HISTORY
Before World War II, the government established a secret group known as RONOL (Research on the Nature of Light). One RONOL member, Dr. Dayzl, theorized that the light that originated several millennia ago, where Earth now orbits, would eventually circumnavigate the universe and return as a dangerous, conscious entity.

The only way to stop the "Light Entity," Dayzl believed, was to talk to it. Tricking a reporter named "Happy" Terrill into joining them, Dayzl and his assistants staged an upper atmosphere ballooning "accident," making certain Terrill was exposed to a genetic "light bomb." Dayzl calculated that Terrill's offspring would be a unification of human and light energy, a potential liaison to the Light Entity. Unaware of the truth, Terrill used his resulting powers to become the super-heroic Ray. Simultaneously, RONOL lost government backing due to Dayzl's unorthodox beliefs. Dayzl's fate remains unknown.

He fought crime both solo and as a member of the All-Star Squadron, before eventually migrating to Earth-X to become a founding member of the Freedom Fighters. Decades later (kept young by the mystical presence of Uncle Sam), he moved to Earth-One for a time and had several adventures there, both with the Freedom fighters and alone, before returning to Earth-X following the Freedom Fighters' final battle with the Silver Ghost and the apparent death of Firebrand.

Terrill and his first wife, had a child named Joshua. For a time Joshua accompanied him on missions as his sidekick "Spitfire." However, Joshua was prone to violent outbursts, he was placed in suspended animation in the 1950's only to wake up again in the future, still only 10 years old. It was during this time that Terrill learned the truth about his involvement with Dayzl's experimentation, and vowed to quit his Ray identity.

In the 1970s, Terrill had a brief association with his old team, the Freedom Fighters. Later he would marry his second wife and settled down. Everything seemed normal until Terrill saw his newborn son glowing with crackling energy in the hospital nursery. Terrill was convinced Dayzl's theories were correct. He now knew his son would one day have the power to confront the Light Entity. Not wanting to put his wife through torment, Terrill told her that the baby had died, and then set up his son with a foster father (his brother Thomas).

Terrill sought Neon the Unknown, who was living in a magical oasis, for aid in saving his son. When Neon, completely detached from humanity, refused, Terrill drank from the waters of his oasis, becoming a "new" Neon the Unknown, and promptly changed his name to the simple Neon.

HISTORY
Jason Todd is the son of Catherine Elizabeth and Willis Todd, and was conceived unexpectedly in an alleyway. Jason had a troubled childhood due his parents constantly arguing; his mother suffered from depression and drug addiction, and his father had been "showing him the ropes of thievery and conning" at a young age, which led him into trouble.

Once when he was a child, Jason's father stole tickets to Haly's Circus from an old couple in a parking lot, and took Jason to see the show. That was the first time Jason ever saw Dick Grayson, and was positively awed by him.

Unbeknownst to Jason, he earned the attention of the Clown Prince of Gotham, who wanted to create and destroy a Robin to get to Batman. Because of the Joker's actions, Jason's father wound up in prison, where he would soon die. This left Jason to protect his mother for a short time before she succumbed to an apparent drug overdose. In actuality, the Joker poisoned her, making her appear dead. This left Jason an orphan, stealing to survive.

Jason would eventually make an attempt to steal the tires off the Batmobile, managing to get one off before being discovered by Batman. Expecting to be beaten for his crime, Jason was surprised to be offered food instead. He and Batman talked while eating, and Batman told him that sometimes, if you gave people a chance, they might surprise you. Jason would take these words to heart, even years later.

Batman attempted to help Jason by getting him settled in Ma Gunn's School for Wayward Boys, not knowing that the establishment was a front for training the children to be criminals. Despite this, Jason did see the place as a home for a while. Realizing his mistake though, Batman went to rescue him and Jason aided the hero by shoving Ma Gunn out a nearby window. Sometime after this, Batman decided to take Jason in personally and train him to be the new Robin, which Jason took to enthusiastically.

After six months of intensive training, Jason was out in the field as the second Boy Wonder. Jason was determined to live up to the legacy of Robin that Dick Grayson had put in place, but it soon became apparent that Jason was troubled. He fought recklessly, seemingly haunted by the memory of his father. Jason received mentoring from Nightwing on various martial arts and fighting techniques and met Roy Harper, offering to be his friend in the future should he be in need of one.

Being put on monitor duty due to his unruly behavior, Jason one day found a picture of his mother, Catherine, who was surprisingly alive. He used all his skills to make his way to the Middle East without telling Batman, in an attempt to reunite with his mother. It soon became apparent that Catherine was being blackmailed by the Joker, and had lured her son there for him. Jason learned that most of his major life events were orchestrated by the Joker, who then brutally beat the boy with a crowbar, and left him and Catherine to die at the hands of a time bomb. Batman arrived too late to save them due to Jason's skills in covering his tracks, and was only able to hold Jason's lifeless body in his arms.

Six months after his death, Jason would be resurrected by a mysterious cosmic event, however, suffocation in the grave and still sustaining his injuries from the Joker's beating, he was in a catatonic state until Talia Al Ghul used the Lazarus Pit to restore his mind. Jason would later remember seeing Talia looking down at him in fear as he was reborn. Afterwards, Talia took Jason to Ducra, the ancient instructor of the All-Caste, a group of warrior monks, and begged her to train the boy. Jason would develop a romantic attraction to Ducra's daughter Essence during the time.

After completing his training in the All-Caste which included management for his anger, Ducra wanted Jason to let go of his rage and move on, stating that 'One day your heart will shine brighter than the dark fury inside of you. And that day will be glorious'. However, Jason thought the only way to get revenge for what the Joker did to him was by rejecting his newly learned philosophies and teachings.

He eventually joined the League of Assassins, where he would be trained by Bronze Tiger and Lady Shiva. However, he disliked the fact that the group was not interested in justice like he was but merely in self gain. He would eventually leave the League of Assassins and pursue justice elsewhere. Jason resurfaced in Gotham as the gun toting vigilante Red Hood, having taken the alias that the Joker had used prior to becoming the Clown Prince of Crime. Back with a vengeance, Jason protected Gotham with his new brand of lethal justice.

In one of his missions, Jason was in a submarine and injured in an explosion, he washed up in the island where Starfire has made herself a recluse and was nursed back to health by her.

Bonding with Kori and one day find out that Arsenal would be executed in Qrac, Jason enlisted Kori's help and both rescued him, thus forming the "Outlaws".

An old acquaintance, Essence, contacted him to warn about the coming danger of The Untitled. They soon found that the Untitled had already annihilated former teachers of Jason's, the All-Caste, in one of their bases in the Himalayas. Vowing revenge, Jason led the trio to the All-Caste's headquarters, seeking out the Chamber of All. In this pool of history, they learned more about their opponent. Here, they were told to supply S'aru, a four millennia old proctor, with a cherished memory before entering. Jason's memory was an evening he and Bruce took off during his time as Robin due to Jason being too ill to fight. The trio then fought a rather large monster, and disposed of it with a fair amount of ease due to their building ability to work together. Upon leaving, Jason was offered his cherished memory back, however, he chose to leave it behind. Later, they found and destroyed a member of the Untitled in Middleton, Colorado. Essence returned that evening, revealing to Jason that she betrayed the All-Caste in favor of the Untitled due to her mother, Ducra, being possessed by them. However, she was swiftly defeated by the Outlaws as they returned to their quest.

Shortly after defeating Suzie Su in Gotham, the Outlaws intercepted a transmission asking all Batfamily members to help in taking down the Court of Owls. Jason reluctantly agreed and soon found a Talon attacking Mr. Freeze. He broke up the fight, but the Talon escaped while he and Mr. Freeze confronted each other. Jason tracked down the Talon to an empty Haly's Circus lot, where he had a heart-to-heart with the reanimated assassin. The Talon introduced himself as Xiao Loong, and asked Jason to end his life, which he did. Starfire and Arsenal defeated Freeze, and Jason delivered him to Batgirl, leaving Gotham soon after.

Jason, like the rest of the Batfamily, was requested by Dick Grayson to meet at the Batcave for a briefing. A few members expressed concern regarding him being invited, namely Damian Wayne, though Dick was quick to defend him. Bruce then informed them that the Joker had apparently discovered all of their identities and was planning on attacking them privately. Jason left, but was soon ambushed by the Joker and held captive, along with Tim Drake, at an unknown location. Here, Jason discovered that Joker had effectively been torturing him all his life. Apparently, the Joker had wanted to create a Robin who would cross the line Batman was unwilling to cross. Refusing to give further information, Joker then knocked the duo out. Later, they awoke with the rest of the Batfamily in the cave where they were gassed with the intent of them killing each other. However, they all managed to overcome the Joker's mind control through the love and trust they shared with one another. Scarred by what he had learned from the Joker and the events that had unfolded, Jason refused to meet up to find out whether Alfred was safe. Despite this, Jason and Bruce finally reconciled their differences after he discovered Bruce had waited by his bedside after Jason had a particularly dangerous and almost deadly chemical reaction to the Joker's gas.

