New rule: Anyone making a horrible pun must also accompany it with a picture of a MILF.

Ken alone will soon drain the entire internet of MILF pics :).

Also, apparently nobody cares about poor Sleepwalker.

THE SOUL SKINNER
Created By:
Fabian Nicieza & Andy Kubert

Role: Villain of the Week, Mind-Messer-Upper
PL 12 (208)
STRENGTH
2 STAMINA 4 AGILITY 3
FIGHTING 5 DEXTERITY 2
INTELLIGENCE 1 AWARENESS 1 PRESENCE 2

Skills:
Deception 3 (+5)
Expertise (Survival) 5 (+6)
Intimidation 2 (+4)
Perception 4 (+5)
Stealth 2 (+5)

Advantages:
Ranged Attack 2

Powers:
"The Skinner of Souls"
"Mind-Shredding" Mental Blast 10 (40) -- [41]
  • AE: Illusion 8 (All Senses) (Flaws: Will Save Allowed) (32)
"Soul Skinner Form" Morph 1 (Green-Skinned Monster) [5]

"Soul-Skinning" Affliction 12 (Will; Dazed/Stunned/Transformed to Mindless Husk) (Extras: Continuous +3, Area- 60ft. Burst +2) Linked to Mind-Reading 10 (Extras: Area- 60ft. Burst +2) (Flaws: Limited to Shames and Regrets) [102]

Offense:
Unarmed +5 (+2 Damage, DC 17)
Mind-Shredding -- (+10 Perception-Ranged Will Damage, DC 25)
Soul-Skinng +12 Area (+12 Affliction & +10 Mind-Reading, DC 22 & 20)
Initiative +3

Defenses:
Dodge +8 (DC 18), Parry +5 (DC 15), Toughness +4, Fortitude +6, Will +4

Complications:
Power Loss (Soul-Skinning)- The Soul Skinner's powers do not work against children, as they are too innocent to have felt suffering like he has had.
Obsession (Pain & Regret)- The Soul Skinner feeds off of the pain of others. The X-Men? Meeting a guy who FEEDS OFF OF ANGST? It... doesn't end well for them.

Total: Abilities: 40 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 2 / Powers: 148 / Defenses: 10 (208)

-The Soul Skinner is part of a one-off story in Fabian Nicieza's X-Men run that really furthered Colossus' story instead, despite the Russian hero being a member of the other X-book, featuring the Gold Strike Force. Here, inexplicably, he was hanging around with the Blue team, going back to visit his parents in Russia. The Soul Skinner was a Russian mutant who hid his powers from the government to avoid detection, but they in fact had sent an agent out to act in deep cover by marrying him (huh-huh, now that's what I call DEEP cover). However, when their daughter died of some childhood illness while she did nothing to help (presumably by getting her bosses to help out), he freaked, uncovered her duplicity, and then killed her with his mental powers. Soon freezing the minds of everyone in his small Russian town, he overpowers first Darkstar & Alexi Garnoff (Russian super-heroes), then Omega Red himself (then a new, fresh villain only a few years from his Jim Lee origins). The X-Men are thus called in to investigate, with Colossus leading the charge.

-It was kind of a "Cute Pastoral Story" with Peter hanging out with his beloved sister (then de-aged back to childhood) and his normal parents, contrasted with The Soul Skinner's overly-morose angsting about how awful his life is and obsessing over the pains others feel (Nicieza REALLY liked morose rambling- it was easily his biggest flaw as a writer in this time period). The Soul Skinner soon easily defeats the X-Men using all of their pain and regrets against them (including Psylocke's lust for Cyclops- showing her fantasies of her all cowgirl-style on him and stuff! Teen Jab certainly appreciated the shot of her towel-clad body just out of the shower, too), but Colossus & Psylocke formulate a plan to absorb all the innocence of the children in town (immune to the Soul Skinner's powers because of it), and zap the guy with them, thus ending his threat.

-HOWEVER, the Russian government, being EVEN MORE EVIL than Marvel's American Government, created their own plan to teleport him to another dimension. To do this, they kidnapped a young Illyana and tried to jumpstart her then-latent Limbo Teleportation Powers, murdering her & Colossus' parents in the process! Colossus FREAKS, everyone gets all despondent, and soon the X-Men's government liaison shoots the Soul Skinner through the head, just in case he ever returns. This led to Illyana ending up back in the X-Mansion, where she would quickly die due to the Legacy Virus. Thus, you can trace back ALL of the horrible, horrible stuff that happened to Colossus in this era (his parents, Illyana dying horribly, him joining The Acolytes and finally committing suicide to save all mutantkind) to this storyline right here. The refridgeration of his parents seems out-of-place and just adding on the angst, which was kind of the calling card of 1990s X-books, when you get right down to it.

-The Soul Skinner is EXCEPTIONALLY dangerous, effortlessly wiping out Darkstar, Garnoff, Omega Red, Iceman, Wolverine, Cyclops (whose SHEER, RAW ANGST was like a filet mignon to a pain-eater like our boy here- it distracted him so much it led to his downfall), Jubilee and an entire town, Permanently changing them into controlled husks (Omega Red essentially becomes his slave, while most are just Incapacitated). And I mean, can you imagine fighting the X-MEN with a power that works better when angsty people surround you? That's like being a Nu52 DC villain who gains power from shitty writing.

