Presumably at the same time, given how long the "Threeboot" lasted. She could've been Bukake Lass.

I'll admit, I'm partial to keeping her in her Lightning Lass identity and giving Star Boy full on Gravity Control, especially since both her and Garth having lightning powers just strengthens their connections and makes their whole interactions more fun. But . . . well, I'd probably make her Lightning Lass outfit some variant of this one, because it's doing some really nice things to her legs.

Total: Abilities: 36 / Skills: 8--4 / Advantages: 12 / Powers: 24 / Defenses: 9 (85)

-Kid Psycho is a classic weird one-shot character emblematic of DC's Silver Age- he was born a mutant as a result of his parents getting some radiation thrown at them, and got Mind-Over-Matter Powers as a result. However, his powers had a HUGE flaw- each use of them would lower his life expectancy by one year (how they discovered this I have NO idea), and so he was rejected for Legion of Super-Heroes membership. He went into the past (casually, I guess...?) to implore Superboy to speak on his behalf, and he did- the Legion promised to use him only for emergencies. However, even DARKSEID unleashing three billion Daxamites on the universe wasn't enough of an emergency, as Legion writers basically felt free to just ignore this goofy concept and character (the giant head & turban wasn't a help, I would imagine).

-But of course, there was ONE story where he'd be perfect- see, for their magnum opus, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Marv Wolfman & George Perez had basically created a situation where every creative team had to "Sacrifice" a character to their big story- the gigantic storm of character deaths would help make this one of the most important stories of all time. Many creators were REALLY annoyed about this apparently (though I haven't read enough about that era to know the specifics), particularly when Wolfman & Perez copped out of their end of the bargain by creating a Titan JUST to die in their Teen Titans book (this would be Kole, who was around for like half a year or something). But the Legion writers, who apparently couldn't pick one of 26 people to off, instead trotted out "Emergency Member" Kid Psycho, who tried to save some people in France with his powers, but got knocked out and was killed by the oncoming Anti-Matter Wave in the series' opening issues. Which is a REALLY admirable cop-out, when you think about it- answering a "Whatever happened to?" question while snipping off some of the excess characters while they're at it.

-Kid Psycho appears in neither the Reboot nor Threeboot continuities, and he's only seen as a past member in the Post-Infinite Crisis books.

-Kid Psycho appears to only have one single ability- a Psychokinetic Force Field that will sap his life force with each use (which could probably be a -2 Flaw too, but since he's a one-shot guy, it doesn't matter so much). Pretty useless overall, though good in a team battle. Alarmingly poor at stopping All-Devouring Anti-Matter Waves, though.

Once I learned about his existence -- thank you Hero Histories! -- I was surprised that Kid Psycho didn't show up in the Oh So Nineties "SW6" Era or the grim-n-gritty "Teeanage Rebellion" re-re-reboot. The guy's name just seems perfect for either period, comics in the Nineties were nuts for telekinetics-who-never-used-their-powers, and so forth.

Obviously, he'd have needed a new costume and a normal-sized head.

Yeah, "Big Head" guys in comics almost always look foolish-Sinestro didn't take off as a villain until that elongated forehead depiction got toned way down, and the Leader only got some cred after Peter David altered ole Sam Sterns appearance into something more monstrous.

By the bye-from what little I read, Kid Psycho's force fields were supposedly on the level where even Superboy would have had trouble breaking through them, and he could cover a pretty wide area with them as well. Now, that would definitely be a case of "it was told, not shown", so I have no real idea if actual LSH writers ever depicted the poor guy having any good showings.

All my best.

The Legion didn't like Kid Psycho because he was too self-important. His powers gave him a swelled head.

Total: Abilities: 44 / Skills: 24--12 / Advantages: 13 / Powers: 20 / Defenses: 14 (103)

Matter-Eater Lad- Most Problematic of Legionnaires:
-Horsenhero mighta said it best, last time I posted the Legion:
Matter-Eater Lad...sigh. Together with some of the powers trotted out during "Legion try-outs", he exemplifies the reasons most readers who might've started picking up the Legion titles...didn't.

Not that I'm against silly characters...but even I have limits.
-Poor ol' Matter-Eater Lad pretty much slam-dunks the title of Worst Superhero Name in History without even really trying, and as such, the fifteenth member to join the Legion has had a love/hate relationship with the team and DC comics for decades now. His name is basically the living embodiment of Silver Age goofy-ass storytelling and asspulls, which is either great or awful depending on which side of the fence you sit. I mean, I can understand the glee and joy of those bizarre stories, but as an adult, you cannot read comics with a guy featuring this name and power set and enjoy it on a natural level, especially when parts of the story are supposed to be taken seriously. I mean, he comes from a world where the people evolved the ability to eat stuff because all their food became poisonous somehow. IT'S SILLY. Sometimes that's a glorious thing, and can make for some fun stories when they embrace it, but like Horsenhero said... it's hard to convince people to pick up Legion of Super-Heroes comics, when you have to drop names like "Matter-Eater Lad".

