"Sahir." the young scientist corrects the woman, before smiling knowingly "Madame Lefort, I would say we are standing on the opposite side of a mirror, because your husband has words only to boadt about his wonderful wife." he said with a reverence on the style of ancient Egypt. Just for fun of course. "She is Mercedes," he begins. He didn't want to make Amy a assumptions about their relationship, so he let the space of silence for Mercedes to interject.

When the Deputy Chiefs and F.B.I. agent return later that afternoon, you’ve had considerable time to digest pages upon pages of info. There are some notes that were found in Ota’s desk which match his handwriting. Some of the notes are flow-charts; they look like Ota’s attempt to construct a diagram of a gang-hierarchy. Unfortunately, it’s a mess. There are multiple attempts at constructing it and it seems when Ota became dissatisfied with his efforts, he simply skipped down on the same page and started over…many times.

Lastly, You see a note left by Ota himself. It was found on top of some other papers in his center desk-drawer. “Meeting with Dan Uchibori and Ben Goto at the old Atlanta Asian Foods warehouse in Norcross. I may regret this.” The names are of the local Japanese and Korean Yakuza crime bosses, respectively.

You notice that Pak has a manila folder in his hand. “Here’s the lab work on the drops of blood found away from the killing area.”. He lays it down on top of some of the papers you have spread about your table. On the tab of the Folder it reads “DNA Casework Unit (DCU): Case #A1114”. Flipping it open, you see the standard laboratory printout of a sequenced strand of DNA. There are areas which have been circled with a marker by laboratory personnel. Beside these circles the phrases “Unidentified gene pattern” and “Never seen this gene before” and finally “’Mutant?”

Pak looks at you while you peruse through the folder. “’I’ve heard you’re a tough cookie. I have a feeling it’s gonna take more than just good police work to bring these people to justice.

Arachne

Ironically, as you open the letter and peer at its contents, it’s simply a request by Mr. Jackson to e-mail or text him in order to set up a meeting. But you’ve done one better. You’re calling him.

It takes a moment, but someone finally answers on the other end. “’Ray here!”. As you introduce yourself, his tone suddenly changes to one of excitement. “Miss. Yoder! I’m so glad to finally get to speak with you.” It’s a little weird. People you haven’t met typically have a far more negative reaction to you. Only a few people within the fashion industry and close friends respond to you with a feeling of genuine warmth.

Miss Yoder…or…do you prefer Arachne? I’ll just call you Arachne as you seem to be quite proud of your new identity. I’ll be in Atlanta briefly tomorrow. I’m organizing a large counter-protest. This weekend the Security First movement as well as the Knights of Genetic Purity will be staging rallies down at the Capital building. I want those people to know there’s a voice of opposition to their hateful ideas. I know that this is spur of the moment, but would I be able to see you? Maybe for just 30 minutes of your time? I myself am extremely busy without hardly a moment to spare, but I think you’re just the kind of person that the public needs to be better aware of…a successful, caring, and productive member of society despite your differences. Would you be able to meet with me?
OOC: You can RP out the dialogue as you like within reason (obviously no metagaming). Also, we’ll deal with opening the package during the next post…BWAHAHAHAHA!

Sahir (<----Correct!)

Madame Lafort blushes as she realizes the mispronunciation of your name. “Oh dear…” She mutters, “…my apologies I must have misheard my husband. But I do thank you for your kind words.

When you say, “She is Mercedes.”, there is a pause as Mercedes is slightly caught off guard. “Oh, I’m…I’m a friend of Sahir. We’ve just began dating. He was gracious enough to invite me to this beautiful house and lovely party.

Well, my dear, after I’m finished greeting the new arrivals, I’ll take you on a tour of the chateau. That way Girard and Sahir can complain about work together for a while.” The last part she adds with a smile before excusing herself and wandering over to a new set of guests.

Well, she certainly is sweet. A little hyper, but sweet.” Mercedes says before glancing across the room at Girard. “Monsieur Lafort on the other hand doesn’t look anywhere near as amused. So what’s he like at work? A curmudgeon?” she says as she sips expensive champagne out of a crystal wine glass.
OOC: Your relations with Dr. Lefort have always been good (at least relatively speaking). Your mannerisms at work have angered many of your peers, but Lefort seems to have accepted your arrogance better than most…maybe it’s because of your brilliance.

