Sweet stuff so far! It's going so fast I can barely dwell on things, but I don't really know the system anyways, and I've probably read all the Wiki stuff while doing my own thread :). Lyja's GIGANTIC bio, considering she was only around for a short time, is a bit funny. Usually it's modern characters (mostly X-Men) who have huge essays.

Well, as you know, there are always those Doom Patrol/Red Guardian characters that just get attention.

I've been thinking of including links to the books (held on another site). Just so people have the option of reading them if so inclined.

I'm trying to just get things out but may be slowing down a bit in order to get peoples takes and not loose posts in the fury. I just have so many that I just want to share is all.

Again, if anyone has favorites or CC please do post it. I try to answer everything I can as soon as possible.

CONTACTS: Avengers; Fantastic Four; Human Torch; Sub-mariner

HISTORY:
Namorita was born over 30 years ago to Namora, half-human cousin of Atlantis's Prince Namor. Unknown to her husband Talan, Namora became pregnant via genetic manipulation by Atlantean scientist Vyrra, who implanted her with her own clone (infused with genes from Atlantis's greatest warriors). Talan died when Namorita was three, and she and Namora relocated to Lemuria. Eventually Namora was poisoned by her rival, Llyra, when Namorita was still a pre-adolescent. Llyra assumed the throne of Lemuria soon after, and Namorita remained in her care, suspecting her of Namora's supposed death but unable to prove it.

When Namor reunited with the cousin he had not seen since her infancy, he entrusted her welfare to his longtime surface friend, Betty Prentiss. Under Prentiss' guidance, Namorita attended high school and college. Namorita eventually considered Betty to be her second mother and took her last name when she died. Namorita also acted as mentor to Wundarr, and briefly joined his spiritual movement, the Water Children.

While a student attending Empire State University, Nita found herself coincidentally at the site of the reborn Terrax. She was forced into action, and was soon joined by a group of other teen heroes. This group became the New Warriors. As a founding member of the team, she played an important part in their quest to "change the world". Namorita frequently brought ecological concerns to the team's attention.

Nita also spent time with her cousin, Namor, who had recently returned to the surface world and started his own company, Oracle Inc.

While operating on her own Namorita confronted Sea Urchin, who was looting Atlantean property from the seabed. She came very close to killing him after an initial conflict in which he scalped her, and was left seriously wounded physically and emotionally for some time after their encounter.

After Night Thrasher abandoned the New Warriors to pursue his own goals, Namorita rose to become the team's new leader.
Nita has two great regrets from her time with the team. The first was the team's mission to Trans-Sabal. In this nation, the Warriors found themselves involved in an armed insurrection, forced to choose sides. At one point, Nita was in a position to prevent one of the army leaders from being killed, but because of the situation (Aqueduct was aiming at Halladah who was aiming at Mezdbadah) she could not decide how to act, and allowed Halladah to be killed by her inaction.

The second time Nita regrets to have messed up was during the "Poison Memories" crisis. Night Thrasher had gotten on the wrong side of a gang called the Poison Memories. One night, Nita drank too much and wound up sleeping (unknowingly) with a member of that gang. He used his access to her apartment to steal all the personal data she had on the Warriors, and arranged the kidnappings of her teammate's family. In the course of the Mems' missions, Rage's Granny Staples was murdered, Firestar's father was shot, and Nova's younger brother had a finger cut off.

Namorita underwent great emotional turmoil after the Trans-Sabal and Poison Memories incidents. She had been experiencing emotional difficulty, and directly after the Poison Memories affair was over, left the team. She went to her home of Atlantis, and there learned that her emotional problems were the result of physical change: When the doctor had originally cloned Namora, he had spliced in genetic codes from ancient Atlantean warriors, the idea being to prevent Nita from undergoing the same difficulty of being a hybrid that her mother faced. However, those dormant Atlantean genes were re-activated by Nita's physical and emotional stress, and it caused her to transform into the blue-skinned Kymaera (which means "ghost-shark"). She and Nova officially began a relationship with one another after Nita returned to the Warriors.

During a relief mission in Africa, the New Warriors were captured by a para-military organization called Undertow, and their operatives, the Soldiers of Misfortune. The Soldiers were actually helpless puppets, superhumans captured and mind-controlled by the Undertow military. Undertow attempted to do the same to the Warriors, but Nova arrived with the reserve Warriors to stop the process. Unfortunately, all the Warriors were rescued except Namorita, who remained in Undertow's control.

Made part of a Soldiers' pairing, Hard and Fast, Nita was forced to battle her own teammates. She was eventually rescued by Night Thrasher and Rage, and freed of her mind control. She rejoined the Warriors and renewed her relationship with Nova.

Nova and Nita continued their relationship, but it fell apart later when Nita began undergoing the next change in appearance/powers, and needed Rich's support, he turned away from her because of his own personal problems. She did not forgive him for this for a long time, and pursued a relationship with the Human Torch of the Fantastic Four.

Johnny Storm peripherally knew Namorita through her cousin's contact with the Fantastic Four. The two dashing young heroes (and popular tabloid topics) began a very public relationship. Nita became somewhat of a "tag-along" with Johnny's team. She would accompany them on a number of missions, but eventually the couple broke up.

Nita later became part of her cousin Namor's ruling council in Atlantis.

During a televised raid by the New Warriors of a building in which Cobalt Man, Speedfreek, Coldheart and Nitro resided, Namorita followed after Nitro. Slamming him into a bus, Namorita taunted him, which made him let off a massive explosion that killed the New Warriors (save for Speedball, whose powers caused him to be launched away by the blast), all of the children at the nearby elementary school and almost all residents in the surrounding neighborhood where the fight took place.

Namorita (in human color) was plucked from time before her death by Sphinx along with Moonstone, Bloodstone, Black Bolt, Mr Fantastic and others. Together they helped Nova to defeat Sphinx, which resulted in their returning to their respective times. However, as Namorita was about to go back to her own time, Nova, refusing to let her go again, grabbed her and everything went black. The Nova Corps then managed to rescue Nova, Darkhawk and Namorita and bring them back aboard their ship. Namorita now lives again in the present day Marvel Universe, but is actually a past version of the one that died.

Recently, The Revengers of The Cancerverse kidnapped Namorita when they detected an anomalous energy signature radiating from her.

Their orders had been to find the Avatar of Death, who the Undying Lord Mar-Vell knew would have his or her energy signature distorted by Mistress Death, therefore requiring The Revengers to bring any and all individuals with energy signatures like Namorita and Thanos back to Lord Mar-Vell and his right hand, the Quantum Band-wielding mage adept known only as Vaughn for inspection. She was taken captive where she met Major Victory, who was also captured because he was an anomaly in the time stream.

Namorita was rescued by Nova and a group of the most powerful heroes in the universe. They returned to Knowhere and Nova left her behind to help battle Mar-Vell in the Cancerverse. Nova seemingly died when the Cancerverse, leaving Namorita separated from her love once again. What happened to Namorita after that remains to be seen.

HISTORY:
Dr. Nathaniel Richards was a brilliant scientist, expert in several fields. He became very wealthy and respected in the scientific community. He met and married Evelyn and together they lived in Central City, California. They had a son Reed who like his father before him was a child prodigy with special aptitude in mathematics, physics, and mechanics. Evelyn died when Reed was seven. Nathaniel encouraged and guided young Reed in his scientific studies, and He fostered in his son Reed an insatiable love of science, exploration, and discovery, as well as a respect for the consequences of such science.

He was approached by a mysterious organization called the Brotherhood of the Shield who had appointed themselves the protectors of Earth. The group had protected the human race from threats for centuries. Back in 1953, just after the death of Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union, two prominent S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, billionaire industrialist Howard Stark and scientist Dr. Richards were recruited a mysterious young man named Leonid who possessed amazing superhuman powers. They took the powerful young man to the Brotherhood of the Shield High Council in the Immortal City under Rome. The High Council made them aware of "The Final Fate of Man", and appointed themselves the task of protecting the Earth until that event. They revealed to Leonid his destiny to help in their endeavor.

Leonid meets Leonardo da Vinci, who has apparently traveled through time to use his device to save the world. Da Vinci's return was met with resistance from Isaac Newton who saw it as a threat to his reign as leader of the organization. This eventually leads to the organization splitting into two factions; one led by Newton and one led by Da Vinci. Richards, Stark and Night Machine travel to the Immortal City and try to stop the two battling factions by putting the decision of leadership in to Leonid's hand on whom is right, he chooses Da Vinci over Newton, while he escapes in to the future. As a result of his period with them, he was present at the death of a quantum-powered superhuman. As a result, he gained the ability to propel himself through time.

However, this accident dropped him in Earth's distant future, as well as drawing all parallel universe versions of him to the same locality. This gathering was found by Immortus, who gave the group a sadistic choice: one lives, or all die. The various versions of Nathaniel Richards were forced to kill each other in a cosmic game of cat-and-mouse.

In an effort to avoid the slaughter, Nathaniel Richards spent much of the following years on the run, away from his family. Three years before the accident that gave Reed his powers, Nathaniel disappeared seemingly for good, leaving his son two billion dollars and retaining the family’s butler and maid, Mr. and Mrs. Peacock, in the family estate. He did this to ensure that no one would declare him dead before he returned.

Richards was actually in hiding on Earth-6311, a parallel Earth. He found himself on a planet that had been devastated by a war that occurred centuries before, between the people of the Earth and the human colonists of the Moon, ending in the destruction of the Moon itself. Nathaniel traveled around the war-torn planet, helping people with his scientific knowledge, until one day he met the Queen of the dominant race of humans. He gave her the information to better her people and create for them amazing machines, including flying, metal dragons that they rode on. In gratitude, the Queen gave Nathaniel her eldest daughter to marry. Nathaniel later discovered a citadel that held powerful, yet ancient, machines and rebuilt it to live in. The Queen and her people left him with a workforce made up of ape-like mutates from the Southern parts of the planet, but returned three years later to find the citadel transformed into a fortress, and Nathaniel seemingly calling himself the Warlord. The Queen discovered that, soon after the construction of the fortress was finished, the Warlord had attacked the nearest township and declared himself the ruler of the world.

In fact, the Warlord was not Nathaniel, but his wife, Cassandra. She kept him lulled in his citadel, pretending to love him and eventually bearing him a son. But she secretly lusted after power and disguised herself as Nathaniel, in his armor. It was to this newly ravaged world that the Fantastic Four traveled, searching for Reed’s father so that Reed could fill in certain holes in his memory. They found people dressed as cowboys from the Old West, but carrying laser guns and riding on flying, metal steeds. The four soon met with the Queen, who told them the history of the Warlord, and Reed himself approached the fortress, alone, to reason with his father. Yet the Warlord attacked him, sending her troops against his team, until Wyatt Wingfoot snuck around and threw a rock into a powerful, anti-matter weapon that the Warlord prepared to end the fight with. The resulting explosion knocked Wyatt out but killed the Warlord, Nathaniel’s wife. When Wyatt recovered, Nathaniel had joined them and spoke with his son. He was ashamed that he had been fooled for so many years by his wife and vowed to rebuild the world that his technology had devastated. The Fantastic Four left shortly afterwards, returning to their own time.

Years later, Nathaniel appeared in Four Freedoms Plaza and explained to his grandson, Franklin Richards, that he had come to help him. The Fantastic Four soon arrived, and Nathaniel greeted his son, and his daughter-in-law, the Invisible Woman. He explained that while traveling through the time-stream he found a possible future of his home-Earth, where Sentinels took over the planet and eventually killed most of the mutant populace, including Franklin. Though Agatha Harkness announced that she detected truth in his words, she also revealed that he was hiding something that involved Reed. Nathaniel told them that the Sentinels were efficient because they used technology invented by Reed, himself. When Reed interrupted the conversation to speak with Matt Murdock, their attorney, concerning the Human Torch's brush with the law, Nathaniel was left with Agatha. She told him that she knew his mission, but would stay silent because she felt it necessary, and asked if they would hate them for it. Nathaniel replied that they would, as they should.

Once Reed was distracted with the problem of the Sentinel’s circuitry, Nathaniel made his move and fired at his own son, knocking him out. He revealed that his true goal was to remove Franklin-who he described as a danger to the entire universe-completely from their timeline. But Susan refused to allow him and prepared to fight him, but Agatha tried to stop her with her sorceress powers. Franklin himself turned on Nathaniel, angered that he had turned Agatha against Franklin’s mother, and used his psychic powers to fire blasts of mental energy that Nathaniel’s suit could barely protect him from. Susan quickly subdued Agatha, and Nathaniel fended off Ms. Marvel who jumped in to help, whom he quickly subdued as well. Then Reed appeared and he and his wife fought Nathaniel together, though Nathaniel fired a neuro-scrambler at Susan to distract them. She blasted it out of air, and pointed at Nathaniel too late, as he grabbed Franklin and disappeared into the time-stream. While Reed, Susan, and Agatha argued with each other about whose fault it was, a figure reappeared moments later in Nathaniel's armor. They assumed it was Nathaniel himself, but the figure revealed himself to be a teenage version of Franklin, sent back from the future by his grandfather.