Nothing compared to Mortal Kombat, but I wasn't expecting something like that on somethings that looks somewhat kids friendly.

I do like her design, but the big sting out of her but only looks good on a fight.

- For what I have read Morrigan and Felicia had their personalities switched. Felicia was the seductive one. Kind of make sense they change it. I mean, not making the succubus the seductive/sexy one?

- In B.B. HOOD ending, she's shown as the equivalent of the Bogeyman for the Darkstalkers' kids.

- In one of the animes Hsien-Ko and her sister travel together hunting Darkstalkers. Before Hsien-Ko started fighting, her sister transformed into the piece of paper on Hsien-Ko's head (don't know the name of it).

In doing the list research, Sleepwalker was kinda creepy. His supporting cast even more so.

Mei-Ling (or Lin Lin in Japan) turns into an Ofuda. It's a Buddhist talisman. In this case it let's Hsien-ko move about without the stiffness associated with Jiang-shi. I believe Mei-ling in transforms for some special moves in some games.

-Stalker comes from a Marvel Comics Presents story featuring him following around The Wasp under orders from her sleazy agent, Harlan, who wanted to create publicity for his client. However, Harlan had no idea just how messed up the kid really was, or the nature of his power- Stalker was a mutant, and his obsession grew to major levels. He lured Wasp to him (after humiliating her by showing a "hologram" of her naked body, and animating the wires around her home), and he threatened her with his ability to absorb all of her Wasp's Stings, but she eventually overloaded him and convinced him to give up. She then promptly fired her agent.

Total: Abilities: 54 / Skills: 32--16 / Advantages: 6 / Powers: 38 / Defenses: 8 (122)

-Snowblind is a random loser in Deathwatch's organization in the 1990s Ghost Rider book. His gimmick is that he's a blind martial artist who can only see within a sphere of magical brightness that only HE can see through. And is also super-strong, because reasons. Though only a PL 8 build, he is extremely dangerous given that his foes are almost constantly disabled when fighting him. He is eventually killed by Deathwatch, Hag & Troll for his repeated failures in slaying the Ghost Rider.

Dodge +8 (+10, +12 Spider-Sense, DC 22), Parry +7 (+10 Spider-Sense, DC 20), Toughness +7, Fortitude +8, Will +11

Complications:
Enemy (Everyone)- Peter has amassed a truly horrifying amount of enemies over the years, to the point where his Rogues Gallery is easily as large as those belonging to entire teams. His worst enemies include Dr. Octopussycat, Eelectro, The King-Pig, and more. He has fought every supervillain in existence at least once.
Reputation (Spider-Ham: Threat or Menace?)- Peter is mistrusted at best by the general public, no matter how many people he has saved. The police frequently chase him, and no matter how many freaking times a super-villain disguises themself as Spider-Man and commits a crime, the people of New York will automatically believe the lies and chase him. The freakin' Rhino could be in that costume and they would buy it.
Rivalry (J. Jonah Jackal)- Peter's boss, the volatile newspaperman, has a major mad-on for Spidey over all other superanimals, and relentlessly hunts for signs he's gone bad. Aside from this, JJJ is a classic "no-nonsense" newscanine.
Power Loss (Web-Shooters)- Spider-Man runs out of Web Fluid whenever the GM demands it. Always at the worst possible time. Especially if he makes a super-big Web thing. Spidey's GM is an asshole.
Responsibility (That Porker Luck)- Peter's luck is famously bad- getting sick will often lead to TWO super-villains teaming up against him, instead of fighting just ONE.

Total: Abilities: 88 / Skills: 50--25 / Advantages: 22 / Powers: 65 / Defenses: 9 (209)

-The Spectacular Spider-Ham came about in a comedic 1983 comic written by Spider-scribe (and future Marvel Editor-In-Chief) Tom DeFalco- it only lasted 17 issues, and was released for the kiddie Star Comics imprint. He was born a spider, who was then bitten by May Porker, thus gaining... spider/pig powers. The book was full of animal-themed parodies of other Marvel characters (including the animal-themed ones, as Man-Bull became Bull-Frog).

-Oddly enough, despite disappearing in the 1980s, known only in a handful of one-offs since then (such as DeFalco including "Swiney-Girl", as Peter's daughter May gains her own powers analogous to Spider-Girl), Peter Porker rose to prominence in the Dan Slott-written Spider-Verse story arc, which featured Alternate Universe Spideys coming togethere. Here, he was actually one of the better supporting characters- portrayed as a serious character who had a deeper side, figuring out that the "standard" 616-Spidey was the best of them. The use of SPIDER-HAM as a serious character was, of course, a better joke that "LAWLZ HE'S A SPIDER-PIG!!!" ever could be. The success of the arc led to the repeated use of the character in books I didn't read, such as the mini-Secret Wars arc (that whole thing was really just extended Elseworlds titles, some better than others), then a role on Web Warriors, sprung from the same book- Alternate-U Spideys teaming up to save the new Multiverse.

-Spider-Ham is a complicated build, full of tons of weird powers and hard things to figure out... unless you've already DONE a Spider-Man build, at which point you can just throw the same build on this guy and call it a day. The Spider-Verse story and others establish him as good as most of the others, so I went with the PL 10 version- otherwise, you can stick him between PL 8 & 9 for his Joke-verse stories.

-And no, I'm not statting up his Rogues Gallery.
