Hey, Jab, I can't get your first page to load for some reason. Maybe there's too much stuff? I've tried different computers too. It's also the same on the M&M site. You might be better off by separating like stuff in different threads.

Weird. My cellphone and my ancient-ass computer both allow me to access it just fine (though for a while I had to shorten my first post to allow my phone the ability to edit the main title). And multiple computers have this issue? Anyone else?

I think I'd go nuts if all my Archives were located in different threads. I'm so ocd I don't even want to make different threads for my Fantasy stuff :).

Why is the Silver Scorpion f***ing YELLOW??

That is NOT an accurate depiction of how costumes in the Golden Age looked.

-The Silver Scorpion is another forgotten Golden Age heroine, with the origin that she foiled a crime while dressed as a superheroine for a costume party, and figured "hey- why not?". She appears to have shown up only twice before being forgotten to history, and has only a few modern "showings" to her name. The modern Invaders series shows her fighting the Battle-Axis during WWII using newfound battle armor, and she became a founding member of the V-Battalion. Still alive, she was suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer's Disease.

-For stats, I just copied Sun Girl exactly (that's not laziness! They're both freaking SECRETARIES!!), then added the armor she apparently grabbed in '90s Retcon issues.

Heh, best. It says something about writing and artistic talent that a panel this simple, that's not a bad-ass pin-up, can remain iconic enough for something like THIS to work.

Been busy with school and general holiday shenanigans, but I wanted to comment on Kitty Pryde. Mostly to say that while I like her and certainly understand her appeal, I was never smitten with her the way a lot of fans and creators are. Which is weird because I was in the right age range for it, but Kitty always came off more as the girl I'd hang out with rather than date. I think part of it is the contrarian streak Jab mentioned, which actually annoyed me more than endeared her to me. While I do like that the little Jewish mutant girl gets to throw out racial slurs to show off the hypocrisy of them, and I loved the way she'd verbally spar with Emma Frost, Kitty can sometimes be grating because she often has no repercussions for her attitude or actions because of how much the creative teams love her. I'm not a fan of "putting someone in their place" unless they're outright evil/antagonistic and need to be taken down a peg, but honestly it'd be nice if for once someone just said, "You know Kitty, being a brat was mildly endearing when you were still 15. You're in your early 20's now. Knock it off."

I'm also not really a fan of the way Bendis paired her up with Star-Lord. I mean, when he did it over in the Ultimates Universe with Peter, that was actually kind of interesting since it was an alternate universe, teen Peter and teen Kitty have a lot in common, and are kind of cute together. But Star-Lord . . . what in the holy Hell does Kitty have to do with Star-Lord? And ENGAGED to the guy? Forgiving the whole thing that comics Star-Lord has been turned into his Han Solo-ish movie character, whereas movie Star-Lord should have "grown up" into the more serious Star-Lord of the comics. And don't get me started about how one of the obvious signs Iceman was gay was that Kitty went into space after dating him.

I imagine the whole thing with Star-Lord will eventually be written as some bad mistake Kitty made because she was rebounding from the break up with Colossus. Eventually someone's going to pair those two up, it was adorable to finally see them get together in Joss' X-Men.

Overall, I love the Kitty Pryde character, but I agree they need to kind of find something for her to do, besides mouth off to people and be the love interest in the book of whomever nabs her this month.

You should re read the Wolverine Kitty pryde series. She got put in place quite rapidly. Wolverine when he was retraining her basically gave her a serious earful about the way of life and a few other life lessons. I think she came out the other end of that series a better character.

Not related to what's currently being discussed, but I was looking through the old builds. So, a complete remaster of the first three Crash Bandicoot games has finally shown gameplay footage recently. Also, looking back at your own Crash build, I noticed you said that the sequels were worse than the original. That's true..but only for the games past the first three, and the kart racing spinoff Crash Team Racing. Crash 2, Crash 3, and CTR are generally considered to be better than the first game, at least from what I've seen. Crash 2 & 3 also gave Crash some new abilities. Crash 2 made him able to crouch and crawl and do a belly flop attack, while Crash 3 gave him a whole slew of special abillities from beating bosses, including a fruit bazooka, a super belly flop, increased running speed, and a powered-up spin that let him glide over large gaps. The later games also used a variety of vehicles and equipment, like a jetpack, scuba gear, planes, motorcycles, and other things.

