, revealing her Skrull identity. While taking the corpse of Pagon back to the United States. When "Spider-Woman" suggested they bring the corpse to Tony Stark, the rest of the team refused. However, an opertune plane crash allowed Spider-Woman to escape with the corpse. Veranke then delivered the corpse of Pagon to Iron Man and his Mighty Avengers, with news of how her former comrades believed that there was an impending Skrull invasion, cementing her "loyalty" to the Mighty Avengers. Iron Man brought the corpse of Pagon to his comrades in the Illuminati to puz-zle over a completely undetectable Skrull in their midst and the impli-cations of a wider invasion. It was during this meeting that the Skrull posing as Black Bolt then attacked with another Super-Skrull warrior. The heroes just barely managed to stop these Skrull attackers slaying them both, however the Illuminati disbanded unable to trust them-selves let alone anyone else. Iron Man turned over the corpse of the Skrull who posed as Black Bolt over to his wife Medusa, who was furious to learn this.

Also at this time, "Yellowjacket's" work in the Initiative saw the grad-uation of a number of recruits and the establishment of super-hero teams in various states in America, each group that was formed by "Yellowjacket" included at least one Skrull impostor. In Arizona the De-sert Stars were infiltrated by the Blacksmith; In Arkansas, the Battal-ion was infiltrated by a Buford Hol-lis Skrull posing as Razorback; Florida's Command was planted with a Devil Dinosaur impostor; The Calvary of Georgia was infil-trated by a Skrull posing as Thor Girl; Hawaii's Point Men had a Skrull posing as a novice hero named Magnitude; a Frog Man impostor was among the ranks of Kentucy's Action Pack; In addition to a Skrull posing as Equinox in Montana's Freedom Force; New Mexico's Mavericks team had a Skrull posing as She-Thing; An unidentified Skrull infiltrated Ne-vada's Heavy Hitters team; While Pennsylvania's Liberteens were infiltrated by the Revolutionary; Oddly a Skrull chose to pose as Red Wolf's pet Lobo among the Rangers of Texas; A Skrull posed as Skyhawk of Washington State's Earth Force; and lastly the Grass-hopper was a Skrull spy within the Wisconsin's Great Lakes Initiative team. Ironically, one Initiative re-cruit, the Crusader, while a Skrull, was not part of the invasion plans and completely unaware of them, but soon began to suspect that "Yellowjacket" was a Skrull agent, making him to question his loyal-ties, while also fearing being ex-posed himself.

By this time the Skrull posing as Captain Marvel had developed a religion based on his adopted cru-sade for peace. On a mission with Ms. Marvel they uncovered Skrulls posing as Kree soldiers unnerving "Mar-Vell". This so unnerved Mar-Vell he questioned a Skrull who captured while impersonating the deceased villain known as Cobalt Man, who revealed to "Mar-Vell" of his involvement in the coming Skrull invasion of Earth; After a brief personality crisis, "Captain Marvel" decided to accept his adopted Kree heritage and contin-ue being the hero he was mod-elled to follow after. Also during this period an attempt by Super-Skrulls to take down and replace Ms. Marvel also failed. In addition to this, the Skrulls captured Beta Ray Bill to utilize his mystical hammer Stormbreaker as a weap-on against the Asgardian gods.

Nogor soon arrived on Earth and seeing the mutant Darwin as the missing link between mutants and Skrulls posed as the mutant known as Longshot and attempted to lull Darwin into a sense of false securi-ty. Nogor's presence on Earth was detected by Jazinda who went after Nogor in Chicago with She-Hulk, which led to a brief conflict with X-Factor Investigations who were searching for Darwin. Eventually the heroes put aside their differ-ences and were able to capture Nogor and with the help of Darwin knock him out. Jazinda and She-Hulk then took Nogor as their pris-oner in the hopes that they could use him as leverage to stop the coming invasion of Earth.

Finally, Veranke and her followers in the Dard'van launched their ji-had against the planet Earth. While Iron Man presented the corpse of Pagon to Reed Richards and "Hen-ry Pym", the Skrull posing as Dum Dum Dugan paid a visit to the S.W.O.R.D. space station just as a Skrull ship was on a crash course with the Savage Land. With the Mighty Avengers heading to the Savage Land, "Spider-Woman" tipped off the New Avengers as well to get both groups into a con-flict there. "Dum Dum" and his min-ions then detonated the SWORD space station, while "Jarvis" acti-vated a virus that disabled all Starktech on the planet, crippling not only Iron Man, S.H.I.E.L.D., prisons like the Raft and the Cube, and the majority of Earth's defens-es and even first response emer-gency rescue. The Skrull posing a Yellow Jacket then revealed her-self as well, taking Reed Richards prisoner.

What followed was a simultaneous series of attacks in what is now referred to as the Secret Invasion of Earth. As all attacks happened simultaneously, and for the sake of clarity each attack has been de-tailed separately below based on the geographic locations.

