Mack knew his sister was capable when it came to the crunch.

"School was okay, just you know, kind of weird. All kinds of tests and stuff so they can sort us into teams and classes for the year. You probably would have loved it- they, like, threw stuff at us and dropped stuff... They even had us sort of like fight, just paired off so they could test how we move and react and stuff. I bet you get to do more fun stuff than that- 'Hell Week', eh?" She paused for a breath, and her voice dropped to a quieter, less playful tone. "And Dad is doing pretty good- I mean, I got a ride to school from Uncle Dave, and someone forgot to pick me up after school let out, but it wasn't a big deal. I mean, come on, he even cooked dinner. Nothing special, but better than I would have- and much better than you. Remember that time you tried to make meatloaf and almost set the kitchen on fire. He had some stuff waiting when I got home, and he is out in the shop now- I'm going to get cracking on some of my homework pretty soon. You want me to go get him? When is your first game, anyway?"

John WhiteEagle: LAKOTA
HP:1

After dinner John excuses himself and heads to his room. He pulls his guitar and amp from his closet. Sitting on his bed( "I need to get a chair and finish making my room resemble me." ) He thinks to himself. He goes through some warm up exercises before beginning to play parts from some of his favorite songs. He does this for about an hour before putting his musical equipment back into the closet.

John then proceeds to take a quick shower before getting into bed. Reaching over to the night stand by his bed, he sets his alarm clock to wake him up in the morning. While laying there waiting to drift off to sleep, he wonders What surprises his new school will have for him tomorrow.

"Ha, sounds pretty cool" Mack half shouts over the line as their is a short burst in shouting from what sounds like another room. "You better have won your fights and stuff, can't have you showing up the family name" he states, feigning a serious tone as he teases AJ a little. Oh and don't ask about hell week, Dad would kill me if I go on about that".

He falls quiet as he listens to AJ explain the situation, and she can almost make out a sigh from the other side of the phone. This quickly changes to a laugh as she changes the subject though. "Hey, I still blame you for distracting me while I was trying to work! It was going perfectly until then". As AJ asks about getting their dad she can hear a girls voice calling Mack's name in the distance. "Shit, I've got to go. I'll talk to Dad later ok? Good look with school, love you!" He hangs up in a hurry and fails to answer the final question as he leaves. With that the house falls quiet again, leaving AJ alone.

As John plays for a little he hears a bang on his door, a well known signal of his dad asking for quiet. John's dad was fairly supportive of his son's hobbies and such, but music in the house always seems to annoy him quickly. Really John needed a place away from home to play, but that could come with time.

The night comes, and the students for the most part for a pleasant sleep. Some a met with dreams filled with the events of the day, warped as dreams so often are. All to soon however the morning comes, and with it the sun. It is another bright day, with only the occasional white cloud in sight. It looked as if the students may be lucky with the weather today. Whether the same can be said for the events of the day, well, that would show with time.

Meghan Monroe

The sun was a lazy bastard that got up entirely too late!

Meghan was not such a stay in bed. Awake far before the turn of dawn, she leaps from the bed, running through her morning workout, showers, grabs her breakfast, heads for the stairs.. turns around, gets dressed, heads for the stairs and with a burst of speed is running towards the school, gets half way there, turns back around, heads back into the apartment to grab a bookbag that she just stuffs random stuff and food into and runs once more towards the school.

Getting there far before the burning ball of fire in the sky even starts to creep over the horizon.

JD arose with customary earliness and did a few reps. His was midway through burpees when he heard his uncle drive off for work. A quick rinse off, a light breakfast, and he's off on his jog toward the bus stop. He wonders if he'll be the first to be picked up again.

Sarah was up with the dawn and rushed to get into the shower first, assuming her brother ever came home. She was seated at her vanity table when scent of waffles made her tummy rumble. She finished up her make up, got dressed, and hurried downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast.

Seeing her mother, she said, "I think I'll take the bus this morning."

AJ looked down at the phone with a sigh. "Brothers," she muttered, as she hung the handset back up. She wrote a quick note for her father ("Mack called, says Hi! Some girl made him hang up") and finished tidying up the kitchen before grabbing her school bag and retreating to her bedroom. They hadn't been assigned any real homework, but she had her books and it wouldn't hurt to read ahead just a little, would it?

At some point (probably not nearly as early as she should have), she fell asleep.

*
When her alarm clock went off the next morning, AJ rolled out of bed quickly, showing little effect from her late night. As young as she was, missing a few hours sleep wasn't a catastrophe- and since she developed her powers she had had more energy anyway... Getting ready was easier too- now she didn't have to share a bathroom with her brother... The day looked to be another nice one, and she decided not to bother with a jacket.

Stuffing her books and school things back into her bag, she shuffled into the kitchen to grab a few quick bits of breakfast. She sat out on the front steps, enjoying the bright sunshine, just long enough to eat. For a minute or two, she looked over at the battered BMX bike locked to the porch rail- until a month ago, that had been her primary (and favorite) form of transportation. She COULD wait around for the bus...

