Imperious did not turn to look at Jonah what he entered, apperantly to gripe at Beaumont about something. He could feel the scout's movements. Patiently he waited for Jonah to excuse himself, all the while keeping his eyes fixed on Beaumont. Imperious realized that if Beaumont was reluctant to tell him anything more, that would have only been strengthened by someone listening outside the door. After the third party's exit from the room he paced towards the room's owner.

"We will continue this conversation later. Use that time to consider what you want to say and the consequences your actions may have."

Reaching past Beaumont he sets the stim cartridge on the desk that was used to look over the map. Then Imperious turned and exited through the door. After it was closed he paused briefly to look Jonah's way an acknowledge him with an utterance of the man's name.

"Jonah."

After that simple greeting Imperious turned, and began walking down the hall, setting a course back to Renner's room. He'd had a map to return to it's proper place. As he went black armored scales crept over his eyelids and emerald green lenses slid over his eyes. His vision shifted and he looked through floors and walls. Towards Bastion's guarded gates. Then the sanitation areas. Visually he made to check up on Mickey's progress with her task. Imperious could have listened in to what came to pass between Jonah and Beaumont, to see if anything of concern came. For now, he chose to trust Beaumont, and respected his privacy.

Imperious could see Mickey coming towards Beaumont’s room, and stop to ask someone something. The word ‘Imperious’ was mouthed. It appears Mickey is searching for him.

As he moved black scales slid out of his skin, knitting together. Before the process could be taken in by an onlooker he was already moving faster than the human eye could register. Mickey would find a rush of air brush past her just as he slowed to a normal walk beside her. A glimpse of black scales, in small rapidly diminishing patches, might be seen seeping back into his dusky skin. Imperious' eyes, too, were his own again.

“Just looking for you,” Mickey commented.

“Yeah, talked to Rick. He says Renner’s been all weird, lately. ‘When isn’t Renner weird?’, I ask him. He says Renner’s been hanging out in the medical hall, being a nuisance.

“And the guards at the north gate saw Renner leave. Get this, boss-man—-he left alone. But he had a huge duffel bag full of...whatever....with him.”

Imperious looked ahead as they walked and Mickey talked. Quietly he brooded over the information that she shared with him, not saying anything immediately. It felt like he had learned as much as he was going to here in Bastion. It was almost time for him to depart and actually start looking for the wayward soul. But first, he shifted his eyes towar Mickey without turning his head, and inquired one more thing of her.

"Do you know of anyone connected to Renner named Mara?"

Mickey cocked an eyebrow. “Yeah. Mara’s his sister. She died a while back. As I understand it, the two of them were on their own for awhile, before running into an Arcaninaut. I’m not sure exactly how it all went down, but Mara died and Renner lived. Why do you ask?”

That Renner left on his own indicated a personal affair. Something he wanted kept private at least. Renner's sister died due to an Arcaninaut. He was estimated to be heading to a part of the Lock were an Arcaninaut fell into an aqaufarm turned cistern, turned oversized oilbarrel. It felt like too much of a coinsidence. Imperious brooded for a time before Mickey's question drew his attention. He wasn't inclined to tell her that Renner's bed had shared the information with him. Neither did he want to lie. So he did neither.

"Thank you for your assistance Mickey. I'll be leaving shortly. It would be good if the guards maintained a stance of readiness in my absence."

… then he was gone in a rush of air and a blur of motion. First he stopped off at Renner's room, where he took the time to find the spot on the wall where the map he carried belonged, and returned it to it's place as he had promised. Then he made his way to Homestead's room and, from there, the sky. Swallowed up in armored scales now, he was as black as the night's sky and speckles with small dots of white that looked like stars in a clear night's sky. Save for his eyes, which were covered in lenses of emerald. In the air he moved west. Away from Bastion and towards the blackzone.

Imperious made to the Lock in no time at all, high in the air it looked like scar tissue scabbed over. The Locked Sea was in no way whole, as countless events and minor cataclysms had shattered thousands of containers, cisterns and other cavernous holds. It was a mess, a ruptured half-sea swathed in corroded metal, half-sunken walkways and stations here and there, some half-submerged.

And the water visible to the naked eye was toxic. The life that dwell there was hardy, extremely hardly. (It made for tough eating, but cooking it thoroughly was sometimes enough to render it safe to eat.) Inperious saw vague shapes slithering hither and yon, squat aquatic horrors that shunned the light.

The blackzone was eas6 to find—-it was currently on fire, albeit only on the surface. Just beneath the flames was a massive iron plain, partially flooded, with huge white lettering spelling out, “ZONE 88AA.”

Imperious hovered over the blackzone. Fire. Fire in the east. Now fire in the west. It felt like there was some symbolism here. Two destructive forces, one to either side of Bastion. He did muse on this line of thought for long. Instead he raked his eyes over the artificial, heavily damaged, ground below. Renner and his buggy. THe origin of the fire. Lurking threats. He looked for all three of these things, but mostly Renner or signs of his passing. His vision filtered through various methods of looking at the world. Then he moved on to another area, or to look at the scene from another angle.

The Super-Sense I expect to be applicable are: X-Ray Vision, Detect Life, and Ultravision. Not that this roll is going to help much of anything.

Search: 1d20+2 4

As a note, Imperious will also be switching on the Impervious Toughness from his Communion array.

The scene is simply too chaotic from all the way up in the sky, too much to look at, too much confusion.
OOC:
No, it’s not normally on fire.

OOC wrote:Since Imperious can't find Renner, and I do not expect much success from Search checks, Imperious is going to set about trying to extinguish the fire using Create Object. In sections, so as to reduce the possibility of catching a human being in a contained area with oxygen being depleted.
Beneath the layer of protection provided by his armor Imperious' brow furrowed. Descending from his station in the sky he moved in closer to the Lock's ruinous floor, yet remained above the fire itself. At this lower altitude he extends his hands towards one edge of the conflagration. There a dome of transparent-black metallic material formed in the air before sloping downwards into a dome. Cutting off a section of the fire from the rest he waited, looking beyond the barrier he had created, checking for the fire to die out within. Then he moved his hands, gesturing towards the center of the flaming blackzone. In response the dome reshaped itself, folding to form around a new section of fire while blocking off the space it had previously extinguished … and so on Imperious would repeat the process if it proved successful.

OOC:
Make a Create Object roll. Normally you wouldn’t have to, but since you’re being clinical and doing it in sections, a check’s going to be necessary.

Bit by bit by agonizing bit, Imperious smothered the fires. Of course, he didn’t get all of it—-how could he, considering the sheer volume he had to work against?—-but most of it died. He now had a clearer view of what went on, below.
OOC:
You can make another Search check, now.

With the majority of the fire extinguished Imperious closed his hands, making loose fists. Along with this gesture the final dome-construct he and Shi-Halal had created dissolved into nothingness. It was an arduous task, fighting the fire, but now hopefully the heat haze and illumination it had given off was less of a hinderance to his search. Moving to and fro in the air he cast his eyes over the blackzone in a side to side, top to bottom search pattern. Questing for something that hinted at Renner's whereabouts or the story that played out here prior to his arrival.

Imperious searches the wreckage, but can’t find Renner. But luck is with him—-he does find Renner’s buggy, somewhat charred but still recognizable as coming from Bastion—-the color scheme, the iconography added on and such.