In the Savage Land, the New Avengers and Mighty Avengers clashed until the Skrull virus began to infect Iron Man's armor, stopping the fight. Then the crashed Skrull ship opened revealing a number of Super-Skrulls in the forms of vari-ous heroes, mentally conditioned to believe that they were the real heroes and were captured at vari-ous points in the past. Unable to tell who Skrull impostor from the real heroes, a fight soon broke out between the Avengers and the "heroes" who emerged from the ship. During the battle, a Skrull posing as the Vision took ad-vantage of the Skrulls manipula-tions of the Sentry's therapy, con-vincing the Sentry that the battle was being caused by his evil per-sona the Void. This caused the mentally fractured hero to flee the battle. Iron Man had Ms. Marvel pull him out of the battle so he could try to repair his armor, una-ware that Veranke was following them. Meanwhile a sudden attack by the Tyrannosaur sent hero and Skrull impostor scattered. One Skrull impostor was posing as Mockingbird managed to convince Ronin that she was his seemingly deceased wife. Spider-Man ran into Ka-Zar and Shanna and learned about the Skrull's involve-ment in the New Avenger's earliest mission in the Savage Land when they were suddenly attacked by a Skrull posing as Captain America. While elsewhere Wonder Man clashed with a Skrull posing as his longtime friend the Beast.

Having sent Ms. Marvel to New York to get help, Iron Man was then confronted by "Spider-Woman" who then tried to convince Iron Man that he was really a Skrull infiltrator who helped with the inva-sion effort. The Black Widow slew the Skrulls posing as the Beast and Phoenix and came to Iron Man's aid, sending Veranke fleeing. However with no means of telling the real heroes from the impostors and with Iron Man fighting off the effects of the Skrull virus the situa-tion was struck in a tense stale-mate.

At the start of the Invasion, Khn'nr the Skrull posing as Captain Mar-vel was still conflicted with his false Kree memories and his orders in the Skrull invasion. Finally giving into his mission orders. Following these orders he launched an attack on the Thunderbolts headquarters in the Colorado Rockies. Khn'nr easily incapacitated Thunderbolts team, but before he could slay them he was talked down by their leader Norman Osborn. A brilliant manipulator, Osborn convinced Khn'nr to give up on his Skrull or-ders and embrace the honor of the hero he was conditioned to imitate, prompting Khn'nr to fly off into space. Prior to the attack, the Thunderbolt's member Swords-man was provided with a clone of his sister Andrea, suspecting that she was a Skrull, Osborn ordered his troops to be prepared to kill her if she acted against them. Osborn then took the impending Skrull attack to boost the Thunderbolt's profile while discrediting Tony Stark/Iron Man and ordered his Thunderbolts to Washington D.C. to fight the Skrull invasion there.

The Skrull virus also knocked out the primary S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier sending it crashing into the Ber-muda Triangle. There the Skrull posing as Jarvis approached who he thought was S.H.I.E.L.D. director Maria Hill, and ordered her to sur-render. However at the advice of Nick Fury, months earlier, Hill had placed a Life Model Decoy in her place and instead of surrendering detonated the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicar-rier. However the Skrull posing as Jarvis survived and managed to return to New York City.

Just prior to the invasion newly appointed leader of the Hawaii based Point Men Initiative Team, the new 3-D Man uncovered that his teammate Magnitude was a Skrull and slew him. He then had himself teleported to Camp Ham-mond to warn his superiors. How-ever overhearing 3-D Man trying to raise the alarm of a Skrull invasion, the Crusader -- fearing being ex-posed and lumped in with the in-vaders -- used his Cosmic Ring to invert the ability for 3-D Man's gog-gles to reveal hidden Skrulls, mak-ing it look like everybody at the 50 State Initiative was a Skrull. Need-ing to find allies elsewhere, 3-D Man attempted to flee getting far enough for Crusader's Cosmic Ring to stop effecting his goggles. However at this point the Skrull virus hit all Skrull tech causing 3-D Man's ship to crash land in New Mexico. The virus almost felled War Machine however a failsafe using old Stane International tech-nology saved War Machines life. By that point reports of an attack on New York by Skrull forces. "Yellow-jacket" then ordered all Initiative recruits to head into battle, all complied except for the cowardly Ant-Man shrunk down to size to avoid going along. Having re-ceived a recorded message from Iron Man himself sent War Ma-chine off to a secret cache of unaf-fected weapons to use against the Skrull invasion, leaving mostly support staff behind. With most of his opposition gone, "Yellowjacket" then called in Skrull agents to se-cure Camp Hammond, unaware that they were revealing them-selves and their plans to turn the camp into the heart of the "new" Skrull Empire to Ant-Man.

With Skrull ships landing at Camp Hammond, Bengal and other Initia-tive released the unstable Shadow Initiative to stop the takeover of their headquarters, teaming up with Ant-Man in the process. As the Shadow Initiative were preparing for an attack, Veranke arrived at Camp Hammond from her ordeal in the Savage Land. However the Skrulls were fully aware that the Shadow Initiative were active on the base and foiled their attempt to assassinate Veranke. However Ant-Man remained free and uncap-tured. The Skrulls posing as "Dum Dum Dugan" and "Yellowjacket" used Camp Hammond to send out a mass message to the human race telling them to surrender to their cause, while also monitoring their efforts to compromise the various Initiative teams that had been infiltrated by Skrull opera-tives. Operations that were quickly crumbling thanks to the efforts of the Skrull Kill Krew who had teamed up with 3-D Man and other Initiative recruits. With their plans failing, the Skrulls at Camp Ham-mond decided to initiate their last resort, a weapon that utilized the Negative Zone transport towers of at least three Initiative bases to create a portal that would destroy the entire United States.

While on a speaking engagement in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Invisible Woman was ambushed by Skrull operatives and she was replaced by Lyja. Lyja then trav-elled to New York City where she gained access to the Baxter Build-ing headquarters of the Fantastic Four where she managed to fool the Thing and Human Torch and the Richards children long enough to activate a device that shunted the upper levels of the Baxter Building into the Negative Zone. Elsewhere in the city, young Mac-kenzie Walden learned that her brother had been replaced by a Skrull invader.