But, well, she was in super-school now. She was supposed to be practicing her powers, right? With a wide grin, she slid her flying goggles into place and rose up into the air, wreathed in a silvery glow. She made a quick circle around the house, and then zoomed down the street towards school.

>OOC: She is aiming to arrive at school roughly the same time as the first bus (ie. early, but not TOO early).

John awakens minutes before his alarm clock would have rang. Rolling over he switched the alarm off. He rose from his bed and got dressed before grabbing his book bag and heading downstairs. He had breakfast and headed to the bus stop, to await the arrival of his school transport.

Vil Grumych Granit
Luck (Inspiration): 3; HP: 1
Condition: tired

Vil doesn't spring from bed so easily. In spite of the celebratory air conditioning the previous night, the morning comes to him uncomfortably warm. He is still asleep like a rock when his sturdy, well-beaten alarm clock goes off ... but he does resist the urge to hit the snooze button. He is curious to get to school and find out who's in his group, and besides, if he gets up on time, he might be able to watch a little soccer during breakfast.

Mama and Papa are already gone to their factory jobs, so Vil enjoys having the bathroom to himself, where he takes a shower pretty much like a human kid would -- except that the shower stall is a bit small for him. Then he eats his huge mound of granola for the morning.

He does lose track of time during his morning routine, and remembers all of a sudden that he's supposed to be catching the bus to meet up with his friends. "Aww, blin," he says as he notices the late time on the clock. Stuffing books into his bag and rushing out the door to make it to the bus stop (wishing his physical talents included faster movement), he forgets to pack any food for lunch.

Not only does Meghan arrive at school before the the sun, she arrives before all of the staff and the students as well. It takes a long while while before cars start to slowly arrive, driven by bleary eyed teachers, cleaners and cooks. She gets more than a few strange looks as they make their way into the parking lot and move into the school building. No one approaches he initially, most likely unsure what to do with her. After all, the chances of them seeing a student arrive this early is almost impossible. Eventually, a balding portly man with a huge white moustache and mutton chops makes his way towards the gate that Meghan was stood by and unlocks it. "You're here awful early aren't you?" he queries.

---- JD

Meanwhile outside of town, the bus arrives on time for JD, again being the first stop on the way into town. He would have some time alone with his thoughts as the bus slowly starts to fill up. Most of the other students are also from out of town, and keep to themselves for the most part. After all, it is still early days when it comes to socialising for a lot of these teenagers.

---- Sarah

Sarah does not see any sign of her brother as she rushes for the shower, and can prepare for the day unmolested from her sibling. Coming downstairs she sees her parents with breakfast on the table.

"Good morning sweetheart" her mother says cheerily as she hurriedly sorts her daughters food. Although she moved with the usual hustle and bustle, she looks tired, faint bags rest under her eyes (though makeup does a good job hiding most of it). At the mention of Sarah taking the bus, her mother and father glance at eachother. Geena opens her mouth to say something, but James is quick to cut her off with a his own words. "Good for you Sarah, you can make some friends on the way!" Geena looks to James with an annoyed look, but only huffs to herself in the end. "If you are going to take the bus, you better be quick with your breakfast or you'll miss it".

When Sarah boards the bus, she would see JD fairly quickly in his seat. By now the bus had quickly filled up as they had reached the main areas of town for this route, and again the vehicle was filled with the hubbub and excitement that the students always brought with them.

---- AJ

When AJ comes downstairs in the morning she sees that the note that was written remains untouched. There is no sign of her dad either, though that was often the way in the morning, especially after he had been drinking. Still, it is a peaceful morning as she watches the trucks and cars pass by on their way to work. This area was a little more rundown compared to other parts of town, but it was a communal group (if a little rough around the edges).

As the other buses and cars arrive, AJ is able to set down near the school and quickly join the other students arriving. She is not the only one taking 'unconventional' methods of travel, with a few other students flying, leaping and teleporting into the grounds. Aj would notice a few approving looks and smiles from others as she flies down to the ground.

---- John

John's morning feels relatively routine, the same as every other day really. The family sit down to have their breakfast together, chatting about the plans for the day before his brother rushes out of his room from oversleeping (as usual). With just enough time to grab a couple of slices of toast, he and his siblings make their way down the concrete street to the bus stop. John's brother stifles a yawn as he crams toast into his mouth, crumbing covering his shirt as he does.

"Ugh, I am just one step away from bunking off today, I cannot be dealing with school right now" he grumbles.

"That's because you're always up so late" Raven retorts, knowing she will get a rise from her brother. The two begin to bicker as Thomas waits to make sure that John is able to get his bus.