Sahir makes another ridiculous bow to the elderly woman as she bids her excuses and leaves the pair for the time being. His eyes linger on the woman for a moment, as Mercedes describes her as hyper and sweet. "Min almuakid..." he says mindlessly in arabic, turning to smile at Mercedes next comment. "Not at all, he is a man of extreme intelligence, it wouldn't be an overstatement to say that he knows the answer to the questions he asks, and when people dont get the answer right, you get that face out of him." he says pointing out the mildly annoyed face of Lefort, using the hand that is holding a glass of wine, extending his index finger at the Dr. "Most people dont realize he is a great teacher, marking him as pedantic. I think he is cool."

Robert took a mental note of the gang leaders names Dan Uchibori and Ben Goto and the various attempts descending in scribbles of trying to structure the group. It didn't tell him why they were meeting, but it gave him some leads. Possibly he was going to the leaders for the charts, but it made no sense why they would divulge the structure to a cop. Wherever this lead was going, it was lucky he was tough to kill.

"So a mutant ninja who can evade even traffic and business cams is the suspect?", asks Robert to himself mostly thinking out loud before lifting his head. "I've taken on my share of tough scrapes. Luck mostly really. You say people though. Is there more incidents or signs of more than one attacker? As far as I can tell, whoever the attacker was jumped into the middle of the group meeting in a circle for some reason and proceeded to slice them up like a vigilante.", adds Robert asking Pak directly.

The alternative to having multiple attackers was racism, pure and simple. Referring to people just because they are genetically different as people didn't sit right with Robert. Not only because he was one, but also because he knew where it lead. As federal agents and cops, he had hoped that they would be beyond the prejudice. Unfortunately, it was a growing element in society.

Arachne Yoder

A playful chitter, "Well, I guess it really depends on which me you're talking to. The quaint little farm girl? The dazzling business woman?" a moment of reflection.

"Amazing timing really. I was really only calling to speak with your assistant to try to plan something out."

A blush starts to cross over her chitinous cheeks. This didn't seem like the fawning fanboyism, or even the 'dahling I'm a better person for spending time with you', this seemed actually sincere. But then, he was a politician.

"You flatter me all too much! Too kind, far too kind."

"Well, as far as where to meet with you. Is this meant to be a quiet event? Or one that you need to be seen at? If the latter, might I suggest Serpas? Chef Serpas has an open table for me and a guest. I just need to give him some notice. If this is more quiet, there is an amazing cafe in right around the block from The Web. Best hamburgers you can imagine. It could also put you in front of the local flavor." suggesting the more noticeable mutant kind. After all, it made sense to offer such a thing to the up and coming politician.

Meanwhile, she was running the organizations through the back of her mind. Trying to remember what all she knew about Security First and Knights of Genetic Purity.

All of this was rather becoming more serious. Not that she was given much of a choice, but did she want this much publicity at such a risky time?

Pak nods his head when Robert mentions cameras. “’We have people looking at a couple of nearby convenience-store cameras. I’ve heard nothing from them yet. The attack happened in the evening, but since it’s summer there was still a lot of daylight outside. Maybe they’ll notice something unusual. I’ll give them a few more hours before giving them a call. They hate being rushed.

Pak is particularly interested in the notes that Ota was taking, especially the diagram on the chain of command. One thing that both of you notice is how small it is. Compared to say Italian or Russian gang operations in major cities, it looks like these organized crime families are much smaller in scope. Several of Ota’s diagrams have a Yuki Uchibori as a possible “’next in line”’ for the Japanese branch. But beside his name are scribbled the words “’Elderly/retired”. Also, written beside his name is an address. For the Korean branch, there seems to be no speculation about who is in control now that the boss and all known underbosses are slain.

Pak slides a piece of paper over to you. It has his phone number on it. “I’ve got your number already. We just need to decide how we going to proceed with the investigation. So far I see several potential crimes with capital murder being at the top. Their will undoubtedly be more criminal charges as the case unfolds. If you want, we can go look at the crime scene again, or we can proceed with a different priority like questioning possible witnesses, suspects, or accomplices. What are you thinking?

