KNOWN POWERS:
Hex Spheres: This Power is a unique and formidable type of Matter and Energy Control that causes unlikely events to occur to the target. Wanda cannot cause the impossible to happen (she cannot create objects from nothing or nullify gravity, for example) but her power is otherwise limited only by her imagination. For example, she can cause a device to suddenly malfunction, cause an object to collapse or fall apart, or deflect projectiles or energy bolts in flight.

In play the player running the Scarlet Witch should describe the desired event to the Judge such as "I want Kang's force field to overload and short out." The Judge assigns the intensity of the FEAT. The Judge can rule that the event re-quires a successful Power Stunt. Wanda's hex sphere is capable of affecting materials up to Class 1000 material strength, such as Adamantium. In many adventures, Wanda's hex has delivered the coup de grace to the Avengers' foe (such as when she caused a mountain peak to collapse and entomb the demon Chthon, or when she cracked Ultron's body armor on two occasions).

Since she began formal training with Agatha Harkness, Wanda's control over her hex spheres has steadily improved. At present, she uses this power at Amazing (50) rank.

Magical Abilities: Wanda's hex spheres have seemed magical in effect, and some have assumed that she was a true sorceress. She also has the potential to wield powerful magic. She only has a small number of power stunts all at the Remarkable (30) rank.

Sorcery – formerly: Wanda was possessed by the Elder Demon Chthon. While possessed Chthon did not have access to Wanda’s Hex power. It instead relied upon its inherent magical abilities. Chthon is a Master level spell caster. He may use any listed Power as a spell. He uses these abilities at the Amazing (50) level, He must pay a cost in Karma equal to the rank of the effect he wishes to simulate

TALENTS: Mystic Background; Occult Lore

CONTACTS: Avengers, X-Men, Young Avengers

HISTORY
Wanda Maximoff was kidnapped from Serbia and brought to Wundagore Mountain, base of the High Evolutionary. For years, she and her twin brother, Pietro, believed that they were the children of Romany couple, Django and Mar-ya Maximoff. The High Evolutionary supposedly abducted the twins when they were babies, experimented on them, and after becoming disgusted with the results, he returned them to Wundagore, disguised as regular mutants.

As adolescents, Wanda and Pietro discovered that they had unusual superhuman abilities. When Django began to steal food to feed his starving family, enraged villagers attacked the Romani camp. Using his phenomenal speed, Pietro fled from the camp with his sister. The circumstances of their separation from their family were so traumatic that not until well into adulthood could they remember anything but the barest details of their child-hood. For the next few years, Wanda and Pietro wandered central Europe, living off the land.

They were later recruited into Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and, as the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, fought the X-Men on several occasions. At the time, none of the three were aware of the siblings' paternity.

They soon abandoned their terrorist activities, while Magneto was imprisoned by the Stranger, and joined the Avengers. The remaining founding members had all gone on a leave of absence, leaving Captain America to lead an all-new lineup including Wanda, Pietro, and the archer known as Hawkeye. By then, the Scarlet Witch would have rather become an actress, but she never had a chance to pursue such a career. They left the Avengers after the Scarlet Witch lost her powers and Quicksilver was shortly influenced by Magneto again.

The Scarlet Witch then began a quest to recover her powers by studying grimoires, with Quicksilver and the Toad supporting her. Her studies accidentally summoned extra-dimensional called Arkon, who kidnapped the Witch to make her his bride, the Toad when he opposed, and then a number of Earth-born scientists in an attempt to use atomic power to save his own world Polemachus even by destroying Earth. Quicksilver gained the help of the Avengers, the Avengers managed to save Polemachus without damaging Earth, Arkon ceased any further violence against Earth and renounced to the Scarlet Witch be-cause she had convinced him of the importance of small things. Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch then resumed their membership with the Avengers. The Toad chose to remain at Polemachus.

Not long after the birth of Quicksilver's first child, Wanda and Pietro learned a secret about their parentage, that Magneto was allegedly their true father.

Although she became more adept in her power's use, Wanda did not realize that she was tapping into genuine magic. It was believed that the Scarlet Witch would have been an ordinary energy manipulator or perhaps simply able to cause bad luck if not due to Chthon's attempt to use her as a pawn.

Wanda fell in love with the synthezoid Vision, an artificial being created by Avengers foe Ultron who joined the team rather than fight them. The Scarlet Witch eventually married her teammate, the android Vision, not realizing that they were being manipulated by Immortus, who sought to prevent Wanda from having a child (Wanda was actually a key figure, or nexus being, to her reality, and her children would have power to shake the foundations of the universe).

Wanda eventually drew on magic energy to give birth to twin sons, Tommy and Billy, but this energy was eventually revealed to have come from the demon Mephisto, who reabsorbed them, effectively ending their existence. Agatha Harkness cast a spell to make her forget her children in order to ease her pain. Though Wanda later re-called her loss, she suppressed this memory over the long term. After his reformation, The Vision and Wanda no longer shared the closeness they once had.

While both were serving as members of the Avengers West Coast, Wanda also grew to love Wonder Man, the man whose brain patterns had been used to form the Vision's mind. Both were among the former AWC members who opted to form Force Works after the team's dissolution. As the leader of this new team, Wanda used a 'hex main-frame' computer designed by Iron Man. Through her powers and the computer's calculations, they could proactively determine where the team was most needed rather than react to an alarm or breaking news. Although Wanda was appointed team leader, she often clashed with Iron Man overriding her orders. She was deeply saddened by Wonder Man's death on the first mission of Force Works.

After rejoining the Avengers, she used her increased powers to resurrect Wonder Man, although his ionic energy likely made him able to be restored. For some time, Wonder Man was mostly a cloud of ionic energy that Wanda had to summon.

Training with Agatha Harkness increased Wanda's control of her 'Chaos Magic'. Even after Agatha died her astral form continued to assist Wanda. However, at least some of this training may have been an illusion made by Wanda herself.

In years after, Wanda remained in her role as a longtime Avengers mainstay, salvaging her relation-ship with the Vision as best she could - although sparks also appeared with Captain America to-wards the end of her Avengers tenure - the moment she brought the team to its lowest moment ever recorded.

The Scarlet Witch seemingly gained powerful reality-altering abilities from "Chaos Magic"; how-ever, this proved to be an uncontrolled aspect of her mutant power and created a great mental strain on her. An unintentional remark by teammate Wasp about Wanda's lost children apparently drove her over the edge. She suffered a nervous breakdown and lashed out with her new power, subjecting the Avengers to a savage assault and apparently killing Agatha Harkness and some of her teammates. Others were injured or affected by various odd outbursts and incidents. The remaining Avengers gathered including a number of reservists.

Doctor Strange appeared, sensing abuse of magic, and angry that he had not been notified of Wanda's recent problems. Strange was forced to use the Eye of Agamotto on Wanda, which apparently showed her a memory so horrible she went into a catatonic state. Magneto suddenly appeared to collect his daughter, and brought her to Genosha so Professor X could help her.

