Ah yes, the character who was originally created as Grate Man, a parody of one of Neal Adams' greatest works.
Always ask before you use someone's Original Character.
Never ever use them without permission. Only Villains do that.

-Oddly, the 2003 Shredder has a similar past to most on the surface, but eventually gets decapitated by Leonardo, and revealing himself to be an Utrom- the brain-shaped aliens! An unusual warlike Utrom, Ch'rell disguises himself as the Shredder using an exo-suit! But he's hundreds of years old, as the Utroms crash-landed in Japan during the Sengoku period, and generally lived the life the established Shredders did- adopting Karai, fighting Hamato Yoshi, etc. After his decaptiation, Ch'rell reveals himself and returns, then appears to die in an explosion, carrying a huge grudge with the Turtles. Finally, he is arrested by the Utroms and exiled for the deaths of millions over the course of his life. His brain is used for the Cyber Shredder that is one of three active in the Back to the Sewers season.

-Ch'rell's final appearance is in the famous Turtles Forever Series Finale, as he is awakened by the 1987 Shredder, who finds himself way outclassed by this ancient madman. Ch'rell takes control of the Technodrome and converts himself into a goddamn KAIJU, assaulting New York and promising to execute every version of the Turtles across the multiverse. He manages to defeat a Giant-Sized Krang, but is undone by Rocksteady & Bebop of all people, who plug a disconnected cord back in, reactivating a laser than destroys Ch'rell.

-This version of Shredder is another PL 9 warrior, able to handle the Turtles for a time, but can ultimately lose in solo combat to Leonardo.

Oh GEEZ- I attempted to get premier access to Raya and the Last Dragon and Disney+ says it's too late. It was available only until May 4th. And then it's available for free on June 4th.

So I literally attempted to GIVE DISNEY MY MONEY and they said no :D.

That's so funny. I only waited because I was watching Falcon and the Winter Soldier and I tend to want to watch things all the way through before starting a big watch of something else. I'd have just bought Raya a week or so ago if I'd known, so I could watch it later (since I'm off work for a week now). I wanted Raya to do well (it had BOMBED since theaters were mostly-closed while others refused Disney's terms and wouldn't show it), but didn't have time to watch it yet so waited. I was willing to pay just to watch it for a month, lol.

So um, no Raya and the Last Dragon builds for a while, at least! Which is too bad, because I was going to set time aside and everything!

-The notion of a cybernetic version of the Shredder has existed since the 1990s video games, like in TMNT Tournament Fighters, but we get our first "official" version when the 2003 series does its strange "The Turtles spend a full season in the future, then return"- in the Back to the Sewers season, the boys come back to their own time and find THREE Shredders at war. This one is actually an android copy of Ch'rell, created when a sentient computer virus found an "engram" of Ch'rell's mind in a Foot Clan data vault- it rewrote her and this guy took form. He eventually gained a physical body and lashed out repeatedly, and is finally destroyed for good in the Series Finale when he attacks Casey Jones & April O'Neil's wedding- Donatello and "Turtle X" (a mech suit for Casey) team up to destroy him and remove his computer code.

-Cyber Shredder is very similar to the Ch'rell one, but has more versatility, being an artificial being with inborn claws, as well as a Blast & Force Field. He can also save himself by attaching to a computer wire and going back online. Overall, this Shredder is PL 10.

The issue with the 2003 version of Shredder was that they needed a way to bring the character back after he was exiled at the end of Season 4. This resulted in the incredibly bonkers storyline of the Ninja Tribunal and, eventually, in the Cyber-Shredder at the end of Season 7.