Nathaniel later transported to Doctor Doom's castle and reprogrammed Doom’s robots to believe that Nathaniel was Doom, himself. He then disguised himself as Doom and revealed himself to the people of Latveria as their monarch. Nathaniel used Doom’s machines to contact his grandson, Franklin, telling him to turn to Nathaniel’s son to save the world, though he pointedly did not specify which son. While searching for Reed, Nathaniel’s daughter-in-law appeared at Castle Doomstadt, investigating rumors that Doom had returned. But she found Nathaniel in his place, who announced that he was searching for his son, and asked for her help, but explained that Reed was not the son he sought. Nathaniel told Susan that he searched for his son, which he had fathered during his travels through the time-stream, who became the absolute ruler of Latveria, implying to her that Doom was his own son, as well as Reed. But his responses to her questions gave her little reason to trust any explanation or facts he gave her. Together they traveled to Tibet and the Monastery of Doom. While she fought the armed guards, Nathaniel found his own way inside and fired at Susan’s back when she discovered two sealed, person-sized containment tubes.

While Susan looked on in horror, Nathaniel opened the pods to reveal Kristoff Vernard and Doom’s servant, Boris (who was actually Zarrko the Tomorrow Man in disguise). Then Nathaniel, Kristoff, Susan, and Boris joined up with the rest of the Fantastic Four to fight against Aron the Rogue Watcher, who had disguised himself as Uatu. But when they transported to Uatu’s base on the Moon, and Aron revealed himself and attacked them, Nathaniel retreated rather than face his powers.

Nathaniel’s grandson, Franklin, and his Fantastic Force team later followed one of the flaming apparitions of Susan that warned them to help the Fantastic Four, back to its source, using Huntara’s scythe. What they found was Nathaniel, posing as Doctor Doom, and using the fake apparitions to control his grandson and daughter-in-law. Huntara attacked Nathaniel, intending to kill him for his traitorous crimes, but Franklin stopped her before she could finish him. Then, Nathaniel took them to the Watcher’s base to join the Fantastic Four. After Huntara rescued Susan from the Negative Zone where Aron had thrown her, the entire group jumped into the cosmic rift that swallowed Uatu, and found themselves in the middle of a trial. The defendant was the One, the repository of all Watcher knowledge, judged by Arishem, the Celestial Judge. After finding the last piece of a super weapon they needed to defeat Aron, Susan sent the Thing and the Fantastic Force to face Aron, while Nathaniel and the rest turned on the Celestials to save the Watchers very existence. They faced off against Exitar the Executioner, who had been powering up for centuries to obliterate the One, and Nathaniel explained to Susan that her powers came from hyperspace, where the Celestials existed, and so they were enough to damage them. Susan used her force powers to tear a hole in the side of Exitar’s body, and they entered him to destroy him.

They eventually reached the core of the Celestial, where a mirage of Susan appeared to reason with them and explain the purpose of the Celestials. Though it recounted the history of the Celestials, and informed Susan that they needed to survive-over the Watchers-she lashed out and blew apart its nerve center when it attacked the One. The group inside the Celestial fell to the ground when it disappeared, and Uatu gathered them together in his shield, explaining that they had only stalled the confrontation between the Watchers and Celestials by a few millennia-as each group would eventually rebuild its strongest member. Then, when pressed, Uatu joined them and the other group against Aron, and used his own power to erase Aron from existence. He Who Summons appeared moments later and cast Uatu out of the Watchers for his crimes and excessive involvement, but Uatu was left with enough power to send the whole group back to Earth.

After Nathaniel accidentally robbed the Blue Area of the Moon of its artificial atmosphere, creating a panic in the Inhumans that was only fixed when the Fantastic Four shrunk Attilan to save them, Nathaniel offered his services to Morgan Le Fay to restore the city to its original size. He interrupted his attempts to save the city when Hyperstorm began to plot against the Fantastic Four. Nathaniel tried to stop them from traveling to Latveria, but failed, and while transporting out his beam was intercepted by Hyperstorm. His future descendent trapped Nathaniel and taunted him with his failure to stop his own plans to destroy the Fantastic Four. Imprisoned, Nathaniel mocked Zarrko, making him insecure, which inadvertently sent him into the room with an equally imprisoned Doctor Doom, who had recently freed his mind enough to lock Zarrko’s gaze with his, and transfer his mind into Zarrko’s body. Zarrko then freed Nathaniel and they plotted to surprise Hyperstorm. Together the two fought their way through Hyperstorm’s robots, but Nathaniel separated from Doctor Doom-Zarrko when he saw his son, Reed, returned and being attacked by Hyperstorm’s robots, along with his family.

Nathaniel arrived to the fight in time to direct Susan to use her powers, as she had against the Celestials, and she tore apart Hyperstorm’s destructoids. But Hyperstorm appeared directly afterwards, and they turned to battle him. Hyperstorm turned out to be too powerful, and Nathaniel and Susan convinced Reed that his abilities were better suited to finding a solution in Doom’s labs; so then Nathaniel and Reed left Susan to fight Hyperstorm alone. Reed tried to convince Doom, who used some of his own mechanisms to attack Hyperstorm, to work with him to defeat his future descendant, but Doom’s ego would not allow him to. Soon enough, Hyperstorm appeared and shuttled Doom off to his own Latveria, in his own time line, in order to embarrass him with his inability to defeat Hyperstorm. Then, instead of crushing the surrounding heroes, Hyperstorm healed the Thing’s face-that Wolverine had scarred-and sent them home, as well, commanding them to leave him to his plans, and not interfere again.

When Susan later collapsed in a fight with an out of control Black Bolt, Reed blamed his father for teaching her to use her powers to an extent that turned out to be too dangerous. Nathaniel countered that he was merely teaching her, her true potential. He watched as his son worked feverishly to come up with a solution to the threat of Hyperstorm, though Nathaniel warned him continuously that he was wasting his time, and endangering himself. Reed even went as far as trying to contact the Silver Surfer or Galactus to assist them, though the Surfer revealed that Galactus had seemingly died at the hands of his former herald, Morg. When Reed returned from his visit to the Surfer, Nathaniel and his son’s family watched as a time platform descended on Franklin, from Hyperstorm, returning Franklin to his true age. Forced by the situation, Nathaniel explained that he had previously stolen and aged Franklin because Franklin was destined to, one day, father Hyperstorm along with Rachel Summers, the child of Cyclops and Jean Grey. And Nathaniel continued to explain that-in all the time lines he had researched-the Fantastic Four were fated to die at the hands of Hyperstorm.

Despite Nathaniel’s warnings, Reed was insistent that he would find a way to defeat Hyperstorm. To that end, he traveled to the last known location of Galactus-with his family and friends stubbornly following him-and set up a machine to recall the world devourer. Hyperstorm soon appeared and attacked the collected heroes, and even Nathaniel turned on him and poured fire upon him, until Hyperstorm swatted him away. Then, as it seemed that Hyperstorm would win, Reed managed to hit a button on his device and open a portal to where Galactus lay exiled by his own hand, and the devourer grew angry at being summoned. Though he immediately sensed a source of unlimited power and energy in Hyperstorm and attacked him, feeding off of the hyperspace energies that Hyperstorm controlled. Reed’s device then shut back off, sealing both Galactus and Hyperstorm in the dimensional void, ending the threat.

Before they could celebrate, the entity known as Onslaught attacked Four Freedoms Plaza-looking for Franklin Richards. Nathaniel jumped on his back, planning to use his armor to siphon off psionic energies from Onslaught; but Onslaught’s power was too strong, and he shattered Nathaniel’s armor, leaving him defenseless. After Onslaught kidnapped Franklin, Nathaniel gave his son one last, final warning, revealing to him that he had seen in the time lines that the Fantastic Four and many of Earth’s heroes were destined to be obliterated while fighting Onslaught. Reed ignored him, and Nathaniel left them to their fight against Onslaught. Seemingly true to Nathaniel’s portents, Reed and many of Earth’s heroes disappeared from existence while fighting and defeating Onslaught, but in fact they were actually drawn into a Counter-Earth created by Nathaniel’s young grandson, Franklin, then later brought back out to their home reality.

Just after the death of Johnny Storm at the hands of Annihilus, Nathaniel returned to the past, to help his son and the Future Foundation using his knowledge of the future.

Due the presence of Reed Richardses of alternate universes, Mr. Fantastic made an alliance with many villains such as Mad Thinker, AIM, Wizard, Diablo, and High Evolutionary to plan how to stop them. Then they lead the battle to High Evolutionary's city where one of the Richards escaped with Doctor Doom and the others two were captured by the Kree army. After returning to Baxter Building, Richards reunited other heroes to fight the Inhumans in Attilan, but at the time they were preparing to go at the rooftop, a Kree invasion started. Reed used Iron Man's armor and Sue's power to create a force field around Manhattan, at the same time the Cult of the Negative Zone opened the portal to the Negative Zone after Spider-Man failed at stop them, the portal revealed a living Johhny Storm with a enslaved Annihilus.

Then Johnny gathered the team by drawing the symbolical "4" at the sky above the Baxter Building with his fire. Reed, Sue, Ben and Peter boarded one of the Annihilation Wave's ships controlled by Johnny, who used the rest of the ships to battle the Kree army until the Inhumans asked to finish them by their own hand. Meanwhile the other heroes on Earth where dealing with the scraps of the battle which could damage the Earth, Reed and Sue summons Galactus, who destroys completely the Kree army.

Meanwhile, in Latveria, Nathaniel and the rest of the Future Foundation helps the Reed-Alpha from the other universe to rebuild the Bridge (an interdimensional portal) to return to his universe, but the Mad Celestials kill him, as well as Doctor Doom. Using the bridge, the Mad Celestials appeared to destroy this universe. Although the team tried to use the Hub (a weapon of mass destruction created by the Reeds), they couldn't defeat the Mad Celestials. Then, a future version of Franklin and Valeria appeared as part of Nathaniel's plan. The Future Franklin used his power to heal Galactus and destroy the Mad Celestials, saving the day.

HISTORY:
In the early 1800s, seafaring explorer Arthur Gordon Pym discovered the lost Antarctic civilization of the alien Dzyan. This race were masters of the Vril, a mysterious magical energy. Living with them, Pym mastered the Vril, and its power enabled him to mentally control the aliens — through it also magnified Pym's inherent evil tendencies. Pym had the Dzyans constructed a pirate submarine called Nautilus, with which Pym who now referred to himself as "Captain Nemo," plundered ships worldwide.

Eventually, the Nautilus was nearly destroyed, but Pym was not killed; instead, in 1890 he returned to the U.S. temporarily and, under the assumed name of Perkins, married a wealthy young woman who later died during the childbirth that gave Pym a son named Ross. Ross spent the first ten years of his life among the Vril, only to be sent back home by Pym, whose evil tendencies the boy despised.

In 1910, with German backing, Pym built a mobile war-island called Leviathan and used it to sink the Titanic in 1912. He also captured some of the Titanic's gold and its survivors. Years later, his son Ross became a newspaperman. He suspected his father of piratical feats and found his way to Leviathan. There, he met and married a Titanic survivor. Bent on revenge against Pym, the young couple conceived a child in the presence of the vast Vril power, hoping that the child would inherit some of that power and could someday be their instrument of vengeance.

When the Perkinses returned to civilization, their son Neptune was indeed born a mutant, a "human dolphin" with a chronic deficiency of sodium salts that required his constant exposure to salt water. His parents purchased a houseboat near the Pacific Ocean in order to allow Perkins to live and thrive in such an environment. As a result, he developed a physique conditioned towards the rigors of undersea living, including a proficiency in swimming.

Neptune grew up in California with his parents and was never told about his family's history. Regardless, once he reached his late teens, his parents were killed by Nazis who hoped to goad Neptune into leading them to Pym. But because Neptune had not yet learned about his grandfather's existence, he put the tragedy behind him and continued his career as an undersea explorer. In February of 1942, this brought him into contact with members of the All-Star Squadron.

He aided them but was not a joiner. Soon he also unearthed a uniform that allowed him to distribute salt water around his body, and when he next met the All-Stars, he joined them as a member of the "Young All-Stars." He also met and fell in love with a fellow hero, the Japanese American agent Tsunami.

A year before, in 1941, Hitler learned of the Dzyan's existence and invaded Pym's home among the Dzyan. Pym managed to send his mate, a female named Kalla to find his grandson Neptune. She succeeded in drawing the Young All-Stars to their home where the Nazis were waiting. Pym ultimately defeated the Nazis himself by using the Vril power stored in his body. The effort killed him and the remaining Dzyan departed from Earth.

Much of Neptune Perkins' history between 1942 and the 1990s is largely unknown, although he did join Hawkman in two adventures in the late 1940s.

Perkins continued his relationship with Tsunami after the war and — to his knowledge — the two of them conceived a daughter, Debbie. Tsunami never revealed the truth to Neptune, that Debbie's father was actually the ancient Atlantean sorcerer, Atlan. Under unrevealed circumstances, their relationship came to an end. The sea then held too many painful memories for Perkins and he chose to make his home on land.

Perkins was reunited with Miya and Debbie years later when Aquaman called all the undersea nations to unite. Since he'd last seen her, Debbie had taken her own codename: Deep Blue. Soon after this, the villain called Rhombus reappeared claiming he was Debbie's father. Perkins and Tsunami were instrumental in his defeat, but Tsunami did not take the chance to set the record straight about Debbie.

After the war, Perkins became active in politics, eventually becoming a United States Senator (D-Hawaii). He used his influence in this position to team up with his old teammate, Dan Dunbar and form a legislative committee to monitor the teen group called Young Justice. Dunbar and his allies come to respect Young Justice and soon realize they don't need such a degree of monitoring.

Neptune Perkins died during the attack on Atlantis by a squad from Alexander Luthor's Secret Society of Super-Villains He was slain by the Shark and the similar villain, King Shark.

