HISTORY
Andrew Bennett is a 16th Century vampire who hunts other vampires. Despite having supernatural strengths and weaknesses, he is able to resist the bloodlust to feed on humans. His immortal life is dedicated to hunting down his former lover Mary, Queen of Blood.

In the year 1591, Andrew Bennett was a celebrated English nobleman in Queen Elizabeth's court. He distinguished himself in military service during the Anglo-Spanish War. His lover Mary Seward was the Queen's handmaiden. During one of his late-night rides, he is attacked and bitten by a vampire. Bennett slays the vampire then hides in his bedroom to resist the bloodlust, feeding only on animals. Mary begs him to transform her too so she can be with him for eternity, and he agrees in a moment of weakness. To his horror she loses her humanity and becomes a merciless killer. Mary takes the name Queen of Blood and starts the Cult of the Blood Red Moon, a secret international organization of vampires. Bennett dedicates his immortal life to tracking her down across the centuries, trying to end the terror he released upon the world.

In the early 1900s he worked with a man named Edward Trane in London, although Trane was captured by the Blood Red Moon and presumed dead. Bennett met his friend and ally Dmitri Mishkin as a young boy when Mary killed Dmitri's parents. He took the young boy in and raised him as a vampire hunter, eventually becoming his oldest friend. He recruited a young woman named Deborah Dancer to his crusade when he rescued her from Mary at the Woodstock festival.

Bennett enlists the vampire hunters Deborah Dancer and Dmitri Mishkin to his crusade. They track down Mary, Queen of Blood after many years, but it's revealed to be an impostor sent to embarrass him. They take down a vampire drug dealer named Emil Veldt who gives them the Blood Red Moon's financial records. Investigating all of their properties, they fight the American Freedom Party and meet Dmitri's vampiric mother Dunya Mishkin. Dmitri is shaken so badly he nearly kills them in a car accident before confessing his sorrows. Their next mission is the Temple of the Ineffable Tao. They meet a group of peaceful vampire monks led by Master Shoju, and slay the manipulative Billy Kessler. When they're attacked by human agents of the Blood Red Moon in daytime, the group is trapped in a cave-in. Bennett nearly gives in to his bloodlust and eats Deborah, but she wakes up and he kisses her instead. Realizing that he must stop putting his friends in danger, Bennett abandons them to continue his crusade alone.
The next family to take him in are murdered when the Blood Red Moon finds him again. He realizes that their activities are linked to a traveling carnival, and infiltrates them in disguise. Mary discovers this ruse and stakes him through the chest. Bennett survives and thwarts their plans, burning the carnival to the ground. Every vampire is killed in the flames except Mary, who escapes again.

Vampires start dying when a cancer cure is invented by Allen Barr that makes human blood poisonous. Andrew follows Mary to Egypt, where they travel backwards through time using the magic Rings of Kur-Alet. Mary tries to kill Barr's grandparents in the 19th Century, but ends up fighting Jack the Ripper. She strands Bennett in the past by threatening Deborah Dancer as a child and throwing his ring into the ocean. Bennett and the young Dancer find his ring by scuba-diving when it reanimates Nazi Zombies in a U-Boat. He travels back to find Mary in their own history, where each of them knock out and switch places with their past human selves. They are hunted down by witch-hunters and forced to flee before Mary can bait and kill him. Finally back in present-day Manhattan, Bennett destroys the rings so they can't be used again. He briefly falls in love with another reluctant vampire, but she kills herself rather than become a monster. When he sees a Woodstock documentary in theaters, he remembers how important his friends are and decides to go home.

When he investigates a series of killings with reporter Maggie Carle, they are captured by Allen Barr. It's revealed that Barr's cancer cure never worked, it's a ploy to kill vampires. Barr is a vampire himself trying to wipe out the competition, using a process that involves turning hobos into monsters to create the serum. Carle reveals herself to be a vampire, and they escape with the antidote after leaving him unconscious in his burning laboratory. Bennett's next adventure takes him to Gotham City where he meets Batman. They team up to take down a vampire crimelord named Johnny the Gun working to claim Gotham for the Blood Red Moon.

Edward Trane reappears after seventy years to take revenge, believing that Andrew Bennett turned him into a vampire. Deborah and Andrew are imprisoned together, but they escape and stake Trane before Andrew explains that it was the Blood Red Moon who were responsible and not him. They meet Dunya Mishkin again when she's running the American Crusade, an extremist religious movement led by Reverend Warnock. Warnock is staked and the movement is dissolved, but they lose Dmitri when he goes to find his mother Tracking Dmitri down to Moscow, they meet a KGB officer named Yuri Rashnikov trying to use a formula to replace the Russian high command with vampires. Dunya Mishkin attacks Rashnikov's compound, and they learn that Dmitri has been turned into a vampire as well. They are cornered by the Blood Red Moon in Dmitri's childhood home, but they slay every vampire in the attack. Deborah shoots at Dunya with a solar weapon and Dmitri leaps in front of his mother to save her. When Dunya scorns him and moves to kill Deborah, Dmitri stakes his mother before succumbing to fatal wounds. With his last breath he remarks that the monster was no longer his mother.

Bennett takes Rashnikov's experimental formula, designed to create vampires without bloodlust or their usual weaknesses. He finally becomes a man again, able to eat food and enter sunlight. Andrew and Deborah enjoy one night together, but he is captured by the Blood Red Moon when his body begins to experience rigor morties. Mary explains that the untested serum was not meant to be taken by existing vampires, as it causes their bodies to rapidly age and decay. She forces the immobile Andrew to watch as she turns Deborah into a vampire as well. Deborah reveals that she has taken the formula with no such drawbacks, and the two women fight to the death. Mary is defeated in combat and dragged into the sunlight where she explodes into flame. The now immortal Deborah returns to Andrew, holding him as he finally slips into peaceful death.

Some time later Andrew Bennett is revealed to have survived, but now tires of living and has lost his compassion. He explains that his body reformed after the first death, and he has tried to commit suicide several times since then but immediately resurrected. Revisiting Master Shoju at the Temple of the Ineffable Tao, he participates in a mass sunrise suicide with the vampire monks and still fails to die. The Lords of Order ask him to help bring about mahapralaya, the end of Kali Yuga to usher in a new age of prosperity. This "sleep of Brahma" will mean the end of all mankind, but he agrees as a way of killing himself. They enhance his powers to remove the vampire weaknesses for his travel, and send him to find the Holy Grail in Eustania. It is protected by a vampire apostle named Azzarene who allows him to drink from the grail, purifying him to become a vessel for Brahma. Doctor Fate and Nabu hunt him down in India but are too late to stop him, as Bennett plays a flute signifying the end of the world. The world momentarily blinks out of existence, leaving Bennett and Fate to witness the full love and glory of creation unfold. Bennett's faith in existence is restored and he ignores the Lords of Order, allowing mankind to survive. Now at peace, he plays the flute into the sunrise and accepts that either through death or rebirth he'll be in good hands.

During Infinite Crisis he is seen at the Oblivion Bar talking to Doctor Occult and El Muerto about the Spectre's rampage. Later he is enlisted to help in the conflict by the Shadowpact. He is one of the many magic-users Enchantress uses to channel energy into Captain Marvel during his fight with the rampaging Spectre. Later he is seen in the Oblivion Bar talking to Jennifer Morgan when Kid Devil is kicked out.

Andrew joins Doctor Thirteen's Team 13 when they fight the Architects. This team includes Anthro, Captain Fear, Genius Jones, Infectious Lass, Pryemaul and Traci Thirteen.

Bennett is one of the many demonic heroes and villains called in to fight during Neron's battle against Satanus, as Hell calls in its debts. At the time he is in Prague, where they free him of his nighttime restrictions. The Outsiders bust up a ceremony held every three years by the Blood Red Moon on Halloween to resurrect Mary. It's revealed that the mastermind is Deborah Dancer, who succeeds in resurrecting Andrew Bennett now angry that his curse is restored. He is later involved in a prophecy by Doctor Fate surrounding the Starheart during The Dark Things. If Alan Scott's children Jade and Obsidian come into contact, Scott will lose control of the faerie race in Starheart City and they will declare war on vampires. Bennett will be forced to create a new Blood Red Moon in self-defense, turning and recruiting heroes across the world. This leads to a chain-reaction where Lex Luthor eventually destroys the sun. In another adventure, the new Batman and Robin help him take out a Blood Red Moon nest where he's been imprisoned.

Andrew and Mary Seward spend a final night together as lovers be-fore she plans to wage war against humanity. She gives Andrew one last choice to join them, then sends 300 vampires for him to slay so their kind will know him as a traitor. Bennett assembles a team to hunt her down including his companions the genius Professor John Troughton and psychotic teenage vampire killer Tig Rafelson. John Constantine briefly teams up with Bennett when they slay Tig's vampirized father. They track Mary down to Gotham City, where Batman helps them investigate a horde of new vampire converts. In the prison used to house them, all four fight new vampires until Bennett is able to slay their sire and cure them. Batman stops him from killing Mary, and Tig beheads Andrew because she believes this will kill Mary. Andrew Bennett's death causes a primordial evil called Cain, the sire of all vampires, to rise from the ground in his place.

Cain begins terrorizing Gotham City with his army of vampires. Madame Xanadu brings in her Justice League Dark, as this was the apocalypse they were assembled to prevent. Deadman and John Constantine are sent into the afterlife to bring back Andrew Bennett. In Purgatory, a voice tells Andrew that his work isn't finished. Mary rebels against Cain when he usurps her army and ignores her. Xanadu balances the scales to have Andrew share power with Cain, making them opposites in creation and destruction. Initially he refuses to leave the afterlife, but then returns to assist Mary and the League. Andrew takes control of the entire army and makes them peaceful under his control, executing Cain and reuniting with Mary. His incredible new powers also allow him to undo the damage and erase the memories of everyone not directly involved.

A.R.G.U.S. commissions Justice League Dark to rescue Doctor Mist, and Constantine calls in his favor with Bennett to assist them. They travel to Peru and take down a cult started by Felix Faust. The powerful object he was carrying is revealed to be a map to the fabled Books of Magic. Constantine brings them back to decide their actions in the House of Mystery. Bennett considers his debt paid and decides to leave the team, but Constantine reveals he can recall visitors to the House whenever he wishes.

In Utah, Bennett and Mary establish a massive camp holding every vampire in North America. His nigh-omnipotent powers make him their messianic leader, although they grow restless feeding only on livestock. Tig and Troughton follow Bennett's orders and visit the ruthless monster-hunting Order of the Van Helsings for help. Mary challenges Andrew for authority, and they battle in front of the entire vampire population. The Van Helsings decide to attack their camp, as this will wipe out 60% of all vampires on the planet. They napalm the settlement and air-drop an army of soldiers down to wage war. In the all-out conflict, vampires feed and dead Van Helsings are reanimated into mummies with Egyptian magic. Both infections spread, leading to an insane battle of zombie-vampires and vampiric-zombie vampire-hunters. Bennett reunites with Tig and Troughton when they kill the Van Helsing leader, and Bennett admits he has no idea what he's doing. Storm-Watch intervenes and Apollo, Jack Hawksmoor and Midnighter join the fighting. Hawksmoor suggests that they use Bennett as a vessel to contain the evil magic, the same way he contained Cain as the Demon's Lock. Bennett absorbs all of the negative energy in a wide radius, curing everyone including Mary of their plague and turning him very evil.

Having taken Tig as his new vampire queen and corrupted her as he had once corrupted Mary, Andrew finds his way to the home of Deborah Dancer in Maine two months after his corruption. After he is at-tacked by her upon her realization that he had turned to evil, he decided that he would feed upon and turn her, remembering her purity of heart and how it had caused her to become only a half vampire, exactly the kind of weirdness he wants to avoid with his new breed of vampires and new rules of vampirism. However, when he is about to feed, he was stopped by the newly human and moral Mary, along with his former vampire-hunting friends.

Though the hunters manage to subdue Tig and Andrew with a kerosene fire and rescue Deborah, her dog Mishkin is not so lucky, killed at Andrew's hand soon after their departure, and then resurrected as a vampiric dog with his powers. Andrew soon after leaves for the Oblivion Bar, where he has Tig seduce and lead out a powerful magician, Charles Francis Thompson, who he wanted to be a general in his new vampire army. After some convincing, the vampire duo manages to convince Charles to let Tig bite and turn him.

Searching for an artifact for his plan, Andrew goes to The Armory that is the headquarters of the Or-der of the Van Helsings. Despite a fierce opposition, he makes his way along with his companions down into their archives. Soon af-ter, he massacres most of the Van Helsings, escaping the fortress with the stone that touched Heaven at the top of the Tower of Babel, along with the Van Helsings' keep-er of the books as a new vampire, arriving within and taking control of the House of Mystery.

In the defense against infiltration, Andrew manages to kill John Troughton, only to be restrained by John Constantine soon after with magic. Seducing Mary to try to turn her to vampirism again, he is surprised when Tig, realizing that he killed her father, decapitates Mary and promises to kill him as well. Fighting both Tig and the vampire hunters, Andrew accidentally reveals that he plans to destroy the world by merging Heaven and Hell through a portal connecting both, against the vampires' plans of world domination instead. Not long after he loses even their support, Cain removes the souls of all vampires, trapped within Andrew since Cain's prior defeat, sifting through them until he finds that of Lilith, his bride, and throws it into the body of Tig. Andrew, though brought to his senses and wanting to stop the end of the world, is stopped by the spirit of Mary her-self, who wants to help as well.

While Mary, an agent of God, fights the Lilith-possessed Tig and Charles, Andrew, though unsuccessful in killing Cain even with the help of Deborah, has him eternally imprisoned within the House by Lucifer, then pushes the Keeper of the Books into the destructive portal with some help from Mishkin, destroying the portal with the Keeper's gruesome demise and the resultant destruction of the Tower of Babel brick, as well as having Lilith's soul sucked out of Tig's body in the process and forced back to Hell. Mary, unable to stay in the mortal realm after her mission to kill Lilith was completed, says her goodbyes to Andrew, each professing their love to the other, and she admits that being a vampire did not make her evil, but rather herself. With the world saved, Andrew whines to Deborah against killing Tig and Charles, their last vampires to kill, noting that they are too stupid to get in any trouble.

Some time after the fall of Cain, Andrew worked to control the vampire population, though not without issues. He is famous as the "Lord of Vampires" amongst those who know their lore, ruling over them and controlling their populations to prevent them becoming a threat to the living. He becomes aware of the newly turned Cissy Chastain, for whom he comes to the home of Atsuo Uchida, the vampire hunter "Silver," to bring her away from the living and teach her the ways of vampires. However, much to his shock, Silver has taken in extremely large amounts of holy water, which causes him to be extremely toxic to vampires. Cissy, having bitten him, immolates in Andrew's arms, leaving naught but an ashy skeleton. Surprised by how novel this approach is, Andrew simply leaves the mansion in a swarm of bats without confronting either Bat-girl or Strix, who had come to save Cissy before learning of her vampirism.

Invulnerabilities: like all Eternals, Daxamites have several invulnerabilities.
  • Invulnerability: Am/50 resistance to all attacks
  • Cold, Radiation, Toxins & Disease: CL 1000
  • Life Support: CL 1000, has no need to eat or breathe while exposed to an abundant source of cosmic energy like our sun.
Cosmic Energy Manipulation: Daxamites can channel cosmic energy like any other Eternal. She has developed several power stunts.
  • Hyper-hearing: Rm/30
  • Heat Vision: In/40
  • Microscopic Vision: Am/50
  • Telescopic Vision: In/40
  • Thermal Vision: In/40
  • Penetration Vision: In/40
  • Hyper-speed: In/40
Psionics: The Daxamite Mind possesses several powers common amongst Eternals.
  • Flight: ShX/150
  • Total Memory: Am/50
WEAKNESS:
  • Lead: Laurel is vulnerable to Lead. She is powered by a particular wavelength of cosmic energy, which happens to be rather abundant in our sun. Lead prevents the absorption of this energy. This process of disruption is painful and sets off a chain reaction within a Daxamites cells that can lead to death. Lack of this radiation causes her body's cells to deteriorate, similar to radiation poisoning in a human being. Exposure to Lead causes Laurel to lose all her powers at -1CS per round. She also loses 1 rank of Strength and Endurance (with its loss of Health) per round until death occurs at Shift-0 Endurance.
  • Red Sun Radiation: the planet Daxam Orbited a red giant, this kind of sun produces a specific frequency of radiation that negates the cosmic energy from a yellow sun. Exposure to radiation from a red star causes complete negation of Daxamite powers. They return at a rate of 1CS per round following a round of exposure to yellow sun radiation.
CONTACTS: Legion of Superheroes

HISTORY
Laurel Gand, also known as Andromeda, was a Daxamite member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, with all the powers of Superman. She was introduced to the team during their initial draft but later had to leave due to her conflicting relationship with the White Triangle.

Laurel Gand spent most of her life in a White Triangle community, being indoctrinated in the "horrors" of interspecies cooperation before the Triangle's political clout led her to become the Daxamite representative in the Legion. Away from Daxam's red sun, she gained powers similar to Superman's, but the race-wide hypersensitivity of Daxamites to lead that meant even minuscule amounts could prove fatal even to a powered-up Daxamite, forcing her to wear a transuit at all times. This did not trouble her since it meant she never had to actually touch any non-Daxamites.

Her Triangle-derived beliefs hampered her effectiveness as a Legionnaire, thanks to her reluctance to physically engage with any enemies, but the real problems started after she let several Triangle members go after a mugging, shortly after which they beat and almost killed Triad. Angered more for their defiance of her than for the beating, when she was ordered away to prevent the Composite Man gaining her powers, she flew after them. Immediately, they tore her transuit and directly exposed her to lead, and she barely managed to turn them over to the Science Police before crashing through the walls of Legion HQ.

While Brainiac 5 worked on devising an anti-lead serum, he confronted her about her beliefs, and after discovering the serum Vril Dox, his direct ancestor, had created for Valor and tailoring it to her genetic structure to allow it to work properly on her (much to her surprise, as she had been taught that all members of the same race were identical), he forced her to confront the fact that he wasn't her inferior before giving her the serum. While this was happening, however, Shrinking Violet discovered a White Triangle necklace in her room and connected it to the group which had assaulted Triad and destroyed Trom, telling the rest of the team.

Confined to quarters after an unsuccessful attempt by Cosmic Boy to have her removed from the team, she used her super-senses to see Ambassador Roxxas gloating, but he managed to bully her into giving him the anti-lead serum. Taking it himself and giving it to four other Daxamites, they proceeded to cause mass destruction on Earth. When Andromeda herself confronted Roxxas over what he was doing and had made her do, she was almost defeated when Violet began thrashing around in his head, before coming out and telling Andromeda to take him down. As she pummeled him repeatedly, he destroyed the covering of an "atomic furnace", and both were thought to have died in the resulting inferno (causing Brainiac 5 severe depression). Only Cosmic Boy was told that she had survived and voluntarily exiled herself to Planet Hell.

Later, she was brought out of this exile by Live Wire after Cosmic Boy had told him where she was as part of a way to build up a "Legion Rescue Squad", and she was awed by Valor, himself being another member. However, she declined to rejoin the Legion after the Squad had served its purpose, preferring to head off into deep space.

Although Andromeda was erased from history along with the Legion and her entire future because of the Infinite Crisis, she reappears as a regular member of the Legion during Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds. She appears to be an acting member of the Legion again, alongside Legionnaires who would never have otherwise been chronologically teammates with her, such as the second Kid Quantum.

KNOWN POWERS:
Flight: Warren flies by means of two natural, feathered wings jutting from his shoulders (wingspan of 16 feet). He normally has Excellent Air Speed, but can sprint up to Unearthly Air Speed. If he is flying at maximum speed, he must make an Endurance FEAT roll for every round after the second. Failure indicates he is exhausted and must rest for two rounds before continuing at maximum speed. For the purpose of this power Warren can rest while flying, but only at a maximum speed of two areas per round. Angel can lift at least 200 pounds in flight; greater weights require a Strength FEAT roll. Angel's ability to maneuver in the air is Amazing; he has defeated many other airborne opponents by outmaneuvering them. The duration of time Angel can stay airborne is difficult to discern, and would depend on headwinds and other weather conditions, but he has been known to fly non-stop for 12 hours. Angel's average cruising attitude is 10,000 feet, but he can ascend to 29,000 feet for a few minutes by making a red Endurance FEAT roll. He can hover in place for hours and never has any difficulty using his hands to operate machinery or attack while he is flying.

Adapted Anatomy: Angel's whole body (bones, musculature, fat cells, etc.) is designed for flight and is extremely light. The result of this is that he suffers much less physical damage when he drops from a great distance (treat as Remarkable body armor when taking a fall). Breathing and seeing normally, even at high altitudes, is never a problem with Angel. As a matter of fact, his eyesight is as good as many predatory birds and he is considered Monstrous for purposes of spotting something he is looking for when he is flying high in the air.

TALENTS: Business, Aerial Combat, Martial Arts: B

CONTACTS: X-Men

HISTORY
The path of Warren Worthington of this universe seemingly followed the same of his Earth-616 counterpart until the day when Beast from an alternate future traveled to their universe in order to inform them they needed to return with him to the future. Despite Warren's reluctance, the team accompanied Beast to a future where Cyclops had killed Charles Xavier, and Jean Grey was dead as well (with the school now named after her). After the team had confronted the future Cyclops and helped save the life of the future Beast, the team (under Jean's leadership) decided to stay. Warren was the most reluctant on this decision, believing it could only lead to disaster (and also didn't want to know anything about his future self). Despite this, he agreed to stay until the problems in the time were solved.

Later, Warren did meet his future self and was incredibly confused as to how he had become this way (particularly about his metal wings). Meeting his future self, and the fact that no one was willing to explain to him why he had come to be that way, Warren panicked and attempted to return to his time alone. Jean Grey used her powers to alter Warren's emotions and calm him down, to the dismay of the other X-Men.

Despite this, Warren continued to doubt the mission of his fellow X-Men, and the future School, doubting the truth of future Beast's statements of impending mutant genocide at the hands of future Cyclops. When future Cyclops and his X-Men came to the School to look for recruits, Warren decided to join them, telling the others that they were the only ones fighting for mutantkind in this future.

The rest of the team later joined Cyclops' team as well, following the conflict between Wolverine's X-Men and the future versions of the X-Men and Brotherhood at Cape Citadel. Not long after becoming members of Cyclops's school, the young X-Men invited X-23 into their ranks after saving her from the mutant-hating religious group named Purifiers. X-23 and Angel hit it off, and started an amorous relationship.