Unfortunately, Xavier was unable to do so as Wanda attempted to restore her husband to life and undo the damage she had caused. Keeping Wanda in a comatose state, Xavier ultimately called a meeting between the Avengers and X-Men to decide whether or not Wanda should be killed. Quicksilver was horrified at the fact that Xavier seriously considered killing Wanda and convinced Wanda to take desperate action to keep this from happening: By using her powers, Wanda warped reality into the House of M, a world where mutants were the majority, humans the minority, and Magneto the ruler (simultaneously giving various other heroes what they wanted most, hoping this would prevent them rebelling). In this reality, Wanda was believed to be a human, due to an alternate body she created to represent her in public while she cared for her children in private.

A young mutant named Layla Miller (a deformed mutant who was given a normal body thanks to Wanda's reality warp) was able to use her mutant abilities to restore several of the heroes' memories. Meanwhile Wolverine (the only person who sensed the reality's "wrongness") and a resurrected Hawkeye (who had been seemingly killed during Wanda's breakdown) and Cloak gathered these heroes into an assault force to try to restore reality. This ragtag army headed to Genosha to attack Magneto, believing him to be the one responsible for the change. During the battle between Magneto's forces and the others, Layla was able to restore Magneto's memories; as well, Wanda confessed to Dr. Strange that it was Quicksilver, not Magneto, who had initiated the reality warp.

Enraged, Magneto confronted Quicksilver, angry that Quicksilver had done all of this in his name. Quicksilver told Magneto that he would have let Wanda die. Magneto replied that Quicksilver had only used him and Wanda. He then killed Quicksilver.

Wanda revived her brother, telling Magneto that Quicksilver had only wanted him to be happy and that Magneto had ruined them, choosing the mutants over his own children. She further denounced Xavier and in three words "No more mutants" Wanda changed the world back to its original form but added the mass de-powering of 90% of the entire mutant population, thus being responsible for many deaths. Surviving mutants and ex-mutants referred to this as "M-Day: The worst day in mutant history."

After the fallout, the resurrected Clint Barton tracked Wanda to a small village near Wundagore Mountain, where he unknowingly saved her from a thief. Wanda was living in a small apartment with her only relative, her "Aunt Agatha" (who was never seen, but could possibly have been a manifestation of Wanda's now-dead mentor Agatha Harkness; Wanda also mentioned this to Beast, saying she was stuck out here for purposes of looking after an "elderly relative" who would worry if she got home late, indicating that this aunt indeed existed in some form). She appeared to be powerless and believed that she had lived her entire life in the village. She did not recognize Hawkeye, nor did she remember her life with the Avengers or other events. Wanda told Hawkeye that he was her "hero" for dealing with the thief and kissed him, and they spent the night together. The following morning, while Wanda was sleeping, Hawkeye became curious about the next room where "Aunt Agatha" was supposedly sleeping, but the doorknob appeared to shift away from his hands, a subtle reality manipulation usually associated with the Scarlet Witch. However, Clint looked back to see that Wanda was still asleep.

The mutant Beast later found Wanda at the same village and sought her help to deal with the aftermath of M-Day. She had no memory of him either, and claimed that she did not believe in magic.

The Young Avengers Wiccan and Speed decided to find Wanda, as Wiccan wanted to know once and for all if she was indeed their mother. They traveled to several places connected to Wanda and themselves in their search, but Wiccan was unable to detect any sign of Wanda's magic. Wiccan and Speed united to search for her around the planet, but both ultimately failed, though they were told by Master Pandemonium that they had to cease their quest to seek her, lest risk unleashing the darkness of the Witch's past yet again.

Later, the Asgardian god Loki, concealed in an astral form by simple spells and illusions, disguised her-self as Wanda and assembled a new team of Mighty Avengers to be led by Hank Pym to oppose the demon Chthon. Chthon was eventually banished back to his own dimension, and his human vessel Quicksilver was released from his control. Loki's goal was to prevent another god of chaos from laying siege to the Nine Worlds and cracking Norman Osborn's armor to quicken his fall. She continued to assemble the Mighty Avengers, who remained unaware of Loki's involvement.

None were aware that the true Wanda had yet to reemerge from seclusion, as only Clint Barton, Beast and higher powers than they, such as the Living Tribunal or Uatu knew of her status. Quicksilver, having joined the Mighty Avengers, sought to use his position on the team to find her, a desire not missed by the impassive Loki. Pym also wanted to use Pietro in turn to solve the mysterious return of Wanda Maximoff.

Agamotto later detected her presence and displays her as one of thirty possible candidates for the role of Sorcerer Supreme through his Eye, but due to her apparent lack of magic and past instability refrained from selecting her, in-stead choosing Brother Voodoo to fill the position.

Wanda was found in Latveria by her alleged son Wiccan. She seemingly lost all her memories and powers and was engaged to Victor von Doom. Billy told her about who she was, and what she did. He also told her about her twin sons, and almost told about his suspicions that he and Tommy Shepherd are actually her reincarnated sons. His story was interrupted by the battle between the Avengers, the Young Avengers, Magneto and Doctor Doom. Wolverine tried to kill Wanda, but was stopped by Iron Lad, who teleported the Young Avengers and Wanda into the time stream.

They all went into the past, and met reanimated Jack of Hearts, who exploded. After that Wanda remembered who she is, and re-gained her powers and returned herself, the Young Avengers and Scott Lang to the present. She then finally confirmed that Billy and Tommy are indeed her reincarnated sons.

Realizing that her sons are alive Wanda met with X-Factor and re-powered Rictor, planning to restore powers of all de-powered mutants who wants it.

It was revealed that Wanda's ability was brought about when Doctor Doom assisted her in becoming a conduit for Life Force itself, in an effort to recreate her children. The power was too great for her to control, leading to her breakdown. Doom stole Wanda's power and became omnipotent, but while battling the Avengers and the X-Men, his powers overloaded, leaving him with his scarred face again and powerless. Unable to continue the battle, he teleported himself away. The X-Men agreed to leave her be, Magneto and Quicksilver both wished to spend time with her as a family and Captain America offered her a spot in the Avengers but Wanda declined saying she needed to be alone.

Wanda played a key role during the events featured in AvX. After defeating both M.O.D.O.K. and A.I.M. with the help of Ms. Marvel and Spider-Woman, she visited Avengers Mansion but was not welcomed by Vision. She then began to have visions of the Phoenix Force; and during one of those visions, she foresaw a future in which the Phoenix killed the original Avengers.

Believing the Mutant Messiah to be the key to defeating the Phoenix Five, which consisted of the Phoenix Avatars Cyclops, Emma, Namor, Magik and Colossus, the Avengers launched an operation to extract Hope from Utopia. If it wasn't for Wanda, they would have been defeated by Cyclops. Wanda convinced Hope to go with the Avengers, as Cyclops vowed that he would no longer tolerate the Avengers.