HISTORY:
Kyle Richmond was born and grew up in the city of Cosmopolis in the state of New Troy in the United States of Earth-712. Richmond's father, the billionaire head of a pharmaceutical manufacturing firm, died of a heart attack when Kyle was eighteen. Learning that the elder Richmond had made his fortune through highly unethical means, Kyle Richmond vowed to devote his life to battling the evil perpetrated in the world by men like his father. Hence, Richmond became the masked crimefighter known as Nighthawk.

Although Nighthawk had no superhuman powers, he defeated numerous criminal opponents, his most frequent nemeses being the costumed criminals known as the Mink, Pinball, and Remnant. Nighthawk and Hyperion, who worked as a team, were two of the founding members of the Squadron Supreme.

The cosmic gamesman called the Grandmaster once used the Squadron members as pawns in a tournament between himself and the Squadron's foe, the Scarlet Centurion. Later, the Grandmaster caused the counterpart of Kyle Richmond of an alternate Earth to launch his own career as Nighthawk.

Sometime later, the government of the United States of the Squadron's Earth came under its first covert assault. A huge industrial complex called the Serpent Cartel was actually the base of operations for various human agents of the extra-dimensional serpent-god Set, who manifested itself in the Serpent Crown, a mystical object of power. The Serpent Cartel placed the President and various other high-ranking politicians under the domination of the Crown. At the same time, on Earth-616, Hugh Jones, then president of the Roxxon Oil Company, was also made a slave of the Crown and was attempting to mastermind a similar secret government takeover. The Avengers intervened, and the U.S. President of "Other-Earth" dispatched several Squadron members to the Avengers' Earth to battle the Avengers. Traveling to "Other-Earth" themselves, the Avengers seized "Other Earth's" counterpart to the Serpent Crown and convinced the Squadron that they were being misled by their President. The Squadron forced the President to resign and saw to the dismantling of the Serpent Cartel.

Kyle Richmond retired as Nighthawk in order to enter politics, hoping to help undo the harm perpetrated on the nation by the Serpent Cartel. Richmond was nominated for the presidency and won by a landslide. While in office, President Richmond became mentally enthralled by the Overmind, a collective alien intelligence that was working in concert with Null the Living Darkness. The Overmind also took over the minds of the rest of the Squadron members, except for that of Hyperion, who fled to the Avengers' Earth for help. With the Squadron's help, the Overmind took over the mind of every major political, military, and industrial leader in the world. The Overmind began to force the Squadron to build a vast nuclear arsenal on the moon with which he hoped to wage war on other worlds in the Squadron's dimension. Fortunately, Hyperion returned with new allies, the superhuman champions of the Avengers' Earth known as the Defenders.

In the aftermath of this alien takeover, the world was in the midst of nearly total collapse. Hyperion proposed to the Squadron that they take it upon themselves to remake the world into a utopia, solving all of Earth's problems, such as poverty, economic instability, war, crime, and even disease and death. Richmond, attending the meeting as Nighthawk, protested that for the Squadron to implement its "Utopia Program," it would have to take total control of the world, and resigned once again from the Squadron.

Determined to stop the Squadron from taking over the United States, Richmond planned to assassinate its leader, Hyperion, with a bullet made of Argonite, an isotope whose radiation was lethal to him. When the time came, however, he found himself unable to kill his friend. In the following months the Squadron carried out their Utopia Program, and even made widespread use of a behavior modification device invented by Squadron member Tom Thumb, which brainwashed criminals into becoming unable to commit further crimes. Nighthawk tried to organize a counter force powerful enough to oppose it. This aggregation of superhuman beings was informally called the Redeemers. Nighthawk was also aided by Professor Imam, Earth's Wizard Supreme, and by Hyperion's greatest foe, Master Menace. It was Menace who devised the means of undoing the effects of the behavior modification machine.

One year after the Squadron's takeover, Nighthawk's Redeemers entered Squadron City. Nighthawk demanded that the Squadron surrender all the authority they had usurped. The longtime Squadron members were alarmed to discover that their five newest members, Haywire, Inertia, Moonglow, Redstone, and Thermite, were double agents sent by Nighthawk, as were Lamprey, the Shape, and Foxfire. Ultimately, the Redeemers won the battle.

Nighthawk convinced the defeated Hyperion that the main problem with the Squadron's Utopia Program was that they had used basically ignoble means that violated human rights to achieve noble ends. Since the Squadron members were not immortal, they could not ensure that future generations would not be tyrannized by the utopian technologies that they had created. One of the Redeemers, Foxfire, had fallen in love with Squadron member Doctor Spectrum, and wanted to help the Squadron win. She used her superhuman power to weaken the tissue of Nighthawk's heart muscles, giving him a massive heart attack. But another Redeemer, the Mink, avenged Nighthawk's death by killing Foxfire with her metal claws. But although Nighthawk had died, he still had won the battle. The Squadron Supreme surrendered, and Hyperion proposed that the Squadron dismantle the Utopia Program.
Eventually, Kyle's son, Neal would take over his identity.

HISTORY:
Kyle Richmond was the son of wealthy businessman Arthur Richmond (owner of Richmond Enterprises) and his wife Penelope. While his father was mostly absent on business trips, his mother died in a tragic accident, leaving him in the care of a governess. Upon reaching schooling age, Kyle was placed in a private school. His first day, he began to cry, prompting his classmates to laugh at him which broke out in a fight. Kyle grew up a troubled child, constantly getting in trouble in school, and growing arrogant due to his family's wealth. One year as an adolescent, he struck his principal, knowing that his father's money and influence would prevent any repercussion for his actions.

As a young adult, Kyle continued his education at Grayburn College, beginning a relationship with Mindy Williams. Kyle's reckless nature led to a night of drunk driving that ended in a vehicular accident. Kyle's father used his money and influence to cover up the accident, sending the now-crippled Mindy away and leaving Kyle to believe that she had died in the accident. Ultimately the incident got him kicked out of school. Kyle attempted to join the military, but was rejected due to a heart murmur, and became obsessed with training his body and curing the murmur. During this period, Kyle's father died in a plane crash leaving him the sole heir to the Richmond fortune. He also briefly dated fashion model Trixie Starr, however they soon grew apart.

Kyle became a pawn of the Elder of the Universe known as Grandmaster. After playing a contest with Earth-712's Scarlet Centurion, pitting the worlds Squadron Supreme and Institute of Evil against each other,

the Grandmaster was inspired to create his own version of the Squadron Supreme on Earth-616, he noted that Earth-712's version of Kyle Richmond was the heroic Nighthawk, and orchestrated events to recreate a Nighthawk with the Earth-616 Richmond. Using the Wellspring of Universal Power, the Grandmaster inspired Kyle to create a special serum that increased his natural abilities three fold in the night. Using his wealth, he built devices and vehicles and created his identity of Nighthawk.

As Nighthawk, Kyle was recruited by the Grandmaster to be a member of his Squadron Sinister, super-villains based on on Earth-712's Squadron Supreme. Grandmaster then challenged the Scarlet Centurion's counterpart Kang to a contest, pitting the Avengers against the Squadron Sinister. Nighthawk was sent to New York City to attempt to destroy the Statue of Liberty, and pitted against Captain America. Nighthawk and his fellow Squadron Sinister members were defeated by the Avengers, and ultimately the Grandmaster won his contest against Kang.

The Grandmaster left the Squadron to their own devices, and for a brief time Nighthawk acted solo. Needing thrills, he challenged Daredevil to capture him, committing spectacular crimes and seeing if the Man Without Fear could stop him. Daredevil ultimately foiled his plans, although Nighthawk escaped. Shortly thereafter, while purchasing replacement parts for his Hawk-Plane, Nighthawk committed an act of hit-and-run, leaving his victim to die.

Nighthawk was reunited with his fellow Squadron members when they were approached by the alien known as Nebulon, who had come to purchase Earth for his people. Part of this bargain involved melting the Earth's ice caps in order to flood the planet and make it more inhabitable for Nebulon's race. Learning of this plot, and finding it deplorable, Nighthawk sought the aid of the Avengers to try and stop his fellow Squadron members from committing this act. With the Avengers unavailable, Nighthawk learned of the Defenders and sought that group's aid instead. After an initial clash with the Defenders, they agreed to join him in stopping Nebulon. However, before Nighthawk could take them to the ice cap, he was teleported away by Nebulon. When the Defenders came to rescue Nighthawk, they clashed with Nebulon and found themselves launched into space. However, Nighthawk and the Defenders returned to Earth, and Nighthawk sacrificed his life to stop Nebulon by turning the alien's laser cannon on the monster, shunting him and the other Squadron Sinister members to another dimension and mortally wounding Kyle. The Defenders gave up portions of their life force to restore Kyle to life, and he asked to join the team. He joint, and became one of the Defenders.

Upon joining the Defenders, Kyle abandoned his hawk inspired vehicles and redesigned his costume with new weapons and flight capabilities. In his first mission with the Defenders he aided the group and Professor X in stopping Magneto, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and Magneto's newest creation, Alpha the Ultimate Mutant, from terrorizing the world. Next, he aided the Defenders and Son of Satan in saving his teammate, the Hulk, from Asmodeus.

In an attempt to make the team more close knit, he refashioned his riding institute into a base for the Defenders, but found, to his frustration, that the group was too loosely based to have need of a true headquarters. He next went into action with the Defenders and Power Man to stop the Wrecking Crew, who were destroying Richmond Enterprise buildings in the hopes of reclaiming a gamma bomb developed by their member Thunderball. He also aided the Defenders and the Thing in preventing the Celestial Harmonica from being exploited by cult leader Van Nyborg to reshape the universe. During his time for the Defenders, Kyle began to develop feelings for fellow Defender teammate, Valkyrie, until he learned that her alter ego of Barbara Norriss was married, causing him to storm out. He was soon reunited with Trish Starr and revealed his secret identity to her. Kyle went into action as Nighthawk in an attempt to stop the Headmen from robbing diamonds during a madness inducing rainstorm of their creation, only to fail in stopping Gorilla Man.

Nighthawk once more became a pawn of the Grandmaster when he pitted the Defenders against champions selected by the robotic Prime Mover, a battle which the Defenders ultimately won thanks to some trickery on the part of their ally Daredevil. By this time Richmond's relationship with Trish became more serious. Things were cut tragically short, however, when a car-bomb planted by her uncle, Egghead, exploded in Richmond's vehicle with both of them inside. Although both Kyle and Trish survived, Patricia needed to get her arm amputated. After a brief clash with the Squadron Sinister (whom the Defenders mistakenly believed planted the bomb until told otherwise by Yellowjacket), Trish left Kyle, not wanting him to stay with her out of pity.

After aiding Spider-Man in stopping the Meteor Man from stealing meteors to increase his powers, Kyle aided his fellow Defenders in stopping the Sons of the Serpent from burning down tenement slums in New York. In battling the racist group, the Defenders revealed their leader to be J.C. Pennysworth the man Kyle entrusted to run Richmond Enterprises. Horrified that his most trusted man would use his companies money to fund a racist organization, Kyle briefly departed from the Defenders.

Kyle later returned to the Defenders to help them aid Earth-691's Guardians of the Galaxy in stopping the Badoon mutated creature Eelar. He traveled with the group to Earth-691's 31st Century to help the Guardians overthrow the Badoon who had taken over the Earth in that era. After succeeding in their mission the Defenders returned to their own native time.

Investigating Pennyworth's investments, Nighthawk learned of a movie studio purchased using Richmond Enterprise money, and that it was a front for the Maggia. Captured by their agent Tapping Tommy and held for ransom, Kyle was saved by his fellow Defenders. Later he and the Defenders helped Howard the Duck and Beverly Switzler defeat the Band of the Bland.

Nighthawk was targeted by the Headmen, who easily captured him by bombarding his mind with images of Trish. They then surgically removed his brain and replaced it with the mind of Chondu the Mystic. While a disembodied brain, Kyle was forced to relive the more painful moments of his life and riddled with the guilt over his many failures. During this time, the Defenders detected Chondu's presence in their ranks and switched his mind with that of their ally Jack Norris, who saved Kyle's brain only to be captured by Nebulon's minions the Ludberdites. Ultimately, the Defenders defeated the Headmen and Nebulon, rescued Jack and Kyle and restored everyone's minds to their proper bodies.

Dr. Strange arranged to have Russian doctor Tania Belinskaya (secretly the Red Guardian) restore Kyle's brain. Kyle was then kidnapped and ransomed again, this time by Plant Man, and rescued by his Defenders allies once more.

Nighthawk and the Defenders became caught up in a battle with the Celestial Mind Control Movement, a world wide cult that was slowly taking over the world, leading to clashes once more with the Headmen and Nebulon, as well as Nebulon's mind-controlled slaves Porcupine and Eel. Also during this period, Nighthawk helped Jack Norriss search for the missing Valkyrie, learned that she was arrested and hired Matt Murdock to have her freed from jail.

Nighthawk remained a mainstay with the Defenders for a time, battling many foes both conventional and mystic. He aided the Defenders in saving Trish from the extra-dimensional sorceress Shazana; stopping Defenders member the Hulk from a rampage; battled the Emissaries of Evil; met the rock group Kiss; battled the Star of Capistan possessing Dr. Strange.

With Dr. Strange leaving the team, Nighthawk took over leadership and relocated them to his riding academy. They soon needed to rescue Jack Norriss from Scorpio and his LMD Zodiac team with the aid of Moon Knight. The group rescued Jack and defeated the LMD Zodiac, however, Scorpio committed suicide to avoid capture.

Nighthawk fought the Ringer, stopped a rampage between the Hulk and the Sub-Mariner, and aided the Wasp and Yellowjacket in stopping Porcupine.