Arachne

Actually, I enjoy fine cuisine. Serpas sounds delightful. I know that I’m coming to speak with you about some political activism, but I’ll try not to ruin lunch. You know what they say about conversations over politics and religion. Would we be able to meet for lunch at noon? I’m not trying to be rude, but I’ll have another engagement in Atlanta at 2:00 P.M., so I’ll have to leave by 1:15 or so to make it.
OOC: You can flesh out the rest of the conversation prior to meeting in the restaurant as you wish in your own post.
On another topic, you have head of both the Security First movement and less so about the Knights of Genetic Purity. The former group is much more mainstream and seems to be a special interest group pushing for policies of required mutant identification and registration. Their crown jewel is to establish a federal database of mutants and require that all mutants within society be identified and DNA sequenced. The latter group is almost certainly regarded as more extreme. As such, their numbers are substantially smaller while not being small. They stop short of requiring extermination of mutants, but support legislation that detains, tests, and institutionalizes mutants whose powers are just too dangerous to allow in society. They use arguments similar to gun control, namely that you wouldn’t let a person own a tank, so why would you let someone walk around with the destructive power of a tank at their fingertips.

As for the package, you don’t get any red flags just by looking at it or holding it save for one thing. You do find it somewhat strange initially that a Textile manufacturer would write both your address and the return address with a black sharpie instead of having pre-made (or printed) label. But upon reflection maybe that’s not super strange. After all, many of the people who run these manufacturing-facilities are not the sophisticated, style-conscious entrepreneurs of the fashion industry.

Sahir

Over the course of the evening you fraternize with different party cliques. Though the conversations vary slightly, almost every group is discussing some aspect of the “Mutant Issue”. Many of the people here are not scientists, so they only have a rudimentary understanding of the biology of the mutant phenomena. Most, however, are sophisticated enough to understand the philosophical issues quite well; opinions are surprisingly diverse. Perhaps the thing that surprises you the most is the amount of anxiety they feel. You know you’re a mutant; and you don’t feel particularly dangerous to anyone. You can't help but wonder how they would react if they knew for certain that you were one.

The "debate" atmosphere of the party seems different than a university setting. These are not professors calmly debating ideas. And as you would expect among certain smart people, when one disagrees with another it can be perceived as an attack on one’s intelligence. A couple of the discussions get heated and - for a moment - you anticipate that a shouting match (or worse) might break out. But just when things start to get volatile, someone always seems to step in and remind the guests of who they are and where they are. Fortunately this brings them back to their senses.

At one point, you are standing next to Mercedes who is engaged in a discussion with an Atlanta-based movie producer. You just happen to look at Professor Lefort during a moment when he is looking at you. He motions with his hand bidding you to come join him. He’s standing next to an older female, whom you recognize (due to your Eidetic Memory) from a medical magazine as a world renowned physician. Her name is Elya Epstein and she is an acknowledged leader in the specialty of Mitochondrial disorders. She is in her early 60s and close to retirement. She's short and slightly hunched. At first glance she seems to be suffering from Osteoporosis. Whatever the case, Dr. Lefort awaits your response.
OOC: Camus, I noticed on your character sheet that you had an Advantage (I think) called "Speed of Thought". Is that something from 2e? I don't recognize it.

With the current climate of bias against mutants, last thing that was needed was one who killed ruthlessly being put on a show trial for the countless number of charges usually raised in big killings like this. The press would be all over it. Pak seemed to think that he needed an escort for his investigations, which didn't make Robert too happy, not that he let it show of course. His methods weren't exactly normal.

Taking the paper and putting it into his pocket, he nods at Pak. "I know the drill. Toss all charges that might even remotely apply and some are bound to stick. Ota being killed is horrible. Everything I heard, read, and saw makes he think he was a good cop who didn't deserve to die by the sword of a vigilante or hitman.", says Robert leaving out mutant intentionally. "So, the charges is your guys business. I'll so my best to find this killer or killers though. After that, it's your problem what the system does with him.", adds Robert with a note of annoyance on the possible charges. Anyone who had looked at his record knew he gave the way criminals were charged as a reason for leaving the bureau.

