JD grunts with the effort of setting it down, he hadn't been pulling on any additional earthen strength though the base power of his partially-stony body seemed enough for this test. He stays armored as he rejoins the crowd so his face is hard to read when he turns around and sees a golden statue girl next in line.

He concedes the platform with a respectful nod to the golden student.

Erin groaned inwardly as of course the TA had picked her out of the more freakish looking of the bunch.

He must want her gold trinkets as well. Drop dead, dude.

"Erin. Erin Murphy. Uhh...sir." she answered in a small tone as she slowly made her way to the platform. She politely nodded back to Rock Knight or whatever hip hop codename which suited him. Maybe that's his name, Rocky Knight or Mason Stone. Rick Gravel?

How gauche. Still this beats taking a written test.

Erin stood below the device and gritted her shiny teeth in preparation. She even did a mock pose like those bodybuilders she saw on ESPN. If the stuff was too heavy then she'll gladly duck out of the way and run back to the rear of the crowd.

After all she wasn't Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Mhm, ok Erin, all I need from you is to do the same thing as JD just did" Pemberly would say in a rather bored tone. He probably had done more than a few of these tests. It must reach a point when you have seen almost anything. As she prepares herself; just before the hatch opens, Erin spots something rather alarming. It was Arlene. She was peering around the edge of the gym door, watching Erin with a huge grin on her face. She must have followed the other students in, but what was she doing here? She didn't even go to this school! As Erin spots her, Arlene would give her best friend a little wave, just as the hatch opens up.

The hatch drops another large chunk of metal from above, it looks like another portion of the car that had been cut up. With her powers, such a weight should be little problem for her, this was a chance to put on a true display of power.

Erin's heart skipped a beat or two as she suddenly saw her friend Arlene peeking around near the gymnasium entrance. It was bad timing to say the least as the machine above her dropped a heavy object at the same time.

Erin instinctively caught the large scrap metal, her knees didn't even buckle once. Of course the object was not too heavy and she quickly threw it down on the floor. She stepped off the platform as fast as she can while still in her solid gold form and gave Arlene a thumbs up while frowning at her.

Arlene had some explaining to do but that would have to wait until all of this testing is over and done with.

JOHN WHITEEAGLE (LAKOTA)

He had never been around this many supes before, and John was a little on edge. "I wonder how well I will perform when it is my turn?" Gazing around he will try and determine how quickly the testing will get to him.

"I hope I can sneak in late," Sarah thinks as she sees the school come into view. She gets to the front door a moment later and notices a sign for Freshman orientation in the gym. She ducks into a bathroom and changes back to normal. She was so cute this morning, she hopes this changes isn't bad. After getting dressed, she steps out of the stall and looks in the mirror. "Hmm, nice checkbones," she says aloud to her reflection, a tallish blond girl with pale complexion. "The other outfit in my closet would look so much better with this skin tone," she thinks. A touch of makeup and she rushes to the gym.

There she sees a golden girl catching something the fell from the ceiling. This is not middle school phys. ed. she was use to. Looking at the crowd she moves toward some of the better dressed kids, hoping not to be noticed coming in late.

As Sarah ducks through the gym door, no one seems to notice her absence, or her late arrival. Everyone seems to be far more focused on the golden figure currently hefting the front of a car over her head. It was an impressive display to say the least.

As Erin leaves the test area, Alrene would respond to her frown with a frantic wave and an unapologetic shrug. Arlene had never been one to apologise for 'just have some fun'. The girl would duck back around the door frame, out of the view of the teacher as he glances up. She was probably still around, lurking near by to ambush her friend.

With the first two displays, a few other students came forwards to try their hand at the test. A boy in a black leather jacket and platinum hair steps up with a confident smile. He throws a wink at the crowd followed by the phrase 'this is how it's done'. He looks up, and is promptly flattened by a pile of sandbags tied together. There is a collective 'oooh' from the crowd and even Mr Pemberly wince at the impact.

Pemberly ducks down quickly, grunting a little as he roles the pile off of the boy. Helping him up, he does a cursory glance for any injuries without any obvious signs of real concern. Other than a bruised ego and a bang to the shoulder, the boy seems unharmed. "Alright everyone, please try to keep focussed on the test. Let's not have a repeat of, what's your name?'

The most recent student looks back as he limps towards the crowd. "Mat Kellher".

"Right. Like Mr Kellher here. Now, who's next". A few more students go ahead and take their tries. Some just about manage to hold up the weight, while others are nocked to the floor. Overall there are varying degrees of the success, but then there is a lull in volunteers. Looking up expectantly, Mr Pemberly begins to count the remaining students who hadn't been. "Anyone want to go next?"

As Mat fails his catch JD is also on hand to get the bags off. His is a manner of quiet determination though his face is unreadable under his helmet and he offers the other student a hand up and a shoulder to lean on if he desires it when rejoining the other students. He doesn't acknowledge or join in any laughter or snark from the crowd and gives Mat a nod of encouragement to do the same.

JD will resolve to be closer to the platform for the subsequent tests.

John moves closer to the front of the line, waiting on his turn. Feeling nervous he watches the proceedings to see what he will be up against.

Maya McKinny (Lifestream / HP: 1)

Maya watches as several others go up, attempt to catch their objects (And honestly, who collected all that junk and hauled it up there just to be dropped on teenagers?), and in most cases get bowled over with their powers having little to do with strength. At least the items aren't TOO large, like a car... made her wonder what they hoped to accomplish with this exactly.