Nighthawk traveled with the Defenders to Russia to investigate the source of radiation from the country that was affecting Atlantis. This led to a clash with the Presence, the Defenders stopped him at the expense of their comrade Red Guardian becoming a radiation mutated being. Kyle and fellow Defender Hellcat were exposed to excessive amounts of radiation and required decontamination. Upon their release, they aided Ms. Marvel in stopping AIM. Kyle was briefly called to England for a Richmond Enterprises meeting that ultimately led to him and the Thing battling an ancient creature dug up from the Himalayans dubbed the Shambler.

Kyle returned to the States and upgraded his equipment before accompanying the Defenders on a number of missions in which their new ally Dollar Bill, a film student, followed along with them. They battled the demon Balthazar and his Cult of the Harvesters of Eyes. When Death-Stalker targeted a Richmond Enterprise funded star-drive in London, Nighthawk enlisted the aid of his fellow Defender Dr. Strange to help defeat the villain and foil his plot. With the Defenders, Nighthawk attempted to aid Dollar Bill in stopping the vigilante known as Lunatik, however they failed to capture him.

The Defenders existence was outed to the public thanks to a documentary made by Dollar Bill, much to the annoyance of Kyle. The documentary caused numerous problems, namely it attracted a group of super-heroes wishing to join the group finding their lax membership policy appealing, and encouraged a group of villains to pose as Defenders to commit crimes. Nighthawk led a squad of the so called Defenders for a Day against the evil "Defenders". Nighthawk's group constantly ran afoul of a young trouble maker before being delivered a humiliating defeat at the hands of a group of "Defenders" trying to rob a bank. At the end of the day, the villains were defeated however all the Defenders for a Day quit.

With Valkyrie becoming more unstable, Nighthawk vowed to try and get her professional help, however she fled before he could do so[52]. Nighthawk and Hellcat got into a car accident and had their souls taken to Valhalla where they learned that they were pawns in an attempt by Hela to take over Valhalla. With the help of Valkyrie, they defeated Hela and her minion Barbara Norriss before being returned to Earth and restored to life. Nighthawk battled Yandroth, and was part of another Avengers/Defenders team-up that was be marred when the Scarlet Witch was attacked by the new super-hero known as Jewel who was at that time controlled by Purple Man. Later he assisted his fellow Defenders against Anything Man who was manipulated by the Omegatron.

Nighthawk then joined the Defenders in trying to stop the Lunatik, bringing them to the realm of Tunnelworld where they fought against the Unnamable, a powerful force that threatened Tunnelworld and the entire universe. Nighthawk and his fellow Defenders ended the Unnamable's menace by making everyone forget the being's name except the Hulk, who had that part of his brain atrophied by Dr. Strange.

Upon his return to Earth, Kyle received a call from his lawyers. As it turned out, the Justice Department had begun investigating Kyle Richmond and Richmond Enterprises for tax evasion, fraud, and stock market manipulation. His lawyers warned him that he was not legally be allowed to operate as Nighthawk or would have to face legal action, forcing him to quit the Defenders. This did not stop Kyle from becoming Nighthawk again. He went into action to stop the Foolkiller, at the expense of his riding academy being burned to the ground. This landed him the risk of jail time if he was to go into action again, frustrating Kyle further especially when new modifications were made to his armor. Kyle still disobeyed government orders to aid a number of super-heroes in a failed attempt to take down a force-field put up around the city.

Shortly thereafter Kyle disobeyed the law again, becoming Nighthawk to aid the Wasp in rescuing Valkyrie, Hellcat and Yellowjacket who had been captured by the Mandrill and Mutant Force. He aided the military in stopping Mandrill and his army, and freed his friends. However, this activity as Nighthawk had Kyle arrested by the FBI. Kyle had to deal with the legal red tape of trying to sort out his legal affairs, while his fellow Defenders went off on other missions. When Kyle was asked by Black Panther to help recover stolen Wakandan technology, and later asked to help track down the Hulk, Kyle had to turn both down as Nighthawk, but provided his resources with Richmond Enterprises to help fund missions and repair the Defenders' aircraft.

With the help of lawyer Matt Murdock, Kyle had the ban on his super-heroics lifted. Going out into action again Kyle broke up a hostage situation. However, his joy was marred by news that the Justice Department was still going ahead with criminal charges against him for tax evasion, and other corporate crimes. With his assets now frozen, Nighthawk had to deal with continued legal battle, but took time away to attend the funeral of Dorothy Walker, Hellcat's mother. His initial court trail ended up being marred due to interference by the Mandrill, whom the Defenders defeated with the aid of Daredevil.

Later while answering to the press about his current legal troubles, Kyle was haunted by his past when attacked by a robot modeled after his ex-girlfriend Mindy Williams. He was aided by Spider-Man, who accompanied Kyle to the now abandoned Greyburn College where they faced off against robots made by Mindy herself who was revealed to be alive and well. Foiling her revenge scheme, Kyle had her get psychiatric help. On the way home, Kyle was demoralized as a hero but his opinion changed after saving a young crippled girl when the wall of a derelict building threatened to topple on her.

Kyle and the Defenders were caught in a conspiracy to bring Hell on Earth. It all started when fragments of Eternity sent out to live human lives refused to return to the celestial embodiment of everything, threatening to destroy all existence. Kyle was the key to the victory, convincing the fragments of Eternity that destroying the universe would also kill their loved ones. Following this battle, Nighthawk suddenly collapsed. Dr. Strange soon found that some force had severed the life force that saved his life many months earlier, and worked quickly to save Kyle's life. Strange succeeded, however Kyle found himself paralyzed.

When the Defenders faced the Six-Fingered Hand, a group of lesser demons behind the conspiracy to bring Hell on Earth, Kyle found that at night, the serum that originally enhanced his natural abilities granted him mobility at night. However, the effect wore off at dawn. Despite this limitation Kyle went into action as Nighthawk to help his fellow Defenders and Dracula end a vampire uprising orchestrated by the demon Puishannt.

With his legal troubles still continuing, Kyle paid a visit to his lawyers to have them delay the court proceedings, and abruptly left when Rosemblaum showed him pity. When the Defenders headed off to Detroit to follow another lead on the Six-Fingered Hand, Kyle stayed behind. When the Defenders followed Devil-Slayer to Israel to investigate a so called messiah named David Kessler, they brought Kyle with them. Kessler restored Kyle's mobility, however the Defenders revealed that Kessler was possessed by the demon known as Hypporki. When a horrified Kessler committed suicide, Hyppokri was defeated, however, Kyle once more lost his mobility.

Following the battle with Hyppokri, Kyle decided to quit the Defenders hiring a chauffeur and nurse Luann Bloom to look after him. Kyle bonded quickly with Luann, however he was captured by Hellcat, who was being manipulated by the Six-Fingered Hand. Taken to Arizona, Kyle was horrified to be transported to Hell where he found that the whole conspiracy was being masterminded by none other than Satan himself. With his mobility restored, Nighthawk joined the Defenders in battling the various Hell-Lords. Kyle, Gargoyle and Devil-Slayer were forced to fight Thog and an army of dead soldiers from wars around the world. Kyle won their battle by convincing the soldiers to stand down, however Thog cheated and had them bombed. Kyle and the other Defenders survived and defeated Satan and the other Hell-Lords when Satan proved unable to kill his son Daimon Hellstrom. While the Defenders had their victory, it came at cheating to give Daimon increased power and Satan took his son back to Hell with him, leaving the Defenders to wonder if this was not his intention all along. Following their victory against the Six-Fingered Hand, Kyle quit the Defenders.

After an unsuccessful attempt by Gargoyle and Clea to heal Kyle, Kyle left for Massachusetts, and paid a visit to Mindy Williams. Kyle learned to his surprise that Mindy had developed mental powers. Finding the facility suspicious and being warned by Clea that the power that crippled him originated from there, Kyle investigated and found out it was apparently run by the Central Intelligence Bureau of the government. The CIB intended to create an army of soldiers with mental powers, Mindy being one of them. When Kyle refused to go along with this, their administrator August Masters unleashed Mindy's full power on Kyle. Mindy created psychic rats to attack him, however she turned on her masters when Clea reminded her how much she felt for Kyle, destroying their equipment and killing some of their techs. Kyle vowed to use his money and the media to take down the CIB, but this did not work out as the organization used their influence to cover up the story, much to Kyle's anger and frustration.

After attending the funeral of Captain Marvel, Kyle was targeted by Dr. Strange foe Cyrus Black who transformed children into the likeness of Hulk, Captain America and Spider-Man, however Kyle defeated Black and turned him over to Dr. Strange.

Kyle found that his legal troubles were sorted out and he only had to pay a fine of $767,000.00 in outstanding taxes. He learned that this was due to the manipulations of August Masters who attempted to gain Kyle's favor, however still furious over their last encounter, Kyle vowed to take Masters and his operation down. Kyle became a pawn of the Grandmaster yet again as he was one of the heroes selected to compete in the Contest of Champions between the Grandmaster and Death, however he did not combat in the tournament.

Returned to Earth after the Contest, Kyle purchased a new brownstone for the Defenders to operate out of, however he, Hellcat, Gargoyle, and Valkyrie were gassed and captured by Masters. Taken to a mountain base, Kyle learned Masters was not really a member of the CIB, but a secret organization of "super-patriots" who sought to use psychics and telepaths to launch World War III by decimating Russia with a mental attack. Ultimately, the psychics worked through Kyle to free the Defenders and their ally Captain America, and sent them to safety while he detonated the base seemingly killing himself and the psychics.

Although no body was found, there was a funeral service for Kyle. The Defenders also tried to learn if Kyle had survived, but their efforts were in vain.

Kyle however was not dead at all, but was found in a coma and kept alive, listed in a hospital simply as a John Doe. He was revived from his coma, seemingly by an angel, who granted him with special visions that enabled him to see crimes before they were committed. Returning to his life of heroics, Nighthawk soon found that this supposed blessing was a nightmare in the making: He attacked criminals before they committed a crime, making him a criminal himself and attracting the attention of Daredevil. This led to a clash between the two where Nighthawk in a fury killed Daredevil. He and Daredevil's corpse were transported to Hell where Kyle learned that his "gift" was actually given to him not by an angel, but by Mephisto.

Trapped in Hell, Kyle fought his way out, carrying the corpse of Daredevil along the way and found a means to restore Daredevil back to life via demonic flames. Ultimately, they escaped from Hell after Mephisto attempted to trick the two heroes into believing that they were in Heaven, however Daredevil saw through this illusion and they returned to Earth.

Nighthawk then began amassing occult knowledge, befriending the mystic known as Papa Hagg who removed the mystic sight for Kyle.

Kyle was reunited with his fellow Defenders when they weree called to stop their old foe Yandroth, who in his defeat cursed the original Defenders, a curse that would have repercussion for the group much later.

Along with the reunited Defenders, Kyle faced threats such as the Olympian death God Pluto, and the Headmen. During this period Yandroth's curse became apparent, whenever there was a major threat in the world the original Defenders were teleported away to face it. The first time this happened, Nighthawk and the other Defenders tracked down Dr. Strange and the others to Sky-Island, leading to a fight with the Bi-Beast and the Bloodraven Cult, to prevent them from detonating a powerful bomb. After saving Atlantis from an attack by Attuma and his group Deep Six, the original Defenders were teleported away to fight a Hellseyes, when Kyle and the others caught up, they arrived too late to help. Kyle was among the many heroes to be captured by Graviton and freed by the Thunderbolts. Next, Nighthawk joined the Defenders in battling AIM, foiled the Headmen's attempt to take over the world and finally liberated Atlantis from Attuma's control before attending the funeral of Captain America (who was incorrectly believed to be dead at the time).

When the Defenders approached the Earth-Mother Gaea to remove Yandroth's curse, which was making the original Defenders more and more irritable, Kyle was horrified when they attacked Gaea after she refused. Kyle found himself and the other Defenders transported to the Himalayan Mountains by Dr. Strange and trapping them there.

Trapped in the Himalayas, Kyle almost died of exposure, however Papa Hagg repaired their teleportation ring so that they might escape. Arriving at the home of Valkyrie's host Samantha Parrington, Nighthawk was nursed back to health. Learning that their Defenders allies had formed into an organization bent on taking over the world called the Order, Nighthawk and the remaining Defenders attempted to stop them leading to a clash with the savage astral forms of Dr. Strange, Silver Surfer, Hulk, and the Sub-Mariner.

Confronting the Order ended in failure, even with the aid of a female Silver Surfer and the group was banished to Yandroth's home planet of Yann in another dimension. There they learned from Scientist Supreme Christopher Ganyarog that Yandroth was using the Order as pawns to destroy Yann so that he might be resurrected as a god-like being. Nighthawk with the aid of Ganyarog and his Defender allies ultimately broke the curse on the Defenders and defeated Yandroth[106].

When Earth-616 was being forcibly merged with New Earth, Nighthawk was among the many heroes who defended people from both worlds from the ensuing chaos, while the combined efforts of the Avengers and the Justice League of America ended the crisis.
Following this clash, Nighthawk was captured along with the Thing and the reformed Constrictor by Arcade. The three heroes worked together to defeat Arcade and free themselves.

Nighthawk began to sense his powers growing, unaware that this was due to the Grandmaster's manipulations of the Well Spring of Universal Power. His accounts department was soon robbed by former Squadron Sinister member Speed Demon. Tracking him down, he got into a clash with the Thunderbolts, who now included Speed Demon. After everything was sorted out the group was attacked by Hyperion and Dr. Spectrum who had come to gather Nighthawk and Speed Demon for a Squadron Sinister reunion. During the ensuing battle between the Squadron Sinister and the Thunderbolts, Nighthawk and Speed Demon were captured and learned that the group was attempting to force change upon the world. Not willing to participate, Nighthawk refused just as the Thunderbolts attacked, leading to the Squadron fleeing with Speed Demon at their side. Nighthawk was willing to settle with the Thunderbolts if his stolen money was returned and Songbird offered him membership in the Thunderbolts. Nighthawk was then briefly plucked out of time to be a witness in She-Hulk's time infraction trial with the Time Variance Authority.