HISTORY
Oa started out as a peaceful planet with citizens of vast mental abilities and ambition. One of them, Krona, developed a screen to witness the dawn of time and caused an explosion on Oa. He was then sentenced to live forever in energy form. What happened during that explosion was the beginning of the Multiverse and all of the multitudes of its universes. Once the Oans took it upon themselves to fight for justice, some believed that they should destroy ALL evil. The other Oans did not agree and a civil war began. The ones of malevolent nature left for the dimension of Qward and sought the means to become all-mighty. In this universe, the Anti-Monitor was born on one of the moons of Qward as an excess of great energy taking form. At that same time in the positive matter universe, The Monitor was born of similar origin on one of Oa's moons.

Feeding off the evil energy of the Anti-Matter Universe, the Anti-Monitor took over Qward by mere force and created a legion of troops with the power to throw lightning bolts. These people are called the Thunderers. Those of the Thunderers that proved to be his most trusted and powerful were then altered into living Shadows. Once he sensed The Monitor in the positive universe, he began a million year long war with him in an effort to sate his insatiable desire to conquer, which ended in both of them losing consciousness.

After nine billion years of inactivity from either monitor, Pariah came up in his universe. Being the greatest scientist of all time, he sought to learn the secrets of the origin of the universe. Despite his universe's council's objections, he created an anti-matter cube with which he safely observed the origin of the universe. This origin is a giant hand reaching from an infinite abyss and forming a new universe. While observing this, the Anti-Monitor and The Monitor were freed and the Anti-Monitor converted the anti-matter into energy and used it to destroy Pariah's universe. After destroying this universe, he drained its energy once again and became even stronger. Along with this, the destruction of a positive matter universe caused the anti-matter universe to expand and make the Anti-Monitor even stronger. With this knowledge in hand, the Anti-Monitor set out to destroy all of the positive matter universes and, therefore, make himself as powerful as possible. During all of this, Pariah was alone for millions of years in his anti-matter chamber.

Once The Monitor realized what the Anti-Monitor's plan was, he set out to prevent it. He endowed Pariah with the curses of immortality and being transported to every universe at the moment of its destruction. While doing what he could to delay the Anti-Monitor, The Monitor set up a series of towers that would protect Earth-One and Earth-Two from destruction, as well as Earth-S, Earth-X, and Earth-Four. The Anti-Monitor did not know this, but in manipulating The Monitor's confidante, Harbinger, to kill The Monitor, this powered the machines to work and the two universes were safe from his grasp. In an attempt to destroy the towers, the Anti-Monitor sent his shadow legions to destroy them, but that plan was thwarted by both Earths' heroes and villains. One of these villains, the second Psycho Pirate, switched sides and joined the Anti-Monitor in hope of a universe to manipulate the emotions of. The Anti-Monitor also reconfigured the Red Tornado to do his bidding for a short while as well as give the Flash (Barry Allen) to Psycho Pirate to play with his emotions.

Once the Monitor was killed and the towers were powered up, both Earth-One and Earth-Two, along with all of time itself became connected at one moment in time. To please Psycho Pirate, the Anti-Monitor enhanced his powers and allowed him to manipulate all of Earth-S, Earth-Four, and Earth-X. After causing much havoc and many betrayals, Psycho Pirate was thwarted by Harbinger and he lost much of his power. Then Earth-One and Earth-Two's heroes entered the anti-matter universe with the aid of Alexander Luthor. Alex is the son of Lex and Lois Luthor of Earth-Three, who was saved and endowed with control over positive matter and anti-matter. This enabled him to send Earth's heroes safely to the Anti-Monitor's universe. After they arrived at his citadel of living rock, they fought their way through to the core where Supergirl combated the Anti-Monitor. He had not collected much anti-matter recently, so he was very vulnerable and nowhere near as strong as he could be. After having his outer shell crushed by Supergirl, he was loose energy that needed to be contained. However he concentrated all of his energy directly at Supergirl and killed her while she destroyed the core and entire ship. He barely escaped in an escape pod, but both the Anti-Monitor and Earth's heroes escaped. The Anti-Monitor returned to his other ship of living rock and the heroes returned to Earth-One, which was now separate from Earth-Two and no longer of one time.

Upon returning to his citadel, the Anti-Monitor forgave Psycho Pirate because he had nobody else to pick from at the moment with the ability to manipulate emotions. He also returned to oversee the near completion of his ultimate weapon, the anti-matter cannon, which will destroy the remaining five universes once and for all. All this time, the Flash has been waiting and concentrating on the proper moment to attack, which was then. He easily got out of a sticky snare and beat Psycho Pirate into submission. After getting his cooperation, the Flash ran the Psycho Pirate around the entire citadel and had him manipulate the Thunderers to turn on the Anti-Monitor and attack him, which they did. While they did so, the Flash entered the core of the anti-matter cannon and reversed the energy flow out of it. Upon doing so, the Flash exceeded the speed of light and was destroyed along with the cannon. After easily dispersing the atoms of his Thunderers, the Anti-Monitor realized that his weapon was destroyed and that he would have to take a more abstract approach. He drained the anti-matter energy of over 1,000,000 worlds and used it to travel back to the dawn of time, and Pariah followed due to his curse.

Eventually after fighting a mini-war with the villains of Earth, its heroes and villains, along with a Superboy from a destroyed Earth-Prime, barely reached the dawn of time through a series of manipulations of powers, one of which was the Spectre powering their journey. Once they reached the Anti-Monitor, they attacked him with all of their power, but to no avail. He drained all of their life force and used it to attempt to alter history from the dawn of time. It turns out that the hand that Pariah and Krona witnessed at the dawn of time was the Anti-Monitor's, but this time he was confronted by the Spectre. Being backed up in power by all of the most powerful sorcerers there are, the Spectre brought an end to the Anti-Monitor's meddling in time.

Upon slightly changing time, the multiverse became only two, the positive matter and the anti-matter universes. Earth's heroes and villains that were present at the battle at the dawn of time were revived and some were placed back into the timestream while some others were there without a past except to the others that were at the dawn of time. The Anti-Monitor was also sent back to the anti-matter universe, his origin. Upon returning, he deployed literally countless shadow creatures to take the only Earth by force, but he also brought only the Earth into his universe. Upon arriving, Earth's heroes are greeted by the Anti-Monitor and they attack him. Also at this time, the world's greatest sorcerers, except the Spectre, have contained all of the shadow creatures into a mystical sphere. However, as the heroes start to lose in their assault on the Anti-Monitor, they deploy their secret attack set up by Harbinger, Alex Luthor, and Pariah. Alex uses his powers to drain as much anti-matter energy out of the Anti-Monitor as possible while the new Dr. Light, a female hero, drains the energy from a star. Then all at once, Dr. Light with the power of a star in her body, all of the heroes, Alex, and Harbinger attacked the Anti-Monitor and crushed him into a floating rock. Believing the Anti-Monitor to be dead, many of the heroes left the anti-matter universe through Alex, leaving for the most part Supermen of Earth-Two and Earth-One, Superboy-Prime, Lady Quark, and Alex Luthor.

In an attempt to catch them off guard, the living Anti-Monitor consumed the energy in his shadow creatures and blasted Earth-Two's Wonder Woman in nothing (He actually accidentally reversed her time and she went through a rebirth). Then Superman of Earth-Two knocked Earth-One's Superman and Lady Quark back into the positive universe through Alex and followed up with an attack on the Anti-Monitor with Superboy-Prime. At this moment, the Anti-Monitor became weakened and it was revealed that the sorcerers that contained the shadow demons poisoned them and this, in turn, poisoned the Anti-Monitor. In this moment of weakness, Superman of Earth-Two and Superboy-Prime physically attacked the Anti-Monitor and hurled him once again into the rock. Then they kept pounding on the rocks, but he still kept coming back and started to squeeze the life out Superman-Two and Superboy-Prime. At this moment, Darkseid decided to interfere and used Alex as a conduit to blast the Anti-Monitor with an energy beam from Alex's eyes. He was then sent hurtling into a star and his crust finally gave out and his energy form became all that was left of the Anti-Monitor's self.

In his last suicidal attempt to bring Superboy-Prime, Superman-Two, and Alex with him, the Anti-Monitor launched himself as an energy sphere from the star, but met his final and ultimate demise as Superman-2 shattered him into molecules of incoherent energy. He truly did die in this last attempt of murder, and is only remembered by those that were at the dawn of time and/or the battle in the anti-matter universe. Even though he died, it was too late for any of the remaining people to return to the Earth, so they went to an alternate dimension and stayed there for years with Lois of Earth-Two.

Superman and Lois Lane of Earth-Two, Superboy-Prime of Earth-Prime, and Alexander Luthor, Jr. of Earth-Three, from their home in the hidden pocket universe, were revealed to be observing the events of the newly-formed universe, as well as the actions of its heroes. Upon observing the events leading up to Infinite Crisis, the heroes returned to the universe in an attempt to restore Earth-Two's existence, at the expense of Earth-One.

The Anti-Monitor's remains were then used as part of a tuning fork, similar to the ones used during the first Crisis. The tower then created the vibrational frequency that Earth-Two was on prior to its nonexistence, which in turn recreated Earth-Two with no visible expense to Earth-One, save the movement of characters who originated on Earth-Two to the recreated Earth-Two. Alexander Luthor then recreated the other Earths with his tuning fork, with their respective heroes forcibly migrating to said Earths. Superboy-Prime (followed soon by Bart Allen) then returned from the Speed Force wearing what appeared to be select elements of the Anti-Monitor's armor, using it as a yellow sunlight collector.[3] How he obtained it is still unrevealed, although evidence suggests that he built it himself while he was imprisoned and it merely resembles the Anti-Monitor's armour, although whether by intention or coincidence is unconfirmed. Ultimately, the tower was destroyed when Kon-El, the modern Superboy, and Superboy-Prime crashed into it while fighting each other, Kon-El dying in the arms of Wonder Girl as Superboy-Prime fled.

Following the recreation of the Multiverse, the Anti-Monitor was reborn and he has been fueling Sinestro's ideology since the return of Hal Jordan, acting as the Sinestro Corps' "Guardian of Fear." His body was rebuilt by the Manhunters, and in addition, he recruited Superman-Prime, the Cyborg Superman, and Parallax, who was using Kyle Rayner as its host, along with Sinestro as his 'heralds'.
During the war between the Sinestro Corps and the Green Lantern Corps, the Anti-Monitor contacted Cyborg Superman to inquire about the status of New Warworld. The cosmic tyrant stated that he would soon abandon Qward and that he would kill Henshaw for his services, allowing him the peace that had for so long evaded the cyborg.

When the Lost Lanterns made their way to the antimatter universe to save Hal Jordan and the Ion power, they inadvertently stumbled upon the Anti-Monitor in a basement chamber of his stronghold on Qward. He was seemingly experimenting on or torturing the Ion Entity previously inhabiting Kyle Rayner. He proceeded to kill Ke'Haan before the other Lanterns forced him back, taking the Ion entity from the planet and the antimatter universe. The Anti-Monitor pursued the Lanterns for a short while, long enough for Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and the other Lanterns to learn of his return. Having this vital information, they then leave Qward.

Shortly after, the Sinestro Corps launched their attack on Earth. The Anti-Monitor traveled to the planet aboard New Warworld, and landed shortly thereafter, along with Sinestro. He was attacked by Sodam Yat and other members of the Green Lantern Corps, but the tyrant easily killed two Corpsmen and severely injured the Daxamite Lantern.

The Anti-Monitor begins to siphon the positive matter of New York City to create his traditional antimatter waves. However, he is attacked by the Guardians of the Universe, angry at being impotent during his first war. The Guardians were equally matched against the Anti-Monitor, but only as a whole. John Stewart and Guy Gardner brought down New Warworld and its Yellow Power Battery was detonated next to a trapped Anti-Monitor. Although it succeeded in tearing through most of the Anti-Monitor's armor and weakening him, he survived the explosion. Superman-Prime took this opportunity to have his revenge on the Anti-Monitor for destroying his universe by flying through the Anti-Monitor's chest and hurls his shattered body into space.

The Anti-Monitor's shriveled and glowing form crashed on the planet Ryut in Sector 666, where he is recognized by a dark voice that bids him rise. Too weak to resist or escape, the Anti-Monitor is then imprisoned in a Black Lantern Central Power Battery.[9]

Shortly after his defeat, a female Guardian called Scar, who was burned by the Anti-Monitor, charged Green Lantern Ash of Sector 650 with the task of locating and recovering the Anti-Monitor's corpse. He eventually found part of the Anti-Monitor's helmet, the trajectory of which indicated that the Anti-Monitor's body was oriented toward the long abandoned Sector 666.

Green Lanterns Ash and Saarek discovered the Black Central Power Battery on Ryut and after touching the battery, Saarek reported that their presence has awoken something. The two try to escape just before two monstrous hands emerge from below them to the sound of the battery calling: "flesh." Both Lanterns were dragged into the planet, killing them. It was revealed that the Guardian Scar had died long ago after the Anti-Monitor's attack and, functioning as an undead, caused her to become the Guardian of the Black Lantern Corps. Through her state of death, she made contact with the demon Nekron, who is the one responsible for imprisoning the Anti-Monitor in the black battery as its power source.

When the battery is brought to Earth, the Anti-Monitor stirs within, demanding to be let out. He begins draining the white energies of Dove in order to attempt an escape. The Anti-Monitor is revived as a Black Lantern independent from Nekron's control. Just as the entity was on the verge of pulling himself out of the battery, he is attacked by the various Lantern Corps, who seek to destroy him, thus robbing the Black Lanterns of their power source. Combining their energies, and using Dove as a human bullet, they manage to weaken the Anti-Monitor, who is pulled back into the battery. At the end, the Anti-Monitor was among the few who were brought back to life. He broke free from the Black Battery but was banished back to the anti-matter universe by Nekron.

The Anti-Monitor was confronted by the White Lantern Boston Brand, who was forced to fight the being and damaging him in the process with his White Lantern Ring before escaping, leaving the Anti-Monitor confused by what had occurred. This event led the Anti-Monitor to be curious about the Entity and preventing Deathstorm, the Black Lantern version of Firestorm, in his attempt to destroy the White Lantern Battery and instead commanded him to bring the lantern and as well an army to him. Deathstorm obeyed by bringing the Black Lantern versions of Professor Zoom, Maxwell Lord, Hawk, Jade, Captain Boomerang, Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Deadman and Osiris.

When Deathstorm brought the White Lantern Battery to the Anti-Monitor in the Anti-Matter Universe, his efforts were stopped by Firestorm who, after engaging in battle with the Anti-Monitor and the Black Lanterns, is able to regain the White Power Battery from the Anti-Monitor. Unknown to everyone, the Entity of the White Battery allowed itself to be captured so it could obtain unspecified information from the Anti-Monitor.

Mobius was created by a Super Celestial named Perpetua in the Sixth Dimension alongside his brothers Mar Novu and Alpheus. Perpetua had been sent from the greater Omniverse to build a new Multiverse, and the three brothers were its first inhabitants. Perpetua explained to the three children that her Multiverse comprised three main realms made out of the three basic forms of matter: dark matter, rich with potential; positive matter, firm and constant; and anti-matter, all-destroying and corrosive. The three had been created to monitor these realms. Alpheus was tasked with monitoring the dark matter realm beneath creation where he would be a mighty World Forger, building the myriad worlds and universes of creation. Mar Novu was tasked with monitoring the positive matter realm, where he would guard the many universes that rose out of the dark from cosmic crises. The last brother, Mobius, was made Novu's opposite, tasked with making sure the light of creation did not breach the greater Omniverse.

After discovering that Perpetua's prolonged existence defied her natural function, Mar Novu gathered his brothers to oppose their mother. They met up in the Promethean Galaxy, where they attempted to contact the Judges of the Source in order to alert them of Perpetua's crimes. Perpetua's forces attacked the brothers, but an envoy of the Source, in the form of a Raptor, imprisoned Pepetua inside a wall made of her own legions. Due to the wall making his domain obsolete, Mobius vowed to kill his brother Mar Novu, even if it took a billion years. The three brothers then reformed on their respective dimensions.

As the multiverse was being remade, Krona went back into time during this exact moment. His actions resulted in the Multiverse splintering off intro an infinite number of universes. Mobius later took on a new form in this universe and Perpetua started poisoning his mind by whispering to him, even while trapped in the Source Wall, so she could free herself. As she planned, the Anti-Monitor went on a rampage to destroy the Multiverse before eventually being stopped, in a crisis that was called Crisis on Infinite Earths. His actions however had caused the various universes to merge into a single universe, while the crisis had caused a crack in the Source wall to develop, which allowed Perpetua to assert more influence on the minds of others.

After the Flashpoint, he was reborn again on the planet Qward, Mobius was a seeker of knowledge and scientific genius who built a device known as the Mobius Chair in order to learn the secret that gave birth to the creation of his universe. Mobius was also ruthless in pursuit of his goals and was a killer who murdered many people. Mobius' thirst for the knowledge of his universe's creation would be his downfall, as such knowledge was forbidden, thus when he laid his eyes upon it—the Anti-Life Equation—he was forever cursed by it, and transformed into the "Anti-Monitor", the living embodiment of the Anti-Life Equation. He lashed out in pain and became a destroyer of universes.

Some time after that, he met a New God, known as Metron, to whom he willingly gave his universe-traveling Mobius Chair. Millennia later, the Anti-Monitor visited a parallel universe's Krypton, where the malignant Jor-Il set into motion events that drew his ire for their entire race. He destroyed the planet, leaving nothing alive. However, Jor-Il was able to send his only son, Kal-Il, away from Krypton towards the planet Earth before his demise. In sending his son away, Jor-Il hoped to lay the seeds for revenge against the Anti-Monitor.

In the future, the Anti-Monitor defeats Kal-Il and his allies in the Crime Syndicate, destroying everything on Earth as he did on Krypton. The Syndicate abandons Earth and tries to travel between universes to find one they can subjugate, but become stuck between universes. Only Alfred Pennyworth, going by the alias of the Outsider, and Atomica, manage to escape their prison when the Justice League forces Darkseid through a Boom-Tube.

Some time after Anti-Monitor destroyed Earth 3, he encountered Grail, the powerful daughter of the malevolent Dark God Darkseid, who informed him that he could free himself from the Anti-Life Equation by killing Darkseid, during which time reality would fracture and the line between gods and men would blur, which would allow him to separate himself from the Equation. They became allies, and she helped him prepare for his coming war against Darkseid.

When the rest of the Syndicate invaded the parallel Earth, the true nature of the entity who destroyed their world is revealed. They initially claimed that they destroyed their homeworld when its citizens rose up against the them, forcing the Syndicate to destroy the planet. This was revealed to be a lie, and it's shown that their world was destroyed by an alien entity that none of them could stop: none other than the Anti-Monitor. They had arrived to Prime Earth in an effort to hide from him.

To the dismay of the Syndicate, following the death of Power Ring by Sinestro, his Power Ring sent reverberations throughout the Multiverse, something Kal-Il worried may alert the Anti-Monitor to the Syndicate's location. But before he could do anything about it, the Injustice League came into conflict with the Syndicate, resulting in the deaths of Deathstorm, Atomica and Johnny Quick, as well as the incarcerations of Ultraman and Superwoman. (Owlman, however, eluded the Injustice League and was believed to be in hiding.)

When the Justice League, having reconvenes after being freed from Firestorm, discussed how best to approach whatever entity destroyed the Crime Syndicate's world, whom they supposedly believed to be Darkseid—a fact which they do not yet know to be very wrong—Cyborg suggests they find the Ring of Volthoom: he reasons that if the ring is similar in nature to that of a Green Lantern Ring, it would have a combat log detailing Harold Jordan and the Syndicate's clashes with the Anti-Monitor. The trouble, though, would be finding the ring's location.

The League does eventually find the ring, but not before the Doom Patrol does. The ring has found a new host in Jessica Cruz, and creates a green fire large enough to be seen across the Multiverse, fulfilling the Syndicate's fears. Niles Caulder, intent on stopping the Power Ring by killer her, is in turn murdered by Lex Luthor, who's plan of merely subduing her succeeds. Batman appears and, relieving Jessica her fears, they effectively shut down the ring. The Ring attempts to warn Batman of the Anti-Monitor, but it is shut down before it can explain the true nature of the destructive entity.

Mobius' old acquaintance, Metron, came across with him while he was preparing his invasion of Earth. He tried to convince Mobius that his actions will lead to the demise of all reality, that he must abandon his plans of destruction, but Mobius rebuffed his claims, claiming that he needed to do it in order to start a war with Darkseid and end the era of the New Gods.

After his ally opened the doorway between the universes, the Anti-Monitor finally arrived at the Earth where he would ultimately confront Darkseid. After summoning an army of shadows and, cloaked the sun, he effortlessly defeats the Amazon trying to stop him, is was about to destroy his enemies when Metron arrives to teleport them away, but he nonetheless decided to focus on the upcoming war, requesting Grail to bring her father to him.

After a long wait, Darkseid and his forces of Apokolips finally arrive, and the war of the Dark God against the Anti-God has finally begun. The battle rages-on until a desperate Darkseid summons the embodiment of Death to aid him, unto which Mobius uses his power to merge it with the nearby being of speed to transform it into his own weapon. Together with the power of the Anti-Life Equation, Mobius delivers a fatal blow to Darkseid, ultimately killing the Dark God.

After killing Darkseid, the Anti-Monitor places himself into a cocoon of energy and separates from the Anti-Life Equation, returning to his original form as "Mobius", the way he was before he was turned into the "Anti-Monitor" by the Anti-Life Equation.

Mobius emerging from his cocoon in his original form, still possessing vast power and an army of shadow demons, and in order to get his Mobius Chair back from Batman, engages both the Justice League and Crime Syndicate in battle in Gotham City. Mobius kills several Green Lanterns during the battle, vaporizing them with powerful blasts of antimatter. Ultraman assaults Mobius with a vengeance, but Mobius gets the upper hand and kills Ultraman, vaporizing him with a concentrated blast of antimatter on his chest. Lex Luthor, who had been transformed into the God of Apokolips and had gained Darkseid's powers, steps into the fight with an army of parademons at his side, ready to engage Mobius.

Mobius and Lex Luthor engage each other in battle, Lex seemingly having the upper hand. However, Mobius counters with a burst of super speed and grapples him, holding fast his throat and slowly killing him with his anti-matter energy. Suddenly, his former ally Grail arrives via Boom Tube with a super-powered Steve Trevor: Grail had transformed him with the Anti-Life Equation. Trevor proceeds to fire an immensely powerful blast of Anti-Life energy at Mobius, killing him instantly.

Mobius was resurrected once again, this time in his original form, where and when he witnessed events occurring in the Multiverse that included his mother Perpetua being freed from her imprisonment. At some point, Mobius returned in the Antimatter Universe where he killed many Qwardians and wrote a message destined to his brothers saying "do not follow me". Later, he saved Aquaman during the Drowned Earth's event and recruited the Aquaman to aid him in stopping Perpetua and knew that a piece of the Totality resided in the past. Thus, he dispatched Arthur Curry there to aid his Justice League allies.

