John heads to lunch and looks into any electives that offer him hands on approach to technology, and some class where he could practice his music. His parents are always stressing getting good grades so that he could get into whatever school he chooses.
He keeps his eyes open looking for J.D., hoping to partner up with him on the team project.
The team begin to disperse among the variety of colourful stalls, they begin to get a feel for the societies that populated the schools walls. The majority of the stalls only were manned by one or two people, most likely trying to get their club started up for the first time. There were some clubs were were easy to identify as the well established ones. Most of them seemed to be the sports teams (unsurprising perhaps for a school like this).
As Audrey wends her way through the stands, she eventually spots something that resembles her goal. Near the centre was a well decorated stall with a large banner declaring it to be the 'GLEE Club'. It was manned by a pair of students, one male and one female. Both were attractive and well dressed, the girl looked like she may be an elf. She look up at Audrey, tucking her golden coloured hair behind ear as she smiles over at Audrey's approach. "Oh hi, are you looking for something?" She spoke in a bright, flute-like voice, and sounded genuinely happy (if a little confused) to see Audrey. She and Audrey looked like they were in contrast, both students at the stall were in clean pressed shirts, they even seemed to have badges for their club, small music notes pinned to their shirts.
As Tessa appears up on the roof, she gets an excellent view of the fair as it carries on. She can see what looks like the school band dressed in green and silver out near the car park. A little beyond them seemed to be some kind of gathering, skaters perhaps. There was a large gathering of non-humans around one stall, some others stood around what looked like a student council banner, and far more besides. From this distance it was tricky to tell. She could just about make out her other team mates moving through the crowd, investigating her own interests. Despite her distance from the fair, she can hear voices though. Turning around she sees a small gathering of about five or six students lounging about on the flat school roof. Most of them seems to be dressed in leather jackets and jeans. A lanky looking boy with mid length black hair looks up from where he was resting against the roofs ledge. "Hey, where did you come from? Didn't see you fly up".
Meghan would feel her thoughts interrupted by the a hand on her shoulder. Turning around, she would come face to face with Tanya, the girl from form time. "Hey, Meghan, you look a little lost there, are you doing ok?" Tanya gives her a soft smile as she moves to stand in front of Meghan.
Meanwhile as Sarah tries to recall her morning, she does see a familiar face in the crowd, Lucy. Still flanked by her two friends Sarah sees Lucy offer her a slight smile before waving her over. It looked like Lucy was leaving a stall hat she had been looking at.
For JD it was pretty easy to find the football stand. By far the biggest stand covered in the school colours of green and silver. There was even a queue to get to the front. Eventually when JD reaches it he sees a number of seniors dressed in letter-man jackets looming around the table. Interestingly there was both male and female members by the looks of it. the SNFL (putting the 'super' into the NFL) had made their sport open to both genders after Agnus 'Zelazo' Pozia had beaten the Dallas Cowboys single handed. Currently the boy at the head of the table was certainly not human. Looking at the brilliant red scales and snout, the closest thing that he could be equated to would be a dragon of some kind. The boy looks up at JD expectantly as he approaches. There were a lot of eyes on the freshman as he approaches.
Looking through the options presented, John does manage to find something that looks like a technology club. The area was covered with a number of gadgets and gizmos, with a real variety of students gathered around to look at what they have on offer. In this case the club looks like its run by a teacher, a tall and greying man in a rather burnt looking lab coat. John could also see a number of students dressed in band gear here an there, perhaps a chance to test his instrumental skills.
Meghan spun quickly, working to step back between Tanya's legs should be, putting her hip just so and starts to..
"Tanya! Oh hey there!" She does a little jump back. Of course she wasn't about to throw a fellow student to the ground in her jumpiness, nothing could be further from her mind. Really, honesty!
She grins a bit back at Tanya, a little blush across her pale freckled skin. She laughs, self consciously, running a hand through her ginger mane, "Hey Tanya! Glad to see you! I was hoping for some suggestions. Do you think that the Detention Club or the 2 Kool 4 Skool Club is better? It's a hard choice between the two." Her bright eyes twinkling in mischief. "What are you going to sign up for?"