After a confrontation between the Avengers and the Phoenix Five, in which Wanda defeated Magik, she began to train Hope with Spider-Man's help in Wakanda, but the Phoenix Five decided to take Hope back with them. Hope revealed that Wanda was the only Avenger the X-Men feared and respected. Doc-tor Strange gave Amulets of Illusion to different Avengers to make them appear as Wanda when she wasn't present, in hopes of scaring the Phoenix Five. It worked to a degree and bought the other Avengers time to complete missions across the globe. The Phoenix Five began to suspect the many-Wandas were an illusion, so Namor decided to attack one of them. Much to his disappointment, she was the real Scarlet Witch and she defeated him. Namor then led the Atlanteans into war against Wakanda, and nearly defeated all of the Avengers, until Wanda showed up and defeated him.

Meanwhile Iron Fist had taken Hope and Wolverine to K'un-Lun to hide and prepare for a confrontation with the Phoenix Five.

When Cyclops learned of their lo-cation, he decided to travel there and take Hope back with him, but Hope used Wanda's and Shao Lao the dragon's power to send him to the Moon. After a brief confrontation between Hope and Wanda, which was stopped by Captain America, the Avengers came to realize Cyclops had become the sole-wielder of the Phoenix Force. Cyclops took the title Dark Phoenix after killing Professor X.

The Dark Phoenix began to burn the world so Wanda and Hope decided to join forces in order to stop him. Together, they managed to take down Dark Phoenix. The Phoenix escaped Cyclops's body and entered Hope's. Hope used its power to reverse the damage and destruction caused by Dark Phoenix and restore the mutant population. Then, as Wanda had once used her powers to wish away mutants by uttering the words, "No more mutants," Wanda and Hope joined their powers and wished, "No more Phoenix." It is unknown if Phoenix was destroyed or merely banished from the Earth by the spell.

While visiting Charles Xavier's grave, Wanda was approached by Rogue who tried to make her leave. The two wound up fighting, when they were captured by the Red Skull. The Red Skull also took Xavier's corpse and cut out his brain, claiming his vast telepathic powers for himself. The Red Skull then used his powers to brainwash Wanda into helping him de-power mutant-kind once again. While tracking down Rogue who had escaped his custody, Wanda encountered Xavier's corpse which snapped her out of the Skull's control. Scarlet Witch and Rogue were mentally controlled into allowing being executed by the mentally-controlled mutant-hating crowd Red Skull gathered, but snapped back once the Avengers Unity Division appeared to fight Shmidt. After Red Skull and his S-Men es-caped, Wanda and Rogue joined the Avengers Unity Division.

During a mission involving the Apocalypse Twins, Wanda was killed by Rogue who thought she had betrayed the team. Her death was undone when Havok and the surviving members of the Unity Squad were sent from the future by Kang to stop the twins from destroying Earth, their minds project-ed back into their past selves so that they could transfer most of their powers to Rogue and give her the strength to fight back. After the crisis was over, Rogue was in the process of being driven mad by all the heroes she had absorbed. The Scarlet Witch cast a spell to return those powers to their owners, although Rogue still retained the powers and the very essence she absorbed from Wonder Man.

Months after the battle against the Twins, Wanda, Rogue and Alex were abducted by Red Skull's S-Men and taken to his reeducation camps in Genosha. After escaping, they encountered Magneto also trapped in there. They broke him free and confronted the Red Skull and the S-Men.

Fueled by MGH, Magneto killed the S-Men, and beat the Red Skull to death, accidentally unleashing the Red Onslaught, the merging of the Skull with the dark and powerful Onslaught. They were soon aided by the Avengers, X-Men, and allies of both teams, who arrived to Genosha upon learning about the Red Onslaught's existence. However, the Red Onslaught deployed their own version of the Sentinels made specifically to battle heroes. In the ensuing battle against the Sentinels, the Scarlet Witch was neutralized along with numerous other heroes. After being broken free by a group of super villains gathered by Magneto to fight the Sentinels, Wanda and Doctor Doom performed a spell to invert the moral compass of the Red Skull in order to defeat him. The spell worked and the Red Onslaught was defeated, but the spell also accidentally affected every-one in Genosha, turning heroes into villains and vice versa.

Under the influence of the inversion spell, the Scarlet Witch set out to kill Doctor Doom in revenge for his manipulations. Magneto and Quicksilver joined forces to prevent Wanda from crossing the line, but failed. Using a spell meant to affect those with blood ties to her, Wanda seemingly killed Quicksilver. To her surprise, the spell didn't affect Magneto, revealing that the Master of Magnetism wasn't actually her father.

Doom briefly fled from the fight, to bring back Doctor Voodoo, who used the spirit of his brother Daniel to possess Wanda so she could "cooperate" in the conjuration of a re-inversion spell, which success-fully brought almost everyone back to normal, including the Scarlet Witch. In the wake of the conflict, the Avengers Unity Division was reassembled.

Wanda and Pietro returned to the Wundagore Mountains to find out their true parentage, and they were brought to the reformed Counter-Earth, which the High Evolutionary used to test and try to create his perfect New Men. The twins en-countered the Low Evolutionary, the leader of a resistance formed by the High Evolutionary's rejects.

After being tracked down and defeated by Luminous, a new creation by the High Evolutionary with both Quicksilver's and Scarlet Witch's powers, Wanda and Pietro were brought to the High Evolutionary himself. He revealed to them that Django and Marya Maximoff were their true parents, as well as the truth that the twins were supposedly not mutants but they had been experimented on by the High Evolutionary. After escaping from the Evolutionary's experimentations, Pietro and Wanda located the Avengers Unity Division, who had traveled to the Counter-Earth looking for the twins, and helped the inhabitants of Lowtown, a refuge for the High Evolutionary's rejects, from their creator's assault. After the High Evolutionary was forced to flee through a portal once he was defeated, the Unity Division returned to Earth.

Seeking to find her place after all the revelations of her true past, Wanda finds herself investigating a recent disruption in magic, as well as meeting the spirit of her biological mother, Natalya Maximoff (Django Maximoff's sister), who was apparently the Scarlet Witch before Wanda. When the second superhero Civil War began, Pietro came to ask Wanda for help, but Wanda refused, because she and Pietro disagreed on which side was right—Pietro not liking the idea of profiling people based on what they might do and Wanda feeling that thinking about the future would have prevented many of their more dangerous mistakes in the past. Past precedent made Wanda feel that introducing her powers to a conflict of this nature could make the situation more dangerous (plus she distrusted Tony Stark), and she resented Pietro for trying to tell her what to do as though she was a child, bluntly informing him that his refusal to learn from his mistakes marked him as a sociopath.