With both the Avengers and the Fantastic Four incapacitated the Skrulls launched their attack on New York City. In New York at the time were the Runaways, when their teammate Xavin confronted the Skrulls and learned what was going on. When he learned that the Skrull team they have encountered had come to specifically slay Dorrek VIII, Xavin pulled his fellow Runaways out of the battle and went off to warn the Young Avengers. At this point the Young Avengers were already engaged in battle against the Skrull squad that was deployed in Times Square. Xavin arrived at the scene of the battle and pulled Hulkling away from the battle, but they were pursed by Chrell. With the help of Young Avengers Speed and Wican and the other Runaways helped keep Hulkling safe from Chrell and his assassin X'iv. The two teams then succeeded in slaying Chrell and X'iv. Hulking and his team-mates returned to the battle in Times Square, where the battle continued to go poorly until the timely arrival of the Initiative re-cruits and Nick Fury's Secret Warri-ors. However the tide soon re-versed and the Skrulls were gain-ing the upper hand on sheer num-bers alone, just when Ms. Marvel arrived on the scene. Fury pulled back the Initiative recruits and Young Avengers away. Suspecting that Ms. Marvel was a Skrull, Fury blasted her with is weapon before teleporting away, leaving her at the mercy of the Skrulls. At Fury's hideout, the conflicted Crusader decided once and for all that he would fight alongside the heroes of Earth and defend his adopted home.

Despite being left alone Ms. Marvel managed to fight off against the Skrulls. Facing a superior foe, the Skrulls then tried to disguise them-selves as Earth civilians caught in the middle of the conflict. Despite her rough means, she managed to expose the Skrulls by blasting the crowd with a low power energy blast. After fighting off the remain-ing Skrulls on in Times Square, she helped S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Hui Lin evacuate citizens to the Raft prison. However she found the Raft under attack by a Skrull called Hy-dra Prime 001 who tortured and murdered the guards and some of the inmates. She had the im-mensely powerful Skrull creature follow after her and they fought all over the city. However when the Hydra Prime was brought before his fellow Skrulls, Ms. Marvel real-ized that they were frightened of the creature. After Hydra Prime slew all the Skrulls in the vicinity she then was able to overpower and slay the creature herself.

Elsewhere in the city the novice heroine known as Jackpot clashed with a Skrull seeking to replace Spider-Man, slaying the creature after a battle across the city. In ad-dition, Front Line writer Ben Urich was caught in downtown Manhat-tan during the invasion. From there he recorded the personal triumphs and tragedies of everyday people in the face of the Skrull invasion. While Mackenzie Walden and her family continued to try and survive the invasion. The invasion also freed the Punisher from prison, and seeing the chaos he rode into New York City to lay waste to every Skrull he came across. The Pun-isher's shooting spree attracted the attention of a Super-Skrull with the powers of Hammerhead and the Kingpin, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent G.W. Bridge and his former ally Ram-page. However the three humans put aside their differences long enough to take down the Skrulls attacking them, however Rampage was horribly maimed in the pro-cess. The New Warriors also briefly fought the Skrulls in New York.

One of the few survivors of the Skrull attack that destroyed the SWORD satellite was its director Abigail Brand thanks to her uni-form's limited life support systems. Abigail managed to float toward a Skrull ship and force her way in-side where she learned what was happening on Earth and that the ship she managed to board was also holding Reed Richards pris-oner. Using her knowledge of the Skrull language, Brand managed to fool the Skrulls on board into thinking she was one of their infil-trators and slew them all, then freed Reed Richards. Richards then prepared a device that would help them reveal disguised Skrulls and the pair returned to Earth. As they fled to Earth, the invasion ship was attacked and destroyed by the Skrull posing as "Captain Marvel".

The Inhumans were also attacked on the moon by a Skrull invasion fleet, while somewhere deep in space a Skrull scientist’s attempted surgery on the real Black Bolt to channel his destructive voice into their warship in order to give it a devastating weapon. When Black Bolt refused to use his powers the Skrulls then threatened to harm his son Ahura forcing him to comply. Meanwhile, the Inhuman royal family managed to stave off the Skrull invasion of their home and then left for space to search for their missing leader. The royal family then approached the Kree, with Medusa pledging that the In-humans will begin following their intended purpose of battling the Skrulls on behalf of the Kree. They then set about to obtain various items that Karnak needed to hack into the Skrulls data bases and learn the location of their leader. Succeeding in their missions, the Inhumans were able to locate the Skrull ship and attacked it. During the confusion, Black Bolt managed to break free and slew his captors. The reunited Inhuman family then returned back to their home on the moon after destroying the Skrull ship.

Meanwhile, War Machine followed Tony Stark's signal into space where he came across a heavily armed satellite piloted by his for-mer Force Works teammate Suzie Endo. The Skrull invasion fleet over Earth was then attacked by War Machine and Endo decimating many of the ships in the process.

On the planet Dendron the hero Nova was attacked by a team of Super-Skrulls and was assisted by Kl'rt the original Super-Skrull. Learning of the Skrull invasion of Earth, Nova headed toward Earth with Kl'rt with him. There they were attacked by a Skrull fleet where Nova was seemingly betrayed by Kl'rt. However this was a ruse on the Super-Skrull's part in order to allow both of them to escape to Earth.