We rise from the ashes so that new legends can be born.
JD had let his eyes glaze over, navigating by the microtremors in the ground; so he was completely unprepared for the draconic-looking student in front of him. His first unavoidable thought was that Satan was sometimes portrayed as a Red Dragon but he knew better than to give this thought a voice.
"I..." he stammers, his natural shyness asserting itself. "I'd like to join." he says softly, then repeats louder to be heard over the din of students. "I'd like to join."
Audrey hesitated for a moment as she looked over the two well dressed, attractive people manning the booth. Of course the Glee club had beautiful peopke in it. She knew this was a mistake, that she didn't fit in.
"Um, never mind. I, uh thought about trying out but I guess I won't be a good fit for your club. I'm sorry to bother you." she apologized while slowly backing away.
Why is it always the beautiful people in these groups? Wonder which booth sis is working at? Should probably stop and say hi. Mom and dad would be pissed if I didn't. she thought.
Sarah is wandering about the clubs and all of them seem just stupid. She finds herself just standing around when Lucy catches her attention. She walks over to Lucy and her posse. "Sorry, we're you waving at me long? I was just disgusted by all this fake community building."

John looks around, taking everything in, trying to keep an eye out for J.D. "I've got to get to him, and ask about partnering up on that project." he thinks to himself. Walking up to the Tech Club table, he introduces himself to the teacher in the burnt lab coat. "Hi, I'm John. So........What do I have to do to get signed up?
After his visit to the Tech Club, he makes a straight line to the Music club, or as straight as possible with all of the students intermingling. "Is this open to practitioners of all instruments, or only marching and choral instruments? He asks to whomever is Manning the table.

Tessa Davis (Scamp)
HP: 1; LP: 1; Condition: Normal
Tessa smiled for just a second- jeans, leather jackets, hanging out someplace that was probably 'off limits': check, check, and check. These were, most likely, her tribe. Or, more accurately, the sort of people that she would probably get in trouble for associating with.
Perfect.
Her smile widened to a goofy degree and she widened her eyes with practiced guile. "Oh please, you have to help. I was looking for the cheerleading squad, because I'm just overflowing with, like, school spirit... And somebody said they were up here so I had to come look, but I, you know, forgot like my pom-poms and stuff so now I don't know what to do..." She managed to look pitiful and hopeful all at once. For about 5 seconds before she started laughing.
"No that's not it. I've just been drowning in the kumbaya BS for what feels like days and I just had to get some air while my oh-so-vanilla 'team' go join their officially sanctioned cliques..." She looked around the group, not quite like a 'new fish on the prison yard' scene, and her smile faded. "Anyof you got a cigarette, or do I need to bring my own?"
As Megan moves to defend herself, Tanya tucks herself low, drawing her arms up on front of her in some form of defensive stance. When Meghan moves back she returns to her relaxed posture and shakes her head. "Girl, you have got to relax. I get that you've got your manic energy vibe thing going on, but it can't be healthy to be this tightly wound". Tanya smiles again and lets out an easy laugh at Meghan's question. "Oh, definitely too coo for school, I don't think you can just join detention club, I think that has to be sort of, earned I guess?" In response to what Tanya had signed up for, she shrugs in response. "Not much really, I do boxing in town already so that takes up most of my time. I signed up for the film club, you know, something to help unwind with. I think they have a yoga club or something, maybe you should have a look at something like that to help relax". She nudges Meghan in the side, giving her a teasing look following her joke.
Over at the table for football, JD's request is met by a loud laugh. This laugh doesn't come from the dragon looking student, but a heavyset kid stood behind him. "Seriously? You want to join? The boy is tall, even for a freshman. He was a little overweight, but carried a good amount of muscle about him, straining out of the letterman jacket that looks about a size too small. "What, you think that we let just anyone on the team? Do you even know how to play football, loser? Only the best can join us, not some pussy!" As he talks the boy circles around the table to stand over JD. The jeers attract a few laughs from those near by, but the boy sat at the table remains silent. He watches the pair with what looks like interest on his face.