At this point, Mobius was sought out by his brothers and the Justice League in stopping his mother who similarly sought to recruit him. During the fight, Mobius merged with his kin in forming the Ultra-Monitor after being empowered by Starman's Totality and fought against Perpetua. At first, they managed to match their mother's power, but her allies managed to achieve their objective, thus restoring the Totality of her might. With it, she moved the Multiverse towards doom and infected Mobius with Anti-Life, allowing him to bring his brothers down and thus, his full form restored, he joined Perpetua's side as he'd really wanted all this time.

After the rise of her mother, Mobius saw the destruction of Earth 19 by Perpetua's hand. Later, she plans to assign Mobius to the World Forge where he will create universes meant to be destroyed by the Apex Predator army led by Lex Luthor, as a never-ending cycle of war where doom will triumph over justice eternally. Later, Mobius was sent to kill Hawkgirl by Perpetua.

The Vision has developed a number of established power stunts with this power:
  • Phasing through solid objects at Shift 0 density. Unlike normal Phasing, this does not cause malfunctions in electronics.
  • Flight at Shift 0 density; speed is Poor.
  • Disrupting living targets or non-living materials by solidifying inside them. Damage inflicted is equal to Visions chosen density rank; the target's body armor is ignored. The Visions computer precise mind allows him to use this stunt with little risk of killing living beings.

HISTORY
Brought to Earth-616 by Proctor in his quest to rid the multiverse of Sersi's, this Vision was first to be used as part of a plot to infiltrate the Avengers of Earth-616. Kidnapping the Vision of Earth-616 and using a device, the two Visions found themselves in each others' bodies (with the Earth-616 Vision regaining a semblance of his original multi-hued body and this Vision gaining the all-white body), and this Vision then infiltrated the Avengers.

Planning to kill Gatherers' betrayer Swordsman as part of his mission, the Anti-Vision observed him very closely in the ensuing days, but these plans were halted when Sersi returned to the team, seemingly driven mad by the Gann Josin she had enacted between herself and Black Knight. When the other Avengers failed to contain her, Anti-Vision drove his phased fist into her skull, then partially solidified it, rendering her unconscious. Moving in for the kill, he was stopped by a returning Captain America, who questioned when the Avengers had become killers.

Eventually revealing his true nature, he escaped during the final battle between the Avengers and Gatherers.

Weeks later, as the Vision (Earth-616) was attempting to piece his life together, he became embroiled in a plot involving Anti-Vision, who had taken his former Gatherers' teammates Jocasta and Tabula into his thrall, along with Ultron. Changing their core functions, he manipulated them all into driving Vision mad before finally revealing himself and being defeated by Vision.

Very nice write-ups, Sidious! Thank you for doing this format of the old MSH RPG! I had wanted to ask on here for a while now if anyone was familiar and wanted to do some characters.

Any plans to (re) do the Marvel characters, updating them from the now out-dated stats of the 1980's? Do you take requests? While most seemed good at that time, some seemed not quite right with tweeking needed, but by now, they all would need some updating.

So glad you did this thread!
I agree in some if the characters being outdated, I would love to see how others view the changes in characters power/abilities.

Warren Kenneth Worthington III is the mutant son of the wealthy Warren K. Worthington Jr. and his wife Kathryn, neither of whom were aware that their son had developed a pair of large feathered wings extending from his back enabling him to fly. On the other hand, Doctor Stuart who delivered him and immediately spotted the distortion of his shoulder blades and guessed what he would become. Warren attended many boarding schools, such as Fairburn Boys School. At some point, Warren began dating Amanda Cobb. Warren first began his superhero career after a fire broke out in his dorm at Phillips Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. Warren disguised himself with a wig and a nightshirt and lowered two students to safety with a rope. Warren also saved a fellow student Cameron Hodge from a bully and made a lifelong "friend".

Warren broke up with his girlfriend Amanda Cobb in fear she would find out about his wings. An evil priest known as the hunter, obsessed with killing mutants, tracked Warren down but was eventually defeated by Warren.

Warren briefly became a costumed superhero known as the Avenging Angel. He caught the attention of Professor X, who recruited him as the third of five founding members of the X-Men, along with Cyclops, Iceman, Beast, and Marvel Girl. At Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters the X-Men were tutored by Professor X and trained in the use of their powers in the Danger Room. During his time in class, Warren was a carefree student, often flying-off during Prof. Xavier's lessons and in public. Warren would conceal his mutation with a harness that Xavier created. Though Warren was initially attracted to Marvel Girl, he spent much of his time dating Candy Southern.

When the Angel had another personality shift following exposure to radiation unleashed by a test by Stark Industries, the armored hero Iron Man dealt with the danger posed by the Angel until he reverted back to normal.

During one of the X-Men's battles with Magneto the team was defeated and captured, but Warren escaped. On his way to get help from the Avengers he was was attacked by Red Raven. After alerting the Avengers, the X-Men returned home. There, they were ordered to disband by Fred Duncan of the FBI. Returning to live with his parents, Warren continued to sneak out at night and secretly satisfy his need to fight crime and see Candy. While Warren was out on a date with Candy, his father was killed by men working for the villain Dazzler. Overcome with grief, Warren blamed his own absence for his father's murder. Candy was kidnapped by Dazzler's organization as well and when Warren went to rescue her, the Dazzler removed Angel's mask and revealed his identity to both the Dazzler and Candy. Dazzler admitted to actually being Warren's own uncle, Burtram Worthington, having only used Worthington Industries for his campaign of diamond smuggling. Burtram was seemingly killed in the following battle from a great fall. Warren and the X-Men reunited the X-Men soon after.

Sauron, a flying pterodactyl-man, used his hypnotic gaze on Warren, making him attack his fellow X-Men. When Warren's mind cleared, the X-Men had left him behind after following Sauron to the Savage Land. Warren followed and was nearly killed by the flying reptiles there. He was saved by Magneto, who was calling himself the Creator. Warren did not recognize his old enemy without his helmet on and briefly believed the Creator and his mutate creations were allies. Ka-Zar and the other X-Men defeated Magneto and his Mutates.

When Professor Xavier sent the X-Men back to the Savage Land to make sure that Magneto actually perished in their last encounter with him, Warren befriend the Savage Land native Avia, a bird-woman. Angel and Avia were captured by sailors who sold them to a man named Stefan Krueger. The X-Men and Candy Southern came to their rescue, clashing with the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in the process.

Candy revealed that Burtram had survived the fall and intended to steal the Worthington family fortune. The X-Men, with Candy, were able to stop the Dazzler's plot, but not before Warren's mother was poisoned by Burtram and his partner, Warren's childhood doctor. His mother died in Warren's arms.

Warren was among the original X-Men that were rescued by Prof. Xavier's new team of X-Men from the island-being Krakoa. Not longer after, Warren and the other original members left the team, leaving Cyclops and Prof. Xavier with a brand new team of X-Men.

Warren decided to start a college career in Los Angeles and stopped hiding his identity. He inherited his parents' vast wealth[61] as well as membership in the Hellfire Club from his father. Around this time, Warren also set-up a scholarship fund for his original school, Phillips Academy, for mutant students.

While meeting with Iceman on the campus of UCLA, Warren and Bobby Drake were attacked by harpies trying to locate Venus. The two young heroes were joined by Ghost Rider, Black Widow, and Hercules. After a battle with the Huntsman, Hercules and Venus were kidnapped and taken to Mount Olympus. They defeated Pluto and decided to stick together as a team, as the Champions of Los Angeles. Warren bankrolled the group, and they bought a surplus of Avengers' Quinjets, the "Champjet", for team usage. The team was volatile and disbanded after a brief stint.

Warren and Candy moved away to Colorado for some time. Bobby took his girlfriend, Terri, to Warren's cabin style mansion and was attacked by Master Mold. After Bobby was captured, Warren flew after him. After battling Doc Samson over Gamma Base, Master Mold awoke the Hulk. The Angel and the Hulk were also captured and taken to the Sentinel Space Station where the Hulk broke free and tore Master Mold into pieces.

While at a bar in New York, Warren ran into the Thing and the Human Torch. Warren and Thing were drugged and kidnapped by Toad who had become a hired assassin and was hoping to test his death castle on Warren. After surviving the castle's traps, Warren felt pity on Toad, who did not have the money to pay his contractor. Warren offered to pay Toad to work for him and opened a theme park over the castle called Toadland.

Hearing of the problems the X-Men were having with the Hellfire Club, Warren arranged for the X-Men to be invited to a Hellfire Club party. During the party, the Phoenix (who was posing as Jean Grey) fell under Mastermind and the Hellfire Club's control and transformed into the Black Queen. Warren joined the X-Men while they battled the Hellfire Club's Inner Circle and Phoenix underwent another transformation into the Dark Phoenix. Soaring through the universe, she devoured an entire star and the five billion inhabitants of one of its planets. When Phoenix returned to Earth she threatened to kill everyone, but Professor Xavier was able to keep her under control and helped her will herself back to normal. Warren and the X-Men were then teleported away by the Shi'ar. The Shi'ar Empire had witnessed Dark Phoenix consuming the star and the X-Men were forced to battle with the Imperial Guard over Phoenix's fate. The battle triggered her transformation into Dark Phoenix once more and Phoenix understood that she would never be able to fully control the dark hunger inside and sacrificed herself on the Moon.

Back on Earth, Warren attended Jean's funeral. Cyclops left for a time so Angel rejoined the team to ensure they were not shorthanded. The X-Men stopped the attempted assassination of Senator Robert Kelly by Mystique's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Miss Locke kidnapped Candy in order to force the X-Men to travel to Latveria where they defeated a Doombot to rescue her boss, Arcade. Warren eventually left the X-Men again due to the constant conflict between him and Wolverine.

Warren was reunited with Iceman and Beast after he and a group of heroes were manipulated to join the Avengers. Warren felt compelled to display his skill by battling Tigra. It was revealed that Moondragon was manipulating all of them to strengthen the Avengers. After Moondragon reconsidered, Warren departed. Later while Warren and Candy were in his cabin-style mansion, the couple was attacked by Ghost Rider. Aided by the Avengers, Warren was able to calm down his former teammate.

After Tanya Anderssen, Dr. Karl Lykos' girlfriend, asked him to check if Sauron was alive or not, Warren later found himself in the Savage Land once again aiding Spider-Man in battling the Savage Land Mutates, where Brainchild experimented on him. After Warren and Spider-Man were transformed, Dr. Lykos absorbed their mutant energy and was permanently transformed into Sauron. After Spider-Man left, Warren called the X-Men and they were captured while Warren escaped. Seeking to rescue his friends, Warren and Ka-Zar entered Sauron's citadel and Warren distracted Sauron while Ka-Zar rescued the X-Men.

Warren was kidnapped by the underground mutant community called the Morlocks. Their leader Callisto wanted to marry him. He was released after the X-Man Storm defeated Callisto in a duel for leadership of the Morlocks.

Warren found himself pursuing Alison Blaire, aka the Dazzler, who he had been infatuated with since he first met her when they were manipulated by Moondragon into joining the Avengers. Warren wanted to ask her out and butt-in on a date of hers. Alison thought he was a jerk at first until Warren revealed himself as Angel and took her for a flight, which led to a romantic evening. However, after stopping Dr. Octopus from escaping custody, Alison decided she didn't want to get involved with Warren. Warren later attempted to reunite Alison with her mother, but her friend Vanessa Tooks beat him to the act. When the Sisterhood of Evil Mutants (Mystique, Rogue, and Destiny) sought revenge on the X-Men, they attacked Angel so Rogue could absorb his knowledge of the X-Men’s whereabouts from his mind. Alison defeated the trio of villains. Warren began to lay-low, returning to Los Angeles. After getting a call that Alison had been blackmailed to kill a man in Los Angeles, Warren flew to her aid in time to save them from a bullet that the angry blackmailer had fired at them.

After recovering from the bullet wound in his arm, Warren joined his former teammates Beast and Iceman to reorganize the Defenders into a more formal combat organization. After the founding Defenders (Dr. Strange, Prince Namor, the Hulk, and the Silver Surfer) were convinced to leave the team, Warren funded the team and provided his Colorado penthouse as a headquarters. They obtained governmental clearance, thanks to the help of Nick Fury. Later, Candy was asked to lead the squad.

Moondragon, who was possessed by the Dragon of the Moon, seemingly killed most of the members of the Defenders in a climactic battle and the team disbanded.

When he learned that Jean Grey was still alive, Warren joined his former teammates and founding members of the X-Men in the formation of X-Factor. X-Factor intended to seek out and aid other mutants under the pretense of hunting down those perceived menaces to society. The public assumed they were humans hunting mutants, when in fact they were training young mutants in the use of their powers at the X-Factor Complex. The media referred to their non-human guises as X-Terminators. Once again, Warren funded the group and appointed Candy as the Vice President of Worthington Industries. Warren asked his best friend and former college roommate Cameron Hodge to act as the team's PR adviser, unaware that Cameron actually despised mutants and was the leader of the anti-mutant group the Right. Hodge waited for the most propitious moment to strike. The team went-on to battle Apocalypse and his Alliance of Evil.

Reporter Trish Tilby used a tip from Mystique to reveal that Warren, a mutant, was financially backing X-Factor. Candy walked-in on Warren comforting Jean, and walked out on him angrily. As the Marauders began to massacre the Morlocks, Warren had no time to follow her and set things straight.

When Warren attempted to rescue X-Factor's young charge Artie his wings were pinned to the wall by the Marauder Harpoon, after being beaten by Blockbuster and Vertigo. He was rescued by Thor. Hodge planted false evidence that Warren's wings were infected to the point that amputation was necessary. Although Warren objected, Hodge had a court order issued to go through with the amputation.

Distraught by these experiences, Warren attempted to fly one more time in his private jet. Hodge sabotaged his jet and it exploded. It had appeared that Warren had committed suicide and was believed dead, although he had actually been teleported away by Apocalypse.

Warren was brainwashed and began to serve Apocalypse. Apocalypse warped his body and mind into his own "Angel of Death" upon his Celestial Ship and placed him into his team of Horsemen as Death. Warren's skin turned blue. He grew a set of bio-metallic wings from his back that could retract and also fire dart-blades with a neurotoxin. Warren's new wings could fly higher, faster, and were razor sharp.

Apocalypse had the Horsemen battle each other to find the leader, and Death beat them all. As Death, Warren fought the rest of X-Factor and captured them. After X-Factor's defeat, the Horsemen were sent into Manhattan to incite chaos. Warren was shocked back to his senses after Iceman faked his own death at Warren's hands by having him destroy an ice sculpture of Bobby. After their defeat of Apocalypse, his sentient Ship crash-landed on their Complex and X-Factor began living in it. X-Factor was approached by the media, and finally revealed the truth of X-Factor's mutant origins.

Unable to face anyone, Warren left the team. Cameron Hodge and the Right kidnapped Candy Southern, eventually killing Candy. Worthington decapitated Hodge in retaliation.

Death later returned to X-Factor as the somber and brooding "Archangel", as Beast called him, to help fight the invading demons. Teaming up with the X-Men, they were able to stop the villainous Mr. Sinister. Warren was left struggling with the urge to kill due to the influence of his wings.

Continually fighting an inward battle against his killer instincts, Warren eventually learned to control his wings through concentration. Warren was attacked by Caliban, a former teammate who had taken his place as the Horseman Death, trying to prove himself in the eyes of Apocalypse. Later, Warren encountered a resurrected Cameron in Genosha. Warren met a widowed mother and beat cop named Charlotte Jones. Together they began an awkward relationship. It was with Charlotte's help that X-Factor freed Warren from the Ravens, a cult of near-immortal psychic vampires. It was during this battle that Warren's survival was made public knowledge, allowing him to regain control over his family's remaining business holdings and his personal fortune.

After defeating the Shadow King on Muir Island, Warren and his fellow X-Factor founders returned to the X-Men. Warren often adventured with the X-Men's "Gold Team" led by Storm.

The team journeyed to a void where Warren was seduced by the Triumvirate leader, Sha-Har-A-Zath, into battling his comrades. Soon after, the X-Men returned to the Morlock Tunnels to stop a young mutant, Brain Cell, from mentally influencing the Morlocks to incite chaos. After the battle, Warren made his way back to the spot where his wings had been injured by the Marauders. There, Jean helped him see that his destructive behavior was not the fault of his wings but instead his own repressed violent tendencies. Warren began to see it was up to him to get his life under control.

When Prof. Xavier was shot by Stryfe, Warren allied himself with the new X-Factor and X-Force to track down Apocalypse and the Mutant Liberation Front. While engaged in battle, Warren accidentally decapitated Kamikaze. Warren once again blaming his wing’s lust for blood. When Beast and Dr. Moira MacTaggert had exhausted all of their resources, Apocalypse stepped-in to save Prof. Xavier. Warren, surprisingly, vouched for Apocalypse's genius but promised he would kill Apocalypse after torturing him and at a time of his own choosing. However, Warren decided to leave him to die alone after a wounded Apocalypse asked him to end his misery.

Warren soon fell out of touch with Charlotte Jones. Warren later found Candy Southern alive in his Colorado home. Cameron Hodge had turned himself and Candy into techno-organic beings called the Phalanx. Candy sacrificed herself to destroy Hodge.

Warren's childhood friend Shinobi Shaw invited him to a Hellfire Club party. Psylocke agreed to accompany him, due to the fact that both of their fathers had once been members. Warren refused to join Shinobi's new Inner Circle. Afterward, Warren became romantically involved with Psylocke and together they battled her enemy, Spiral.

Sabretooth gravely injured Psylocke and damaged one of Warren's wings. Warren helped Wolverine search for a mystical cure for Psylocke. Eventually, with the assistance of Dr. Strange and Gomurr the Ancient, they revived her with help from the mysterious Crimson Dawn. Warren and Psylocke left the X-Men and went to his Aerie to recuperate. After Psylocke was alerted to the presence of Onslaught on the Astral Plane, followed by the Juggernaut attempting to warn them, the two briefly returned to aid the X-Men.

A short time later, Warren regained his original, feathered wings, when his techno-organic ones "molted" away. As this process was happening he was visited by Ozymandias, which left him unsure whether Apocalypse had released his hold on him or was continuing to use him in some way. He retained his blue features.

After meeting Maggott, Psylocke and Warren were captured by Nanny. There, Magneto (disguised as Erik the Red) held a mock trial for Gambit for his part in the Massacre of the Morlocks. Warren was outraged that Gambit had played a part in the Massacre that had once cost him his wings and refused to defend him. Later Warren was slammed by his teammates for his and Psylocke's lack of commitment to the team. He returned to the Morlock Tunnels where he was attacked by Abomination and aided by Marrow.

Warren joined a splinter X-Men group to assist the Mannites in their battle with the latest bearer of the name Death, who was eventually discovered to be Wolverine. This prompted Warren and Psylocke to rejoin the X-Men and they became involved in stopping the latest plan of Apocalypse to gain ultimate power. During a fight with the brainwashed Wolverine, Angel became more and more ruthless until he was overcome by a transformation that left him with glowing wings and hair as well as psionic abilities. Warren used these abilities to track down the first Horseman known as War, who had somehow once again become a paraplegic. Warren explained that he had become the embodiment of hope and used his new-found psionic powers to heal the former War.

Warren divided his time between running his fortune, Worthington Industries, and working with the X-Men. Over time, his new abilities disappeared and his relationship with Psylocke officially ended when Psylocke began dating the new X-Man Neal Shaara.

Eventually, Warren returned to the X-Men full-time. Warren helped the X-Men defeat the threats of the X-Corps and the Vanisher's mutant drug cartel. Warren became the leader of the X-Men's active away team and even took the opportunity to address the G8 summit about mutant rights. This move and the cause that he promoted helped turn the X-Men from an outlaw band of heroes to a recognized global rights group.

In a battle with the plant-being, Black Tom Cassidy, Worthington was entrapped in Black Tom's life-draining vines and began to enter cardiac arrest. Warren was saved by his teammates, whereupon his blue skin reverted to its former pink color. This was later pointed to as a signal that his healing abilities had begun to manifest themselves more strongly. After rescuing Stacy X, Warren became the object of her constant flirtation, while at the same time dealing with the fact that Husk, an X-Man much younger than him, also had a crush on him.

Warren was forced to confront his cavalier attitude toward his fortune when he discovered Lobo Technology, a division of Worthington Industries that had been taken over by Maximus Lobo and a community of mutant werewolves. Lobo fought the X-Men and nearly killed Worthington and Husk. The two barely escaped and only survived from the brink of death with the help of Worthington's healing powers. Maximus Lobo revealed that he was involved in the murder of Worthington's father, in part, so that he could create a dominate subspecies of mutant werewolves operating out of Lobo Tech. Lobo ultimately defeated himself by allowing Lobo Tech to explode rather than concede defeat to the X-Men.

Stacy X left the X-Men, saying goodbye to Warren in a nude video of her and while he watched this, Paige walked in on him. Unsure if his healing powers were genuine, Warren used his blood at a local children's hospital to heal as many children as he could while the doctors confirmed that like blood types could be healed by him.

Warren and Husk developed a romantic relationship after their ordeal, but it started off uneasy and continued in fits and starts. They committed themselves to each other when the X-Men helped Husk's brother Jay Guthrie deal with mutant bigotry in his hometown. During this time, Warren apologized to Wolverine for not liking him all these years and commended his service with the X-Men.

Warren and Paige took time-off from the X-Men's active roster and Warren founded the Mutantes Sans Frontières, a global outreach effort in Zanzibar. They were attacked by the Weaponeers, hired by Viper for Courtney Ross, during the gala reception.

After being asked to improve the X-Men's public image, Warren, with help from S.H.I.E.L.D., created "Wings Over The World", a dome using anti-gravity units that allowed people with disabilities to use metal wings to glide through the air in the facility. Warren also joined the remaining members of the original X-Men to rescue the 198.

Warren was one of the original Champions assembled by Amadeus Cho to help a recently returned and angry Hulk. It was later revealed that Amadeus simply needed Warren's money and Warren left the group.

Warren supported Cyclops' team sent to Cooperstown, Alaska, after a mutant birth was detected for the first time since M-Day. Warren returned to active duty and was sent to question the Acolytes and later battle the Marauders. When the city of San Francisco was being taken over by the illusions of a mutant known as Goddess, Warren was taken into the illusion and battled against Cyclops and Emma Frost. When he was freed from the mind-controlling illusions, Warren saved the mayor of San Francisco, Sadie Sinclair, from being run over by a truck. At her invitation, the X-Men reformed at their new headquarters in the Marin Highlands of San Francisco, Graymalkin Industries, which was funded by Warren.

While Cyclops was secretly using Warren's Aerie in Colorado for X-Force, Warren was attacked by a brainwashed Wolfsbane and his wings were ripped off. It was learned that Warren's feathered wings were not human, but still techno-organic and when his wings regrew, he reverted to his Archangel persona with blue skin and techno-organic wings. He murdered hundreds of winged Purifiers, members of the Choir, during a raid of their base in retaliation for taking his wings before passing out and reverting to his Angel form.

