COMPLICATIONS:
Enemy: Scarlet Spider, Spider-Man and Speed Demon.
Thrills: She is a total hedonist and craves excitement and often commits crimes or does inappropriate things just for the thrill of it.

Abilities 80 + Skills 14 (28 ranks) + Advantages 6 + Powers 26 + Defenses 9 = 135 / 135

Build Comments: Really dug Joystick in the limited stuff I’ve read with her in it. Some may not be familiar with Joystick, but she rocks, especially as a bad girl gone good, then bad again, which did one a great Thunderbolts arc. She was a former Marvel villain who became a Thunderbolts member, then turned on the team (shocker). N ow, of course, you expect The Thunderbolts to do that sort of thing, but the way she did and her reasons were very well written, even if the overall plot was the usual implausible “cosmic game” thing comic writers do with characters like the Grandmaster and such.

She started out a Spidey villain and as such, she has some of the usual powerset that allows people to hang with him: enhanced strength, speed and a gimmick power, her Joysticks.

Secret Origins: Virtually nothing is known of the past of Janice before she first appeared as Joystick, including the origin and nature of her apparent superhuman powers. When she was much younger, her father, a gambler, taught her his philosophy to 'always have a card to play'. She then used this philosophy to great advantage when she helped a mobster rob her father to save her own life. Later, she was a student at the University of Arizona, living a life she later considered to be a bore. After her sophomore year, something happened to change her, apparently resulting in her death; in her "new life," she became determined to live life on the edge, and began taking extreme risks. She then disappeared for three years before reappearing as Joystick.

The Story so Far: Joystick then joined the Crimson Cowl's Masters of Evil. She was one of the Masters ambushed and stripped by the Thunderbolts as part of their plan to infiltrate the Cowl's base. She bounced around from job to job, whatever sounded thrilling and challenging at the time, and eventually joined the new Thunderbolts. She didn't get along well with the rest of the group, and was revealed to be working for the Grandmaster. She attacked Speed Demon, showing that she possessed superhuman speed similar to his. It was revealed that the Grandmaster's plot was for Joystick to steal Zemo's Moonstones.

Characterization: Janice is a thrill-seeker and loves to get in trouble just because. She also loves a challenge, which is why she often tries to completely destroy her opponents mentally as well as physically.

Friends and Foes: Whoever can give her the best time when she wants it. She’s currently working out of Bludhaven with Midnight’s Fire mainly because she has a thing for Nightwing.

Arrogance: Being an immortal, he feels that he has seen and done about everything on Earth which makes him very arrogant.
Motivation: Taking what he feels is his rightful place as the ruler of the planet.
Relationships: Despite their differences, he does love his daughter, Scandal Savage, although he often has an...interesting way of showing it.
Rivalry: He often feels that other would-be world conquerors like Ra's Al Ghul, Doctor Doom and others are as much of a hinderance to his plans as the heroes that oppose him.

Abilities 96 + Skills 49 (98 ranks) + Advantages 40 + Powers 37 + Defenses 16 = 238 / 238

Build Comments: I’ve always thought Vandal Savage was a good concept. The immortal villain is an old trope, but having one that was actually a caveman and has seen all the ages of man was a nice twist. I’ve also thought he was always undersold as a mastermind villain. For one, he’s got a great name. Second, there is no substitute for experience. If you’ve seen pretty much everything that has ever happened over thousands upon thousands of years, you should be pretty much the best at everything. I thought about giving him a bunch of 20’s in skills, but like the DC writers, I held back. For now, anyway. That could easily change.

His PL is solely based on his Expertise (History) ranks and of course, if he acquires something like the Spear of Destiny or some other great archifact or tech, you can throw that out the window.

Secret Origins: In the days of prehistory, 50,000 BC, Savage was a caveman named Vandar Adg, leader of the Cro-Magnon Blood Tribe. He was bathed in the radiation of a mysterious meteorite, which gave him incredible intellect and immortality. An observer from the Bear Tribe would later approach that same meteorite and become Savage's eternal nemesis, the Immortal Man, possessing the power to resurrect as a new persona every time he is killed.