Looking again at the crime scene photos, Robert gives a nod to looking at the crime scene. "If its still closed, it's worth a look to see where it happen. Might give some idea where the attacker might have left or something the CSI boys missed. Can't hurt to have a new set of eyes on it anyway. If you don't mind though, I'd like to talk to some of the witnesses and suspects myself though. No offense, but a badge means lawyer up for some people. I've found that some people talk more freely when not being threatened by the government. if you can give me a list of people I should talk to and any suspects you have in mind I'd appreciate it.", continues Robert. In truth, he wanted to talk with this Yuki fellow and the FBI being there probably wouldn't sit well with him. Not after five people talking with a cop got killed.

The young man makes an excuse and leaves Mercedes in her discussion, as he moves hastily towards the professor and the famous physician. "Professor Lefort, doctor Epstein" he says, making a short bow. He said nothing else. Introducing himself would be simply repeating what Lefort had already told the woman, and Sahir knew Lefort hated to repeat himself.

Arachne paused for a good moment, really looking at the box, considering it upon her hands.

"Ray..." she frowns thoughtfully, "Something just came up that may be related to what we're talking about. Hopefully, I'm just a touch overly sensitive based upon what we've been talking about and this is just something very normal. Noon tomorrow sounds wonderful. If I don't call back in two hours" glancing up at the clock, "you might want to start checking the news. But yes, certainly, noon tomorrow I'll have my assistant make the reservations.."

With a rather distracted click of the phone, she drops the call, leaving the poor man confused.

She considered a moment, before calling out, "Judith, do you still have the number of that nice detective that helped us a few months ago? The one that was helping us with that unpleasant matter? This might be more of the same. What about the number for." she glanced at the box again, reading off the company, "Can you please call over to make sure that they sent this package? I'm probably being silly, but I'd rather nip this in the bud if someone is trying to be sneaky and underhanded." a moment's more pause, "Oh, and please call over to Serpas, a table for two."

Pak chooses to check the time on his wrist watch instead of his phone. "I'm gonna hook up with a couple of connections I have in th APD. I'm not doing any overt investigating without some armed support, and I'd like to head back over to the crime scene." Pak starts to head towards the door when he stops and turns back. "I'll contact you as soon as I hear from the crew responsible for analyzing the nearby security cameras. In the meantime I'd appreciate you letting me know where you're going when it regards investigating. If something happens to you at least I'll know where to start looking."

Deputy Cheif Glazier places two sheets of paper in front of you. On the first is a logon and password to a secure database within the APD. "This will allow you to access all photgraphed and photocopied information on this case only. Obviously, the password should not be given out to any else." He utters the last sentence as if he knows its insulting to your intelligence. "I'm required legally to remind you."

The second sheet has a list of known relatives, friends, and business associates of both Dan Uchibori and Ben Goto. At the top of the list is Yuki Uchibori, Dan Uchibori's father.

Arachne

Judith follows your instructions. One of her skills as an administrative assistant is prioritizing the orders given to her by her boss. "I'll call North Georgia Textiles first.", she says as she searches for their number on her phone. "Hmmm...I don't have a North Georgia Textiles in Dalton. Let me keep checking to make sure." After about 5 minutes of various searches, Judith pauses shaking her head in frustration. "There's no such thing as a North Georgia Textiles. There's a North Georgia Textile Supply out of Armuchee, Georgia, but that's a good 45 minutes away." She looks over at you before adding matter-of-factly, "...I'm just gonna call the cops. This is creeping me out." She dials up the APD and there's a back and forth for about 5 minutes on the phone as Judith explains the whole situation. The phone call ends with a "Thank you, officer!" and she turns back to speak with you. "They have some kind of package x-ray truck or something coming up from the airport. Apparently they help TSA at the airport when they are unusually busy. They'll be here in about 30 minutes. APD told me not to touch the package and to have all employees leave the building until they arrive. Wanna walk down to the cafe and get a coffee? We can come back and wait outside until they get here."
OOC: You can get in some RP with Judith if you want. Regardless, nothing happens over the next 30 minutes or so until the police arrive
After the police van pulls up some 40 minutes later, an officer exits the back of the vehicle and greets you. You can tell despite his best efforts that he is nervous meeting you. You've dealt with people long enough after your manifestation to notice even subtle signs of fear. "Uh...ma'am..." he says, "The package...if you'll just show me where it is, I'll take it to the vehicle and examine it for you."