The basic jist was:
- The original Shredder was a Tengu spirit and a member of the Ninja Tribunal, who betrayed his peers and started a campaing of conquest through ancient Japan.
- The rest of the Tribunal, albeit weaker, provided the Hamato Clan with the tools to stop the Tengu Shredder and seal him away (since a spirit can't be killed).
- A Utromship crash land in Japan not long after and Ch'rell, a war criminal imprisoned on the ship, run away with an exoskeletron.
- Ch'rell assumes the identity of Horoku Saki and, after hearing the legend of the Shredder, decide to take the moniker for himself as a way to spread terror. He also fashion his first armor after the one used by the Tengu Shredder.
- Inadvertently, by assuming the name of Shredder, Ch'rell becomes a sort of avatar/parasite of the original Tengu, this mystical connection weakens to the point that he can no longer escape his prison.
-After Ch'rell is exiled by the Utroms, the Tengu manages to free himself, forcing the Ninja Tribunal to enlist the Turtles and a few other ninjutsu practitioner to stop him.
- Meanwhile Karai takes the mantle of the Shredder for herself, to take revenge on Splinter. In doing so she duplicate the mystical connection. With the help of Splinter and the Ancient One, she manages to use it to taken the Tengu down and give the boys a shot.
- It' unclear if Karai's connection survived after the end of Season 5.
- After the Turtles came back from the future at the beginning of Season 7, they carried with them Viral, a villainous AI from the future. After being badly damaged, she flew in the net and found a copy of Ch'rell personality stored in the Foot Clan database. The two merge, creating the Cyber-Shredder.
"You're right. Sorry. Holy shit," I breathed, "heckhounds.”

-When Ch'rell took the name of the Shredder, it was actually a legacy title- finally, we meet the original. He is a Tengu (Japanese folkloric flying trickster creature) who wreaked havoc and attempted to take over the world in the 4th Century. Five warriors, including Oroku Saki, united to oppose him- they were victorious, but Shredder convinced Saki to spare him in exchange for great power. The Shredder's empty husk was destroyed and his soul thus possessed Saki. Saki thus took over Japan himself, and his four allies had to unite to stop him. Unable to kill him, they separated him from his gear and sealed them all away, forming the Ninja Tribunal to teach future generations their skills and prevent the Shredder from returning.

-The Utron Ch'rell took advantage of the Shredder's legend to gain respect. But when he was gone, some Foot Mystics gathered the artifacts together and "Demon Shredder" was reborn. He fought the Turtles to a standstill, along with the entirety of their enemies and allies (including the Purple Dragons and Justice Force- a band of superheroes), but the astral form of Hamato Yoshi returned and lethally-struck the Demon, which was finally able to destroy him.

-The Demon Shredder was more of a Cosmic Being than a martial artist in many ways- in addition to Telekinesis, Magic Blasting and more, he could SUMMON ENTIRE ARMIES, transform himself into a dragon, teleport, and more. Essentially, he had every power ever. He was only weak against astral projections, and the fact that he had a spiritual link to everyone who took the name "Shredder", which allowed Karai (the new acting Shredder) to siphon off some of his energy.

Complications:
Motivation (Money & Power)- The Shredder has turned the entire Foot Clan into a group of thieves and pickpockets, devoted to giving him riches and might.
Motivation (Oblivion)
Enemy (Splinter, The Turtles)- Oroku Saki was scarred decades ago fighting his rival and adoptive brother, Hamato Yoshi, and engaged in a battle that killed their mutual love, Tang Shen. Out of revenge, Shredder raised Yoshi's daughter as his own, teaching her to hate Yoshi. He hates Yoshi so much that his only care is killing his enemy- it doesn't matter if he and everyone else alive dies immediately afterwards.
Relationship (Karai)- Karai is the only living person Saki is shown to care about- when she is accidentally mutated, even he is distraught.

Total: Abilities: 78 / Skills: 78--39 / Advantages: 37 / Powers: 3 / Defenses: 19 (176)

-In the 2012 series, Shredder is an epic, almost mythical threat- a badass warrior who tends to give commands from his throneroom while his minions do all the work. We're left wondering a bit at what he can do... and then he shows us. "He was... so FAST" Leo shudders as he images the gigantic beatdown Shredder put on them (in a one-on-four battle, no less). Hell, Shredder once beat Leo so bad he changed voice actors! This guy was a malevolent, truly despicable monster.