Back at the Glee table, the girl continues to smile brightly at Audrey "Yeah, well, never mind, I'm sure there's something for you, you know, somewhere else" Despite her cheerful tone, there was a certain edge to her voice, a hardness that suggested her words. As Audrey backs away the girls gives a little wiggle with her fingers to say goodbye, but as Audrey is about to turn and leave someone calls out to her. "Hey, wait up!" Turning she sees the boy at the desk has rushed to his feet to move after her. "If you're interested in singing and just having a bit of fun, I'm sure there's a place for you here". After a moments silence he holds his hand out to her, "my name's Trevor, what kind of singing are you interested in?"
Across the way Lucy waves a hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it, it's pretty crowded here. Trust me, I know what you mean". Turning to gesturing around the area she continues to speak in that ever present bored tone. "All this, People just desperate to fit in with whatever they can. Half of them are fakes and the other half are try-hards. Only a few are actually interesting. Anyway, have you signed up for cheerleading yet? You should". Lucy's face was deadly serious as she speaks, seeming to believe exactly what she says.
As John approaches the table manned by the teacher, he seemingly scares the adult out of his skin as the man literally jumps into the air at the sound of Johns voice. Spinning around with his white coat flapping about him, John is faced by a gaunt and rather singed looking individual. "Argh, you can't just sneak up on people like that young man! I could have been holding anything!" Stuffing his hands into his pocket, the teacher continues. "Well young man, to join all you have to do is build something and bring it to the first meeting. Something creative, inventive, innovative, all of the buzz words! You'll have a week or so to come up with something, and if it's good, you're in!" The man speaks at a frantic rate, his words tumbling over themselves in a race to be heard, there is a real passion behind them as he talks about the challenge.
Up on the roof, Tessa's little performance earns a few approving smiles and chuckles from the motley gathering. The boy who had spoken previously shifts a little where he rests against the edge of the wall. "Ah, well then you've found the right place here. We're sort of the lost causes here. Well, officially we're the flying team, but that's just just to keep the teachers off our backs". He gestures over the edge of the roof towards the carpark where the skaters can still be visible. "We used to run with that lot down there but they're as square as the others". At the request for a cigarette, the boy produces a battered cigarette case and produces one cigarette. Glancing up at Tessa he gestures to the case. "Stole it from my dad". Tucking it back into his jacket he holds the cigarette out for Tessa, though he doesn't move from his spot on the ground. When taken, he snaps his fingers to produce a crackling spark of green energy to light it up, smirking a little as he does. "So you got stuck with a shit team then? I had that in my freshman year".
"I don't know," Sarah said. "I could do the cheers. But I don't think I'd enjoy it. It would depend on the other girls in the squad, I suppose. Cheerleaders tend to be trend followers, not trend setters. I'd have to meet the other cheerleaders and decide if they're fashion forward enough. Heck, maybe they need me." Sarah laughs.

As he talks the boy circles around the table to stand over JD. The jeers attract a few laughs from those near by, but the boy sat at the table remains silent. He watches the pair with what looks like interest on his face.
"W-what do I know?" JD parrots. The question was a fair one. JD scrunches his forehead, thinking. Not only about the question but also thinking about the situation. There were always those that had wanted to belittle JD. He'd developed a large frame and muscular physique early and, as such, lesser men were always trying to knock him down in order to feel better about themselves. They usually attacked his intelligence or the quasi-thuggish appearance his build lent him. And since people were people everywhere, it was only a matter of time before he encountered some here. This didn't make sense though, if you thought about it. In a school where the most wimpy looking kid could contain all the power of nuclear bomb with a hair trigger it just didn't make sense to risk antagonizing or bullying anyone like this. JD decided to go for simple and honest.