Feeling his former protégé deserved a second chance, Batman offered Jason a place in Batman Incorporated as the second Wingman, only asking that he do not reveal his identity to the others. He teamed up with Damian Wayne, who operated under the name Redbird, though Damian was unaware of Jason's identity. Upon finding out who his partner all this time had been, Damian became hurt and confused. This was doubled by the fact that Bruce then informed him that he was to be benched as Robin until further notice. Despite the fact he was now a part of Batman Incorporated, Jason barely got involved with the team and was not present when Damian was killed. Jason did approach Bruce upon learning of the fourth Robin's demise and attempted to ease whatever pain he was feeling. However, upon finding his old mentor had surrendered to the cruel emotionless drive in his grief to bring Damian back, Jason once again cut himself off from the Batfamily.

After the events of Death of the Family, Jason went back to the temple of the All-Caste and had all painful memories erased from his mind by S'aru. This ultimately resulted in Jason having no recollection of his friends, enemies, allies, and experiences. Arsenal took him back to their base of operations, where he discovered what he had done and believed himself to be nothing more than a killer. Green Arrow arrived on their island to warn them of a large bounty on the Outlaws heads, but Roy began to panic, fearing that Oliver had led their enemies to them. Cheshire attacked them after seemingly killing Starfire and confronted Jason, telling him the League of Assassins had a bigger destiny for him. Before she could capture him, Kori attacked her and carried her off the island, before Cheshire teleported away. In the midst of the battle, Jason ran off in an attempt to find out who he really was.

While Roy visited Hugo Strange for therapy, Jason continued to drive off, but was attacked by several members of the League of Assassins. After his initial defeat, they asked him to go with them and assured him that they wouldn't kill him. He agreed, thinking that he may receive the answers he is looking for. They took him to 'Eth Alth'eban, the city of the League of Assassins, and Bronze Tiger told him this is where his new life would begin as the new leader of the League of Assassins.

Jason began to explore the ancient city. The League of Assassins gathered and told him that only he knew how to save the League from a threat called the Untitled, but he told them that his memory was gone, therefore he didn't remember how to defeat the Untitled. Lady Shiva threatened to take control, but as she did so, Roy arrived in the name of the Untitled to destroy the gates to the city.

Roy initially seemed to have the upper hand, but Jason and the League engaged and defeated him. Roy destroyed a wall of rock, revealing the "Well of Sins". Jason agreed to lead them, provided the League did not kill his friends. The Untitled breached the city soon after and began to engage the League. As the battle continued, Jason confronted the leader and threw him into the Well of Sins, taking his power away. He was killed and Lady Shiva rounded up the other members. As Jason displayed his disdain for Shiva's killing, the last member of the Untitled revealed himself to be Ra's al Ghul, and he resumed control of the League once more.

Jason was captured and chained soon after. He apologized to Roy and Kori for all he'd done and, as his friends were about to be executed, he gained his memories back. He and Cheshire freed the Outlaws and Jason entered the Well of Sins to face Ra's al Ghul. After initially being outmatched, Jason defeated Ra's and took his power away. Essence arrived and helped the Outlaws escape the city, arriving in the Chamber of All. She expressed her thanks and asked if Jason would join in the rebuilding of the All-Caste, but he declined and the three left the temple.

When the Joker returned to Gotham, healed from having his face cut off and seemingly immortal, he raised the stakes in his battle with Batman by infecting the entire city with deadly Joker toxin. With everything on the line, Red Hood and the rest of the Batman family, as well as a group of Batman's rogues, came together to help the hero stop the Joker from destroying the city. However, Batman and the Joker were seemingly killed beneath the streets of Gotham together, leading to a new status quo in Gotham.

Following the dissolution of the Outlaws, Arsenal struck out on his own. After helping Arsenal during a solo operation, Jason convinced Roy to work with him again. The duo set up shop in Roy's warehouse, until Jason found out that Roy was broke. To raise funds, they turned to fixer Tara Battleworth for a job. Though she disliked their reputations, she gave them a job in Paris. After taking down several criminal operations, the two found their target: a rogue S.H.A.D.E. scientist with a thumb drive containing sensitive Intel. Though his robot army gave them trouble, they managed to subdue him, get the drive, and earn their pay.

While on another job, Jason discovered that Roy had set up a Heroes for Hire service. In addition to Jason being against the idea of helping people for pay, it also forced Battleworth to cut them off. Jason also found he had no choice but to comply because Roy had spent all of their money again. Taking another contract, the two discovered the existence of Underbelly, the physical embodiment of all the world's corruption. When Underbelly tried to recruit Jason to his cause, the duo responded by destroying him. Realizing that Underbelly was a credible threat, Jason decided to take him down. Anticipating where Underbelly would go to recover, the two headed to the most crime-ridden city on the plant: Gotham. After Roy tracked down Underbelly, the two encountered the new Batman and convinced him to help them take down Underbelly. Out of gratitude, "Batman" let the duo go free. Once the deed was done, Jason visited the youth center he went to as a kid, and found that Bruce was alive. Though he didn't understand why Bruce didn't recognize him, he was satisfied to learn that he was alive.

After splitting off from Arsenal, Jason went back to his solo career and set up shop in an abandoned bomb shelter under a police station in Gotham. During this time, Batman asked him to investigate a new connection between city hall and a new international crime cartel. Over the course of his investigation, Jason learned that the mayor had been infected with a techno-organic virus. Jason cured the mayor under the guise of an assassination attempt in order to provide himself an in with the Gotham underground. This worked as he caught the attention of Black Mask, who he suspected of being behind the virus. Batman confronted Jason about the plan, and while initially against it, he eventually agreed on the condition that Jason not kill anyone. Jason agreed.

HISTORY
Red Ronin was developed with the assistance of Stark International by Japanese engineers and scientists Tamara Hashioka and Yuriko Takiguchi. It was intended to be used by S.H.I.E.L.D. against the monster Godzilla. Before it could be utilized for this purpose, the robot was stolen by Takiguchi's twelve-year-old grandson Rob. Originally referred to as SJ3RX, the robot was named Red Ronin by the youngster.

After an initial attempt to control the robot failed, Rob succeeded in piloting Red Ronin into battle with Godzilla, in an attempt to drive the beast off. Rob wished to prevent the radioactive creature from being harmed and his attempts to ward the monster off were designed to actually preserve his life. He succeeded in doing so and it was discovered that Ronin had been imprinted with Rob's brain patterns, making the robot useless without him to pilot it.

Rob used Ronin a few more times, aiding Godzilla in battles against creatures such as Yetrigar, Krollar, Rhian, and Triax. During one such battle, Rhiahn decapitated Ronin, leaving the robot inactive.

S.H.I.E.L.D. eventually rebuilt the robot with the aid of Stark technicians. One such technician, Earl Cowan, altered the robot so it would only respond to his brain patterns, similarly to how it had previously been linked to Rob Takaguchi. Cowan intended to use Ronin to orchestrate a series of events that would set off World War III. Fortunately, Cowan was completely ignorant of the shortest aerial route to the USSR and went eastward instead of going north and passed over New York City. This allowed the Avengers to intercept and defeat Red Ronin, and the robot's remains were carried off by S.H.I.E.L.D.

Stane International eventually gained possession of the remains. A scientist named Karaguchi Inoyawa rebuilt the robot, hoping to use it as a force for good. The robot was displayed by Stane at a trade show at the Pontiac Silverdome. While there it was commandeered by vengeful ex-Stane employee Joe Kilman who caused it to go on a rampage. This time Inoyawa guided the Wasp in deactivating Ronin.

Ronin eventually wound up in the hands of Fujikawa Electronics. It was altered to look more like a samurai in appearance. Numerous military and criminal organizations such as the Hand attempted to gain possession of the mechanoid, but were foiled by Wolverine and Sunfire.

When Red Ronin next appeared, it was used by Henry Peter Gyrich to lure the Avengers into a battle with the Thunderbolts.

Red Ronin appeared when Doctor Doom had Doctor Octopus reprogram it, so Doom could control it remotely. After easily taking down the Mega Morphs of Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Ghost Rider, it is defeated by the Incredible Hulk, whom Doom took over to assist in the prison break of Doc Ock, previously.

