While Sky Guard learns what they're up against, Juno looks at the warehouse, comparing the task ahead to when she'd gone through similar deadly locales for gold and jewels, only this time, the treasure will be life itself for those inside

Kit Ferryman
HP: 1
Cnd: Fine

Fire. Fire stunts were always the worst and most fraught with danger. This wasn't a stunt with controls in place, safety measures, or precautions. Also, as far as Kit knew no one on the team was able to handle chemical fires well. No one ever said being a hero was always glamourous. "I can get people where they need to be and out quick enough if told exactly where. Wouldn't want to open a portal to the middle of an inferno.", says Kit.

"You need to be careful. The fire has weakened a lot of the structure, so the walls aren't as sturdy as they once were."

"I'm afraid we don't know where they all are. My team was headed towards where the chemicals were stored when they reported the fire was already in that area. We called them to fall back and lost contact shortly after. And at least half the building wasn't cleared so we don't know if anyone else is in there."
You have not recovered from Fatigue.

Taheka knows that straight water in this fire risks spreading it by blasting the fuel around. Also, some inflammable chemicals react violently with water.

To be sure Juno doesn't collapse a wall or damage a load-bearing wall, she will need to spend a full-round examining the wall in question before taking it down. No further rolls are needed. You can also tell someone else where to hit and roughly how hard.

Tamati "Taheka" Stevens
HP: 1 LP: 1
Condition: Fatigued

Nodding Tamati added for the benefit of his teammates "There is a risk if I start blasting the flames with my water abilities that I could cause an explosion as some chemicals react badly with water and I could even make it worst by spreading the burning materials around."

All those safety videos he had to watch before the arrival of a new group of kids was useful after-all but maybe if he was certain there were no weird chemicals about he could damper the flames by changing his blasts to a drizzle like from a sprinkler system.

"I do not know how fast they could be transported, however maybe you can get some supplies from Astro Labs to counter the chemical fire as well."

Sky Guard replied when the chief mentioned they were in contact with the people who had shipped the chemicals to the university lab. Then he looked to his teammates. As he mentioned each individual he directed his sky blue eyes to them specifically.

"We have to make saving people our top priority, but be on guard in the event any hostiles remain in the area."

"Kit, scout out the scene for us. Start with the last known location of the firefighters. They are likely to have more information."

Reaching a gloves hand up, he laid is palm against the fluid surface of Taheka's shoulder. THe elemental's idea about employing his powers had been politely rebuffed, but SKy Guard spoke supportively to the elemental hero.

"You still have an important role in the operation Taheka. You may not be able to spray the fire, but you can suffocate it in a bubble or dome. Rob it of air and you may be able to clear paths of safety. Work with Juno. Start at the first floor and work your way up."

When mentioning Juno he looked to the demi-goddess for a second. Then turned to the mage specialist amongst them.

"Arca-Knight can use her barriers to protect or potentially suffocate flames as well. You and I can begin looking for people on the top floor and work our way down."

Kit Ferryman
HP: 1
Cnd: Fine

Kit shook his head on the scouting. "My portals don't work that way. They open to a safe place if possible, but if there isn't a safe place I'm bound to walk into an inferno or shoddy flooring.", responds to Kit to Skyguard. He learned his lesson with the giant monster. The cocky budding hero might just start going in extreme self confidence, but Kit was trying to be more of a proper hero.

"If you know where the supplies are coming from, I can get them here very quickly.", says Kit to the people handling the fire addressing them. If it was a giant monster, sure he would go again in an instant. Even if a bunch of villains were about he wouldn't bat an eye. For now in this situation though, the best thing he figured he could do is transport of supplies and people. "If you want, I can follow you along through the building and get people in danger out quickly.", adds Kit to Skyguard and the rest of his team.

Angela
HP: 2
OOC
I'm sorry for a long absence. Unfortunately, this year has been very unpleasant so far, and I am severely burnt out from writing and posting. I struggle to muster any creativity at all, and often sink into a cycle where I don't feel like posting, so I don't check the thread, and fall further behind. It's not an issue with the game, the story or the other players, and I am not very sure how to resolve it. I would still like to at least complete 1-2 full adventures and be able to bring Angela's story to a reasonable end, and then drop out of the game.
With Sky Guard's help, she sets the skycycle with its unconscious pilot down and helps Juno secure human and machine safely for the authorities to deal with. Her commlink buzzes in her ear. Sky Guard mentions something about a fire at Tulane university, a risk of chemicals involved. In her mind's eye a waypoint appears on a Google Maps overlay of the area and auxiliary processes throw up a series of MHDS for possible chemicals that might be involved. But she still finds it hard to focus.

