StarGuard hasn't been on since the 31st, but McGuffin has been around.

Does Kriv want to weigh in on this before we move on?

I guess that we need to make sure that Baern's build is nailed down sometime soon.

I've been looking around and there are a lot of people screaming that the barbarian is the worst possible class.

Utter nonsense.

Original Ranger is the worse. Barbarians are great. Dish great damage, tank as they should. Dangerous enough enemies can't simply ignore them. And some of their archetypes are great. Bear totem gives you resistance to all but psychic camage while raging. that's amazing.

Play what feels fun man, I don't have the impression Epic expects us to be 100% optimised so he can toss us through a meat grinder. For one, such games don't mesh right with the PBP format.

Seconded that non-US ranger is pretty terrible.

For Barbs, The Berserker archetype is... challenging (though it's 6th and 10th lvl abilities are cool). As a dwarf, Battlerager is open to you. It can be really helpful to have a Bonus Action attack (that doesn't exhaust you afterwards). Totem [Bear] is awesome (like Epic said). Ancestral guardians can help you be party tankish. And Path of the Zealot (your devotion to a divine brew) is cool too with amazing abilities throughout the levels.

Check em out. http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/

Yeah, I am not expecting optimized, though I am also prepared for it. I know most of the broken builds.

That said, I also don't really care too much. If rolling over the enemies I put in your way is fun for the party, then rock on. If you want me to dial up the challenge let me know. I can adapt.

Sounds like pretty awesome ways to 'smash face' regardless of the way that I go :)

Sorry, have been busy and in a... mood when I've had the time. I'll try to keep up.

Just my personal policy but just play whatever you yourself feel like Spectrum. At least for me everything else flows from there. I play to have fun and do cool stuff. In my IRL game my Dwarf Pyromancer recently went ahead of the rest of the group recently, walked into a trap, had to be fished out of the icy water by the rest of the party and spent the rest of the ensuing fight sitting high atop a creaky rafter and pouring fire on the corrupted ice elementals bellow.

Better and better. I'm liking this way of thinking about things :)

In the past, my experiences with the various versions of D&D have been more in the direction of very complicated wargames rather than actual roleplaying. They didn't last long for me.

Alrighty, so yeah, just let me know if you have any other questions. I laid out what I figured would be enough info for you guys to formulate posts covering some prepatory actions before heading to the gates to meet the scribe and head out. Mundane equipment is plentiful and easy to find here, so if it's mundane, you don't even need to ask if you can find it.

On a separate note, StarGuard hasn't been active for half a month without really any warning. Might call recruiting again to see if we can't get another adventurer.

Funny how his last action was to specifically leave the group.