Red Ronin has since "joined" the Thunderbolts during the Civil War. Tony Stark mentioned working on that version and that the Fixer is likely all over it. Red Ronin was seen in Japan alongside Big Hero 6 and Otomo during the Japanese version of the Superhuman Registration Act.

HISTORY
Cliff Steele was an obsessive daredevil. He engaged in every extreme sporting event he could, from spelunking to racecar driving. He climbed the Himalayan Mountains, rafted down the Amazon River, and spent six months living in a tribal African village.

At one point in his career, Cliff became involved in the NASCAR circuit. He became a professional racecar driver and participated in the Indianapolis 500. The Indy 500 proved to be Cliff's final race however. During the race, his car slid through an oil slick and toppled over. The car exploded irrevocably destroying Cliff's body. A brilliant surgeon by the name of Doctor Niles Caulder volunteered to lend his assistance in the hopes of saving Cliff's life. Although his body was destroyed, Caulder managed to save Cliff's brain. He transferred the brain into a cybernetic body, and Cliff became known as Robotman. Caulder made arrangements so that his participation in the surgery remained completely anonymous.

When Cliff awakened in the hospital bed, he soon learned what had become of him. Faulty wiring inside of the Robotman systems had an adverse effect on Cliff's brain, driving him insane. He flew into a rage and began rampaging throughout the city streets. Niles Caulder eventually approached him and offered to cure Cliff of the affliction that was driving him to lunacy. He finally calmed Robotman down long enough to perform the operation.

After the operation, Caulder offered Cliff a new lease on life. He asked him to become part of a special team of misfits dedicated towards the fight against evil. Joining with Negative Man and Elasti-Girl, the three new heroes became the first Doom Patrol.

Madame Rouge teams up with a former Nazi U-boat commander named Captain Zahl. Zahl and Rouge pilot their submarine to the the DP's secret island base. Zahl blames Niles Caulder for his disability and wants to kill him, but Rouge wants the Doom Patrol left alive so they can continue to suffer unending humiliation. Zahl launches several weapons designed to counter each of the Doom Patrol members' special abilities. He then tells them that he has planted a bomb in a small fishing village in Maine named Codsville, population: 14. He has a second bomb ready to destroy the Doom Patrol's island. He leaves it to the Doom Patrol to decide which bomb he shall detonate – confident that they will elect to save their own lives rather than that of fourteen strangers. Surprisingly, the Doom Patrol decide to sacrifice themselves rather than risk the deaths of the people of Codsville. Zahl pushes the plunger and the island explodes, killing the Doom Patrol.

Several years later, it was discovered that Robotman's brain had survived, though his original robot body had been destroyed. Will Magnus, creator of the Metal Men, builds Cliff a new body. Cliff joins with a new Doom Patrol led by a woman claiming to be the Chief's widow Celsius. During this time period, he meets up with former Patroller Beast Boy, who has since joined the Teen Titans. The two hunt down Madame Rouge and General Zahl, who helped kill the original Doom Patrol. During the confrontation, Zahl is killed when his bullets ricochet off of Robotman's chassis.

Cliff regained all old memories of his past. He stayed with the Doom Patrol, until Caulder moved the team on Oolong Island, they are the country's official superhero team. Cliff lives alone, in a bungalow on the island. Behind his house is a pit filled with discarded, broken Robotman bodies. By this point, he has discovered and accepted that his brain is no longer even his - the Chief has cloned it several times.

During the Blackest Night, Cliff goes up against his human body, which has risen as a Black Lantern. The skull cap of the body is gone, revealing an empty head. The Black Lanterns are destroyed when the Patrol tricks them into following them through a Boom Tube style gate, directly in the center of a fight involving the JLA.

HISTORY
Madeline Joyce, the niece of a millionaire who was financing electrical experiments of an unknown nature in a converted lighthouse on the East Coast of America. One night, Joyce was visiting the lighthouse during a violent electrical storm. She was caught in a powerful electrical discharge from the equipment triggered by the storm outside. Joyce miraculously survived the accident, but lay in a coma for a week. The discharge, however, activated her latent mutant abilities.

It was during WWII that Miss America became nationally famous. Shortly after the United States entered the war, the team of Allied champions known as the Invaders were captured and brainwashed by the Nazi agent the Red Skull. Under the Red Skull's influence, the Invaders attacked a domestic defense plant. Bucky Barnes, who had escaped capture, commandeered a New York City radio station, and began a marathon broadcast to round up available superhumanly powered crime fighters to counter the threat. Barnes had located existing FBI files on several such crime fighters, including the Whizzer, and broadcast specifically to contact them. Miss America heard the message while battling a Nazi spy ring in upstate New York, a mission in which she first met and fought alongside the superhuman crime fighter the Whizzer.

The Whizzer and Miss America were attracted to each other, and traveled together to New York City to join Bucky Barnes. Bucky's effort was successful, and after the Invaders were rescued from the Skull, the group stayed together to combat Nazi espionage in the United States under the name the Liberty Legion. While active with the Liberty Legion, the Whizzer and Miss America were engaged to be married. Once during this period, they left the Liberty Legion to fight in Europe alongside the Invaders.

After the war ended, the Whizzer and Miss America became members of the short-lived All-Winners Squad. The Squad disbanded after a few years, and the Whizzer and Miss America resumed their civilian identities of Robert Frank and Madeline Joyce and were married. In 1949, they began work for the United States government as non-costumed superhuman security agents at a secret nuclear project located in New York City. Unknown to Frank, Isbisa, a former enemy of the All-Winners Squad, sabotaged the facility and staged a nuclear accident which exposed the Franks to massive amounts of radiation. Although Isbisa's act of revenge did not kill the Franks, Madeline was pregnant at the time, and several months later gave birth to a radioactive mutant son, Robert Frank Jr., later called Nuklo. Because the baby emitted dangerous levels of radiation, the United States government took custody of him and placed him in an experimental chrono-module. There he would be kept in suspended animation until he ceased to emit dangerous levels of radiation.

Leaving the research facility with a generous government pension, the Franks decided to travel the world. Madeline Frank became pregnant again, and was in the tiny Balkan country of Transia when the pregnancy came to term. The Franks had found refuge in the scientific citadel atop Wundagore Mountain at the recommendation of nearby villagers who believed it to have modern medical facilities. With the evolved cow called Bova Ayrshire as midwife, Madeline gave birth to a stillborn child, even more radioactive and mutated than her first child. Madeline died of radiation poisoning hours later.

Years later, a mysterious villain resurrected Madeline alongside a number of other heroes and villains (including Kraven, Mysterio and Anarchist) in order to use them as his elite soldiers.

HISTORY
Dr. Walter Langkowski grew up in British Columbia. He was an honors student at the University of Calgary before attending Pennsylvania State University on a football scholarship, earning a degree in physics. Walter met Bruce Banner while he was a freshman. Although they only worked with each other for one semester, Langowski decided to focus on gamma radiation research. He played a few years for the Green Bay Packers, becoming very wealthy. He then continued his graduate studies at M.I.T. He was appointed to McGill University in Montreal. He studied all he could on the Hulk after learning that he was a transformed Banner. Guardian provided additional funding for a re-search facility at the Arctic Circle.

While on leave from the university, Dr. Langkowski began working on a gamma radiation experiment that could create a being like the Hulk, only under more controlled circumstances. Being bombarded by mas-sive amounts of gamma radiation, Walter turned into a huge creature. He then went on a rampage until being found unconscious by Snow-bird. Shaman and Snowbird helped Walter learn how to keep his personality and intelligence in his bes-tial form. He assumed the closeness to the Aurora Borealis prevented him from turning green like the Hulk and other gamma-powered beings. He called himself Sasquatch noting the resemblance to the creature also called Bigfoot. After training in the Gamma and Beta Flight programs, he was accepted into Alpha Flight.

He continued to research and teach at Simon Fraser University when not adventuring. Aurora became his lover. At her request, Walter per-formed a procedure on Aurora to modify her mutant powers and differentiate her from her brother.

Unknown to Langkowski, however, his original experiment had instead opened a portal to the Realm of Great Beasts rather than empower Langkowski. He was linked to the beast known as Tanaraq. The more he transformed, the more Tanaraq was beginning to overtake him, especially when he grew angry or felt pain. Snowbird was forced to transform herself into a similar form and ripped the beast's heart out, killing him. Alpha Flight traveled to the Realm of Great Beasts to re-claim his spirit, Shaman sending it into the Box robot.