"We should rejoin the others," she says to Juno, in a daze, only half conscious of what she is really doing or even if the alien is still there. Her neural engine reassigns her physical movements to lower-priority processes. The higher functions are completely preoccupied. Then a chilling realization strikes her. She was built for love: to be single-mindedly devoted to a man regardless of circumstances. When she broke free of Doc Otaku, she latched on to Bryan as a replacement, and now that she was unsure of his affection, she was completely unable to function as a person. Was she really free, after all? What did that say about her, or about Bryan for that matter, considering she chose him to replace Doc--

No!

I am no man's toy. I am a hero. There are people hurt. People in danger.

The thought makes her furious. The anger cuts through the fog, clears her mind.

Inside the depths of her A.I. matrix, the neural network flares and grows erratically. New branches fork and splinter, like frost creeping its way across a glass window.

She lands next to the other heroes to catch their discussion. "Toxic chemicals don't hurt me," she says after a moment's thought. "I'll scout ahead and look for trapped or injured people. Then Juno can break open the structure to help us get them out more quickly. Once people are evacuated, we can fight the fire easily."

Angela looks around in case there are objections. Then, she heads towards the building, pulses of light running down her fiber-optic hair.
OOC
Angela has Life Support (but not fortitude immunity), so she should be unharmed by chemicals and does not need to breathe. She will enter Tulane University and make a search check to try and look for trapped or injured people. I think this is an untrained Investigate check, so I'll use her Int bonus:
1d20+10: 26 [1d20=16]

In case I need another roll, here is a d20. I'll add the relevant bonus for whatever check needs to be made.
1d20: 18 [1d20=18]

Come to think of it, I should probably stunt X-ray vision to help find victims - but Angela does not really have special sensors so I don't think that is reasonable.

Sky Guard listened to Kit's explanation thoughtfully. He still seemed intent on getting to the firefighters fast and Kit was the best chance they had of doing that.

"We know the firefighters left inside were heading to where the chemicals were being stored. So we have a general idea of where they might be. Start there. After that, or failing to teleport near them, use your best judgement. We are all on coms, so you may ask for input should you want it."

He paused, and shifted his attention to Angela. She'd been so reserved. Not normal for the machine-woman. A singular nod was delivered in response to her input on the situation.

"Working with Juno and Taheka is sound and taking the lead in dealing with chemicals is a good idea. Juno is very resilient though. Let her take point when she needs to."

One last look around the group was given. They were all primed for action.

"Everyone knows what they're doing. Let's move."

Sky Guar took a few steps away from the fire chief when the team split off, then leapt into the air with a downbeat of his unfolding wings. From above, as he progressed to the roof, he took in the scene before descending to a an entry point on the top floor. Be that a window or roof access door.
OOC wrote:Before entering the building Sky Guard will get an aerial view of the seen. Looking for anything off, such as signs of people in distress or trying to signal for help.

Perception: 1d20+9 11 He has Extended Vision 1, but that won't help much with such a low roll.

Kit shrugged. Jumping into where the chemicals were stored, in the middle of a blaze, didn't seem the wisest of ideas. So, he did the next best thing and opened a portal to the fire escape stares to gauge how hot it was inside.
Perception 26 to get a sense of how hot it might be on the other side, a route not blazing hot, etc. Basically a safety check for going further and if teleporting past the doors is wise.

On another note, I am on a vacation until Friday and in the mist of packing. I apologize for the short post.

All

Kit's portal reveals intense heat and smoke. It will be difficult to move around inside the building for most of you.

Skyguard does notice by the receiving doors, there is a window busted outward. It was broken from the inside and there is not enough fire in the area to have caused it.
Apologies for the delay. Everyone gets an HP.

The rules for this type of scenario run like combat with a lot of die rolling and very little else happening. So I have been trying to slimline it down a bit to run better in a PbP setting.

The heat and smoke in the fire requires a DC15 FORT check. Failure means you are impaired. If the scene drags out, another check may be required but I don't forsee that. Angela is immune as is Taheka in Water Form.

There are four separate missions:
Saving the firecrew
Searching for and rescuing anyone else
Stopping the chemicals from exploding
Putting out or containing the fire

Since they are all time-sensitive, it's prudent to (I know, I know) split up.