When Captain America launched a plan of conquest after having been secretly turned into a Hydra sleep-er agent by a sentient Cosmic Cu-be, the Scarlet Witch joined other superheroes in Washington, D.C. in trying to stop Hydra from taking control of the capital. They ultimately failed, and in the process Hydra neutralized Wanda by having her become possessed by Chthon. Under possession, Wanda became a member of Hydra's Avengers. She was eventually freed from Chthon's possession by Doctor Strange during the final battle against Hydra. After the fall of Hydra's regime, Scarlet Witch rejoined the Avengers Unity Division and helped them defeat an out-of-control Graviton.

HISTORY
Ethan Keller never knew his father and lost his mother when he was just ten years old to violence in the Lincoln neighborhood where he grew up. When the third Bowman met him a couple years later, Ethan was already involved with a Lincoln gang and tried to steal the hero’s car. He almost succeeded, too; Bowman was impressed by his talent and moved by his plight. Rather than turning Ethan over to the police and juvenile hall, he took him in and trained him as his partner, the third to use the name and costume of Arrow.

For a while, it was like a dream come true for Ethan: he went from being a poor orphan on the streets to the heroic sidekick of a superhero! He lived in a penthouse and had private tutors along with training in archery, martial arts, and criminology. For a few years, it was the best time of his young life, but then things changed.

Due to pressures in his personal and professional life, Fletcher Beaumont, Jr. (the third Bowman) relapsed into alcoholism. At first, Ethan tried to ignore it, then tried to get his mentor some help. Nothing worked, and the problems only worsened. Matters came to a head when Bowman’s drinking endangered both their lives and those of innocent civilians. That’s when Ethan decided he’d had enough: Fletcher could either own up to his problem, or they were through. In the end, Ethan walked away.

He operated solo as Arrow for a short while, then adopted a new name and costume to make a break from his past. He wouldn’t be the next Bowman; that name was tarnished and disgraced in his eyes. Instead, he called himself Archer and declared a one-man war on crime and corruption in Freedom City. Ethan felt he was getting back to his roots: fighting organized crime and gang violence in Lincoln, Southside, and the West End rather than going after costumed weirdos with crazy schemes for blackmail or world conquest.

When the Moore Act came down, Archer watched the rest of the so-called “heroes” of Freedom City walk away from their responsibilities, just like Bowman had done. But he wasn’t about to turn his city over to the criminals and corporate raiders. He sought out and recruit-ed other outcast heroes—people willing to follow his leadership and do what was right, what was necessary, even in defiance of the law. Since then, FORCE Ops has be-come both Archer’s new family to replace those he has lost, and soldiers in his cause to protect and clean up Freedom City, no matter what.

HISTORY
In the early 1940s, as the Nazi menace marched across Europe and into the Soviet Union, America and her allies engaged in furious research into the possibility of harnessing atomic energy as a weapon. One scientist involved in the project, a radical but undeniably brilliant atomic theorist named Harold Hamilton, commanded such respect among his col-leagues that he was given his own cadre of experts to explore radical ideas not wholly accepted by the scientific community at large. No one was surprised when Hamilton immolated himself in an early field test, but nearly everyone was astonished to discover that the un-conventional professor survived the blast, after a fashion.

Realizing they were out of their league, the scientists turned over Hamilton’s glowing, obviously alive brain to Scorpio-2, the secret government body then tasked with investigating paranormal and superhuman activity. Scorpio’s scientists rigged a machine to read the thoughts of the brain, which happily instructed America’s scientists on how to build the atomic weapons that would bring the Japanese to their knees.

In 1954, Scorpio scientists constructed a primitive robotic body to provide voice and ambulation to Hamilton’s brilliant mind. The now-insane Hamilton declared himself the Atomic Brain, murdering everyone in the organization’s secret Washington base. He would have triggered a nuclear strike on America itself as a proof of his genius had he not been stopped and apparently killed by Gavin Pierce, the second hero to be known as Everyman. Since then, the Atomic Brain has resurfaced numerous times, always attempting to bring the gift of radiation to the world. Though he has yet to succeed in triggering Armageddon, he reap-pears with a troubling regularity. Given his extreme intelligence, many fear it will only be so long before he succeeds.

The Atomic Brain does not suffer fools lightly, and since his extreme Intelligence ranks him among the smartest beings ever to have lived, he considers just about everyone on Earth his inferior. Rather than lament his transformation, Hamilton views his powers as a great gift which he can use to prove his genius to the world.

Even after all this time, he still harbors resentment at the rest of the scientific community, who he hates for their theft of his nuclear weapons secrets. His plots usually involve revealing those secrets by the most explosive means imaginable.

The Atomic Brain is not above en-listing the aid of lesser super villains to do his dirty work for him, but his trademark arrogance allows him to tolerate very few mistakes from his subordinates. Those who question his tactics and motivations can expect a severe dressing down in the best case and a severe case of radiation poisoning in the worst.

Because the Atomic Brain cannot trust his underlings, he tends to populate his elaborate hideouts with robotic servitors who never question his genius. On rare occasions he has kidnapped a superhero and forced him or her to do his bidding. Such prisoners usually endure painful torture and radioactive mutation in order to ensure their eternal loyalty.

HISTORY
A member of the baby-boom generation growing up in the Lincoln neighborhood of Freedom City, Wilson Jeffers didn't have much, except for his anger and outrage. He came from a poor African-American family, with a father who had been a pilot during the war, and who received a medal for it, but got nothing but grief when he came home.

Wilson ran with a tough crowd, and things might not have gone well for him, if it hadn't been for Morgan Young. He was a former heavy-weight boxing champion who was down on his luck, and Wilson impressed him with his spirit, if not his bad attitude. Morgan took the young man under his wing and got Wilson to spend his afternoons at the local gym rather than getting into trouble. He taught Wilson how to channel his anger into learning how to box; not just to brawl, but to really learn the “sweet science” of it. Wilson was a good student, and became an excellent athlete and boxers, good enough for the pros. He also did better in school, and earned himself a scholarship to Freedom College.

Not long after Wilson graduated from high school, Morgan Young ran into trouble himself with the Mob. He was heavily in debt to support his gym and the gangsters decided to make an example of him. Wilson found his mentor dying. Although he was too late to save him, he found out who was responsible. Donning a crude mask to protect his identity and his family from retaliation, he went after the Mob hit-men and brought them to justice, the way Morgan taught him. For days after, the Freedom City newspapers asked, “Who Is the Black Avenger?”

The Black Avenger became the folk hero of Lincoln, eventually joining the Freedom League. He served as both a protector of the innocent and a bastion for the cause of equal rights, not just for blacks, but all people.

Now he runs the Lincoln Youth Center and serves as a mentor to the young hero Sonic and other students at the Claremont Academy.