When it came to her turn, the redhead goes up the steps and gives the TA a look as she steps into place under the trap door. "Careful, first five rows are a splash zone." she states ominously. When the trap door opens and drops the item, Maya throws her hands up and water manifests all around her into a wall that extends slightly to her left and right and 'catches' the object on top of the wall before it even comes close to her.

Her feat accomplished, she steps casually out from the water wall and lets the wall go, though seems some of the volume hovering over her hand as she holds it out to the side, the object, lacking support now, dropping a little more softly than if it had dropped in freefall, but all that water! That's quite a lot of gallons that's just going to flow down and find its level/drain out. Splash zone indeed.

"Now if anyone has any scrapes or bruises, come see me and I'll take care of them." Now with much more water than just the water cooler, it would make healing up her classmates much easier. She could always move the water elsewhere later.
_: 1D20+0 = [10]+0 = 10 I think a Power check would make more sense, but since her Dex is 0, could easy apply her power rank (8) instead. Either way, it beats the 5 that was laid out, so good either way. The main point was that her water construct being rank 8 has more than enough effective strength to catch most anything that could be dropped her

Sarah walks forward, one of the last to go. "Do I have to do this? I'm really not very strong or good at catching things. If these clothes are messed up, you paying for the drycleaning." She reluctantly stands on the spot and looks up expectantly. On cue, the door opens and she screams in terror, holding her arms up and gives it her best.

Dex Check: 1d20 17
Toughness Check DC(20): 1d20+6 22

No one is more surprised that she caught it, and didn't hurt herself doing so. "I did it."

As the water cascades over JD the rock-shelled figure crosses his arms and plants his feet. It doesn't budge him much but after it passes even JD is surprised that a large shield of the same dull grey stone as his armor has manifested from his left forearm.

Any look of annoyance is wasted as his eyes are not visible hidden in his helm.

JD makes ready to haul whatever dropped object off the smaller girl that steps up but it's not needed as her strength belies her size and appearance.

"Hm?" Mr Pemberly would question as he glances up from his clipboard as Maya approaches. Maya finds herself under the shadow of what would look like the tattered remains of a washing machine. It comes hurtling down, only to come to a crashing halt on top of the water wall. There's a couple of whoops from the students who are getting into the spirit of the event that was this first day. Mr Pemberly leaps back, narrowly avoiding being engulfed in the water, clutching his clipboard tightly.

As the water cascades onto the gym floor and towards the edge of the room, it quickly begins to flow out of drains set in the edges of the floor. It would seem that they had tested water based powers in the base. Mr Pemberly however seems less prepared as he sighs in frustration at his soaking wet shoes. "Well, technically this was supposed to be a test in strength, but the headteacher does like to see students finding unique ways to achieve their goals.

When Maya makes her way back into the crowd of students Mr Pemberly calls after her. "Please do not get any medical attention from other students, we do have a school nurse if you do need any help!" Tapping impatiently on the clipboard with his pencil, he would gesture for the next student to come through. There were other successes and failures with only a couple standing out for their strength. One hulking boy with muscles that far exceeded what any teenager should have was able to toss a small length of steel girder in the air. Another was a bookish looking girl with a set of thick glasses who took Maya's approach and used her power. In her case it seemed to be some kind of levitation or wind control, it was tricky to say.

Sara's question is met with a nod from Mr Pemberley. "Yes miss, everyone has to do the tests. That way we can assess your abilities and optimise your training". It was a well rehearsed line by the sound of things. "And I can assure you, I am not responsible for any damages to personal belongings during your time at school, but we'll be dealing with all of that later".

Sara looks up to see her weight is one of the old, heavy televisions, the kind from the seventies. The weight of it knocks her to the floor, showering her with glass and the inner workings of the box. Fortunately though, she is unharmed, and as the TA helps her to her feet, she is able to return to the crowd as Mr Pemberly begins to move the wreckage out of the way.

In the end, only two were left, and the TA looks expectantly at them. The remaining student were Vil and John. "So, who want's to go next?" Mr Pemberly asks expectantly. The other students turn to watch the pair closely, excited to see the next display in ability.

JOHN WHITEEAGLE:LAKOTA
HP:1

John steps forward, and addresses the instructor. "I'll go next, I'm not necessarily that strong, but I am willing to give it a shot." The Young Sioux tilted his head to see what was coming so that he could prepare himself. The overhead doors parted and an outdoor air conditioning unit fell towards him. Maintaining a semi loose posture he caught the discarded item and slowly set it on the ground beside him. When he was sure that he wasn't needed for anything else, he stepped down and waited to see who else would be going.

Vil Grumych Granit
Luck (Inspiration): 3; HP: 1
Condition: normal

Vil claps John on the shoulder as he returns from the test, and realizes he hasn't asked about John's powers at all. That will make these tests more interesting.

As Vil looks up at the opening trap door, one of his feet slips on the remaining wetness of the floor. There is a bit of a gasp from the audience as he nearly falls to one knee, but his athletic reflexes keep him upright. The semi-truck wheel falling out of the trapdoor barely even registers to his muscles. He regains his footing while holding the wheel on his shoulders (as his head, as always, is stooped forward rather than being "above" the shoulders), then calmly sets it down and rejoins John in the crowd of students.
