-Other Seals matching the Harbor Seal in size, are as follows.

Average-Sized Seals:
ROSS SEAL: Ross Seals live entirely in the pack ice regions of Antarctica, and are the only species left in their genus. They were first described in the Ross expedition of 1841, from which they get their name- they're the smallest of the Antarctic pinnipeds (weighing a mere 476 lbs. at maximum). They eat mostly squid & fish, and are likely preyed on by Killer Whales & Leopard Seals, though this has never been observed- they're just too remote to watch most of the time.

Image

HARP SEAL: Harp Seals are Arctic seals also called the Greenland or Saddleback Seal, and can weigh up to 309 lbs. They live in large groups, and are among the most aquatic of Seals, rarely leaving the water. They are the seals most hunted in the infamous Canadian seal hunts.

SPOTTED SEAL: Also from the Bering Sea, along with other northern Pacific waters, it is found around Alaska, Japan, Russia, and other such places. They are closely related to Harbor Seals, which sometimes overlap with them in certain habitats. They typically weigh between 180-240 lbs. Unlike Ribbon Seals, they are very shy and are hard for humans to approach.
These are probably the seals that Kipling wrote about in The White Seal.

The White Seal was also turned into an animated short by Chuck Jones, although the Rikki-Tikki-tavi cartoon is more famous (and better overall).

It was originally a short story, part of The Jungle Book.

Tactics: Surprise with bites from all angles, fleeing from predators.

-Crabeater Seals are Antarctic seals, also named Krill-Eater Seal for their dietary choices. They are by far the most abundant seal species in the world, with anywhere from 7-75 MILLION individuals known (!!). Their remoteness and the abundance of krill (thanks to the large baleen whales being diminished in population) makes them far less vulnerable than other Seals. They have unique, sieve-like teeth that allow them to eat smaller prey like krill... and no, they do not, in fact, eat crabs. Which begs the question of WHY ARE THEY CALLED CRABEATER SEALS, THEN?!
-About 80% of Crabeater Seal pup deaths are from Leopard Seals, though most other animals will avoid them, perhaps because they are a tenacious, aggressive species that gathers in great numbers.

-Crabeater Seals are very large and somewhat more aggressive than other Seals, making them pretty hard for other animals to hunt. Males & females are largely the same size, and typically weigh around 440 lbs., but can weigh over 200 lbs. above that.

Tactics: Surprise with bites from all angles, fleeing from predators.

-The bizarre Hooded Seals are among the strangest of all seals, sporting very large "hoods" atop their heads which can be inflated with air, and sacs in their nostrils that can do the same, just like Elephant Seals. They typically live around Greenland & Iceland, but have migrated into French & Spanish waters at times. They eat primarily crustaceans, krill & fish, and are among the best divers of seals, reaching depths of 1,970 feet, being submerged for up to 52 minutes in search of prey. Their babies are called "blueblacks", and are hunted for their soft, blue & black pelts. Females are much smaller than males, and require a different build- they're a mere 661 lbs. at maximum size.

-These are general stats for various large Seal species, typically sporting a rank of Growth and being PL 4-5 attackers in the water. The females are still heavy, but closer to regular human weights (220-420 lbs.).

Big Seals:
Image

GREY SEAL: North Atlantic seals that are common around England, Eastern Canada and the northeastern coast of the U.S- this makes them a very commonly-known pinniped to European audiences, which is why they are the species most famous for circus acts- the animals are amenable to captivity and are fairly easily trained, by carnivore standards. They congregate in very large colonies, where they are preyed upon by Great White & Greenland Sharks, as well as Killer Whales. Though mostly fish-feeders, they are large and aggressive enough to take bigger prey, such as Harbor Seals & Porpoises, and it's even though that big males will regularly engage in cannibalism!

Image

BEARDED SEAL: These big seals hail from Arctic waters, and are named for their very abundant whiskers. About 7-8 feet long, they can weigh between 400-1,000 lbs., with the females being slightly larger than males (therefore, both would use the "male" template above. Along with Ringed Seals, they are a major food source for Polar Bears, as well as being important to the Inuit of the coasts.