Not all Skrulls in space wanted to take part in the invasion of Earth. A group of Skrull fled to Knowhere and were under the protection of Knowhere's security chief Cosmo in order to escape those pursuing them for assassination. However a Super-Skrull suicide bomber came to Knowhere and blew himself up in an attempt to expose the defec-tors, alerting the Guardians of the Galaxy that their home base was infiltrated by Skrulls. After a clash with the Galactic Council and their enforcers the Luminals, the Skrulls were exposed but were allowed to live in peace when the truth was learned.

The Thunderbolts answered the request for assistance in Washing-ton D.C., which was also under siege by the Skrull invaders. How-ever the Skrulls were ready to deal with the group of "reformed" super-villains, by using Super-Skrull modelled after former members of the team, appealing to Moon-stone's desire for power, Bullseye's capacity for murder, Penance's guilt over the death of hundreds of people in Stamford, Connecticut, overloading Radioactive Man to reach critical mass, and Norma Osborn's hatred of Spider-Man against the group.

However despite their duplicitous ways and deceptions, the Thun-derbolts managed to pull together to fight back against the Skrulls, slaying every attacker and saving the capital. The last surviving Skrulls attempted one last suicide run by consuming pills that caused them to melt and merge into a massive liquid form, but this too was stopped by the Thunderbolts, winning them national praise. With Washington D.C. now safe, Osborn ordered his minions to New York to fight off the invasion happening there.

A group of normal Skrulls were dispatched to San Francisco, una-ware that it was under protection from the X-Men. The X-Men suc-ceeded in their initial attack forced back the opening salvo. During the attack, the X-Man Nightcrawler obtained an orb that contained artificial intelligence which tried to convert the mutant hero into a loyal follower of the Skrull faith. The Skrulls came back by using their own telepaths to jam the X-Men's ability to communicate via long range telepathy and then attacked the city again with Super-Skrulls. When the X-Men responded with a series of guerilla attacks the Skrulls then began kidnapping the people of San Francisco and trapping them in various towers. The Skrulls then gave the X-Men an ultimatum: stand down within 24 hours and surrender or all the humans they have captured will be slaughtered. However, the X-Men were given an idea when Nightcrawler showed Beast the orb that was trying to "convert" him and explained that it was doing so because by the Skrull's logic, mutants and Skrulls were not all that different. With this inspiration, Beast examined one of the dead Skrulls they captured and learned Skrull DNA was very simi-lar to mutants. The X-Men then manufactured a strain of Stryfe's Legacy Virus which was engi-neered to be lethal to Skrulls only. Then under the auspices of sur-render, the X-Men infected the en-tire Skrull armada. When the Skrulls began falling ill to the dead-ly virus, X-Men leader Cyclops of-fered them the antidote in ex-change for a cure, however the Skrulls refused and flew up into the sky setting their ships to self-destruct, choosing death with hon-our than defeat.

Broxon, Oklahoma/Asgard
Beta Ray Bill managed to break free from Skrull captivity just mo-ments prior to the invasion and return to Earth. He crashed in As-gard which at that time floated high above the town of Broxon, Okla-homa. He warned the Asgardians of the coming invasion and that the Skrulls planned to utilize his ham-mer Stormbreaker as a weapon. With duties needing to be carried out in the town of Broxon in his alter-ego of Dr. Donald Blake, Thor gave Beta Ray Bill his hammer Mjolnir to lead the battle against the Skrulls invading Asgard. While Blake helped a woman in Broxon give birth, Beta Ray Bill led the war-riors of Asgard against the God-killer Skrulls made specifically for fighting gods. When the woman in Broxon gave birth, a Godkiller armed with weapons fashioned from Stormbreaker flew to the city intending to destroy it. Beta Ray Bill went after it and was felled trying to defend the town. With the com-bined efforts of Thor and the War-riors Three, the heroes managed to pull Stormbreaker from the God-killer and return it to Beta Ray Bill. Thor and Beta Ray then battled the Godkiller Skrull who was slain when Thor commanded Asgard to fall upon it, crushing the attacker to death. With the Godkiller dead, the Skrull invasion of Asgard was easi-ly repelled.

Arriving on Earth, Nova learned from his family that his brother Robert was now working at Project PEGASUS which was under attack from Skrull forces. Nova assisted Darkhawk and the newly resurrect-ed Quasar defend Project PEGA-SUS from Skrulls trying to infiltrate the research lab in order to gain access to alien weapons. The he-roes gained the upper hand when Robert and his co-workers were able to reboot Nova's Xandarian Worldmind who intern activated the Death's Head robots that fought off the Skrulls attacking PEGASUS and their ship above. Meanwhile in Minneapolis, She-Hulk and Jazin-da clashed with Skrull invasion forces there. Trying to head up north to Canada to find Jazinda's ship to contact the Skrulls and in-form them that they have Nogor as their prisoner, the pair were at-tacked by the Kl'rt the Super-Skrull. Kl'rt had come not only to liberate Nogor, but to slay his daughter Jazinda for bringing dishonor to her family. However despite his efforts to slay his own daughter, She-Hulk convinced Kl'rt that he was only really mad about his son being dead and the Super-Skrull gave up his fight and left with Nogor.

In the Appalachian Mountains, the New Warriors and Counter Force fought Skrulls who were attacking one of the last remaining SHIELD helicarriers, saving the crew on board. They had come to deter-mine if the corpse of deceased members Night Thrasher (Dwayne Taylor), Namorita and Microbe in light of the Skrull invasion, their current leader the new Night Threasher believed that his brother might had been replaced by a Skrull during the Stamford Disaster that caused the super-hero Civil War months earlier. However they determined that the corpses were that of their dead teammates and gave them a proper burial.