CONTACTS: The Black Guard

HISTORY
Rojan Lhar from the planet Aljor was among the chosen few, those worthy of becoming Star Knights, defenders of peace and justice throughout the galaxy. Sri Rojan, although an extremely capable Star Knight, faced ongoing conflicts with Mentor and the Inner Circle regarding policy and his own actions in the field. Rojan was convinced the Star Knights could accomplish more, much more, if they didn’t allow themselves to be shackled by policies of non-interference. The Grue Unity, for example, continually defied them, but the Knights did nothing to deal with the Grue, merely keeping watch over their activities and stepping in when the Grue violated interstellar law. The same was true on primitive worlds where the Star Knights did not put an end to wars, or work to uplift primitive races from superstition and barbarism, preferring to let them “develop naturally on their own.”

Sri Rojan thus took it upon himself to demonstrate to Mentor and the Star Knight Inner Circle the sort of things the Knights could accomplish. He quickly and easily conquered a primitive world in his as-signed sector of the galaxy, setting himself up as its supreme ruler and god, then set about creating order and advancing civilization. He intended to present the whole matter to the Inner Circle as a fait accompli, but another Star Knight, A’Lan Koor, discovered Rojan’s activities before he was able to complete his plans. Although Rojan attempted to convince his fellow Star Knight of the rightness of his intentions, Sri A’Lan was aghast at the celebrated knight’s violation of their code.

Desperate to avoid his inevitable punishment, and convinced his plan could still succeed, Rojan infiltrated Citadel and attempted to seize control of the Star Stone. With its power, he could bring order to the galaxy, eliminating crime, barbarism, and all threats to civilization. Thanks to the warning of A’Lan Koor, he failed, and was forced to flee. A’Lan Koor was appointed the task of bringing the first and only rogue Star Knight to justice.

Rojan Lhar fled to a backwards world known as Earth, in an isolated part of the galaxy, arriving there in the Earth year 1969. His foe A’Lan Koor became known to the people of Earth as Star Knight and joined a group of Earth heroes, the Freedom League. Rojan adopted the name Blackstar, and made several attempts to eliminate his hated rival and acquire the power to storm Citadel and claim the Star Stone’s power. Toward that end, Blackstar worked with various super-criminals on Earth, even joining an incarnation of the Crime League, the Freedom League’s deadliest foes.

Star Knight thwarted Blackstar’s schemes each time, although the rogue always managed to escape to fight another day. Finally, in 1977, Star Knight captured Black-star and brought him to Citadel for trial. Mentor stripped Blackstar of his armor and sentenced him to imprisonment for life on an asteroid specially modified to hold him, with robotic jailers to care for his needs.

For over twenty years, Rojan Lhar stewed alone in his interstellar prison. What news he was allowed only deepened his bitterness. He saw his hated enemy A’Lan Koor advance to the Inner Circle of the Star Knights, lauded as a great hero. He heard about the voyages of the human Daedalus and the conflict between the Lor Republic and Star-Khan. He even managed to escape on two occasions, although he was always captured not long thereafter and returned to his exile.

Then Blackstar made covert con-tact with Omega, the Lord of the Terminus. Omega granted Rojan Lhar assistance in the form of a pair of ancient weapons: metallic wristbands that allow Lhar to tap into and channel a powerful “shadow force.” Blackstar arranged the destruction of his asteroid prison, hoping to convince his former jailers he perished in a cosmic disaster. Since then he has rejoined the Crime League on Earth and fought Earth’s new Star Knight

HISTORY
Arriving in Freedom City during a freak lightning storm, the young woman who calls herself Centuria claimed to be Centurion’s daughter from an alternate Earth. Taken in by the Freedom League, she was examined both mentally and physically to ensure she was telling the truth. During her testing, she explained that her father, the Centurion of her world, had sent her across the dimensional rift be-cause of something called the Terminus invading her home. Hoping that she may find help, the Leaguers explained what had happened when the Terminus invaded their world and offered what help they could.

Alas, it was too late. Using a dimensional viewer that Daedalus made, they peered into what was once her home dimension and found nothing but a void. Grieving, she found a home with Lady Liberty and was raised as her own daughter, attending school at the Claremont Academy and making friends with many students there.

Upon her graduation, Centuria took on the role that her father had filled, defending the world against whatever threatened it. For a time, she did much of her work solo, teaming only occasionally with Raven, with whom she’d formed a fast friendship. It was not long be-fore she came to work more and more with the League. By the time many of the former Leaguers retired, she’d become a fairly permanent ally of the team, so it was no surprise when Storm Knight offered her full-time membership with the team.

Centuria is much like her father, often putting others’ needs before her own. Because of this, she doesn’t have much of a social life beyond her heroic persona, even though she does have a few secret identities set up. In many ways, she’s attempting to fill the void that this world’s Centurion left when he passed away, and she tries to in-spire others to join her.

In combat, Centuria tends to take the defensive until she knows that innocents are cleared from the area. After that, she tries to wrap up the combat in as fast and least damaging a way as possible. She is usually the first person that Moon-Son directs tactics to, and she has often served as point when Storm Knight isn’t able to.

HISTORY
Although some masked “mystery men” appeared before him, the Centurion was Freedom City’s first true superhero and remains one of its greatest to this day. He was born on a parallel Earth where the Roman Empire never fell; this Earth also held a far more advanced technological civilization than any on twentieth century Earth.

Invading forces from the Terminus, led by Omega were on the verge of conquering that Earth when one of its leading scientists placed his infant son in an experimental dimensional capsule and sent it across dimensions to another habitable world: our own Earth. In so doing, he inadvertently exposed Freedom City to a cascade of inter-dimensional energies and made Omega aware of its existence.
Exposure to the cosmic energies also changed the infant, giving him the potential for tremendous powers.

A “shooting star” seen above Freedom City streaked westward and came quietly to rest in Wharton Forest. Tom Leeds found the capsule, and the baby boy inside. Concealing the life-pod, Leeds and his wife Mabel turned the child over to the Danvers Orphanage in Freedom City and adopted him soon thereafter, naming him Mark.

The Leeds raised Mark and, as his powers matured, taught him to use his gifts responsibly. Young Mark Leeds later learned the truth about his origins, the existence of the Terminus, and the world from which he came from a recording device in his life-pod. Fashioning a Romanesque costume to conceal his true identity, he adopted the sobriquet “Centurion” and used his powers to fight crime and injustice. In his secret identity, Leeds worked as a professor of history at Freedom City University (specializing in the Roman Empire).

The Centurion was a founding member of both the Liberty League and the Freedom League. It wasn’t until his time with the Freedom League that it became clear the Centurion’s powers included a greatly extended lifespan; although over forty years old by the founding of the Freedom League, he still looked like a man in his late twenties.

Mark Leeds married Laurie Lamont in the 1950s. They were never able to have children, most likely because of the cosmic energies that altered Mark’s physiology. Mrs. Leeds passed away in the late 1980s while Mark remained young and vital (using makeup to make it appear Mark Leeds was aging normally). Leeds disappeared into “retirement” after that, and Centurion spent most of his time in his costumed identity. He was invited on several occasions to live with the Ultima but felt he couldn’t abandon his responsibilities to the world.