Walter and the Box robot's owner, Roger Bochs, immediately began to search for a new body. Walter refused to enter the temporarily mind-less Hulk and seemed to disappear. His spirit existed in the Crossroads of Realities for a time, but eventual-ly entered the body of Smart Alec, who had been rendered mindless and stored in Shaman's pouch. When Snowbird's deceased Sasquatch body was possessed by Pestilence, Walter emerged from the pouch as Smart Alec, transferred his mind back into the Box robot, and battled Pestilence until his spirit vacated Snowbird's body. Walter then transferred his mind into the Sasquatch form and unthinkingly tried to transform Snow-bird's Sasquatch body back into his own human body. Instead, he became a white-haired female version of himself, dubbed Wanda Langkowski.

After several months as Wanda Langkowski, Snowbird's spirit re-turned from the afterlife and extracted her godly essence from Sasquatch's form. This effectively turned him back into Walter and the orange-furred Sasquatch.

After Alpha Flight disbanded, Walter continued his gamma radiation research at Project Michelangelo in Antarctica. Deadpool attacked the base and caused the core to overload, endangering the entire world. Sasquatch and Deadpool teamed up to shut the down the core.

Department H captured an actual Sasquatch and forced it to serve Alpha Flight, assuming it was Langkowski with amnesia. When the creature was killed, Walter was assumed dead. Meanwhile, Walter found his former teammate Guardian in the snow of Antarctica and nursed him back to health. This led to Walter discovering that Department H was up to some shady activities. Walter reassembled the original Alpha Flight and confronted the new Alpha Flight. After Department H was exposed he rejoined the team.

When the rest of Alpha Flight were kidnapped by the Plodex, Sasquatch assembled an all-new, all-different Alpha Flight to rescue them. This team remained together after their first mission, and Walter led Alpha Flight for a time.

Alpha Flight with the exception of Walter perished battling the Collective. Walter helped organize a new team to defend Canada, Omega Flight.

Once Omega Flight fell apart, and his original team returned from the dead, Walter rejoined Alpha Flight in service of the Canadian government. He immediately began a heavy flirtation with Aurora.

Sasquatch soon became part of the Alpha Flight space program.

The Great Key: A golden 5-foot staff that opens the nexus between the Earth and other dimensions.

CONTACTS: Alpha Flight, Wolverine

HISTORY
Born from a great line of Sarcee mystics, Michael was not interested in learning his grandfather's arts, instead choosing to become a surgeon. When his wife Katheryn became sick, he vowed that he would find a cure for her. However, she soon died. His daughter Elizabeth became angry at him, and was taken in by the McNeils. Michael spent his time in the wild as a recluse. He was visited by his grandfather's spirit and learned the magical arts.

He also encountered a goddess and helped her deliver her child, Narya. James and Heather Hudson met Michael and Narya and invited them to join Alpha Flight. Michael joined partially because he was concerned with how the young Narya, who took the codename Snowbird, would be used. He took the name of Shaman, using both his mystic and medical talents.

After Sasquatch was killed by Snowbird, Shaman used the Great Key to transport the team to the Realm of Great Beasts. There they found Walter's spirit. With Boch's permission, Shaman placed it into the Box robot.

When reunited with his daughter Elizabeth, both Shaman and Snow-bird realized she was fated to wear the talisman. He asked her to look into the pouch and then reach for something. She did, pulling the talisman which then affixed to her head. Elizabeth went on to join Al-pha Flight as Talisman.

Elizabeth was seemingly killed while on a mission to recover members of Alpha Flight lost in the inter-dimensional void opened when Delphine Courtney inverted Shaman's pouch. It was only through the intervention of the Beyonder that she was saved. Elizabeth was furious at her father as he had promised that no harm would come to her but she perceived him as abandoning her. His heart bro-ken over his inability to save his daughter, much like he had with her mother. This crisis of conscience resulted in his inability to use the powers of the pouch. Shaman travelled to the Northwest Territories to renew his skills and face several trials to prove his worthiness. As gifts for succeeding, his grandfather's spirit gave him new tools to act as the Shaman: an Eagle crest hat to call forth a familiar, (Eaglet) and a staff by which to communicate with spirits.

Shaman briefly had to use the Talisman of Power when Elizabeth foolishly summoned Pestilence. His passing of his tests meant he too was worthy enough to wear it.

Acting as Talisman made him distance himself from the others, as the warder of spirits cannot let other things get in the way of his or her mission. Later, Elizabeth reclaimed the talisman, seemingly having learned her lesson.

Shaman temporarily left the team to meet with the Arctic gods. He re-turned during the Infinity Crusade as many heroes battled the Goddess.

Shaman continued to be withdrawn, especially after briefly taking the team to the Land of the Dead in an attempt to see his wife again.

Shaman later served as an adviser to Gamma Flight while Elizabeth recovered from serious injuries.

After Department H dismantled Alpha Flight and then formed a new team with several new additions, Shaman found himself drawn to find Walter Langowski. The two then found the wounded Guardian in Antarctica. The three joined with Northstar and Aurora to confront their teammates about Department H's true plans. All eventually were reunited.

Shaman has trained a protege, Earthmover to take over much of his duties. He still continued to be involved with Alpha Flight. However, he is believed dead after their battle with the Collective. He and Guardian and Vindicator and Puck, did end up being revealed to be deceased when they were seen in the Underworld, however due to the Chaos King warring on all reality, they were released and brought back to the land of the living (save for both Puck and Major Mapleleaf).

Since his return, Shaman has re-joined Alpha Flight in service of the Canadian Government.

BACKGROUND
Real Name: Shaper of Worlds
Occupation: Reality Manipulator
Legal Status: Not Applicable
Identity: No dual identity
Other Known Aliases: None
Place of Birth: A planet in the Skrull home system (which has since been destroyed), Andromeda Galaxy
Marital Status: NA
Known Relatives: Kubik Kosmos / Beynder (sibling), Ivory Kings (creator race)
Base of Operations: Mobile
Past Group Affiliations: Mentor to Glorian and Kubik
Present Group Affiliation:

KNOWN POWERS:
Body Resistance: The Shaper of Worlds has Monstrous (75) protection from physical attacks, and Amazing protection from energy attacks. By manipulating reality, he can become invulnerable to any form of damage.

Reality Manipulation: The Shaper of Worlds has Reality Manipulating powers of Class 5000 ability. His initial range is 1 area. but increases at the rate of 1 area per round, so that after 21 Earth hours, he can cover an entire planet the size of Earth in his reality. It remains in that slate for 4 Earth years, at which point it returns to normal, unless the Shaper intervenes to maintain his transformation. However, the Shaper has no imagination, and depends on the dreams and ideas of others to form templates for his world-shaping. Once he finds a template, he begins to warp reality until it corresponds with the illusion. If he should find a mind that wishes to be king of the world, reality is suitably manipulated. The Shaper is attracted by extremely grandiose, interesting, and unusual dreams. If he is convinced that the dream is harmful, he may negate it.

The Shaper moves by way of a vehicle which is in place of his lower body. The vehicle only moves 1 area/turn. His starship has Class 5000 movement.

CONTACTS: Glorian, Kubik, Kosmos / Beyonder

HISTORY
Thousands of years ago, the Skrulls developed an artifact to modify reality following the wishes of the user. It was the first Cosmic Cube, apparently created by forming a meta-singularity or gray hole, which was really an opening to a different uni-verse. This universe was inhabited by mysterious beings called the Ivory Kings or Beyonders, who wished to experiment with the development of sentient life. A embryonic Ivory King from that universe crossed the grey hole and was placed in a perfect force cube created by Skrull scientists. The Skrull emperor took the cube and declared himself a god. He reigned for many years but, unbeknownst to all, the Cube had potential to become a sentient being itself.

Through the years of use, the emperor involuntarily imprinted some of his own traits upon the embryonic consciousness of the Cube, and thus the Cube began to develop his own personality. Since the Skrull emperor was a megalomaniac madman, the Cube mimicked that attribute. The Cube, acting on its own, transformed and destroyed several star systems in the Skrull's Andromeda Galaxy. Upon reaching emotional maturity, it had destroyed civilizations in two-thirds of the inhabited worlds in the galaxy, and as a result the Skrull Empire succumbed to barbarism, though the Skrulls would eventually reconstruct their empire centuries later.

The Beyonder within the cube ultimately transcended the emperor's madness and developed its own masculine personality. It changed its body to look like a Skrull from the waist upwards. Motivated by its powers, he adopted the name of the Shaper of Worlds. Apparently due to a similar fault in the emperor, the Shaper had a very limited creative imagination, so he looked for intelligent beings whose imaginations would give him patterns to shape the worlds. The Shaper traveled through worlds giving substance to the imagination of "lesser beings". He traveled to Earth many times, attracted by the potential of the native humans.

