The next few days pass with escalating weirdness, at least, in so far as your own abilities continue to manifest and strengthen. That and that more than once over the next few days you have felt like you are being watched, or followed, but any time you try to isolate the cause of the sensation, it vanishes without a trace. No mysterious men in black suits, tinted-windowed vans or strangers with faces you could swear you've seen three times in the past hour wearing different clothes or finding you far more interesting than the ought to. Even with your newly manifesting powers as you bring them under control, you can't seem to find a single cause for why you feel so observed.

The day of the meeting is heavy with rain and is forecast to be so until some time after midnight.
Go ahead and post anything you would like to have done in the days leading up to the meeting. Training, investigating, planning, preparing, whatever. Don't post arriving until everyone is ready with any preparations they want to have done leading up to the day. I'll give a go-ahead when you can post arriving.

(ooc: Some of us were planning to swing by the place during the interim days. Case the joint as it were. How many entrances, including staff only? What's in the alley behind it? Is there a parking lot? What other businesses/residences are on the same block? How tall are the buildings? Attached or detached? etc.)

Jackson's not sure why it took him so long to come to the conclusion that he had developed psychic abilities. Perhaps it was the fact that everything he'd experienced so far just felt to normal and mundane, but over the last few days even his intellect had increased to a level that almost frightened him. He had no idea that it was possible to experience the world as he could now, his mind breaking down the world around him into streams of facts and variables that all formed one cohesive chaotic mess known as reality. The speeds at which his mind now operated at a regular basis, how he could now catch glimpses and hear snippets of sounds that were normally far too quick for humans to pick up on their own. It wasn't that the world had slowed down, but his brain was simply processing everything a hundred times faster then it ever could before.

When it finally clicked into place, the fact that his brain had developed to the point where it existed partially outside it's own physical form was an all too easy conclusion to reach. That buzzing sensation he experienced was that of other minds, detected by a means he was still trying to properly understand. Trying to reach out to them however would always produce the same effect; those targeted would suddenly clutch their head in pain. Not wanting to cause irreparable damage to someone by mistake he stopped experimenting with his psychic abilities, leaving it to be dealt with when things were less stressed.

No, his mental capacity was best used to focus on coming up with plans for the upcoming encounter. His first order of business was to try to find a way to tap into security cameras in the area wherever they might be in hopes of catching some sign of their unseen pursuer who even managed to avoid Jackson's newly understood mental awareness. From there he went further, mapping out the location and trying to come up with a tactical plan of action using what little information he had available. Every time one of his fellow survivors got in contact with him to unveil a newly discovered ability or piece of information, he added it to his mental calculations.

If the situation broke down in anyway, he wanted them to have every advantage possible.

OOC: Feel free to render me impaired or fatigued for when we're actually met up, Epic. He's working himself very hard here mentally.

Technology: 21  even my Nat ones are at such a level where I think they could still pass a DC.

Lindy Tommasi

In the days leading up to the meeting, Lindy felt she was being watched whenever she was out of the hotel room. Try as she might, she was unable to locate the source. She never saw strange people lurking about or anyone follow her for any distance. Lindy concluded either it was multiple people stalking her or simple paranoia. Nonetheless, she refrained from experimenting with her new abilities in public. Even though she did not feel hungry or thirsty, Lindy still ate at regular intervals mainly because she enjoyed the taste of the food. If she were ever lost in the woods, shipwrecked, on a deserted island, or lost in the desert, then it would ne a very useful ability to have.

She discovered, during these days and nights, a few more abilities. She noticed she no longer felt cool or warm weather which forced her to start paying more attention to the outside temperature and to how others reacted to the weather. She went swimming in the hotel pool and, as she had done dozens of times prior, timed herself to see how long she could hold her breath underwater. She started to panic when she easily surpassed her previous record of 45 seconds. When she surfaced, Lindy was shocked to discover she wasn't gasping for breath. She began to wonder if she was still human. Tripping over a lounge chair revealed she could definitely still feel pain. Oddly, the pain seemed to subside much faster than normal and the bruise was gone in the few hours she was outside.

There were other things as well. Lindy could now create simple solid objects out of light. A stepladder, chair, sofa, table, and a few other basic household items were easy to make. She accidentally turned invisible when she wished she could just go hide somewhere. Lindy practiced hovering and floating around her hotel room. She needed to be outside to really experiment with that trick but felt it was too dangerous right now.

Kara
HP: 2; Condition: Normal

Kara wasn't sure if she was having trouble falling asleep because of paranoia or because the room was full of electronic noise. Even her cell phone as miasma of noise that she was starting to understand. She was near two cell towers and the phone was constantly letting the tower know it was available. And when she focused on that she could feel the two cell phones in the next room. The one in the room across the hall. The five phones down the corridor toward the lobby. The ten phones in the other direction. Above her, below her, 23 phones. She knew their phone numbers, their sim ids, some of their owner's names. How many texts were going in and out. A guy named Jim was sexting his wife and another woman at the same time in a room near the lobby. Three other people where watch videos on their phones. They were encrypted so she just assumed they were videos because of the amount of data. On and on this stream of electrical knowledge flowed into her mind. It wasn't perfect but she was starting to get a handle on ignoring the din.