The Story so Far: Savage's first mark in the history came when he and a select group of people successfully undermined and destroyed the lost city of Atlantis. That group of people became known as the Illuminati, with Savage serving as its leader.[volume & issue needed]

He claims to have ruled hundreds of civilizations under hundreds of names: Khafre, Cheops (builder of the pyramids), Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar (though he has also claimed to have participated in the murder of Julius Caesar, but Pre-Crisis he claimed history was inaccurate and Brutus failed), Genghis Khan, Blackbeard, and Vlad the Impaler, to name a few. He also terrorized Victorian era London as Jack the Ripper. He realized that his prominence could cause him to be killed accidentally, so he decided to work behind the scenes. He has also worked as close friends and advisers to the likes of Erik the Red, William the Conqueror (whom he advised to invade England under the name Sir Von Savage), Napoleon Bonaparte as Marshal Savage, Otto von Bismarck (whom he helped to invade France as Baron Von Savage), and Adolf Hitler. He also led the Spanish Armada in its attempted invasion of England (suggesting he may have actually been Alonso Pérez de Guzmán). He was the court physician in France and even used the royal family for syphilis experiments.

In modern time he has focused on ruling the world, as he feels it is his destiny. He has been opposed by the many superheroes and superhero teams including the Avengers, the Defenders, the Justice League and the Justice Society of America.

Characterization: According to Lex Luthor, there may be evidence to suggest that Savage was the first cannibal on record. Though the Calculator took this to be a joke, Luthor was apparently serious, and Savage has not shown much regard for human life.

Nemesis: Wildcat.

Abilities 68 + Skills 33 (66 ranks) + Advantages 25 + Powers 0 + Defenses 13 = 139 / 139

Build Comments: Sportsmaster was Casey Jones before Casey was Casey, really. And he was kind of a silly concept for ages, but somehow in Young Justice, they made him into a credible bad ass recurring villain for the team and you actually bought him as a real threat. Amazing what you can do with a character with the right writing and opportunity. Maybe they should have the DC animated writers take over the comics... ;)

This version is mostly based on his animated incarnation in the series. I was going to do a more iconic version, but as stated before, he kinda sucked in the comics. There was another Sportsmaster that was a rip-off of the Taskmaster but I stayed away from that version for now. Maybe he'll show up on one of the other Earth's of the Thorpocaverse later on.

Secret Origins: Little is known about Sportsmaster’s past other than that he was a great high school athlete, with the last name of Crock, that got in trouble and eventually became a mercenary with a penchant for using sports themed weaponry.

The Story so Far: Sportsmaster and his wife, Paula once worked together as assassins; He used to do freelance work for the League of Shadows. During one mission, Paula took the fall for both of them. She ended up in prison, and in a wheelchair. He raised his two daughters, but they were eventually taken away because he was emotionally and verbally abusive. After a bought with the bottle, he eventually got himself back together and became one of the top mercenaries in the world. But he still wants his daughters back and even though he’s been searching for them or years, he hasn’t found them yet.

Characterization: Sportsmaster's large stature is a clear indicator of his personality. He is arrogant, cocky, and blunt. Supported by his size, he is very aggressive when in battle. Despite his arrogance, he will compliment someone should they surpass his expectations and he rarely loses his cool in dire situations.

Friends and Foes: Sportsmaster generally worked alone but he does still feel he owes Paula and has paid for a lot of her care once she got our prison despite them getting divorced during her time away.

COMPLICATIONS:
Bang…Thwip…Twang…: Onomatopoeia only speaks in...Onomatopoeia. He makes sound effects of what is happening or what is about to happen, even though he can talk normally.
Motivation: Killing heroes, his reasons why are known only to him.
Rivalry: Green Arrow and Batman, two of the heroes hasn't been able to kill.
Secret Identity: Even though he has revealed his face to Batman, his true identity and background are still unknown.

Abilities 70 + Skills 36 (72 ranks) + Advantages 36 + Powers 0 + Defenses 16 = 158 / 158

Build Comments: One of, if not, the best Kevin Smith comic creation, Onomatopoeia. He stared out as a Green Arrow villain then Smith used him in his two latest Batman arcs, Cacophany and The Widening Gyre. He's a street level villain that has a thing for killing street level heroes, and he never talks, he only makes the sound of what is occurring, like "bang", "twang" or "boom", stuff like that. It's a fun visual stunt and he's turned out to be a pretty effective villain. I'm surprised he doesn't get used more, but Smith probably has a say in that, so he probably only gets to work for him.