After joining Cyclops' secret black ops team, X-Force, Warren gained the ability to switch back and forth between his Angel and Archangel personae. X-Force used Warren's home as a temporary base to maintain secrecy. Like all members of X-Force, Warren remained a member of the X-Men, while secretly going on missions with X-Force when ordered. He initially tried to keep his transformation from his other X-Men secret, but during a recruiting mission with Beast, Warren was forced to transform into his Death/Archangel form to save them.

Angel's old nemesis, Cameron Hodge, was resurrected by the Purifiers much to Warren's dismay. Warren also fought against Selene on Necrosha. He was later sent into the future to find Cable. Warren was again sent into the future to stop an endless wave of Nimrods flooding into the dome created by Bastion, encasing the X-Men's new base of Utopia and much of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Cyclops ordered the disbanding of X-Force. Wolverine, however, believed there was still a need for X-Force and decided to run it in secret. Warren joined the re-formed X-Force. Warren and Psylocke rekindled their relationship after joining the team, as she was helping him to control his Death/Archangel persona. Warren and Wolverine became leaders of the squad with Wolverine leading in the field and Warren supplying the funding. Warren also built a new secret bunker in Sedona, Arizona, Cavern-X, which was the base of operations for X-Force, but seconded as an emergency base for the X-Men should they need it.

The team's first mission was to stop the resurrection of Apocalypse. The team was attacked by the Final Horsemen of Apocalypse and Famine left Warren weak and starving. Deadpool attempted to revive Warren by feeding him everything in his pouches and even cut into his own flesh for him. When the team got to Apocalypse, no one was willing to kill the child, not even Archangel. While X-Force argued among themselves, Fantomex killed Apocalypse.

As Angel, Warren was sent to watch over a new mutant manifestation, Laurie Tromette, and fought with the X-Men against the Vampires that had invaded San Francisco, and secretly enjoyed their deaths as Death/Archangel. Warren was among the X-Men that were not on Utopia while Cyclops ordered a quarantine and led a small group of X-Men, consisting of Northstar, Dazzler, Pixie, and Storm, to safeguard San Francisco. The team defeated the Collective Man and captured Lobe's imitation X-Men.

Apocalypse's death triggered an Ascension Protocol within the Death Seed that Apocalypse had planted in Warren to turn him into Archangel. He began to become, in essence, a new Apocalypse. X-Force became aware of this after Warren tried to kill a reporter to whom Shadow King had delivered files on the secret team. To prevent his ascension, X-Force traveled to the Age of Apocalypse under the direction of Dark Beast. They sought to claim a Life Seed to destroy the Death Seed within Warren. Teaming up with the X-Men of that universe, they managed to claim a Life Seed and return to their world but not without unfortunate casualties for the X-Men.

However, they had been tricked. Dark Beast had been working for the ascended Archangel all along. They returned to find Cavern-X overrun by Clan Akkaba, with Archangel at its head. The Life Seed was crucial in his plans to scour all life from the world, replacing it with new life grown from the Life Seed. As a test run, a small town in Montana was destroyed and regrown as Tabula Rasa.

Psylocke surrendered herself, hoping to appeal to whatever was left of Warren. When X-Force's actions led to the demise of the Final Horseman of Death, Archangel gathered a Death Seed from the Dreaming Celestial and transformed Psylocke into his own Death. Betsy was freed from the Archangel's control by Jean Grey from the Age of Apocalypse. She stabbed him with a Celestial Life Seed, which led to the death of Archangel and Warren as a person. All his memories were erased and he became a new person. His body has also returned to its normal form, but with Techno-Organic wings.

Warren was sent to the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning by Wolverine, hoping that would bring back some of his memory. Instead, Warren began to believe himself to be a real Angel. He was enrolled in the school as a student to help change his childish behavior. When the Worthington Industries board of directors noted Warren's strange behavior they decided that he was mentally unfit to run the company. His personal accounts were frozen leaving the Jean Grey School without funding.

When Wolverine's legs were damaged Warren tried to fix them with a "miracle." When he failed he wanted to try it again but Wolverine wouldn't allow him, so he and a few other students went to the casino on Planet Sin. There they took the device that damaged their headmaster's legs so it could be used to heal him. While doing so he forged a friendship with Evan, a clone of Apocalypse.

Warren tried to prove that he truly was a real angel by flying to heaven but he failed and accepted the fact that he was mutant. While falling he was saved by Evan and revealed that he could see the essence of people when he looked at them. Evan asked him what he saw when he looked at him and despite seeing only the image of Apocalypse, Warren told him that he could see nothing but goodness in him. Warren left the school with Bobby and Rachel to help his fellow mutants in the battle against the Avengers. After the battle, he returned to join the stand against Cyclops and has since regained all of his memories.

Tired of Archangel's powers and personality, Warren contacted Clan Akkaba. They cut off his "tainted" wings, and Warren, now "cured and pure," became some sort of prophet in Green Ridge, Colorado; however, Akkaba secretly used his wings to create an army of Archangels and one of those clones escaped and became a member of Magneto's X-Men.

The real Warren was later found in Green Ridge by Psylocke and Magneto. Clan Akkaba revealed their true intentions in helping Warren, when their army of cloned Archangels led by the escaped clone attacked Green Ridge. In the end, Angel, realizing that Archangel needed his humanity, merged with all his clones, creating a new being. This new Archangel was unsure of who or what he now was, but was determined to find out. He swore off all violence and returned with Magneto's X-Men to their base in the Savage Land.

Angel was one of the numerous mutants called by Psylocke when she was attacked by the Shadow King in London. As she and some of the mutants she summoned ventured into the Astral Plane to stop him, Angel decided to stay in the real world to watch over their bodies and keep local authorities at bay. When the Shadow King took over the bodies of Gambit and Logan, Psylocke had Angel reluctantly switch to his Archangel persona to stop them. In the Astral Plane, the Shadow King was fighting against the late Charles Xavier, whose spirit he had managed to capture after his passing. Following the Shadow King's defeat, Xavier returned to the land of the living in the body of Fantomex. Xavier used his telepathic powers on Archangel to subdue his bloodlust and allow Warren to possess full control over his actions even when in his Archangel form.

When X-Man tried to convert the world into a utopia through force, he created the Horsemen of Salvation to help him. One of them was Warren who was turned into X-Man's Horseman of Life. Warren and the Horsemen battled the X-Men who tried to stop X-Man. When X-Man realized that he would never be able to carry out his vision with the X-Men around, he eliminated his enemies in an instant as well as Warren and the other Horsemen on Quadra Island. He was sent by X-Man to a different reality created by X-Man to be a utopia for all mutants could live in peace.

In the reality created by Nate Grey and a Life Seed, a world where everyone on Earth was a mutant and relationships were strongly discouraged or illegal, Warren was the dean of the Summers Institute for Higher Learning in Westchester County. Like its mainstream reality counterpart, Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, the Summers Institute taught mutant children how to control their mutant abilities.

Warren was seen in several instances monitoring the hallways of the institute and encouraging students to get to class. When rebellious students graffitied over notices on a bulletin board, he was seen removing the notices.

Fearing the threat of the mutant drug Unveil and its impact upon her friends, Pixie interrupted a meeting between Sunfire and Warren to express her concerns about Anole and Armor. Warren immediately called in Department X to deal with the issue. Blob and Psylocke arrived to investigate and were let into Anole's room by Warren and Sunfire. Warren commented that Anole had always been a good student and he wasn't sure what had gotten into him.

A week later, a televised interview with Warren played on the convenience store TV where a disguised Armor bought supplies for her and her fugitive cohorts. Warren assured the students that they weren't in any danger, but implored the public to be on the lookout for the missing students and to call Department X if spotted.

After Nate Grey transformed all of the mutants back into their mainstream counterparts, Warren was shown in his office sitting across from an open portal back to reality.

Warren lived on the sovereign Mutant nation state of Krakoa, created by Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Moira X. He later joined Cyclops' team (Wolverine, Mystique, Husk, Penance, Marvel Girl, and Nightcrawler) on a mission to destroy Mother Mold before the creation of Nimrod. Archangel and Husk were both confused at some of Cyclops' methods. The team was spotted as they neared their destination, and subsequently their Shi'ar ship was blown up in a kamikaze attack by Captain Mendel. The explosion killed both Archangel and Husk, but the survivors continued on to destroy Mother Mold, at the cost of their lives.

The team was later resurrected by a group of mutants known as “The Five” (Eva Bell, Proteus, Hope Summers, Elixir, and Goldballs). Merging their powers, The Five were able transfer the deceased X-Men’s minds into cloned bodies. They were later proclaimed as the heroes of Krakoa. Warren was later seen drinking alongside Iceman and Beast at the celebration following the announcement of Krakoa as a sovereign nation under the United Nations and the first meeting of the Quiet Council of Krakoa.

Warren helped fight off the invading Empyre while also contending with Mutant Zombies.

Warren kept a close eye on Apocalypse, worried about what he was planning. The two did find some common ground however, as Apocalypse was proud he decided to show up as Archangel, how he made Warren.

Warren is one of the chairmen of X-Corp.

CONTACTS: Dark Avengers

HISTORY
In recent years, Ares tried to set two of Earth's nations at war with each other. The conflict threatened to spread over all of the Earth, until Ares was forced to put an end to it by his half-sister Venus, whom he has long sought in marriage, and the hero known as the Sub-Mariner. Venus and the Sub-Mariner extracted a pledge from Ares not to engage in further warmongering on Earth.

This did not stop Ares from joining with Hera in order to torment Hercules personally, when Ares briefly possessed the mortal Thunder God Eric Masterson to battle his half-brother.

Ares tired of his own warmongering when he realized that was why the other gods despised him and decided to live a normal life. He gave up his position as god of war, but maintained his skills, weaponry, and immortality. On Earth, he set himself up as a builder/carpenter. He would later father a son with an unidentified mother.

Ares was later forced to help his fellow Olympians when his son Alexander was captured by Mikaboshi. With the help of Zeus, Alexander was freed, and the Kami assisted the Olympians against Mikaboshi.

Still insistent that his son have a mortal upbringing, Ares returned to his life as a construction worker in Dover, New Jersey where he worked during the enactment of the Superhuman Registration Act. Immediately following the super hero Civil War over its legislation, Iron Man and Ms. Marvel traveled to Ares' construction site to recruit him for their new Avengers team. Agreeing that the heroes had ruined his civilian cover, Ares eventually agreed to join the team after Iron Man threatened to deport him to Olympus if he did not register with the U.S. government and promised a salary similar to that of his construction job.

He immediately proved himself by playing a big role against an Ultron infected Iron Man, assisting against a symbiote mutated city, arresting Doctor Doom, and taking part in the battle against the Hulk and his Warbound. Ares was in charge of punishing his half-brother Hercules for aiding the Hulk.[14] He however, failed to contain and recapture Hercules after he escaped and even lost to him in single combat. His final act in the Mighty Avengers was aiding them against an enormous Skrull invasion.

Although Ares was able to get along with most of the Mighty Avengers, his morals and tactics on saving the Earth for the greater good differed. After the invasion, Ares remained a registered superhuman and accepted a place in Norman Osborn's Avengers alongside Mighty Avengers teammate Sentry. He did not understand his former team leader Carol Danvers' (Ms. Marvel's) reluctance to work for Osborn. He viewed his new alliance with the ex-villain simply as continuing the fight that the original Mighty Avengers had started on terrorist-level superhuman, and natural threats against America and even the entire planet.

Misled into believing Asgard's presence on Earth and Thor's exile from that same kingdom were a part of an evil plot begun by Loki (who he was also led to believe was leading the Asgardians), Ares was charged with leading the assault on Asgard. While many of his Dark Avengers teammates and members of the Hood's forces posing as Initiative teams took on Thor, Ares found himself in battle with Balder. Though he believed Balder to be under Loki's influence, the arrival of an injured Heimdall and the truth he shared, led Ares to realize his mistake. Enraged at having been manipulated, he confronted Iron Patriot and vowed to rip his head off. Before he could launch his attack, however, Iron Patriot signaled for the Sentry. Newly possessed of a need for more power, he silently began his assault on Ares and after several powerful blows he grabbed Ares by both arms and ripped him in half, killing him.

Ares was next sighted after Alex's (Phobos) death on the fields of Elysium. He asked his son if he did all he could and then stood proudly with him. Chaos King later brought Ares back to life to fight him. Ares fought well but was overtaken by the unlimited power of the Chaos King and later returned to Elysium.

After discovering the material known as Isotope-8 in the Battlerealm, the Collector waged in a tournament against the Grandmaster, a game known as the "Contest of Champions," in which both Elders used summoners as consultants to bring players from across the Multiverse and have them fight for the Iso-Sphere. In order to showcase the power of the Iso-8, the Collector, on advice of his summoner the Maestro, used it to bring into the contest even people from the afterlife, thus he pulled Ares from Elysium back to the land of the living.

After surviving numerous battles, Ares returned to his home reality when one of the contestants, Outlaw, managed to seize control of the Iso-Sphere from the Maestro, who in turn had taken it from the Collector earlier. Outlaw used the power of the Iso-Sphere to return the contestants to their homes. Ares returned with Outlaw to England, and together with the contestants native of his universe, appeared interested in the idea of forming a team.

CONTACTS: The Titans

HISTORY
Toni Monetti was the daughter of a former U.S. Senator from New Jersey. Around the time she turned sixteen, Toni's skin gained a silver sheen to it. At a pool party for her sixteenth birthday, Toni was mysteriously teleported away. Toni, along with a few other teens, learned that they were half-alien, and their mothers were impregnated by an alien race called the H'San Natall years ago. The teens were part of a sleeper agent program created by the H'San Natall to defeat the super-powered beings already on Earth. The group of teens stayed together, and with the funding of Loren Jupiter, became the newest incarnation of the Teen Titans. Toni's ability to control bursts of silver plasma energy earned her the codename, Argent.

At first, Toni was not a very serious adventurer. However, after fellow teammate Joto apparently died, Argent took his death particularly hard and she vowed to become a better hero. It was then that Loren Jupiter disbanded the team, and Argent sought training advice from Robin. She accompanied him on a mission to stop drug runners, but when she found out her father was involved, she decided to keep the information secret.

When the Teen Titans reformed, Argent was instrumental in initiating a membership drive. The team took on new members Fringe and Captain Marvel, Jr. (also known as CM3). A possible romance of Argent with CM3 was explored, but after a particularly horrible date (CM3 was unable to cover the bill), it was abandoned.

After another battle with the H'San Natall, the team discovered that Joto was in fact alive. When members Prysm and Fringe decided to stay in space, and with CM3 having left earlier, the team decided to disband.

When the original five Titans (Nightwing, Troia, Flash, Tempest and Arsenal) decided to reform the Teen Titans in the wake of the Technis Imperative conflict (in which Toni had fought alongside the former Titans and the JLA), Argent was invited to join.
Later, the Titans were involved in another case involving the highly addictive speed drug, Velocity 9. During the investigation, the role of Argent's father being a distributor of the drug came to light. Argent had to choose between her father and the Titans, and ultimately allowed her father to be arrested.

A mysterious android from the future known as Indigo attacked the Titans and Young Justice, resulting in the apparent deaths of Troia and Omen. After the funeral, Nightwing disbanded the Titans.

When the Teen Titans were once again reformed by former members Cyborg, Starfire and Beast Boy, Argent was not invited. However, when this version of the Teen Titans fought against Doctor Light and all reserve members were called, she was present. She also joined the Titans in their battle against Superboy-Prime, where she saved Risk by stopping the blood flowing from his shoulder after Superboy-Prime ripped his arm off.

One Year Later, Argent became one of the twenty members of the Teen Titans who quit after only a few weeks. During this time, her look was redesigned and began dating (and later breaks up) with teammate Molecule. Toni was later reunited with the Titans when they saved her from being attacked by a giant mutated shark creature.

HISTORY
Arsenal is the current vigilante identity of Roy Harper, Green Arrow's ward and former sidekick. He has also been known as Speedy and Red Arrow during his long career. Though Arsenal has no superpowers, his accuracy with projectiles is equaled only by his mentor.

The boy who would become Arsenal was born Roy Harper, Jr.- the son of a forest ranger. Roy states that he "never knew his mother" and in fact does not even know her name. Roy Harper Sr. raised the child on his own for some time. Unfortunately, Roy, Sr. died while saving members of a Navajo reservation during a major fire when his son was barely two years old. The shaman of the reservation, Brave Bow, raised young Harper in gratitude for Roy, Sr.'s sacrifice. Under Brave Bow's care Roy Harper was raised as a traditional Navajo and treated as a member of the 'Tachini' tribe.

Brave Bow recognized in Harper an early talent for archery, and he was trained in that skill throughout his time on the reservation. With few friends and a lot of time on his hands, Harper practiced extensively, eventually developing the skill of someone twice his age.

After Green Arrow's public debut, Harper developed an immediate hero worship and followed the hero's exploits avidly. When Green Arrow visited the reservation in order to judge an archery contest Harper was participating in, eager Roy did his best to impress his hero, and succeeded in doing so. However, in the final elimination of the tournament Harper was given a magnetized arrow and missed his last shot. When he helped to stop a robber by quickly drawing and firing an arrow, Green Arrow noted that Harper had been "speedier" than he, and offered to take Roy in as his ward. Though publicly the two were known as Oliver Queen and Roy Harper, benefactor and foster child, in private Queen trained Harper to be his partner in crime-fighting. Roy Harper was extensively drilled in the use of both standard arrows and the trick arrows that Green Arrow had created for use in crime-fighting, and when Green Arrow judged him to be sufficiently skilled, he was presented with his own costume and the super-heroic identity of "Speedy." Shortly afterward, Brave Bow died, and Oliver Queen became the only father figure in Roy Harper's life.

As Speedy, Harper assisted his mentor during many of his cases. Just as Green Arrow had become a member of the Justice League of America, so did Speedy find his own colleagues when he joined Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Wonder Girl to become the Teen Titans. While serving with the Titans, he and Wonder Girl (aka Donna Troy) began a semi-serious teenage relationship that later developed into a close friendship.

After his stint with the Titans, several events occurred that made Speedy feel increasingly rootless and abandoned. His relationship with Donna Troy failed to progress past the "teenage sweetheart" stage, the Teen Titans disbanded, and Ollie Queen, the closest thing Harper had to a father, lost much of his fortune and abandoned him to travel America with Hal Jordan (the Green Lantern of Earth) and Queen's girlfriend, the Black Canary. Increasingly alone and extremely depressed, Harper developed a heroin addiction. When Green Arrow discovered his addiction, rather than give Harper support or comfort, Ollie punched him and kicked him out, leaving him homeless. He was later found by Jordan, and with the help of Black Canary and others, Harper quit cold turkey.

Though Harper quit drugs entirely, partly in order to prove his strength to Ollie Queen, the latter's actions had already driven a rift between the two that would take years to heal.

Harper worked as a counselor for teens with drug problems following his recovery, while continuing to pursue a solo career as Speedy. He also joined a re-formed Teen Titans for a time, but the team once again disbanded and Speedy was left on his own.

While counseling teenagers and working as a superhero, Harper's obvious skills as well as his personal connection to the drug underground attracted the attention of the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI), a clandestine government agency largely concerned with drug trafficking and terrorism. The CBI, led by Sarge Steel, trained Harper in undercover work, as well as the use of firearms (Harper learned he was as accurate with a gun as he was with a bow and arrow.) Harper became an official CBI drug enforcement agent.

On one undercover assignment, Harper was tasked with the job of gaining the trust of the sociopathic mercenary Cheshire. Though Harper was meant to eventually turn Cheshire over to the authorities, the two fell in love and had an affair. Harper could not bring himself to turn Cheshire in, but he was concerned that his continued presence would endanger her. That worry combined with his growing misgivings over Cheshire's disregard for life caused Harper to abandon her, unaware that she was pregnant with his child.

When Harper eventually learned that he was the father of Cheshire's daughter, Lian, he teamed up with his old friend Nightwing (formerly known as Robin) to track down Cheshire and prevent her from assassinating a group of diplomats. Speedy was captured by Cheshire and poisoned but rescued by Nightwing. Cheshire escaped leaving little Lian behind, and Nightwing later brought the baby with him when he visited Roy, who was recovering in hospital, and Roy assumed the duties of a single father.

No longer a member of the CBI or the Titans, and still estranged from Oliver Queen, Harper struggled for some time to find his place in the world. For a time, he relocated to Los Angeles, where he attempted a career as a private investigator. Though he assisted the latest incarnation of the Titans on several occasions, he declined to rejoin as a full member. Eventually, he resumed his working relationship with the CBI and then its successor organization Checkmate.
During this time, Speedy's old friends in the Titans were going through a crisis of their own. After being hunted by the Wildebeest Society, led by Jericho, the team had been shattered and reformed. The Titans Tower, their headquarters, was destroyed, and the Titans were rootless and mistrusted by the American government. After making a deal with Harper's employer, Sarge Steel, to become officially supervised and sanctioned by the US Government, Nightwing voluntarily stepped down as leader. The obvious choice to fill the vacuum was Roy Harper, who had connections to both the Titans and the Federal government. Availing himself of Steve Dayton's technology, Harper decided at this point to abandon his identity as Speedy and become Arsenal. Now no longer simply using a bow and arrows, Arsenal's high-tech costume gave him several devices to use for crime-fighting. He would soon abandon his original Arsenal costume in favor of a more streamlined one, but retained his new codename and leadership of the Titans. Unfortunately, the team suffered from a lack of commitment from its various members, and was dissolved yet again.

Arsenal took this opportunity to re-open a dialog with his mentor, Green Arrow. The two managed to forgive one another and bury their past differences, but the reconciliation was short-lived, as Oliver Queen died in an airplane explosion shortly afterward.

Soon, yet another team of Teen Titans emerged. This group consisted of a teen-aged Atom (de-aged by events in Zero Hour) and new heroes Argent, Risk, Joto, and Prysm. The team was funded by Loren Jupiter, once the benefactor of the original Teen Titans of which Harper had been a member.

Jupiter gathered together the original Titans (now going by the aliases of Nightwing, Tempest, Flash, and Arsenal) to combat the threat of his bitter, super-powered son Jarrod Jupiter (Haze). New and old Titans joined forces to defeat Haze, but at a price; Joto apparently lost his life, and Arsenal felt responsible for his death. Arsenal remained with this new group of Titans for a time, but eventually left the group before it, too, disbanded.

Arsenal later came into conflict with Vandal Savage. Savage had discovered that both Roy Harper and his daughter Lian were his descendants, and thus, their organs were suitable for him to harvest to prolong his life.

Arsenal was able to save his daughter from Savage. After this ordeal, he adopted a new look to reflect his Navajo heritage. Shortly after, the original five Titans decided to form yet another incarnation of the team. Arsenal served as a full-time member on the team, and chose to reside at the new Titans Tower with his daughter, Lian. He hired Rose Wilson to be Lian's nanny, and also attempted an adult relationship with Donna Troy, but broke it off when it became clear that Troy was dealing with an identity crisis of her own. Arsenal, who by that point had established a reputation as something of a "ladies' man," went back to his philandering ways.