After his plane had crashed in New Mexico, 3-D Man was going to be rescued by Maverick's member "She-Thing", however he recog-nized the Skrull impostor, but be-fore she could attack "She-Thing" was killed by Ryder and Riot the last surviving members of the Skrull Kill Krew. With the assis-tance of Charlie Chandler and his family, the 3-D Man joined the Skrull Kill Krew and joined them on a cross-country mission to destroy all the Skrull infiltrators within the Initiative. Their first stop was to slay Blacksmith of the Desert Stars. With each exposition of a Skrull infiltrator the various members of the each Initiative team then joined up with the Kill Krew. They then began clearing out the Skrulls hid-ing out in the states of Nevada, Utah, Montana, Philadelphia, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Wis-consin, Florida, Washington, and Texas. Learning that the Skrulls were attempting to use the Nega-tive Zone receiving towers as a doomsday weapon to destroy America, Initiative members Whiz Kid and Spinner were sent to de-stroy the receiving towers using their super-speed abilities.

In Atlanta, the Skrulls attacked a baseball game and were opposed by the mercenary known as Dead-pool. Deadpool managed to crip-ple the Skrull forces but to their surprise offered to join their cause instead. Deadpool then allowed them to experiment on him and create Super-Skrulls that could replicate Deadpool's healing factor making essentially unkillable Skrull warriors. However Deadpool be-gan training them and instead of being useful warriors they became mostly insane. This however was all part of a plan as Deadpool was working to steal intel from the Skrulls for Nick Fury. Deadpool then fought off another Super-Skrull, and the Skrulls eventually realized how they had been tricked: when duplicating Dead-pool's healing factor they forgot to take into account the reason why his healing works is due to the cancer that has infected his sys-tem. Without the cancer as a cata-lyst to keep the healing factor un-der control, the Skrulls endowed with Deadpool's healing factor be-gan to grow into horribly deformed Skrulls unabel to move. Deadpool then killed the other Skrulls and began to transmit the data to Fury, however it was intercepted by Norman Osborn.

At the Cube facility, Noh-Varr the Marvel Boy managed to take over the facility, however when the Skrull virus infected the Cube, he found Skrull infiltrators inside. Breaking out of the prison, Noh-Varr crossed paths with the mortal-ly wounded "Captain Marvel" who revealing his Skrullian origins con-vinced Noh-Varr to fight for the people of Earth.

In the state of Oregon, Skrulls ini-tially had the upper hand with little to no super-human interference until they were shut down by the Agents of Atlas.

Skrull commander K'vvvr was charged with attacking the African nation of Wakanda and destroy the Vibranium there. However his infil-trators were almost all discovered by Black Panther and his wife Storm, the rulers of Wakanda. Then using Wakandan technology, the Black Panther crippled the Skrull invasion fleet and their en-ergy weapons forcing them to fight in hand to hand combat. Black Panther then led his people in bat-tle against the Skrulls. The Black Panther and Storm held their own against the Super-Skrull operatives while the warriors of Wakanda dealt with the regular invaders. However a lone Skrull infiltrator escaped discovery and was able to capture both the Panther and his queen. However this was all a ruse as the Black Panther and Storm had really used Wakandan tech-nology to make two captured Skrulls look like them. When K'vvvr realized this during torture he was too late to stop the Panther and Storm, who slew him and the rest of his army soon fell at the hands of the people of Wakanda. The Black Panther then had all the Skrull bodies put aboard the Skrull ship and sent it back out into space. Painted on one of the walls in the command center in blood was the warning "This is what hap-pens when you invade Wakanda" as a warning to other would be invaders from beyond the stars.

In Russia, the Skrulls attempted to take control of the nuclear weap-ons found in that country in the hopes of using them against the human race. They found opposi-tion from the Winter Guard. War Machine, after destroying Skrull ships orbiting the Earth, came to the Winter Guard's aid but his as-sistance was refused. Ignoring demands to leave Russian soil, War Machine fought against Skrull forces but was soon captured and found himself on a Skrull examina-tion table. With his life support fail-ing, War Machine managed to break free and fight his way to his armor, saving his life. Destroying the Skrull ship, War Machine then returned to help Winter Guard in the battle once again. Facing de-feat, one of the Skrulls attempted to overload his powers to destroy the area and set off the nuclear weapons, however War Machine grabbed the Skrull and flew him high into the air where exploded harmlessly.

London and Otherworld
At some point prior to the Skrull invasion, Joint Intelligence Com-mittee of the United Kingdom di-rector Mortimer Grimsdale was replaced with a Skrull. When the invasion kicked off this infiltrator used his position to slay all of the Skrull Beatles except for Skrull John who was rescued by Pete Wisdom. They then joined heroes Captain Britain, Black Knight, Spit-fire and the newly empowered Faiza Hussain in trying to stop the Skrull invaders from destroying the Siege Perilous the doorway into the mystical realm of Otherworld. They failed and Captain Britain was seemingly slain trying to stop the attack. With the Siege Perilous destroyed, the Skrulls -- whose mission it was to take over all mag-ic -- used their own portals to gain access to Otherworld convinced that they would not have opposition from Britain's heroes. However Wisdom called upon the help of his estranged wife Tink the fairy to gain access to Otherworld. There they helped Tink's father Oberon defend Otherworld from the Skrulls. However they were unable to stop the Skrulls from slaying the Lady of the Lake and the Green Knight and gather the mystical arti-facts they needed to create a Su-per-Skrull that was entirely magic based to destroy London.

