Well...what happens when the villain no longer has any challenges? Even the most sadistic evil idiot will get bored when no one is able to challenge him. The idea is that on his particular "world", he has won...and has effectively eliminated all of his rivals. And has been that way for a long time. To him...being the evil leader has become too easy. Becoming a saviour? Now, that may just be a challenge.

Yeah, I figured as much. Go ahead if you wish. I'll judge the character when I see it!

Just posting up what I've got so far, which is Mechardt, the mecha of my character Techardt. This thing is a beast if in a situation where it can be used, utilizing a lot of area attacks. I am not sure if you want to use the option rule for the attacks of things 3 size categories or larger counting as area attacks, so I mainly built this to not really care one way or the other. The beam sword is just a large swipe attack, the beam is a 60ft line straight outwards and so on.

The energy shield uses Distracting to lower its Dodge and Parry to increase its Toughness (This was pointed out to me as possible with a reference to Blue Beetle 3 in the DC Adventures Books), and the only attack it can use while in that mode is it's unarmed attack which while it's strongest attack, is also the least accurate.

Mechardt can be piloted manually either in the cockpit or remotely by Techardt via virtual holo-cockpit console. it can also be set to simple tasks on autopilot (Defend this area, Keep suppressing fire on that enemy, etc)

Lastly, it'll require Summon Rank 11 to call out. The Gadget Guide ACTUALLY suggests building it as equipment, but seeing as it is a major factor of Techardt's character conceptually, I opted to make it a Heroic Summon. Given it's intended usage, it shouldn't bog the game down at all considering a) it'll only be able to come out and be useful in some situations, and b) it's not intelligent, so can't do without commands from Techardt, narrowing down his actions in turn. In short, they work in concert regardless. Mechardt is more or less simply an extension of Techardt's body in a sense.

It allows the installation to be moved basically once per adventure (The book says per session or less and goes on the elaborate it's more meant for installations that can be a base of operations that moves where the heroes do if they adventure in different locations as these heroes will be).

The Tekarrier can technically teleport Mechardt, but that's already factored into Techardt's Summon power. It'll also hangar an actual transport called the Tekraft for actual team transportation. The Tekarrier is mainly to be a base of operations the team can utilize regardless of where they find themselves.

Introducing my strange character concept Lumberjack, a Direct Descendant of Paul Bunyan, wielding a mighty woodcutting axe, a giant size size enough to punt a school bus, and the power to shape a continent just like her Great Great Great Great Great Great Great (Etc) Grandfather.

Name: Reena Bunyan
Alias: Lumberjack
Age: 20

Background: Reena was your average everyday female athlete, born in a small town in northeastern United States on the coast of the Great Lakes. Growing up, people made a lot of jokes about her height, since she was always several inches taller than her peers starting in late grade school. Paired with her surname, people liked to make jokes exaggerating her height, on the playful side, friends liked to pretend that her landings after short jumps were high impact explosions. On the hurtful end people liked to ask her how she fit through doorways, and would trip her, yelling 'TIMBER!'

Regardless of circumstances, eventually, people caught up to her, at least the boys did, and she wound up becoming captain of the girl's baseball team, thanks to her long legs and strong arms. This, paired with decent grades, made for a decent stairway to success. She got an athletic scholarship to a decent university, and she started on the path to become a paleontologist.

Things were going well as her second year, her made their best showing in almost two decades, making it to the finals before being put down. One day, in between semesters, she went back to her house to find it strangely abandoned, yet unlocked. She wandered about and found herself gravitating to the attic, which she'd never been inside of before. It was open, and she entered with wonder in her eyes.

That's when she saw it: An incredibly fancy woodcutting axe. It was idle curiosity that made her reach out to grab it, she just wanted to feel how it was to hold it. As her hand touched it, she felt a surge of power shoot through her, as the magic in the axe awakened her lineage. As the magic coursed throughout her body, she would stumble out, looking for help, eventually winding up outside, hitting her head on the door frame on her way out.

Staggering to the sidewalk, she suddenly realized why her head hurt, she was getting taller, not just another growth spurt though, she was getting tremendous, like a standing bus! Indeed it was becoming increasingly clear, she wasn't just a tall girl from the Bunyan family: She was a direct descendant of Paul Bunyan, the giant man who shaped the New World.