Throughout much of his career, one of the Centurion’s greatest foes was Omega, who destroyed his home world. Centurion swore the same fate would not befall his adopted home. He finally gave his life in battle against the Lord of the Terminus to save the world, and every nation on Earth mourned his loss. Freedom City commissioned and dedicated the Sentry Statue in his honor, and the legacy of the Centurion continues to inspire a new generation of heroes.

Although there has been at least one impostor posing as the Centurion returned to life, as yet no new hero has adopted the Centurion’s distinctive name or costume, and wisely so; both are considered sacred in the superhero community.

HISTORY
Intrigued by Daedalus’ engram transfer technology, Talos stole it from his old foe and used it to develop a female form robot to function as his “bride,” patterning her mind on that of the sorceress Me-dea, the first female to thwart Talos. This proved a mistake, as Galatea (named for the legendary living statue of Greek myth) also thwarted Talos’ desires. Her artificial intelligence incorporated an unprecedented degree of free spirit, and she rebelled against her creator, helping the Freedom League rescue Daedalus and defeat Talos.

Lost and alone in the world, Galatea accepted the League’s offer to come stay with them, quickly becoming a valuable member of the team. She struggled with human-like emotions, dealing with bouts of loneliness, especially after an unrequited attraction to Daedalus (who saw her as more of a “daughter” figure and was reminded of his failures with the Chorale). Galatea took innocent joy in many simple experiences, but was also denied some human pleasures by virtue of her artificial nature.

CONTACTS: Allies of Freedom, Human Tank

HISTORY
Tommy Griffin and his brother Hank lived in one of two apartments above Doctor Michael Mac-Lean’s laboratory in Port Regal. Their sister, Shelly, and her husband lived in the other apartment. Tommy swept the floors in the laboratory where “Doc” worked on forging an experimental super-metal for lighter and stronger ships and planes.

On May 20th, 1942, some Fifth columnists in Freedom City sabotaged the building. Tommy, Hank, and Doc were in the lab when the explosions occurred. Doc died instantly, while Hank tried to shield Tommy from the explosion and the spray of liquid super-metal. Secondary explosions around the building’s support columns brought it all down on them, and Shelly died when the upper floors crashed to the ground. Hank shrugged the rubble off of them and he and Tommy crawled from the wreckage, vowing revenge for their family’s death. The liquid super-metal changed both of them. Hank’s skin and muscles trans-formed into “living metal,” Tommy gained the power to absorb metals and project sprays of metallic projectiles.

Hank and Tommy became the Human Tank and Gunner. They captured the saboteurs who killed Doc and Shelly and turned them over to the military authorities at Lonely Point. Both of them volunteered to use their powers for the war effort and were almost immediately sent to Europe. Once there, Major Richard Monroe assigned them to work with other allied superhumans in the Allies of Freedom, a team under the command of the Allied military commanders.

Tommy was the youngest member of the Allies, and remained a member until its dissolution in 1945. He and Hank both were seriously wounded in the final battle against Nacht-Krieger. Before he passed out from shock, Gunner boasted, “You wouldn’t last a minute against the Liberty League, Ratzi…” When he regained consciousness, he learned of Lady Celtic’s death. He and Hank left England soon after her funeral.

The Human Tank and Gunner helped end the war with Japan and stayed to help the allies restore the country. Both of them fell in love with Japan and its culture, and Gunner actually started developing his powers to project metallic stars like Japanese shuriken instead of just “bullets.” The Japanese super-agent Crimson Katana murdered both Gunner and his brother in their sleep. Tommy Griffin was only 19 years old.

TALENTS: Martial Arts: B, E; Me-chanics; Pop culture

CONTACTS: Allies of Freedom, Gunner, Lady Celtic

HISTORY
Hank was the second child of Margaret and Henry Griffin. When they died in a car accident, the eleven-year-old Hank and his six-year-old brother Tommy went to live with their older sister Shelly and her husband, metallurgist Dr. Michael MacLain, in Freedom City. Hank became obsessed with cars and a skilled mechanic and driver, which made him useful in Michael’s lab filled with mechanical inventions and the fact that “Doc” had poor depth perception and didn’t drive.

When Fifth columnists in Freedom City sabotaged the lab, Hank, Tommy, and Doc were caught in the initial explosion. Hank tackled Tommy and used his own body to shield his brother from the spray of liquid super-metal. Hank threw off the rubble and found his skin, organs, and muscles were now all metal. Tommy, who’d been trapped under him, could pull the metal out of the air, just as he breathed in the super-metal in the air from the lab. Their sister and her husband were both dead.

The Human Tank and Gunner captured the saboteurs and turned them over to the military at Lonely Point. Despite his little brother’s age, Hank accepted a request to volunteer their powers for the war effort. The brothers immediately went to Europe to join other allied superhumans in the Allies of Freedom, a team under the command of the Allied military commanders. Their main liaison was Major Richard Monroe of the O.S.S.

Hank, as the Human Tank, was the powerhouse of the team, yet his humility and quiet humor belied his metallic power. Still, shortly after arriving in Europe, he fell in love with Lady Celtic. They were married on New Year’s Day 1943, their twin children born in mid-1944.

Hank was seriously wounded by Nacht-Krieger when he attempted to prevent the Nazi’s escape from Europe. His wife, Lady Celtic, was killed. After weeks grieving for her and his other lost comrades, Hank placed his children in the safe-keeping of his wife’s younger sister and he and Tommy returned to duty.

Human Tank and Gunner helped end the war with Japan and stayed to help the allies restore the country. Both of them fell in love with Japan and its culture, and the Human Tank began making plans to have his children brought to Osaka to live. Before that could happen, however, on October 17, 1946 the Crimson Katana murdered the Human Tank and Gunner in their sleep. Hank's head was never recovered.

HISTORY
Amanda Phipps-Gordon was a privileged young woman of a socially prominent Oxford family. Much to her father’s chagrin, she spent her time during and after university digging up peat bogs, searching for artifacts of Britain’s Celtic past.

In 1938, she found more than she ever dreamed when she unearthed some human remains, possibly a druidic sacrifice, or so it seemed at first. When Amanda touched the mummified flesh, glowing Celtic knot work design flowed up her hand and onto her. As they did, strange visions and voices flooded her mind, and she passed out.

She was in a coma for 49 hours, all the while learning magic and lore from the spirit of Aodh Cobhan, the druid whose body she had found. He taught her to wield magic that was ancient before the Romans came to British Isles, and told her of her destiny to help protect the land and its people. She awoke in an Oxford hospital, Celtic tattoos running up her arms to her face and neck; her first sight was her father glaring down at her disapprovingly. His staunch Anglican upbringing left no room for a daughter covered in pagan symbols, and he disowned her once she obviously had her health back.