He's been shown to take some pretty serious damage and keep rolling, so I didn't know whether to give him a high toughness or Regeneration, but for now, I just gave him a couple of ranks in Luck limited to Recover, and left it at that. I may change it if I can confirm whether he has a healing factor or not.

Secret Origins: Nothing is known about his past except that in his secret identity has a family and his house has a secret trophy case displayed the masks of all the super heroes he's killed.

The Story so Far: Onomatopoeia, is a complete mystery. He first appeared in Star City a few years ago. After killing two lesser-known vigilantes, he set his sights upon the Arrow family, seriously injuring Connor Hawke in a pitched battle. He later tracked his prey to the hospital to finish him off, but was stopped by a blood-transfer weakened Oliver Queen. After Connor's successful surgery, Onomatopoeia fought the elder Green Arrow, doing quite well despite being hit with several arrows. He fell from the hospital roof during the fight but Onomatopoeia was able to escape before Green Arrow even had a chance to see where he had fallen.

A few months later he showed up in Gotham City. For reasons unknown, he assisted the Joker in escaping Arkham Asylum as bait for Batman. He also shot Deadshot point blank in the head but was unsuccessful in killing him, overlooking Deadshot's armored facemask and his ability to play dead. Onomatopoeia paid Joker to start a gang war against Maxie Zeus who was using a derivitve of The Joker's laughing gas as a drug called "Chuckles". Eventually Onomatopoeia fought Batman in hand-to-hand combat and lost. He escaped by stabbing the Joker in the heart and leaving Batman to choose either to capture him or save Joker. Batman decided to save Joker's life instead of chasing after Onomatopoeia.

Characterization: Onomatopoeia speaks only in sound effects, however he has spoken one actual word before, that word being "onomatopoeia". He said this word when a dying superhero asked him "who he was" but she never heard it since he shot her before he said it.

Friends and Foes: He seems to have a great desire to take down Green Arrow and Batman since they have been the only heroes he’s been unable to defeat. And The Joker is a little upset at him for that whole stabbing him in the heart incident…

Disability: Griffin's physical state is in a constant of evolution/devolution and he sometimes has problems with being coherent
Involuntary Transformation: When expending extra effort or in extremely stressful situations he can devolve into a four-legged, bestial griffin form
Monstrous Appearance: He's an anthropomorphic griffin. He doesn't blend

Abilities 50 + Skills 9 (18 ranks) + Advantages 8 + Powers 58 + Defenses 11 = 136 / 136

Build Comments: One of Marvel’s better powerhouse jobbers, The Griffin. He had a pretty good turn recently in his animalistic form as Hercules' mount in the Herc book from a few years ago when Herc was depowered and I think that might be his best career turn at this point. He was Herc's mount and he was actually pretty heroic. But by the end, he was back to his old devolving self. Visually, he's pretty neat and I'd like to see maybe a Dragon Man (super team pet gig) role for him, but it won't happen. He's appears to be a pain to draw, so he won't show up much.

Secret Origins: Johnny Horton was a street thug who was known for his big fist, bad temper and small brain. Johnny tried to make a name for himself when he joined a gang in New Orleans but wasn't going anywhere. A guy from Chicago hired Johnny for some local muscle and they were impressed so they introduced him to the Secret Empire.

Johnny told them he wanted to be more than a cheap hood and the Empire promised to make him a super villain. Johnny agreed and underwent a dramatic operation where the Secret Empire permanently grafted onto him a mane, wings and replaced his hands with lion's paws. His face turned dead white after the procedure and the Griffin was born.

The Story so Far: His first assignment for the Secret Empire was to kill the Beast. After a couple of altercations, Beast is able to defeat Griffin with assistance from Angel. Horton would continue to work for the Empire and still consume the serum that transformed him into the Griffin. The serum drove him insane and he ended up killing the doctor that performed the surgery. This led to a confrontation with Beast and Spider Man where the two heroes barely defeated him. He would later team up with Crimson Dynamo and the Titanium Man to battle the Champions. This group shortly disbanded after they were defeated. The Griffin's facial features would change during a confrontation with Spider Man and Wonder Man. The Griffin evolved once more and his face became more bestial. The Griffin was presumed dead when a burning plane he attempted to lift fell on him during that battle. The Griffin survived when he dug a tunnel with his claws under the burning wreckage.