While Britain's heroes defended London, Pete Wisdom was drawn to a portal where the wizard Merlin the Magician was trapped after being infected by the Fury. Wisdom freed Merlin but also many de-mons that were trapped there as well. Merlin then resurrected Cap-tain Britain and armed him with the sword Excalibur to defend London. While Captain Britain fought against the mystical Super-Skrull, the rest of his comrades were cap-tured by the Skrull army and Skrull John was executed for betraying his people. Before the rest of the group could be slain they were rescued by Satannish and a horde of demons. Satannish, grateful to Wisdom for freeing him and the other demons and granted Wis-dom a boon. Wisdom uttered the words "No more Skrulls" and the demon used his magics to inciner-ate all the Skrulls in the United Kingdom, ending the conflict there.

The Human Torch, Thing as well as Franklin and Valeria Richards found themselves trapped in the Negative Zone by Lyja, the Torch's estranged wife who sought re-venge against Johnny for aban-doning her for years. While the Thing protected the children from creatures from the Negative Zone, Johnny and Lyja fought it out but soon gave up on trying to kill each other and instead rekindled their romance before they were at-tacked by a massive jellyfish like creature. Johnny saved Lyja's life and returned her to the ruins of the Baxter Building. There Franklin deduced that their only way out of the Negative Zone was to seek out one of the many genius villains locked up in Prison 42. Going to the prison, Johnny, Lyja and the Thing freed the Tinkerer who agreed to help them return home out of sympathy for Franklin and Valeria. However before they left Lyja decided that she would stay in the Negative Zone to find a new life. After bidding the Torch fare-well, the displaced heroes returned themselves to the positive matter universe.

On yet another front, the pantheon gods of Earth were at risk of being destroyed an enslaved by the Skrull deities much like other pan-galactic gods across the universe. Athena then called upon the Coun-cil of Godheads to meet and ad-dress the problem. They then se-lected champions to travel to the realm of the Skrull gods and com-bat them there. The group selected the Greek god Hercules and his human ally Amadeus Cho, Snow-bird of the Inua, the Eternal Ajak was chosen to represent the Apu gods, Amatsu-Mikaboshi of the Amatsu-Kami, and Atum aka the Demogorge to do battle against the Skrull gods Sl'gurt't and Kly'bn. The group fought their way through Nightmare's realm unaware that Amadeus' coyote Kirby had been replaced with a Skrull. When they arrived in the realm of the the Skrull gods Atum discovered that "Kirby" was a Skrull and slew it and they were soon attacked by the gods whom the Skrulls had en-slaved during centuries past. The enslaved gods were vanquished thanks largely to Snowbird, who seemingly sacrificed her life trans-forming into Neooqtoq to destroy their attackers. At first the so-called God Squad proved to be no match for the two Skrull deities. However it was not until Amadeus pretended to abandon Hercules did the Gre-cian put in his all into the battle. Ultimately, Sl'gurt't was slain by Amatsu-Mikaboshi and Kly'bn slain by Snowbird. The Skrulls realm was then shattered by a blow from Hercules that was so powerful eve-ry Skrull idol of worship across the universe exploded. This gathering of gods managed to strike the greatest blow against the Skrull invasion: a blow against their faith.

In the Savage Land, Reed Richards and Abigail Brand landed in the area and Reed used his device to reveal who among the gathered heroes were Skrulls. The com-bined Avengers teams, the Thun-derbolts, members of the Initiative, and the Secret Warriors joined forces for a final battle against the Skrulls in Central Park. During the final battle, Luke Cage's wife Jes-sica Jones left their child Denielle in the care of the Skrull Jarvis while she joined the battle in Central Park. It was also here that Criti Noll revealed herself to be a Skrull pos-ing as Yellowjacket. As the heroes began gaining the upper hand, Noll activated a device that effect-ed the Wasp's powers making her into a massive doomsday weapon to kill the heroes, however her fel-low Avenger Thor was forced to slay her to save the others. In the final push the battle was suddenly one when Norman Osborn was able to fire the shot that killed Veranke. With their leader killed the Skrulls were easily defeated and the remainder of their fleet in space destroyed. The heroes of Earth also found a ship containing all their detained comrades. When Jarvis was found among the cap-tured, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage rushed back to Avengers Tower to find that the Skrull posing as Jarvis had disappeared with their child. Meanwhile, Criti Noll survived the battle and attempted to use super-speed to return to Camp Hammond. He was fol-lowed initially by the Crusader and then by the rest of the Initiative and the Skrull Kill Krew. While the Cru-sader slew Criti Noll, 3-D Man eliminated the Skrull posing as Dum Dum Dugan. In the aftermath of the battle, 3-D Man suddenly saw the Crusader for the Skrull that he was -- and not realizing that Z'Reg was loyal to Earth -- shot him dead. Dying Z'Reg wished that things happened differently and was teleported away by his ring. While a lot of Skrulls were captured as prisoners of war, many ended up being captured or managed to escape.

Interestingly enough, the Skrull/Cow hybrids that had been breeding for years had reached enough of a population and awareness that they were known to the United States government. These Skrulls had managed to integrate into nearly every aspect of Earth society, particular the me-dia. For immunity and to keep their existence a secret, the Earth born Skrulls agreed to boost support against the alien Skrull invaders through the media.