---- Vil

The apartment is empty as Vil rushes out of the house, though there is an empty bowl with cereal next to it in the kitchen with two boxes (just in case) of cereal beside them. As he eats he notices that his mother had scrawled a note wishing him luck on his first proper day of school. It was also signed very formally by his father on the bottom.

Suddenly seeing the time he rushes out, thumping down the stairs that lead to the apartment and rushes towards the stop. As John is about to board the bus and his siblings have begun down the path, he hears the footsteps of Vil before he sees him. Vil is just able to make the bus before the door shuts in front of him.

---- All

Eventually of the students make it to school, and begin to shuffle as a thronging mass into the the reception corridor of the school entrance. The students seem to stop to look at a huge pin board with various notes and sheets attached to it. The papers that were generating such excitement and talk among the students was a set of papers titled 'Freshman Practice Teams'. Below were several lists of six names that made a team with a letter next to it. The one that was of most interest to these students was Team C:
  • Allison Sullivan, D-class energiser
  • Jesu Daniels, D-class manifestor
  • John Whiteagle, D-class telekentic
  • Sarah Dimple, D-class shifter
  • Vil Granit, D-class exemplar
The classifications was something that most of the students had seen before. It was a method used by the American government to 'organise' the vast array of powers that were found within people. Each title helped to categorise abilities, powers and even items to present a summary and general description as to what that person could do. The letter was part of a ranking system used to represent the strength of a 'super'. D-class was reserved for students still earning their powers and for 'non-functional' powers. Powers that were more gimmicks than actual abilities. C-class was used for working professionals who could use their powers in non-combative tasks, with B-class being the baseline for a professional hero or military asset. A-class was reserved for exceptionally strong abilities, and currently there were only six member of this class in America, each one being something of a celebrity for their abilities. It was far from a perfect system, but it was what was used currently.

When looking for her name, Meghan finds that hers is actually missing, nowhere on the sheets of paper can it be found. Fortunately they were near the reception office so hopefully she could figure out what went wrong.

JD winced to see his birth name on the boards but he guessed there was no helping it.

He read his classification with interest. It was an imperfect system and he was curious if they'd classify him as more manifestor than exemplar. He guess it made sense since that's what he showed during the test. He reads over some of the others students in his class.
[Did any of the Freshmen get Higher than a 'D'-class. It seems unlikely but I thought I'd ask.]
"So..." he says to any of the other C-team that might be around. "What's a cool team name that starts with 'C'?"

"Hi, JD," Sarah says as she passes him on the bus looking for a seat.

At school she follows the crowd to the practice teams listing. When she sees her team, she is surprised to see names she knows. "Jesu? Is that you JD?"

JD grimaces. "Uh... yeah." He reluctantly admits. It was out so he might as well let people know the whole of it. "It's actually <Yay-su Doh-mi-nay>. My parents were... are really religious. I... don't live with them anymore. I just go by 'JD' now."

Meghan Monroe

She couldn't keep track of how long it had been since when she had arrived and when the older man greeted her. Time was.. odd. It didn't seem to flow evenly. Hour of having fun never lasted long enough. Being in class and having still took eons.

But for now, in the dark, as the sun began to rise and people began to fill in, Meghan was keeping herself busy. It was a new trick, one that she was still working on the fundamental concepts on. It was easy going fast, to turn on the flame trail full blast and book it. It was much more difficult to to do what she called 'popping', small very quick bursts to fight against gravity. In some ways, it was like jumping on a trampoline or a gymnastic routine floor, using the stretchiness of the floor to give you more air. That she got, just how could she pull it off in the air.

The music played within her ears:

Keep up your spirit, keep up your faith, baby
I am counting on you
You know what you've got to do
Fight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
It's your only way

With a grin, she looked back down, meeting the eyes of the man, another two flips and she was on the ground, her arms stretched out in a Y!

"Yep! Figured that I'd get started early!" She offers out a hand with a grand grin, "Hi, Meghan Monroe!" She pauses a moment, a quirky grin coming to her face. "You know, that gate doesn't really do all that much? I mean.." she jumps over the gate, spends a second on the other side, before jumping back over again. Oh how her eyes are bright with mischief, almost as bright as her grin.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Later:

Well, this was an awkward position. It only now dawned on her that she might have missed the first day of classes. Maybe some kind of testing process, some kind of forming of teams. Or maybe groups were assigned before people got to class? Worse yet, apparently, all the information was written down, on sheets of paper, which everybody was gathered around.

Stepping closer to Sarah and JD, a huge grin leading the way, she waves out.

"Umm, hey, I can't.." she shifts this way and that, "Do you see the name Meghan Monroe anywhere on there? I can't *sighs* I can't get close enough to see my name." She hops up, trying to see, well, and trying to make it more believable that she can't really see up there.

JD was big for a Freshman, nothing like the troll but still. He looks over the heads of many of his companions to check the list again.

"I... don't see that name." he says slowly. He takes another look at the asking student. "Were you here yesterday?" he questions.