"I know American Football, also called 'Gridiron' originally, though that name was taken by a superhero exemplar in the 70's who got his career start in the sport, was first played in 1869, in New Jersey. It's rules were adapted for supers in <year> where they added a lot of things like fliers can't go higher than <x feet> and the ball must not be changed - either size, shape or substance, and must remain in existence at all times during the game. Any attempt to freeze, burn, or irradiate other players is a foul, unless that's what's needed to get to the ball, though it's a ref call and they are famously inconsistent with it. Further, I know football in school is supposed to promote teamwork, a sense of belonging, and teach how to get along with one another nicely." JD looks the big kid up and down. "Though clearly that's a lesson in progress for some."
His voice gets louder just a bit, not shouting, just possessed of a firmness, weight, gravitas. His gaze sweeps to all those nearby snickering. "I also know that anyone who uses the words for a woman's genitalia as an insult hasn't had much chance or opportunity to be around one. They're hella strong, really resilient, awesomely powerful, and divinely sacred as a source of life. It speaks volumes about a lack of knowledge and experience with them as well as a fundamental insecurity in oneself to use words like that as an attempt to put down another."
JD shifts his attention away entirely from the big kid to lock eyes with the red dragon. "Hey, I'd like to join." he says trying for his best friendly smile.
Audrey stared at the boy for several seconds. She knew her hearing was excellent so it was not her imagination that he had spoken to her and yet it was almost inconceivable that he had.
"Uh, hi. I'm Audrey, Audrey Yates. What do I like to sing? Well, mostly stuff you wouldn't be interested in. My taste in music is not exactly top 40 stuff as you can tell by my choice in clothes." she finally responded as she shook his hand.
After a brief pause, she continued.
"Um, I do have a guilty pleasure in music though. I kinda like showtunes." she mentioned quietly.
"What's her problem anyway? She acts like she's got a stick up her a$$." Audrey asked nodding her head towards the girl at the table.
Lucy raises an eyebrow half a fraction as she crossed her arms in front of her. "I didn't think you'd be down on the cheer squad, it really seemed like your kind of thing". By tone alone it was difficult to tell what Lucy was thinking about this, she rarely seemed to give anything away. Gesturing behind her, Lucy continues, "well if you want I can go with you to see them, introduce you. Who know's, maybe if you're not happy with it maybe you can help them with their fashion". She gives Sarah a playful wink before glancing around at the other stalls. "Anyway, what else would you want to join? I haven't seen much in terms of a 'fashion' club, what other stuff are you into?"
Meanwhile as JD launches into his response the crowd falls quiet, and the student can feel the intensity of the gazes on him at the moment. The mouth of the boy in front of JD moves silently, almost mimicking JD's words to better understand what was being said. Near the end. the boy seems to snap out of the stupor and lunges for JD, grabbing him by the front of his shirt. "Fucking nerd, I'm going to make you eat your words!" It was difficult to say what exactly had antagonised the kid, but his face was rapidly growing red as his grip tightens.
Just as it looks like a full fight is about to break out, the dragon looking boy lets out a laugh and stands up. "Flapjack, dude, let him go. He's not going to crack". The boy sounded mature beyond his years, calm and collected. Turning to JD, but apparent leader smiles a very toothy smile. "Sorry, Flapjack is pretty intense about, well, intense in general".
"I only want the best for the team! Go Devil Rays!" the larger boy shouts loudly, punching the air to punctuate his statement.
"Yeah, that. Anyway, you played 'super mode' before? You've gotta be tough to play".
Across the way the boy who had stopped Audrey seems to brighten up at Audrey talks. "You like show tunes? No way, that's awesome!" He speaks a little louder than Audrey probably would have appreciated, but he definitely seems to be hyped up by her comment. Trevor gestures to himself as he speaks, "I personally love show tunes, they're can produce emotions in people most other music just can't match, you know?" He glances behind him back to the stall. "Hm? Oh, don't worry about it. Haley's just taken over the glee club, it's a lot of work so she's a little stressed. When you get to know her she's actually really nice".
As he says this, Haley strides from around the desk to stand beside her partner. "Trevor, what are you doing? She said she wasn't interested". Her voice had grown a little harder again, and her stance was certainly more confrontational.
Trevor seems oblivious to it, turning to smile at her arrival. "Come on, glee club has something for everyone!"