Following the defeat of the Skrulls, the head of homeland security was appointed to Norman Osborn, who was now a hero for killing Veranke. He then disbanded SHIELD and created his own organization called HAMMER, many of the sur-viving Skrulls who were captured were handed over to this organiza-tion for questioning. One Skrull prisoner was literally fed to Venom by Osborn. Immediately after the the invasion, Luke Cage and his fellow New Avengers began look-ing for the Skrull who posed as Jarvis in order to find his daughter. Although they managed to find a Skrull hiding among a number of former S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, they were unable to learn the location of "Jarvis", forcing Cage to make a deal with Norman Osborn. Cage was given access to one of the Skrull prisoners who was tortured into revealing the Skrull invaders secret warehouse meeting place, the most likely spot where "Jarvis" could have went to get off the planet, however he could only do so with someone operating the teleportation system for him. Cage went to the warehouse and was able to find "Jarvis" and his daugh-ter. Luke then agreed to help the Skrull return home in exchange for his daughter. However when "Jar-vis" handed the baby over he was shot in the head by Bullseye who was hiding in a nearby building with a sniper rifle. Norman Osborn had imprisoned Elektra to learn why the Skrulls experimented and tortured her when their other cap-tives were relatively unharmed. However before he could succeed in learning this information Elektra escaped captivity. Osborn then pulled two captive Skrulls for in-formation, torturing them in order to learn that the Skrulls were trying to learn Elektra's ability to resurrect herself after death. He then contin-ued to torture them to learn when Elektra was replaced, and eventu-ally murdered the prisoners in front of H.A.M.M.E.R. accountants to show them the price of disobeying his wishes.

Meanwhile in space, a fleet of Skrulls trying to escape Earth were pursued by the Inhumans into space. They were followed into the Arkano Nebula where they the fleet was wiped out by Black Bolt using a weapon that amplified his de-structive voice. Following the de-feat of their empire a group of Skrulls decided to become paci-fists and found a new would-be god in Beta Ray Bill. Bill attempted to help them find shelter from S'Kaan a surviving Skrull Godkiller. Beta Ray Bill defeated S'Kaan but his life was spared. The Skrullian Monks then healed him and con-vinced that Beta Ray Bill was not their new god, but a agent of this force they healed S'Kaan who as-sisted them in setting up a new home aboard the Remnants star base. Many slain Skrulls became the power source for the Kree Ba-bel Spire defense system.

Back on Earth, Ryder of the Skrull Kill Krew discovered the Skrull Cows hiding in society and be-came devoted to hunting them down and destroying them all. With his teammates slowly coming back to life, Ryder sought out the aid of HAMMER scientist Viola Reichardt to examine his DNA. She learned that the Kill Krew members were not only coming back to life, but becoming Skrulls themselves. Meanwhile, Ryder went to Los An-geles where he found an entire group of young Cow-Skrulls who used a night club to lure humans to slaughter, killing them all. Ryder and the resurrected Riot then went after another Skrull nightclub called the Reverse Rodeo where Skrulls rode human beings like cattle in a faux-rodeo. As the rest of the Krew was coming back to life, Riot soon soon began dating a Skrull she met. The Krew was then manipulated by Moonstomp into attacking a restaurant full of Skrulls where Riot and her date were. They were assisted by a Skrull who was posing as Wolverine. After the Krew slaughtered Skrulls on the Stampede web series, the Cow-Skrulls sent an entire army to their home for revenge, but they too were slaughtered by the Krew. The crew slaughtered another restau-rant full of Skrulls, prompting the Cow-Skrull elite to press their in-fluence to get H.A.M.M.E.R. and Norman Osborn to act. Osborn then called a meeting with the Skrulls the Kill Krew appeared again and slew the entire group of cow Skrulls before going into hid-ing again.

Another Skrull who evaded capture during the invasion was Koru Kaviti who fled to the nation of Madripoor with another Skrull who posed as Spider-Man. SWORD agent Abigail Brand recruited Spider-Woman to eliminate Kavitti. Upon arriving in Madripoor, Spider-Woman was attacked by the Skrull posing as Spider-Man and managed to slay it. Later on her mission, Spider-Woman was approached and of-fered a position in Hydra again by Madam Hydra. As a gift, Madam Hydra allowed Spider-Woman to do what she saw fit with a Skrull that Hydra managed to capture during the Skrull invasion. When the Skrull refused to talk it tried to attack her and she was forced to slay it. Ultimately, Spider-Woman managed to track Koru to a local bar and after an epic battle man-aged to slay the Skrull with the help of her fellow New Avengers. Back in the United States the mutant terrorist Mystique discovered an abandoned Super-Skrull facility where a number of failed attempts to create a Skrull impostor of Cap-tain Marvel. She released one of these Mar-Vell Super-Skrulls an unleashed him on Ms. Marvel in Seattle. This Skrull violently ex-ploded in the skies above Wash-ington State when his powers over-loaded. A Skrull who survived the battle in the Savage Land acci-dentally set off a S.H.I.E.L.D. alert while working in the area bringing Mockingbird and the new Dominic Fortune to the region. Exposing the phony Skrull, Mockingbird burned their bodies.

