"Looks like it's gonna be a tight fit." Peter remarked while mentally responding to Diego. *Kitchen freezer.* Sped up images of the trio's travel were fed into Diego's mind. If Jacob was not here, there was going to be trouble.
Do I need to make another Perception roll? If so I'll edit it in.

Carman Black
HP: 1
Cnd: Injured -1

Before Alister could leave, Carman places a hand on his shoulder.
”That doesn’t work for me. These people are not the job, and lets be real, this place is screwed. No amount of assistance is going to get this place right and it’s only a matter of time before someone on the outside realises it and firebombs the whole thing into the ground. I came here hoping to get you out if I could, but I’m not going to drag you out. If you want to be a hero that’s on you, and the best of luck to ya, but I need the processor before you get yourself killed.”

On my way., replied Diego over the link. The body count was staying low so far, but unless they made another way down to the basement the mass of people would still need to be plowed through. Combined with Iona and Peter, the odds were heavily in their favour. The catch was doing it without betraying their powers to the world yet.

Diego kept his eyes peeled and ears opened on the surroundings as he hurried to the freezer area just in case one of those creatures was really lurking. From what he had seen, they weren't the quietest. There was still a chance they might try and pick him off. Upon arrival at the freezer area, he scanned for any hidden security personal or guard posts.

Once the guard precipitates the freezer door to open, Iona immediately begins to scrutinize the faces of each and every person present. Silently, she begins to walk forward, from front of the freezer to the back. She has seen Jacob's picture and committed his features to memory. The young cyborg continues towards the rear of the storage area until she either confirms his presence or his absence.

Assuming that our target is in there, perhaps there is a way to get Jacob out of there without massacring all these people. I need to identify him quickly though.

"Tight, sure. But safer than it is out here. Get in."

The guard states in a brisk fashion. While getting ushered into the freezer with forty odd other people Peter and Iona prioritize looking for their target, Jacob Thatcher. It takes some looking. He isn't hiding, but there are just so many faces to scan. Finally, towards the back, you see the young man. With water blonde hair, brown eyes, scrawny, and with a cast on his left leg, Jacob is sitting on the floor talking to an older woman with gray hair and chubby cheeks. It doesn't look like he'd be going anywhere quickly under his own power.

Enroute to the freezer Diego slips into shadows and hugs cover as he sneaks onwards. Alert for danger, Diego is not impeded on his trek, nor does he note any hostiles or guard posts on the way. It is quiet and still. By the time he reaches the kitchen the guard that was escorting Iona and Peter is heading out of the cafeteria.

Back by the security station Carman has reached out to stop Renly from walking away. Halting he half turns to face her. Looks to the hand on his shoulder, then to Carman. The expression on his face carries with it a warning. The sort that suggested that if she was going to get handsy, he'd do the same. But he didn't ignore the woman's situation what she had presented her case, and reminded him of the mission that they had took part in together.

"I don't have it on me. Stashed it before the police grabbed me. I'll take you to it when we get out. Do you have a plan for exfiltration? That's over one hundred of the National Guard out there. I saw a Stronghold armored personnel carrier too."

*Target found.* Peter mentally alerted Diego. *His leg is definitely broken. I can create a stretcher but we still would have to carry him. The one alternative is that we secure the OCS and make use of that.*

Diego nodded at the cop going to reinforce the barrier. "I'll join you after I check on the two I brought in.", said Diego not giving a chance for the cop to respond. Unless some armed guard was hiding somewhere, all that stood between them and Jacob was some civilians. It did strike Diego as strange they didn't have more armed guards around the civilians, but he wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

No time to remove the heart here. Besides, extracting him for the procedure here would cause a possible search. No, we knock him out and extract him to the van for the procedure closer to the delivery point. Carman had her chance to join us, but like Iona she holds human sentiments. that get in the way of getting the job done. Is there any armed guards in the freezer? What about communication devices? We need to eliminate everyone except Jacob since any left alive would alert the others of the abduction and moving with everyone in their would raise too many questions., transmits Diego over the link.

Once Iona identifies Jacob, she grabs Peter's arm. Playing the part of an affectionate girlfriend, she moves in close to his ear and begins to whisper: "If Diego comes here in the guise of a police officer, we can tell him to request our presence along with Jacob outside of the freezer doors. We can tell the civilians in the freezer that plans for a safe evacuation are in order, but that it will be done in small groups starting with ourselves and Jacob. That will allow us to take him without an unnecessary slaughter. It will save us the delay of having to massacre the patients."

I hope he'll go for it. An appeal to his empahty is useless, but an appeal to saving time might work.

Diego's relentless contempt for any sign of 'human sentiments' was getting ridiculous - and potentially blinding. *Or, more likely, as mentioned, Carmen is another agent of Dr. Sokolov and has her own mission to complete, which she probably needed to speak to Renly about. I find it unlikely someone who clearly had no compunction killing those officers is suddenly turning around and helping the defenders.