The Shaper created a replica of Earth in the Microverse. On this alternate Earth the Nazis had invaded the United States of America. The Hulk arrived on the world when he was shrinking through the Microverse. Battling the Nazis, the Hulk learned the truth about the Shaper. The Hulk confronted him and told him that he would deal with him once the fantasy was over. Hulk then teamed up with the alternate United States Army and turned the tides of the war. He found Dr. Otto Kronsteig, a former Nazi scientist who was banished to the Microverse by Doctor Doom, and was currently the subject whom the Shaper was shaping fantasies from. When Otto began to doubt the Shaper's promises, the Shaper appeared to him and reminded Otto that while he had the power to turn fantasy into reality, he was devoid of imagination, and as such sought out other beings to make their fantasies manifest, and that the only way the Hulk could win this battle was through Otto's doubting mind.

Otto then became Captain Axis, but the Hulk's power was too much, and he once again began to doubt himself. The Shaper came to the Hulk, furious at him for having ruined the illusion, and decided to manifest the Hulk's fantasies into reality instead; however, when the Shaper created illusions of his friends on Earth, as well as the late Jarella, the Hulk lashed out, knowing that they were not the real thing, and renouncing the gifts the Shaper had offered. Unable to appease the stubborn Hulk, the Shaper of Worlds sent him back on his way, resuming his reduction in size. Having become exhausted after this most recent bout, the Shaper decided to leave his microworld creation, and all its inhabitants behind, to reflect on everything that he has encountered.

The Shaper next decided that he could not live forever and, understanding the latent psionic potential of Earthlings, took one of them as his apprentice: Thomas Gideon, now known as Glorian.

The Shaper, having realized that he lacked imagination to create his own illusions, had decided to bring joy to others, and thus experience their wildest imaginations vicariously through them. He selected the Hulk as the first such person to receive his gift and sent Glorian, who thanked the Shaper for saving his life and giving him new purpose, to find him. The Hulk's wishes were granted, and he was reunited with old friends, but cracks soon began to appear, and the Hulk realized that this was all a lie once again; however, the Toad Men happened upon the Hulk's fantasy world, and wanting a world of their own, hoped to use the Shaper's powers to their own ends.

The Hulk was forced by the Toad Men to find the Shaper and confront him, but the Shaper was insulted that the Hulk would turn away his gift and attempt to attack him. When the Shaper realized that the Hulk had a Nullatron Bomb strapped to his back, he reacted too late to stop it from detonating, and the blast knocked them both out. The Toad Men soon arrived on the planet to recover the unconscious Shaper. Eventually the Hulk and Glorian rescued the Shaper of Worlds and once freed he banished the Toad Men and returned the Hulk to Earth, annoyed that he would not accept his gift.

Later Glorian was practicing his dreaming powers on a New Mexico town, making everyone think that they were someone else, someone better, but the Hulk was in the town and could see through the lie. He confronted Glorian, who turned the town's people into numerous villains including BiBeast, Rhino, Gargoyle, Abomination, Moonstone, and The Leader, as well as trans-formed Betty into the Harpy. Hulk defeated them all, before the Shaper of Worlds showed up. He re-turned everyone to normal, but left the Hulk in a town where everyone now hated him.

When the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree discovered that a Cosmic Cube, which had been created on Earth and utilized by power-hungry psychos such as Red Skull and Thanos, had begun to show its own will and immature personality, it was considered a threat to the known universe.

The Supreme Intelligence contacted the Shaper, who went to Earth and calmed the Cube, taking from it any hate, paranoia, and hunger for power that it might have. Motivated by paternal feelings and a desire to penance for the devastation he had caused millennia before, the Shaper accepted the responsibility of supervising the development of this new Cube's consciousness. This Cube would become Kubik, the second apprentice of the Shaper of Worlds.

The Shaper and Kubik later stopped Doctor Doom from stealing the power of the Beyonder, and helped the Beyonder and the Molecule Man to create another new Cosmic Cube.

Sometime later, Glorian returned to Earth and tried to help the Hulk, but once more caused nothing but trouble. Glorian almost lost his and the Hulk's souls to Cloot, but the Shaper of Worlds stepped in and forced the demon back. Before they both left for space once again, the Shaper told Glorian that he still had much to learn about his actions.

The Shaper then formed the medieval world Eurth using the imagination of a child and the history of Avalon.

Meanwhile, unknown to them all, Chancellor Kal'du had compiled files for Queen Veranke of almost every Skrull interaction with humanity including those of the Shaper of Worlds, in preparation for the Secret Invasion of Earth.

After the death of his Kosmos in-carnation the Beyonder was free once again. He discovered the Incursions and the cause of the multiversal collapse.

The Shaper, Kubik, and Beyonder sought to defend their universe against their creators. The Ivory Kings proved too powerful in battle for the trio to defeat. Learning that the Ivory Kings were linear beings unable to travel in time, the Beyonder fled from the battle hiding in the past, merged with a human as a new creation, the Sentry. During the final assault on the Ivory Kings The Shaper and Kubik were losing. In an effort to save him, Kubik sent the Shaper back in time to merge with Adam Brashear, the Blue Marvel.

Kubik’s fate remains unknown.

HISTORY
Salu Digby aka Shrinking Violet was born on 30th Century Earth to Imskian parents, inheriting their native ability to shrink to microscopic size. Salu grew up a very quiet and shy young girl. Despite this, she decided to attempt to join the Legion of Super-Heroes. Salu tried out for membership at the same time as Bouncing Boy and Sun Boy.

At that very same tryout, Supergirl and Brainiac 5 joined the Legion, admitted right away for their impressive powers. Due to her lack of confidence Salu failed in her first attempt to join. Triplicate Girl saw something special about this miniature applicant and convinced her to try again. Salu proved her mettle and became thirteenth member of the Legion.

Shrinking Violet proved a very useful Legionnaire though very shy around new people. Salu started a long-distance relationship with Duplicate Boy, of the Heroes of Lallor. Salu stayed true to Duplicate Boy even when pursued romantically by fellow Legionnaire Colossal Boy. Salu took Duplicate Boy to her home planet of Imsk on vacation, but was attacked by the Fatal Five. After the couple was rescued by the Legion, Colossal Boy again showed an interest in Salu, but she chose to return to her one true love Duplicate Boy.

The planet Imsk's relationship with the United Planets has always been strained. Imsk threatened to secede from the United Planets over a dispute involving hunting rights.

When Earth's and the solar system was struck by a mysterious shrinking plague, the United Planets accused the Imskians and tensions grew between Salu and the rest of the Legionnaires. The Legion of Super-Heroes eventually discovered that the plague was engineered by Dr. Regulus and they worked together to stop him.

After a few years of service to the Legion, she was abducted by Imskian radicals led by Micro Lad who wished to replace her with a Durlan named Yera who used her native shape shifting abilities to assume her identity.

Element Lad who at the time was the Legions appointed deputy leader, and Science Police liaison Shvaughn Erin became suspicious of the fake Salu when Yera fell in love with Colossal Boy, who had unrequited crush on the real Salu for years. The Durlan's charade was exposed and Salu was rescued from the Imskian radicals by the team.

When she recovered from her abduction, Salu resumed her position as a Legionnaire. The incident changed her personality making her more cynical and more violent to criminals. This lead her to learn various fighting techniques making her one of the skilled Legionnaire's in hand-to-hand combat. It was also after she had recovered from her confinement that she broke up with Duplicate Boy, who had known that her replacement was a Durlan and not her, but didn't let anyone in the Legion know about it.

Currently Salu is dating fellow Legionnaire, Lightning Lass.

Sinestro Corps

Post by Sidious »

Image

Sinestro Corps

Background:
The Parallax entity is a space para-site that is the embodiment of fear that was imprisoned within the Central Power Battery on Oa. After a long time, the entity became known as the yellow impurity, the cause for the Green Lantern Corps' weakness with the color yellow.

After Thaal Sinestro went rogue, he was banished by the Guardians of the Universe to Qward in the Anti-matter Universe. When he returned, he wielded a power ring which used yellow energy. After various en-counters with Earth's Green Lantern Hal Jordan, he was imprisoned within the Central Power Battery. There he was able to use his ring, which uses fear, as opposed to willpower, as a power source, to awaken Parallax from hibernation. From here, Parallax and Sinestro were able influence the fall of Hal Jordan and instigate the fall of the Green Lantern Corps, leaving one last Green Lantern: Kyle Rayner.

