HISTORY
Lady Jacqueline Falsworth was the daughter of the British aristocrat, Lord Montgomery Falsworth, who had been known during World War I as the costumed champion Union Jack. In early 1942, Jacqueline was serving in Britain's Women's Voluntary Service when she was attacked by the vampire Baron Blood, an agent of Nazi Germany. Unknown to Jacqueline at this time, Baron Blood was actually her own uncle, Lord John Falsworth. Baron Blood was forced to flee by the original Human Torch, who took Jacqueline to her home, Falsworth Manor, where the Torch met her father. Lord Falsworth and Jacqueline be-friended the Torch and his fellow members of the Invaders, a team of costumed adventurers who battled the Axis powers on behalf of the Allies during World War II.

Baron Blood abducted Jacqueline but was defeated by Union Jack and the Invader Captain America. Suffering from a great loss of blood from being bitten by Baron Blood, Jacqueline was rushed to a hospital by the Invaders. There she received an emergency blood transfusion from the Human Torch. While she was recovering, the reluctant Nazi agent Blue Bullet attacked the hospital. To her surprise, the still-recuperating Jacqueline discovered that she could now move at superhuman speed. She courageously used her new powers to save the Human's Torch's life from the Blue Bullet's attack. The Blue Bullet was then defeated by another Invader, the Sub-Mariner.

Jacqueline assumed that her new super-powers were a result of the combination of a foreign element introduced into her bloodstream by Baron Blood's bites and the artificial blood given her by the android Human Torch, though in later years she would discover they had actually jointly activated latent mutations in Jacqueline, granting her among others a mutant regenerative power. Following her complete recovery from her injuries, Jacqueline made herself a costume, took the name Spitfire (after the British war planes of the period), and volunteered for Invaders membership. She was accepted into the team. Spitfire fought alongside the Invaders, including her brother who had become the new Union Jack, while the group was in the European Theater of Operations. At the war's end, she retired as a costumed adventurer.

In 1956, she married the British nobleman Lord Crichton. They subsequently had a son, Kenneth. Desiring a quiet life, Jacqueline in-formed people that her superhuman capabilities had gradually faded, though in truth they simply became more of a strain to use as she aged. After being widowed, Lady Crichton, as she was now known, moved back to Falsworth Manor to care for her aged father, who died a year after her return there. Lady Crichton continued to live in retirement at Falsworth Manor.

Later, Jacqueline helped assemble Namorita, Captain America, and Union Jack to aid the former Invaders, the original Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner, who were captured by the latest incarnation of the Nazi villain, the Master Man. In attempting to rescue their ally, Jacqueline was badly wounded, and survived only thanks to yet another emergency blood transfusion from the android Human Torch, which had a side effect of making her young again, her body reverting to look approximately 16 years old. Lady Falsworth became involved in the day-to-day matters of Namor's company, Oracle, Inc., as she adjusted to her new situation.

She later joined the New Invaders, but resigned with most of the other members after the Torch's death. She also had a brief relationship with the modern day Union Jack, Joey Chapman, but they broke up due to the large age difference.

A short while later, she became aware she was beginning to display vampiric qualities, including fangs; finding she could control the blood-lust and remained unaffected by traditional vampire weaknesses, she initially kept this change secret, even from those closest to her. She joined MI-13 as part of Britain's response to the Skrull Invasion by the Skrull Empire. In battle with two Super-Skrulls, Spitfire ripped out their throats with her teeth, openly revealing her new condition. When new MI-13 recruit and vampire hunter Blade first met Spitfire, he staked her. She survived only thanks to the powers of fellow MI-13 member Faiza Hussain, but later began a romantic relationship with Blade. During Dracula's attack on Britain, Jacqueline's vampire son Kenneth visited her and led her into a trap, where Dracula magically forced her into servitude and membership of the Vampire Nation. While she initially resisted, it seemed that he was eventually able to convince her to become one of his minions. It was later revealed that Spitfire had been a double agent the whole time, always helping Pete Wisdom in gaining intelligence on Dracula's whereabouts.

HISTORY
Steppenwolf was the brother of Heggra and commander of Apokolips's military during her reign and previously that of her husband Yuga Khan. Her son, Darkseid, sent Steppenwolf to New Genesis, where he killed Izaya's wife. Izaya, in revenge, killed him in the ensuing war between the two planets. However, he was resurrected, and Darkseid once again put him command of the military. Steppenwolf recently appeared in Los Angeles, recovering Apokoliptan technology that had been discovered beneath the city streets by the Flash. The Flash, with the help of several Justice Leaguers, managed to capture him. Steppenwolf later appears as a member of the board of the Dark Side Club.

Darkseid decided that he wanted Earth 0 for himself so invaded the world expecting little resistance as usual. However the heroes of the world banded together against the God of Evil in an attempt to save their world. One of the heroes called Superman was captured and given to DeSaad to experiment on with the assistance of Steppenwolf. Unfortunately the hero Cyborg was able to reprogram the invasion forces' Boom Tubes sending them to random locations. Steppenwolf was stranded on Earth 2 where he met and had a child with Wonder Woman of Earth 2. The child named Donna was raised by her mother as Steppenwolf was forced to lay low.

When Darkseid declared war on the universe of Earth 2, Steppenwolf led an army to their world in what would come to be known to the humans as the Apokolips War. Steppenwolf successfully managed to kill Earth 2's Wonder Woman and Superman during their last ditch attack against him. However, he was finally defeated and pushed back after Batman sacrificed his life to send all of Steppenwolf's Parademons back through boom tubes.

Unable to get back to Apokolips after his defeat during the Apokolips War, Steppenwolf spent the next five years in hiding trying to escape the World Army with the help of his remaining forces and his daughter Fury. Steppenwolf took control of the small country of Dherain after killing their king and set up plans to further conquer the world. Moments after he had finally taken down the World Army and declared himself ruler of Earth 2, Steppenwolf was apparently killed by one of his Hunger Dogs Brutaal.

Years later, Steppenwolf would appear at Darkseid's side, somehow revived, to serve once again during his fight against the Anti-God on Earth 0.

After the death of Darkseid during the battle with the Anti-Monitor Apokolips fell into a state of chaos. Steppenwolf led his hunger dogs as one of the factions attempting to survive the conflict, not being particularly interested in the throne. Kalibak took a majority of the planets resources in a desperate grasp for power leaving many other groups including the Hunger Dogs with little resources. The low life of Apokolips brought Lex Luthor of Earth 0 to the planet hoping that he could lead them, restoring order to the planet. Luthor, not wanting the responsibility, summoned Super-man of Earth 0 to the planet along with his wife and son Superboy.

Due to a majority of his forces needing sustenance Steppenwolf attempted to feed the dogs to his men but was stopped by Superboy who had been separated with his parents. The boy stole the wolves and headed to where Kalibak was attempting to find his father in the fire pits by blasting into the planet with the Chaos Cannon. After a short conflict Superman took up ruler ship of the planet and restored order before returning back to his Earth.

TALENTS: Leadership; Marksman; Martial Arts: A, B, C, D, E; Pilot – air; Seduction; Weapon Specialist: Lasso and Bracelets; Weapons Master; Wrestling;

CONTACTS: CSA; Ultraman; Owlman; Alexander Luthor

HISTORY
Superwoman is an Amazonian native of Earth 3 and a member of the Crime Syndicate. She entered into a dysfunctional relationship with her teammate Ultraman, but also had an affair with another teammate, Owlman, while at the same time carrying out another affair with Alexander Luthor, the Crime Syndicate's greatest enemy and one of the "heroes" of Earth 3 (although just as brutal and deadly as the Syndicate). She also delighted in using her Lasso of Submission to enslave others to her will, and apparently posed for suggestive photographs taken by her world's James Olsen, in exchange for him doing favors for her.

When the Crime Syndicate's world was destroyed by a powerful being, they attempted to escape to another Earth, but apart from two of their number - The Outsider and Atomica - Superwoman and the others were held in a kind of limbo for five years until their allies brought them over to join them. The Syndicate imprisoned most of the members of the various Justice Leagues in the Firestorm Matrix and began a reign of terror over the world, eliminating any resistance.

Superwoman was pregnant, supposedly by Ultraman, but she told Owlman the baby was his. She manipulated both men, trying to make each suspect the other of treachery, and she wiped any records of herself so that Grid could not find out anything about her. When the Injustice League attacked, Superwoman tried unsuccessfully to enslave Sinestro to her will. When some of the League freed the Syndicate's prisoner Mazahs, Superwoman revealed her hand. It was Mazahs who was actually the father of her child, and she had manipulated the rest of the Syndicate into bringing him with them as their prisoner. Superwoman helped Mazahs battle Black Adam and Bizarro, but was taken out of the fight by Adam's lightning. Mazahs was killed by his counterpart Lex Luthor, Owlman escaped and Ultraman and Superwoman were captured and imprisoned. When her counterpart Wonder Woman visited her, Superwoman taunted her that her Lasso of Truth would not work on her, and gloated that her soon to be born son was destined to bring doom with him.

When the Anti-Monitor at last came to Prime Earth and killed Darkseid, several members of the Justice League became gods in the aftermath. The Justice League were left with little choice but to free Ultraman and Superwoman from A.R.G.U.S. custody, which they did along with a new Power Ring and the newly Grid-possessed Cyborg. Though initially hostile to them, Superwoman stopped her attack when Owlman returned, telling her that in order to succeed, the Crime Syndicate and the Justice League would have to work together.

During the fight against Steve Trevor - who had been forced to absorb the power of the Anti-Life Equation - and Grail, Superwoman gave birth to the child of Mazahs. Grail took the child, which possessed the same ability as Mazahs and this ability was used to absorb the Omega Effect from Lex Luthor as well as the Anti-Life Equation from Steve Trevor, causing her child to become the new Darkseid. Grail then incinerated Superwoman with her Omega beams.

Lena Luthor used Superwoman's DNA mixed with her own to create an army of "Bizarro Superwomen".

CONTACTS: Project 7734, General Sam Lane

HISTORY
Lucy Lane, like her big sister Lois, grew up an army brat under their father, Sam Lane. Lois was always more of a daredevil and a trouble-maker, however. Owing to her being the younger child, Lucy was sometimes more spoiled by her strict father (or at least, he was more inclined to get over her failings).

When she was grown up, Lucy be-came a flight attendant until a mysterious ailment left her blind. Depressed with her life, Lucy attempted suicide by jumping off a roof in Metropolis, only to be rescued by the first Bizarro. This Bizarro had a chalky white substance that coated his body and coming into contact with it somehow restored Lucy's sight. The Bizarro allowed itself to be destroyed, but in giving Lucy her sight back she got a new appreciation for life.

She later began dating Jimmy Olsen. The two remained together for approximately two years, but parted ways shortly after Superman's first arrival in Metropolis.

Once she was kidnapped by the villain Sleez and another time she was seriously injured by Death-stroke.

Lucy later resumed her relationship with Jimmy Olsen, but they eventually broke up after Jimmy quit the Daily Planet to work for WGBS.