-Shredder's backstory is kinda similar to the old days, but shifted around a bit- Oroku Saki was raised by Hamato Yoshi's parents, but the two were great rivals. When Tang Shen fell for Yoshi, the jealous Saki vowed revenge. He attacked the couple, leading to a bloody brawl that accidentally killed Tang (something Saki blamed Yoshi for, because he's a villain and all) and burned down the family home... where Saki found an infant he stole away and named Karai, raising her to hate Yoshi. And so we get a very long story arc in which Karai learns the truth about her father, turns on Shredder, and more. Finally, Shredder's hatred becomes so all-consuming that he reneges on a temporary alliance with Splinter and the Turtles against the Triceratons, who have genocide on their mind- Shredder turns on Splinter at the last second, killing him and allowing the Earth to be destroyed, him with it, immediately thereafter. His last thoughts are how wonderful it is that the Hamato/Saki feud ends with his victory.

-When things are set right after the Turtles go back in time to change history, Splinter attacks Shredder first and is victorious, beating Shredder so badly he requires a Mutagen "drip" to heal. He commands Baxter Stockman to up the dose... naturally turning him into the Super Shredder. Quickly going insane and delusional, Shredder attacks again, and this time, actually succeeds in killing Splinter (so... twice now he's killed him). Vowing revenge, the Turtles attack, and Super Shredder defeats them all one by one until only a bruised Leonardo is left. The spirit of Splinter appears before a disarmed Leo to "fear nothing", and he retrieves his katana and decapitates Super Shredder in one blow, finally avenging Splinter. I have to think "Seeking to kill your enemy" and then "actually doing it" are pretty hardcore and unusual for kids' programming. Shredder briefly returns thanks to a magic spell and demonic dragon summoned by his chief minion Tiger Claw, but Saki appears to have found some kind of understanding or peace in the afterlife, and sacrifices himself to stop the dragon, claiming that neither of them belongs among the living anymore.

-Shredder was an IMMENSE threat in this continuity, absolutely crushing all four Turtles at once, not looking even remotely in trouble. He even fought off the Turtles AND the Mutanimals simultaneously.

-The upgraded "Super Shredder" is able to kill Hamato Yoshi, and also deal with the Turtles handily, until Leo is able to score a single critical strike to decapitate him. His caps change and he's incredibly durable, but he's still a PL 11 killer.

NULL
Role:
Evil Businessman, Possibly Satan

-Okay, so I missed the early appearances of Null- I just remember this bald, horn-headed Evil 1980s Businessman hanging out with aliens in the Archie Comic's Mighty Mutanimals debut arc. It turns out he's a guy who sold the Earth to the alien Malignoids, and later he both allies with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and hires a bunch of cyborgs to kill the Mutanimals. Along the way he grows more and more demonic, finally turning into a flying demon- he may in fact be the devil.

-IDW has introduced a "Madame Null" in a Mutanimals mini-arc, and she seems to take a similar role- a horn-headed bald demon in a suit who manipulates things.

-In the comics I own, Null is a generic nasty guy- probably kinda tough, he takes Mondo Gecko's skateboard to the face and slugs him back, calling him "You little twerp!". Like, the shot HURT him, but he fired right back.

-Scul and Bean are the two most powerful, named Mooks of the Malignoids, able to use a bit of free will. They actually successfully defeated the Turtles, Splinter, April & Mondo Gecko, but Raphael escaped- Raph and the Mighty Mutantimals (who debuted as a team in this arc) banded together to stop the Malignoid invasion. They returned later, but Slash attacked them alongside the Turtles- it's unknown what happened during the fight between Slash and these two, but all three (plus Queen Maligna) were killed when their Hive-Ship crashed into the sun.

-They can communicate telepathically with each other and hit much harder than the Turtles, and take more damage. Bean can even shoot out a powerful toxic bomb attack from a hole in the top of his head- but when Screwloose threw a rock into it, the eruption inside his brain nearly killed him.