Now Iona's proposal, which he suspected would be rejected. To her, he offered a sad look and a soft answer. "We both know it would end very fast."

*Iona has offered an alternative proposal. You approach as police, ask for we and Jacob to leave the freezers, and say a safe evacuation is starting in small groups. If you insist on violence, the tactical situation is near-perfect. No guards, the door only opens from the inside, and everyone is packed in like sardines. I could kill everyone but Jacob, you shadow-slip in through the cracks, then we can burrow down - the morgue is generally above the morgue.*

Killing armed men is different from killing civilians. I only care for the quickest path out of here that does not cause alarm or expose our powers. Eliminating everyone in the freezer quickly will achieve that. We will try your way for now, but on the first notice of anyone going to confirm the lie or using any communication device, eliminate them. I am going to knock now., transmitted Diego. He wasn't in a mood for a prolonged discussion. If Jacob, Iona and Peter came out while others waited without calling out over a device it served the purpose as well. A body count in the freezer or people still hiding made no difference to Diego. It may also serve as a learning experience for Peter if anyone does try to call out.

At the door, Diego knocks on the freezer door upon seeing no way of opening it from the outside. Whatever happened now, they were leaving soon.

Carman removed her hand as soon she had Alister’s attention. It made sense that he’d stash the device when there was trouble. It’s what she would have done.
”Fair enough. There’s another team in the hospital, they’ll be helping us get out, but we’ll have to move now, and leave the rest of them to whatever’s a coming.” she glanced back towards the way the others had disappeared. ”This way. Where are they keeping the civvies?”

Carman
There is a moment of introspection from Renly after Carman tells him about her other team and that they have an exit plan. But no details were offered. Only that they were the only ones getting out of this diseased hellhole. At length he replies blandly.

"I'm not married to them. As long as you and your backup doesn't go around killing hospital patients and staff, we should be good."

When Carman indicates the direction Diego and gone there is a mixture of curiosity and suspicion on the man's face. But he walks along beside the assassin, guiding her towards the cafeteria freezer.

"Why are your people with the non-combatants?"

Diego, Peter, Iona
There is a questioning look on the guard's face as he passes Diego in the cafeteria. But the shapeshifter's explanation seems to be enough, and the man goes on without starting up any conversation.

Inside the freezer Iona and Peter are guided away from the door by the male nurse that had opens the freezer for their entry. Contrary to the name, it is warm in the space. All those stinking fleshy bodies generating heat in so close of quarters. Shortly after Peter receives the warning, ther is a rapping at the freezer door. Rather than open it immediately the male nurse removes a slide from a part of the freezer wall and peaks through it. Then they cover it back up and open the door for Diego.

"I though the idea is that you stayed away and kept attention off of us."

.. the nurse griped at seeing another guard standing at the door.

”I’m not planning on killing anyone if I don’t have to, but can’t make any promises if we hit obstacles.” Carman offered honestly.

As they made their way towards the freezer, the assassin could only offer a shrug to Renly’s inquiry.
”Can’t say for sure, they’re here on their own assignment. Pulling another ass from the fire I imagine. Not really my business. You and the device are my only concern, but we watch their back, they watch ours and we all get out of here in one piece. Simple as that.”

He's already here. A worried look appears over Iona's face when the nurse pulls back the door to reveal Diego in his "police officer" form. She hurries from the back of the freezer towards the front, worried that at any moment Diego might proceed with an extermination of the civilians.

"Officer...", she says with a fiegned smile, "...I'm glad you arrived. May I speak with you in private for a moment? It's about my boyfriend, Andrew, and his health."
OOC: If Diego agrees, then Iona will quietly relay her plan to him about evacuating the patients piecemeal. Since she does not know that Peter has already conveyed the plan to him, this makes sense.

Diego nods at Iona. "I'm the one who found the two new arrivals and came by to check on them.", responds Diego to the inquiry on why protocol was broken. He listened to Iona whisper the plan and he had the same assessment he did when peter mentioned it. Not that he told Iona in as much detail.

After Iona finished, Diego had only one response. "If this fails or they make any motion to confirm, we evacuate as previously planned.", replies Diego in a low whisper. He hoped Iona knew what he meant. Diego wasn't subtle when it came to strategy amongst allies. There also wasn't the bothersome conscious to burden him.

Going back to the freezer, Diego looked over the people and nodded at Peter. "We have a way out of here, but can only go in smaller groups. Mary, Andrew, and...", said Diego as he pretended to look around the group until settling on Jacob. "You. More will be coming to help the rest of you out.", he said pointing at Jacob when saying you.
Deception 13 to help Iona sell it since it's her ploy.