Returned to his own time, Nighthawk offered the Thunderbolts a new headquarters, and during a training session Kyle and the rest of the Thunderbolts were given glimpses of the future when their teammate Photon's powers flared out of control revealing him as a threat to the future. Before they could decide on what to do about the problem, they were attacked by Moonstone. The group was shunted into the Microverse where they fought for their lives and debated on what to do with Photon. Vehemently against killing Photon, Nighthawk was knocked out by fellow teammate Joystick. When they were rescued by Baron Zemo, Nighthawk continued to fight their decision to eliminate Photon, however he ultimately failed as Zemo succeeded in killing Photon and joining the Thunderbolts.

Unable to trust Zemo as leader of the Thunderbolts he questioned his teammates on how trustworthy Zemo was[115], when Songbird violently rejected his questioning. Nighthawk decided to defect to the Squadron Sinister instead. The Grandmaster dispatched them to locate the conduit points to Wellspring of Universal Power.

Nighthawk took time away to join in one of Thing's roaming poker games, and meet with various super-heroes to discuss the implementation of the Superhuman Registration Act. Resuming his quest with the Squadron Sinister to locate the Wellspring conduits, led to clashes with the Thunderbolts across the world, ultimately ending with Baron Zemo killing the Grandmaster and the Squadron Sinister disbanding.

Nighthawk decided to join Captain America's Secret Avengers and battle against the Pro-SHRA forces until the death of Goliath, prompting Nighthawk to defect from Cap's group and register[106]. Nighthawk joined Iron Man on an attack at the Wakandan embassy in New York against anti-registration heroes, being defeated in combat by Storm and the Falcon.

Following the end of the super-hero Civil War, Nighthawk joined the 50-State Initiative, entering training at Camp Hammond. After his initial training, he clashed along his fellow trainees with the terrorist organization Hydra[124]. Kyle was ultimately tapped to join Henry Gyrich's Shadow Initiative and tried to convince Constrictor into joining[125]. He was also present in the battle against the insane KIA, getting knocked out in the battle[126]. Following KIA's defeat, Nighthawk gave out Purple Hearts to all those Initiative members that were injured in battle, with the exception of the former Nazi Wernher von Blitzschlag.

With the deployment of Initiative created teams, Nighthawk tapped a number of heroes to start a new team of Defenders, seeking to recruit some of his old teammates and convincing Gargoyle after battling the Brothers Grimm. When proposing the idea to Iron Man, it was refused as Stark had already tapped a new team for him including Blazing Skull, Colossus, and She-Hulk who Nighthawk convinced to join after she beat the Scorcher in battle. They were the Initiative team in charge with policing New Jersey, and clashed with with the Sons of the Serpent. Their lack of team work battling the Serpents and the Aztec demon they summoned caused plenty of collateral damage and injured S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Kyle also took on U-Man and the Brand Corporation, growing increasingly frustrated with this new Initiative version of the Defenders[95]. He was caught in a time travel incident wherein he learned that the man he hit-and-ran years ago was Yandroth and that he had set in motion the events that led to the first teaming of the original Defenders to stop Yandroth's Omegatron. With the aid of a future incarnation of the Defenders, Nighthawk helped in defeating the Omegatron and its constructs of the Squadron Sinister before returning to his own time. With the Initiative Defenders disbanded, Nighthawk sought to recruit a new team that would operate outside of the Initiative.

During the Fear Itself event, Nighthawk formed a team called the Fearsome Four with She-Hulk, Frankenstein's Monster and Howard the Duck to stop the Man-Thing who found himself driven to an uncontrollable rage, caused by the immense levels of fear generated by the Serpent's hammer-wielders across the world. They faced various alternate universe heroes and the Psycho-Man, brought to Earth by the Man-Thing's connection to the Nexus of All Realities. The four were eventually able to confront their own fears and calm the Man-Thing, bringing an end to his rampage and saving the world, before going their separate ways.

A Skrull impersonating Kyle was killed by an alternate universe's Nighthawk. It is unrevealed if Kyle was or is currently abducted in order for the impostor to perpetrate the infiltration.

HISTORY:
Eve Eden grew up in the idyllic Kansas suburbs with her brother Larry, father Warren, and mother Maureen. When Eve and her brother were young, their mother introduced them to the Land of the Nightshades. Maureen had been the Queen of this mystical realm, but she was banished by a villain called Incubus. Their father was never told, as he would not believe her. Maureen received word that Incubus had been killed, and took her children home, but this was just a ruse. They were attacked by Incu-Demons who kidnapped Larry and mortally wounded Maureen. Maureen told Eve she had the power to become living shadow and open portals to any location she could see in her mind. Eve returned home, forced to leave her dying mother. Her father Warren was devastated by the loss of his wife and child, so he grew distant and later became a senator. This was when Eve found religion, as her priest was the only one who would listen. Eve returned several times to try and rescue her brother, but could not fight Incubus. The last encounter damaged her powers, so it hurt to become a living shadow. To rebel against her father, she moved closer to him in Washington, D.C. and became a notorious party girl. Eve needed more experience to fight Incubus, so she approached King Faraday at the CBI. Faraday agreed to hire her as an unofficial agent, and she worked with him as the costumed hero Nightshade. During this time she took down several super-villains including Black Spider, Image, and Punch & Jewelee. Amanda Waller learned of Nightshade and asked her to become a member of Task Force X. Nightshade agreed, on the condition that she could use the team for one personal mission.

Nightshade began working undercover for the Suicide Squad. Her first mission was infiltrating the terrorist group Jihad in Qurac by posing as a villain named Chimera. The Jihad massacred an airport of civilians in their first demonstration, and Nightshade is horrified at being an accessory to this crime. This led her to angrily slap Rick Flag for not warning her. Nightshade used her teleportation powers to distribute Suicide Squad members throughout the Jotunheim fortress, allowing them to destroy the Jihad. When Belle Reve was attacked by the Female Furies of Apokolips, Nightshade tried to fight Bernadeth but was easily defeated. Nightshade extracted the team after they discredited the racist vigilante William Hell at a white power rally. The Suicide Squad went undercover in Moscow to rescue imprisoned author Zoya Trigorin, and Nightshade was their transportation. They were discovered by the Russian army, and her powers were stretched to the limit avoiding capture. Nemesis revealed that he had feelings for her, but Nightshade said she has feelings for Rick Flag. Her exhaustion leaves them unable to escape, and they have to make a daring helicopter extraction.

Nightshade became field leader when they were sent to take down drug czar Xavier Cujo in Colombia. The team was discovered, and Nightshade had to fight through a jungle of communist guerillas.[9] Nightshade took Enchantress to destroy Cujo's drug stockpile, and Enchantress turned on her. The two women engaged in a brutal fistfight, but Nightshade put Enchantress in a chokehold and forced her to submit. Nightshade worked with Flag to disobey Waller, and they launched an unauthorized rescue mission to get Nemesis out of Moscow. They battled Justice League International, and Nightshade pretended to fight Captain Atom, who she had recently begun dating. They tickled each other instead.

Eve stayed with the Squad up until the end, she then went back to work for Sarge Steel at the CBI.

Nightshade worked alongside Superboy and the Ravers and was also part of the L.A.W. She was under the control of Gorilla Grodd for a while, trying to capture Superman for a $1 billion ransom.

Nightshade re-emerged as a member of Shadowpact. She had been paired with Detective Chimp, resulting in some good-natured bickering. She joined a legion of magic-based characters battling against the Seven Deadly Sins. However, she was captured by Felix Faust and eventually used by Lex Luthor to bring back Earth-Two.

Nightshade and the other Shadowpact members entered the town of Riverrock, Wyoming, which was shielded from the outside world. She met a villainous counterpart named Sister Shadow. Since then she served with the Shadowpact battling a host of magical villains. It required some measure of concentration for her to form elaborate darkness constructs, when she and her partner Ragman were attacked by the Congregation. As a result she was unable to conjure her more elaborate darkness creatures until Blue Devil managed to get The Congregation away from her. Despite this Nightshade and her teammates found themselves blinded by The Congregation's light power, and for the first time in her life she experienced what darkness was. With the assistance of Madame Xanadu, Shadowpact set about restoring Nightshade's sight, although it took several days before it was fully restored.

HISTORY:
Dwayne Taylor was the son of Darryl and Melody Taylor. Dwayne's father was a member of a military unit fighting in the Vietnam War, which discovered the secret Temple of the Dragon's Breadth. At the temple, a sorceress named Tai captured the six soldiers and forced them to take part in a "pact:" to marry six of her daughters, and give her their mystically-powered offspring to use for her own nefarious purposes. Darryl Taylor refused to participate in the pact because he already had a wife back home. Darryl's unit commander Andrew Chord and the other soldiers submitted to the Pact, however, and Tai sought revenge against Darryl years later. She mentally forced Andrew Chord to murder Darryl and Melody in front of Dwayne. Tai then stepped in and manipulated Dwayne's mind, clouding his memories so that he only remembered his parents dying, not who killed them.

Tai and Chord became Dwayne's guardians, and nurtured his desire to avenge his parents' deaths by becoming a living weapon against crime. They oversaw the day-to-day activities of his father's company, the Taylor Foundation, while Dwayne trained for his mission. As the uncostumed urban vigilante called Night Thrasher, he met two other fighters named Midnight's Fire and Silhouette, who wanted to stop the gang activity in their neighborhood. None of them were aware at the time that Fire and Sil were long-lost children of the Pact, born to Chord and Tai's daughter, Miyami.

Thrash and the siblings teamed up against the gangs for several weeks, and Thrash and Sil began a relationship. When Fire and Thrash oversaw Sil posing as a drug mule during a buy, however, a street cop happened across the meeting and pulled his gun. Midnight's Fire pulled a blade, and Thrash thought he intended to kill the cop. While the two friends struggled, one of the drug runners pulled his own gun and ended up shooting Silhouette in the spine. Midnight's Fire was furious, and blamed Dwayne for what happened. He slashed Dwayne across the face with his blade and ended their friendship. Dwayne didn't know if Sil was alive or dead after that, and he commissioned Chord to help him build a suit of armor to deal with superhuman criminal threats like Midnight's Fire.

Recalling how well he worked with Fire and Sil in better days, Night Thrasher brought together the New Warriors, a group of 6 teen heroes who were trying to find their place in the world. However, Dwayne often found himself at odds with the team due to his extreme stance on crime. He met Silhouette again and learned she survived the gunshots, but was left crippled from the waist down.

When the Warriors' ethics got in the way of finding out the truth about his past, Thrash angrily "disbanded" them to seek his own answers. When Tai and Chord encouraged Dwayne to form the Warriors, what he did not realize was that his team was meant to replace the original 6 Children of the Pact as sacrificial lambs for the Well of All Things. At the same time, 4 of the 5 "offspring," Midnight's Fire, Smiling Tiger, Bloodstrike, and Silk Fever, were brought together by Diego Casseas, the Left Hand, a member of the original military unit who had altered Tai's plans by stealing his daughter's powers. Diego brought this group together as the Folding Circle, and even convinced Dwayne to join in a promise to answer all the mysteries of Dwayne's life. The truth was that Diego merely wanted to kill Tai and sacrifice the Warriors to get the power himself, but his plan failed. The Circle would again fight Dwayne later on, and Dwayne has a special hate for Fire, who betrayed his own sister Silhouette.

Dwayne befriended Elvin Haliday, Rage, when he was kicked off the Avengers for being too young. Dwayne identified with the young African-American man, so full of anger, who just wanted to make things right. After Elvin's grandmother was killed by the Poison Memories gang, Dwayne became his legal guardian.

After he returned to the team, he again abandoned them when their ethics got in his way. This time his departure caused a tragedy, as Namorita was abducted and mind-controlled for months while Thrash and Rage were off serving their own agenda. The Warriors voted him off the team for this.

After Dwayne was kicked off the Warriors, he brought together his team's old enemies, Psionex, and tried to turn them into a super-hero team. While the members truly did want to help the world, they were too uncontrollable and "psychotic" to be of much help. Thrash eventually quit the team and rejoined the Warriors, and Psionex's fate is unknown.

Dwayne officially 'retired' from being a hero, but stayed semi-active while running the Taylor Foundation. He sought to use the family business to make the world a better place in ways his fists and armor couldn't, and became heavily involved in cancer research. He hand-picked a staff of microbiologists, one of whom developed what seemed to be a cure for cancer. The cure for cancer turned out to have actually been the work of the biologist's mutant son, who'd used his powers to 'tell' the cure what to do, which shattered the Taylor Foundation. Dwayne salvaged what he could of the Foundation, and ended up adopting the scientist's mutant son Microbe after the scientist killed himself trying to prove his cancer cure worked. Wishing to reactivate the Warriors, Thrash approached a television production company to bankroll and promote the team, packaging their adventures as a reality TV show, and reassembled the Warriors, plus Microbe, to travel the country hunting supervillains that are hiding in small towns.