After several altercations with heroes over the years, he was hired on as part of The Hood’s gang. After a robbery and the burning of one of Hood's hide outs, Griffin got drunk with other members of the gang and got arrested for their recklessness. He and the others would later be set free by the Hood. However Griffin was angry that the Hood didn't free them earlier. He tried to kill the Hood but was wounded in the process as the Hood shoots him multiple times in the legs.

The Hood had powered up members of his Masters of Evil with the Norn Stones which were given to him by Loki. The Hood wanted to juice up his crew so they could go hunt down some Avengers. The Griffin told Mandrill that they were being used and that he had no interest in the job, but that he's too afraid to run and have a price on his head. Mandrill tried to convince him that this was their opportunity to become part of Osborn's A-list team and taking down the Avengers would be a great chance to bump up their status. Johnny told him that he would rather die and was only doing this for the money. Mandrill would spot Spider Man and Spider Woman with his extended vision and the two engaged the Avengers. Spider Man noticed that the Griffin was more powerful than their previous encounter before he was blasted off the roof by a mind-controlled Spider Woman. Griffin and Mandrill enjoy the assault on Spider Man by the possessed crimson beauty. Spider Man refused to strike Spider Woman as he got bombarded by venom blasts and body blows. Spider Man kept talking to Spider Woman until she told the wall-crawler that she was being controlled by the monkey faced villain. Spider Man replied "I know what to do" as he finally fell from one final venom blast. The two villains approached Spider Woman when Mandrill got webbed in the mouth and Spider Man knocked out the Griffin with one powerful uppercut. Spider Woman blasted the Mandrill in the mouth and Spider Man webbed both villains together. The Griffin was apprehended and sent to the Raft.

Characterization: Griffin is a powerful foe, but his condition makes his intelligence fluctuate between dim-witted adult to practically animalistic, making him an unpredictable but easily outwitted.

Friends and Foes: He doesn’t have regular allies or enemies, he generally just does the work he’s paid to do.

Build Comments: He’s the Juggernaut…bitch.

Secret Origins: Cain Marko is the son of Dr. Kurt Marko, who was an atomic researcher, and Marjorie Marko. Cain's parents separated and he was eventually sent to boarding schools, which he continued to get expelled from. Cain's mother died shortly after when he was only three. Dr. Marko's wealthy colleague, Dr. Brian Xavier, another atomic researcher, died in an accident, and Dr. Marko eventually married his widow, Sharon Xavier, for her great wealth. On marrying Sharon, Dr. Marko moved into her large Westchester County mansion, and, after yet another expulsion from school, eventually moved Cain in also.

Dr. Marko favored his gentle, smart step-son, Charles Xavier, to his own son, which led to Cain bullying the young Charles and Dr. Marko secretly beating Cain. Cain was abusive to his stepbrother at every opportunity. Charles' telepathic powers began emerging when he was still a boy, around ten, and, on one occasion, he found himself experiencing the anguished thoughts and emotions of Cain, after Cain had been beaten by his father. The inexperienced young Charles could not control or end his contact with Cain's mind at this time. Somehow, Cain sensed that Charles was reading his mind and had discovered his secret shame.

Sharon died shortly thereafter, of a broken heart, leaving Charles to live with his step-father and abusive step-brother. During an argument in Dr. Marko's private laboratory over money, Cain accused him of having a hand in Dr. Xavier's "accidental" death, at the disaster at Alamogordo. Dr. Marko was quick to be steadfast in defending himself, taking Cain by the collar of his coat and yelling at him to "never say that again". Charles was stationed outside the door, however, and overheard the conversation. When Cain realized, he intended to cause a ruckus, by destroying some of his father's chemical experiments, throwing a vial of green liquid that caused similar containers to shatter, spilling the chemicals throughout the laboratory. The collision of the different substances caused a violent explosion that left the lab aflame. Though Dr. Marko managed to rescue both Cain and Charles from the fire, he himself died of smoke inhalation. In his dying words, Dr. Marko begged forgiveness for not saving Dr. Xavier when he had the chance, and telling Charles to keep his powers secret from Cain. Cain was standing over, however, and heard of Charles' gift, which led him to believe that Charles had invaded his thoughts deliberately. From then on, Cain regarded Charles as his enemy.

