It was certainly something new. Not bad, but I found it a pity that you do not find out much about the protagonist at all. The film builds up a certain distance to its audience that way and I think it hurts it.
The effects and ideas implemented here, though, were top-notch and a delight to behold for someone like me who is into the whole sci-fi-time-travel-shenanigans.
Reminded me of the book " The Big Picture" by Sean Carroll where he explains that, since physical laws can usually be translated into equations and you can switch both sides in an equation without changing what it means, time is essentially meaningless for physical processes as they theoretically could happen in reverse without the laws behind them changing one bit. The only thing time really measures is the accumulation of entropy.