At roughly the same time, Oliver Queen reappeared, having been resurrected earlier by Hal Jordan (in his identity of Parallax). After Queen sorted out his own issues, he and Harper's friendship renewed.

When a mysterious conglomerate known as Optitron offered to sponsor the Titans and Young Justice, members of both teams encountered a cybernetic girl from the future (known as Indigo) at their complex. The android attacked both teams and disabled nearly half of the group. Those members who could teamed up to track down Indigo, but instead encountered a rogue Superman robot that Indigo had somehow reactivated. The Superman robot made quick work of Lilith, killing her by snapping her neck, and then killed Donna Troy with a heat vision blast to her chest. Though Indigo returned to shut down the Superman Android, the rest of the Titans and Young Justice were left to mourn their fallen friends. Once again, the Titans parted ways.

Arsenal took this opportunity to accept Optitron's offer and formed a new team: the Outsiders. Harper conceived the team as professional and proactive, with none of the "family" connections that seemed to doom various incarnations of the Titans. He began by buying a massive secret underground headquarters beneath New York City. Roy outfitted the shelter with state-of-the-art equipment and began recruiting members for the new team. He successfully coaxed the veteran Metamorpho, as well as Grace (a superhuman bouncer whom Harper had a physical relationship with) and Thunder (daughter of Black Lightning) into joining the team. He also decided to accept Indigo as a member. Even though she had been responsible for activating the Superman android, and ultimately for Lilith's and Donna Troy's deaths, her memory had been wiped clean, and she convinced Arsenal that she wanted to atone for what she had done.

Indigo's presence would prove to be a major sticking point for Arsenal's last recruit: Nightwing. The Titans' former leader was completely unwilling to renew his involvement in a team after such a devastating loss. Arsenal argued that the Outsiders were the next logical step for them beyond the Titans, and that perhaps a team of strangers would operate more efficiently than a team with so many emotional attachments. Nightwing, while still reluctant, agreed to join and became field leader of the Outsiders shortly after the team defeated Gorilla Grodd.

On a later mission, Arsenal was shot in the chest while attempting to stop Brother Blood from activating a global network of sleeper agents. He survived, but was sidelined for months. In the interim, he assigned the Huntress to be his replacement. He was hesitant to resume active duty, feeling afraid of his own limitations, but returned with encouragement from Nightwing.

Not long after his recovery, the Outsiders took on a case which involved a child-slaver and molester named Tanner. One of Tanner's informants recognized Harper from years prior, and led Tanner to Lian Harper. Lian's nanny was killed and the girl was branded with Tanner's mark. The Outsiders arrived just in time to save Lian and other children from being flown out of New York.

Oddly, Arsenal's near-death from gunshot wounds later saved his life when he met Deathstroke. The villain, Arsenal discovered, had been posing as Batman and feeding him information since the Outsiders began. Deathstroke and Arsenal fought, with Deathstroke intending to kill him, but when the mercenary discovered the bullet scars on Arsenal's chest, he figured Arsenal had suffered enough and gave him a "pass." About the same time, Arsenal was also kidnapped by Green Arrow's nemesis Constantine Drakon. Drakon was working with the Riddler, and slit Arsenal's throat so that he would have to apply constant pressure to the wound or die. The Outsiders helped search for Arsenal and rescued him.

During the period of turmoil known as the Infinite Crisis, Indigo was revealed to be a plant of Brainiac's, and almost succeeded in destroying the team. Later, Arsenal and the Outsiders were among the heroes gathered to defend Metropolis from an invasion by The Society. After the disappearance of Batman, Robin, Superman, and Wonder Woman, the Outsiders continued to operate, but found themselves handling low-level criminals and making little difference in the world. When Nightwing and Red Hood discovered that Black Lightning, former Outsider and father of Thunder, had been arrested for a crime he didn't commit, the Outsiders attempted a rescue. Ultimately, they failed in their attempt, and ended up believed dead by the outside world. Though the team saw this as an opportunity to operate covertly, Arsenal soon realized he was not made for the life of a cloak and dagger hero and left the team, returning full command to Nightwing.

Nearly a year later, after their return to active duty, the heroes Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, decided to reform the Justice League of America, which had been disbanded during the Crisis. In a sign that he had finally "made it," Arsenal was asked by the three to join the latest incarnation of the team. In their first mission as teammates, Hal Jordan referred to Harper as "Red Arrow" (attempting to cover for the fact that he almost called him by his real name). Though Harper was surprised by this new nickname, he soon embraced the identity with the help of a new costume, given to him by his former mentor, Green Arrow. His new name and costume became symbolic of his "coming of age" and the end of his troubled relationship with Oliver Queen. Red Arrow continues to serve with the Justice League.Red Arrow later began an intimate relationship with Hawkgirl. The relationship later ended and Roy eventually left the Justice League.

Following Bruce Wayne's death in Final Crisis, Roy returned to the team after discovering that Ollie and his splinter Justice League have been hunting down and torturing criminals. After Ollie and Hal Jordan inform the JLA that the murderous supervillain Prometheus is planning a massive attack on the world's superheroes, the two Leagues agree to put aside their differences and join forces. Roy vouches for Batwoman's qualifications when she contacts the team, telling them that Dick has informed him of her skills. Roy briefly leaves to call Lian and Mia to wish them goodnight, only to return to the meeting room a few minutes later, savagely beaten and missing an arm. He collapses and goes into shock as the Leaguers desperately try to keep him alive. The person responsible is revealed to be Prometheus who then destroys Star City using a massive teleporter.
Roy manages to survive and is given a bionic arm and ultimately finds out that Lian had been killed by a teleporter, whereas Mia had survived. Roy suffers numerous emotional breakdowns and berates Mia for being unable to protect Lian. Roy begins to feel delusional after Lian's death and receiving his bionic arm. He begins to suffer hallucinations of his deceased drug buddy, Corey, who tempts him back into using heroin. After finding out that Green Arrow killed Prometheus, Roy is less than satisfied and states to Ollie that it should have been him to exact vengeance for Lian's death.

During Lian's funeral, Roy begins to hallucinate thumping noises in Lian's coffin. He runs away to take painkillers he stole from Doctor Mid-Nite's lab, only to be greeted by Ravager who attempts to comfort him. Roy then berates his friends and leaves stating he doesn't need their pity. At his home, Roy attempts to practice his archery but lacks his previous accuracy. While tending to his bandages, Cheshire ambushes him and states that Roy is a failure for being unable to protect their daughter. Roy then berates Cheshire on her parenting skills and throws her against a wall. Ultimately, Cheshire has an emotional breakdown and in a moment of comfort by Roy, they share a passionate moment and have sex. He then departs for the destroyed remains of Star City and, wearing his old Arsenal costume, beats up a group of men with knives.

While leaping off roof tops, he is haunted by Corey who continues to tempt him into his previous drug habits. Having run out of painkillers, Roy goes to a nearby alleyway and ultimately relapses. Roy drifts into a hallucinatory state where Lian is alive and well. The two of them are attacked by a gang of Prometheus's who Roy easily dispatches. Roy then looks up to find the Electrocutioner, and Roy is convinced he is trying to hurt Lian.

In reality, the Lian Roy was fawning over was actually a dead kitten and he had beaten down a gang of drug-addicts with the cat. Roy attacks Dick Grayson bent on protecting the Lian in his hallucination. Outclassed in every way he is beaten by Grayson, who places him in a rehabilitation center. Even in confinement, Roy mumbles to himself, speaking to his old friend Corey who taunts him about his slow descent back into addiction. Roy tries to resist, determined to reform himself, but is visited by a hallucinatory Lian saying "But I need you. Daddy, didn't you hear me crying for you?"

Deliberately injuring himself to alert some paramedics, Roy manages to escape the center, and sets off to break into the jail where the Electrocutioner, the accomplice of Prometheus who was directly responsible for Lian's death, is being held. Despite Green Arrow's intervention, Roy cruelly butchers Buchinsky with his knives, then burns away his house and all his possessions, becoming a dark, brooding vigilante enacting his brand of deadly justice on lowlifes and criminals, and re-taking the mantle of Arsenal. After Cheshire approaches him to help murder Deathstroke, Roy apparently double crosses her and joins Slade's new, villainous team of Titans, although Cheshire mentally congratulates him for his performance, revealing it to be a ruse. Upon returning to the labyrinth, Deathstroke reveals to them that his proceeding items were used to create a healing machine called "Methuselah" for his dying son, Jericho. After healing Jericho, Deathstroke claims the machine can also resurrect the dead, offering Roy and Cheshire the chance to revive Lian. Cheshire accepts, but Roy refuses, realizing that he had just been punishing himself for his daughter's death all this time, and that Lian is in a better place. Joined by Tattooed Man and Cinder, Roy fights the rest of the Titans in an attempt to destroy the Methuselah Device.

In the aftermath, Roy and Jericho agreed to reform the Titans one more time, agreeing to take it one day at a time.

Brainiac abducted Roy around the defeat of the Titans for hire. Trans-ported to the planet Telos and kept inside a dome with other captives of the multiverse, Roy resided there for a year. The dome depowered all the inhabitants within it, deactivating Roy's cybernetic arm as a side effect. Over the course of a year, Roy opened a children's home in Lian's honor, naming it "Lian's Home."

When the dome was opened and metapowers were reactivated, the city was attacked by Dreamslayer. Roy called on the help of Donna Troy and Starfire, who had also gotten their powers back. Dreamslayer offered Roy a wish - if Roy killed his Titans teammates, Dreamslayer would bring Lian back to life. Roy pretended to ac-cept the offer long enough to de-feat Dreamslayer and have him resurrect Lian anyway.

Overjoyed that his daughter was back to life, Roy learned that Dreamslayer had revived Lian with no memories of dying. Dreamslayer returned, hellbent on killing the Titans. Though Roy was prepared to spring into action to protect his daughter, the Titans insisted he stay with her as they went off to fight without him. Roy hugged his daughter, reunited

HISTORY
Arthur Curry was born the son of the Atlantean queen Atlanna and the Amnesty Bay lighthouse keeper Tom Curry. Atlanna returned to Atlantis, so Tom was forced to raise Arthur alone. As a child Arthur began to show that he had inherited his mother's gifts. Tom turned to Doctor Stephen Shin, a scientist he saved from a storm, so he could better understand Arthur's abilities.

During the time of Arthur's graduation, Shin attempted to release his research to the public, so Tom destroyed all of it except a phial of Arthur's blood, which he took. Shin paid a treasure hunter known as the Black Manta to retrieve the phial from the Curry household. However, there was a struggle and the stress caused Tom to suffer a heart attack, and he died in the hospital soon after. Arthur then tracked Black Manta down and killed his father, believing it to be Manta himself. He then fled civilization until he was brought to Atlantis by his mother's royal adviser Vulko.

He ruled over Atlantis for a while until he abandoned his role, and his brother Orm took the throne. He went on to form The Others, a team made up of outcasts who would search the globe for the Dead King's Atlantean Weapons so they could be safe guarded. After retrieving the artifacts and keeping the Trident of Neptune, Aquaman parted ways with the Others. At some point between leaving the Others and joining the Justice League, Arthur met and fell in love with Mera, a Xebelian princess sent to kill him.

After leaving Atlantis and coming across a demon-like being activating a device that opened a portal, dozens of the demon-like creatures emerged from the portal and headed to the surface. Upon reaching the surface and witnessing what could only be an invasion force, he then met up with other superheroes such as the Green Lantern of Sector 2814; the Amazonian princess Wonder Woman; the fastest man alive The Flash; the dark vigilante Batman; and Superman who hailed from a dead planet. The group then proceeded to kill any of the invaders who got in their way as they attempted to stop the invasion force. The group then met up with a Cyborg. The Cyborg told the group that the leader of the invasion force comes from world to world harvesting any organic material. At that point, an-other portal opened and the ruler of the invaders, Darkseid, stepped through.

The tyrant used his telekinetic power to crush the whole group, rendering a majority of them un-conscious, including Arthur. Upon awakening, the Flash told the group that Superman had been taken by Darkseid's forces. Coordinating their attacks, the group attempted to blind Darkseid so his energy beams would be ineffective. While the team was distracting Darkseid, Batman traveled to the home base of Darkseid- the planet Apokolips- to save Superman. Cyborg then used his built-in mother box to open several portals. All of Darkseid's minions were pushed back through the portal. Wonder Woman and Arthur then blinded Darkseid, and with the help of Superman, the team were able to push the tyrant back to Apokolips. After saving the world from Darkseid's invasion the superheroes were heralded as heroes and given the name Justice League.

Arthur took on a ward in the form of a boy named Garth who became the first Aqualad. Aqualad would go on to join the Teen Titans and have many adventures until the world's mind was erased by Mister Twister making them forget about the Teen Titans. This included Aquaman, who forgot about raising Garth and taking him on as Aqualad. As such Garth became oblivious to his history and joined the Atlantean Army, unaware of his past with Arthur and the Teen Titans.

As Aquaman, Arthur Curry began protecting Boston, having decided to completely abandon Atlantis to pursue a life on land with Mera. Boston was attacked by a carnivorous underwater species called The Trench, and Aquaman and Mera fended off the invasion.

Chasing the Trench, which had taken hostages, to the Marianas Trench, they discovered the predators dying out and desperately trying to feed their children in the remnants of an Atlantean craft. The heroes saved the captives, and Aquaman reluctantly caused the Trench's extinction to prevent further loss of human life. During the U.S. Navy's investigation of the hideout after the fact, Aquaman came in contact with the ship's black box, discovering a centuries-old warning inside.

Reuniting with an old ally of Aquaman's named Ya'Wara from his days with the Others, Aquaman and Mera were informed that Black Manta had killed Kahina the Seer, another former member of the Others, and had taken one of the Artifacts of Atlantis—the Seal of Clarity which she was guarding. In order to ensure their safety, Aqua-man and Ya'Wara began to work together to contact the Others in case Black Manta had gotten to them. First they traveled to the United States Health Center in Heidelberg, Germany in search of Prisoner-of-War before Manta am-bushed them, stole Ya'Wara's necklace, and escaped.

Once the Others were finally assembled, one of their members called the Operative informed them that Black Manta planned to steal the Dead King's Scepter. Although the Others tracked down the villain's location and Aquaman managed to defeat Manta, the he-roes did not succeed in time to stop Manta from delivering the scepter to a mysterious stranger and Vostok-X was killed.

Arthur and the League took down the villain Spore, an A.R.G.U.S. employee who had been exposed to a virus when an unknown individual stole the Orb of Ra. Over their next few missions the League was followed around by Aqua-man's frenemy Green Arrow, who insisted he should join the team, however the League wasn't opening ranks due to their last new addition Martian Manhunter. The Jus-tice League realized soon after this that someone was attacking the League's enemies such as the Key and the Scavenger, to find out the Justice League's weaknesses in both body and mind. After interrogating several of the villains they all gave a single name- Graves.

Shortly after this, Aquaman was saving the inhabitants of a sunken cruise ship when he was called to the Watchtower by Cyborg. The Justice League discussed the threat that this "Graves" faced when Graves entered the Watch-tower with Steve Trevor's codes and attacked the League. The entire League was defeated by the spirits Graves controlled. Graves then vanished from the scene. They then went to Tracy Trevor's and she explained that Graves was the author David Graves who had previously praised the League after they saved his family during Darkseid's invasion. However, Graves's family had gotten sick and died, and he went missing after he gained the sickness. Graves believed that the League caused the illness. After a brief skirmish between Lantern and Wonder Woman over the League's priorities, they all headed to the Valley of Souls where Graves had been imbued with his power. They were then set upon by illusions of their biggest losses. The League were soon snapped out of the illusion as Trevor arrived. They then fought off Graves and his Asuran masters, and Aquaman was able to break Graves' connection to the Asuras, ending his terror.

After the defeat of David Graves, Batman and Aquaman were having arguments about which one of them should lead the Justice League, as the team needed greater stability after Green Lan-tern left. These arguments were postponed due to the emergence of Wonder Woman's enemy Cheetah who had defeated her enemy and disappeared. The League tracked Cheetah to a jungle where she ambushed them and bit Superman. Superman then fell under her control and attacked the League. Cheetah fled the scene as the tribe of the Cheetah fled. After helping to secure Superman and return him to normal, the leader of the tribe explained the origin of the Cheetah. The League then chased Cheetah around the forest until Aquaman apprehended her.

After a series of aggressive moves made by the U.S. government on the area surrounding Atlantis, the underwater state declared war on the surface world. Though Aqua-man wanted to stop the conflict peacefully with the help of the Jus-tice League, he soon learned that his own half-brother Orm was leading the invasion.

Conflicted between his loyalties to the Justice League and Atlantis, Aquaman learned by investigating into the matter that Orm had not caused the mysterious attacks by the United States in order to start the war, instead, the culprit was Vulko, who was exiled from Atlantis after Curry's departure and wanted revenge.

Battling Orm's oncoming fleet in Boston, Aquaman tried to explain to his brother the conspiracy brought on by Vulko, though Orm refused to stand down. Usurping Orm and declaring himself king once more, Aquaman ended the war on the surface and declared the arrests of both Vulko and Orm.

Once king again, Aquaman soon received news that Mera had dis-appeared inside the Bermuda Tri-angle. He traveled to the Triangle and reached the kingdom of Xebel, Mera's homeland, where he came face to face with the Dead King, who had imprisoned the entire city in ice. After freeing Mera and fighting the Dead King, Aquaman and Mera retreated to Atlantis to find the city under attack by the villainous Scavenger's fleet. Aquaman summoned Topo, a massive underwater monster, with his telepathy to destroy the Scavenger's forces, but the strain of con-trolling the beast caused him to go into a coma just as the Dead King arrived to reclaim Atlantis.

Aquaman awakened six months later under Vulko's care in Antarctica. Returning to Atlantis, Arthur commanded the Trench to liberate his home from its tyrant. After a lengthy brawl, Arthur killed the Dead King, being acknowledged as the king of Atlantis once again.

Aquaman was reunited with the Others when Vostok-X's helmet was stolen from The Living Room by a twisted version of animals. The Others tracked the helmet to the location of the thief, where it was revealed that the helmet was stolen by Morgaine le Fey, an im-mortal sorceress, member of the Immortal Men and sister of Madame Xanadu.

Morgaine wanted the helmet due to its magical properties; the helmet rid the user of the need of sustenance which would allow her to finally leave the Earth. When Arthur and the others arrived Morgaine cast illusions on each of the Others, giving them the chance to join her or die. Arthur, Operative, Prisoner-Of-War and Sky Alchesay all denied but Ya'Wara opted to join her as she believed Morgaine could help her save the Amazon Rainforest. Morgaine was defeated by the Others and Ya'Wara was brought to her senses shortly after.

Sometime after defeating Morgaine, the Others came under at-tack from a covert military force trying to retrieve the Artifacts; all of these attempts were futile as Aquaman and the Others were able to fight them off each time. The operatives then kidnapped Kahina the Seer's sister Sayeh wanting access to her Precognition. Arthur and the others were then ambushed by Anton Solokov and his sister Darya who were behind the attacks. They then transported the Others to their castle in Trezygstan where they met the true enemy, Legend.

Legend revealed that he was from the time of the Dead King and that he had stolen his father's enchanted gold and then murdered him. Atlan then used the Gold to forge the Atlantean Weapons, and Legend had been trying to get the gold back since then. Ya'Wara was tele-ported to the moon in the conflict and discovered a clone of Vostok which after returning to Earth helped Aquaman and the Others defeat Legend and the Solokov twins, killing Legend in the process. Sayeh and Vostok 2 joined the Others after the battle.

After the fight with Legend, Opera-tive was ambushed during a deal by the KGBeast who threw him off a building. Operative was saved by Vostok and continued to fight with the KGBeast until he was over-whelmed by both opponents. Cheshire then helped the Beast escape as Aquaman appeared on the scene. Cheshire and KGBeast then met up with the rest of their team, a group of villains known as Mayhem whose members includ-ed Maelstrom, Strangehold, Braze, Cheshire, KGBeast and NKVDemon.

With the drive retrieved from the conflict with Operative - which contained nuclear launch codes - Mayhem planned to threaten the World and usurp whatever they wanted from it. To make matters worse for Arthur the Prisoner-Of-War became possessed by one of the soldiers he absorbed. However, Aquaman and the Others were able to contain the soldier and free the Prisoner-Of-War. Operative corrupted the launch codes before Mayhem could fire any Nuclear Missiles. The Others and Mayhem then fought on an abandoned Prison Island ending the threat.

Months after Orm's invasion of the surface the Justice League began considering opening their ranks to new membership. After a semi-audition of the heroes who had assisted the League during the invasion the League picked three new members- Firestorm, Element Woman and The Atom (Rhonda Pineda).

Around this time the League watchtower was hacked with a message- have a nice day. On the day of the new members' introduction the Batcave was attacked by a mysterious figure who had defeated Red Hood and Alfred and taken a Kryptonite Ring. Upon investigation Batman and Aquaman weren't able to find a possible culprit, meanwhile the new members were fighting off the villain Despero who had entered the Watch-tower- causing it to crash down to Earth, however the heroes were able to defeat the alien when they discovered that it bore the kryptonite ring.

After the League arrived on the scene Batman and Cyborg noticed that a microscopic slither of kryptonite was missing from the ring. While Superman and Wonder Woman were imprisoning Despero they were met upon by the woman who let evil upon the World Pandora who gave Superman her box as she hoped that his pure heart would activate the box sealing all evil up once again, however this failed so she vanished. Shortly after this the League received a message that a superhero had entered Kahndaq which was against the law. The Justice League entered Kahndaq and attempted to apprehend Shazam with the help of Zatanna before the situation escalated. Soon after this the government supported Justice League of America arrived on the scene, the arrival of this team quickly lead to conflict after Superman killed Doctor Light with his Heat Vision. Superman quickly ended the fight and ordered the Justice League of America to arrest him.

While Superman was in custody Wonder Woman met with the Jus-tice League Dark, as she believed they could help her find Pandora's Box which she thought had corrupted Superman. Believing nothing good would come of Wonder Woman finding the box, Amanda Waller sent the JL and JLA to apprehend Wonder Woman. Upon locating Wonder Woman she was able to convince several members of the JL teams to help in her search, including Aquaman. Eventually, the team tracked Pandora down to Lex Luthor's cell where the box began corrupting the League members one by one. John Constantine was able to get the box and teleported away before any more harm could be done. Upon tracking down the box to where the team was thrown into turmoil once more. At that moment the mysterious leader of the Secret Society of Super-Villains known as the Out-sider took the box. Atom then revealed that it was her that planted Kryptonite in Superman's brain- causing him to kill Doctor Light, as she was a mole for the Outsider called Atomica. Cyborg was then expelled from his body by one of his programs calling itself Grid who was working for the pair and had hacked the Watchtower. Outsider then activated the box revealing it to be a portal to another world and a figure who looked like Aquaman came out and instantly died. Then more evil versions of the Justice League came out of the portal with Outsider and Atomica joining them, they attacked the heroes claiming the World as the property of the Crime Syndicate.

