"I'd think the Infernal one would give more reliable locomotion that the sailing one and this group's been known to operate in all manner of area with potentially conflicting wind patterns. Let's try the infernal one first." Iggy suggests. "And we should probably try to sneak up to it to look around."

[OOC: Sorry for the late reply. Wonky internet stuff]

"Yes, I do rather agree with your assessment. However, since we are dealing with at least one caster, I see no reason why they couldn't simply redirect a wind current or two" Elizabeth chimed in.

"Weather magic is far more complicated thsn it seems. The mini ice age of the 1300's and 1600's was caused by farmers wanting to extend tbeir growing season. 3 years of winter was the result. Problem with weather is that it is all interconnected, butterfly in Africa flapping it's wings sort of thing. Elementals are a bit different. They don't have the same problems us ham fisted mortals do. As far as I understand it that is... " replies Sir Reginald.

"Have you the docking berth for this infernal ship. We'll go there first. If we find nothing then we can check the others." Iggy concedes. "First should we concoct devices to detect and maybe disable or dampen magic? Or do we have any such at our disposal?"

"Detect is easy. I could easily do that with my PURSE. Disabling or dampening would be trickier. There just isn't enough power in the PURSE to stop much more than a cantrip reliably. I could whip something up, but that could take time. A day if I can get past the initial research quickly."

"With some bit of analysis? There'd be magic on an infernal ship regardless to have the proper bindings. But I'd be more suspicious if they have, say, enchanted it to be less noticeable or have big blasty wards all over the place." Iggy asks.

"And, Sir Reginald, do you have alchemical supplies here? I have a few ideas that I think would help. Shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to whip up something." Iggy says, eschewing this notion of 'initial research'. "Otherwise we can stop by my workshop."

Sir Reginald rings pulls a cord. A short time later a grubby dwarvish woman appears. She has an apron full of weeds and a big sun hat on. She seems very surprised to have been summoned by the lord. "YesyourlordI'msorrythebanana'saren'tquitereadyyetandi'llgetontothefairyringsassoonas...." She stops when she catches the lords amused gaze.
"Relax Prunella please, my associate here needs some alchemical supplies. I don't suppose he could have a fossick in that enormous shed of yours, could he?" Sir Reginald indicates you, Iggy.
Prunella looks at you with some alarm, Iggy. "A goblin in my shed! I never...." She catches sir Reginald's disapproving glance " (gulp) um of course my Lord. It would be my pleasure to escort the gentleman through my gardening shed."
She leads you away Iggy to her 'shed'. It is about the size of a 2 bedroom house. Inside it is immaculate with everything neatly marked and labelled. There is a more than adequate range of chemical and alchemical supplies. She hovers nearby looking somewhat nervous.

Iggy smiles as he looks around the modest workshop.

"I have an idea to help us resist magic..." he says mixing several of the ingredients into two vials. He works almost haphazardly, never measuring, only occasionally sniffing at a vial before dashing a smidge into the concoctions he's making.

"Now add some hot peppers for flavor... excellent! These should work... or turn you green, either way, it'll be interesting."

"Now, something to dampen magic. Hmmm... A Pastille, perhaps, when burned the smoke disperses..." He sniffs around.

"Oooh... mugwort! And concentrated vinegar! some of this.... and..."
he mutters as he grabs things. "You wouldn't happen to have the secretions from a skunk's scent glands would you? To add to the aroma? No? Oh. Disappointing."

"I'm sorry, it will only smell like vanilla sandalwood." He frowns.

Having tinkered, concocted, laundered, bathed (optional), you head off to the berth of the ship in question. As your carriage gets closer you can see that it is a large private wharf with several ships docked. The gates are shut and there is a hobgoblin-like creature, a human and an elf obviously guarding it.

Feel free to make a notice roll.

There appear to be an excessive number of local hoodlums paying attention to your arrival. They are distinctive in that they all have canes and an attempt at finery, a top hat here, a monocle there, a fob watch, and dapoer waistcoats.

As the carriage came to a stop, Elizabeth eyed the hoodlums. "We may need to deal with these ruffians. They don't look like the penny mobs I am used to. Peaky Blinders maybe? I suppose our first question is do we make our intentions known or do we try to talk our way in. I do not think it proper to scare away our quarry before we have firmly established their identity, but I would love to pound in a face or two."

"I'm not good at either talking or scaring." Iggy says. "But you're right in that we shouldn't make that much noise.
I'd say Lady's Choice and I'll back you up with whatever."

Elizabeth steps out in her best. Gives a look around, feigning a lack of awareness of her surroundings. "Now Iggy, my good engineer. Are you sure this is where we can find it?" She looked at whatever hoodlum was closest to her. "Sir! Is this where the... the... Infernal Engine Powered ship is? I have always wanted to see one and am willing to pay for myself and my engineer to take a tour. What is taking you so long Iggy!"

Sorry Iggy, but this was the idea I had at the time.