The New Warriors faced off against Nitro, Coldheart, Speedfreak and Cobalt Man in Stamford, Connecticut for their reality show. During this scuffle Night Thrasher fought Coldheart side by side with Namorita and watched her trying to take down a fleeing Nitro. However as Nitro was slammed against a school bus, he activated his power and caused a massive explosion, killing the present New Warriors (except Speedball) and almost everyone around that area.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, a new team calling themselves the New Warriors appeared. They were recruiting underground, undiscovered, and de-powered heroes who strongly disagreed with the Superhuman Registration Act. Initially believed to be Dwayne himself, somehow having escaped death, this Night Thrasher was later revealed to be his half-brother, Donyell, having taken up his legacy. When these New Warriors disbanded and Donyell joined an incarnation reminiscent of the original team, the team continued their anti-Initiative actions. Following Norman Osborn's takeover of the nation's defense systems, including the Initiative, these New Warriors helped former Initiative members Tigra and Gauntlet escape capture and became known as the Avengers Resistance. While serving with this team, Donyell was approached by the Hood, who offered him a cloned version of his brother, and the promise that he could place the original Dwayne's soul into the clone's body, essentially recreating the original Dwayne Taylor. Donyell was torn over this decision, and the situation ultimately came to a head during the Resistance's assault on Camp H.A.M.M.E.R., the new base for the Initiative training program and secretly the Hood's control center.

In reality, the Night Thrasher never died at all. He was pulled into the future a moment before he would've been killed by Nitro's explosion by the Collector, who was using the power of the Iso-8. From then on, Night Thrasher became an unwilling participant of the Collector's "Contest of Champions" against the Grandmaster for the Iso-Sphere, which was being waged in the alternate reality known as Battlerealm.

Not long after Night Thrasher's arrival, the Collector's and the Grandmaster's assistants, the Maestro and the Punisher, put in motion a plan to rebel against their masters. After acquiring the Iso-Sphere for himself, the Maestro became the god of Battlerealm, and imprisoned the participants.

The Ultimates from the mainstream universe arrived to Battlerealm after having investigated the disappearance of other super-humans who had been brought to Battlerealm for the Contest. When he transported the Ultimates back to their universe, Maestro used the opportunity to return Night Thrasher with them instead of White Fox, aware of the problem that Taylor posed for his plans in Battlerealm.

HISTORY:
Dick Grayson is a vigilante in the Batman Family and the original hero known as Robin. Eventually he outgrew this position and was inspired by Superman to become Nightwing, while Jason Todd and Tim Drake succeeded him as Robin. Following the disappearance of Bruce Wayne, he succeeded his mentor to become Batman with Damian Wayne as his Robin during Battle for the Cowl. Bruce's return allowed them to both wear the mantle as part of Batman Incorporated, although Grayson has since then returned to his Nightwing costume in Traps and Trapezes.

Dick Grayson was a twelve-year-old circus acrobat, the youngest of a family act called The Flying Graysons of The Haley Circus. Dick joined the act at a very young age, having been trained in acrobatics from birth. While on tour in Gotham City, he overheard "Boss" Tony Zucco, a well-known and feared crime-lord, threaten the performers unless the circus's owner paid extortion money. The owner refused, and that night Dick watched in horror as his parents' high wire snapped, sending his parents hurtling to their deaths, all while many of Gotham's elite watched on. Young Dick felt responsible, because he didn't warn his parents in time.

Shortly after the tragedy, Dick was placed in an uncaring juvenile services system, on the grounds that social services were full. He got beaten up by a number of the inmates, and he was later sent to a Catholic orphanage. Bruce Wayne rescued Dick by adopting him as his ward, because the boy did not want to replace his deceased father with the billionaire. Frustrated by the lack of attention from his new guardian and the mystery still surrounding his parents' death, Dick sneaked out of Wayne Manor one evening to solve the crime on his own - only to stumble into Batman, who was also investigating the murder. When Dick returned to the circus, he was confronted by Zucco's business associate, Eddie Skeevers who nearly killed Grayson, but Dick was saved thanks to Batman's intervention. After waking up in the Batcave, he is shocked to learn that Bruce is really the Batman. They succeed in revealing Zucco's complicity, but he supposedly dies of a heart attack before his arrest. Seeing a reflection of himself in Dick; that he could temper compassion with a thirst for justice, Batman made the young orphan the offer of a lifetime; the chance to become his crime-fighting partner. Dick chose the name Robin, and his training began. Dick's first mission alongside the Dark Knight involved battling The Hangman in Gotham's sewers, and then Two-Face and the rest of Batman's Rogues Gallery at the Batcave.

They swore an oath late that night that they would fight together against crime and corruption, never swerving from the path of righteousness. Batman had realized for the first time that he did not have to be alone in his crusade.

Robin's origin had a typological connection to Batman's in that both witnessed the crime-related deaths of their parents, creating an urge to battle the criminal underworld. This provided a bond and understanding between the two.

Bruce taught Dick fighting techniques and detective skills for a grueling 6 months. Finally, Dick had to pass a final test - "the Gauntlet". Dick had to elude the Dark Knight on the streets of Gotham for one night - from sunset to sunrise - without any outside help. Dick succeeded, simultaneously bringing Gotham gangster Joe Minette to justice. Dick took to the streets as Batman's full-fledged partner in crime-fighting: Robin, the Boy Wonder.

Dick enjoyed his first year as Robin, regarding the job as an adventure until a confrontation with Two-Face served as a rude awakening for the young hero. Two-Face had captured the new District Attorney and Batman, and had each suspended from a hangman's noose in a 'double gallows death-trap'. Robin, in trying to save the D.A., used a batarang to cut the rope of the noose. It worked, but Robin didn't account for Dent's obsession with the number two -- it was a two-fold trap, and the floor gave way, dropping the D.A. into the water, where the man drowned. Robin was unable to prevent his death, and received a beating at the hands of Two-Face. A beating witnessed by Batman, still tied up on the platform trying to free himself. Eventually, Batman was able to free himself and apprehend Two-Face. This event, however, scarred the young crime-fighter, and haunts him even today. Rather than see Dick be further endangered, Batman "fires" his partner, sidelining the Boy Wonder for a time.

The formation of the Teen Titans mainly happened due to the sidekick's mentors making them feel lesser of themselves, which they quickly knew wasn't right about them. Dick, along with Wally West (Kid Flash), and Garth (Aqualad) teamed-up; later on, Donna Troy (Wonder Girl) joined the team along with Roy Harper (Speedy).

Together, they cured the heroes from their mind control; later, their mentors (Batman, Flash, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman) supported the idea of the teens becoming a heroic group, the Teen Titans! Dick became the leader of this team.

Eventually, the team would disband when they grew older.

Dick continued his adventures with Batman, but Robin started to take on solo missions as well, and found himself to be a capable crime-fighter in his own right. Shortly afterward, the mysterious Raven summoned Dick Grayson, and several other young heroes, to form a new group of Titans. Robin again resumed leadership, and moved out of the shadow of the Batman. Dick rediscovered his self-worth among the Teen Titans and he also found love in Starfire, a beautiful alien who joined the team shortly afterwards. Dick handed over leadership of the Titans to Wonder Girl.

At the age of 19 and after six years of being Robin, Dick was shot in the shoulder by the Joker, and this prompted Batman to end his sidekick career for good. As a result, Dick moved out of Wayne Manor and attended college at Hudson University, but dropped after the first semester. Meanwhile, Dick continued working with the Teen Titans, but his identity as Robin was no longer fit for him and he soon adopted a new identity.

Uncertain what to do, he turned to someone he knew would understand: Superman. Very briefly, Dick had considered giving up the whole crime fighting gig, but he couldn't imagine his life any other way; but if he couldn't be Robin, who would he be? Superman had the answer. Long ago on Krypton, a man was cast out by his family - just as Dick had been. He dreamed of a world ruled by justice, and set out to protect the helpless of Krypton. His true identity was never revealed. He was known only as Nightwing.

The Post-Crisis version of Grayson had him become the first and only Nightwing, with his costume partially inspired by his father, who at one time wore a circus costume that was a variant of colleague Boston Brand's Deadman costume.

When all his teammates were captured by Deathstroke the Terminator, and delivered to the HIVE, Dick assumed a new identity of Nightwing and helped to free them, with the help of new ally (and future Titan), Jericho.

Nightwing had finally moved out of the shadow of the Bat, and would lead the Titans through some hard times. Dick endured brainwashing at the hands of Brother Blood, his relationship with Starfire would suffer due to her marriage of state, he would be deeply affected by the fact that Batman trained a new Robin (Jason Todd) only for him to be seemingly killed at the hands of the Joker.

Bruce and Dick remained at odds with each other, never fully sorting out their strained relationship. After leaving the New Titans, Dick was searched out by Tim Drake, a long-time fan of the Dynamic Duo, who wanted Dick to return as Robin. Dick refused, but he noticed Batman's need for a partner. Although Nightwing assisted Batman in capturing Two-Face, they both required assistance from Tim Drake, who adopted the Robin identity in order to help them. After weeks of persuading and proving his potential, Dick then returned to the Batman to plead Tim's case, with help from Alfred. Due to their arguments and the realization that the Batman needs a Robin, Tim Drake became the third Boy Wonder.

Soon after, various members of the Titans were abducted by the Wildebeest Society. This event shook up the team in a big way. The group entered into tumultuous times, where members came and went, longtime friends were maimed or destroyed, although Dick persevered through it all, and remained the heart and center of the team.

But his relationship with Starfire became strained, and problems in Gotham demanded Dick's attention. Impulsively, Dick proposed marriage to Starfire. The two almost wed, but the ceremony was interrupted by Raven, now reborn as an evil avatar of her father, Trigon. Her brutal attack on Starfire triggered changes in Dick and Kory's relationship. Starfire was implanted with a demon "seed" which causes her to leave Earth and go on a spiritual journey. The two grew apart, and Starfire eventually returned to her home planet of Tamaran.

Eventually, Nightwing learned that Bruce was taken down by Bane and that he had chosen a total unknown called Jean-Paul Valley in his place as Batman. While Nightwing didn't agree with the decision, he trusted Bruce's judgement.

Unfortunately, months later, that judgement call proved to be wrong and a recovered Bruce Wayne summoned Nightwing to Gotham City, to help him take down Jean-Paul, who had gone rogue while wearing the mantle of the bat. While Bruce trained to regain his lost skills, Nightwing and Robin teamed-up to find Jean-Paul. The two of them went to the Batcave and placed surveillance equipment to monitor all of Jean-Paul's activities. After this, they were shocked to see Jean-Paul acting as a madman, talking to himself alone in the cave. They decided to tell Bruce about Jean-Paul, but when they found Bruce, they witnessed how he apparently killed one of his opponents as part of Shiva's training. However, they soon learned that it was all a ruse to deceive Shiva and Nightwing joined Robin to prepare the Batcave for Bruce's final comeback.

Robin and Nightwing joined Batman on his final confrontation with Jean-Paul, but they were sidetracked by the bodyguards of Penn Selkirk, who were trying to kill Catwoman. After dealing with them, they witnessed the fight between Bruce and Jean-Paul until Bruce was apparently killed inside an exploding Batmobile and they were confronted by Jean-Paul, whose armor had turned red. Enraged after Bruce's apparent death, Nightwing attacked Jean-Paul and tried his best to defeat him, but his efforts were futile as he was overpowered by the maniac.

Still recovering from his broken back, Bruce asked Dick to substitute for him as Batman for a time; Dick accepted. During this time, Dick was able to confront Two-Face and lay some demons to rest. He also established a wonderful partnership with Tim. Bruce eventually returned to Gotham to reclaim his role as Batman. For the first time in a long time, Bruce and Dick began to heal their strained relationship. Bruce's respect for Dick was at last obvious.

Nightwing travels to London to convince Alfred to come back to working for them, and they foil a military coup together. Shortly afterward, Dick decides to retire from crimefighting since his brief stint as Batman made him realize he does not want to be Bruce. He gives his costume to Bruce and tells him to get rid of it. His attitude changes when he learns that Prince Balsik of Kravia might have been responsible for the murder of his parents. Harold Allnut makes Dick a new improved Nightwing suit. In Kravia he helps overthrow the trannical Balsik and also learns that his parents witnessed an assassination shortly before their deaths. Balsik sends the assassin Goode Ole Bernie to kill Dick, but Dick beats him. Ultimately Dick learns that Balsik was not responsible for the death of his parents, but the experience makes him remember how important being a hero is to him. He reconciles with Bruce, saying Bruce and Alfred are the best family he could have hoped for, and returns to his role as Nightwing permanently.

Batman calls in Nightwing when the Apocalypse Virus breaks out in Gotham. He teams up with Huntress and Robin to stop rioters from burning down Babylon Towers. When Robin is revealed to have been infected, Nightwing carries him to the Batcave's medical facilities. They resign themselves to Gotham dying when nothing works, but Azrael figures out a cure and saves everyone. Batman and Nightwing leave Robin to deal with the remaining looters once he's finally cured.

They later realize that the virus was never cured, only mutated into a dormant state. Nightwing accompanies Batman and Robin to look for a cure in Sudan during Legacy. Ra's al Ghul is revealed to be responsible, and they fight through an army of assassins to reach him. Nightwing holds his own in a sword-fight against Ra's, but he loses and Ra's escapes. Nightwing and Robin travel to Paris, where they team up with Henri Ducard to stop Ra's from releasing his plague into the Louvre. While Batman destroys the plague in Gotham, Nightwing pursues Ra's with Robin and Huntress. They catch up to his boat The Shrike, and Ra's prepares to execute Grayson. Robin finds the cure, then rescues them as the boat explodes.

Investigating a crime in nearby Blüdhaven, Nightwing saw that the city was just as bad, if not worse, than Gotham. With no one to protect Blüdhaven, and a need to forge his own path as a hero, Nightwing decided to relocate there.