Silver Age Matter-Eater Lad:
-Matter-Eater Lad joined the Legion shortly after Bouncing Boy did, and has an unrequited crush on Shrinking Violet for the duration of his time on the book. He appears only rarely, as the writers clearly struggled with using his idiotic powers in regular situations. One method of writing him out was that his native Bismollians would constantly draft him into political office thanks to the fame being a Legionnaire brought him. Eventually, one of the writers just got sick of him entirely (He was TOO STUPID... For SILVER AGE COMICS), and he went insane after eating the supposedly-indestructible Miracle Machine. For years, he was considered one of Brainiac-5's "White Whales", as he just could not be cured of the insanity, no matter what.

-Eventually, Brainy managed to cure Tenzil, and he saved Bismoll from a hostile takeover, alongside the Legion of Substitute Heroes. Keith Giffen, no stranger to goofy comic books, decided to have fun with the character once he got sole running of the series, turning Tenzil into a rebellious multi-media celebrity, who is constantly re-elected despite wasting taxpayer money on extravagant vacations. "Trust me, I'm a senator" is a constant refrain. I dunno... whatever sense of humor Giffen has, it's the opposite of what I got.

-Tenzil eventually rejoins the Legion in the "Five Years Later" era, helping free the team from the Dominators and their control of Earth. He even seduces and later marries the villainess Saturn Queen (!!). This continuity eventually dies, after Tenzil meets the Matter-Eater Lad of the "SW6" Clones.

Later Matter-Eater Lads:
-Tenzil reappears in the "Reboot" era, but only as "Support Staff", generally under-powered and never on missions. Here, he is the team's personal chef. Probably an ideal role for someone with such silly powers. Here, he could spit acid. In "Threeboot", he appears as a minor Legionnaire, but does manage to bite the pointer finger off of Lightning Lord out of spite. In the Post-Infinite Crisis rendition, he appears a couple of times, acting undercover on Earth to help out Mon-El in Metropolis, as well as being part of R.J. Brande's team sent to the 21st Century to save the future.

Matter-Eating As Powers:
-Not much of a fighter or super-hero, Matter-Eater Lad could be upgraded easily just by making his "Bite" power more devastating. As it is, he can basically tear through almost any material easily, BUT can only do it to small bite-sized chunks. It's essentially a Weaken Toughness power on inanimate objects. Of course, he can also bite off fingers if necessary, which makes him an offensively-balanced PL 7. He's a bit low on everything (and if it wasn't for that Flight Ring, he'd be ULTRA cheap), but not ENTIRELY useless. In the "Reboot" era, he could Spit Acid (Ranged Weaken Toughness & Damage 4- Secondary Effect, both have Diminished Range), but was a non-combatant.

Tenzil is the man. Most of my favorite characters from the LSH weren’t actually on the team (Laurel Kent, Night Girl, Polar Boy) but Matter-Eater Lad was on the official squad and he was awesome.

He knew that most people thought that his powers were a joke, so he played up to that image and didn’t let it bother him. In fact, he usually used it to his advantage... But, in truth, his powers were actually incredibly potent (just ask the Miracle Machine) but he nevertheless was happy to play the fool.

. . . so Giffen will use Matter-Eater Lad as a regular character, but Karate Kid is the stupid Legionnaire that needs to die . . . no, save it, save it for later . . .

Me personally, I have to admit that with ME-Lad, you pretty much need to just embrace the silliness of the character. And lets be honest, there are people that silly. I can see Tenzil just realizing his power is silly on the surface, so he embraces it, doesn't take himself seriously, and has fun with it. I can see him picking his Matter-Eater Lad name just to be silly, and have him as the team clown. Even the big tooth on his SW6 costume was perfect.

I mean, Hell, he disarmed The Persuader.

He basically is immune to poisons and toxins, the acid spit idea is a good one, and he basically has a disintegration attack in his mouth. A Legion hopeful from Tenzil's planet, Calorie Queen (see, there are equally dumb names out there), had been augmented by her father's experiments so that she hyper-metabolized whatever she ate, converting the excess energy into enhanced strength. Maybe instead while he's hyper-metabolizing something he gains enhanced durability, so that he has some kind defense. Or maybe a combo of enhanced durability and speed so he can "eat faster" and pull off almost cartoonish stunts. It's Matter-Eater Lad, you may as well have fun with it.

So yeah, Matter-Eater Lad has people defending him. Go figure.