Thanks to the growth being magical, she didn't wind up naked, and as she got bigger and taller, the axe grew with her. She reached a height of 25 feet tall before she finally got control of herself, and with a minor amount of experimentation, she shrunk back down to size. But nothing was ever the same, even as she put the axe away, the effects remained. And it wasn't just her body growing, she could use her newfound powers to manipulate the very ground she walked upon, shaping the earth like her very great forebear. 25 feet tall wasn't her limit either: She could reach a whopping 50 ft tall, and create small mountains practically on command, then break them with her raw might.

This gave her an idea, and she decided to take to fighting crime.

Paired with her giant size, her athletic skills alone made her a threat to villains everywhere. With a clap of her hand, she could shatter Windows blocks around, a single stomp could whip the pavement like a rug, she could blow away crowds of thugs with her mere breath and accidentally knock them out with the debris. Even when she couldn't fight with her massiveness, her Heirloom Axe gave her immense attack power, letting her cleave trucks in half, with barely any effort on her part. This is where she finally found her real problem: While she had these amazing powers, there was no threat scaled to her own fierceness. She grew bored of crime, and settled back into college.

That is, until a mysterious letter showed up in her mail. It asked her if she was bored of stopping small time crime, if she was tired of easily thrashing her foes and saving the world with little more than her brute strength. It was an invitation to a higher calling, a vacation from the small time into bigger and better things. No questions asked, no strings attached. If she couldn't handle it, she could back out. When the advertisement put it that way, how could she refuse. So she would Don the costume once more, and the Lumberjack would see what saving the world was really like.

Complications
Motivation - Duty: Those with big power hold even bigger responsibility. Her level of power is even bigger than most, so she's willing to dedicate her life to the cause of protecting the multiverse.

Particularly Big - While she doesn't worry about shattering the very ground she walks upon at most times, she can't necessarily cause most of her Gigantic Feats to happen without throwing her weight around, which can lead to some unwanted collateral damage.

Treasured Axe - While it's indestructible, that axe of hers is a sacred treasure of her family. She really can't afford to lose it in some remote dimension, and will without a second thought try to retrieve it before she goes anywhere.

No Rocks Huh? - Her Ancestral Axe gives her the power to shape the very earth she walks upon. This doesn't do her any good if there are no rocks or earth to shape.

Descriptors
Jolly Giant [Magic][Bloodline][Size and Mass]: She is a descendant of Paul Bunyan, the giant of ridiculous portions whose head scraped the clouds. While she can't be that ridiculously big, she can reach heights of up to 50 ft tall, and with it comes tremendous strength and durability. Some of this durability persists even when she isn't grown.

Gigantic Feats [Size and Mass][Strength]: She's big, and when your big, you learn what it is exactly that weight can really do with a little finesse.

Breath of the Mountains [Wind]: By forcefulling inhaling and exhaling, Lumberjack can pull her foes towards her with vacuum force or blow them away like a tornado. Sometimes it kicks of debris heavy enough to cause considerable damage to those she affects.

Hands of Thunder [Sonic]: With a mighty clap of her hands a visible ripple of sonic reverberations tears through the area In front of her, rattling the various body fluids of anyone caught within, and likely their skeletons as well. This rattling can totally discombobulate a person, leaving them unable to move their body properly, or sometimes even think.

Earthshaker Stride [Ground]: With a single step the very ground around her rolls and flips like a carpet, no matter its composition otherwise. This lets her clear some space.

Ancestral Axe [Weapon][Magic][Druidic]: Her family has kept this woodcutting axe for many generations, and why it activated her powers is beyond her. Regardless it's a really handy tool, letting her manipulate earth, and it's also an axe.

Axe of Giants [Size and Mass]: This axe has the bonus property of increasing in size with her, as well as a magical damage enhancing property. Even when not grown it ramps up her attack power a great deal, and even guides her attacks in that state. When she's fully grown the effect is still there it just doesn't seem as great because she's already so, so strong, and the guiding ability doesn't really help with her overpowering it so casually. In effect it lets her fight like a Powerhouse even when not grown, but is still an excellent choice of weapon when she is grown.

Earth Shaper [Magic][Earth][Kinetic]: The Enchantments on the Axe allow Reena to manipulate the earth while she holds it.