Cain continued to live in the Xavier mansion, growing increasingly resentful of his step-brother's scholastic and athletic achievements as well as his telepathic powers (which Charles mastered as he grew older), while Charles entered England's Oxford University. Cain even pushed Charles too far one day and the two got into a fight, which Charles easily won. What happened to Marko after he left home was unclear. However, it was known that Cain became a mercenary and was eventually imprisoned in a Third World jail, when the revolutionary forces he was fighting for were defeated. In the jail, Cain became friends with a fellow mercenary, Black Tom Cassidy, who used his mutant powers to help them escape.

Later, Marko and Xavier found themselves serving together in the same U.S. military unit in Korea. Marko deserted under fire and Xavier went after him to bring him back. Xavier followed Marko into a cave that housed the lost secret Temple of Cyttorak, a powerful mystical entity. Marko impulsively grabbed a glowing ruby from the lap of an idol and read the inscription: "Whosoever touches this gem shall possess the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. Henceforth, you who read these words shall become forevermore a human juggernaut." As Xavier watched, the gem's mystical power transformed Marko into a larger, superhuman being. Just then, enemy high explosive bombardment caused a cave-in and Marko was buried under several thousand tons of rock. Xavier survived and returned to his unit.

The Story so Far: Due to the fact that he did not need air or food to survive, Marko, now the Juggernaut, eventually dug himself free with his new-found, immense strength and invulnerability and, after many years, made his way to America, to use his power to kill Xavier, leaving the gem in Korea. As the Juggernaut, Cain had released his soul to the deity Cyttorak, becoming his human avatar. Marko attacked Charles, now a professor and founder of the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, at their old home and learned that his new helmet protected him from psychic attacks. Professor Xavier and his group of X-Men were helpless to stop him, until Professor Xavier asked for the assistance of the Human Torch, who burned the rivets of Cain's helmet, allowing for the X-Men to remove it. After Professor Xavier sent Cain into a coma, he locked him in a room in the basement of the mansion. While attempting to remove the mystic powers of Cain, Professor Xavier placed the two of them in a device and, due to the intervention of the Factor Three, Cain was revived and escaped.

Juggernaut was hired for a job, to kill the X-Men, by Erik the Red. The Shi'ar warrior hired Cain and Black Tom and the two set a trap for the X-Men, at Banshee's Cassidy Keep, where Cain first met the X-Man Colossus. Cain proved to be enough to overpower the mutants, but when Black Tom was thrown into the waves below the castle, Cain withdrew and jumped in after him. Cain and Tom resurfaced in New York. Over the years the Juggernaut has clashed with Xavier and both the original and new teams of X-Men repeatedly. He has also formed a successful criminal partnership with his old friend Black Tom Cassidy.

Also in intervening years he had clashed several times with Spider-Man, The Hulk, Superman, Invincible, Spider-Woman and the Avengers.

As the result of an undisclosed battle with Cyttorak, his patron deity, Cain lost most of the power of the Juggernaut. Thereafter, Cain reconciled with Xavier and joined the X-Men. In an unusual turn for someone of Cain's personality he immediately befriended several people at the mansion including a young mutant boy named Sammy Pare, a.k.a. Squidboy, who had a positive influence on him. Amazingly, Cain was exonerated of all his crimes and allowed to go free despite having numerous outstanding felonies both at home and abroad.

Later, Black Tom Cassidy resurfaced and Juggernaut joined his new Brotherhood of Mutants, with the intention of betraying the group and warning the X-Men when he had the chance. Squidboy stumbled upon the Brotherhood having a meeting, and thinking that Juggernaut had betrayed the X-Men he became angry and started yelling. Annoyed, Black Tom killed the boy. Furious with rage, Juggernaut tried to kill his former friend. When the Brotherhood were sucked into a black hole by the second Xorn, Juggernaut accompanied them to make sure Nocturne (another mole) would be safe if everyone survived and to make sure the Brotherhood didn't try to attack the mansion again.