While she was still dating Jimmy, Lucy met another Daily Planet reporter, Ron Troupe. Ron was instantly attracted to Lucy, much to his embarrassment (although luckily for him, Jimmy was too thick to pick up on it). After Lucy and Jimmy's breakup, Lucy asked Ron out on a date. Ron later had to call upon Superman to help rescue Lucy from an escaped ape-like creature that had broken out of S.T.A.R. Labs. When Jimmy, on scene filming the rescue makes light of the event (as though it was just good television), Lucy punched him out.

When Lois and Clark finally decided to get married, Lucy was responsible for throwing her sister both the bachelorette party and the bridal shower. Lucy has good intentions, but Lois was a little perturbed when the theme for the bridal shower ended up being "happy homemaker." Lucy was Lois's Maid of Honor (and ironically enough, Jimmy was the Best Man).

After dating Ron for some time, Lucy ended up getting pregnant. She only told Ron after she visited an abortion clinic, getting information about all her alternatives. Ron was opposed to the abortion, and begged Lucy not to rush into anything. Lucy asked Ron not to tell anyone about the pregnancy until she settled on what she was going to do. Ron, nevertheless, ended up telling Jimmy after Ron was fired (along with nearly everyone else) as Lex Luthor bought out the Daily Planet and shut it down. Jimmy then blurted out the news to Lois, who was relieved that Jimmy was not the father. Lucy and Ron decided to keep the baby and planned on getting married. His parents took the news very well -- hers did not. Sam nearly throttled Ron and Elinore insisted that Lucy give up the baby for adoption.

After months of delays and pressure from her family, Lucy Lane and Ron Troupe were finally married in a small ceremony during Lucy's ninth month of pregnancy (Lois and Lucy crashed Ron's bachelor party, hiding in the giant cake). Lois was with Lucy when she gave birth a few weeks later.

Lucy Lane left Superman's immediate circle of friends for many years. During this time, she did not respond well to her father's death in the Imperiex war. Trying to honor his memory, she joined the military. She appears to have left Ron Troupe (or possibly history was altered by the Infinite Crisis). Bitter and angrier than ever before, she still blamed Lois for General Sam Lane's death during the war against Imperiex. Essentially, she thought Lois broke his heart by putting her love for Superman before her duties as a daughter.

Lucy referenced her former appearances, even mentioning her "dating boys in Lois' circle" as failed attempts to live her life through her more successful sister, but she eventually choose to sacrifice her life and live the military career her father intended for Lois, driving an even deeper wedge between the two sisters.

However, unbeknownst to her, General Lane was still alive, and working with the government on projects designed to deal with Kryptonians on Earth. Lucy and her father worked together on a project that resulted in Lucy Lane gathering superhuman powers and abilities.

Lucy managed to infiltrate New Krypton under the guise of a Kryptonian that would be known as Superwoman. The exact reason Lane as Superwoman acting as liaison between the surviving Kryptonians and Earth have not been revealed. Lucy wore a super suit that was revealed to be a magical creation of Mirabai the Forlorn. The suit duplicated the abilities of a Kryptonian but protected her from Kryptonite poisoning. When Supergirl figured out that Lucy was Superwoman and that she was behind several murders the two fought. In the middle of the battle, a furious Supergirl damaged the suit, unwittingly destroying the magic containment field around Lucy that gave her superpowers. The field exploded and Lucy was presumed dead.

After her supposed demise Lucy Lane was seen to have been resurrected and had become an amalgam of "all" the alien races whose powers were in the Superwoman suit. Lucy killed a physician with an electric blast and says she was ready for duty. Lucy abducted her sister and brought her to their father to watch the events as they unfold-ed. She was later defeated by Supergirl and taken into custody for her crimes.

Lucy was transferred to S.T.A.R. Labs, where Dr. Light worked on removing the alien strands from her genetic makeup. There, she was visited by her sister Lois who in-formed Lucy that she was cutting ties with her.

HISTORY
Lana is the childhood friend and teen girlfriend of Clark Kent. After high school, Clark revealed his powers to her. Soon after they broke up as Lana went on to college to become an engineer and Clark left for Metropolis to become Superman.

After College she and Clark reconnected but as friends and not romantically. Lana works as an electrical engineer, and will often use her scientific knowledge to help Superman on his adventures. On one such adventure, Lana teams up with John Henry Irons (Steel) to help Superman stop Brainiac from assimilating the minds of every person on earth. But while she helps save billions of lives, she could not save her parents; both of whom died as a result of the attack. After their deaths, Lana moves back to Smallville with her boyfriend John Henry. Shortly after these events, Clark dies. His death causes a solar energy explosion, which strikes both Lana and Lois Lane, who were both present.

One night, not long after Clark's death, Superman from the previous timeline finds Lana attempting to break into Clark's crypt. When asked why she was breaking into the tomb, she explains that she had made a promise to Clark to bury him next to his parents in Smallville. She also reveals that she knows the location of Clark's Fortress of Solitude, but can't explain how she came by that knowledge. Superman then enlists her help to revive Clark. However, it quickly becomes apparent to both of them that they will not be able to revive him. He then flies her to Smallville where she reburies Clark's remains next to his parents.

Later, it is revealed that when Superman died, Lana and Lois Lane both absorbed energy released from his body. The two women developed superhuman powers. Lana gained the power to convert solar radiation into various forms of electromagnetic energy, while Lois developed powers similar to Super-man's. Lana helped train Lois to control her powers, with both Lana and Lois becoming Superwoman.

While the New Superman- Lex Luthor- was parading his new ultimate battleship for the defense of Metropolis, the ship began to sway towards the shore potentially killing hundreds of people. As Lex Luthor's battleship wasn't functioning, Lois and Lana took it upon themselves to halt the mechanical monstrosity. After managing to halt the vessel Luthor informed the pair that the ship had been sabotaged, and so they decided to investigate while they helped evacuate the ship. Upon investigation the two Super-women stumbled across a female Bizarro which attacked the pair. During the battle Lois's power fluctuated resulting in her death.

Immediately after Lois' death Luthor's assistant Mercy Graves arrived on the scene and revealed herself to be another female Bizarro. Seeing she was outmatched she fled the scene and rendezvoused with Steel. After a trip to the Police Precinct the pair returned to base where Steel and their niece Natasha did tests on Lana, as she was suffering from the same nose bleeds as Lois was before her death. Upon waking up one night she decided to assist Steel and Natasha with Atomic Skull who had escaped Stryker's Island during the city wide blackout. After taking Atomic Skull down the three agreed to investigate corruption and brutality on Stryker's Island if Skull helped them bring power back to the city which he did.

After this Superwoman went on to discover that an alternate timeline’s Clark and Lois were trapped in her timeline. Together with John Henry and Natasha, she conducted tests on herself, finding out in the process that she was dying. One evening Traci Thirteen entered the complex and informed her that Lex was being held hostage by his sister Lena, who was using the alias Ultrawoman and attempting to use Lex's Battleship to take over the city. At that very moment Ultrawoman led her army of Bizarro clones of the Crime Syndicate's Superwoman towards the battleship where she lifted it with her Telekinetic powers. Ultrawoman changed Luthor's ship into a much more deadly version of itself. She then sent her Bizarresses to secure the city and gather subjects into containment cubes for later experiments.

Lana collapses shortly after she defeats Ultrawoman, and would have died, if not for the intervention of John Henry Irons and Clark Kent. Clark saves her by placing her into his Kryptonian Battle Armor. According to Clark, the healing fluid of armor can help the wearer heal from almost any injury. When Lana wakes, she is cured of her illness. But while she is no longer dying, she no longer has powers. John and his niece, Natasha Irons, then realize that the 'Insect Queen' armor, which Lana wore to defeat Ultrawoman, had copied her previous powers. Lana has since altered her armor to be Superwoman again, and continues to fight crime.

While working on finding the meta-humans who escaped from Stryker's Island during Ultrawoman's attack, Lana winds up on the trail of Skyhook, the villain who kidnapped John Henry's nephew many years ago. After learning that John's brother Crash, a Stryker's escapee, was hunting him, Lana seeks him out, hoping to bring him in before any of the vengeance fueled Irons do. Though she manages to find out where he is hiding, she fails to capture him when her suit malfunctions due to electromagnetic interference. Unwilling to stay down, Lana goes to repair her armor and sees something in the data recorded by the suit that shocks her. Before she goes after Skyhook again, she tries to talk John Henry out of seeking revenge, to no avail. Determined to protect her boyfriend from himself, she reaches Skyhook as Crash is fighting him. During the fight, Lana intentionally exits the suit, and defeats Skyhook. She reveals to Steel and Natasha what she learned from reviewing the suit: even though the suit was channeling her powers, it turns out the energy was still inside her the entire time. Letting the authorities have Skyhook, Lana then flies off to begin investigating why she still has her abilities.

With a successful fighting FEAT Supremor can attach his tentacles to a victim, allowing it to drain the victim's memory. To determine how long it takes to absorb someone's memory, this Good (10) rank power drained 10 points of reason per round until the characters reason is temporarily zero- if Supremor continues to drain psionic energy and memories after that point, there is a cumulative 20% chance per round of permanent brain damage to the victim (-1 CS on reason and intuition) The amount the victims mind and memory that has been duplicated is based on what percentage of the victims Reason was drained.

Repair Systems- Supremor's internal repair systems have a Ex (20) rank regeneration ability.

HISTORY
Supremor is an android created by the Kree, it resembles the Supreme Intelligence in appearance. Supremor took part in the Kree/Shi'ar War as a member of the Starforce.

HISTORY
In a secret facility located in the Louisiana swamp lands, scientist Alec Holland and his wife Linda invented a Bio-Restorative Formula that would solve any nations' food shortage problems. Ferrett and Bruno - thugs working for Nathan Ellery - barged into Alec's lab, knocked him out, and planted a bomb in the facility. Alec woke up just as the bomb exploded, and in flames, he ran into the swamp. His body had been drenched in the bio-restorative formula, and this affect-ed the plant life of the swamp, imbuing it with Alec's consciousness and memories. The newly conscious plant life formed a semblance of a human form and rose up from the bog as the Swamp Thing, the latest in a long line of Earth elementals created when The Green was in need of protection.

The Swamp Thing originally thought that he had been Alec Holland, transformed by the freak accident into a monster. He sought to regain his human body, but often met opposition in the form of Anton Arcane, and his ever growing legion of UnMen.

After finally defeating Arcane, Swamp Thing was set upon by General Sunderland's men, in a covert military operation. The resulting attacks blasted a hole in Swamp Thing's head and destroyed the lives of many of his friends. Sunderland brought the Swamp Thing's body back to Sunderland Corp to study and unlock the secret of the Bio-Restorative Formula.

Sunderland hired the Jason Woodrue to study Swamp Thing's body, which he had stored in a cryo-chest. Over the course of his research, the Floronic Man deduced the truth about Swamp Thing that he was a plant that thought it was Alec Holland - the real Alec Holland had died in the explosion. Sunderland and Woodrue parted on bad terms, so the scientist used Sunderland's automated computer systems to raise the thermostat in Swamp Thing's cryo-chest. This allowed Swamp Thing's body to regenerate, and in his search for Sunderland, he stumbled across the Floronic Man's report, which sent him into a mindless rage. He killed Sunder-land, and set off for the swamps.