With the Green Lantern Corps re-started with the return of Hal Jordan, Sinestro founded the Sinestro Corps and had been actively recruiting members, offering Yellow Power Rings and a role in the Corps to those who can "instill great fear". Members of the Corps are immediately taken to Qward to "...be subjected to psychological and physical reconditioning". The Sinestro Corps works in sectors, much like the Green Lantern Corps. Qward now has a huge Yellow Lantern Central Power Battery on it, similar to the one used on Oa.

Arkillo, a large and muscular vicious alien enslaved all the Weaponers of Qward and forcing them to continuously build new yellow rings, programmed to breach the barrier between anti-matter and matter universe and find and recruit new ring-wielders. Arkillo also served as the Sinestro Corps' drill sergeant, similar to Kilowog's role in the Green Lantern Corps. Enkafos served as a strategist and adviser. Finally, Lyssa Drak, keeper of the Book of Parallax, oversaw the final test of the Sinestro Corps initiates, the Fear Lodges.

Known members, other than the Corps' namesake and Arkillo, include Karu-Sil, raised by animals; Despotellis, a sentient virus capable of attacking Lanterns from the inside; Bedovian, the sniper of the Corps, capable of taking out a tar-get from three sectors away while living off of the fungus growing on his "hermit crab" like shell.

During this time, the Sinestro Corps attempted to recruit Batman, known even to some alien races for his great formidable and ability of instilling great fear in others. However, Batman's willpower combined with his previous brief exposure to a power ring allowed him to reject the yellow ring before it took him to be properly trained and molded into one of Sinestro's warriors. The yellow ring then sought a replacement and selected Amon Sur, the disgruntled son of Abin Sur, who was on Earth and attempting to steal Hal Jordan's ring.

Prophetically, the Sinestro Corps itself became the catalyst for uniting the Weaponers of Qward, Ranx the Sentient City, the Children of the White Lobe, and the Empire of Tears against the Green Lantern Corps. Upgraded Manhunters start-ed to appear throughout the universe. Hal Jordan encountered one on Earth and, with Guy Gardner, followed their trail to Sector 3601. Hal and Guy found several Green Lanterns, all of who were assumed to have been killed during Parallax's onslaught, and the Manhunter's new grandmaster, the Cyborg Superman. The Manhunters were defeated and Henshaw's head was brought to Oa. The Book of Oa has a forbidden chapter on cosmic Revelations, which included the following prophecy:

"A face of metal and flesh shall speak of the secrets of the 52. Fear will rise. Willpower will gather. And a war of light will unleash the truth behind the power of the ring."

After his interrogation, the Guardians learned that Henshaw is aware of the fifty-two parallel universes and that if New Earth was destroyed, the new Multiverse would collapse and the Antimatter Uni-verse would take its place. Two of the Guardians, Ganthet and Sayd, warn the other Guardians not to ignore the prophecy because it could destroy the Green Lantern Corps.

Once the Sinestro Corps were at sufficient strength, Sinestro ordered an assault on Oa. While his Corps rampaged across the Guardians' home world, Sinestro was breaking the will of Kyle Rayner, who had been captured and brought to Qward by a Yellow Power Ring. Revealing that Ion was in fact a separate entity from Rayner, and that his agent Despotellis had killed Rayner's mother, Sinestro succeeded in breaking his will, offering him up as the new host for Parallax, who had escaped the Central Battery on Oa and was waiting in the Yellow Lantern Central Power Battery. The Sinestros' assault Oa succeeded in their missions of freeing Superboy-Prime and Cyborg Superman. Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Guy Gardner, the three Green Lanterns of Earth, went to Qward to rescue their friend, along with the Lost Lanterns, who were ordered to rescue Ion at all costs. The Green Lanterns were able to rescue Ion, though at the cost of Ke'Haan, who was killed by the Anti-Monitor and Jack T. Chance, who was killed by Parallax, but failed to rescue Rayner. The Earth Lanterns then returned to Earth to enlist the aid of their comrades in the Justice League, while the Lost Lanterns returned to Oa.

Meanwhile, Sinestro dispatched Arkillo and Enkafros to lead a force of Sinestros to destroy the Green Lantern planet Mogo, who was responsible for guiding the Green Lantern Rings throughout the uni-verse. They had enlisted the aid of Ranx the Sentient City and the Children of the White Lobe to help them. A force under Kilowog and Salakk lead a counter strike, with Kilowog sending a small squad to neutralize Ranx. However, the Lanterns' inability to kill handicapped them, allowing the Sinestro Corps to gain significant ground. Just as Kilowog all but admitted defeat, their power rings began transmitting a message: the Guardians had amended the first law of the Book of Oa to allow lethal force against the Sinestro Corps. Learning that they are in danger, the Sinestros break ranks in panic, while rookie Lantern Sodam Yat ends the battle by destroying Ranx.

Mere moments after the battle's end, Jordan broadcasts an S.O.S. announcing that Sinestro is attacking Earth, using a new Warworld to transport their Central Battery as well. Earth's heroes assist the Green Lanterns, and Jordan and Rayner were able to break Parallax' hold over the latter, while Ganthet and Sayd, banished from the Guardians for their "heresy", imprisoned Parallax in the Earth Lanterns personal power batteries, while Sinestro leads a force to attack Coast City. The Anti-Monitor then arrives at the battle raging in New York City, and begins absorbing positive matter, hoping to destroy Earth and with it the multiverse. However, the Guardians arrive to deal with the Anti-Monitor himself. John Stewart and Guy Gardner come up with the plan to use War-world's Yellow Battery to damage the Anti-Monitor. The two Lanterns throw Warworld at the Anti-Monitor, while the Green Lanterns raise a shield around the Anti-Monitor and Warworld to contain the blast. The explosion significantly cuts through the Anti-Monitor's armor killing Hank Henshaw as well, shutting down the Manhunters. Superboy-Prime then betrays the Anti-Monitor, throwing him across the universe, but is warped into the multiverse when one of the Guardians sacrifices himself to destroy Prime. At Coast City, Sinestro uses the Manhunters to drain Jordan and Rayner's power rings, only for Jordan to use a Man-hunter power skull to drain Sinestro's. The three fight across Coast City, where Jordan finally defeats Sinestro. With their senior command removed, the Sinestro Corps withdraws.

Though the Sinestro Corps was defeated, the Rings were still being sent to seek out new bearers. One of these was Mongul II, who decided to take over the leaderless Sinestros. A number of them refused, so Mongul killed them and took their rings for his own. Mongul eventually made his way to Ater Clementia, using the Black Mercies to cause nightmares among those who were attached to them. Mongul was defeated and left for dead by a Lantern team under Gardner and Rayner's leadership, though Mongul survived and escaped without the Lanterns knowledge. He made his way to Daxam, which he conquered to serve as the home world of the Sinestro Corps, which he still claimed leadership over.

Meanwhile, many in the Sinestro Corps began a campaign to terrorize the Green Lantern Corps by targeting their families. The Quintet, a group of five siblings, began targeting the families of rookie Lan-terns and delivered their eyes to a training facility. After they were neutralized, the Sinestro Kryb began targeting Green Lanterns expecting newborn children, killing the parents and taking the children. She was later captured by a group of Green Lanterns under Rayner, with the help of the Star Sapphire Miri Riam, who took Kryb with her to Zamaron, in an attempt to be rehabilitated along with other female Sinestro Corps members.

Seeking to restore their leader and end Mongul's coup attempts, a group of Sinestro loyalists began plotting to rescue him. When the Green Lanterns were transferring the imprisoned Sinestro to Korugar for his execution, the Sinestro Corps ambushed them, only to be in turn ambushed by the Red Lan-tern Corps and captured along with Sinestro. After a second successful rescue on Ysmault, Sinestro was informed of the Star Sapphires and Mongul's coup attempts. Returning to Qward, Sinestro revealed a secondary Central Power Battery to his loyalists, and instructed them to rescue the female Sinestro Corps members on Zamaron, then gather on Daxam's moon for his inevitable counterattack against Mongul.

During the Blackest Night, Indigo-1 takes Sinestro to his home planet to face Mongul to reclaim his Corps. After a brutal battle between the two Sinestro Corps leaders Sinestro emerges victorious by exploiting a programming encoded in all Qwardian power rings that will stop them from being used against Sinestro himself. Mongul is imprisoned in one of the Central Power Batteries.

Later the Sinsetro Corps come to Earth with the other Lanterns of the emotional spectrum to battle Nekron. Despite their hatred of the Green Lantern Corps they put aside their differences and help to end the Blackest Night.