More recently, Cain was among the various teams of X-Men attempting to protect Professor Xavier from the wrath of the Incredible Hulk. Though Cain had recently come into possession of the gem of Cyttorak, he was still unable to call forth his full power during his first battle with the Hulk and was quickly defeated. Cyttorak himself appeared before Cain and explained that Cain himself was the cause of his own weakness. Cyttorak intended for Cain to use the powers granted to him to fulfill his own selfish desires and needs and not for heroic purposes. Cain finally accepted his role as Cyttorak's avatar to it's fullest extent and regained his full power. He challenged the Hulk once more and the Hulk was unable to defeat him once again. As Cain continued to push the Hulk back, the Hulk used his cunning to use Cain's own momentum and near-unstoppable movement against him, which briefly removed him from the field of battle long enough for the Hulk to escape.

Shortly afterward, Cain refused all of Xavier's attempts to thank him. Before leaving, he gave Xavier a warning not to send anyone to try to find him.

Cain engaged in a fight with Skaar, the son of the Hulk. He was defeated and launched into orbit.

Cain was later found unconscious by Spider-Man. Spider-Man had no idea who did this and then the government arrived and transported him to a prison. After the Siege event, Cain appeared as a member of Luke Cage's Thunderbolts.

When the Serpent was freed by Skadi, he called seven hammers to Earth. The Juggernaut was transformed by one of these hammers, becoming one of The Worthy; Kuurth, Breaker of Stone. He then heavily damaged the Raft, allowing many prisoners to escape, before flying away.
During the last battle between the Avengers and The Worthy, Kuurth was defeated by Wolverine using his Uru armor, and lost his hammer when the Serpent was killed by Thor. After losing his hammer and he had to recommit himself to Cyttorak and is now as powerful and destructive as ever.

Characterization: Cain Marko is a tortured soul who is torn between his desire for redemption and his desire for the power of The Juggernaut.

Friends and Foes: He has a complicated relationship with his step-brother Charles Xavier and his former best friend Black Tom Cassidy.

Build Comments: The first FF book I ever read as a kid in the 70’s I believe was the 2nd time the FF had to go into the Negative Zone to confront Annihilus. Sue was pregnant with Franklin and was in bad shape and Reed found out that it was the cosmic radiation they had all absorbed during their fateful space mission and that if it wasn’t dealt with, both Sue and Franklin could die. And the cure could be found in the Cosmic Control Rod, which of course the Big A was not going to give up willingly. So the 3 guys went through the portal, big fight ensured, Reed siphoned what he needed form the Rod and all was well. Fun Silver Agey stuff.

So of course, Annihilus has been a fave of mine ever since and I love it when he shows up. Annihilation was his tour de force, of course, and I’ve already professed my love for that series, not only for the amazing character resurrections it performed, but just because it was epic and fun, what comics should always be.

Secret Origins: Long ago in the Negative Zone, when the Tyannans seeded life spores on barren planets, one of their ships got hit by a meteor and was sent onto the volcanic planet Arthros. Before dying, the crew released spores. Many years later, one of the spores evolved into an insectoid creature. Due to a mutation he had a high intelligence. Finding the wreckage of a Tyannan starship, he used a special helmet to transfer all information about the advanced Tyannan technology to himself. This caused him to grow stronger and smarter, gaining a "Cosmic Control Rod" and body armaments. The creature became known as Annihilus and he set out to destroy anything that was a threat to his existence. He planned to conquer or destroy all planets nearby Arthros. Other creatures came from the spores as well, but Annihilus used his power so he would rule above them.

The Story so Far: When Sue Storm was having cosmic ray-related pregnancy complications, the remaining three of the Fantastic Four went into the Negative Zone to find anti-particles that could treat Sue. Annihilus's minions captured Reed, Johnny, and Ben, but the three managed to escape with the cosmic control rod. After siphoning off the needed particles and returning to earth, they returned it to the Negative Zone.

Annihilus has become aware that the Positive Zone universe is starting to over take the Negative Zone. With his army, the Annihilation Wave, Annihilus has travelled to the Positive Zone and began a purge of all life that his wave has come upon. He sent out seekers to capture the Heralds of Galactus. He made a deal with Thanos that saw the capture of Galactus himself possible. The Annihilation Wave has destroyed countless worlds. At this time, Annihilus also gained possession of the Quantum Bands.