Swamp Thing went into shock from learning his true origins. He rooted himself into the swamp and spent three weeks dreaming; his mind eventually traveling into The Green. Woodrue returned to the swamp and discovered Swamp Thing's connection to The Green, but the experience drove him mad. When Swamp Thing realized the presence of Woodrue's corrupting influence there, he wrenched himself back into reality. He caught up with Woodrue and convinced the villain that his war against animal life was pointless, reminding him that plant life and animal life needed each other to survive.

A budding friendship grew between Swamp Thing and his dead nemesis Anton Arcane's niece Abby Cable. Her husband Matthew grew resentful of her disinterest in sex, and turned to drink, further pushing her toward the Swamp Thing. She asks for his help when her autistic students at Elysium Lawns were being tormented by Kamara, the Monkey-King. Swamp Thing destroyed the demon with the help of Etrigan.

On the same night that the demon attacked, Matthew decided to go out and help Abby. Unfortunately, his alcoholism caused him to crash his car, mortally wounding him. In order to stay alive, he made a pact with the spirit of Anton Arcane, who possessed his body.

Later, Swamp Thing was visited by the ghost of Alec Holland, and eventually learned that Alec's skeleton was still lying at the bottom of the bayou. Diving down, Swamp Thing retrieved the body and gave it a proper burial. This allowed the Alec's spirit to free itself from the earthly plane and ascend into Heaven.

One day, Abigail finally realized that the man she had thought was her husband for weeks had actually been her uncle Anton. Her feeling of disgust sent her into a horrible shock. Swamp Thing confronted the possessed Matthew, and with the guidance of the monster, he discovered Abby's body. Unfortunately, Arcane had sent the "soul" of his niece to Hell. In a rage, Swamp Thing beat Arcane to a pulp, allowing Matthew's trapped spirit to cast the soul of the sorcerer out of his body and back to the nether world. The effort returned Matthew to control of his body, but left him comatose.

To set things right, Swamp Thing traveled into The Green and beyond; to the Spirit World and on into Hell, all to reclaim Abby's soul. He was forced to fight off a legion of the damned, including Anton Arcane, but he prevailed again with the help of Etrigan.

After Abby was returned to life, Swamp Thing and Abby confessed their love for each other. To celebrate the beginning of their relationship Swamp Thing grew hallucinogenic tubers for Abby to eat, enabling her to see the world as he did.

Swamp Thing's body was destroyed after an encounter with a man saturated by dangerous levels of radiation. He sent his mind into the Green to attempt to form another body, and with Abby's help and weeks of effort, Swamp Thing reformed most of his new body. In the meantime, occultist John Constantine had heard news of a coming danger, and found his way to the swamp. Upon meeting the Swamp Thing, he informed the creature that it was a plant elemental. Constantine hinted at knowing much more about the nature of the Swamp Thing than he was saying, and promised to discuss the matters further if Swamp Thing met him in Rosewood, Illinois in a week's time.

Constantine informed Swamp Thing that he had not completely destroyed the vampire population of Rosewood during his last encounter with them, and a number of them adapted to live within an aquatic settlement. Swamp Thing remembered that running water could destroy the vampires - they could only live underwater because the body of water covering Rosewood was stagnant. In order to deal with them, Swamp Thing extended his abilities further than ever before, forming a new body from a mountain and letting its river merge with Rose-wood's, thereby wiping the vampires out. Rather than provide any new information, Constantine told Swamp Thing to meet him in Maine in two weeks' time.

In Kennescook, Maine; Swamp Thing encountered Phoebe, a werewolf filled with outrage on behalf of abused and oppressed women throughout history. He prevented her from killing her husband, but was forced to watch on helplessly as she committed suicide. Constantine arrived soon after, and told Swamp Thing to go back home to Louisiana.

Abby found work on the set of a soap opera being filmed on the old Robertaland Plantation. Things went awry when the lead actors became possessed by the spirits of the murderous landowners. Dead slaves that worked on the plantation rose from the grave as zombies. Sensing the evil there, Swamp Thing burned Robertaland to the ground after realizing that it was the source of their power.

Eventually, Swamp Thing began to see a pattern emerging in all the monstrosities he had been confronting across America, but admitted he would need Constantine to explain it to him. Constantine instructed him to travel to San Miguel, California, promising that this would be the last leg of their mission before he revealed everything he knew.

In San Miguel, Swamp Thing visited the abandoned Cambridge mansion, haunted by every person ever to have been killed by the Cambridge repeater firearm. A group of thrill seekers were menaced by the ghosts. Swamp Thing managed to exorcise the ghosts from the mansion by making the sound of a hammer on a big table within. Afterward, Constantine appeared and explained that he wanted the Swamp Thing to see first-hand the effects that the coming Crisis was having on Earth.

Swamp Thing and Constantine witnessed the effects of the Crisis: blood red skies, and people and beasts from many different time periods, displaced into the present day. The pair were suddenly teleported to the Monitor’s Satellite by Alexander Luthor. Constantine introduced Swamp Thing to Alexander, who had formed a plan to ensure that reality survived the Crisis. Constantine promised that the Swamp Thing would likewise ensure that the spiritual realms survived the after-effects of the Crisis.

Constantine revealed that after the Crisis ended, reality would be unstable and vulnerable for a time. Meanwhile, the ancient cult of the Brujeria were taking advantage of this situation in order to summon the Shadow Creature which would destroy Heaven. To do so the Brujeria needed to encourage a world-wide belief in monsters and the darker things in life. They were the ones responsible for the rash of nightmarish incidents that Swamp Thing had contained over the past few weeks.

He planned for him and the Swamp Thing to travel to South America and battle the cult - but first he wanted Swamp Thing to visit the Parliament of Trees in Brazil, where he promised that he would finally learn the truth about his nature as a plant elemental.

Swamp Thing bid farewell to Abby for a while, and as they kissed, they were unaware that amateur photo-journalist, Howard Fleck, was taking pictures of them.

Swamp Thing traveled to Brazil, where he met the Parliament of Trees. There, he encountered one of the previous plant elementals, Alex Olsen. Olsen explained that the Swamp Thing was the latest in a long line of plant elementals, who had all since joined the Parliament in their retirement. Communing with the others, Swamp Thing was able to learn the histories of his predecessors.

Joining up with Constantine, Swamp Thing managed to destroy the Brujeria by flooding their under-ground caves with dirt and crushing them with tree-roots. Unfortunately, his decision to save Constantine's life provided the Brujeria with enough time to send their messenger to awaken the Shadow Creature. Constantine and Swamp Thing scrambled to come up with a plan to deal with the Great Darkness, and then split up.

Swamp Thing traveled through The Green to the afterlife, recruiting the help of Deadman, Phantom Stranger, The Spectre and Etrigan. Together, they prepared to make a stand against the Great Darkness in Hell. One by one, Swamp Thing's allies fell to the Darkness, failing to answer its questions - that is until the Swamp Thing tried entering it of his own free will, with peaceful intent.

Reflecting on what the Parliament taught him about nature, he offered insights to the Great Darkness that its place in the universe was necessary; that good would grow stronger by its opposition to evil. His talk sparked something in the Great Darkness. When it finally reached Heaven, the Great Darkness and The Presence joined in an alliance of balance, changing the nature of good and evil for the entire universe.

Back in Louisiana, Swamp Thing met with John Constantine again. Swamp Thing was distressed to learn that in his absence, Howard Fleck had released the photos of he and Abby, causing such a scandal that she ran away to Gotham City. The Louisiana police had charged her with obscenity and crimes against nature, and it became Gotham's job to hold her trial, and extradite her.

Swamp Thing sped to Gotham in order to free Abby from jail. He burst into the Gotham courthouse and demanded Abby’s release. When his demand was refused, he tapped into the Green, using his immense elemental power to cause Gotham to become overgrown with plant-life. In this way, he kept the city hostage until his wife was re-leased.

In the meantime, Batman asked Swamp Thing to turn Gotham back to normal, and the refusal of the creature led to a fight in which the much outmatched Batman was defeated. Finally, Batman convinced the mayor that Abby had not committed any crime, and that it would be in the best interest of everyone if charges against her were dropped. In response, Swamp Thing removed the overgrowth from Gotham.

As Swamp Thing was about to be reunited with Abby, he was attacked by Dwight Wicker and the D.D.I., who wanted to avenge the death of General Sunderland. They cut him off from the Green using a communications scrambler provided by Lex Luthor. Then, they set him aflame with napalm.

Locked out of The Green's frequency, Swamp Thing survived the at-tempted assassination by tuning into a different, alien one. He managed to grow a new body on a planet populated by only blue vegetation, unconnected to The Green. He stayed on the planet for a time, exploring it and even creating plant-replicas of people he knew from Earth to keep him company. Finding this to be ultimately pointless he destroyed his creations and gathered up the courage to try and grow a new plant-body elsewhere in the universe.

He finds his way to the planet Rann, where he meets and befriends Adam Strange. The planet was going through a devastating drought, and there were arrangements made to find a solution with Thanagarians. Swamp Thing reached down under the surface of the planet and brought its plant life back.

He attempted to grow a body from vegetation on a planet which seemed to be techno-organic. However, unbeknownst to him, the planet was sentient, and sought to mate with him. The entity forced Swamp Thing to mate with her, and afterwards Swamp Thing swiftly fled across the universe to find a new place to grow a body.

Finally, Swamp Thing found his way to the planet J586, where all plant life is sentient. With the help of Green Lantern Medphyll, Swamp Thing learned to shift his frequency, so that he could return to Earth and The Green.

Before reuniting with Abby at last, Swamp Thing murdered the men responsible for the assassination attempt.

After settling down again with Abby in the swamp, Swamp Thing traveled to the Parliament of Trees, but was greeted with surprised horror. The Parliament had assumed him dead, and had therefore begun to grow a sprout which would grow into a new elemental, once bound with a human spirit. The upshot of which being that having two elementals active at one time would set the balance of nature awry and cause calamity. The Parliament gave him the choice to either take root in the Parliament, and leave Abby forever, or to kill the Sprout. Swamp Thing refused to do either, whatever the consequences.

Eventually, Swamp Thing and John Constantine concocted a plan by which they would bind the Sprout to a human host so that he could retire to be with Abby until it was time to join the Parliament.

The Sprout attempted to bind with Solomon Grundy in Slaughter Swamp, but the monster resisted, eventually bathing in toxic chemicals in order to force the Sprout out. However, during his encounter with Grundy, Swamp Thing realized that the Parliament was trying to kill him in order to restore balance, given that he would not kill the Sprout.

He returned to the Parliament, and demanded to speak with a Commit-tee, to find a solution for the Sprout problem. In communing with the members, he discovered that across time, there have been hundreds of elementals, all of whom were once humans that were killed by fire. The meeting was a trap, however, and as he experienced pasts of the committee members, he began to take root.

However, at the same time, the Sprout attempted to bind with an insane, evil man named Alan Bolland who had just died in the midst of a terrorist attack. The Parliament sensed the evil within Bolland, and it shocked the Swamp Thing out of his hypnosis. He used his frequency shifting abilities to force the committee members out into space, and the resulting chaos forced the Sprout from Bolland's body.