After the Blackest Night a truce between the Green Lantern Corps and Sinestro Corps was forged. Sinestro teams up with the other leaders of Lantern Corps to take out a Guardian of the Universe yet ends up a Green Lantern once more, leaving his corps on their own.

After Sinestro moved the Sinestro Corps Central Power Battery to his home planet, along with his Sinestro Corps, he left them there to protect his home world. After the events of The Brightest Day, Sinestro discovered that the Sinestro Corps had ravaged his world, caring only for their own power. As a Green Lantern Sinestro used built-in protocols within the Sinestro Corps Central Power Bat-tery to shut both the Central Power Battery and the Sinestro Corps down, their local wielders forced into coma. Any individual power ring users would lose access to their Central Power Battery. Sinestro betrayed his corps, killing or subduing most of them.

The Weaponer from Qward was left behind on Korugar when he took off his Sinestro Power Ring before Sinestro and Hal Jordan enacted the shutdown command on the Yellow Central Power Battery. When Arkillo came to Korugar for a re-charge, he joined the Weaponer in fleeing the Korugarians. A new Power Ring and portable Power Battery was forged and Arkillo is now one of the last active Sinestro Corps members.

HISTORY
Narya's origins trace back to ancient times when the Eskimo gods of the North battled the mystical Great Beasts for the fate of the world. Ultimately both parties were exiled from Earth, and as such the Eskimo gods sought to create an agent to prevent the Beasts' return. To that end, Nelvanna, goddess of the Northern Lights, mated with a human. With the midwifery assistance of Sarcee mystic Michael Twoyoungmen, Nelvanna gave birth to a daughter, Narya. Twoyoungmen bound the infant to the lands of Canada, allowing her to assume human form; however, she would weaken if she left Canada's borders.

Twoyoungmen raised the rapidly maturing Narya as his own daughter, and both were soon recruited into Alpha Flight as Shaman and Snowbird. Narya was given the human cover identity of RCMP Records Officer Anne McKenzie, as whom she met and fell in love with fellow officer Doug Thompson. Snowbird and her teammates protected Earth from the Great Beasts, but when Narya married Thompson and became pregnant with his child, the outraged Eskimo gods banned her from their realm. When Narya went to the Arctic alongside Doug and Shaman to give birth, the necessary magic accidentally revived the evil Pestilence, who had lain dormant underground there. Pestilence possessed Snowbird's new-born son and aged him into an adult, intending to menace Earth with his powers of death and decay. In the ensuing battle, Thompson and the baby were killed by Pestilence, and Vindicator was forced to kill a Pestilence-possessed Snowbird. The souls of Narya, her husband, and their child were then welcomed into the Gods' realm.

Snowbird's spirit occasionally returned to Earth until she was resurrected through a combination of science and magic by the terrorist organization A.I.M. Rescued by Alpha Flight, Narya rejoined the team.

Three days before the discovery of the Skrull Invasion, Snowbird was approached by Michael Pointer at Cape Columbia, who try to recruit her, in vain as she despised him for having cause Alpha Flight's death as the Collective, wearing James Hudson's uniform and asking her to join a team named after Alpha Flight's enemies.

Narya, as the chosen one of the Northern Earth gods, joined the God Squad founded by the Council of Godheads under Athena's pressure. During their encounter with Nightmare she was deeply disturbed by survivor's guilt over the deaths of Alpha Flight and in her grief, she slept with Hercules. She survived the final battle alongside Hercules and Amadeus Cho to return to her native realm.

When the Chaos King attacked, Narya's deceased friends from Alpha Flight were returned to the land of the living. Since they came back, she has reunited with them and reformed Alpha Flight.

HISTORY
The Spirit of '76 first came to prominence during the early 1940's as a costumed adventurer who fought against Nazi espionage in the United States. Presumably he adopted his patriotic costume and name in imitation of the original Captain America.

The Spirit of '76 left America in 1942 and took up residence in Great Britain to serve as a member of the Crusaders, a British team of superhumanly powerful champions who intended to battle Nazis. The Spirit of '76 was the sole American member of the team and the only one who lacked superhuman abilities. The Crusaders had been recruited and organized by a man known as Alfie, whom they believed to be a representative of the British government or military. In fact, however, "Alfie" was an agent of Germany who had organized the Crusaders in order to discredit the Invaders, another team of super-human champions opposing the Nazis. He also was plotting assassinate King George VI of Great Britain at the christening of a new British battleship. "Alfie" convinced the Crusaders that the Invaders were actually Nazi agents, and the two groups clashed at the christening. However, the Invaders exposed and thwarted the assassination plot, and the Crusaders realized they had been duped. The Crusaders broke up as a team.

After the breakup of the Crusaders, Spirit of '76 continued to fight for the Allies during the war. His activities during most of this period is unrecorded.

In December of 1943, time dis-placed American soldier Paul Anselm returned from the future with the Cosmic Cube in order to restore to life his dead friends who were gunned down by Nazis in Italy. However, the Cube ended up in the hands of the Red Skull who used it to reshape reality so that the Nazis ruled to the world. The Spirit of '76 was among many heroes who were slain by the Skull and impaled on a massive wall of dead heroes. The Skull was later opposed by the Invaders and the time travelling New Avengers and Mighty Avengers. During the course of the battle, the Cube returned to the hands of Paul Anselm who used it to resurrect Nasland and all the other fallen heroes who then attacked the Skull. With the Skull defeated, reality was restored to normal and William's memories of the event were erased.

Spirit of '76 resurfaced again in the spring of 1945, joining Captain America, and the Patriot on a mission to sneak inside Berlin during Allied air raids in order to capture Hitler's secret lock box. They were joined by the original Red Guardian, whom the Spirit was at odds due to their differences in political ideologies. Despite this, the quartet of heroes chased after the Red Skull to stop him from escaping with the lock box. While Spirit, Patriot, and Red Guardian kept back Nazi forces, Cap and Red Skull battled it out in a bunker while bombs dropped from above. Cap managed to escape with the lock box, while the Skull was seemingly killed.

When the original Captain America and Bucky were seemingly killed in the spring of 1945, President Truman, sought to keep the legend of Captain America alive. He recruited William as the new Captain America. William was teamed up with New York Yankee's bat-boy Fred Davis who was taking over the role of Bucky. Following their appointment, Truman called in the Invaders to announce the original Captain America and Bucky's "Deaths" and introduce them to their replacements. William fought faithfully with the Invaders along with Fred as the new Captain America and Bucky.

During one of these early missions with the Invaders, Nasland was downed by an enemy tank. Suddenly, William was pulled forward in time by the Contemplator who brought together the future version of Steve Rogers, who was alive after all and revived from suspended animation in the modern age, as well as William's future successors: the modern era version of Jeffrey Mace, formally the Patriot, who was destined to take William's place in the future; as well as William Burnside, who was the Captain America of the 1950s. Learning that Mace was suffering from terminal cancer, both Nasland and Burnside agreed to join Rogers and work together on Mace's final adventure. The Contemplator then transported the four Captain America's to a world that was conquered by the android Adam-II. Upon the hero’s defeat of Adam II, William was returned to his own time, his memories of the adventure erased, and no idea that a version of Adam-II would play an integral part in his future. One of William's first major missions as Captain America was to lead a superhero invasion on Berlin on April 25, 1945, which ultimately led to the Nazi's surrender and the eventual death of Adolf Hitler.

Returning home to the United States, Captain America and Bucky were invited to the home town of a fellow soldier they fought with in Germany. They soon found the town being whipped up into racial prejudice and rioting. Investigating Cap and Bucky uncovered a nationwide plot to destabilize America by the League of Hate, Nazi's handpicked by Hitler to infiltrate America under the guise of wound-ed American soldiers. After shutting down the local cell of spies, Captain America addressed the entire nation, exposing the plot and leading to the League's capture. Travelling to New York, William and Fred got involved in the strange murder of Wall Street money carriers. These murders were carried out by a mobster named Diavolo who used organ grinders to conceal his silenced weapons. Travelling to Washington, the pair also exposed the crime lord known simply as the Boss who operated as the the local district attorney as a cover from his criminal activities.

In their civilian guises, William and Fred were put on guard duty of a freighter ship that was to transfer works of art that were transferred to America for safe keeping during the war in Europe. Their ship was attacked by the Evil Knight who clashed with Captain America and Bucky. The pair followed the Knight back to his castle where they were captured. Freeing themselves, they prevented the Knight from robbing the Arco Produce Company, handing the villain a humiliating defeat by trapping him with a junky yard's magnetic crane. Also during this time, the pair rescued millionaire Stephen Bellows from "Knucks" Connors and his gang.