As the Justice Leagues began fighting the Syndicate Deathstorm, the evil counterpart of Firestorm, blasted Firestorm causing him to have a nuclear reaction. This reaction dragged almost every hero present into the Firestorm Matrix including Arthur. The Syndicate then put Firestorm in the hands of Despero who created illusions for each hero so they wouldn't have a chance of escaping the Matrix and stopping the Syndicate. Aquaman was thrown in an illusion where all sealife had been killed by humans that put him in an endless cycle of sorrow and rage. Months later Batman was able to take down the Crime Syndicate with the help of a group of villains including Black Manta called the Injustice League and free the League. As a result of the conflict Black Manta, Ocean Master and many other villains escaped imprisonment and all the Crime Syndicate members had died apart from Grid, Ultraman, Owlman and Superwoman. Also Lex Luthor and Captain Cold were taken into consideration for Justice League membership due to their heroic actions in the invasion.

Shortly after the invasion, the League began hunting various members of the Secret Society while trying to find evidence that Luthor hadn't reformed. Agreeing that they needed to know what had happened to the Crime Syndicate's Earth they began hunting down the ring used by the deceased Syndicate member Power Ring as it held information on the upcoming threat. Eventually the team were able to locate the Ring in Oregon where it had found a new host in the form of Jessica Cruz When they arrived on site Cruz was wreaking havoc due to the ring controlling her and their was an-other team on the site- The Doom Patrol. Upon approaching the team their leader The Chief said he would bring the girl in to keep her from hurting anyone. The teams clashed with Aquaman fighting Robotman, the fighting stopped when Batman was able to calm Cruz down- freeing her from the ring's influence temporarily. They then took Cruz back to base where Arthur and Barry watched over her. At the same time Superman, Bat-man and Wonder Woman decided to allow Luthor in the League to keep an eye on him.

After saving some Atlantean work-ers from lava vents an alert was triggered that a giant creature was attacking the coast. This creature turned out to be the Karaqan a legendary Atlantean guardian, despite this Aquaman killed the beast to halt its rampage. Aquaman tracked a piece of the Karaqan's brain to an underwater facility called Triton Base (that had siphoned a piece of the brain from the Karaqan's corpse) where he proceeded to save a diver named Coombs from some sharks although he was critically injured in the attack.

On a trip to the surface world the Trident of Neptune was stolen by a researcher named Daniel Evans so he could learn more about ancient Atlantis, Aquaman was not able to stop him from accidentally unleashing the dreaded Giant-Born upon the world from an artifact. The beasts, who recognized Aquaman's Atlantean royal symbol, attacked him for associating with the ancient family who once imprisoned them.

Though he managed to fend off the Giant-Born, also unleashed from that artifact was the ancient hero Hercules, whose mind had been warped after having such an extended stay in the hellish land-scape he was trapped in. He, too, was defeated by Aquaman, who sent him back into the artifact and swore that he would one day find a way to help the man reclaim his sanity.

Tracking the escaped Giant-Born to Carcassonne in France, Aquaman enlisted the help of Wonder Woman who with the help of Daniel Evans put a stop to the evil abominations.

An unstoppable Algae monster had begun terrorizing the ocean, killing everything in its way. Looking for a solution to the problem Aquaman and Ya'Wara went searching for the Swamp Thing in hopes of answers. However, when confronting the Avatar of the Green no answers were given and he simply fled.

When Aquaman returned to com-bat the monster Swamp Thing was trying to commune with it, he then had Swamp Thing eaten by Sea-cows before turning to the Algae monster. Aquaman called on his Atlantean forces to destroy the creature but then it fell apart. It turned out Swamp Thing had learned that it was a part of the uber-consciousness of all plant life that split off and formed a baby reality called Kreuzblütler, which Swamp Thing was able to destroy internally.

In Triton Base, one of the scientist's attempts to create a hybrid creature out of the Karaqan's brain and Coombs' remains was successful, however, the creature escaped the base and began its search for the King of Atlantis.

The creature, now calling itself Chimera, reached out to Arthur through marine telepathy and overpowered Aquaman's connection to sea life, making them attack him. The connection broke and Aquaman looked for answers about his experience which led him to a hospital boat where Stephen Shin was staying ever since Chimera escaped captivity. Chimera attacked Arthur on the boat and overpowered him, but the creature was defeated by an ignited fuel tank which blew it up.

Atlantis was suffering a chain of seaquakes so Aquaman employed the surface researchers Stephen Shin and Daniel Evans to assist in the investigation. It was soon dis-covered that the reason for the quakes was because the city did not see Aquaman as its true ruler; this meant that Atlantis never recognized that Atlanna had died. Aquaman discovered her body was not in her tomb. He then proceeded to open an investigation with the help of the Martian Man-hunter. This led him to the The Maelstrom Gate where he opened a portal in search of answers.

The portal opened in Gorilla City where he was greeted by Lord Solovar ruler of the city. He asked if anyone had come through the portal years ago and Solovar told that Grodd had the answers, after quickly dispatching Grodd he was told that a woman came through some 15 years ago. He then reentered the portal.

The portal led to the Polynesian seas where Aquaman and Mera were directed to a portal guarded by Fire Trolls. They defeated the Trolls and entered the portal traveling to a hidden island named Pacifica. They were then attacked by Atlanna and her Atlantean tribe who did not believe who Arthur was. After Aquaman was knocked unconscious by Atlanna, she at-tempted to sacrifice him to Karaku the Volcano God and ruler of the Island. However he escaped and Karaku attacked the tribe out of anger, sending legions of fire trolls on them. The God was then defeated by Mera and Atlanna realized Aquaman is her son. After abruptly departing from Pacifica Aquaman received a message in the form of a Shell of Sounds from his mother.

Arthur heard rumors of alien structures and poisoned water in the kingdom so lead an investigation team to one of the sites. The water it emitted stung to the touch so the team destroyed the structure. As they realized more structures were appearing Arthur speculated that it was an invasion force from another dimension. While investigating, Arthur determined that the particular structure harbored refugee Atlanteans who had escaped the torment of the other dimension and were led by a warlock named Extriax.

Upon returning to Atlantis, Aqua-man was attacked by Mera who believed not destroying the structures due to the possible refugees inside would cause the downfall of the World. Cast out from Atlantis, Aquaman visited Poseidon hoping to receive the strength to stop the invading dimension and take back Atlantis. As a response Poseidon gave him the powers of lightning, earth, water, ice and flight as well as a trident.

Continuing to destroy as many structures as he could on land and in the sea, while fighting off any forces coming through the portals, Aquaman continued to run from Atlantis and saved as many refugees as possible. He learned that the alternate dimension was known as Thule, and that during King Atlan's rule an organization of sorcerers known as the Coven of Thule orchestrated wars so they could rule in the shadows, however the King put a stop to this so they created a pocket dimension where they could rule indefinitely. The Coven then built up an invasion force, conquering worlds on their plain so they would be ready when the spell was lifted.

After escaping an Atlantean task force led by Garth Arthur visited Mera to try to convince her of his cause. However Mera revealed that she was not actually Mera, but her sister Hila who was working as ruler of Atlantis for the Coven of Thule. After escaping from Atlantis, the Justice League sought out Arthur as they wanted to know what was causing the worldwide calami-ty. After filling the League in, Arthur instructed them to destroy any invading forces in countries across the world. While the League was spearheading the defense, Arthur was to invade Atlantis.

Aquaman attacked Atlantis using sea monsters to help him topple the large quantities of enemies. After saving Mera from captivity the pair defeated Hila and headed to the Coven's lair. With the help of Garth, Murk, Swatt, his step-sister Tula and Mera, Aquaman was able to destroy the Coven and all portals across the World, sacrificing his blessings in the process. After the war was over Arthur inducted the refugees into Atlantis.

Sometime after the Thule invasion, Aquaman began to develop relations with the surface world by creating Spindrift Station, an Atlantean embassy on American soil. He appointed Mera as head of relations between Atlantis and the sur-face world under the guise of Aquawoman. Meanwhile, he assisted the F.B.I. in the investigation of multiple murders related to an unknown sea creature which the press was calling Dead Water.

During this investigation, he was attacked by the creature who could teleport through water bodies. He was able to defeat the creature and it was revealed that he was a nor-mal man who had worked for Scavenger named Jonah Payne and was lashing out against people who had wronged him as Dead Water. Aquaman, now knowing this, confronted Scavenger and defeated him. He was then in-formed that Jonah Payne had disappeared months earlier during a salvage op in a strange water body. Aquaman and Scavenger were then attacked by Dead Water and Payne was killed in the fight.

While making delegations with representatives regarding a Mutual Defense Pact between his home nation of Atlantis and the rest of the world, he made a statement of how it was little more than an excuse for people of power to study atlantean craft while their respective nations kept WMD's pointed at his waters.

As he reassured them Atlantis held no malice to the surface so long as the rest of the world left them in peace, Arthur received word of a foreigner in his kingdom searching for a way into Olympus. Reaching his kingdom, the emissary pro-claimed the time of false gods was over and that he was there to free Atlantis and it's people from their yoke. debating about the presence of gods whom Arthur didn't believe in. He left the prophet among his people, having faith that they would be no more interested in serving Rao than they were in the worship of the long abandoned Poseidon.

He quickly came to regret that decision however when he and his beloved saw a prophet convert a resisting citizen into one of their flock. After Mera worriedly asked about his leaving one of the prophets in Atlantis, Arthur immediately demanded him to leave. Only to find the situation had escalated and his people quickly turned on him when he reacted violently to the Prophets acclaiming Roa's sovereignty over his home. After the Prophets failed attempt at destroying what was left of Olympus, Arthur woke up alongside Wonder Woman on the newly restored home of the gods.

The latter stating since the mindset of Olympus's ruler shapes the environment, it reflected whatever she; as the Goddess of War and sole god remaining there, wished it to be. In the wake of current events, the two headed to the armory in order to prep for war against Rao and his followers. Heading into Ares' old munitions bunker, Diana took several weapons of the gods from the arsenal, even handed Aquaman the relic of Atlantis's former sea god.

As Superman battles Rao in the arctic circle, Diana managed to teleport herself and Arthur into the fray, and delivered critical blows to the would-be god with their divine instruments, but soon relented when Kal-El revealed that any damage the mad deity suffered killed all of those who were under his thrall, as it was their life-force which fed and sustained him. Through Batman's planning, use of Parasite teamed with the rest of the League, they were able to sever their adversaries link to the en-slaved populace of the earth. But at the cost of Clark's life. Aquaman did his best to console his team-mate, when Wonder Woman struck his body with the Bolt of Zeus; Arthur and the others were surprised and gladdened to find Clark was among the living again. Just as Rao reconvened with old world Krypton, bringing it back with him to present day in Earth's Orbit with an army of Kryptonians at his beck and call.

As the league struggled to deal with the steadily empowering Kryptonian army set against them, Arthur rebutted the invading Dwalu who dismissed him as a fish-man whose god long since abandoned him. Right around when he used the Trident of the old Sea Monarch to summon a tidal wave to sweep them all aside. With help from the Infinity Corporation execs, the yellow sun of the earth was turned into a Red giant through the Stones of Life. Depowering all the Kryptonian forces, while Rao was undone by his younger self as the Justice League assembled where the ty-rant met his demise.

Garth was reunited with his former friends on the Teen Titans and together they were able to defeat Mister Twister and get their memories back after years. This meant Arthur remembered adopting Garth and having him as Aqualad. With his new found friends Garth went on to form a group known as the Titans. During Wally West's attempt to escape the Speed Force Arthur brought Mera to Paradise Island near where they first met. Here he proposed to her and she said yes.

Arthur heard news of a threat to the surface world: a group of Atlantean extremists known as the Deluge led by Corum Rath, who wanted nothing to do with the surface world. The group was heading up stream to Boston with enough fusion charges to level the whole city. Fortunately, Aquaman was able to stop this from happening as he defeated the terrorists before they could cause another war between Atlantis and the Surface World.

During a diplomatic meeting in Spindrift Station a bomb went off and Aquaman was attacked by Black Manta, who was attempting to ruin Atlantis' negotiations with the surface world. Aquaman and Manta fought to a stand still until Aquaman allowed Manta to kill him, believing that Manta wouldn't as it would render his life meaning-less. Black Manta chose to surrender and Arthur met up with Mera to check on her well-being. When he returned to the embassy it was on lockdown by the U.S. army due to the terrorist attack.

Aquaman and Mera travelled to the White House and met with the Chief of Staff to get Spindrift up and running again. However, Arthur was arrested after a U.S. war-ship named Pontchartrain was sunken by a group of "Atlanteans" claiming to be the Deluge. In order to stop a war from taking place Aquaman agreed to go along with the United States' wishes. However tensions grew worse as the Drift had been caught investigating the wreckage of the Pontchartrain, causing U.S. forces to attack them. This prompted Mera to break Arthur out of jail and the two fought through battalions of U.S. soldiers in an attempt to reach the open ocean. However, this was stopped when Superman arrived and tried to convince Arthur to stand down. Not convinced by Superman's plea, Arthur began to attack him until the Atlantean forces arrived to protect him. After receiving an or-der from Superman to fix the conflict Aquaman retreated to Atlantis and began to look for a way to halt the forthcoming war.

Upon return to Atlantis, Murk dis-played one of the helmets used by the Deluge during the attack on the Pontchartrain, it was at this moment that Arthur realized someone was trying to start a war between Atlantis and the surface world and that they were surface dwellers as the Atlantean helm had breathing apparatus on it. After making this discovery Arthur interrogated Corum Rath about the helmet but learnt he knew nothing, so he had F.B.I. agents Reagan Irving and Arni Ajar investigate the gear on the surface world.

Aquaman learnt of a giant monster heading towards Atlantis that was believed to have been released by the organization behind the conflict. When Arthur went to investigate the creature it attacked him and laid waste to him and all of his forces. Arthur realized that the monster was a creature known as the Shaggy Man, an unstoppable being that had gone toe to toe with the whole Justice League at once. After carving a path through Atlantis the monster headed to the sur-face world where it began laying waste to Amnesty Bay. Arthur faced the creature alone for the fate of the world and managed to defeat it by teleporting it into space using his Justice League teleportation card, seriously injuring himself in the process.

When Mera visited him in hospital she told him that she had spoken to Lieutenant Joanna Stubbs of the British Navy who had told her that a shadow organization known as the National Enforcement Macrocosmic Order (N.E.M.O.) was behind the conflict. After receiving this information Arthur informed the Justice League who helped ease the tension by heralding Aquaman as a hero. As relations began to take a more positive turn, news of an Atlantean invasion hit the world.

N.E.M.O. had invaded several cities along the coast using Atlantean weaponry and tactics, making it seem like Atlantis was attacking the surface world. As a result of this America declared war on Atlantis destroying any Atlantean vessels they found. As the conflict rose and N.E.M.O. continued at-tacking American soil, the Justice League agreed to help Aquaman by attempting to prove N.E.M.O.'s existence. As the Justice League and Tula (The Regent of Atlantis) headed to the White House with the proof the F.B.I agents found, Arthur travelled to fend off U.S. forces invading Atlantis. Arthur discovered that his adversaries were actually N.E.M.O. and not Americans. He attempted to capture them as proof of N.E.M.O.'s involvement, however their heads exploded from a coral implant in their heads which was triggered by a strong signal.

After learning about the League's failure to negotiate with the President, Arthur consolidated with his council on what to do next but was attacked by a covert group of U.S. soldiers known as Aquamarines, who were biologically engineered to kill the King of Atlantis. Aqua-man survived the assassination attempt and incarcerated the Aquamarines, it was then that Aqua-man realized he could track the signal put off by the coral brain bombs to their source, leading him to the leader of N.E.M.O.. Aqua-man tracked the signal to its source where he discovered that Black Manta was the "Fisher King" who had orchestrated the entire war. After defeating Manta and his N.E.M.O. forces, the Fisher King blew himself and his men up in an attempt to leave no proof of N.E.M.O.'s existence, seemingly killing him and his lieutenant Black Jack. After having a meeting with the President and providing proof of N.E.M.O.'s existence, Aquaman was able to redevelop peaceful relations with the surface world.

After his conflict with N.E.M.O. and Manta, Arthur began a campaign of peace between Atlantis and the Surface World. This was going smoothly until he heard a mind in great pain, and after tracking it to its source at Beckman College, Aquaman found what seemed to be a machine. He was then at-tacked by people the Machine was controlling, and after he managed to defeat them the machine at-tempted to control Arthur. Aqua-man learned that the robot was a man named Siyu who was experimented on to become the cyborg known as Warhead. As Warhead, he was leased to the Kahndaqi military and sent to target rebels. When victory was achieved, the Kahndaqis ordered Warhead to wipe out all the rebels but he re-fused as he saw it as an act of vengeance. The Kandaqi military was not pleased that he didn't follow orders and tried to destroy him. Warhead escaped and traveled across the world, seeking safety. Eventually, he fled to New York to find a secure location to begin re-pairs. Now knowing the truth, Aquaman brought him to Atlantis where he could recover.

After negotiating with Warhead Aquaman was contacted by the Leader of the Aquamarines Major Ricoh of the reemergence of the Dead Water problem. She in-formed him that Scavenger had woken from his coma and told the government the location of the strange water, or 'H2.0' as it was being called. Unfortunately a U.S. base was already set up at the lo-cation and the research team had gone missing. Aquaman agreed to help and he, Mera and the Aqua-marines rendezvoused with Scavenger and the F.B.I. agents Ajar and Irving at the research base. Upon investigation the team dis-covered a device that the re-searchers had been building be-fore they went missing. Suddenly Specialist Ollie was murdered by a new Dead Water.

After fighting off the Dead Water Aquaman and Mortimer began finishing the device, which believed would hurt the new Dead Water. Meanwhile the Aquamarines prepared a mini nuke to blow the sinkhole in case the situation got out of hand. Dead Water reemerged so Aquaman activated the device turning back into a human who was then shot by one of the Aquamarines. After I.D.ing him as one of the researchers Laurence Quinn Aquaman decided to go investigate the sinkhole with Mera. Within the sinkhole Arthur and Mera discovered a portal to another planet, upon entering the planet told Arthur through Marine Telepathy that it was called Tethys. After analyzing water samples from the lagoon the team discovered that the other researchers were in the water shredded.

It turned out that Tethys was trying to make contact but was keeping any non-marine life out as a defense mechanism. It was doing this by generating fear in intruders, if they kept close to the border for too long and got too scared they would transform into a Dead Water. On the surface the Scavenger set the nuke to blow to stop the Dead Waters from coming. However this made Agent Ajar transform into a Dead Water, which in turn made Scavenger transform as well. To stop them from causing the death of everyone Aquaman threw the nuke into the portal severing the connection between Earth and Tethys. This ended the Dead Water problem once and for all as Scavenger and Ajar transformed back.

After the events of H2.O the people of Atlantis became slowly more upset with Arthur's actions. The people set Corum Rath free and he and his followers attacked Aqua-man and Mera. After being broken up by the high council, Arthur dis-cussed the necessity of connecting to the surface world for the Atlantean people. However the council disagreed and had Tula imprisoned while the people decided on Arthur's fate.

After Mera and Tula returned to the lighthouse, Arthur was voted out of the throne by the council and Corum Rath was crowned. Using an Atlantean artifact known as the Crown of Thorns, Rath placed a massive energy shield around Atlantis so that no one could get in or out. Arthur attempted to escape Atlantis so he could formulate a plan, but the authorities caught up with him and he was seemingly killed by Murk.

After being stabbed by Murk under Rath's orders, Arthur somehow survived and began defending people from Rath's regime in the Ninth Tride. During his time in the Tride he met a mutant named Dolphin who helped him escape the local authorities. Dolphin took Arthur to one of the mutant havens in the Ninth Tride where Aquaman listened to their strife. Meanwhile Mera was using all of her hydrokinetic power against the barrier to no avail, and Vulko was plotting a way to break down the barrier and get help after he escaped prison during Corum Rath's release. A mutant crime lord named Krush caught wind of the rumors of Arthur's survival and sent a rogue Magician named Kadaver after the Dead King.

Aquaman and Dolphin fought Kadaver but were eventually over-whelmed and captured. After learning that Krush intended to use Arthur as a power play with the King, Arthur and Dolphin escaped Kadaver and fled the area. At the same time Atlantean warlocks were attempting to arrest Mera and Tempest after she had employed him in helping take down the shield. Also Vulko had gained the alliance of the Widowhood who were trying to break down the Crown from the inside.

While Arthur was deciding his next move, Mera and Tempest fought off the Atlantean warlocks but were quickly overwhelmed by the war-locks' superior power. Tempest managed to grab a pendant from one of the warlocks which allowed the user to travel through the Crown of Thorns - with this pendant Mera was finally able to break into Atlantis. During this time Vulko was able to retrieve the Trident of Neptune which he intended to use against the Crown. When Krush went to meet with Corum Rath and tell him that Aquaman was still alive he was killed by Commander Murk.

Arthur rescued a group of rebels from drift forces who were led to the beastmaster of Atlantis Jurok Byss. Upon rendezvousing with the rebellion, Vulko returned the Tri-dent of Neptune to Arthur who be-came the figurehead of the rebel-lion. Meanwhile, a complication with the pendant made it so Mera couldn't breathe after she passed through the barrier, and she was captured by King Shark who in-tended to become the next big crime boss in Krush's place.

Aquaman and the rebel group- the Undercurrent continued to save people from Rath's rule, as he was now exterminating all life in the lower tides of Atlantis attempting to purge Atlantis of its petty people. Fortunately all the magical energy in the air empowered Arthur and his relic of power making him even more formidable then before. Aquaman and the Undercurrent concluded that to take back Atlantis they would need to bring down the Crown of Thorns so people would join their cause. Arthur and Dolphin travelled to meet with King Shark to negotiate a deal for his support. King Shark attacked Arthur but Aquaman was able to convince him to help the cause. He then noticed that Dolphin had let off her Photokinesis ability so he rushed to help her, Dolphin had discovered Mera with breathing apparatus. After breaking Mera out Arthur followed an Undercurrent member- Ondine to the Tower of the Widowhood. It turned out that Ondine was an agent of the Widowhood who was reporting back to Reverend Mother Cetea.