Sahir

"Elya, this is Sahir Al-Zamir. He's the best and brightest among us at the CDC." Lefort says this as he pats you on the arm.

"Well, Mr. Al-Zamir, that is quite high praise indeed." Dr. Epstein says with a smile.

"You know, Sahir, I am glad that you managed to come. I was worried that your duties might keep you from taking a break. At some point I'd like to meet the young lady whom brought with you."

The conversation revolves around introductions and chit-chat about current events (especially regarding the latest in immunology, virology, and the Mutant Issue). The conversation has not gone on very long before Dr. Lefort pauses and looks at you with an expression more serious than his previous light-hearted countenance. "Sahir, you know that my son has been sick, right? I'm sure you have, as I've not been able to keep much hidden from friends, family, and co-workers due to my gossiping wife." He stops speaking for a moment, and you are unnerved as it appears that Lefort is beginning to tear up. His eyes water for a moment, but he brings himself back under control. "Things are not well with my boy, Sahir. I have Dr. Epstein here to assist me, but I'd like another brilliant mind to give me an opinion. Would you be willing to come look at my son and the data we've collected?"

"Dr. Lefort, what I can do for your son I do not know, but I will put my very soul into it. You know I am not a person that would believe in irrationals, and I do hate to give false hope to people, but if there is something I can do for him, I will find it." Sahir says. Somehow seeing people cry always trigers a whirlwind of emotions into his brain. He does not yet understand why he has committed so much to this cause now, perhaps something to do with empathy (not that he really understands much about it), but it is too late to backpedal now.

"I'll contact you as soon as I hear from the crew responsible for analyzing the nearby security cameras. In the meantime I'd appreciate you letting me know where you're going when it regards investigating. If something happens to you at least I'll know where to start looking."
This wasn't his first investigation. He knew the FBi and police playbook, which if mutants were involved would be used more as a guide. "I keep great notes.", says Robert with a slight smile. It was a serious matter, but after the day he's had a little light hearted remarks broke the tension a bit. Given his reputation as not following standard procedure, he wasn't known for his note keeping. "I'll probably head over the crime scene before anyone else gets there. Who knows, might find a number for the killer or killers. After that, maybe pay a visit to a few people. Shake enough branches and something good usually falls.", remarks Robert.
"Always good to have a reminder.", says Robert with a wry smile. He committed the logon and password to memory before leaving the sheet with the deputy chief. The second paper he folded up and put in his jacket pocket. Given his tactics, he was liable to get into some trouble, so didn't want to have a secure password and login with him in writing. Nodding at the people int he room, Robert makes his way out. "I'll keep you guy's updated.", is all he said as he departed the room.

Heading back to his car, he checks the time and how dark it was getting. He was going to the scene of the crime regardless, but hoped there would be some natural light still. Unlike Pak, he didn't worry about armed support too much. Even if it was a mutant, with what it did to Ota and the triad members armed support probably wouldn't be very useful anyway. Going over the names on the list before taking off, he committed as many as he could to memory just in case. Papers had a way of getting lost.
This next bit is assuming he can get to the scene of the crime and its bright enough for him to look around.
Pulling up near the scene after swinging by to pick up his stuff, but not too close near a fish market he makes sure to take his keys and lock the car. Never know what might happen after all. His face wasn't unfamiliar in this part of town. He'd been known to casually date one or two girls in the area occasionally and had a perchance for extra spicy Korean food. Upon arriving at the crime scene, he gives it a look over.

As Judith starts to do her research, Arachne's stomach dropped further and further. She didn't terribly mind the casual humanism that she encountered, it was a natural concern. What she did mind though was that people around here could be harmed by the senseless idiocy. She had a responsibility to Judith, to her neighbors, to her clients, to provide a place of safety.

Walking over to Judith's desk, she took the appointment calendar in hand. She had some schedule rearranging to get done and in quite a few cases, it needed a delicate personal hand.

"Come on, I'll buy you one of those caramel machino marianettes. Or whatever you call them." she offers a kindly smile, well, she tried to at least around her mandibles.

And so The Parlour was left closed for the day. It would reopen.. soon?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The phone calls went about as well as expected, cajoling and placating. Business could and would suffer from this. Work lost.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Be a nice freak, be a cute monster girl, don't be the thing out of nightmares. A serene smile towards the young officer.