Boulder: She hucks a big rock at somebody really hard. While it seems simple, it packs greater force than most modern cannons, and can dent steel with pretty decent precision.

Mountain Maker [Creation]: She can tap into druidic energies to form and construct solid earth from nothing, creating sizable formations with very little time and effort. The forms are versatile, but she can't really unmake them.

Fissure Maw [Engulf]: The ground beneath the targets in a line opens wide like a zipper and extends up like a mouth trying to devour them. If successful, it locks the foes in a tight space underground, not damaging, and with enough air to last long enough. Of course, once they're trapped the only think they can to is struggle and attack. They could also conceivably be freed by a friend blowing up the ground where they were standing.

Giant Physique [Bloodline][Toughness][Grit]: The blood of a giant flows through her veins and now that it's been awakened, she really isn't fazed by harsh effects of cold or weather. She's also much less sensitive to effects targeting her senses, since as a giant she's naturally accustomed to incredibly loud noises, large bright lights, giant piles of manure, etc. All that paired with skin thick enough to stop bullets even when she's tiny and you've got a mean lass on your hands.

Mountain Strider [Bloodline][Athletics]: She was a star athlete even before her bloodline awakened her to tremendous power. She can now more than double the world record runners in speed, and leap bounds of absurd distance in a short timeframe. All that while not even huge. When she is fully grown, her fast legs and larger strides synergize to allow her Footspeed on par with a high speed car chase. If she pushes herself, she can even keep up with professional grade race cars.

Bigger Senses [Bloodline][Sensory]: When you get bigger you learn to see and hear bigger. This doesn't seem to go away when she's normal sized.

Careful Steps [Talent][Stealth]['Probably Magic or Some Shit']: She's perfected the art of 'not crushing things underfoot on accident' to the degree where she won't even leave footprints in the snow. Not even while she's giant and weighs 400 tons. Yes, really.

*'Probably Magic or Some Shit' - As a descriptor, this basically means magic can optionally apply as one of its descriptors if the GM thinks there's any point in a magic nullification field make her Trackless stop working. Bonus points if this causes wanton continuity holes.

Your Drop Canyon attack is a little convoluted without really needing to be.

Transform: Earth to Air will create a hole in the ground as large as your rank will allow in volume with no real PL cap and you can open it under someone.

I pulled it straight from a power profiles, albeit I modified it a bit to be affordable. Earth to Air is a weird one since I don't think 800 lbs (I've got 10 points to work with) is enough to make a legit chasm, or even a legitimate damage effect. Earth is heavy.

Then again, the line area burrowing attack effect on it's own might suffice now that I think of it provided the GM is willing to let that be a damage effect wherein the opponents get dropped. What do you think?

Edit: I rebuilt it like a Burrowing Attack with Damaging (from Move Object) attached to it. Think there should be some benefit or modifier to it being easily countered by any Flight?

Lord Tenebrae, the Shadowbourne
Name: Erebus Tenebrae
Image

Light in the dark...

Like an ocean, the darkness is thick and fluid. It's embrace is complete and the silence is deafening. So, when a glowing coil burns itself into existence, the reaction is immediate. A figure now silhouetted in the darkness leans forward from where it was sitting. The light from the aberration is reflected back by a pair of cold eyes. The floating coil begins to pulse and more light pours from it's form, creating a kaleidoscope of images, followed by a litany or words with an offer.

Coils of darkness recede as the figure sets back and listens. Listens and considers.

The Bright Lords. That's what they were known as. At least that is what he remembers. It has been so long...so very, very long. Beyond that, he has trouble remembering why he was opposed to them. Why he decided to call upon and...embrace the mantle he now wears. He just knows that they and he did not see things the same way. That they needed to be removed from power.

That...and he remembers the pain...theirs and his.

And the Glory! OH...the Glory of defeating his foes. How so sweet....so, so bittersweet. A smile slides up the silhouette as it leans into the glow, more of the features becoming distinct.

It has been so long. So very long that he has had a challenge. Complacency has pulled him into a stupor as the power that he had...was, flowed freely, without guidance...without restraint.

