Breach resists the urge to punch him through the glass. (phasing is fun.)

The clerk finally closes the paper briefly to look at both of you. The clerk is a woman in her mid forties. The lines on her face show her age. Her name tag is obscured by the way her blouse is frumped. Not likely on purpose, but convenient given her customer service record. After a cursory glance she says "Is it okay that they are on different floors? If so $110 for the night."

"That's fine." Vincent says, and pulls out some of the rough looking cash they pilfered earlier. A motel like this isn't going to bother putting up a fuss with how the money looks. Assuming the keys are given, he leaves the lobby so that he and Breach can fetch the girls. "We'll split up when it's time to turn in, but for now we should gather in one of the rooms and come up with a plan. I might even be able to reach the casino from here and provide some initial surveillance. If your eye can see that far from here too, you should be doing the same."

(I thought I replied to Vincent. Hmm.)

"My eye is mostly for macroscopic sight. Not telescopic." Breach says.

"Clear out by 10 AM. If you aren't out by then, we'll charge you for another night."

"We wouldn't want to outstay our welcome."

The man stretches once the four have gathered in one of their rented rooms. They could work out the details of who was sleeping where later, but for now this would serve as a temporary base.

"First things first... I'm going to see if I can get one of my spirits close enough to our target location and perform some rudimentary scouting. We can use whatever information I can possibly gather to help formulate a plan. In case I can't, well... Maybe start brainstorming some ideas while you wait." He paused for a moment, scarf half untied from his neck. "...Also think about what we should eat for dinner."

With his piece said, he found a spot on the floor and sat down in the lotus position, to get into stronger touch with the souls tied to his own. Once centered, he used them to start probing the area.

You reach out with your spirits and send them to your intended destination, urging them on through buildings, past nearby slums, and into a large building. You gain the following information.

Image

Image

The main building itself is easy enough to view with your spirits. The building had clearly been designed to have an open view with large windows on every wall. However, this design choice only remains in the front now. Unfortunately this is where the good news ends.

It is possible to view the building's interior, however there is some warding placed on the walls of the building that make views of the inside harder. A bit like looking through a pane of lightly frosted glass. In the main building itself it isn't complete and so while many details escape you right now, you can still see the general geometry of the building's interior. You see two bathrooms, probably separated by gender, a bar with seating for many people and a few bartenders (faces unrecognizable through the haze) and TVs, a casino floor with table games and a second floor area in the same casino separated by velvet rope.

Image

You see a set of stairs leading down into a secure zone, but the warding here is strongest. You cannot tell anything about the area except its general shape of the hallways, rooms, and ducting is visible to you, but the moment you try to go further, your spirits are repelled. The warding seems devoid of any creativity to you. It is as though it were some mass-produced product from a company. Perhaps if you had time you could unwind the warding and break through enough to get a glimpse, but that would be a difficult task.

You also see a large arena like room. This room has less warding (apparently incomplete here). In the arena are two men. One of them seems to be a young and spry character. His swings give away a passing knowledge of mixed martial arts. The other man is a bruiser. His arms have been mangled in what can only be described as a poor attempt at surgery. Possibly self-surgery. Metallic protrusions come out from his fists. The announcer is giving a play by play about the dodging and weaving of the younger less viscous combatant. Even with the blows being dealt, the bruiser seems unperturbed. He dodges a clumsy and tired kick to the face and then grabs his opponent's leg. Then a blast of sparks fly causing the martial artist to go down. The grin on the bruiser widens as he grabs his foe on the ground. More shocks. Then he starts pummeling him. The fight is called in his favor long before he stops. The announcer calls the fight in favor of Kreutz "Shocker" Weber.

OOC: Apologies, that was a huge info drop and then the holidays happened. Now then..."

Vincent blinked. "Paper, pen."

Once provided anything that vaguely matches his request he starts to roughly sketch out the building's layout as best he can manage. "This is what I'm able to gather. There's warding in the places we actually want to see damnably, such as here and here." He mutters, circling a few spots. "Then there's all this. Nothing I can really make out besides what you see here. We also have this, an arena it seems. Currently being used." He writes down descriptions of the fighters, in case they're relevant later. Though, the first one is probably going to be dead soon, which could be useful in it's own right. "This one is clumsy, unskilled, slow in general. Very strong regardless however, for these reasons here. Named Kreutz Weber, or 'The Shocker'"

He rolls his eyes at that name, then sighs and leans back. "The most frustrating part is that the warding isn't actually very strong. I could easily tear it down if I had a couple days. Thing is, that I don't have a couple days. Limits my options by a fair amount."

[OOC: The thread seems to have slowed down. Let me wake it up]

You have been sitting in the second floor room of the motel for ten minutes. As you come out of your trance, the television, which has been on with low volume, began the local news.

"Hello. My name is Ashling O'Brian, filling in for Francis Garvey who had an unfortunate bout of food poisoning. This is the Seven O'Clock news."

A moving graphic plays across the screen with a generic musical score running in the background. "Terror in downtown Los Calido as gunshots are heard in an apparent drug deal gone wrong. Two dead and four wounded. No news on the identities of the nine attackers." The screen shows an older woman in her sixties. "I saw them. There were a bunch of them. I think one of them had a green mohawk and another had this big hoop ring in her ear!" The screen cuts to several videos of the police investigating and a few shots of Zip at a distance. "The police still have no leads as to who these offenders were."

"In other news, Teresa Ortiz, the pro hero 'DJ Justice' is in town. She is headlining the Electric Daisy Festival. The festival will be going on for the next three days. Tickets are quickly selling out." Meanwhile pictures of a Hispanic DJ playing music among heavy lighting is splashed with flashes of her in costume.

"Now we pass the news to Michelle who has a piece on the state of our neighborhoods." A woman begins talking about the presence of strip clubs and their proximity to schools and neighborhoods. Pictures of children play next to videos of women dancing inside a dark club. This continues in the background while Vincent finishes drawing his map.

"You say there's warding in the walls preventing your spirits from getting into some places?" Breach says. "That makes me worry that my best trick, walking through walls, might also be thwarted. Depends on how the spirits are being blocked."

Breach looks over the maps. "We need to find out who's in charge, right? Going into the secure areas is not necessarily going to help with that. For all we know, the people in charge aren't even on the premises."

"I'm sure we'll come up with something. I'll have my spirits remain sentry in the meanwhile, maybe they'll catch something before it's time to start the operation. I'll be working on something while they do so, might be useful for tomorrow."

OOC: Vincent will be staying up for a few hours to keep watch on the chance he sees something new. I'll also be making some rolls to set up a ritualist spell, soon as I figure out what'll be a good one.

Poltergeist spends a couple hours gathering the materials and setting up a ritual space. After about twenty minutes, one of his spirits shifts form. It moans slightly as it is twisted toward his master's needs. A small object placed inside briefly vanishes. Sound seems to also be completely concealed while placed inside the spectral aura of his chained spirit. A brief gesture ends the effect, returning the object to our corporeal world.

Repeating the ritual, Poltergeist now ensured the effect was triggered when he desired.

"We should rest for now. Nothing significant has change at the casino, and there likely won't u til we crash in to make waves. When we do, I've finished instruct instructing the White Lady on how to mask your presence. It won't last for long, so I hope you make good use of it."