This was the beginning of a long, uphill battle for Dick Grayson. He fought many victorious battles in Blüdhaven as its protector, and certainly made it a safer place, but he never won the war. The city, and his losses, took their toll on Nightwing, leading him to eventually adopt a grimmer outlook on being a hero.

The Titans and Young Justice are approached by a corporation named Optitron who want to achieve a massive tax write-off by completely funding them, but Nightwing angrily dismisses the idea as "selling out." They're also attacked by an android named Indigo who hospitalizes a third of both teams, although Cyborg insists that she is not hostile. In the aftermath, Nightwing broods in the hospital over his failures as a leader. The Indigo android continues her rampage and accidentally releases a broken Superman Robot from S.T.A.R. Labs who murders Omen when they try to approach it. Nightwing coordinates the team to fight this robot, but they're badly beaten and Indigo doesn't defeat it until after it's already slain Donna Troy. Following her funeral, Nightwing angrily tells Arsenal that he can't see another friend die and he's disbanding the Titans.

Three months after Graduation Day, Arsenal approaches Nightwing with the idea of rebuilding a team that they're not emotionally attached to. This team of new recruits includes Grace Choi, Indigo, Jade, Metamorpho and Thunder operating out of a bomb shelter under Brooklyn. Their first mission is an invasion of super-intelligent gorillas led by Gorilla Grodd in Manhattan. This is revealed to be a ruse engineered by the Joker to kidnap and torture President Luthor, although they stop him before he can kill the President. In the aftermath, Nightwing explains to Batman that he's tired of being a reactionary hero and wishes to make his team proactive hunters as the new Outsiders.

After the incident in which Nightwing contributed to the death of Blockbuster, a great gang war broke out in Gotham, forcing Nightwing to return and help Batman. However, Tarantula followed him to Gotham and Nightwing was set responsible for her actions. Tarantula's presence caused Nightwing's relation with Barbara to have some troubles.

Nightwing was summoned at the Louis E. Memorial High School, where a shootout between several gangs was taking place. Nightwing infiltrated the building along with Batman and Batgirl and they eliminated all the thugs who were helding students hostages. Nightwing was exposed to the public eye when Batman carried out of the school the seemingly dead body of Darla Aquista.

A few days later, Nightwing was contacted by Batman and sent to deal with a situation on a nightclub. There, he came across Robin, who was looking for Nightwing to ask him a piece of advice. Nightwing's guilty conscience over Blockbuster's death kicked in and caused Nightwing to collapse in the middle of the battle until Robin rescued him. After recovering, Nightwing went to Chinatown and stopped a gang battle, right before the massive blackout in Gotham.

Nightwing was among the members of Batman's team outside Robinson Park, when the "War Games" plan was foiled by Black Mask and he had to face several criminals along the GCPD until he was called inside the park to aid Batman. Nightwing races Batgirl to the battlefield and they arrive almost at the same time. After the battle was over, Batman sent Nightwing to the West Side of the city, where he battled Firefly until they were discovered by the police. One of the officers shot Nightwing in the leg and the wound caused him to pass out. Nightwing was located by Alfred and taken to the mobile batcave, where he healed Nightwing and prevented him from joining the final battle at Oracle's Watchtower.

After a brief recovery, Nightwing joined Batman and they struck against an illegal operation at the docks. The ship was bombed and they chased down the new criminal known as Red Hood until he went inside a warehouse, where Batman and Nightwing were confronted by Amazo. Nightwing was able to hurt Amazo and distract him enough for Batman to deal more damage. In the end they destroyed Amazo and looked for the pieces of him on the Gotham Harbor. After this, they followed the trail of Kryptonite radiation and found Mr. Freeze fighting Red Hood. Nightwing fought Red Hood, but was unable to capture him.

Nightwing refuses to join his recently resurrected friend Donna Troy as she journeys to New Cronus with several heroes. He instead adopts a new villainous costume and persona in order to infiltrate Lex Luthor's Secret Society of Super Villains and seemingly attempt to trouble it from the inside. Under Deathstroke's employ, he trained Slade's daughter Rose, the newest Ravager.

Deathstroke betrays Nightwing when Blüdhaven is destroyed by the Society. The Society drops the super-villain Chemo on the city, killing 100,000 people. Dick tries to rescue survivors, but is overcome by radiation poisoning, only to be rescued himself by Batman. Nightwing confides that he let Blockbuster die and asks Batman to forgive him. Batman tells him that his forgiveness doesn't matter; Dick has to move beyond Blockbuster's death. Inspired by his mentor, he proposes to Barbara Gordon, who tearfully accepts his proposal with a kiss.

Batman then entrusts Nightwing to alert other heroes about the danger that the Crisis poses. Dick flies to Titans Tower, but the only hero who answers his call is Superboy (Conner Kent). Together, they locate and attack Alexander Luthor's tower, the center of the Crisis, only to be repelled by Superboy-Prime. Prime is ready to kill Nightwing when Conner intervenes, sacrificing himself to destroy the tower, ending the destruction of the Universe.

Saved by the Justice Society, Nightwing recovers with Barbara at his side. As soon as he's able to walk again, Batman asks him to join him and Robin in retracing Bruce's original journey in becoming the Dark Knight. While Nightwing is hesitant, due to his engagement with Barbara, she encourages him to go and returns his engagement ring so he can make an honest decision for himself. Barbara feels that it is important he re-discover himself, and until he does, they're not yet ready to be married. They part on good terms, though before he departs, Dick leaves her an envelope containing a photograph of them as Robin and Batgirl, along with the engagement ring on a chain and a note promising he'll come back to her one day.

As his journey with Batman and Robin began, Nightwing found himself with Robin trying to capture criminals associated with Intergang and they travelled across Europe, taking them down. After a while, Nightwing returned to Gotham, following Intergang's trail. He worked with the new Batwoman and Renee Montoya to stop Intergang from destroying Gotham, shutting off dozens of fire spewing devices spread across the city.

One year later, Dick Grayson returned to New York City (his previous home base with the Teen Titans) in order to find out who had been masquerading as Nightwing. The murderous impostor turned out to be the former Robin, Jason Todd. Grayson lead the Outsiders once again, operating undercover and globally.

Nightwing followed an armored thief named Raptor, who he suspected was responsible for a series of murders. Later, Raptor himself was murdered in a manner similar to the other victims by an unseen contract killer, who proceeded to bury Grayson alive. Nightwing freed himself, but wondered about the relationship between his experience and a mysterious voice who told him that he was "supposed to be dead". Nightwing was having trouble finding things to keep him busy during the day due to the cast on his right arm. Incapacitated from his injuries, he tried without luck to find jobs and continued to research into the mysterious assassin.
At one point, Dick agreed to attend a party for Bruce Wayne and their relationship seemed to flourish. Bruce praised Dick for his success on the Raptor case, and also mentioned to look into the Landman Building which hosted ex-Lexcorp scientists; most likely those who worked on the Raptor project. Dick had also continued to keep a close brotherly relationship with Tim Drake, and helped him deal with his many losses during the past year.

After dealing with the Raptor issue, New York City was plagued by a villainous duo called Bride and Groom. Nightwing begins pursuit of these two after some grisly murders, including that of the Lorens family (close friends of his after the Raptor incident). Dick grew obsessed with finding them, not knowing how far he was willing to go to take them down. Eventually, he formed a makeshift team with some "villains" to find them. They located them, and after killing some of his "team", Nightwing chased them to a cave, where Bride began a cave-in and the two were trapped there.

Some time later, Nightwing disassociated himself from the Outsiders, turning the responsibility of leadership over to his old mentor Batman. He then reunited with his alma mater the Titans after learning about a vicious attack wrought against Cyborg's impromptu Titans East trainees. Along with Beast Boy, Cyborg, Donna Troy, Flash, Raven, Red Arrow and Starfire, Dick discovered that the perpetrator behind this attack was the spawn of one of the Titans' deadliest villains – Trigon.

Nightwing and Robin put away the Wonderland Gang and after this, Batman warned them about Hush's return. A few days later, Nightwing and Robin were summoned to the Batcave to confront Hush and put an end to his evil scheme.

Shotly after, Nightwing was attacked by a couple of henchmen disguised as Roman warriors, but he defeated them easily. Robin contacted him and told him about the Club of Villains and they arranged a meeting. However, Nightwing was attacked by Scorpiana and after she captured him, he was taken to Arkham Asylum, where Guy Dax locked him away. Soon, Nightwing was drugged and moved to an operation table by Scorpiana in order to be lobotomized by Dax. Nightwing recovered just in time to stop Dax and Scorpiana from hurting him and to aid Batman fight the Black Glove in Arkham Asylum. Nightwing retrieved the cape and cowl from Arkham's rooftop after Batman's apparent death.

Unable to find Batman, Nightwing returned to the city, where he unleashed his frustration on some street criminals. Upon his return to the Batcave, Nightwing learned of Batgirl's plan to create a new team to replace Batman and he didn't liked the idea at all.

Nightwing returned to New York, where he was contacted by Two-Face, who asked Nightwing to save Carol Bermingham and keep her safe from an unknown threat. Nightwing rescued Carol, but he was badly injured. After recovering, Nightwing took Carol to one of Batman's safehouses and he went to the Batcave seeking Alfred's medical attention. Alfred healed Nightwing from his wounds and after a brief recovery, Nightwing went back to Carol and took her to one of his safe places in New York, but the place was soon attacked by all of Batman's greatest enemies. Nightwing realized that it was all an illusion created by Scarecrow's Fear Toxin as Alfred informed him earlier. Nightwing fought his deepest fears and managed to overcome the illusions, just to find that Two-Face was behind it all. Nightwing failed to save Carol from Two-Face and the villain escaped. After a few days, Nightwing saved New York from Two-Face's ultimate plan to destroy half of the city of Manhattan.

It is later revealed that Nightwing actually managed to save Carol and faked her funeral to trick Two-Face. Nightwing made sure that Two-Face was locked in Arkham Asylum and after a brief encounter with the Justice League, he went back to New York, where Deborah informed him that she was moving out of the city, ending their relationship. Dick then decided to perform what he called "the great leap" and he ascended to the stratosphere and dived back to Earth, breaking several world records. Aftewards, Dick enjoyed a nice movie evening at Wayne Manor with Alfred and Tim, but always missing Bruce's presence.

While mourning Batman's disappearance, Nightwing was contacted by Ra's al Ghul. Nightwing travelled across the world to meet him and after learning of Bruce's death, Ra's started a sword fight which Nightwing won, without killing his opponent.

Nightwing was forced to return to Gotham when Two-Face reappeared in the city and someone scarred Millicent Mayne's face. However, Nightwing didn't find Two-Face and instead, was knocked unconscious by Gracchus and left to die in a burning building. After being rescued by a pizza delivery boy, Nightwing refects on his mistakes and learns from them. Nightwing then learns about Mayne's fate and he located the woman in order to capture Gracchus and his thugs.

Nightwing finally decided to move back to Gotham definitively and after rebuilding the Batcave, he resumed his crime fighting career, to honor Bruce's memory. Shortly after, Dick met Barbara for her birthday and as a present, he took her on a plane ride and together they skydived, which made Barbara really happy.

Shortly after, Nightwing witnessed Robin's victory over Lady Shiva and he was responsible for taking her to prison. Later, Nightwing and Robin were contacted by Catwoman and she informed them that she had captured Hush, who was impersonating Bruce Wayne. Nightwing and Robin travelled to Vietnam and retrieved the villain, taking him back to Gotham and locking him in a secure cell at the top of Wayne Tower.

In the wake of Bruce Wayne's disappearance, Gotham was thrown into chaos by a new Black Mask who destroyed Arkham and took control of its inmates using microchips. Nightwing rallied Batman's Network to stop the gang violence, but in the midst of the increasing violence, a new Azrael appeared and Nightwing became aware of his presence. When Azrael broke into the batcave, Nightwing confronted him and they started a sword fight. Nightwing defeated Azrael and returned him to his apartment, where he placed the Suit of Sorrows and the swords attached to a note allowing him to work in Gotham and later he informed this decision to Talia. Refusing to take the mantle of the bat, Nightwing learned of the destruction of Arkham and during his investigation, he saved Damian from a certain death, but in the end they were confronted by Jason Todd, who had started wearing his own crooked version of a batsuit.

Grayson fought Todd, but Damian was shot in the chest and Nightwing took him to the Batcave, where he finally realized that he was the only man fit to wear the cape and cowl. However, he learned too late that Tim had taken one of the batsuits from the cave and went to fight Jason, by himself. Secret Six members Bane, Catman and Rag Doll in a Robin costume showed up to help out in Batman's honor, but Nightwing banished them for murdering terrorists. Later, Nightwing organized The Network to go after Black Mask while he tracked down Jason. After a long battle against Jason, Nightwing managed to defeat him, claiming back the mantle of the bat and Dick became Batman with Damian Wayne at his side as Robin.

At Bruce Wayne's private funeral, Dick announces that they cannot allow Batman to die and his legend must continue. Alfred Pennyworth helps him build a new Bat-Bunker so he can make the identity of Batman his own, and Dick begins his career by taking down Scarecrow.

He makes an immediate impression as a more media-friendly Batman who allows crime scenes to be recorded so his convictions stick. When he goes after the Penguin, Black Mask intervenes by sending Clayface and Lyle Blanco as hitmen. Two-Face breaks into the Batcave using a teleporter and tries to confront Batman as an impostor, but Dick convinces him otherwise. His first mission with Damian Wayne as Robin involves Professor Pyg and the Circus of Strange, who they stop from spreading drug addiction like a virus and turning people into Dollotrons. They continue to struggle with Hush posing as Bruce Wayne, and begin keeping him under constant guard to stop him from damaging the Wayne Foundation. Firefly betrays Black Mask to satisfy his pyromania and Zsasz uses the Broker to construct a gladiatorial abbatoir.