While Annihilus had led everyone to believe that he planned to conquer the Positive Zone and become ruler of the universe, he secretly planned to use Galactus as a massive Power Cosmic bomb to destroy both universes. Thanos learned of his plans, but was killed by Drax before he could set Galactus free. Drax freed the Silver Surfer, who was able to free Galactus. An angry Galactus completely destroyed the Annihilation Wave in one massive attack.

Still not discouraged and knowing full well he could regroup his armies, Annihilus faced off against Nova. Possessing both the Cosmic Control Rod and the Quantum Bands, Nova seemed to have little chance of destroying Annihilus. When Phyla-Vell was able to take the Bands from him, Nova was on a more level playing field. Nova was able to kill Annihilus by ripping his intestines out through his mouth.

But Annihilus can never truly die, he is reborn constantly. His latest incarnation has grown rapidly, and more powerfully than ever and scouts in the Negative Zone have relayed to Reed Richards that Annihilus has been building a new Annihilation Wave that will dwarf his last one. And that he is simply biding his time, waiting for his next opportunity to lash out at the universe.

Characterization: Annihilus believes that he should be the supreme, and last being in the universe and both this, and the Negative Zone should be his to rule. His reason is the only reason he listens to and he loathes pretty much all other life. His strategic intelligence and his nearly limitless resources truly make him a threat to all like.

Friends and Foes: He has plenty of enemies but his biggest rivalries are with Blastaar, who he has been at war with for years over who is the rightful ruler of the Negative Zone, and the Fantastic Four, who have thwarted his plans several times over the years.

Responsibility: To Lord Annihilus.

Abilities 94 + Skills 17 (34 ranks) + Advantages 27 + Powers 87 + Defenses 9 = 234 / 234

Build Comments: Ravenous was a new character created for Annihilation. He was essentially Annihilus’ Herald, imbued with the Opposing Force, similar to the Power Cosmic, that made him close to the equal of most of Galactus’ heralds (and probably better than Red Shift). A lot of his build is conjecture, but since he fought The Surfer pretty well and Ronan had to burn some HP to finally take him out PL14 felt right.

He actually hung around the Cosmic Marvel scene for a good while after Annihilation, taking over part of Kree space while he awaited the return of Annihilus and continuing to piss off Ronan. He finally got taken down in War of Kings, but I’m not sure where he is now.

Below are his Currs, big, dog like things that were tethered to him and allowed him to channel the Opposing Force. If they are taken out, he loses his connection, but considering they come back in about 30 minutes, he can usually figure out a way to bide his time until he come back for more.

He’s also sometimes joined by The Seekers, a bunch of dudes from his home planet that look exactly like him, except not as colorful or big. But they are pretty powerful mooks and they didn’t have that much trouble taking out Terrax in a horde, so PL10 seemed OK for them.

Secret Origins: Little is known of his past. All that is known is that he was a powerful warrior from the Negative Zone that Annihilus chose to weird his Opposing Force to combat the Heralds of Galactus. It is rumored he gained his name by consuming the flesh of one of his defeated foes.

The Story so Far: Ravenous first appeared as part of the Annihilation Wave led by Annihilus as the leader of the Seekers, beings whose sole purpose was to seek out those who possessed the Power Cosmic such as the Heralds of Galactus and capture them. Ravenous first appeared attempting to capture the Air-Walker, but rejected him upon discovering he was an android. He battled the Silver Surfer several times in attempts to capture him, but was each time defeated. He battled along side the Annihilation Wave for the remainder of the war.

Following the end of it he became the default leader of what was left of the Annihilation Wave forces. As part of the treaty ending hostilities the entire Annihilation Wave was ceded a number of territories formely belonging to the Kree among them the Kree throneworld of Hala where Ravenous oversaw the birth of a new Annihilus.

Shortly afterwards the Phalanx launched an invasion of the Kree galaxy under the command of Ultron. Ronan the Accuser and others came to Hala looking for a way to stop the Phalanx invasion. They tricked their way into the Kree throne room where they easily overpowered Ravenous and Ronan activated thousands of Kree Sentries hidden under the palace. At the request of Ravenous, Ronan used them to destroy the attacking Phalanx before sending them to liberate Kree space.