"Yes, yes, of course. If you think that it'll be safe. I'd also be willing to tell you where the item is?"

And an inward sigh, if they did need to explode the item, how much work would be destroyed? How many more commitments would go unserved?
We rise from the ashes so that new legends can be born.

As you drive through this part of Norcross, there are little stores and restaurants of Asian ownership. Unlike some cities where a part of town is dominated by a particular ethnic group, this area is much more mixed. You might have a couple of blocks where Vietnamese shops dominate, then after that you’ll see Korean stores in the majority. It’s not even strange to see areas where Chinese and Thai billboards is intermixed on the same block.

After driving for about 15 more minutes, you start to leave the nicer commercial area for a section that is noticeably more run down. This area is dominated by storage facilities and warehouses of various types.

Signs of gang graffiti are much more prevalent here. Within minutes you pull off the road to the warehouse where the murder occurred. Sitting outside the front door is a squad-car with two police officers inside. When you pull up, one of the officers gets out of the car to greet you.
OOC: I’ll assume an exchange of pleasantries which you may include in your next post. These officers rotate with others to insure that the crime scene is not tampered with for the next several days until all investigators have finished their analysis. The following is based off your Investigation and perception rolls.
The police officer speaks as he opens the door for you to enter, “This is the only door from which you can enter the warehouse. It was unlocked when the we arrived from the anonymous tip. There is a back door and several loading bays. Not only are all the other entrances locked, but they are boarded up as well. There is not an AC or Heating vent that someone could have entered or left the building from either.” You notice that the warehouse is an old brick building; another thing that you notice immediately is that there is no random graffiti on it. It’s like no one dares to touch it.

When you enter the building, you immediately notice light shining through the glass windows around the top of the walls. A single giant fan is lodged in the ceiling in order to blow out the intense summer heat characteristic of Georgia. These windows do not open; and from what you can tell none of them appear to be broken.

As you make your way over to the outlines of the bodies, you see large areas of dry blood. This crime scene will remain untouched for just a few more days and then clean up efforts will proceed. Nearby are a group of round tables and some chairs. It’s possible they were making their way to the tables or away from the tables when they were attacked. There are stacks of pallets and wooden crates around, but none of them are especially high (the highest is probably 10 feet). As look up above the scene where the bodies lie, you do notice that there is steel girder that runs above your head for the length of the warehouse.

The officer walks in to Parlour with a metal detector in hand. He asks you two to wait outside just for a moment until he’s determined if it’s safe to move. Within minutes he’s emerging from your business with the package in hand.

“’Well ma’am…”, he says shaking his head, “…there’s no metal inside the package. That doesn’t mean it’s safe, but it’s unlikely to be a conventional bomb. I’m gonna Hazmat myself up and check the chemical composition of the interior. If you’ll excuse me.

The officer then takes the package into the van where he remains for a good half-hour. When he finally does emerge from the vehicle, he’s already removed his Hazmat suit and sealed it away.

Ma’am, there was a piece of fabric that was folded over and over upon itself in the box. As I pulled it out, everything seemed innocuous enough until I got near the bottom. There was indeed a fine white powder that laced the lower part of the cloth. It came out when I pulled the material free. I did some preliminary analysis on what I’ve collected. There are no traces of Ricin or Anthrax. In fact, it appears that the substance is simply powdered sugar. Of course, that’s only from my limited sampling. I’m taking the rest to the lab, but I’m pretty sure that’s all it is.

After spending a little more time in question and answer with you, he tips his hat, pauses for a second as he stares awkwardly at you. “Well…I’m glad you called us. You never know when these things can be lethal. I’ll turn this evidence over to one of our investigators. He should be calling you within 48 hours. If you get any more shady packages don’t hesitate to call.
OOC: you can carry the dialogue along as you like - both with the police officer and Judith. For the next post assume that your meeting with Ra’von Jackson is immanent. Please provide me with a Perception roll and a Will (defense) roll during your next post. Also, could you provide me with just a little more information about where you live as well as a little info on roommates, pets, security, etc. You can do this in the OOC thread. I know I'm asking for a lot. Please don't feel rushed to provide it. I'm getting in about 2 posts per week. It looks like that will be my pace until I eventually manage to get you three together. I don't want to rush things just for the sake of ease though. I'm content to keep this pace for awhile.