-There were three types of Monk Seals, all of which are the only earless pinnipeds ("true seals") who inhabit tropical regions. The Mediterranean Monk Seal is highly-endangered, with only 700 individuals though to survive in four isolated subpopulations in the Aegean Sea and other portions of the Mediterranean. Hunting from humans and other things (the species is notably shy) have led them from giving birth on beach habitats to only breeding in sea caves, many of which are inaccessible to humans. The Hawaiian Monk Seal is slightly healthier, with only 1,400 individuals. In this case, females are about 200 lbs. larger than males, but are susceptible to "mobbing"- a means by which numerous males will attack a female with intentions to mate- this has killed many females, and left others vulnerable to sepsis.

-The third species, the Caribbean Monk Seal, is unfortunately extinct- one of very few pinniped species to go extinct in modern history. They were slaughtered wholesale, hundreds a night, by hunting parties sent by sugar plantation owners, who used their oil-rich blubber to lubricate their machines. Docile animals with no instinctual fear of humans, they were easy prey for hunters. This, fishery-based depletion of resources, and commercial hunting, left the species badly damaged even by the 1850s, and little protections were offered until it was placed on the Endangered Species List in 1967, when it was likely already extinct. The last confirmed sighting of a Caribbean Monk Seal was in 1952, between Jamaica & Nicaragua.

-Monk Seals are largely like the "Big Seal" type, but lack Arctic adaptations, being a more tropical species.

-Weddell Seals are extremely large seals found in Antarctic waters, hitting 1,320 lbs! With bulky bodies and short flippers, they have little sexual dimorphism- males are slightly smaller than females. They can dive as deep as 600 meters for up to an hour, eating various species of fish, prawns, cephalopods and crustaceans- up to 110 lbs. in a day! Their size is enough to deter most predators, though Killer Whales hunt them in open water, and Leopard Seals hunt their young. Once diminished by commercial sealing, they have bounced back, and are currently very common- believed to number over a million.

-Though extremely large, Weddell Seals neither engage in bloody battles nor take prey larger than bite-sized fish, so they're not that high level despite weighing more than any modern cat. They're mighty enough that few animals other than an Orca would bother hunting an adult, though.

-Whereas most Seals look almost delightfully plump and silly, this is a truly fearsome oceanic predator- a 10-foot sea bullet full of sharp teeth in an oddly Lizard-like skull. Leopard seals are the ultra-fast Penguin-eater of the South, capable of snatching one of the cute lil' bastards in mid-dive and sink to the bottom of the sea with them. They are also one of the few seals to prey upon other seals, taking Crabeater, Ross & Weddell Seals, along with the pups of others- their only natural predators are Killer Whales and possibly Elephant Seals.

-Leopard Seals are fascinated by humans, and many a documentarian has filmed them up close (as in "huge predator bumps camera with it's nose" close), and even offered them penguins! No really, these things actually beat the crap out of Penguins, and leave their stunned bodies next to their new friend so they can enjoy a meal- which is what the Seals do to ally Seals! However, it's not all fun and games- a few humans have been attacked by them, and one overly-aggressive Leopard Seal grabbed a scientist and dragged her 70 feet below the surface, drowning her in the only known human fatality to one of these creatures.

-Their status as an elite hunter makes Leopard Seals a PL 6 (PL 7 in water) problem to deal with. Not as high as the Sharks, but still very dangerous, and much stronger than people. With Strength 6 AND an extra Bite, they can cause horrific damage, and don't forget that most humans DON'T have Environmental Adaptation, and are thus not in their element when fighting one of these.

-A highly-endangered, small Fur Seal hailing from the Galapagos. Males are twice as big as females- 140 lbs. to 60 lbs. As they do not move from place to place (the Galapagos is FAR from land), they are highly-vulnerable to environmental changes like bad weather- as adults will feed themselves before their young, bad El Nino storms will kill most pups. Adding to this, these Fur Seals will often delay weaning in pups, resulting in newborns coming out while the older siblings are still suckling, resulting in competition where the older siblings will bully and harrass their younger ones, only allowing them to feed once they're satiated.

So, I was surprised to hear that seals offer up penguins to their human friends.

I was not expecting to see 'seals attempting to mate with penguins'. Errrrr.. nature is strange?
We rise from the ashes so that new legends can be born.