Cetea told Arthur that they were keeping Mera stable but the magic halting her breathing would kill her in ten hours, and that in order to stop this she would need to be taken to the surface to recuperate. Cetea said that Mera was to be the next Queen of Atlantis as she would be perfect for the role, but first they would need to save her and take down King Rath. With the Undercurrent and King Shark refusing to assault the Crown of Thorns, Aquaman went after the artifact himself. Aquaman ran into heavy resistance from Magister Loke's Silent School who served as the protectorate force to the Crown of Thorns, and were on the verge of being overrun by their magics. King Shark rallied his Ninth Tride gangs and came at the last second to aid the Undercurrent rebels and their leader, causing enough of a distraction for Aquaman to undo the enchantment holding up the Crown, but time was quickly running out for Mera. Aquaman, after being further empowered by the Quindent, managed to escort his wife away from the sea just in time to keep her from drowning. As she awoke he told her that he loved her and always would, just as Tula came up to them by the shore of their lighthouse at Amnesty Bay. His beloved now safe on land, Arthur told his half-sister that he was returning to Atlantis, seeking to dethrone Rath once and for all.

The Justice League were alerted of a unwarranted presence on American soil and went to investigate. They discovered that it was a malfunctioning mech piloted by the Justice League of China and after bringing the mech down the Chinese Superman told the team that he was looking for a Chinese artifact that would imbue him with enough power to take down the embodiment of Yang All-Yang. Superman and Superman travelled to the location while Aqua-man and the other Leaguers clean up from the battle. However this didn't go to plan as All-Yang was able to open a portal to the demi-god dimension causing Asuras to come through and reek havoc. Due to their nature the Asuras couldn't be harmed by anything either League could throw at them. How-ever the Chinese Superman was able to channel the power of both Ying and use it to defeat both All-Yang and the Asuras.

After saving Mera from Rath's regime, Aquaman helped Batman with saving a covert Wayne Enterprises research team from a natural disaster. He asked Batman what he was hiding from him and the League, a question to which he got no answer. A while later Arthur and the rest of the League were forced to fight in an arena for their lives by Mongul while wearing suits of armor fitted to greatly weaken each member of the League, how-ever this was not enough for them to lose the fight as they were able to defeat Mongul and get back to Earth. Upon return Arthur and the rest of the League travelled to Gotham where according to Alfred Pennyworth a giant mountain had uprooted.

After investigating the mountain Arthur and the League were greeted by the Blackhawk Squadron, a covert team created to deal with apocalyptic events. After travelling to Blackhawk Island, Lady Black-hawk (the leader of the team) explained that the island was once home to Carter Hall, a detective who was stabbed by a special dagger which made him and Lady Blackhawk immortal, who had been looking to discover the location of the impossible metal's (known as Nth Metal) origin. She said that during this investigation Carter Hall and his associates had discovered the existence of a Dark Multiverse much vaster then the Multiverse which housed an evil entity known only as Barbatos - it was at that point when Carter Hall disappeared. Learning that Bat-man would be the portal that would let the evil into the Multiverse, Aquaman and the over Leaguers tried to restrain Batman but Red Tornado interfered allowing him to escape. After failing to capture him a second time Batman accidentally opened the gateway to the Dark Multiverse allowing Barbatos and his "evil Batmen" to come through.

Days later Amnesty Bay came un-der attack by a mysterious figure who could command the sea. When Aquaman and Mera came to defend the town they came into direct contact with the strange woman. This being turned out to be an evil Batman from the Dark Multiverse calling herself the Drowned who intended to transform Amnesty Bay into the Gotham she lost. Mera and Aquaman attacked the Drowned but soon discovered she was superior to them in every way, using her strange abilities to dampen Mera's Hydrokinesis and summon an army of Dead Water's from her world which began to swarm Arthur and Mera. The Drowned then proceeded to infect Mera, turning her into a monstrous minion who began to attack Arthur. Just before the Drowned could kill Arthur he was teleported away by Doctor Fate and brought to the Oblivion Bar where remaining he-roes like the Flash and Green Lan-tern were taking refuge after they had been assaulted by evil versions of themselves.

Aquaman was then informed that an army of Demons led by Barba-tos and his Dark Knights has invaded and that the Knights were probably looking for the Bar. Soon after this Superman and Wonder Woman arrived at the bar and the remaining heroes devised a plan in which Green Arrow said that only items made of Nth Metal could harm the creatures of the Dark Multiverse. The heroes then fled from the bar as the Dark Knights arrived, with Nightmaster sacrificing himself so everyone could escape. After this Aquaman and Deathstroke were tasked with finding a piece of Nth Metal in the Marianas Trench.

While searching for the Nth Metal, Cyborg attempted to create a link between the search teams for better coordination, however Aqua-man was suddenly whisked through a portal to a nightmarish Batcave where the Drowned resided. After a brief struggle with the Drowned and the Dead Water-infected Mera, Arthur was captured and taken to the Cosmic Tuning Fork where the other members of the League had also been captured by their respective Nightmare Batmen. Barbatos intended to hook the League up to the Tuning fork which would provide enough energy to open a portal that would allow the full might of the Dark Multi-verse to come forth. However after tapping into the full power of his Mother Box, Cyborg was able to break free the Justice League, the Resistance, and Raven, leaving the Teen Titans and Task Force X be-hind. From this Aquaman and Deathstroke continued their search. They traveled to the tomb of one of Atlantis' first Kings Arion in search of Nth Metal. There, he and Deathstroke were attacked by Black Manta who revealed he had allied with the Dark Knights. After a short amount of time Arthur and Deathstroke were defeated and captured by the Knights alongside other members of the resistance. At this point Barbatos was able to successfully drag the Multiverse down into the Dark Multiverse.

Shortly afterwards Arthur and the others broke free and began fighting back Barbatos' minions. They then began clearing a path for Wonder Woman to make her way up the mountain and kill Barbatos with Hawkman's Mace. To-wards the end of the fight the Flash arrived with Batmen from around the Multiverse to face down Barbatos. At this point Wonder Woman, Batman and Superman emerged from the Forge of Existence with Tenth Metal. The trio then gave Tenth Metal to Arthur and Green Lantern while Doctor Fate freed the remaining heroes. Hawkman as the new guardian of the Forge battled Barbatos as the team defeated the Dark Knights, with Arthur killing the Drowned. The group came together and connected every mind in the Multiverse with their new powers. With the substantial might gained, the League dragged the Multiverse free of the Darkness and banished Barbatos to the Forge.

After the invasion the team gathered at Wayne Manor for a party where they discussed visions they had experienced while wearing the Tenth Metal, including visions of Atlantis rising once again. They also exchanged troubling words about the state their universe was in as the Source Wall had been broken during the conflict.

As the rebellion got underway, Aquaman was joined by Byss, King Shark and the Undercurrent movement in battling a contingent of the usurper king's Drift squadrons who were sent to purge the Ninth Tride. Aquaman soon lent his assistance when the necrotized Kadaver, who had been corrupted by the Abyssal Dark, similarly cursed the soldiers of the Drift, turning them into undead sea warriors. Arthur soon found himself assaulted by his former comrade Murk, whom sent the accursed Drift after what remained of the rebel movement.

The two got into a heated argu-ment about the current state of affairs, with Murk arguing that eve-rything in Atlantis had fallen apart because of Arthur's weak rule. While admitting he hated the way his former king ran the kingdom, Murk confessed that he purposely missed Arthur's vitals when he seemingly betrayed and killed him at Rath's ascent to the throne. He had hoped he would simply disap-pear and appease the corrupt council who had elected Atlantis' new king.

Instead of murdering his would be assailant, Aquaman chose to lend a helping hand; requesting his former confidant's aid in over-throwing Rath and his regime by using Murk's status as King's Guard Commander to sneak him into the palace as a prisoner of war. As Murk went off to assassinate the king, Arthur ran into Rath's right-hand Urcell fleeing the royal chamber having survived the vicious onslaught of the now hideously monstrous King Rath, who had been transformed by the power of the Abyssal Dark and slaughtered the council for their attempt to dethrone him. Rushing in at the last second, Aquaman saved Murk by engaging with the corrupted Rath. Aquaman was quickly overpowered by the abomination standing before him, even with his magical augmentations.

Murk soon aided Arthur but was grievously wounded in his attempt to save the former king's life. Seeing his ally's poor state of being, Arthur temporarily stunned the behemoth in order to escape with the wounded Murk. Back at the Widowhood's base of operations, Arthur was further chastised by the Reverend Mother Cetea for failing to take advantage of his weakened adversary's state and end Rath for good. Arthur argued that all of the magic in his ceremonial weapon still wasn't enough to deal with the Abyssal Dark-powered Rath, and lost hope in stopping him. Vulko and the rest of the Undercurrent returned to the fold having been backed by the spirits of former Atlantean elders and bringing the corrupted remains of Kadaver along with them.

Elder Null disclosed the full history of the power behind Corum Rath, and informed Aquaman and his allies that the Abyssal Dark entity was a negative byproduct of the Silent School's magical practice from the early days of Atlantis - a demon either born from or drawn by the first mystics of the lost continent, which sought to plague man-kind and the world. Having sealed it away after a ferocious mystic war, it sent out a sirens call to those susceptible to its influence for centuries, eventually finding the Atlanteans' new monarch to be the perfect recipient.

Just as the past elders endowed Aquaman's trident with the remnants of their own protective magics, Rath started laying siege to the Tower of The Widowhood, as it was the foundation of the under-sea capital. Knowing that if it were to fall all of Atlantis would crumble and die, Arthur moved out against his rival throne bearer. He was emboldened by the various enchantments bestowed upon his trident, but to no avail - the grotesque King Corum snapped Aquaman's ancestral keepsake like a twig. Having been cast aside by Rath, Arthur was soon met by Dolphin who had also been wounded by Rath when she tried to assist Arthur. Arthur apologized to Dolphin for failing to be the hero she wished him to be.

The fallen hero's hope was revitalized seeing Mera come into the fray backed by a Xebelian armada. Watching both his beloved and all of his friends fight side by side against Rath spurred Aquaman to stand back up and get into the fight. Arthur urged Dolphin to find cover and rescue everyone she could, before leaping into battle and plunging what was left of his broken trident right into the eye of Rath, driving the Abyssal Dark out of the tyrant monarch and leaving him more fish than man. As the Abyssal Dark died, it told Arthur that it was its magical influence that kept a tragedy from taking place.

As Mera closed in for the killing blow, Arthur instead used his marine telepathy to command Rath away into a deep crevice some-where. Mera questioned what the Abyssal Dark had meant when it delivered its final words, and Arthur and Mera were soon jilted by violent earthquakes that had begun taking place just as everything began to calm down. Aquaman soon remembered back to when he and the Justice League fought back Barbatos and his Dark Knights. In saving the Multiverse using the Tenth Metal, Arthur subconsciously wished he could have a place to call home, one that was both of the land and of the sea much like him-self. The reality-warping power of the Tenth Metal had caused his dream to become a reality, and Atlantis had risen from the depths to the surface.

Arthur waited down in the lower trides even after the continent's upheaval, not wanting to interfere with Mera's coronation as Atlantis' new queen. Arthur was approached by Vulko and revealed part of the reason he was staying out of the limelight was in anticipation for when the leaders of the land inevitably attempt a stealth attack to undermine the new queen and her country. This prediction was ultimately proven true when a surviving member of Rath's inner circle, Urcell, acted as a contact to Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad in a joint effort to depose Queen Mera and return Atlantis back to the ocean floor. Arthur became aware of these happenings through Murk; who still blamed him for raising their city, despite Arthur rebuffing the guard captain for aiding and abetting a madman who nearly destroyed it.

Despite their differences, Arthur implored Murk to keep him posted on the situation, but also to refrain from informing Mera about the incursion by the Suicide Squad in their midst. When the Queen of Atlantis eventually became aware of said events, she was furious that he had tried to sideline her in the situation, but they soon came to an agreement and moved on in finding their insurgents.

Aquaman and Mera were informed about the magically-augmented mini-nuke in the hands of Squad member, Lord Satanis. Though initially hesitant to his idea of calling up assistance from criminals in the Ninth Tride, Mera demanded her betrothed to gather an army of expendables and malcontents to address the situation, forming their own 'Suicide Squad' to confront the American black ops team. Arthur went to King Shark and his gang, and the crime boss was naturally antagonistic towards his former ally. However, when Aquaman mentioned Waller and her Suicide Squad's involvement, he willingly aided the former monarch in preempting their plans, knowing full well what his former employer and her task force was capable of.

Aquaman and his newfound allies were waysided by Satanis as his magical powers were jumped up to extraordinary levels by the magical power held within the Silent School. To cover his tracks as he attempted to finish the mission, the evil conjurer threw up a barrier that neither Arthur nor his own strike team could surpass. Unbeknownst to Satanis, Dolphin was on the other side of the barrier. The former monarch begged Dolphin not to engage Satanis and to let him take him on alone, but she gave him a tearful goodbye much to his heart-break.

Aquaman and his team were able to penetrate the magical barrier thanks to Master Jailer's efforts. Aquaman managed to subdue Satanis before he could murder Dolphin, but with no real means of stopping the nuke, Carl sacrificed his life using one of the Core Vault's artifacts to seal its explosion. The team was able to avoid a calamity and thanks to Harley Quinn, Queen Mera was able to secure evidence of the real culprit behind the day's events.

After witnessing their fight against the Legion of Doom for the Totality, both Aquaman and Wonder Woman predicted that Cheetah and Black Manta would soon make their move against them, which started with the mysterious death of Poseidon. Seeking to find truth from the dead Olympian himself, the two heroes decide to take on a mission: finding the legendary key for the Graveyard of Gods, which could be inside an ancient ship in Antartica. While out for the mission, Diana retrieved the key, but then both her and Arthur were hit by a mysterious force, dragged away from the place.

Arthur found himself in the Blood Reef, the headquarters of three alien gods of the ocean, the Triumvirate of Sea Gods, who out of revenge against Poseidon decided to use their powers to drown the Earth. But as part of their agreement with the Legion of Doom, in exchange of Poseidon's death, they would give Aquaman to his worst enemy: Black Manta. Not only that, but one of the gods, Tyyde, used her powers to strip from Arthur his connection with the Life Force, donating it to Manta instead. Now with the full power of his nemesis in his hands, Manta felt unbeatable, and condemned Arthur into being sent inside a cosmic whirlpool, facing imminent death.

Thrown into the whirlpool, Arthur was saved by Wonder Woman, who found a way to access the Graveyard of Gods thanks to the key she retrieved in Antarctica. Once there, they found Poseidon waiting for both: the Olympian, without apparent reason, decided then to attack Arthur, piercing him with his trident. Aquaman then found himself inside a legendary place, the Dead Sea, where it was told all great mariners went once dead. In there, he went through an odyssey, retracing his whole life, which made him realize he still held in his heart the memory of his father, something he had to let go to fully embrace his destiny. Com-ing back to his senses, Poseidon revealed that what Arthur just experienced was a test, to see if he was worthy of knowing the true history of Arion.

Poseidon then proceeded to tell him how Arion was tricked by the Olympian himself into killing the Triumvirate of Sea Gods, who were never invaders in the first place, just because Poseidon never wanted to share the Life Force with other beings: this gave birth to the terrible Tear of Extinction, a weapon able to void the Life Force. So both the attack by the Triumvirate which drowned the Earth, and Atlantis' own history of reclusion were consequences of Poseidon's selfishness. Poseidon felt guilty about what he did, but now the Tear seemed to be once again the only weapon they could use to turn the tides, and defeat the three sea gods once again. Poseidon told then that the Tear was still hidden inside the bones of old king Arion: Arthur should go and retrieve it, soaking in it Poseidon's trident and using it to kill the enemy.

As the Graveyard of Gods was falling apart, due to the actions of Cheetah and the Legion of Doom, Poseidon used the last of his power to let Aquaman and Wonder Woman escape. Getting back to Earth, Arthur told Diana he believed using the Tear once again would be a mistake, and that they should approach their enemy with another weapon: the truth Posei-don revealed the about Arion. Get-ting to the Tomb of Arion, they were able to save Mera, Superman and Flash from transforming into sea monsters, also informing them about what they lived through. Giving to all of them protections against the magic of the Sea Gods, Aquaman explained Mera his plan to stop the drowning: find a way to convince the Triumvirate to side with Life again.

Aquaman discovered the true story of Arion, and thought he could have a chance for parley. Mera did not agree with Arthur's approach, but gave him the benefit of the doubt. Soon after, they discovered Manta convinced the gods to launch the Death Kraken against Earth, as they feared to be struck again by the Tear of Extinction. After freeing Mera from the Tear, which was making her cruel, Aquaman and Mera were both able to convince the Triumvirate to side with them, but Manta, full of blood-lust, killed two of the gods and tried to take over the Death Kraken. After Tyyde gave to Arthur his powers back, Aquaman defeated Manta, who then realized the Kraken was going berserk, with no one able to control him outside of the dead god Drogue. To avoid the death of all life on the planet, Arthur sacrificed himself, hitting the Kraken with all his remaining Life Force.

Finding himself transported at the edge of the Multiverse after his fight against the Death Kraken, Aquaman found there the Anti-Monitor, who revealed to him the true nature of Perpetua. He was then sent on a mission from the Anti-Monitor to help Flash and John Stewart find a shard of the Totality in the past, in 1941. Aqua-man found his teammates, and guided them to Atlantis, where, after convincing Vandal Savage, he was able to use the Conch of Arion to send the Totality shard through Hypertime, so that it would reach the present, and being used as a weapon to counter Perpetua. In the end, the plan failed, giving the forces of Doom, commanded by Lex Luthor, the chance to attack the Hall of Justice.

In the final conflict between Justice and Doom, Arthur was able to fully control the Life Force thanks to the Justice Totality, and participated to the final battle against Luthor. In the end, Perpetua won, and the Multiverse was put under the control of Doom. Arthur, together with the other core members of the League, was saved by the Quintessence, then embarking on a last ride to gather the Anti-Crisis energy to face Perpetua. In the end, the League failed again, and once back to Earth, they found it trans-formed into the Batman who Laughs' Metalverse, as he was now the new right hand of the evil goddess.

After the Anti-Monitor sent him back to Earth, Arthur would first meet back up with his beloved Mera without the knowledge of the world at large. He would soon be-come fearful of the news she'd imparted to him about her maternity and opted to leave shortly after hearing it. Upon his refusal to heed her command in staying however, the Atlantean Queen outright murders him in a fit of rage. Jettisoning her love into the afterlife once again.

Found adrift upon another shore. Arthur; now going by the name Arusio, was welcomed to the re-mote island home of a gaggle of lost denizens located out in the middle of nowhere called Unspoken Water.

They would all trade stories about who they were and what life was like before coming to live there from time to time. Something which was difficult for Arusio due to having lost his memories from his transition to the Sphere of Gods. One night while Caille; the young maiden who found him and nursed him back to full health, was doing ceremonial dance to appease an angry ocean. She was almost swept up by the tide, Arusio moved in order to save her and the waters parted around the two of them in front of everyone who was present.

As Arthur/Arusio started to become restless in his lazy days, he would come to Wee for advice despite earlier friction between the two of them.

He would inquire as to just who and what he is to them, but Wee simply danced around the question rather than provide a straight answer, the old matron not really knowing the answer either. Time would come amongst the islander community to share their true names and greater history. When the time came for their newest ten-ant to take a turn, the fire they sat around exploded in a bright green flare.

Shortly afterward, Tang, Mann and Agwé come for Arthur and plunge him into the sea surrounding Un-spoken Water. As he washed back up on the shore, Caille would approach Arthur with the intent of visiting her mother. Against better judgement of course.

Arthur would head out to the private Isle of the Goddess Namma for the sake of appeasing Callie's mother. Having survived their boat capsizing while making it to the island they'd been looking for, Arusio's companion began to undergo a transformation into the final remnant of it's matriarch's form. A battle would commence as Andy attempted to try and reason with the human heart buried within the monster. When Namma appeared, Arusio curtsied to the goddess in his midst. Answering her questions as best he could while presenting her daughter to her. But the primordial laughed at such a notion, coldly stating that Caille was no kin of hers, but was little less than a living shell through which the manifest of the Goddess's missing power could grow and mature in.

When it was revealed that Nam-ma's reacquiring of the Callieach's life force would inevitably result in the former hosts demise. Arthur struck the irate divinity to prevent Callie's secession of existence. Namma would retaliate, admonishing Arthur for daring to defy her, but the amnesiac adventurer reject her claims to divinity & entitlement.

With coaxing from Arusio while holding off her malevolent sire, Caille would instead assume control of the beast within. Becoming a hybrid divine monster in and of herself, stemming the control over which Namma possessed for a while longer. Deciding to change tactics Namma reduced herself to salt particles at the exact moment Andy struck her and fled to the oceans embrace. Sensing that things were far from over, Arthur implored Caille to remain vigilant as he knew their adversary would return. Sure enough, the tyrannical supremacy would rise from the sea as a draconian monster whom would assail the duo while poisoning the worlds waters with a lethal influx of brine. The two would battle the monstrous Namma as she tried to coerce her beastly offspring to return to her embrace; instead Caille, now fused to the Callieach, wounded her dracolitch sire. Distracting her mother goddess long enough for Andy to hop a ride on the beastly serpentine entity.

This plan would backfire however, as Namma would drag her would-be pursuer into the salted oceans causing him endless discomfort due to it's tainted hydration. In a desperate plea for help Arusio projected a telepathic call to all denizens of the deep. One so powerful that it even reached all the way to Prime Earth from the Sphere of Gods and back. It wasn't long after sending out the call did Arthur get the most unexpected of responses, the denizens of Unspoken Water had come to aid Arthur in his time of need. Having reverted to their prior godly forms thanks to his unique abilities.

After the Sea Gods of the World make their presence known, Namma too reveals her godly identity as Mother Salt. The fear-less marine hero would do what he could to preempt the genocidal ancient divinity from carrying out her plans with help from his divine allies.

But he quickly finds himself to be out of his depth while learning from her progeny that their ancestors, her children, murdered Salt's husband after she'd told them of his infanticidal plans. Now she has returned with intent of murdering the world and everything living on it that spawned them as retribution for the loss of her beloved. Andy is dismayed to find the sea gods opting to surrender themselves willingly to the the venomous adept after stating doing so would bring about the end of all life on Earth as they know it. Arthur watches helplessly as Wee gives herself to the leviathan that has become of their matriarch, and tries fruitlessly to dissuade the others from doing the same to no avail. Realizing their sacrifice did nothing to assuage their murderous kin's entropic goals, Arthur moves to confront the complete Mother Salt in a final stand. Until the now deified Caille suggests he use his connection to the sea for contacting those whom are lost to Namma. Reasoning that it was his power that enabled them to resume their divine forms once before and perhaps it can do so again, but only if he concentrates on a singular focus while they are apart of their grand sire's being.

Taking her advice to heart, the champion of the deep uses his connection to the Life Force to reach out for his lost brother Tang. An extraneous process that yields results, as the vast resurgence within the mother goddesses being causes a massive explosive re-lease of power. Dispersing Mother Salt/Namma's form back into it's composite sodium particles and restoring the Sea Gods back to their original selves again.