Klobok soon resurfaced and used his arcane knowledge to try and re-establish a bond with the es-tranged Dire Wraiths in an attempt to reform the Skrull Empire. How-ever by this time the Dire Wraiths had been banished to Limbo, and so Klobok made a mystical spell to bring the Wraithworld from Limbo. This threatened to destroy the planet Galador home of the Spaceknights. A group of interga-lactic heroes calling themselves the Annihilators came to Galadors aid, unaware that Klobok had infil-trated them by posing as Doctor Dredd. Although Wraithworld was brought back to Earth, Klobok was slain in battle and the Wraiths made peace with their longtime foes the Galadorians. Back on Earth, former Avengers Wonder Man gathered a group of super-humans to fight his former com-rades called the Revengers. Among the group’s members was Virtue who returned to costumed heroics after being a faith healer.

Another group of Skrulls who fled the losing invasion resurfaced and tried to return home. Manipulating the young X-Man known as Pixie they managed to break into the Baxter Building and Horizon Labs to gain access to a hidden Skrull ship. However their leader Nazum sought to get revenge against Earth and unleashed Skrull war machines. While the X-Men and the Future Foundation fought the devices, Pixie and Spider-Man worked together to stop the Skrulls whom Pixie allowed to leave with-out further harm. The Skrull de-serted left Nazum on a uninhabited world. A number of Skrull corpses that were taken during the invasion ended up in the custody of a newly reformed S.H.I.E.L.D. These corpses were stolen by Madame Hydra when she raided a S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse. Their pos-sible use is unknown at this time.

Not long after a group of Skrulls returned to Earth and captured Captain America and Cyclops, who at the time were bitter enemies. Commander K'thron warned them that Cadre K had returned to Earth and were planning another Skrull invasion. The pair put aside their differences the pair used S.H.I.E.L.D. resources to learn that a surviving Skrull invader was cap-tured by Dr. Doom and was being held captive in Latveria. The pair fought their way into Castle Doom-stadt. Doom eventually allowed them to take the captured Skrull, but refused to let it leave alive. However this Skrull was faking it and upon bringing him back to the United States, the Skrull led the two heroes to a Brysons Bison Burgers chain that -- with the help of Ant-Man, Emma Frost and the Stepford Cuckoos -- discovered that all the staff were Skrulls. Stranger still, the bison beef served at the restaurant was all based on mutant Skrull DNA. They tracked the source of the beef to Sagittariuan Farms in South Dakota. There they discov-ered that Cadre K had taken over the ranch and used it as a front to collect the last of the Cow-Skrull hybrids in order to prevent them from being slaughtered and pre-vent the human food supply from being tainted by DNA altering Skrull meet. Realizing Cadre K's altruistic intents, the Avengers and Cyclops's X-Men defended them from Dr. Doom, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and the Skrulls that sent Cyclops and Captain America on their mis-sion to begin with. The duo man-aged to convince all three parties that Cadre K posed no threat to the world.

Following the invasion, the Skrull Empire was broken up and ruled by different warlords which includ-ed Kl'rt, My'rl, Dm'yr, Gy'pl. When the Builders, ancient aliens who claim to have created all existence, deemed that Earth should be de-stroyed, they sent a massive inva-sion fleet to attack the Earth, de-stroying various worlds as they passed. This swath of destruction also included the Skrull world Hy'lt Minor, slaying two-hundred billion Skrulls including warlord Dm'yr. A group of Skrulls fled to Earth and managed to slip through S.W.O.R.D. defenses. However they were quickly apprehended by the Avengers.

Kl'rt was selected as the warrior to represent the entire Skrull Empire when they went to the planet No-mad to join the Galactic Council to join a coalition of alien races which included the Kree, the Shi'ar, the Brood, Spartoi, and various other races including the Avengers. However when they set up an am-bush for the Builders in a sector of space called the Corridor the Council was overpowered and they were forced to retreat. They re-grouped over the Skrull agricultural world of Whaan Prime, but the Builders followed them there and unleashed a plague upon the world. While the Council members tried to save as many of the Skrulls on the planet surface, billions still died.

The Council retreated to the Be-hemoth Ringworld to regroup, but were forced to retreat when the ruler of the Spartoi betrayed their location to the Builders the planet was attacked forcing another evacuation. One hundred million refugees died in the attack, many of whom were Skrull survivors who fled previous attacks. After re-grouping Kl'rt sided with the other Council members to allow Captain America to take the lead in. Cap in turn suggested that they surrender. However this surrender was a false front and allowed the Avengers Thor to slay the Builder who had just taken over the Kree throne-world of Hala. The Skrull armies were involved in the following skirmishes that saw the Council begin to regain ground and liberate planets under the Builders' rule, but the Skrulls saw heavy casualties. However many worlds were liber-ated and eventually the coalition, under Captain America's com-mand, eventually beaten back the Builders and their path of destruc-tion. Learning that Earth was now under attack by the forces of Thanos, Kl'rt lent his own warriors to help liberate the Earth, a plant that his people tried to enslave months earlier. After an attack on Thanos' forces on the Saturnian moon of Titan, Skrull forces at-tacked the armadas of Thanos in Earth's orbit. Learning that one of Thanos' agents, Black Dwarf now controlled the SWORD space sta-tion, Super-Skrull personally joined, Shi'ar leader Gladiator, Ro-nan the Accuser, and Annihilius in slaying him. With the path to Earth cleared, the Avengers ultimately defeated Thanos and his followers. With the threat of both Thanos and the Builders over, the Skrull Empire reformed with Tarnax II becoming the new throneworld and Kl'rt being crowned the new emperor of the Skrulls.

well there is a minimum word count that must be maintained. Jab can't support it all by himself. ;)
