Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

Ok, clearly it is time to reveal my own process on how to defeat Abraxas. 1. Get him drunk. Flounders on the shoals of his Immunity (Fortitude effects). Nice try, though. Narrative overwrite via GM fiat, old chum. ;) Sides, I have this mental image of him brooding in his throne on Daath, quietly mo...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

Well, I already had a lot of reasons why I don't like Jeph Loeb, but I'll take another. It's a shame, because he was a damn fine writer for such a long time, but then he hit that point (around the time of his son's death, as all reports indicate) where he took such an awful turn, as most often repr...

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

During the Battle of Vietnam, the Unseen Agent took advantage of a momentary distraction to attempt to use her invisible touch on Stardust. It didn't work, and he became aware of her, then blasted her with a beam that restored her to visibility. She stared down at her hands for a moment, then looke...

Re: What's new with the big two: Marvel and DC Comics discussion thread.

You hear about this? From this article , Daredevil's Peter Shinkoda revealed that Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb told the writers to nix storylines involving Asian characters. “Jeph Loeb told the writer’s room not to write for Nobu and Gao,” Shinkoda said. “This was reiterated many times by many of the wr...

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

"Your life," said the stranger's voice slowly, "is no longer your own. It belongs to me now. But you are still free to destroy it. Shall we return to the bridge?" "I don't know," blurted Vincent. "This is all like a dream; I don't understand it. Perhaps I did fall...

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

Was the Office of Scientific Investigation a predecessor to the Joint Special Operations Taskforce? That said, Lt. Jack Dore (later Colonel; 1949-2001 ), the son of Jerry Dore, was one of JSOT's most decorated commanding officers. KIA during Cerebron's assault? I also assume the man who performed t...

She's not a particularly well-balanced individual, is Billie.
That's the tragedy of it, all that squandered potential and tarnished legacy.

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

Traumatized and shaken, Jane agreed to marry Franklin, and they soon had a daughter. But a mundane life was impossible for her, and she kept finding reasons to go back into battle, alone. Ultimately, this led to her death, in 1982, when she was targeted for assassination by the forces of Python. Th...

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Due South! Gothel! Cassandra the Sword Lesbian!)

Yeah, Hector's pretty damn great. Mainly because he's like a Genre Refugee from a far darker, gritter fanservice-heavy fantasy or historical drama show like Game of Thrones or The Witcher or Vikings or etc.

Also the Ink-Suit Actor aspect which is a trope I'm honestly quite the fan of.

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

You know, a timeline of this setting would not be a bad idea. As well as a good breakpoint until next month. Not happening, sorry. Not yet anyway. A brief summary of the three most significant eras of this setting would also be good (1956-1971: The First Superheroes and the Institute, 1971-1998: Th...

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

honestly make it sound like most creators are better off coming up with their own origin for Dracula, rather just going with the implied link to Vlad the Impaler. Pretty much. Stoker's Count holds forth on his ancestors with considerable pride, which suggests some connection, and him being one of V...

Re: A World Less Magical But No Less Fantastic

Karen Nichols liked to think of herself as a fairly typical Canadian teenager, growing up in Edmonton's suburb of St. Albert. Sure, she'd actually read every page of her smartphone's manual, and she'd rebuilt an old desktop computer so that it worked like a thousand times better than a new model, b...