Only days later, Lady Celtic saved her colleagues at the dig site from Aodh’s ancient foe, “Blackthorn” Domhnull, an evil sorcerer Aodh had imprisoned in death. Amanda’s former fiancé, Roger, had found Blackthorn’s black iron torc and was possessed, his head wreathed in mystic flames. Amanda had to kill Roger to separate him from the torc and Blackthorn’s evil. Grieving for her lost love, she secretly buried the torc in a Scottish bog to keep its evil contained for another millennium (though Blackthorn would actually arise again in only a few years to plague the Centurion).

Lady Celtic won the hearts of the British people by saving Princesses Elizabeth and Anne from harm when German kidnappers tried to abduct them from Balmoral Castle. She gladly joined the war effort and remained with her newfound friends in the Allies of Freedom despite their losses at Utska. When the Human Tank and Gunner joined the team in 1942, she initially struck some sparks with the metallic American. They fought well together, however, and it was not long before Amanda fell in love with her American “knight of shining armor.” They were married by 1943 and had twins, Avril and Troy, in 1944. While Amanda hated her time away from her adopted family and her husband, she was relieved at being ordered out of action for six months before and after her children’s birth. She also managed to reconcile with her estranged family.

Lady Celtic rejoined the Allies, but most of their missions by that time were liberating death camps and trying to catch fleeing members of the Nazi high command. Lady Celtic died healing her severely wounded husband and brother-in-law, not realizing Nacht-Krieger’s newly enhanced powers would allow him to slash through her mystic shields. She was given a state funeral at Westminster Abbey and laid to rest in the family plot in Oxford.

CONTACTS: NextGen, Freedom League, Chase Atom

HISTORY
Ray Gardener, Jr. is the son of Captain Thunder, the former leader of the Freedom League, and his wife Nancy. He knew since childhood that his father was a superhero and Ray always idolized him because of it. When the entire world learned Captain Thunder’s secret identity after his foe Dr. Stratos unmasked him on nationwide television, the Gardeners’ lives changed forever, and Ray grew up the known son of a famous superhero—and a potential target for his enemies.

The beginning of his teen years were made more difficult by the development of a form of epilepsy due to an overabundance of neural electricity in Ray’s brain. He suffered several seizures before being placed on medication, which made it impossible to play the sports he loved, particularly baseball. Ray became friends with Chase Atom, someone his age who understood what it was like growing up in a “super” family. Ray also became a fan of comic books and roleplaying games as well as televised sports.

Ray’s epilepsy grew increasingly more difficult to treat until he suffered a seizure accompanied by a tremendous burst of electricity! It turned out Ray was a super-powered mutant with electrical powers similar to, but not quite the same as, his father. Captain Thunder enrolled his son as a student at Duncan Summers’ Claremont Academy to help him learn to control and use his powers. Not long thereafter, freshman Ray Gardener became the newest member of the Next-Gen, using the name “Bolt.”

Super-speed and the power to throw lighting did not do much for Ray’s self-discipline, however. He reveled in the newfound freedom of having super-powers, and working alongside his new friends and teammates. However, his grades were not always up to par, and Ray, Jr. felt increasing pressure from his parents to do well, not just as a fledging hero, but as a student with an eye towards the future. Like a lot of kids his age, Ray Jr. didn’t listen.

He managed to get by and to graduate, although it strained his friendship with the much more intellectual and studious Chase, and got him benched a few times with the Next-Gen for disciplinary problems. He even managed to get into Freedom College, splitting his time between schoolwork and crime-fighting once again. His college grades weren’t an improvement over his time in high school, and it became clear that some elements of Freedom College just wanted “Captain Thunder’s son” around as a kind of mascot to support the school. Ray dropped out of college to focus on his superheroics full-time, intending to eventually apply for membership in the Freedom League, but wanting to earn it in his own right.

That desire to do things on his own led Bolt to follow a lead on his father’s old foe Dr. Stratos, right into a trap. That trap was intended to drain Captain Thunder’s powers and channel them into his son’s body, turning Ray, Jr. into a “thunderbomb” powerful enough to obliterate them both. Captain Thunder came to rescue his son and lost his powers, but the rest of the plan didn’t go as Dr. Stratos envisioned. Ray, Jr. absorbed a tremendous amount of energy but, through an even greater exertion of willpower, he was able to hold on to it. He became it, his physical form atomized, turning him into a “living thunderbolt” that blasted Stratos senseless.

Daedalus and Dr. Atom were able to save Ray’s life, transferring his uncontrolled and dissipating electrical energy into an advanced containment suit, but they had no means to restore him to his human form. His electrical powers increased and electromagnetic control over his suit gives him tremendous physical prowess, so long as he wears it. Without it, he is a barely controlled mass of ball lightning. After training and rehabilitation to control his new form, Ray got the invitation he had long wanted to join the Freedom League, taking on the name “Storm Knight.” Since then, he has done his best to fill his father’s role on the team, keenly aware of his role in causing Captain Thunder’s absence in the first place.

der Ubermenschen - Freedomverse

Post by Sidious »

Der Ubermenschen

Group Background:
On Erde, all those with superhuman abilities get conscripted by the Axis powers, and are killed mercilessly if they resist. In addition to those developing paranormal abilities through mutations or accidents, the Nazis’ advanced eugenics programs create a number of supermen by design. Regardless of their origin, all superhumans are rigorously trained and indoctrinated to fight and die for the Reich.

The Nazis organize superhumans into squad-level detachments, and deploy them as needed like any other military asset. The Reich also realizes the propaganda value of such beings, and their exaggerated presence in state-run media is inescapable. This makes the captive populations of Erde regard them as even more godlike than they really are.

Der Übermenschen are unique among the various Nazi super-squads in that all members are native-born Americans. Pacifying the rebellious former U.S. has long been a goal of the Reich, and it sees der Übermenschen as a two-fold means to that end. On one hand, the team is an inspirational symbol urging their fellow Americans to collaborate and share in the Nazis’ power and glory. At the same time, the media unflinchingly show the horrible wrath der Übermenschen inflicts on the Reich’s enemies, terrifying any would-be rebels into submission. Der Übermenschen are firmly committed to their assigned tasks, eager to prove their loyalty and worth to the Reich.

HISTORY
Carol Braun’s scientist parents dedicated themselves to perfecting atomic energy for the greater glory of Nazism. Since her mother and father both spent long periods of time near radioactive materials, the Reich closely watched Carol for any signs of useful mutant abilities.

As fate decreed, Carol’s powers didn’t manifest until a severe trauma drove them to the fore. She awoke one night as a massive explosion leveled the entire University of Chicago campus where her family lived and worked. Carol had but an instant to cry for help as her house came down around her. To her shock and surprise, the rubble and flames passed through her body harmlessly. The Reich immediately deduced Carol’s survival was due to emergent mutant powers, and steps were taken to ensure she’d always use them in its service. She was told a bomb planted by the American Resistance killed her parents, and at that moment Carol’s soul died with them. All that remained were her hurt and rage, and Carol directed them toward a single goal: bloody vengeance upon her parents’ murderers.