-Bellybomb is a one-off weirdo alien design from the Archie Comics TMNT. On the prison world of Morbus, Krang recruits Slash to his employ, and the two witness Bellybomb arriving with a couple of guards. The guards do the mandatory rattling off of his crimes, including extortion, armed robbery, man-eating, brain poaching, soul thievery, and impersonating a deity named Bob. Bellybomb adds "You neglected to mention my unpaid parking tickets", which is when Krang immediately decides he LIKES this guy. Slash attacks and kills the guards, and the trio abscond with the guards' ship (that is some REALLY bad security), recruiting Rocksteady & Bebop as well. Bellybomb grafts Krang to the Shredder's body, but the Turtles free Shred-head and send Krang & Bellybomb back where they belong. A perfectly fine, tolerable one-off character with a unique look.

-Amazingly, even BELLYBOMB shows up in the 2012 Nick Toon, as "Vrax Belebome"- an agent of Lord Dregg's. He swipes some money from Fugitoid but is captured and forced to give up some information.

-Bellybomb is a pretty simple brawler who doesn't hold up against the Turtles in combat.

Re: Jab’s Builds! (Rocksteady & Bebop! Punk Frogs! The Shredder!)

Post by Ares »

Shredder is definitely a case of great villain design originally undermined because the original creators had no idea they'd created a full on franchise that would spawn a multimedia empire. The guy has a simple but solid look (which I often find is the best), with his bladed armor actually working as both offense and defense. You can tell Eastman & Laird regretted killing him off, given they brought him back for a more satisfying ending, starting with that epic battle between Leo and the Foot, continuing with the assault on April's home, Casey showing up as cavalry, the Turtles actually fleeing the city in defeat and then returning for round two, ending with Leo decapitating the Shredder.

Despite having such a limited role in the early comics, the Shredder cast a huge shadow over the entire franchise, and it's no wonder other adaptations of the series have made Shredder the main antagonist for the Turtles.

The 80s Shredder initially was more of a master schemer type, and never actually faced the Turtles personally in combat during the original mini-series that launched the cartoon. Though when he did fight the Turtles for the first time he actually showed himself to be able to defeat the four Turtles solo. Still, as the series got sillier and sillier, so did the Shredder, though they tried to course correct during the later seasons.

The movie Shredder was just epic, having the right amount of menace and the perfect look. It was a very decent, comics accurate costume and they gave Shredder this very sinister edge as not only being this evil ninja master, but he's corrupting the youth of the city and turning them into his henchmen. For a kids movie, that was VERY dark, especially given the implied "is or is not the kid Tatsu killed really dead" moment. His solo fight against the Turtles is also great, showcasing just how big a menace he was. The only real downside was that, due to the rating, they couldn't really have the Shredder use his iconic bladed weapons. That bit where Splinter is dangling Shredder over the edge of a building and rather than surrender Shredder opts to try to go for a "taking you with me" knife throw was just great, especially Splinter's final words.

"Death comes for us all, Oroku Saki. But something much worse comes for you. For when you die, it will be . . . " *catches knife, Shredder falls to his death* " . . . without honor."

Naturally, the live action movie did great, so the Shredder returned. Oddly enough, this version of the Shredder was closer to the 80s cartoon, as he did all of the scheming from behind the scenes and never really fought the Turtles. Even as Super Shredder, he doesn't really fight them, he just breaks some support columns and gets crushed.

And that's the last of the movie references, because the more recent live action TMNT films are a dumpster fire that can burn for all eternity.

The 2003 TMNT take on the Shredder was definitely interesting, one I oddly didn't mind. Part of it was that the TMNT series by that point had re-invented itself so often that, like Transformers and G.I.Joe, the fun came from seeing what tweaks could be made to the franchise while staying true to the core of what made the franchise great. And the TMNT 2003 series managed to be be solid adaptations of the Mirage comics while borrowing ideas from the 80s series and still doing some unique things. Making the Shredder an Utrom was actually a clever way to tie the Turtles origins together.