Tim Drake believes that Bruce is still alive, and leaves Gotham as Red Robin to look for clues in Europe when Dick won't support him. They test the mettle of Stephanie Brown as the new Batgirl when they're attacked by Roulette. He also observes Batwoman taking down the Religion of Crime, although he allows her to operate independently. The Riddler gains his respect when they work together on a case involving Conundrum. In an encounter with Booster Gold, he's briefly erased from history by the Black Beetle and then restored. Aqualad visits him for advice on how to handle Atlantis after losing his mentor Aquaman. His new identity is also shown to affect Starfire, who still has romantic feelings for him. When Vigilante arrives in Gotham, they fight and then arrive at a mutual understanding. In his first team-up with Azrael and the Question, Robin is kidnapped and they go after a religious cult named La Saligia.

Black Mask remains cornered by the National Guard in Devil's Square with his mind-controlled False Faces, but he plans to threaten the city with experimental toxins using his Ministry of Science including Doctor Death, Fright, Hugo Strange and the Reaper. Mario Falcone returns to Gotham after many years and tries to take organized crime back for the Roman Empire, although Batman eventually burns his estate down. The Penguin hires a young thief named Kittihawk who plagues Batman, although she eventually becomes Catwoman's sidekick and takes the name Catgirl. Eventually Batman is forced to lead a frontal assault on Devil's Square using the Network, and he exposes Black Mask as the newly insane Jeremiah Arkham.

Batman and Robin meet a foreign crime-fighter Oberon Sexton who begins assisting them. Jason Todd returns as Red Hood with a new sidekick named Scarlet and begins violently executing criminals. Red Hood attracts the attention of the Penitente Cartel and their top-level enforcer El Flamingo, who nearly kills them before Batman has Todd arrested. While Arkham is incarcerated, Batman visits him for help in one of Black Mask's homicides but Arkham's schizophrenia is too far gone and he is still evil.[96] Batman and Robin assist Azrael when investigation into the Religion of Crime uncovers new leads in the death of his siblings Gwendolyn and Marion. When Humpty Dumpty finds the corpses of children in the river, it leads them to Zsasz's gladiator ring which Robin and Abuse take down from the inside.

Zombies rise in Gotham when power rings turn the dead into agents of the Black Lantern Corps. The reanimated corpses of Abbatoir, Blockbuster, Deacon Blackfire, KGBeast, King Snake, Magpie, the Trigger Twins and the Ventriloquist lay siege to GCPD Headquarters. Batman, Red Robin and Robin ally with Deadman and Etrigan during this crisis. Dick is forced to confront his resurrected parents John and Mary Grayson trying to kill him, but the heroes survive by freezing themselves.

Eventually Dick decides to reanimate the corpse of Bruce Wayne in a Lazarus Pit, traveling to London where he fights King Coal and the Religion of Crime with Batwoman, Knight and Squire. This goes horribly wrong when it's revealed that the corpse was not Bruce Wayne, but an insane clone made in the Evil Factory during Final Crisis. They stop the clone from killing Alfred and Damian with the help of Colonel Kane, and Dick acknowledges that Bruce Wayne must really be alive somewhere.

In the aftermath of Blackest Night, Donna Troy and Hal Jordan rebuild the Justice League inviting Batman into their membership including The Atom, Congorilla, Cyborg, Doctor Light, Green Arrow, Guardian, Mon-El and Starfire.

Grayson and Damian made an excellent job as Batman and Robin and as such, they attracted the unwanted attention of Vicki Vale, and Dick was forced to turn her attention away. However, this only caused her to focus her attention even more, which was bad for Batman and Robin as a new vigilante appeared in Gotham; a man only known as the Insider. Upon his return to the present, Bruce Wayne has turned the concept of "Batman" into a global operation known as "Batman Incorporated", after revealing to the press he has been "funding" Batman all these years. Dick has retained the the Batman identity despite Bruce's return to the mantle. He continues to operate as Gotham City's primary defender with Damian Wayne continuing as his Robin. He has also joined the current incarnation of the JLA.

When several murders are committed with old super-villain weapons, Dick begins pursuing a villain known as the Dealer. He infiltrates the Dealer's headquarters Mirror House and finds a dark cult, although he's quickly discovered and drugged. Escaping through violent hallucinations, he returns and takes the Dealer's plane down when he tries to leave Gotham.

James Gordon, Jr. returns to Gotham after many years and is rejected by his family as a psychopath, although he requests a recommendation from Dick to work with Leslie Thompkins. Commissioner Gordon suspects that his son is a murderer, and hunts down old leads with Batman's help.

Tony Zucco's daughter Sonia Zucco is targeted by super-villains, and Dick agrees to help her as she's become a legitimate businesswoman. This leads him to a weapons dealer named Roadrunner who tries to kill him in a car-crusher. The real culprit is a pirate named Tiger Shark who gets away because Sonia manipulated Batman into dealing with her other enemies. Dick meets with James Jr. and gives him a good recommendation, although it's revealed that James is still torturing people.

The Commissioner discovers his son plans to drug a nutrition facility and turn thousands of infants into future psychopaths, while the Joker escapes simultaneously. Dick goes after the Joker when Barbara Eileen is attacked with toxin, but the Joker only wants to fight his own Batman and insists he didn't commit the assault. James Jr. finally kidnaps Oracle to murder her, and Dick rescues her at the last moment but it's left unclear whether or not he was able to save the nutrition facility.

HISTORY:
When Thor came to High Evolutionary on Mount Wundagore, he thought this was the perfect time for a shave and upon doing so one of High Evolutionary's New Men brought him a hair from Thor's shaved head.

The High Evolutionary wanted to create a new race of immortals to serve as guardians for both his New Men and Mount Wundagore. At first the process seemed like any other cloning with the cell tissues, but he was more interested if indeed a new god could be created. Count Tagar wandered if Nobilus would be a wrathful god or gentle one. This was quickly answered as Noblius was born with a clinched fist.

In some unknown period of time after Loki manipulated Nobilus into a berserk rage one the High Evolutionary saw as childish and imprisoned him until the godling matured. Nobilus saw High Evolutionary as his father as much as Thor knew Odin to be his. Stellaris saw potential in Nobilus and freed him from his cage in order to have him help her fight the Celestial, during another rampage he came to blows with the Knights of Wundagore and a passing Thor, who was yet unaware of his identity.

Luckily for all them Stellaris took Nobilus and flew to fight the Celestials. In this distant planet the Celestial were about to create another one of themselves from the Black Galaxy. During the process the High Evolutionary arrived with his New Immortals and Thor to battle Nobilus, who was defeated. However the High Evolutionary upon realizing that he was imperfect compared to the Celestials had a mental breakdown and Nobilus took care of him. Upon the Celestials leave, all of them returned to New Wundagore. There they were attack by the twelve survivors of Counter-Earth who had been turned into cyborgs by Omega. Nobilus came to crash on a planet and was defending High Evolutionary from the twelve survivors now known simply as They, then Adam Warlock came to his aid. It was then revealed that Omega was no other than Man-Beast.

After some time Nobilus found Sif and Balder in the New Wundagore, Nobilus being a good boy brought them to Count Tagar who made a pact with the gods who agree to help search for High Evolutionary. During their search they found both High Evolutionary and the Analyzer who were witnessing the Celestials studying Ego. Upon their departure High Evolutionary he went to study Ego himself. Sif was wandering if indeed Nobilus was the missing Thor but the answer soon became clear when Nobilus flew into a rage; he was not Thor. As High Evolutionary studied more of Ego and the newly born Celestial from the Black Galaxy, he explained that Ego-Prime soon would come to claim his other part. Nobilus pleaded with High Evolutionary to come back but he wanted to study more, Sif then knocked him unconscious and proceeded to take them all back.

After regaining his sanity somewhat the high evolutionary thought to create a new race of gods who would become the "Godpack" feeling abandoned and unloved and seeking to take his rightful place as a god he lead the new immortals against their "father". The high evolutioanry was no match for his creation and fled to earth to gain aid. In his fathers absence him and his fellow gods set themselves up on new Orion. From here they organized rock men to attack earth and thor as well as ally with new god Luminor to lead his teammates into a trap.

Once there he met thor in battle and easily defeated him thanks to a combination of his lightning abilities and forcefeild. When thor fled he thought that victory was at hand but instead he was still opposed by Blitzania and the new gods. When thor returned with Loki however they defeated him by depleting his powers and shattering his confidence.

Realizing the error of his ways the high evolutionary placed him and his fellow new immortals into stasis and laced them aboard the wundagore 3 hoping that one day he would be free of his evil taint and could rise as the god he was meant to be.

HISTORY:
Daughter of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch, Nocturne inherited her father's blue fur, three-toed hands and feet, a tail, yellow eyes and pointed ears. As a second-generation mutant, however, Nocturne also developed her own abilities.

Talia grew up with the X-Men, who at this time consisted of: Team Leader Wolverine, who would not engage in active combat as he was mortally injured; Field Leader Nightcrawler; Shadowcat, who was later in an chrono-displacement accident and was replaced with her younger self just after she joined the X-Men; Thunderbird; Phoenix, the Phoenix force inhabiting the empty body of Colossus; and Armageddon, the son of Apocalypse.

Nocturne became a full member of the team and was romantically involved with James Proudstar. For a long time she lived in her father's shadow, and he trained her very hard, often at the expense of her feelings. When Cyclops attacked the mansion with his Exiles, T.J. was out with Kitty Pryde. Upon returning and seeing the attack; however, T.J. was able to rally the students to help delay the attack, and then possess Armageddon, a telekinetic, to free Wolverine and seriously injure the insane Cyclops. Having proven her skills and ability, she was able to reconcile somewhat with her father.

T.J. later was the first member of the Exiles to become "unstuck in time," but she has never assumed any kind of leadership role, and maintained her freewheeling attitude. Over time, she became intimate with the Exiles' own Thunderbird, and became pregnant with his child. One of her most difficult missions was the trial of Phoenix Force, in which she had to fight an alternate incarnation of her "Aunt Jean," and had to ignore that world's version of her father during that difficult time.

Outstripping that by far was the mission to a Skrull-dominated Earth-5692, in which she and the others were forced to fight in gladiatorial combat against other super-beings. That mission ended with the arrival of Galactus and Thunderbird's self-sacrifice to save the world. Due to the stress of losing her lover, T.J. lost the baby a few weeks later, an incident she kept secret for weeks. She has became withdrawn and depressed, and refused to talk about her feelings.

Over time, T.J. healed and became a mainstay of the team. On her first visit to Earth-616, she met and bonded with Nightcrawler, who thought that her parents' pairing was intriguing. Later, T.J. was left behind on Earth-616, and was about to knock on the X-Mansion and see her "father" again when Exodus intercepted her and made her another offer.

A few months later, Nocturne showed up as a member of Exodus' Brotherhood during an attack on Philadelphia. While her teammates were mostly homicidal, Nocturne did her best to keep civilians out of harm's way. The X-Men defeated the Brotherhood, prompting Exodus to attack the X-Mansion, using Juggernaut as his ace in the hole. Juggernaut recognized T.J. as a hero and seemingly beat her to a pulp. In fact, T.J. told him she was trying to figure out Exodus's motivations and Juggernaut told her he was also undercover. When the fighting actually started, Nocturne was able to possess Black Tom Cassidy, the most dangerous foe, long enough for him to be swept into the black hole in Shen Xorn's head along with the rest of the Brotherhood. Unfortunately, Nocturne and Juggernaut were swept into the black hole too.

Nocturne and Juggernaut subsequently ended up on Mojoworld, where they were sold to Mojo himself. Nocturne was able to possess Spiral and force her to open a portal to Earth, where they emerged in the Danger Room; however, though T.J.'s possessions usually knock her hosts out for 24 hours, Spiral was faking, and she kept the portal open to allow Mojo to follow T.J. and Juggernaut back to Earth. Spiral changed them and the X-Men to babies, except the newly-resurrected Psylocke, but the X-Men managed to defeat Mojo and regain their rightful forms.

An alternate version of Nocturne was sought after by Callisto's Marauders for having royal Magnus blood as a result of being a daughter of the alternate Scarlet Witch, but was protected by Psylocke and Marvel Girl. Marvel Girl allowed T.J. to possess her in order to keep her out of the Marauders' reach, but Nocturne ended up taking control, and in a confused daze, flew up and out. Psylocke pursued, eventually culminating in a telekinetic blade battle, which Psylocke won. This allowed Marvel Girl's own consciousness to resurface.

After the House of M reality warp, Nocturne joined New Excalibur, alongside Juggernaut, Sage, Dazzler, Captain Britain, and Pete Wisdom.

T.J. eventually suffered a stroke while working with New Excalibur, resulting in numerous aftereffects including memory loss, partial paralysis, and the inability to speak. As she worked to recover, she continued to help her teammates, and saved many lives during the battle against Albion by possessing one of his Shadow-Captains.

Nocturne ultimately learned that her former lover, Thunderbird, was no longer comatose, and after defeating Mad Jim Jaspers, reunited with the Exiles. Nocturne and Thunderbird then went with Blink to Earth-3470 so that Sasquatch could help T.J. continue to recover from her stroke.

Once T.J. completely recovered from her stroke, she returned to the Exiles, and briefly merged with the Crystal Palace alongside Heather and Morph, before she took charge of the team while Blink was off recruiting new members.