John Constantine's contacts seemed to indicate that the Parliament's predictions were right. Something was wrong with the balance of nature. Using his contacts, he arranged to find out where and when the next candidate for binding with the Sprout would be ready. Constantine arranged to help reconcile an average man named Gary Holland with the idea of becoming the next Swamp Thing as his plane was destined to crash with no survivors. Meanwhile, Swamp Thing had hidden the Sprout on the moon. Upon his return through The Green, he encountered the lost souls of those on the crashed plane, and guided them all to heaven - including his intended replacement. There would have to be another plan.

The pair went through several other failed attempts, going so far as to try to bond the Sprout with Swamp Thing's friend Chester Williams. Fortunately, that was not required. Swamp Thing decided, at Abby's urging, to grow himself a more powerful brain in order to solve the dilemma. After one and a half months of deliberation, he managed to find a solution.

Swamp Thing used his abilities to take control of a somewhat unwilling Constantine's body, displacing Constantine into the astral plane. Then, in that human form, Swamp Thing and Abby finally consummated their relationship, conceiving a child for the sprout to bond to. In the body of a child, the Sprout would be given the chance to learn at a slower rate.

Despite seemingly having found happiness with his wife, Swamp Thing was soon set upon by the Dominators. Given that their weaponry was of a plant-based nature, they knew they had to eliminate the one being on the planet Earth who could easily render them toothless in their intended invasion. In order to dispose of him, the Dominators used a device to displace the Swamp Thing in time.

Swamp Thing found himself within the body of a soldier during the Second World War in 1945. There, he encountered a young Anton Ar-cane, using an abattoir as his lab for the creation of his Un-Men. Ar-cane used an artifact known as the Claw of Aelkhünd to send Swamp Thing further back in time.

Swamp Thing was then occupying the body of a downed French pilot during the Great War. There, he met Abby's grandmother Anaïs Ar-cane, who called on her young doctor son, Anton, to treat his wounds. Naturally, Anton's interest in Swamp Thing's biology was less than medical, and the result of their encounter faced Swamp Thing with the Claw again, sending him further back.

He next awoke in the old west in 1872, where he was trapped within a large chunk of amber. Eventually, a team of heroes including Bat-Lash and Hawk Haukins managed to free him. Hopefully, Swamp Thing arranged to have his photo taken with them, thinking that his pregnant wife might see him, and know he was okay. Knowing he had to go back further, he willingly faced the Claw again.

Swamp Thing became trapped again in a piece of amber, falling into the hands of Tomahawk, the old west hero. Another exposure to the Claw sent him back to medieval times when he encountered Merlin and Shining Knight, and an item believed to be the Holy Grail.

Further back, Swamp Thing encountered a tribe of early men, who lived in harmony with The Green. However, the time for their kind was at an end, and with the ice age, they were killed by a younger, more violent race of men. Before dying, a shaman that Swamp Thing be-friended gave to him three seeds, and stored the spirits of his people away within a piece of amber - which sent Swamp Thing back further still.

Swamp Thing arrived at a time when man had not yet been born. He encountered three of his predecessors, Yggdrasil - the tree of life, Tuuru - the tree of knowledge, and Eyam. They explained that they were the three founders of the Parliament of Trees, and sent him back once more into the past.

In a world desolate and devoid of life, Swamp Thing grew his brain large once more, and realized that it is he who created the Parliament, and began the succession of earth elementals. He planted one of the three seeds he was given, which later grew into Yggdrasil, imbuing it with a map of all his knowledge. Then, he allowed a flow of lava to overtake him, converting the sap within his enlarged brain to amber.

Finally, Swamp Thing realized that the reason he was sent back in time by the Claw was that the chunk of amber within it was a future version of himself. He waited millennia for the day when John Constantine would find his way to the present day location of the Claw, and release him.

Freed, finally, Swamp Thing arrived home just in time to witness the birth of his daughter Tefé.

Swamp Thing was unaware when he chose Constantine as the surrogate for the conception of his daughter, that he had received a blood transfusion from the demon Nergal. Likewise, he was unprepared for the fact that the powers of his daughter extend to both The Green and The Red. One day, when she witnessed him disappearing into The Green, she tried to do the same, and in the process, she destroyed her human body.

Tefé's astral form traveled the Spirit World until it ended up on the out-skirts of Hell. There, she caught the attention of the demon Beelzebub, not to mention Anton Arcane who managed to gain lowly demon status by way of his evil ways. Arcane was assigned to Nergal, who recognized his own taint within Tefé. Through this taint, the demons hoped to gain control of her. However, the child became the center of a political struggle in Hell between the Spider Guild, Beelzebub and Azazel.

Swamp Thing entered the Spirit World, where he encountered a number of alien spirits who were stuck in the human afterlife after the Dominators' attack. Together, they traveled to Hell. There, Etrigan explained the truth about Tefé's demon taint. Confronting Nergal, it seemed as though Swamp Thing was no match for him. However, Arcane's machinations had connected Tefé to the irrigation system of the whole city, and when she opened a window back to earth, it caused the destruction of the city and all those demons within.

The destruction of Nergal's garden released a particular spirit on Earth. It was Matango, a fungus-based life form. Meanwhile, Swamp Thing and his wife searched for a way to get Tefé back into a physical body. With Constantine's help, they determined that she must be the one to recreate the body herself, but without any knowledge of anatomy, she would not be able to do so properly.

A Shaman clued Swamp Thing in to the existence of a fountain in the Garden of Eden which can allow any being the ability to understand all languages. With this, Tefé could understand how to rebuild her own body with instruction. Swamp Thing met with the Parliament of Trees to find out the location of the fountain. There, he reunited with Yggdrasil, Eyam, and Tuuru, who explained that much of what he had been taught in the past was a ruse in order to bring about the birth of a plant-human hybrid: Tefé.

Yggdrasil explained that by planting the first of the three seeds, Swamp Thing brought about the birth of the Parliament. The second became his vessel forward through time. The Third was consumed by Tefé - and that is what woke Matango. The seed represented the ways of the old race of man, who were in communion with nature. The newer, more violent race of men served Matango's needs better.

The Parliament had once resided in the Garden of Eden, but a war with Matango and the fungus-based life force known as The Grey forced them out. The fountain was still to be found in the ruins of Eden, which lied in what became known as Antarctica. Swamp Thing traveled there, rescuing Eyam's trapped soul, collecting a frozen shard of the waters of the fountain, and narrowly escaping destruction by the Angels who protected the ruins.

As a hurricane threatened all of Louisiana Swamp Thing returned, giving Tefé the water from the fountain. With the help of Constantine's friend Brenda and the Shaman of Sarga, Tefé was able to rebuild most of her body. Unfortunately, Matango had assembled an army of servants of The Grey to capture the infant. The new body she grew became corrupted with mold and fungus, prompting Swamp Thing to destroy it, as the hurricane swept over the swamp, and destroyed everything in sight.

The next morning, Swamp Thing and his family decided to take Tefé to the Parliament of Trees for her protection.

Upon their arrival at the Parliament of Trees, Yggdrasil helped recreate Tefé's body for them. The Parliament then explained to Swamp Thing that Matango was once the thirteenth in the line of plant elementals, and the last to share in the secret knowledge of the Parliament's creation via timeloop. When Matango was protector of The Green, a meteor formed by the destruction of a planet that was home to The Grey landed on Earth. Matango volunteered to host the new life-form in order to learn more about it. Unfortunately, his own ambition was corrupted by The Grey's drive to consume, and he became its agent.

A war broke out between The Green and The Grey which forced the elementals to leave Eden. In order to have a compromise, the Parliament caused an ice age that allowed the new race of man to conquer the old race, so that in time, if man caused the downfall of The Green, The Grey could take its place. By giving a seed of the old race to his daughter, Swamp Thing caused the balance to be offset. The Parliament decided that in order to save The Green, they need-ed to confront Matango.

Swamp Thing began to amass an army of those elementals trapped by The Grey during the war. Unfortunately, Matango anticipated this, and all of the efforts were in vain, leading to Swamp Thing's capture and imprisonment, deep in the Pacific Ocean. Swamp Thing risked the death of all those imprisoned by attempting to form a body there, but was fortunately successful, with the help of others.

They returned to the Parliament, where they learned that Matango had ensnared Abby and Tefé. Climbing the rotting trunk of Yggdrasil, he reached them and set them free before heading onward to Matango's lair. Discovering that Matango's weakness was his old Green form, Swamp Thing used his own skin against him, and severed his connection to The Grey.

The Grey finds a new, more neutral vessel, who promises that he will wait until The Green's time has passed before allowing The Grey to inherit the earth.

After a time of being able to live happily with his family, Swamp Thing became aware of the resur-gence of Sunderland Corporation as a threat to the environment. Now run by General Sunderland's daughter Constance, Sunderland Corporation took on a personal vendetta against the Swamp Thing while pursuing its greedy, destructive interests.

Meanwhile, Tefé's power over both plants and flesh became a matter of concern for her parents when she showed a tendency to horribly mangle and kill those who angered her. When she killed the family cat in anger, it was decided that Swamp Thing would consult the Parliament of Trees for help. The Parliament sent Lady Jane to act as Tefé's governess, allowing Swamp Thing to focus his attention on protecting The Green.

Eventually, in Hell, the devil abdicated his rule, allowing many of the demons trapped there to escape - including Anton Arcane. Arcane returned to the land of the living with intent to possess Tefé's body, and cause pain to his niece Abigail. However, Arcane's attempted coup was thwarted by the appearance of Agony and Ecstasy, but he vowed to return.

When Constance Sunderland had an occultist named Doctor Polygon resurrect her father from death, it provided Anton Arcane with a body to host his spirit. Using Sunder-land's influence and his own power, Arcane managed to terrorize his niece once again.

With the threat of Anton Arcane's return, Abigail made Swamp Thing promise to stay with her and their daughter in order to protect them and be a husband and father. Reluctantly, he agreed - but the Parliament of Trees was displeased with the decision. When a great threat to the environment and The Green appeared, Swamp Thing was forced to choose between breaking his promise to Abby or allowing the Green to suffer. Ultimately, he chose neither, and created a double of himself to look after his family while he protected The Green. He had intended to return to his family once the threat was taken care of, but the Parliament prevented it - leaving his double to become firmly entrenched as the family man he could not be.

After being away for two weeks, Swamp Thing's body was restored, but with an altered appearance. The toxins gone, he returned to Louisiana to reunite with his family. Unfortunately, the double he created believed that he was more worthy to be with Abby and Tefé than Swamp Thing, and they fought. When Swamp Thing realized that the double was not merely a copy, but a part of him, Swamp Thing absorbed it back into his body.

Unfortunately, Abby was disgusted when she realized his deceit, and decided to leave him and move to New Orleans with Chester Williams.

Swamp Thing was among the he-roes who attended a memorial ser-vice for Green Lantern Hal Jordan. As a tribute to Hal and the destroyed Coast City Swamp Thing turned the barren Coast into a lush garden.

Unlike the previous incarnation, a mass of humanoid plant life with all of Holland's absorbed memories, this new renewed Swamp Thing was generated directly from the body of Alec Holland himself. Holland rising from the ground as a seemingly semi-sentient corpse until fully given human flesh again as the once formerly brilliant biologist. Holland stating that his last conscious memory was of hurling himself into the swamp to extinguish the flames engulfing him, having no memory of ever being Swamp Thing previously. The Life Entity stating essentially that Holland was a missing "vital component" to the being itself. Leaving us to ponder if the being Dark Avatar assaulting the city may have actually been the former Swamp Thing. Notably also bearing a very close physical resemblance.