Kitty actually got shit on a bit in New Mutants over her attitude, which was generally "I'm better than you, cuz I was a real X-Man!" She was also a bit less snarky in Excalibur, which was hyper-silly and usually featured her being embarrassed or crushing uselessly on Alistaire Stuart, who had more of a thing for the leather-clad Rachel Summers. Generally, her snarkiness is best-handled by going up against someone on an equal level (Emma Frost), or mouthing off to one of many Asshole Authority Figures in the MU. People who deserve it. She's not quite the "That Guy" that's disagreeable with EVERYONE.

But yeah, I'm a hardcore Colossus/Kitty Shipper- Joss handled this PERFECTLY. Especially with Kitty all being psychoanalytic about everything, blurting out her love for him, then rescinding it with "I have to think about this", etc... then Colossus responding, very "real guy"-like, with utter confusion and inability to handle it. I've been in, and know of, SO MANY RELATIONSHIPS that go that way.

And then Kitty cuts through his desperate "I'm so confused" navel-gazing with the ultimate Gordian Knot-cutter: Taking her clothes off. "Now I am even more confused" mumbles the wide-eyed, stunned Peter. "... But not so much tired."

Plus he made her phase through the floor, whilst in the nude. "That was totally your fault" "I like to think so, yes".

Oh Joss- so much of your writing style and your TV Shows annoys the crapfarts out of me, but MY GOD you should write the X-Men forever.

-The Specialist is an assassin who fought Spider-Man 2099, and had his throat slit after his very first battle. He was hired by Tyler Stone (a generic Evil Corporate Boss) to fight the future-Spidey, and was trained as a samurai warrior by Stark/Fujikawa (which I detailed a bit in the Rumiko Fujikawa build I did). For stats, he's a pretty basic PL 8 nobody- I mean, he fought in ONE STORY-ARC.

I loved Logan's reaction the next morning. Basically speaking for the comics audience:

I don't see anything about him ever being a cop, but he apparently left his fiancee at the altar when Kitty took him away from his homeworld.

Brief side note, but IMO, no one has ever really improved on the classic Colossus outfit:

My only problem with having Joss write the X-Men forever — which is generally a really good idea — is that it means he wouldn't be available to write Teen Titans.

Motivation (Revenge on America)- Asano's parents died as a result of the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima, and he himself was born deformed by the radiation inflicted upon his parents. He has despised Americans ever since, and hates the descendents of the bomb's designers, such as Howard Stark.

Total: Abilities: 30 / Skills: 24--12 / Advantages: 5 / Powers: 68 / Defenses: 4 (119)

-I only know Samurai Steel because of a single appearance in an Iron Man comic I picked up from the Edmonton Comic Expo- naturally, as a book featuring a guy I'd never heard of on the cover, I HAD to buy it. In it, I discovered that this guy grew up despising Americans thanks to the bombing of Hiroshima- both of his parents died of lieukemia they received from the blast, and he himself was born deformed. This is pretty much the same origin that SUNFIRE has, but comics are like that. Upon discovering that Tony Stark's father Howard helped build the Atomic Bomb, Yoshida Asano lures Tony to his factory under the false pretenses of a business partnership. Tony is there in part to make up for his father's actions, using his own guilt over the bombing to make amends.

-Asano's relative and colleague is more America-friendly and is horrified when Tony reveals his father's role in the A-Bomb, largely because of what he thinks Asano will do. And, naturally, Asano comes blasting out in power armor and tries to murder Tony. In his attempt, he blows up his own factory, breaks his relative's heart (in an odd bit, the relative starts weeping over Asano's actions, and James Rhodes basically rips into him and yells at the poor guy, telling him to get over it and help people), and naturally gets involved in a fight with Iron Man. Upon discovering that his nuclear-powered factory might hurt Japan, Asano flew his armor into the reactor, and sacrificed his life to stop it. A very weird one-off.

-The Samurai Steel armor puts up a pretty good fight against some North Korean fighter jets in his "test run" (he literally flies to nearby North Korea and just starts fighting the Air Force), but his fight against Iron Man is shortened by the nuclear explosion. He comes off like a PL 8-9 guy with a couple tricks, but nothing too much for Tony in the long run. The main threat is his "Disruptor", which hurts technology.