She also noticed she could feel the electricity in the air and manipulate it. Soon she had small objects in the room floating about by her command. She noticed her eyes would glow white when she did this. So she resolved not to do it in public. She could also gather electricity into her hands. It amazed her that it did not hurt. The energy sparked around her hands without pain. But again, too noticeable to do where it might be seen.

And the weirdest thing happened. She was at the elevator waiting to go up to her room. It was late and she might have had one too many drinks. She just wanted to be in her room when all of a sudden everything went sideways. For a second or two, everything disappeared, she was in a space of infinite white. Although everything was white, she could sense lines of power veining throughout the space and she knew one of them lead to her room. She followed that line and then there was a pop as she reappeared in her room. She practically had a panic attack as she realized she just traveled through space without traveling through space. That night she slept easily. Maybe the drinking helped.

Lloyd Lee Tremblay

Cnd: Normal
HP:1
PP:0

I'm not telling anyone in my family anything until I get this figured out.

The thought kept racing through his mind as he drove over to pick up the boys. Charles' house is small split-level in an older neighborhood. Built sometime in the late 1970s, the houses aren't particularly large but neither are they cramped up against one another. As he pull into the driveway, Lloyd sits in his idling rental car for a moment. What if this doesn't end? What will you do, Lloyd?

As he turns of the car, the burly man puts on his best "poker face". No need to upset the boys with my worrying.

After knocking on door, he can hear Charles voice inside yell, "That's probably your dad. Go answer it!" Followed by the pounding of feet running towards the door, he hears the unmistakable sounds of Grant and Luke giggling. After a few minutes of warm greeting and chit-chat with Charles, Lloyd offers to take the boys down to the Scandia Golf and Games for some fun. Afterwards, everyone will go visit Margie in the hospital before returning back to Uncle Charles' house. "Guess what boys? Mom comes home a week from Friday. The doctors cleared her barring no other complications. She'll have to go back for therapy, but she won't have to just lay around in a hospital bed all day. We're gonna have to get the house ready for her. All the dishes and clothes have to be washed. She won't be able to do any work for a little while. Are you two ready to come back home?"

Lloyd looks to Charles and thanks him once again for his help. "Charles, I really can't repay you for all your help. This has been one of the most trying times in my life...in...in more ways than you know. I'm in your debt."
OOC: Lloyd will try to have a normal family day. He knows that tomorrow he's supposed to group up with his new acquaintances and go get some answers...hopefully. :)

Lindy Tommasi

Lindy was still freaked out by the changes to her body. Thus far she had learned how to control the manifestations. Her biggest worry was something she couldn't control or something she had not yet experienced might happen in public. Her identity and potential abilities would become public knowledge and that would endanger Emily. Who knows what the jerk Derek would think. Probably try to figure a way to make money off of it.

Lindy had to remind herself to eat and sleep to keep the appearance of being normal. Since the meeting with the mystery person was at a donut shop, she visited it early in the morning on the day of the meeting to grab a glazed and a black coffee.

Unfortunately, the camera angle is a bit of a bust. Judging by locations of cameras, anything external will have trouble seeing into the shop, while anything internal would require accessing their network directly to establish a link to connect to remotely to spy on the lobby area before entering. The free wifi is not on the same network as their security after all. Anyone trying the low-tech angle of binoculars to look through the windows wouldn't see anything particularly odd. no-one sitting for an abnormal period of time like they were waiting for a group of people experiencing odd powers and in want of answers.

Tactically, however, the Tim Hortons has one main entrance that can be accessed to go in by the public, and one door that can be pushed to allow exit, but not entry. There is also the staff door that is normally locked and leads into the back baking area and office. It would need a key to enter from the outside, but from inside it's just a turn latch deadbolt. There are windows around most of the lobby except for one corner where there is a large faux fireplace with a few comfier chairs which is located near to the exit only door. There is also the three washrooms, men, women and family which requires a staff member to buzz you in.

In short, it would be difficult to approach without being seen, or be snuck up on for that matter, unless they were hiding out in the bathrooms and peeking out to see if you'd arrived for the sole purpose of surprising you, but that would be silly. Getting out of the building has more options than getting in, which is a comforting notion unless you start to consider the possibility of breaking windows for points of ingress.

(You guys can go ahead and start arriving. It's raining just keep in mind.)

There was nothing for it, then. As he was leaving, he made sure to let his daughter know he'd be going out for awhile. If something happened to the house, she'd know to call him and let him know. When he arrived, he chose the spot that offered him the most visibility, even if it meant he himself was plainly visible as well.

From there, he waited, paying attention to the feint buzzing of other minds to try and not be caught by surprise.

Lloyd Lee Tremblay

Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this today.