But Arthur was far from finished as he remembers how easily their adversary reformed herself from such a state the last time. To make sure her plans for omnicide were stalled, if only for a short while longer, he continued to compel local depth dwellers to heed his command and scatter her sifting being throughout the ocean floor. The stress of all such monumental tasking however, left Arusio drained to the point of conscious-ness deficiency. As he began sinking into the ocean depths, Caille moved to drag him back to the sur-face. But she was soon waylaid in the task by the most unexpected of individuals to show up; Father Sea. Back in the open air, Andy would regain his senses and walk upright towards the land with all the gods and his good friend Caille beside him and the ancient ocean embodiment.

While the lost deities bow in reverence to their grandfather, Arthur and Sea meet each other eye to eye for a second before the latter heads back into the ocean.

In thanks to the oceans chosen savior with helping them stem the tide Tang the Vast would gift their nameless savior with body art to commemorate his commitment in defending the oceans majesty. They would also gift the wayward traveler knowledge of whom he really was as agreed upon after completing such a monumental achievement. Wee would secretly tell him however that what he was, is, and always will be was a hero and a friend; both to the hallowed forgotten and the sea.

Repun soon redirects their attentions back to the oceans, as Father Sea returns with Arusio's lost Trident.

When Mother Shark restores Arthur Curry's memories, it is revealed that Arthur actually survived the alien invasion and returned to Mera. However, they kept it a secret from the rest of Atlantis. Mera stops them from being romantic to talk about the politics of Atlantis and how the Widowhood wants her to marry. Arthur confesses his love for Mera once again, again proposing they get married, but Mera is hesitant with all the drama they've endured. However, she then reveals she's pregnant.

Arthur affirms that he loves both Mera and their unborn child but, afraid that he won't be able to give his child the life it deserves, asks to go home and think. Mera, unhappy that she and her love don't seem to be on the same page, loses control, "kills" Arthur, and is later found by the Widowhood and Atlantean guards.

As Mera's pregnancy progressed, Arthur returned to life and Amnesty Bay, however, he did not go to Mera nor she to him. Arthur's nemesis Black Manta destroyed an ancient Atlantean historical site to draw Mera to the surface, where she and Aquaman met and wordlessly reconciled. Manta attacked the pair with Mecha Manta, provided by Lex Luthor. Mera destroyed Mecha Manta but the huge amounts of hydrokinetic power she was forced to use put her in a coma, she was rushed to an Atlantean hospital and gave birth shortly afterwards to a baby girl, who was named Andy. Arthur was present for his daughter's birth, and fell in love with her instantly, losing all of his trepidation about becoming a father or the kind of life they could have together. Andy spent the first ten months of her life being raised in Amnesty Bay by her father and his extended group of friends and allies. She and Arthur would regularly sneak into Atlantis to visit the still-comatose Mera in secret.

Mera reawakens after 10 months in a coma. With the ruse of a fake wedding to Vulko she calls to Atlantis the leaders of the 7 underwater kingdoms. Prior to the wedding, she has the entire widowhood arrested. Once all 7 kingdoms are assembled, to their surprise, Mera announces that she was dissolving the Atlantean monarchy and that she intended to hand power to the people. Orm attempts to take power for himself, however, Orm and his forces are stopped by Aquaman, assisted by the Justice league and the Sea gods.

Following this Arthur and Mera settle down in Amnesty Bay with their daughter Andy. Soon after-wards Mera and Arthur marry in the presence of their family and friends, in what was originally planned as a surprise welcome back party for her by Arthur.

Following the abolition of the monarchy, Arthur and Mera intended to hold themselves apart from Atlantis to allow the city to govern itself, but they were forced to intervene when the Frost King's forces at-tacked the city during what was intended to be their honeymoon. The pair with Andy in tow, go to Atlantis and discuss with the Atlantean ruling council with is to be done to save the city. Arthur journeyed into the city's heating vents to meet with the Fire Tolls who lived in the tunnels below Atlantis, hoping they could be an ally against the Frost King. Originally Mera agreed to stay behind to guard Andy but quickly followed him, arriving in time to save Arthur from a Fire Troll with a hydrokinetic attack. The Trolls were in awe of this and swore loyalty to her. With her army of Fire Trolls, Mera and Arthur defeated the ice creatures attacking Atlantis.

A ramshackle ship of refugees from Warworld fled to Earth, pursued by alien fighter craft called Warzoons. Superman and Superboy rescued the refugees and destroyed some of the Warzoons, while the others fled. The Atlantean army captured and imprisoned the crews of the Warzoons and took custody of the refugee ship, which was powered by a mysterious piece of rock, known as the Gene-sis Fragment. Although Arthur was no longer king he was able to convince the Atlantean authorities to allow Superman to inspect the wreckage and try to interrogate the prisoners, although they did so only out of respect to Arthur and refused to let Superman take the power source or inform the surface governments that they had it.

Maric, the Atlantean scientist as-signed to study the power source, mutated into a gigantic monster and attacked the Florida coastline alongside strange sea creatures which were immune to Arthur’s telepathy. Arthur and some Atlantean soldiers tried to fight off the monsters but were overwhelmed, so he called the Justice League for help. Superman was able to freeze the giant from inside and the Atlanteans drove the other creatures back.

However, victory was short lived as Steve Trevor arrived and demand-ed that Atlantis hand the fragment over the the US Government. Arthur refused, telling Trevor that any attempt to take the fragment would be viewed as an act of war. A pair of Task Force X agents working for Amanda Waller snuck into the crashed ship and attempted to steal the Genesis Fragment, but were caught by the Atlantean army. In response, the Atlanteans blockaded all shipping lanes across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Justice League met to try to find a solution, but were unable to come to an agreement. Both Arthur and Batman were uncharacteristically belligerent and began arguing almost immediately, each taking the sides of their respective countries. Batman demanded that Arthur convince the Atlanteans to give up the Fragment, and Arthur replied that he could and would not do so. Arthur almost stormed out of the meeting when Batman accused Atlantis of starting an arms race, but Superman shut their fight down, saying he would not allow a war between Atlantis and the surface.

Arthur believed that Batman may attempt to take the Fragment and stood guard over the crashed Warzoon. Meanwhile the United States Navy sent a battleship to break the Atlantean blockade and despite Superman’s attempts to negotiate a peaceful solution the two sides fired on each other. Superman decided that the only way to prevent them going to war over the Fragment would be to take it beyond both their reach and dove down to the Warzoon where Arthur confronted him. He admitted that he could not stop Superman but warned him that it would change things between them. Despite this, Superman took the Fragment.

HISTORY
Erik Josten was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of Jonathan and Martha Josten. He was one brother from a large mid-western farming family which included Carl and Conrad. Erik's sister Lindy died in an accident and Erik blamed himself, thinking he could have prevented her death. Wracked with guilt, Josten ran away to join the US Army. When he was later discovered smuggling, Josten ran away from the army to become a soldier-for-hire.

He was hired by Nazi scientist Baron Heinrich Zemo to smuggle stolen technology into Zemo's secret South American stronghold. With this equipment, Zemo built a machine that could project an unknown form of mutagenic radiation ("ionic rays") capable of bestowing superhuman physical powers to a subject. Zemo's first subject was industrialist Simon Williams, who became known as Wonder Man.[4] When Zemo fled his South American base shortly thereafter, he left his "ionic ray" machine functional. Josten, who had been wounded by South American authorities in his latest smuggling venture, sought refuge in Zemo's now abandoned fortress and learned of Zemo's machine. There, Josten came to the mystical attention of the Enchantress, the Asgardian goddess who had been a former ally of Zemo. The Enchantress offered Josten the chance to submit to "ionic ray" treatment and he readily accepted. When the radiation treatment was through, Josten emerged with physical powers roughly equivalent to those of Wonder Man. The Enchantress produced a costume for him and dubbed him Power Man. Traveling to the United States, Power Man assisted the Enchantress in her scheme to discredit and defeat the Avengers. When that plot failed and the Enchantress disappeared, the love-smitten Power Man surrendered to the Avengers. The Avengers refused to press charges, however, and Power Man was released.
Power Man soon met and allied himself with the criminal Swordsman and the Russian spy, the Black Widow, who at the time had been brainwashed by the Red Chinese. In battle with the Avengers, Power Man and the Swordsman were defeated but not taken into custody. Shortly thereafter, there were pitted unsuccessfully against Captain America by the Red Skull. The Skull returned the two to where he found them and shortly afterwards the two partners were summoned by the Mandarin to aid him in his scheme of world conquest. Defeated by the Avengers in South America, Power Man and the Swordsman managed to escape while extradited back to the United States.

Later the two were contacted by the criminal Grim Reaper and invited to join his Lethal Legion for the express purpose of exacting revenge upon the Avengers. Although the Legion managed to capture most of the active Avengers, Power Man was defeated by the Vision. Vision donned Power Man's costume and infiltrated the Legion headquarters to rescue his comrades. The Avengers escaped and subdued their captors. This time the Avengers pressed charges and Power Man and most of his teammates were tried and imprisoned.

When Josten was released, he learned that the name "Power Man" had been assumed by the hero-for-hire Luke Cage. Battling Cage for the right to the name, Josten lost[9]. Inexplicably, the strength conferred upon him by Zemo's machine was on the wane. Disheartened by the defeat, Josten shelved his costume and took a job as a dockworker in order to renew contact in the smuggling profession. Count Nefaria, who offered him a chance to regain his former strength in exchange for special services, then sought him out. Josten performed Nefaria's errands and was subjected to a strength enhancing treatment. However, the bargain was all a scheme by Nefaria to steal the power of Josten and his other henchmen for himself. Josten managed to escape while the Avengers battled Nefaria.[10] He returned to the docks where under the name the Smuggler he set up a successful smuggling operation for black market goods. Spider-Man stumbled upon Josten's business, however, and with Josten's strength now a fraction of what it had once been, Spider-Man managed to defeat him in combat.

When he was finally set free, Josten left the East Coast and headed toward California. While in prison, Josten had heard of a criminal scientist in Los Angeles who specialized in the study of superhuman powers, Dr. Karl Malus. Arranging a meeting with Malus, Josten again made a bargain to renew his lost strength. Unlike Nefaria, how ever, Malus did not renege on the deal and not only enhanced Josten's strength to its original level but also subjected him to an extract of extract of the growth formula created by Dr. Henry Pym, the original Giant-Man (as well as the original Ant-Man, Goliath, and Yellowjacket). Malus acquired it from a patient of his who had stolen it from Pym's one-time partner Dr. Bill Foster (also known as Black Goliath and the second Giant-Man). The Pym Formula reacted with the strength-enhancing treatment to give Josten far more physical power than he had ever known. Josten decided to take the Goliath, deriving satisfaction from stealing a hero's name even as a hero once stole his. Exhilarated by his new-found power. Goliath rampaged throughout Los Angeles in a bid to make his might known to the world. He was challenged by a contingent of West Coast Avengers (including Wonder Man, whose power he once imitated, and Hawkeye, who had also used Pym's growth formula under the name of Goliath), who barely managed to subdue him by making him overextend his powers. Goliath was held in a special laboratory beneath the Avengers Compound in Los Angeles.

Allies of the Grim Reaper later freed Goliath. Goliath joined the Reaper in his battle against the West Coast Avengers, the Vision, and the Scarlet Witch. But after the Reaper and his allies were defeated, Goliath was returned to captivity. Josten became something of a stalker of Wonder Man, who he thought got the better deal in the ionic process. He was defeated by Wonder Man in Los Angeles. Later, Goliath attacked Hawkeye when Barton went back to his growing identity as Goliath II, once again challenging a hero for his name. He was beaten by Barton and Mockingbird.

Josten was abducted by aliens of the extra-dimensional Kosmos, from which stemmed the source of his size-changing powers. He was tortured there for an undefined period before being rescued by Baron Zemo, who was building another Masters of Evil. With the help of Zemo's associate, the Fixer, Josten's body was purged of the Pym Particles, which had reacted negatively with his ionically-charged body to produce a mental strain. This caused Josten's powers to stem from his ionic treatments alone.

In gratitude, Josten offered Zemo his undying loyalty, and assumed the identity of Atlas when Zemo created the Thunderbolts, masquerading as heroes in order to carry out Zemo's plans of world domination. During his time as a Thunderbolt, Josten had developed a relationship with the mayoral assistant Dallas Riordan, but when Zemo's true plans were revealed, Riordan rejected Josten. Against his loyalties, Josten ultimately betrayed Zemo with the other Thunderbolts and saved the world. Josten and other members decided they preferred fighting for justice, and the T-Bolts set out to make their way as a legitimate super-team.

Later, however, he was kidnapped and controlled by Count Nefaria, who had found that he could mentally dominate people such as Josten who were powered by ionic energy. Wholly transformed into a being of ionic energy by Nefaria, Josten fought the Avengers and the Thunderbolts before the two teams united to defeat Nefaria. Josten's body was unaccustomed to the stresses that were unleashed by Nefaria's manipulation and was forced to be hospitalized. Josten then became the target of the latest Scourge (a.k.a. Nomad) who was hunting down and killing various members of the Thunderbolts. Josten was forced to fight Scourge, but his powers over-extended, threatening to destroy the immediate area. Scourge helped confine Josten with the help of size-altering Pym Particles, but Josten seemingly perished in the explosion.

However, since Josten was by this time a being comprised of ionic energy, he in fact did not die. His ionic essence was able to seek out Dallas Riordan, contacting her through their mutual love. With Riordan's help, Josten could suffuse her being with his energy, allowing Josten to share her body. When Josten is in control of her body, Riordan appears as a fully-charged ionic being.

Josten was thus able to return to the Thunderbolts in their latest attempt to stop the villain Graviton, a battle which sparked an alien invasion. Ultimately, Josten/Riordan and the rest of the Thunderbolts were shunted by Graviton to the world of Counter-Earth after he closed the aliens' dimensional portal. After initially embarking on a plan to return to their native Earth, the Thunderbolts agreed to try to use their powers to help save the people of the war-torn and catastrophic world.

On Counter-Earth, the Thunderbolts were once again led by Baron Zemo, and they eventually encountered a spacecraft whose engines emitted a radiation that began eating the earth from the inside. The Thunderbolts embarked on a plan to combine their powers to punt the alien ship off Counter-Earth and sever its link between the real Earth. However, in order to complete this plan, the Thunderbolts needed to be inside the engine-spawned void and consume the ionic energies of Josten. In so doing, they reemerged from the void on the real Earth, forfeiting their roles and place on Counter-Earth. Moreover, Josten's energies seemed spent, and he bodily separated from Riordan, existing as separate beings. Josten's powers seemed lost completely, although Riordan's nervous system was repaired, allowing her to walk again and granting her superhuman abilities.

Immediately upon exiting the void, the Thunderbolts confronted their former teammates Hawkeye and Songbird, who had formed another version of the Thunderbolts on Earth and were also trying to plug the real Earth's counterpart to Counter-Earth's spacecraft. The two teams of Thunderbolts combined forces to plug the void and shunt the alien ship from Earth. Josten was later accosted by the Thunderbolts' Fixer, who had broken into a weapons cache in Iraq and had found canisters of Pym particles. Being shot with an infusion of the particles, Josten found his size-altering powers renewed.

Josten hesitantly followed Zemo in the Thunderbolts’ many acts of questionable heroism, where the ends justified the means. Zemo’s ultimate plan involved the creation of “the Liberator", a device that would drain abnormal uses energy throughout the world. The Thunderbolts hoped this would enable them to reduce global threats, eliminate superhuman terrorism, and stabilize the world’s status-quo. They were betrayed by Moonstone, however, who absorbed the powers that the Liberator had harnessed. Her emotional state combined with her near-cosmic power began to threaten the entire planet, and the Thunderbolts and the Avengers teamed up to defeat Moonstone. Afterward, the members of the Thunderbolts then agreed to go their separate ways, and Josten agreed to have the Pym particles purged from his system, returning him to normal.

Later, when the Avengers formally disbanded, MACH-3 decided to re-form the Thunderbolts. He recruited Josten as a support member, even though his powers seemed to be gone. The team made their debut by saving Manhattan from the terrorist attacks of renegade Atlanteans, and during the battle Josten found his size-altering powers had returned.

When Zemo attempted to take control of the Wellspring of Power, Josten, now going by the name Atlas, fell into a coma while stopping up the energies from spreading on Earth.

Atlas eventually recovered from his coma and temporarily joined the Defenders.

Atlas later joined up with Wonder Man's Revengers. Atlas' reason for joining the group was that he was rejected many times to join the Initiative.

At some point, Atlas was captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. and incarcerated at Pleasant Hill. S.H.I.E.L.D. used the Kobik project on Atlas which turned him into an unnamed Pleasant Hill mailman.

Following the Pleasant Hill incident, Atlas joined up with Winter Soldier's incarnation of the Thunderbolts with the goal to prevent S.H.I.E.L.D. from continuing the Kobik project.

Atlas was later approached by Baron Zemo and his third incarnation of the Masters of Evil in order to recruit him. When he resisted, the Masters of Evil attacked him as Jolt showed up to help him. During the fight against the Masters of Evil, Atlas and the Thunderbolts were defeated and captured.

During the "Opening Salvo", Atlas, Moonstone, and Fixer defected to the Masters of Evil after Baron Zemo used Kobik's abilities to send Winter Soldier back in time. After Kobik shattered, Atlas assisted in searching for her fragments in order for Baron Zemo to put her back together.

He later joined Baron Zemo's Army of Evil along with the other Masters of Evil and aided in Hydra's takeover of the United States. After Hydra's takeover Atlas and rest of the Army of Evil were all placed in stasis by Hydra out of fear of what they would do if they were allowed to remain free. After Hydra's regime fell, Atlas was likely awakened from stasis and taken into custody.

HISTORY
Al Pratt operated as the "mystery man" called the Atom during World War II as a member of the Justice Society of America. Sometime after the war, Pratt was summoned by aspiring politician Tex Thompson for testing for a suitable candidate for his "superhero for the atomic age" project, but was rejected due to the nature of his atomically-enhanced abilities, which in secret would have poisoned the brain of Adolf Hitler, which was eventually transplanted into the body of Daniel Dunbar, the test subject that became Dynaman. Nevertheless, Pratt was hired on as a recruitment office worker for Thompson's Federal Bureau of Superheroes, reluctantly allowing Johnny Thunder to join in the work of promoting Thompson's campaign.

At a rally in Washington, D.C. in 1950 where all costumed superheroes were to appear by Presidential decree to show their loyalty, Joan Dale (Miss America) publicly exposed Tex Thompson as being the Ultra-Humanite and attempted to also expose Dynaman as being Adolf Hitler in Daniel Dunbar's body when the Ultra-Humanite had Robert Crane (Robotman) silence her by murdering her in public. Rex Tyler (Hourman) took over for Joan Dale in the exposure of both Thompson and Dunbar, causing Dynaman to show his true colors and to attack the various superheroes present. Al Pratt, who was duped into believing he was fighting for a good cause, found himself fighting against Tyler, who helped him see the truth behind Thompson's deception long enough to give his fellow Justice Society member a hand in fighting Dynaman.

Years later, after Thompson and Dynaman were killed, retired "mystery man" Johnny Chambers (Johnny Quick) noted Pratt's change in attitude that suggested that he may have "learned something from his mistake".

HISTORY
Albert Rothstein was the grandson of the reluctant super-villain known as Cyclotron, from whom Albert inherited his metahuman powers by which he can control his molecular structure (allowing him to alter the size and density of his body). He was the godson of Al Pratt, the Golden Age Atom, and raised to becoming a hero known as Nuklon and becoming a charter member of Infinity, Inc. and subsequently served in the Justice League. He took the Atom Smasher identity shortly before the founding of the current Justice Society of America, of which he was a charter member. He viewed Pratt's son, Damage, as a brother, and acted as an older brother figure to Stargirl. While Stargirl has (or at least had) some romantic feelings for Atom Smasher, he has not yet openly reciprocated.

For years, Atom Smasher cherished his role in upholding Pratt's legacy and constantly sought to prove himself worthy to his Golden Age idols - especially when many of them became his teammates in the JSA. But when Albert's mother was murdered in a plane crash engineered by Kobra, he became consumed by vengeance. Not long after the fatal crash, Albert - with the aid of Metron of the New Gods - went back in time and replaced his mother with a weakened Extant, saving her life but murdering the super-villain.

When Captain Marvel's longtime adversary Black Adam reformed and joined the JSA, he and Rothstein developed a kinship; indeed, Black Adam once commented that he thought of Atom Smasher as the brother he never had. Encouraged by Adam, Atom Smasher grew frustrated with the JSA's moral boundaries, especially when Kobra blackmailed authorities into granting his release. Albert and Adam promptly quit the JSA after Kobra's escape.

Shortly thereafter, the unlikely duo settled each other's personal scores. Adam killed Kobra; Rothstein killed the dictatorial president of Kahndaq, Adam's home country. Atom Smasher helped lead a team of rogue metahumans (including former Infinity Inc. teammates Brain Wave and Northwind) that invaded the country and overthrew its oppressive regime. Atom Smasher initially fought against his JSA teammates in Kahndaq before deciding instead to help forge an uneasy truce - Black Adam and his compatriots could remain in power so long as they never left the country. Atom Smasher remained in the Middle Eastern nation for a time, although he eventually began to question Adam's motives. Rothstein perished while fighting against the Specter, but was revived by Black Adam's lightning, and carried back to JSA headquarters.

He was later put on trial for his actions in Kahndaq and pleaded guilty to all charges. Whilst in jail, he was approached by the founder of the Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller (also White Queen of Checkmate). Waller recruited Albert as part of a new group of covert operatives using the name, the Suicide Squad. Aware of Al's history with Black Adam, she sent the squad to San Francisco to sanction him. There, the Squad fought not only Black Adam, but Black Marvel Family members, Isis, Osiris and Sobek as well. Despite his prodigious strength, Albert lost the fight against his old colleague. When Black Adam went on a rampage following the death of the Black Marvel Family, Albert rejoined the JSA in tracking down Black Adam to Oolong Island after being pardoned by Waller, he threatened to expose the Suicide Squad. After finding Black Adam, Albert tried to reason with his old comrade while refusing to condemn him in any way, not even believing him guilty of the genocide in Bialya. However, he was dismayed that Adam admitted his actions and returned to his path of vengeance, dubbed World War III.

Following the conflict, Albert continued to worked with the JSA in search for a powerless Black Adam, who was intent upon resurrecting his dead wife Isis. Unknown to the JSA, Albert personally confronts Black Adam and brings him Isis' remains, and unsuccessfully tries to persuade his friend to go into hiding.

Albert formally returned to the JSA, asking the team for a second chance at honoring the memory of Al Pratt despite some of their skeptical members. Regardless, Albert joined the JSA in tracking the recently re-powered Black Adam, who and along with a resurrected Isis stole Captain Marvel's powers and and his throne at the Rock of Eternity, and eventually encountering him in a diner. The two notably did not fight, showing that their relationship is a bit more amicable. Ultimately, Albert proved his valor as a worthy member of the JSA in which he convinced Black Adam to giving up his powers to reviving the wizard Shazam and ending the threat of the Black Marvel Family.