Originally, the Turtles mutation had nothing to do with the Shredder. It was basically bad luck that Hamato Yoshi's pet rat had survived the Shredder's attack, found the four turtles and got mutated by run off from the Utrom's experiments to get home. The 80s series tweaked things to where Shredder had created the mutagen intentionally and tried to use it to kill Yoshi. The films went back to the mutagen and Shredder being unrelated. The 2003 series made Shredder and the mutagen linked again, but in a different way. By making the Utrom Shredder the cause of the Utrom's crashing on Earth, and then creating the Foot Clan to establish his empire on Earth, the Utrom Shredder created this shadow war between the Utrons and the Foot Clan, which would eventually result Homoto Yoshi's conflict with the Foot, his service to the Utrom, his murder, and the Turtles and Splinter getting mutated by run-off from the Utrom's experiments to get home. So without the Utrom Shredder, the Utrom never crash, the Foot is never formed, Yoshi never dies and the Turtles and Splinter never get mutated. All the Utrom Shredder's desires for conquest and power wound up doing was creating the very enemies who would one day bring him down. I thought it was kind of cool.

I also liked the idea of the Demon Shredder, and he made a very cool opponent for the Turtles in the later seasons. The Cyber-Shredder was a bit much, but it led to this cool but unrealized concept of a Shredder War, where the Utrom Shredder, Demon Shredder and Cyber-Shredder would all battle with their own Foot Armies to try and take over New York, and then the world.

I haven't seen the 2012 TMNT series, but my understanding is that it's a very solid adaptation of the Turtles franchise. If I had to guess, while the 2003 TMNT series is mostly an animated adaptation of the Mirage comics with some ideas borrowed from the 80s series, the 2012 series is primarily an adaptation of the 80s series with some heavy influence from the 80s movie and some influence from the Mirage comics. One aspect I've seen that I like is that Splinter actually focuses on the Turtles being . . . you know . . . NINJA. He encourages the Turtles to cheat, use dirty tactics, to be sneaky, etc. When Leo brings up the notion of a fair fight, Splinter has this exchange with him:

Leo: "It it wasn't a fair fight."
Splinter: "What do you mean, "fair fight"? "
Leo: "A fair fight, you know, where either side could win?"
Splinter: "So a fair fight is a fight you could lose."
Leo: "Well, yes, but - Well, what I what I mean is -"
Splinter: "You don't want to assure your victory."
Leo: "No, I do, but-"
*Splinter abruptly attacks Leo, easily pinning him to the wall*
Leo: "Ow! Hey!"
Splinter: "Was that fair?!"
Leo: "NO!"
Splinter: "DID I WIN?!"
Leo: ". . . . I see your point."
Splinter: *lets Leo go* "Seek victory, not fairness."

And really, it's a better message for kids. A fair fight is great for tournaments, honorable duels and the like, but in actual combat when lives are on the line, you can't expect every battle to be a fair one. Heck, you can't count on ANY battle to be a fair one.

In any case, the 2012 Shredder looks plenty intimidating (though the bare shoulders look . . . off), and it sounds like they did him justice there.

The IDW comics apparently did a solid job with this whole reincarnation and redemption storyline, but I'd need to read more into it.

And it says something about how well regarded Shredder is as a villain that they had him and Batman fight in the animated crossover, and they let the Shredder just straight up beat Batman one-on-one. Bruce actually required help from the Turtles to win in the end.