Lloyd was anxious during the drive to meet the others. They had arranged a site to meet first and then go jointly to the Donut shop. Though he has demonstrated super-strength and the ability to fly, old habits die hard. A 6-shot revolver was stashed out of sight under the seat of his car. He wasn't sure what to expect, and the mystery of the whole situation gave him "butterflies" in his stomach.
OOC: I'm not sure where the group decided to meet up, but whereever *that place* is, so shall be Lloyd.

Kara
HP: 2; Condition: Normal

Kara spends then next day in her hotel room. She finds herself singing along to a song she can't hear but she's sure it is playing nearby. It takes her an hour to realize it was radio. She could hear the radio broadcast without a radio receiver. She was the receiver. She starts to notice the wi-fi around her too. She takes a shower and suddenly everything goes quiet. It is both a relief and a worry. Water messes with her powers perhaps?

She can feel the electricity in the walls around her. In what she can only call a fit of insanity, the takes her apartment key and pushes it into a wall socket. The flow of electricity is sudden and pleasant. She even feels a bit better. She pulls the key out of the socket unharmed. "Crazy," she says aloud.

Later in the day she goes down to the donut shop. She walks the streets nearby, cataloging all the electrical systems nearby: street lights, traffic lights, major power feeds and internal lines in the various buildings. She can sense a dozen different wi-fi connection points; the cell network buzzing all around; every cell phone in someone's pocket pinging to the local towers; and an AM radio station that plays polkas loudly (at least to her).

In a small alley nearby she takes a chance and when she's sure no one is watching, she tries to duplicate that feeling she felt yesterday near the elevator. Everything goes white and time passes she is sure but eventually she pops back to reality in her hotel room. Wait, this isn't her room. She quickly rushes out of the room. 207, she was in 311. Oops. Hopefully no one saw her, she thinks as she looks up and down the corridor. She hurries up the extra flight to her room and collapses on the bed for the night.

The next morning she decides no more practice and just spends some time at her laptop, writing some background material for an article. She was told to take a few days off but she's really not good at that. Eventually it is time to head downtown and she hires an uber to take her to the shop. No point is sneaking in when they are expecting us.

At the shop, she sees Jackson and she sits at the table he's at. "Heard anything yet?"

Lindy Tommasi

Lindy spent some time after breakfast in her hotel room. She watched some old TV shows on Netflix for awhile then thought about the changes to her body. Sure she could save on airfare by flying wherever she wanted to but that would draw too much attention. Using her enhanced eyesight would be easy enough without anyone knowing. The glowing thing? Well, that was right out. Just too obvious.

Then there was the latest development of being able to generate simple shapes made of light. A nice party trick perhaps but not very useful for daily life.

To take her mind off it she did a little photo editing until it was time for the meeting. Once there, she bought a frozen lemonade and joined the others.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. I almost lost track of time doing some editing."

"No, not long at all, all things considered." Obviously it wasn't who Lindy had been speaking to, but it was who answered. As on alert as the four of you are, and as long as Jackson had been sitting there with his head on a swivel, he can't recall seeing the man the next table over ever having sat down, much less having been there at all. For all Jackson could tell, the seat had been vacant moments before.

Now, there sits a man who appears to be elderly, but spry. Possibly in his eighties, with a certain level of sophistication to his visage that speaks of a man with a lifetime's worth of experiences. He wears no colors, only gray. Various tones of it to be certain, like an overcast sky threatening rain, but only gray. With his thinning, short white hair and pale complexion, the only real color anywhere on this man is his eyes. They are the blue of a summer day sky. Vibrant. Endless. And completely at odds with the rest of his appearance. Where his body seems old, his eyes seem somehow youthful but by no means naive. Where his clothing is all the grays of a foreboding storm, his eyes of the blue of a calm, clear sky.

"Please, order something. We may be here a while and you may find yourself wanting later on." His tone is casual and yet cordial, and even further yet so full of authority you feel he could get a desperate gunman to surrender and apologize for the trouble with but a few words. Of course, he is not issuing such a command, merely a thoughtful offer that he will wait a little longer to allow you all to procure food and or drink as if the extra five minutes means absolutely nothing to him in the grand scheme of the universe. Which it probably doesn't.

"Neat trick," Kara says. Years of working as a reporter has taught her not to expect anything and this was certainly unexpected. "How about I grab us a dozen donuts? Anyone want anything else?" She goes to the counter and buys a dozen donuts, a coffee for herself, and whatever anyone else asks for. While she is up, she tries to pinpoint anything electronic on the mysterious fellow. (She has accurate, analysis and radius on her sense so she should not need to be looking at him to do this. And if he is carrying anything, does his concealment (presumably) also apply to radio senses?)

(She'll return to the table after a moment.)

With cold clarity Jackson started to form a profile for the man before them, the information overlaying the elderly man's body within his mind's eye. "Teleportation... Or was it invisibility?" He guessed aloud, seeing no point in hiding his theories. When she asked, he informed Kara to bring him back a strong coffee. No sweetener, no cream, just something to help keep him awake.