She fanatically trained herself to peak physical condition, mastering hand-to-hand fighting as well as her powers. Carol also learned to focus the force of her now utterly ruthless personality, inspiring terror as great as her physical beauty. She ultimately transformed herself into a vengeful specter, and now few inspire more abject fear in the Reich’s enemies than die Geist.

TALENTS: Chemistry; Demolitions; Engineering; Martial Arts: B, D; Military

CONTACTS: der Ubermenschen

HISTORY
David Beasley had it all–good looks, charm, a high-ranking position in the Propaganda Ministry, and a clean Gestapo file–until his latent mutant power manifested. Thereafter, any solid object touching his skin causes a powerful explosion, and despite all efforts Beasley can’t shut this ability off.

Despondent, he turned his power on himself, only to find himself immune. Only the Reich’s intervention prevented him from ending his life some other way, and it did so by promising a cure in exchange for his joining der Übermenschen. Beasley agreed, and Nazi scientists soon perfected a non-reactive substance from which his distinctive uniform is fashioned.

This discovery allows Beasley a semblance of a normal life, but his lethally supercharged body still bars him from most human con-tact, making him a remorseful, joyless individual. His despair only deepened when he learned his close friend Elissa Carey joined the resistance after his forced isolation. He’d always wanted to be more than just friends, but now she was out of his life for good.

Now doomed to be an enemy of the person he cares for most, Beasley morosely chose the Norse apocalypse Götterdämmerung as his code name. With nowhere else to turn, Beasley simply does as the Reich commands, incapable of feeling anything but his own over-riding sense of sadness and loss.

TALENTS: Acrobatics; Chemistry; Engineering; Martial Arts: B; Re-pair/Tinkering

CONTACTS: der Ubermenschen

HISTORY
Even a world as cruel and debased as Erde has little room for true psychopaths, and a homicidal maniac like Roy Barnes would certainly have experienced the Reich’s swift “justice” had not his mutant abilities appeared first. Given his psyche and shrinking powers, the Reich trained Barnes as a commando and an assassin, capable of killing anyone, anywhere, at any time. The demise of anyone he targeted became so certain Banes was given the codename der Hand des Todes, the Hand of Death itself.

Der Übermenschen are cold-blooded killers, excepting Barnes who truly enjoys the act of murder. He kills with a sick glee and maniacal determination that chills even his teammates. Only fear of the Reich’s reprisals keep his homicidal tendencies in check to any degree, and even then no one who knows him ever turns their back on him.

HISTORY
Konrad Zoller’s father was a German air-ace during the war and Konrad was obsessed with planes and flight from his youth. Perhaps his obsession was a factor in the later development of his powers.

While training for the Luftwaffe, the German air force, Zoller’s plane suffered a mechanical problem. He bailed out, without a parachute, but remained hovering in the air while his stricken plane fell. He floated down to the ground gently and safely, without any apparent means of support.

Quickly recruited and tested by the SS, Zoller was able to demonstrate his flight power again at will and could achieve speeds faster than any known aircraft. Awarded the code-name Roter Adler, or “Red Eagle,” Konrad Zoller was inducted into the ranks of the Ubermenschen

CONTACTS: der Ubermenschen, Nazis

HISTORY
While Tomas Morgen turned against the Reich, other spawn of its eugenics programs fulfilled their preordained destiny as paragons of Nazism. Of them, none are more powerful, more charismatic, or more dedicated than SS Sturm-bannführer Robert Inglis – a super-man among the supermen. These qualities brought Inglis to the personal attention of der Führer himself, Überlegen (Superior).

Morgen joining the resistance inspired all the Reich’s enemies, and Superior saw Inglis as an equal and opposite symbol, one who might finally end the American insurgency. Inglis already loathed Morgen maniacally, making him eager to fulfill his role as “the perfect American Aryan.”

Superior’s faith in Inglis was so great he bestowed him with the codename Übermensch, which der Führer himself used during World War II. Soon after, Inglis was given command of der Übermenschen, which is named in his honor and obeys his every order without question.

Der Übermenschen’s campaign to win the hearts and minds of their fellow Americans and eradicate the resistance has been very successful so far. If it continues, an ultimate honor awaits Über-mensch: being named Reichspräsident of the National Socialist States of America.

In the meantime, Inglis’ every thought, word and deed are dedicated to further glorifying the Reich. While he can be utterly charming at times, underneath it all is a ruthless man completely subsuming his own identity within the twisted ideals of National Social-ism.

CONTACTS: der Ubermenschen, Nazis

HISTORY
Erde’s version of Daniel Foreman grew up believing in racial superiority. Rather than becoming a social outcast like his Freedom City doppelganger, Erde’s Foreman became a rising star in Arbeitstadt’s Nazi Party hierarchy.

Foreman sought to prove his zeal for National Socialism by volunteering for a ritual aimed at “awakening the power in pure Aryan blood” presided over by the mystic Herr Niedertracht. Of the participants, Foreman alone developed superpowers, which he regarded as gifts from the fire god Loge. Foreman dubbed himself der Weißer Ritter, a divinely chosen crusader to purify Erde of “inferior races” with cleansing fire, and does so with religious fervor.

Unlike his teammates, der Weißer Ritter was not trained and educated for combat from childhood, growing up instead on the mean streets of Arbeitstadt. As a result, he lacks some of their sheer physical prowess, but commands the loyalty and respect of rank-and-file Nazi Party members (like his Minions) in ways his comrades cannot.

Okay, finally read the stuff on the Olympus Group. They definitely have some solid ideas, and I see the work of CJ Carella in them (had to read up to check if he'd written it, and yeah, that explains it). Nobody kind of realized the "Sandbox Setting" of Rifts as well as he did, so of course you have various Palladium World guys, random demons from other books, a Heroes Unlimited guy, etc., all in the same squad.

What's bizarre is that there's like three different versions of Olympians in that book, which SCREAMS that "Palladium Editing Style" of "which one of these should we include?" "I can't decide- let's just do them ALL".

It's really too bad they used the worst non-Siembieda artist in their line to draw them.

I think most of the pantheons have an impostor group, which is annoying and repetitive as hell. Also every dispossessed Vampire/Alien Intelligence seems to be trying to be a god or something. The one in England was novel. The, what 3... 4? In this book just screams for them to get a new idea.

I did like the "Dark Olympus" to an extent. Jupiter isn't a name you find used in most comics. It has potential but needs so much refinement.

The whole Gilgamesh thing for the Babylonians is just annoyingly left up to the readers to decide in typical fashion. I really hate open ended mysteries like that.
