Haraiji Haru
HP: 38/38, AC: 16; Passive Per/Ins: 18/17; Lang: Common, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Thieves Cant, English

Haru angrily says. "We are not using children as bait. No one is seriously suggesting that." She looks toward Ennex before turning back to the town folk and natives, "But, if you do not bring all your children to a centrally guarded location, YOU are endangering your children. You will not be leaving your children here. You will accompany your children." She looks to the natives. "We only suggested locations here in town because they have solid walls. I have not seen your village. If you have any structures like these, we could have your children go there instead. Regardless, to stop these kidnappings, we are saying you should pool your resources, gather together in strength. Instead you bicker worse than children."

After the dust settles, she and Jericho go over the names of the missing children and find out where their homes were in relation whatever local map the sheriff has.

What you find out is that mostly, children from the outskirts of the town went missing so far. Whatever influenced them apparently did not enter the town proper...yet.

Jericho knows that it would be hard for anyone or anything to hide in the mines still in use, given that they see a lot of traffic.
However, there are two places where caves were initially explored for mining but then abandoned when there was no find justifying an extended mining operation.

Taking a pull from the Coffee he'd been offered, Jericho looked at the pattern he was seeing. Looking at the Sheriff & Haru, he say's(giving the marked map a wave)
"What this say to you? To me, it say's that he either afraid to enter Town or know's he'll be caught the second he does. Sheriff, what can you tell us 'bout these two abandoned mines?...."

(OOC: When you say outskirts do you mean all around town or just from, for example, the north and west?)

//All around town

" Plus", the Sheriff adds, " the longer the kids sleepwalk through town, the greater the chance someone will notice."
He looks at the map. " Mines? More like caves, really. Prospectors scouted them out. One's not that big, the other leads deeper into the mountain, but they never found anything of value. And since the Skyburn, no one's been in there again."

//The smaller one, actually.
And, of course, Skyburn is the term that has become synonymous with the day the ship came down. The term, or something similar, is now being used across all affected times.

"How long would it take to get to these two caves?" Haru asks. "If we could check them out and be back before sundown that might be a better use for our time."

" To the larger one? About 2 hours on foot, half that time with horses. Wouldn't recommend taking the wagon, though", the Sheriff says.
" The smaller one you can reach in about one. Going's a bit hard, you might want to tackle that one on foot."

Looking at the two locations, jericho thought "if i wus hiding kids, where would i go..."
Looking at the other's, he say's
"We'll go to the smaller on first. It's smack in the middle of both area's. If we find the youngsters, their first priority. This sumbitch is secondary...."
He'll pick-up his Rifle & the Map as he continues
"Any suggestions or ideas 'fore we go make our Pied Piper...Holey?"

You make your way out of town and towards the smaller cave. The going is easy at first but soon the trail becomes much less accomodating, thick, thorny bushes and strewn rocks slowing you down considerably. If the trail were easier, you might have managed the whole trip in 20 minutes instead of one hour.
As you approach the place where the map indicates the cave, you can see smoke rising from behind a couple of rocks...and someone whistling a tune...

You carefully sneak between the boulders to see a tall, burly man sitting there by a fire. He has a shaved head with a large scar running over his scalp and a large, though well-kept red beard. Two axes lie by his side and he is armored with heavy chainmail. Over the fire, a hunk of meat sizzles and the man is busy freeing two humanoid skulls - too large to be from children - from muscle and skin with a knife.

Deciding to take a bit of a risk, jericho'll slowly get up as he say's loud enough to be heard
"Hullo the Camp. Is it aright i head in?...."