I think my own take on the TMNT franchise would combine a lot of elements from across the franchise. Go with the idea of an evil Utrom causing the ship to crash in ancient Japan, but have that evil Utrom be Krang. Have him form an alliance with the ancient Foot Clan (whose master the Shredder had recently gone all Demon or had some encounter with a Dragon, not sure which), with their being a new Shredder to lead the clan while Krang would serve as the kind of power behind the throne. The Foot would gather intel for Krang and help Krang try to destroy the other Utrom stranded on Earth, the Krang helps the Foot survive in changing times. Maybe have it so that each new Shredder helps strengthen the bond with the original Shredder, making them stronger and more evil, until the current Shredder is the most powerful and evil version, albeit 'powerful' in a 'Captain America-level stats' kind of way. Keep the idea of the current Shredder being Oroku Saki and the falling out with Hamato Yoshi, but go with the idea that in addition to the love triangle, Yoshi discovered the truth about the Foot Clan (being co-run by an evil alien) and fled with his wife, giving Saki two reasons to hate Yoshi (stealing his girl and abandoning him/the clan). Saki later ascends to become the Shredder, and that evil influence twists Saki's somewhat understandable anger and resentment into full on evil. And that kickstarts the revenge plot, Yoshi's murder, Splinter and the Turtles mutation, etc. Maybe go the IDW route of having Oroku Saki eventually break his connection with the original Shredder (who manifests fully once again), or maybe have Oroku Saki commit to being evil. Plenty of options.

-Easily the weirdest, and oddly most iconic, aspect of the Archie TMNT comic is Cudley the Cowlick, a flying COW'S HEAD that flies the Ninja Turtles and other characters across interstellar distances. He is encountered on Earth and kidnaps the Turtles & Leatherhead to Sling & Stump's "Intergalactic Wrestling" asteroid. He is used in the Mighty Mutanimals arc as a way for the Turtles to traverse space when dealing with the Malignoid invasion. He is described as a "Cosmic Monster" by Fugitoid in the 2012 Nick Toon, but doesn't play into the plot.

-Cudley the Cowlick is pretty good-sized, but is effectively helpless aside from being able to snag people in large groups and carry them across space.

This will never not be weird.

"The character of Mona Lisa was created for the old show by someone working for Fred Wolf. What many people do not know was that she was originally supposed to be a female mutant turtle, but Kevin and I put our foot down (this was back when we both agreed that a female turtle was a lame, stupid, creatively bankrupt idea) and they changed her to some kind of lizard."

Total: Abilities: 66 / Skills: 28--14 / Advantages: 9 / Powers: 6 / Defenses: 15 (110)

-One of the more famous one-off characters in the TMNT franchise is Mona Lisa, largely because of her relationship with Raphael. She was a college physics student who was kidnapped by an evil pirate (he wanted her help with his experiments), and was mutated after trying to sabotage his ship's nuclear reactor. She greatly resembled the Turtles, but on orders from Eastman & Laird (specifically, "NO FEMALE TURTLES!"), she was a "salamander" instead- instead of a shell, she just looked like a green nudist, complete with "Tertiary Sexual Characteristics" like long hair, curves and breasts- like Sonic The Hedgehog's Princess Sally, this probably only INCREASED her potential fanbase...). Following the Turtles back to New York... she was never seen again. Though really, her & Raph have all of five minutes of interaction, and most of that is just her flashback (called as such by Raph)- there's only a handful of hints of attraction- Raph saying she's "kinda cute" instead of a "Freak!", and when she hugs him out of joy a couple of times. And of course he's mooning over her a bit in the end. But for '80s cartoons, that's basically like that scene from Bound, so you can see how the fans would dwell on that.

-Mona Lisa was a creation for the '80s cartoon, rapidly switched from a turtle to a salamander or something because of a "NO FEMALE TURTLES" edict from Eastman & Laird, but she stuck with the fanbase for a while, thanks to a short interaction with Raphael. So two modern TMNT incarnations- the Nick toon and the IDW Comics, have used her as well.

-In the Nick Toon, she is Y'Gythgba, a Salamandran warrior at odds with the Triceraton Empire. An angry person who doesn't trust easily, she has a similar personality to Raphael, and the two quickly grow close during a battle with the Triceratons- she beats his ass, which he's immediately attracted to, and he later saves her against some Ice Dragons and she finds him "noble". Within an episode or two, they're basically in love, but are sometimes kept apart by space shenanigans. She wields a Laser Sword and Exploding Discs.