The Entity imbued upon Holland all of the powers of The Green that the former had wielded. Including now additional elemental abilities, i.e. governance over fire, being now shown capable of breathing fire naturally. Swamp Thing then immediately growing to enormous height to battle the Corrupted Being. Immediately upon defeating it, acting to restore the Green to natural order.

Alec Holland woke in the Louisiana swamps with the last thing he remembered being his own death. However, he soon began to have memories of a life he never had the chance to live as the Swamp Thing. For a while, he attempted to ignore these thoughts and live a normal life as a carpenter, until the call of The Green grew too strong. Eventually, an emissary of the Green came to him and explained that he was meant to become the ultimate Swamp Thing, but he was prevent-ed from fully merging with The Green when his body died in the swamp, and instead, the Swamp Thing he remembers was born, without a human core.

Not long after learning this, Alec was attacked by horrible rotting monsters, and saved by a mysterious woman, whom he recognized from the Swamp Thing's memories as Abigail Arcane. She explained that in the same way he had always felt the pull of the Green, she had always been called by a force called The Black; The Rot. The Swamp Thing had drowned out its call when she was with him, but since he had disappeared, its call had become louder than ever.

Like Abigail, her half-brother William had a strong connection to The Rot, and he escaped from the hospital he had been kept in. He began amassing an army of creatures of the Rot in the Deadlands, under the supervision of the Rot elemental known as Sethe.

Eventually, William caught up with Alec and Abigail, and made clear his plan to make Abigail into the Black Queen. In the meantime, Alec and Abby had fallen in love, and with their kiss, Alec unwittingly opened the barriers between the Rot and the Green, and Abigail was taken from him. Moments later, Alec himself was overtaken by creatures of the Rot, and he was mortally wounded. Before dying, however, the Parliament of Trees kept Alec's spirit in stasis within the Green in order to chastise him for having failed them. Alec's love for Abigail, though, and his imminent death, gave him the courage to become the Swamp Thing. The Parliament used its last vestiges of power to transform him, and Alec at last be-came the elemental warrior king he was always intended to be.

HISTORY
Elizabeth Twoyoungmen is the daughter of Alpha Flight's Dr. Michael Twoyoungmen, when Elizabeth was four years old, her mother became deathly ill, her father promising to save her as the mystic Shaman. He was not able to do so, however, and Elizabeth hated him for it. She grew up with a neighboring family, the McNeils, not talking to her father for over fifteen years.

She called on his aid then because she believed that she had seen a spirit escape from an archaeological dig where she was working. She turned to him because she knew that he was Shaman, despite the spell he had cast to keep himself from being recognized, which he wrote off to the blood of many shamans over hundreds of years flowing through her veins.

Through the course of their first adventure together though, it was revealed that she was in fact, a legendary figure, the Talisman. Elizabeth soon joined Alpha Flight as the second recruit never to be trained by Department H. She soon left the team though, after Shaman attempted to save both her and Snowbird, but was only able to save Snowbird and the Beyonder had to save Elizabeth. She then became extremely vengeful toward her father and called upon the spirits to trick him. She told them to direct him to a birthing place for Narya's baby that contained an evil spirit, Pestilence. She intended to defeat the spirit herself to show up her father, but it instead defeated her, and ripped her Talisman circlet of power from her forehead. Shaman grabbed the circlet and became Talisman II. Elizabeth subsequently went back to university to return to her studies.

While at a dig, Elizabeth soon stumbled onto an ancient cairn, with a mystic object inside. Before she could touch it, she passed out. She was contacted through her dreams by Narya, who told her of the Dreamqueen and that she was coming to Earth and that only Elizabeth as Talisman could stop her. The mystic object would allow the Dreamqueen to control her if she touched it. She contacted Alpha Flight and soon became Talisman again. Elizabeth defeated the Dreamqueen, but soon realized her greatest challenge lay before her.

Elizabeth had to fight Llan, the Sorcerer, a being who wanted to destroy earth. She and Alpha Flight were finally able to beat him with some help from Doctor Strange.

Elizabeth soon went through a great trauma when, in an attempt to save the lives of several of the Master's experiments, she became a living filter for all the knowledge in Shaman's Medicine Pouch. This was too much for her brain, and overloaded her system, very nearly causing her to be brain-dead. After a great deal of work, however, Elizabeth finally recovered and once again became Talisman.

After her recovery, Elizabeth began to feel extremely odd and distant, and thoughts of death clouded her mind. While wandering through a mall, she was attacked by the second Omega Flight. After they accosted her, Elizabeth realized that something had happened to her. She contacted her father, who helped her discover that the Ska'ar had escaped from their prison dimension. Working with Beta Flight, Elizabeth was able to battle the Master and Omega Flight and return the Ska'ar to their prison. Talisman then became a member of Beta Flight and slowly moved towards active membership in Alpha Flight once again.

Talisman was later a member of the most recent version of Omega Flight.

She tried to bypass a S.H.I.E.L.D. unit, as she had a cure that could end an attacking Wendigo's rampage. However it took a while to get past security and before Talisman could do anything, the She-Hulk and Wolverine had already taken him down.

Over time, Elizabeth and her old teammate and mentor, Puck, became lovers.

HISTORY
CeCe Beck was presumably a quite ordinary girl of 90th century planet Binderaan, when she was transported to the Rock of Eternity by a magical weapon. By incident, other people, in the middle of a firefight, were transported there, and the old Captain Marvel gave her his powers to protect herself. She discovered shortly afterwards that her parents were murdered by a person empowered by the Three Faces of Evil, who was also going to attack the Science Council of Binderaan. CeCe eventually overcame him and trapped him in the Rock of Eternity. Captain Marvel allowed her to keep her powers.

When the Marvels of the 20th/21st century had been in a car accident, CeCe, as Thunder, was summoned by Tawky Tawny, Ibis the Invincible’s wife Tana and Uncle Dudley. However, she was lost in the timestream and ended up in the 31st century of Earth-247, where she was found by M'Onel and the rest of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

HISTORY
Fred Raymond, a young man in the employ of Professor Phineas T. Horton (the man who would later create the original Human Torch), was an expert on flame proofing who was conducting experiments with asbestos. Longtime exposure to asbestos ruined Raymond's health, and he left Horton's employ. Soon afterward, Raymond married Nora Jones, a scientist who was herself seriously ill from overexposure to radium in her experiments. They honeymooned in Mexico, and nine months later their son Thomas was born. They nicknamed him "Toro," the Spanish word for bull, as a private joke, in memory of the bullfights they had seen on their honeymoon. As Thomas grew into boyhood, his parents realized that they would probably die from their illnesses before he became an adult. However, they discovered that Thomas was immune to fire, and Nora theorized that he was a mutant, but it wasn't, in fact, a mutant gene, but a recessive Inhuman gene that gave him his abilities.

One day, Raymond's home was invaded by a costumed criminal named Asbestos Lady and her gang. The Asbestos Lady utilized fire in her crimes, protecting herself with asbestos, and intended to force Raymond to develop new means by which she could use asbestos for crime. The Human Torch, who had been watching the Raymonds' home, suspecting that the Asbestos Lady would contact such a noted authority on asbestos, broke in and captured the gang. However, the Asbestos Lady escaped.

The Human Torch learned about Thomas' immunity to fire from his parents, and decided to keep watch over the Raymonds, both to protect them from the Asbestos Lady and to monitor Thomas' development. Soon afterward, Fred Raymond learned that his wife had only a few more weeks to live. When the Human Torch revealed himself to Fred, he blamed the Torch for somehow cursing his son with flame powers that he could not control and ordered him out of his house.

He kept the news from her and in-stead hurriedly arranged a vacation trip for the family, which would be Nora's last. They embarked on the trip by train, but the Asbestos Lady, obsessed with making up for her failure to capture Raymond, had a huge tree trunk placed on the tracks. The train hit the trunk and was derailed and wrecked. Fred and Nora Raymond died when the train burst into flames, but Thomas escaped. A married team of circus fire-eaters, Tom and Ellie Alexander, were driving by and saw Thomas rushing into the flames unharmed to try to find his parents. Moved by both sympathy for the orphan's plight and by the realization that he would prove a boon to their act, the Alexanders decided to take him under their wing.

Weeks later, news reports began to spread about the amazing boy fire-eater, nicknamed "Toro the Fire-Eating Boy", and his immunity to flame. The Human Torch and the Asbestos Lady simultaneously realized who Toro was, and each set out to find him. The Human Torch captured the Asbestos Lady and her gang and then headed for the circus where Toro was performing. As the Torch approached Toro, his presence caused Toro to burst into flame like the Torch himself, but remaining unharmed. The Torch realized that Toro had the same powers that he himself did. The Torch became Toro's legal guardian and trained Toro in the use of his powers. Becoming a crime-fighting team, their first adventure led to the capture of the circus strongman Samson who stole a scientific device. Shortly after Toro's teaming with the Human Torch, he became a target of the Nazis who used spies posing as his deceased parents to convince him to go to Ger-many and assist in weapons manufacturing. Realizing he was duped too late, Toro was freed by the Torch and returned to America.

Toro and the Torch became almost inseparable, and always pitched in to help in a fight despite the dangers to a youth his age. Although maintaining a career in crime fighting, he also attended school. In his early adventures, Toro assisted the Human Torch in stopping mobster Blackjack, master criminal the Brain, the Hag, Imperial Japanese spy Matzu, the brilliant Dr. Smart, and arsonist Hawk Rivers.

Shortly thereafter, Toro soon became affiliated with a group of Bucky's Sentinels of Liberty Fan Club who formed together to be the Young Allies. Toro and Bucky frequently feuded over a number of subjects, from their own skills and abilities to which mentor of theirs was the better hero. Toro accompanies the Young Allies across the globe to help protect a British spy from the Red Skull and the Nazis. Their first adventure together ended when they were rescued in China by Captain America and the Human Torch. The Young Allies would reunite frequently during the 1940s. Accounts of Toro's activities with the Young Allies have been distort-ed by comic books published to boost support of America’s entry into World War II and many of these adventures were sensationalized and altered for matters of national secrecy.

Back alongside the Torch again, Toro assisted in clashing with foes such as the demonically powered Prince Itor, defending the nation of Alslavia from Nazi invasion, and expose the murderous Mr. Howe.

When the Human Torch's sometime ally the Sub-Mariner was convinced by Rathia to attempt to conquer the entire world, the Torch and Toro attempted to stop him. Both were captured and Toro was locked in a water filled room. Eventually succumbing to pneumonia, Toro was given immediate medical attention; however, while in a fever state, he broke free and nearly drowned in the Atlantic Ocean. Recovered by a British soldier, Toro was brought to a hospital in London to recover but the hospital was blown up during a Nazi air raid. Surviving the bombing, Toro smuggled himself back to the United States where he helped the Human Torch stop Nazi spies. Toro aided the Human Torch in foiling the Saint, N-4, the fire-proof Parrot, and the so-called "King of the Crime Syndicates". When the Parrot managed to break out of prison, Toro accompanied the Torch to California to bring him back to justice. However, the Parrot ended up blowing himself to bits instead. In Texas, they stopped the Japanese spies known as the Black Dragon Society from smuggling oil out of the country; in New York, they foiled illegal arms dealer Mr. Falton and the suicidal Legion of Despair.