You offer aid to Dr. Lefort and he clearly looks relieved. The aging professor glances over at Dr. Epstein and then back to you. "For the longest time we were uncertain what was ailing Henri. He did not start showing signs of illness until he was almost 21. At first we thought he might have a viral infection...mononucleosis perhaps...but when the symptoms lingered I took him to Emory Hospital for more intense testing. That's when I was referred to Dr. Epstein. She developed a series of tests that are highly accurate in identifying types of cellular disorders. She concluded her battery of tests a couple of weeks ago. The results were...disturbing..."

Lefort pauses for a moment as his wife passes by to check upon him and goad him into being more social with the other guests.

"Dear, I'm going to take Drs. Al-Zahir and Epstein upstairs to speak with Henri for a moment." His wife's smile almost disappears, but she manages to hold it up. "Of course, dear. Take all the time you need." You can tell as she turns away that her mirth has somewhat abated.

Lefort leads you out of the Living Room, through a Den, and up a beautiful winding staircase made of solid granite. The opulence of the house is on display, but he does not stop to tell you anything about anything. He takes you straight down an obnoxiously long hallway to the very end. He brings his fingers up to his lips as if to "hush" you as he slowly opens the door. Inside you see a strange scene. There is a king-size bed located against the far wall with a young man lying in it. The normalcy is broken up by the myriad of machines, tubes, and wires attached to the youth. The young man looks as if he's asleep.

"We can talk, but I'd like to keep our voices low. He needs all the rest he can get." As you move ever closer to the side of the bed, you see pictures around the room of Henri, some with friends, some with family, some with a young woman...maybe a girlfriend. Something, however, is off. The photos look relatively recent, but the young man lying in the bed looks different. At first you're unsure exactly what it is, but then it becomes clear. The boy lying in the bed looks...well...fitter...stockier...as if he's gained weight, but mostly muscle weight. You can see evidence in his arms and chest. If it were not for the same face in each picture, you'd almost wonder if were the same person.

Dr. Epstein picks up a manila folder off a nearby metal stand. "Dr. Al-Zahir, would you glance over these images and lab reports? Before you do, I just want to warn you that this is not a joke. These are not fakes, nor are they part of some hoax. I've double checked all this data myself."
OOC: Ok, I'm gonna require 3 rolls: Here's the order that I need them in...Expertise: Physician, Expertise: Science (Biology is best), and finally...Insight.

Robert nods at the cop. Poor bloke had to watch a warehouse in this part of town, so the least Robert could do is be nice to him. "Got the short straw on duties huh? I would offer you some coffee or a donut, but the ones they had back at the command center would have just been a punishment.", said Robert sympathetically. During the drive over, he noted the various make up of the area and took in the possibilities. Could have been anyone from this area or an outsider. Sneaky, a sword, and Triad meeting most likely meant a ninja type mutant or at the very least someone who wanted to make it look like that.

"Thanks for the layout. Saves me a bit of time. I saw the photos and it doesn't look like it was a pretty scene in there.", says Robert before heading into the building. Just as indicated, the door seemed to be the only way in or out short of going through the heat exhaust fan. It wasn't going to be just a quick stand up meeting. Something was going down that would require sitting down for a bit it seems, which piqued Roberts interest. What were they meeting about? Granted the assembled group provided an easy target who likely had their share of enemies, but it took someone brazen to pull off the hit.

More concerning was the lack of graffiti on the outside. Something about this place scared people away at least the common taggers and made it a good candidate for a clandestine meeting. Surely, whoever showed first would have swept the place. So, the steel bar seemed like a good place to lay in wait if no one bothered to look up. The crime lab people wee good, so any cameras trained on the door would have been the first to be checked around the time of death. Something told Robert this attacker was too good to be caught on camera.

Looking to make sure the cop is still outside, Robert hopped up on some piles of material high enough for him to get a good jump on the girder. From that height, it only made sense that it had a better view. Perhaps the attacker even had a hidden way in or out.
Perception Image for any immediate signs of things like someone hiding, etc
Investigation Image for further checking for hairs, blood, etc