-In IDW, she's a random newbie popping up thanks to a Mutagen Bomb- created by Kevin Eastman & Sophie Campbell (the artist behind the updated Jem & The Holograms book), she was a normal girl mutated into a salamander creature. She appears to have more of a crush on Donatello, as she's a physics student and he's a genius.

-A similar-ish character, an alien salamander chick, had a combative relationship with Raphael in a recent Nick TMNT episode. She was like, SUPER-obsessed with honor and junk, and fought the Turtles with her allies for a while, but grew to respect Raph and his pals- her Turtlepedia bio is roughly as long as the Sigmarillion, and I didn't watch the latter bit of the season, but apparently lots of stuff happened. In 1992, Mona received her own toy, like a lot of what were by that point "Toon Only" characters- here, she had black hair and a bunch of silly weapons.

Ninjara

See in 1992 or whatever you wouldn't look at this and go "FURRY!" and think someone was gonna fap to it- anthro characters were common via TMNT and other franchises, and most weren't drawn sexually. But years and years of being on the internet I now immediately recognize that the artist was a furry, lol.

-Similar to Mona Lisa was Ninjara, a female fox-ninja (a Kitsune Kunoichi, if you will) introduced in the Archie Comics. She debuted in 1992, shortly after Mona did, and was a love interest for Raphael like she was. She was a thief & assassin working for a dog-man named Chien Khan, but had a change of heart when she met the Turtles. She actually spent FORTY ISSUES with the team off and on, but ultimately left Raphael when she felt she was no longer in love with him, moving on with a guy named Mokoshan instead. She was created by writers Stephen Murphy and Chris Allan, and this allowed them to keep on using her, as the rights to the TMNT were only for Eastman & Laird or TV creations. They released a comic called Ninjara: Seed of Destruction for the furry anthology Furrlough- here, she was now a widow (Mokoshan had since died), lasting for three separate issues.

-Humorously, the "Possible Antagonist Turned Girlfriend of Raphael" trope was used AGAIN in the IDW Comics, as an arctic-fox lady named Alopex shows up there, allied with the Foot Clan, but ultimately turns on them and aides the Turtles. She goes on a few adventures with them, having a vague relationship with Raphael, and the two finally kiss.

-Ninjara was the "best thief in all Japan" and was a good swordswoman as well.

-Touch & Go are a pair of themed villains in the first season of the 2003 TMNT series, appearing to battle the Turtles after being hired by Hun. They are a pair of gentlemanly-dressed killers with a gimmick- they can touch hands and gain temporary super-powers: Mr. Touch gains super-strength and Mr. Go becomes super-fast. The Turtles split up, and Mr. Go actually does really well against the Splinter & Michelangelo at the beginning, dealing Splinter a debilitating leg injury, and Mikey is only saved by his hard shell protecting him from the worst of the rapid-fire punches that rain down on him. However, Mr. Go rapidly runs out of "battery power" and is easily dealt with- Mr. Touch then catches up to them and they power each other up again. The heroes are thought dead, and hide out while they track the villains to their hideout, where Hun gives them a briefcase full of money. Mike barges in and KO's Hun in one shot, then tricks Touch into wasting all his energy on ill-timed punches. Splinter sprays the room with a fire extinguisher, and Mikey's ninja training lets him easily deal with the three villains, knocking Touch & Go out the window.

-Touch & Go reappear in a later episode alongside some other one-off foes and fight Leonardo & Michelangelo, who again trick them into being unable to touch each other, and they beat the powerless villains.

-Touch & Go are solid PL 8 fighters, and can provide a solo Turtle with a bit of trouble, but they are rapidly outmatched when their "power" runs out and they're unable to touch one another. This is actually a very, VERY frequent, solid use of the "Source" Flaw, as it's the root to defeating them twice. Mr. Touch is a PL 8 Powerhouse who hits hard, while Mr. Go is a Multiattack-themed guy (albeit at a lower level than most comic book ones).