During the War of Kings, Ravenous was taken into custody by the newly formed Nova Corps, but was liberated by Annihilus and his new Annihilation Wave where he has taken his station at Annihilus’ side once again.

Characterization: Ravenous is a cunning and ruthless combatant. He is also completely loyal to Annihilus.

Friends and Foes: He is honor-bound to serve Annihilus. He also wants a rematch with Ronan to avenge his earlier defeat.

Here are his minions, The Seekers and his hounds that bind him to the Opposing Force, The Currs.

You know, this version of Annihilus image, his face looks like it was combined with Ambush Bug from DC Comics.

Nice Annihilation stuff. Marvel's done a good job of keeping him active as a mega-villain, even after basically resetting their Cosmic scene. Thanos' gang is good to see, too- I've forgotten most of their appearances, so if I ever built them, I'd have to probably crib these for info :).

Build Comments: So I have never read anything with Midnight’s Fire in it, but from the Wikis, he seemed pretty cool, so he gets some early run here in the Thorpacoverse.

As I've mentioned before, with a combined universe, New York would be WAY overrun with heroes and villains from all the major companies, TV series, movies, etc. that are set in New York. Talk about East Coast bias! So I am shifting some of the characters to other cities in the Thorpocaverse that need some super love. In this case, I am shifting Midnight's Fire to Bludhaven. I feel like his style would be a good challenge for Nightwing. And he’ll be getting some other associates from the Marvel U that need a home outside of the Big Apple.

Secret Origins: Years ago, an American recon patrol in Cambodia stumbled upon the ancient, hidden temple of a cult known as the Dragon's Breadth, which had remained hidden for centuries. It had been built upon a well-spring of raw, primal energy called the "Well of All Things”, now known as the Universal Wellspring. The inhabitants decided to breed a superior race that would one day unite with the ways of the west. They believed that this union would produce children capable of harnessing the power of the Well. The members of the recon patrol were to be the fathers of these children, one of these men was Andrew Chord, the man who would become Aaron and Silhouette Chord's father. Their mother would be Miyami, the daughter of Tai.

Aaron, who took the name Midnight's Fire when he became a vigilante, developed physical attributes at the peak of human possibility, enhanced speed, strength, agility, and sensory perception on par with super soldiers like Captain America.

The Story so Far: Silhouette and Midnight's Fire were operating as independent vigilantes in the streets of New York City when they met Dwayne Taylor, who would become Night Thrasher and Andrew’s ward, and the three began an organized effort to take down various New York City street gangs. Their partnership ended when Silhouette was shot and paralyzed from the legs down in a sting gone bad. Midnight's Fire blamed Dwayne and snapped. He became a cop killer and a druglord in order to lure Dwayne into a physical confrontation he could not possibly win. Later the partially paralyzed Silhouette reunited with Dwayne, distancing herself from her brother's evil actions.

Diego Cassias, one of the other members of the recon patrol now calling himself the Left Hand, stole the power of the Well from his own child, then gathered the other children of the pact including Midnight's Fire into a group called the Folding Circle. The Circle attempted to take control of the Well away from Tai. Members of the Circle, together with the New Warriors, managed to defeat Tai, but the Well was sealed, Cassias and Tai were apparently killed, and the surviving members of the Circle escaped. The remaining members of the Folding Circle later turned up in Madripoor and attempted to usurp the role of local druglord, which was then held by Aardwolf, a Mutant crimelord. They succeeded, but were later taken down by Night Thrasher and Silhouette.

After espacing custody, he lied low for a while and after learning of the power vacuum in Bludhaven after the demise of Blockbuster, he has relocated there and is becoming a powerful crime lord.

Characterization: Midnight’s Fire is a strange mix of honor, rage, ambition and contrition. Part of him feels great guilt at some of what he’s done, yet he feels driven to succeed now that he has chosen the path of the gang lord.

He is also an unparalleled martial artist. The combination of these traits made him a deadly threat in combat to normal humans like Night Thrasher. The threat of a physical confrontation with Midnight's Fire was one of the main reasons that Dwayne Taylor created his body armor.

Friends and Foes: He and his sister Silhouette remain estranged because of the path he’s chosen, but he still loves her dearly. Since Night Thrasher has returned, the two of them have reserved their rivalry. Since his move to Bludhaven, he has also begun a rivalry with Nightwing.