When the American government learned of a combined attack on American soil by the Imperial Japanese, Nazi Germany, and a rogue faction of Atlanteans, the Human Torch and Toro were dispatched to Pearl Harbor to stop the Japanese attack there. Their highly publicized battle helped convince the American people to enter World War II, and the slaughter of American troops horrified the flaming duo. They decided to take a vendetta against the Japanese, flying to Japan and attacking Tokyo, slaying Admiral Nodope in the process.

In the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attacks, Toro and the Human Torch joined Captain America and Namor in forming the Invaders, a group of heroes sanctioned by President Roosevelt. Their first mission was to protect Prime Minister Churchill from an attack by the Nazi super-soldier Master Man. A grateful Churchill suggested the name of the team.

Reunited with the Young Allies, Toro and the others assisted Dora Livingstone in finding the mineral-rich island that her father Martin discovered and dubbed "New Amer-ica", clashing with Nazi agent Black Talon. Toro and the others were assisted by the Human Torch and Captain America.

Back in New York, Toro assisted the Torch in stopping weapons smuggler Izan, the homicidal maniac known as the Javelin, and saved the city from destruction by Japanese spy Moppino with his Atom-Expanding Ray. Focusing on the war effort in the Pacific, Toro helped the Torch destroy Japanese soldier Agent X's massive island fortress. Returning to New York, they also stopped German and Japanese spies from bombing many of the city’s subway tunnels. Remaining in the Big Apple, Toro assisted in stopping the Metal Mobsters, and capturing Captain von Spitz and his spies hiding out near Coney Island.

When the Nazis sprang their agent the Python out of Alcatraz, he used a device stolen from Professor Horton to transform the Human Torch into a massive flame creature under his control. Toro teamed up with the Sub-Mariner and Professor Horton to stop the Python. In the end, the trio stopped a Nazi air raid of New York, slew the Python, and restored the Torch back to normal. Later, Toro assisted the Torch in capturing sculptor turned spy Frank Portl.

Spending time with the Young Allies again, Toro and the youth group stumbled upon a plot by the Red Skull to poison everyone in Washington D.C. Toro and the Young Allies sent the Red Skull falling to his apparent death with the aid of Betty Ross, Captain America, and the Human Torch. Partnering with the Torch again, Toro help stop Nazi spy Von Brukk, defend comic book artist Carl Burgos from Nazi assassins, and stop war stamp counterfeiter Big Eyes. Stranded with the Torch in the small town of Somerville, Toro aided in stopping the Hooded Gang lynch mob, in New York capturing claustrophobic bank robber Johnny Clostro, and in Canada stopped Nazi bomber the so-called "Canadian Fuhrer". Next, Toro and the Young Allies headed to Hollywood to participate in a movie based on their adventures, little realizing that the Nazi spy known as the Owl was using the set as a means to assist in a Japanese invasion of the United States. How-ever, Toro and the other Young Allies soon learned of the plot and stopped the Owl with a helping hand from the Human Torch and Captain America.

Toro next assisted the Human Torch in combating the Bloodsucker Plants, a Nazi spy operation run by J-97, and Stumpy's fingerprint-planting gang. Later, when a South American diplomat was visiting the United States, he was kidnapped by the Nazi agent known as the Cobra. Toro was injured during the pursuit of the crook and had to be left be-hind; however, the young hero re-covered quickly and helped rescue the Human Torch from danger and assisted in the Cobra's capture. Toro also assisted the Torch in capturing the cross-dressing villain Madam Crime, stopped a Nazi plot to poison food concentrates going to American soldiers, and prevent the Beak from replacing supplies going to Russia with junk.

As the year drew to a close, Toro disobeyed the Torch's orders to stay behind while he went on a mission in the Atlantic. Stowing aboard the Navy ship, Toro was discovered and assisted in the take down of a Nazi U-boat. Aboard they found their sometime ally the Sub-Mariner and had him arrested as a traitor and placed in Castle Deptford. Namor broke out and fled to America, where the Torch and Toro tracked him. They soon learned that the Sub-Mariner was pretending to be a traitor and helped exposed Baron and Baroness Kidersky, two famous ballerinas, as Nazi spies. They then forced the dancers to send a signal to a Nazi fleet that led to their destruction.

In 1943, Toro continued his partnership with the Human Torch, rare-ly leaving his side. He assisted the Torch in protecting Doris Horton, the niece of Torch creator Professor Horton. During the incident, Toro expressed his jealousy over Doris, due to the potential love interest between her and the Torch. This would not come to be, and Toro joined the Torch in foiling the bombing plot of Nazi agent Mr. Hetler, experimental Japanese fighter planes hidden in Death Valley, defending the recently completed Mount Rushmore from destruction by Nazi sympathizer Eric Ward, and protecting an experimental plane from Nazi agent Colonel von Getter. They also traveled to England to defend it from invasion by Nazis led by Herr Blutcher. Returning to New York, Toro and the Torch stopped a Nazi plot to replace dummy rounds used in air raid practices with live rounds, and stopped Nazi operative the Blue Diamond from stealing a new experimental "puff gun" invent-ed by Professor Philo Baker.

After assisting the Torch in stopping a Nazi plot involving smuggling ex-plosives in bottles of prescription cough medicine, Toro joined the Young Allies in traveling to the nation of Bonara as ambassadors to finalize a rubber export deal with the United States. There he assist-ed the Young Allies in stopping the Ambassador of Terror from ruining the plans. He also assisted the al-lies in destroying a secret tunnel linking Japan to the United States that was being protected by Japanese agent known as the Serpent. Returning to New York City, Toro assisted the Human Torch in capturing Herr von Richter from blowing up New York's biggest banks and prevented Captain von Sar's bomb plot. He also assisted the Torch in stopping a mad scientist name Bashon and his army of ape-men, and stopped the so-called Sewer Man who was murdering wealthy people in the sewers beneath New York's financial district.

Toro accompanied the Torch to Turkey, where they prevented Nazi agent Elanor von Drei from possessing a sacred Yashmak to control the armies there. Returning to the United States, the pair protected a German defector from assassination, prevented Nazi spies from obtaining the body of their fellow agent Franz Papp that had hidden defense secrets, and saved members of an anti-Nazi play from the Carnival of Doom. When Nazi agents launched massive rockets from occupied France that could reach American shores, Toro accompanied the Torch there to destroy them, and returning home, helped the Torch free Russian war hero Sonia Petroya from the Nazi spy known as the Rabbit.

Joining the Torch in Washington D.C. to collect a citation awarded to them by the president, Toro assist-ed his mentor in stopping the Nazi saboteur known as Moonface from destroying key government buildings. He also joined the Torch in stopping the Claw's acts of sabotage, stopped the saboteur calling himself the Vulture, broke up a Nazi plot to sell tainted beef on the Chicago black market, stopping revenge killed the End, thwarted the Nazis' Purple Terror plot, and prevented Nazi spies from using their new "war water" on the George Washington Bridge. Continued ad-ventures included stopping Nazi spies led by Zomber, stopping a Nazi plot to blow up the White House, clearing the Torch's name when he was framed for murders caused by the Masked Fiend, and capturing Nazi scientist Professor Fear.

When the Torch and Toro clashed with the Japanese assassin known as the Kangaroo, Toro once more became jealous when it appeared that the Torch was developing a romantic interest in Jessica Hobbs, one of the Kangaroo's intended victims. However, these fears proved unfounded as nothing came of it. As the year came to a close, the Torch and Toro opened up an office in New York City. The pair came to the aid of their secretary Janice Perry from the Beetle. The pair ended the year defending the Allied Forces efforts to push back the Nazis by foiling the operations of Nazi spies in the area.

When the United States entered World War II, the Human Torch and Toro became founding members of the Invaders. Toro remained with the Invaders for the length of the war, except when he was serving with the Kid Commandos. Toro was present when the original Human Torch killed Adolf Hitler. After the war, Toro and the Torch continued to fight crime as members of the All-Winners Squad.

In early 1949, the criminal organization called the Crime Syndicate and its leader the Crime Boss paralyzed the Human Torch and Toro with a spray of "Solution X-R", which they had obtained from the Communists. The criminals sold Toro to North Korea, and buried the Torch in the Nevada desert.

In late 1953, an atomic bomb test released the Torch, who resumed his partnership with Toro for two more years. But in late 1955 the Torch discovered that the radiation he had absorbed from the bomb blast was causing him to malfunction. He bid farewell to Toro and flew to the desert, where he emitted a burst of energy and became deactivated. Toro eventually realized that the Torch had "died," and so Toro retired from crime-fighting, married a girl named Ann, and led a normal life in relative obscurity.

Years later, the Mad Thinker found and reactivated the Human Torch and forced him to attack the Fantastic Four. The Torch was deactivated again, supposedly permanently, in the course of the battle. Funeral services were announced for the Human Torch, and Thomas Raymond decided to attend. The Mad Thinker confronted Raymond out-side the cemetery and drugged him. When Toro awoke, the drug had given him partial amnesia, and the Thinker convinced him that he was the Human Torch. Moreover, the Thinker had fastened a collar around Toro's neck through which he could induce enough pain to force Toro to act as his servant. However, in a battle between Toro and the Sub-Mariner, the collar was damaged so that it could not hurt him, and Toro joined forces with the Sub-Mariner against the Thinker. During the ensuing events, Toro's full memory returned. Enraged at the Thinker for enslaving and brainwashing him, Toro attacked the Thinker, who was escaping in a sky craft. Toro entered the ship's rocket tubes and used his own power to propel it towards the Thinker's Pacific island laboratory, where the ship crashed and ex-ploded. The Thinker escaped through a teleportation device, but Toro was killed in the crash.

Sometime after Toro's death, his wife Ann resurfaced with a man with flame powers who called himself "Mr. Raymond". He was discovered by the Power Pack, but he sought to keep his powers secret. However this man soon disappeared and was never seen again, the true identity of this man and his connection to Toro is unexplained.

Toro was one of the WWII-era he-roes sent to the future, just before the Secret Invasion, where he would learn of his impending death. After returning to his timeline, he, along with the rest of the Invaders and several Avengers, battled the Red Skull for the Cosmic Cube. After winning the battle, the two teams of Avengers were returned to the present, but not before Bucky wished his friend to life using the Cosmic Cube.

Aarkus, in the present, was there when he awoke, initially helping him on his journey.

When the Terrigen Mists were scattered around the world, Toro was subjected to Terrigenesis and engulfed in a cocoon. It was now theorized that his powers from the beginning had been the consequence of his recessive Inhuman genes and not from a mutant gene.

After helping the Invaders fight a group of neo-Nazis, Toro was offered by Queen Medusa of the Inhumans a place in Attilan. He gladly accepted the offer and started living there, finally finding a place where he belonged.

HISTORY
Kal-Il is the last Kryptonian of his universe and the vicious leader of the Crime Syndicate.

Born on Krypton, through the machinations of his father Jor-Il, a mysterious being came to the planet and began a process that would lead to its destruction. Thanks to a shooting spree, Jor-Il was able to secure a life pod for his son, whom he regarded as his best chance of revenge.