Standing up now, the man reaches out and pulls the darkness back. Reigns it in and pushes it back as he actively surveys the decimated wastes that surrounds him. The look that plays across his features is a combination of disappointment...and guilt. In that moment, he knows that he has been “away” for far too long. That the darkness ruled while he just sat. He didn't shed a tear. He wasn't so much as sad, as upset with his apparent squander of what was once his.

Turning back, he looks up at the coil...the Cosmic Coil. The promise it brings. New places, new challenges. He knows it is nothing more than a recruitment pitch. He knows that what it offers may not be what it seems. Turing back around, he looks out at a barren world. There is nothing here now. There is nothing to...do. Nothing to have...Nothing to rule. With a nod, Lord Tenebrae steps before the Cosmic Coil walks towards the portal as it winks open.

What do you mean I can't do that? Erebus was, IS the ruler of his decimated world. In reaching that point, he did what he thought was necessary, no matter what the cost was. He has trouble looking at costs and collateral when doing something. He just simply does it. Having to look at what his actions leave behind is a new step for him.
There can be only one! Erebus is literally the last living being from his world. In his quest to defeat the Bright Lords, the rest of his race perished(or left....that is unclear). He is a very lonely individual. Being Immortal, he cannot even end his suffering as he will arise again.
Me and my Shadow. The Darkness within him that is his source of power, is a living entity. Its desires and hungers were once aligned...the defeat of the Bright Lords. Now...now it hungry again. And this time the two do not have the same desires.

Fair point about the mass of earth, but I would like to point out two things.

1) you have better ways of dealing damage. Doing damage shouldn't necessarily be the goal here.

2) putting an enemy 10 ranks of movement put of a fight could be encounter breaking in cases as not all enemies will necessarily have the means to get back to the fight or have to spend all their time getting back to the fight they are effectively "locked". (Coming from one who gmed a game where a boss type villain got telelocked into the air and was unable to do anything about it)

It might be better served as a stunt rather than an standard effect.

Technically burrowing 10 only puts the enemies 5 movement ranks out of the fight due to how slow burrowing is. This is lessened to 4 Ranks with packed earth and 3 ranks with stone. Your points remain wholly valid though.

I guess I should think of a different AE altogether...

Sadly, this week at the office has been hectic, but today I do my CPR & First Aid renewal so I should be out at a reasonable time. I'll be able to flesh out Star Born's background & complications by this evening.

@EpicEclipse. You say the mecha is immune to Will defense, but I cannot find immunity to will defense on the sheet. As for making it a heroic summon, it's still a summon, It will need Active if you don't want it to be dazed and Controlled if you want to control it. That's 55 points in all. A hefty expenditure for one power!

@PeterPan. I know the Chasm Attack is giving you trouble, but besides that, you got a good character!

@Shadowbourne. Interesting stats. Can't wait to see the story and complications!

@Zero Prime. Thanks for the update!

As for making it a heroic summon, it's still a summon, It will need Active if you don't want it to be dazed and Controlled if you want to control it. That's 55 points in all. A hefty expenditure for one power!
The Immunity to Will comes from lacking Intellect and Presence because they have no mind to be affected. On a side note, it means it gets no benefit from that bonus to Intimidate from Growth since it auto-fails Presence checks.

As for the rest, you totally called it, Heroic and Controlled. 55pp total. That's a little over the 1/4 total. Factoring in the cost of the HQ and vehicle comes to around 22 ranks of Equipment as well. Besides that, just figuring the rest of the build out. Need a few points for technopathy of course as well. Just trying to get it done in parts between work xD

After consideration, I turned the Ancestral Axe into a device that give her Earthshaping powers as long as she holds it, letting it be easily removable but also letting me make the powers more versatile and increasing my maximum price for them, as well as letting me get complication cred when there isn't earth to manipulate proving to be a complication rather than a flaw for whatever reason.

This put be two points over, so I knocked my Agility down 2 (-4, cuz I don't use it anyways) and increased my Dodge by 2 (+2)

I also turned the chasm into a line area engulf, because the ground gets hungry too.

Finally, I added a descriptor section because with a vast array of powers comes a vast array of description for people to spend slightly more time scrolling past. Anyone know if there's a functioning spoiler BB code?

Background is up...made it...ambiguous as to his orientation(Evil/Good). Looking at making his actions Evil with Good intentions?
