Another possiblity would be the Christ Church Cathedral with the extensive underground shopping area. Their website

I was going for height. Churches are short in NYC terms.

Agreed. And, looking at the roof, Christ Church Cathedral has few places Gargoyles can perch for the day's rest.

As to questions, I'm good with an Avalon off-shoot, and Angel names. There are a LOT of angel names.

A quick wikipedia scan...

The 142nd (th?) building in New York City is 1166 Avenue of the Americas at 600 m, 44 floors
The tallest building in Montreal is 1250 Rene-Levesque at 226.5m, 47 floors

Why not go the original route and have a rich guy who owns a night-club that has a converted church on a high rise?

Barring that, I'm good with any of them. You could even go with a nightclub that is in a converted church. I'm sure there would be plenty of gothic churches from various universes that crossed over that'd fit the bill.

Ravenscrag is also a fun idea, a mansion turned into an asylum turned into a night club

Another interesting alternate setting, consider the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh. It's relatively new, 1926, but I could see the possibility of Klauder having gone the direction of importing gargoyles to make the building a bit more toward the Gothic side than the Modern side, maybe to contrast it against Carnegie Tech's more futuristic stylings. And then, you have the fun of Pittsburgh being a weird mishmash of the old (all of the steel mill baggage) and the new (technology is big here), combined with it being one of the up and coming places to film movies (in part due to CMU's ETC program being one of the ways to fasttrack into jobs like Disney's Imagineering).

There is nothing like that in Manhattan. Moving off Manhattan makes churches tall again. But in Manhattan, churches usually stand out by their lack of height.

Don't worry about the city - I am just using Montreal for my personal visual of where things are.
If you are looking at maps, regardless of church I am using Montreal as a personal visual/ map.

Fuzzy's idea is a good one, but also remember, this is a Street Level game. i am guessing that the desire for height is to be able to use the gliding/ wings? In the show that was mainly for spectacular entrances... and the odd intimidation check

We could go with the Merge route again and just choose a cool looking church and have it be a part of the New Merged Manhattan as our headquarters.

I'm not sure I understand the gliding part either. Do they have to walk/climb up to their perches before dawn? Without height, gliding is mostly useless.

As for location, I'd prefer that everyone were referring to the same maps. Churches in NYC can't possibly be significantly taller than 9 or 10 floors. That's nothin'.

And I still haven't decided if I'm in, sorry to add. I'm not feeling it. Are we new? (fresh from the creche?) Are gargoyles known to be in this part of the city since the merge? How many other GGs are there?

Yeah.. if you're not already a fanboy this might not float your boat based on how the original post was described.