Rocketing to Earth, Kal-Il was inundated with ideology and moralizing, warning him to be the strongest possible being, eschewing all weakness in himself and in others. His rocket crash-landed in Smallville, Kansas, right through the roof of the home of Johnny and Martha Kent. Kal-Il gained power from the Kryptonite and forced the couple to be his parents, staying with them until he was seven years old, at which point he killed them and burned their farm to the ground. Over the following years, Kal-Il took the name Ultraman and began his pursuits of taking over Earth by murdering the President of the United States and forming the Crime Syndicate. During this time, Ultraman had a dysfunctional relationship with his teammate Superwoman. Unknown to him, Superwoman had a secret affair with Owlman.

Unfortunately for Ultraman and the Crime Syndicate, their stranglehold over the planet was pried loose by the arrival of the being who destroyed Earth just as it had destroyed Krypton. At that same moment, the fabric between universes was weakened by the actions of another powerful being on another universe, thus he, along with the rest of the members of the Crime Syndicate, sought to escape to that other universe and were trapped in an inter-dimensional Limbo for five years, with only Alfred and Atomica successfully crossing. Going by The Outsider, Alfred created the Secret Society of Super-Villains which manipulated the heroes of that uni-verse into reaching him the Pandora's Box in order to open it, allowing the Crime Syndicate to finally enter the Prime universe.

After disposing the Justice League and their allies, the Crime Syndicate declared Prime Earth theirs and forced some of the native villains into joining them, in which Ultraman enforced their legitimacy by killing Monocle when the latter claimed that the Crime Syndicate was simply the Justice League in disguise. Noticing the rising sun, Ultraman moved the Earth's moon in front of the sun to eclipse the Crime Syndicate's section of Earth in order to protect himself from the sun's rays. Once settled, Ultraman and his Syndicate were making their plans when Grid informed him of the up-rising in Kahndaq. Before leaving, he took a look at their prisoner to which Alfred informed that was sedated and thus harmless. Owlman wondered why they just don't kill him to which Ultraman replied that they may need him against the destroyer of their world, sustaining his claim even with Superwoman agreeing with Owlman.

On his way to Kahndaq, Ultraman took a detour to The Daily Planet where he threatened its staff members in order to "test" them. When confronted by that world's version of Lois Lane, Ultraman realized that she is not the same Lois he knows and he told her that he wanted to get rid of Superwoman for a long time but that would leave him with-out a suitable mother for his child, but now that he found this Lois he can do whatever he wants with her. Before Ultraman could do anything to her, Black Adam arrived and bat-tled him, but was nonetheless defeated by Ultraman. Arriving to Kahndaq, he forcefully took Metal-lo's Kryptonite heart to strengthen himself when he was approached by Superwoman who revealed him her pregnancy. After overhearing Owlman talking to Nightwing about his plan to take down Ultraman, Superwoman tells him that Owlman will eventually betray the Syndicate and that he has to stay strong for their unborn child, but Ultraman stated that he stays strong only for himself and no one else.

When Power Ring was killed by Sinestro, his ring sent vibrations through the Multiverse which drawn the attention of the one who destroyed the Syndicate's world, prompting Ultraman and his team to prepare in anticipation of the incoming threat. As they prepared for the threat, the Injustice League, led by Lex Luthor took this opportunity to attack them and inadvertently freed the Syndicate's prisoner and enemy Alexander Luthor, who intended to kill the Crime Syndicate.

As the surviving members of the Syndicate tried to stop the now free Mazahs, Superwoman chose this time to reveal to her teammates that she had been working with Mazahs for all this time, as he is her lover and the real father of her unborn child, saying she chose Mazahs because he is stronger than Ultra-man. An enraged Ultraman fought Mazahs, regretting not killing him when he had the chance before tiring from lack of Kryptonite and deciding to let the Injustice League finish him off. After Alex Luthor is killed and Superwoman taken out, Ultraman attacked Luthor and nearly kills him, but Sinestro and Black Adam removed the eclipse Ultraman created and thereby weakened him with sunlight. After being humiliated by Lex, Ultraman begged him to kill him but Lex refused, saying that he will let him stay this way, knowing he is the weakest man on the planet in body and mind. Ultraman was eventually imprisoned by the Justice League.

Ultraman was later set free from his imprisonment by the combined efforts of Cyborg and Power Ring, (who had both been possessed by Grid and Volthoom, respectively), to enlist his help in defeating Mobius, also known as the Anti-Monitor, who was the same being that destroyed Ultraman's Earth. Ultraman was then given a chunk of Kryptonite to eat by the Justice League to empower him in the battle against Mobius. Ultraman later viciously assaulted Mobius, landing several punches all the while explaining how he would brutally kill him. Unfortunately for Ultraman, Mobius proved stronger, and vaporized Ultraman with a concentrated blast of antimatter, killing him.

HISTORY
Uncle Sam is described as a spiritual entity created through an occult ritual by the Founding Fathers of the United States. This "Spirit of America" was initially bound to a powerful talisman and would take physical form by merging with a dying patriot. The Spirit of America had taken human form as the Minute-Man during the Revolutionary War, Brother Jonathan in later conflicts and, during the American Civil War, had been split in two as Johnny Reb and Billy Yank.

The Spirit first assumed its now familiar Uncle Sam incarnation in 1870, when it resurrected a political cartoonist who had been killed by Boss Tweed. The second host of Uncle Sam fought in World War I. A third (the character's Golden Age incarnation) was a superhero during World War II, fighting alongside young Buddy Smith. After the Japanese attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii brought his country into the war, Sam organized and led the Freedom Fighters and was a member of the All-Star Squadron but vanished at the end of the war.

In this incarnation, Uncle Sam had the ability to travel between parallel universes and soon discovered Earth-X, where America was defeated by the Axis powers. Uncle Sam recruited a number of costumed heroes as members into a team called the Freedom Fighters. Eventually the Freedom Fighters, along with the JLA and JSA, over-threw Earth-X's Nazi government.

During the Infinite Crisis, the Freedom Fighters were attacked by the Secret Society of Super-Villains. Uncle Sam was shown easily standing up to Black Adam, even knocking him away with one punch. Three of the Freedom Fighters, Human Bomb, Phantom Lady and Black Condor were killed in the battle. Uncle Sam himself seemingly dies at the hands of Deathstroke while the other team members are brutally injured but survive. Sam was not seen among the dead Freedom Fighters after they were found strung up on the Washington Monument.

By the end of the "Lost Year", the spirit of Uncle Sam was reincarnated and attempting to form a new version of the Freedom Fighters. This new incarnation of Uncle Sam emerged from the Mississippi River while Father Time, the leader of S.H.A.D.E., was elsewhere planning the future of his organization by using new incarnations of Freedom Fighters members as recruits. Uncle Sam, disturbed by the deadly force used by the new versions of Phantom Lady, The Human Bomb, Doll Man and others, successfully recruits these metahumans into his new Freedom Fighters team, which results in Father Time ordering his remaining S.H.A.D.E. personnel to pursue and kill Uncle Sam and his team. Although Uncle Sam is shown to be against killing, particularly rebuking Doll Man for murdering a crime lord in front of the man's young grandson, Uncle Sam is not against using deadly force when necessary.

Due to circumstances, Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters came into an alliance with S.H.A.D.E. against the evil entity Gonzo the Mechanical Bastard, which resulted in Sam becoming, briefly, the director of S.H.A.D.E. before control was of the organization was regained by Father Time, while under the watch of Checkmate.

During the Final Crisis, Uncle Sam was among the many super heroes that were corrupted by the Anti-Life Equation.

HISTORY
In 1938, Brian's father, Lord Montgomery Falsworth, was outraged at British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin's policy of appeasement towards Adolf Hitler's German regime. Brian, however, was an isolationist and pacifist and disagreed with Lord Falsworth (his father's) views. The arguments between the two grew more heated as time passed, until finally Brian left home because of them. Shortly afterwards, the Germans released photographs showing Brian and his best friend Roger Aubrey with Hitler himself; both Brian and Aubrey publicly supported appeasement of Hitler's regime while they were in Germany. Lord Falsworth was appalled and saddened by this development. War between Britain and Germany broke out, and Brian's mother, Lady Falsworth, died in the Blitz of 1941, when a German bomb fell on a London hospital where she was doing volunteer work.

Brian Falsworth and his friend (and lover) Roger Aubrey tried to leave Germany. The Nazi government was unwilling to risk the possibility that Falsworth and Aubrey would reverse their anti-war positions, and a Gestapo chief in Hamburg, Germany, tore up their passports. Falsworth lost his temper and attacked the Gestapo chief, only to be imprisoned. Aubrey then became violent and was likewise made a prisoner, but he was finally turned over to the Institute of Nazi Science, where he was brainwashed and subjected to experiments that transformed him into Dyna-Mite, a man less than a foot tall.

Brian Falsworth was imprisoned in Hamburg in the same cell as the German biochemist Eric Schmitt, who had concocted a variant of the Super-Soldier Formula that was used to turn Steve Rogers into Captain America. Dying, Schmitt asked Falsworth to keep the sample of the formula he had concealed on his person from falling into Nazi hands. Falsworth took the disguised flask, drank its contents, and was immediately physically enhanced by the formula. Falsworth escaped the prison and became a costumed fighter of Nazis within Germany itself known as the Destroyer.

In England in 1942, Lord Falsworth and his daughter Jacqueline be-friended the Invaders, a team of costumed champions serving the Allied cause much as Freedom's Five had done during World War I. Lord Falsworth again donned the costume of Union Jack in order to help the Invaders battle the returned Baron Blood, and was made an Invader himself. However, during a battle between Union Jack and Baron Blood in a cave beneath the Falsworth estate, the vampire hurled a massive boulder at Union Jack, crushing his legs and leaving him permanently crippled. Union Jack managed to pry the boulder off his legs, causing the huge rock to strike Baron Blood, knocking him backwards. The vampire fell onto a sharp stalagmite, which impaled his body, killing him.

Lord Falsworth's career as Union Jack was over, but as a result of being bitten by Baron Blood and then receiving a blood transfusion from the original Human Torch, Falsworth's daughter Jacqueline became the superhumanly powerful Spitfire and joined the Invaders herself.

Lord Falsworth, Spitfire, and Dyna-Mite parachuted into Nazi Germany in the hope of finding a means of restoring the brainwashed Dyna-Mite's memory. Lord Falsworth knew that Dyna-Mite was Roger Aubrey and hoped that once Aubrey's memory was restored, he could reveal what happened to Brian Falsworth. Lord Falsworth and Dyna-Mite were captured by the Germans but were rescued by the Destroyer, who revealed his true identity to his father and was reconciled with him. Lord Falsworth suggested that Brian adopt the costume and name of Union Jack, and Brian agreed.

Meanwhile, Spitfire and her fellow Invaders had been captured by the Germans and were to be executed by a firing squad under the command of Hitler himself. Brian Falsworth, as the second Union Jack, came to the Invaders' rescue, and the Invaders, Lord Falsworth, Dyna-Mite, and the new Union Jack all escaped back to Britain. There, a captured Nazi scientist restored Aubrey to his true height. Aubrey, whose memory had finally fully returned, adopted Brian Falsworth's previous identity of the Destroyer and returned to Germany to continue battling the Nazis there. Brian Falsworth, as the new Union Jack, became a member of the Invaders.