William and Fred next investigated sightings of the so-called Walking Dead in a nearby town. As Captain America and Bucky, they learn that the "Walking Dead" were really Im-perial Japanese spies attempting to unearth the body of John Porter, a scientist who created a deadly bio-logical weapon and had it hidden with his body in the nearby ceme-tery. Cap and Bucky stop the spies and destroy the biological weapon to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. Next the pair clashed with the Leopard who used special-ly made electric guns to commit his daring robberies. Deployed to India shortly thereafter, Captain America and Bucky soon clashed with the Japanese spy known as Genrami who used the element Trelite in mirrors in order to blind American soldiers. This clash ended with Genrami's death.

In July of 1946, William -- as Captain America -- joined President Truman in attendance at the Post-dam Conference to discuss the future of Germany and Europe. There he was reunited with the Sub-Mariner and the Red Guardian. Still unable to tolerate the Russian super-soldier due to his Communist ideals, Cap and the Guardian almost came to blows before Namor broke them up. Despite their differences, the trio prevented General Brinkhaus from empowering himself and murdering President Truman, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Russian leader Joseph Stalin. However, even in victory Cap could still not reconcile with the Red Guardian, much to Namor's chagrin. After the Postdam incident, Captain America rejoined the Invaders and clashed with Japanese forces in the South Pacific, as well as domestic threats on the home front.

Later that month, William and Fred were once more in their civilian guises as they were deployed by the military to assist in clearing a Pacific island recently liberated by the United States. There they discovered Japanese scientist Sico Rudo had invented a new volatile explosive called "Atom Water". Clashing with Rudo and his men ultimately led to Rudo's death, and Cap and Bucky managed to collect a sample of the explosive for American scientists. However, when they turned it over to the military they soon learned the United States had just finished developing an even more powerful weapon: the atomic bomb. Returning to their civilian guises, the pair returned to an American base where American actress Fluffy Flair was to put on a performance as part of a USO show. Upon Flair's arrival she was kidnapped by Japanese agents under the command of Captain Catti. Captain America and Bucky rescued Fluffy, and prevented an impostor from using interpretative dance to signal the location of the American gun battlements were located. Returning to the United States, William and Fred became involved in investigating how the "Fraternity for Fat Fellows" sudden dissolution. They soon discovered that it was all a ruse to get portly mortician Jonathan Mortimer to leave his morgue for an extended period of time. As the two heroes uncovered, Mortimer's business partner was secretly a criminal calling himself the Chameleon and he his gang to dig a tunnel from the morgue into the bank next door. Discovering this, Cap and Bucky shut down their operation and unmasked the Chameleon.

In 1946, William and Fred were invited to the wedding of Philip Carreaux by one of their fellow soldiers. There they learned of an ancient family curse involving an ancient wizard and witch. The pair failed to save Philip from the supposed curse, but uncovered the "wizard" to be Frank Lavalle a jealous lover who wished to marry Philip's bride and resorted to murder to try and win her over. In one of their more bizarre cases, Captain America and Bucky clashed with a creature called Am, a creature that was brought to life through a "telepathic typewriter" created and controlled by writer Allan Slake. With the aid of Daily Globe reporter Dorothy Roberts, Cap and Bucky stopped Am by using the typewriter to write the creature's death and later destroying the device. Captain America and Bucky next came to the aid of reclusive artist Hugo Pergody from having his valuable works of art claimed by crooks who were seek-ing to trick him into turning over ownership to them. Next, Captain America and Bucky stopped a nationwide crime spree orchestrated by the Robe a criminal who found the long lost mystical artifact called the "Cloak of Evil". They destroyed the cloak after the Robe and his empire was defeated. They also stopped Ivan the Sculptor who used a complicated voodoo themed ruse to kill his victims, leaving them to believe that by carving a bust of them, he could kill them through mystical means.

Captain America and Bucky's next case led to a clash with the diminutive criminal called the Big Guy. Although they stopped the crook stealing a shipment of silver, Big Guy and his girlfriend managed to escape. They were next drawn to the set of "The Death of Scarface" where a real murder mystery was being perpetuated by horribly scarred actor Bel Cummings. Cap and Bucky stopped him before he could kill all his intended victims. The military then dispatched William and Fred to survey the volcano on Oka Sama Island which had apparently become active again. However, as Captain America and Bucky they exposed a plot by Dr. Weerd to drive the locals away so they could claim the gold deposits in the area. Returning to the United States, the two heroes stopped the crime spree of Sensitivo a criminal with delicate hands that allowed him to pull off his crimes. They next stopped a gang of thieves who were stealing the vaccine for a serious illness, and stopped the murder spree of yet another deranged actor Myron Delasco who believed himself to be the character "the Merry Widow Maker" after suffering a head injury.

Captain America and Bucky were next sent on a mission by the military to Algiers to investigate the theft of war relief supplies being shipped to Europe. There they exposed a plot to steal the supplies by Miguel Juan Gonzales LopezIruil who was obsessed with American culture. Back in the United States, the duo helped protect boxer Rocky Norris from a gambling racket, and shut down money counterfeiters trying to proliferate their phony money at Cumulus College with the aid of absent minded Professor Squiggins. The pair were invited on a cruise aboard the SS Tranquility, where they stopped an attempt to spring Harriet "Harry" Hawkins from escaping Seaside Prison. Captain America and Bucky then assisted the San Francisco Police Department in apprehending the Silk Stocking Strangler who terrorized the area for months. Captain America and Bucky also clashed with a criminal impersonating the Crooner a popular musician, convinced law abiding citizen Bill Summers that a curse on a monkey statue is all in his head, and helped rescue travel-ling salesman Doc Spiel's son from Jug Baker and his gang. After, they stopped disgruntled wood carver the Statue of Death, and sports gambler the Sportsman. In another bizarre case, Captain America and Bucky found themselves in the so-called House of Hate a building that caused those inside to become violent. For a brief moment Cap and Bucky succumbed to the influence of the house and fought each other until they fought off its control. When the house was set ablaze, the two heroes helped get everyone to safety.

Reuniting with the All-Winners Squad, Captain America and Bucky were informed by the Human Torch about a challenge by a criminal calling himself Isbisa who had plot-ted a number of crimes based on the various ages of man. Captain America and Bucky were given a clue to a crime involving the Bronze Age. They went to an art museum where they clashed with a mobster named Piggy and his gang, and prevented them from stealing a valuable painting. They later reunited with the rest of the All-Winners Squad and deduced that Isbisa was distracting the heroes so that he could steal an atomic bomb. The group then worked together to stop Isbisa, and captured him in the act of trying to steal the bomb.

In 1946 the All-Winners Squad learned that Adam II, a malevolent android creation of Prof. Phineas T. Horton, intended to substitute a robot double for a Boston congressional candidate. Captain America and Bucky found Adam II and learned that the candidate Adam II intended to replace was John F. Kennedy. The two adventurers battled Adam II and other robots. Bucky was knocked unconscious, and Captain America went to Boston's Old North Church to summon the other members of the All-Winners Squad. One of Adam II's superhumanly strong robots caught Captain America and crushed him in its grip, fatally injuring him. The dying hero managed to use a flare device to render the robot inactive, simultaneously providing the signal that summoned the other members of the All-Winners to Kennedy's rescue.

Another costumed adventurer, the Patriot, found Captain America just before he died. Inspired by the second Captain America's noble sacrifice, the Patriot donned a spare Captain America costume he found in the nearby flagship of the Sub-Mariner. Trying to revive Nasland with the equipment on board the ship, the Patriot soon discovered that William's injuries were fatal and there was no chance for his survival. Before he died, William revealed his identity to the Patriot, and asked him to take on the mantle of Captain America. Thus the Patriot became the next man to take the identity of Captain America. He and other members of the All-Winners Squad, summoned by William's signal , prevented Adam II from killing Kennedy and replacing him with an android.

The United States later sanctioned the Patriot to continue acting as Captain America, covering up the death of William Nasland, much like they covered up the apparent death of Steve Rogers’s years earlier. Jeff Mace remained active as Captain America until he retired from the role in the early 1950s after a series of souring experiences working for the US government. Mace was succeeded by William Burnside who took over the mantle of Captain America from 1953 until 1955 when his unstable Super-Soldier Serum made Burnside mentally unstable forcing the US government to place him in suspended animation. Eventually the identities of every man who ever acted as Captain America was released to the public. The legacy of Nasland and the other men who became Captain America and their legacies are part of an exhibit at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. Eventually, Steve Rogers was discovered in the modern age by the Avengers, and subsequently renewed his role as the original Captain America.