Later, Hitler succeeded in contacting the Asgardian thunder god Thor and deceived him into aiding the cause of the Germans, the descendants of the people who had once worshiped him, in the current war. Thor therefore clashed with the Invaders and nearly killed the second Union Jack with a blast of lightning from his enchanted hammer. Learning that Hitler was evil, Thor vowed to aid him no more, and withdrew most of the electricity in Union Jack's body back into his hammer, somehow restoring him to health in the process. The second Union Jack now possessed the superhuman power to discharge electrical bolts from his body. It is not known how long Union Jack retained this power.

Following the war, Brian remained occasionally active as Union Jack and was instrumental in founding the V-Battalion alongside other heroes of the era, including his best friend (and lover) who had been Dyna-Mite (and then the second Destroyer) during the war. A car crash in 1953 abruptly ended his career and his life.

CONTACTS: Alpha Flight, Canadian Government, Wolverine

HISTORY
Heather grew up as a neighbor to the Twoyoungmen family. Michael Twoyoungmen's daughter Elizabeth was like a sister to Heather and moved in with the McNeils after her mother died and Michael went in retreat, eventually becoming the mystical hero Shaman.

Because Heather's parents had seven children of their own to support as well as Elizabeth, Heather took a job as a secretary when she was just 17 in order to help support the family. Heather was working as a secretary to Jerome Jaxon of the Am-Can petroleum company when she met James Hudson, one of the company's research scientists. Hudson had invented a cybernetic suit for geological exploration. Heather learned Hudson had resigned from the company after learning his suit was to be sold as a weapon by Jaxon, and stole its cybernetic helmet, rendering it inoperable. Heather too resigned, and followed him. The two were attracted to each other and were soon married.

Heather also explained that the Canadian government could help them, and they approached Department H, with a view to starting a superhero team, using Hudson's suit. The team came to be known as Alpha Flight, and Hudson became its leader.

While on their honeymoon in a cab-in in a Canadian National Park, the couple encountered Wolverine while he was only known as a ram-paging 'wild man.' Heather had a calming influence on Wolverine. Wolverine was eventually groomed to become the leader of Alpha Flight, and there was an obvious attraction between him and Heather. However, Wolverine left rather than cause difficulties in the Hudsons' relationship. Soon after, Alpha Flight had their funding revoked and disbanded.

After Alpha Flight's initial disbanding, Heather secretly called the members together first to battle Tundra, and later Omega Flight, a villainous team which was led by the Hudsons' corrupt former employer, Jerome Jaxon. James appeared to die in the battle when his suit's power pack was sabotaged by Jaxon.

Heather would go on to reform Alpha Flight, bringing together the disparate members to a central location in Vancouver. She would begin to serve as leader, even though she had no powers or weaponry. Under her leadership, the government would again offer to fund Alpha Flight and settled them onto a new base on Tamarind Island.

Her teammates, Roger Bochs and Mr. Jeffries recreated Delphine Courtney's suit, which had been based on James's Guardian suit. Heather began to use it as Vindicator, hoping she could uphold her dead husband's legacy. While James was missing presumed dead, Heather was involved for a time with her teammate Madison Jeffries, and was loved unrequited by another teammate, Puck. Under Heather's leadership, the team battled a number of enemies including the Dreamqueen, Pestilence, Scramble, Mesmero, the Sentinels, and Attuma, recruited many new members, and lost several of them in battle, including Roger Bochs and Narya. Upon James's unexpected return, he and Heather switched codenames, and she became known as Guardian.

While James was again presumed dead Heather was in command of Alpha Flight until a younger clone of Hudson emerged. She found it odd to be working with a much younger James until the real Hudson returned with several other Alpha Flight members to confront the current team about Department H's dealings.

Heather had proved herself as both a team leader and a capable combatant. The Hudsons continued to serve alongside each other, although his absence and cyborg conversion caused some difficulty in their relationship.

Heather soon gave birth to a daughter. Like the rest of Alpha Flight, she and James were temporarily abducted by the Plodex.

Heather was presumed dead after Alpha Flight's disastrous bout with the Collective. During the Chaos King's attack on Earth (and the rest of reality), it was revealed that she had, in fact, died; the gates to the Underworld were opened, and Heather managed to escape, along with Guardian, Shaman, Marrina, and many others.

Controlled by the Master of the World, Heather betrayed Alpha Flight to the Unity Party after they took over Canada. She was shown as desperate to regain custody of her daughter, and murdered the distant relatives of hers who had been Claire's foster parents. However, once the Master boasted that he intended to raise Claire to become his mate, Heather turned on him and, combining her powers with Mac's, destroyed his flying fortress. Unfortunately, before Mac could reverse the Unity Process and restore Heather's mind, Heather snatched up Claire and left for parts unknown.

HISTORY
The Void first appeared in modern days a few years after the Sentry became famous. He nearly killed Scout, drove the Hulk into a rampage, and murdered over one million people in Manhattan. Discovering that the Void had been the dark aspect of his own powers, Sentry teamed with Reed Richards and Doctor Strange to create a system which made Earth's entire population, themselves included, forget all about Sentry. With Sentry inactive and forgotten, the Void vanished.

Years later, Robert's memories slowly returned along with the Void, who rampaged across Europe, murdering many members of the Super-Heroes of Europe (SHE). Sentry contacted his former colleagues, but the only one who recalled their shared history was Hulk. As the Void returned to Manhattan, the pieces began to fall in place and Sentry's former friends assembled to defend him and the city. Remembering the dual nature of Robert's powers, Sentry and Reed Richards reactivated the Watchtower, dispelling the Void and making the world forget Sentry once again.

However, Sentry's memories soon return, as did the Void. Returned to the world, Sentry captured the hearts of the public; newspapers referring to him as the Golden Guardian, and he saved hundreds of lives on a daily basis; Reynolds' psychological problems, however, had worsened. Unable to reconcile that Robert Reynolds, Sentry and the Void are the same being, Sentry contained the Void in a vault in the Watchtower. At C.L.O.C.'s urging, Reynolds' psychiatrist Dr. Cornelius Worth entered the vault and finds only a chair and a mirror. When Cornelius confronts Reynolds with this, Reynolds becomes confused and ran to the fairgrounds where he first gained his powers.

Cornelius followed Reynolds to the fairgrounds where Sentry and the Void had been fighting. The Void claimed that Reynolds transformed into the Void rather than Sentry, and that Sentry was merely a guilt-borne byproduct of that transformation. With only half of Reynolds' memories, the Void possessing the other half, Sentry was not sure the Void was wrong. Sentry chased the Void away and then explained to Cornelius why he had hired him in the first place. Reynolds subconsciously wanted someone to reveal the Void's existence to the world so he would no longer have to hide that aspect of himself. Sentry then told Cornelius how he really gained his powers as a teenager: by stealing the Professor's serum and ingesting it to get high. He also told Cornelius that he knew all along that the Void was never in the Watchtower's vault. He knew that if Reynolds believed the Void was in the Watchtower, the Void would be. This kept the world safe from the Void for as long as Sentry could keep up the charade.

Sentry then visited Dr. Strange to determine if was real or not. Strange tricked Sentry into traveling to his old Professor's research facility where the two men confine the Sentry in an illusionary realm where he was a mental patient and super-heroes did not exist in an attempt to prevent any further destruction. Sentry broke free of the illusion and after confronting the Professor, who made the original serum, he traveled to Antarctica to confront the Void and discovered what memories of Reynolds the Void had in his mind.

The Void revealed that Reynolds had actually ingested a super-saturated, exponentially more potent version of the Super-Soldier formula that created Captain America. This was considered dangerous by the government because Sentry's blood could be used to create more of the serum, enough for the entire world. Several failed attempts were made to kill both personas. Enraged by this revelation, Sentry threw the Void into the Sun, telling his enemy that he no longer needed him to balance his own actions of good. The Void promised to return.

Sentry was later confronted by the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D., along with the Inhumans and the X-Men. He cried, saying that he had warned them of the Void's coming and that it was too late now. The group was suddenly attacked by the Void. Robert, along with the help of Emma Frost, discovered that the reason no one remembered him was not because of his own attempts to erase the Void, but because of the intervention and manipulation of his mind. Mastermind, hired by the General, had used the great mental powers Sentry needed to contain his abilities to force everyone, himself included, to forget of his existence. Should Sentry ever remember his life, then he would be struck by a fear of the devil attacking the world, hence the Void. With this new found knowledge, the Void disappeared, and Emma Frost resurrected Sentry. The Avengers offered him membership, partly to keep an eye on him and partly because they would need his power, which he accepted.

In a battle against Yelena Belova, who absorbed the Sentry's powers, she was defeated by the manifestation of the Void, which enveloped and incapacitated her. Sentry told Belova that absorbing his powers had exposed her to the Void, but if she would answer his questions, he could send the Void away. Unfortunately, Belova was liquefied by her employers before she could answer.

As a result of Sentry leaving the Earth to not take a part of the battle believing that he caused it, the Void created an equal and opposite reaction by showing up, battling Skrulls and saving Lindy Reynolds, promising to do all that the Sentry wouldn't do.

After the invasion, in which Norman Osborn became head of national security, the Void visited Sentry and gave him the same serum that gave him his powers. Once he drank it, the Void took surface and accepted Osborn's offer to become his secret weapon, and keep his newly formed Cabal in line.

When Lindy tried to kill her husband with an alien weapon, fearing what he was becoming and his refusal to let her go, she then began forming theories about the Void's origins. Unfortunately, the Void asserted control of her husband, reviving him. A terrified Lindy pleaded for the Void to end her misery, to which the evil entity complied, only for Robert to intervene, reminding his counterpart of their deal of not touching her. Robert flew far from Earth, intending to commit suicide by plunging himself into the Sun, only to regenerate. The Void then taunted his efforts and pointed out that for all intents, he should give him complete control. He returned to New York and started to destroy it, but was convinced not to by Osborn.

In Asgard, the Void was called by Osborn to kill Ares, and ripped him in half to do so. He was then sent to take down Thor. Before their fight was concluded, Osborn, who had been overcome by the forces of the Avengers, Secret Warriors, and many other heroes, ordered the Void to end it. The Void broke the base of Asgard, completely destroying the city. Osborn, defeated and crazed, told the heroes that they would all be killed as the Void took on a monstrous form. Thor engaged the Void, but began to lose, until Iron Man took control of a damaged H.A.M.M.E.R. Helicarrier in the area and used it as a bullet to strike the Void. The Void was finally defeated when Thor struck it with a powerful attack from Mjolnir after Robert pleaded him to be killed. Thor then took Sentry's charred body and tossed it into the Sun. There, Robert's body was constantly regrown from an atom just to be burned down again afterwards. Bored of the cycle, the Void left him behind and went to the White Hot Room.

At some point, the Void (still separated from Robert) was captured by Doctor Strange and locked up inside the Sanctum Sanctorum, from where he was later released by Strange himself to be used against Loki, who had become the new Sorcerer Supreme of Earth. After revealing to Loki that the Exile of Singhsoon - a spell that transfers all the world's magic to its caster which Loki had been looking for - was inside Zelma Stanton's soul, the Void was separated from Strange and locked back at the Sanctorum.
