Exile
HP 25/25 | AC: 15 | Init: +5 (Advantage) | Perception: 15
Spell Slots: 3/3 | Arrows: 60

Even with their query out of sight, the elf dosn't let any movement go to waste as he scours the area with a keen eye borne of a century tracking after enemies of many sorts. Monsters were his particular band of prey, but that didn't leave him a slouch when it came to everything else either.
Surival (Track): 20

HEART
HP: 24/24, AC: 20
With one hand, Heart produced her shield, bearing the symbol of a blazing hearth. With the other hand, she quickly traced the shape of a pair of antlers along Exile's back, speaking a small prayer.
"May Balinor bless your senses."

Going to cast the Guidance cantrip to add a d4 to Exile's Survival roll. If the 20's not already a success, hopefully this helps!

Salazar
Panting, the snake-fused mirror enthusiast arrives on scene. "Gone? Could our quarry have gone upwards somehow? Goats do climb well." He says looking up and around curiously.
"In any event, Kaine your the most likely to catch up and confront and there's no finer amongst us for it." He says, giving inspiring words.

For the next ten minutes Kaine can roll an extra d6 and add it to one skill check, save, or attack roll. After a roll but before results are known.
That's a bonus action, let me know if you'd like a Perception roll for the looking around. If I can only do one go with the inspiration.

Kriv
As the others slowed down to pick up the scent of their quarry, Kriv unslung his shield and drew his sword, preparing to intervene if any of them were attacked. "My Duty is your shield." His usually jovial face took on a more solemn expression. The words were well-practiced, acting as both prayer and training mantra, and this likely wasn't the first time any of the others had Kriv say them.

Kaine
[Monk 3]
Ki Points: 3 / Short Rest
HP: 1 ; Condition: Normal
Kaine will attempt to track and chase the shadow using his acrobatics to avoid obstacles that would slow him down. Turning the corner seeing no one he starts to climb up the alley wall using door arches and window ledges to reach the nearest roof. Calling out. "Exile where are you?"

Emboldened by Salazar silvery tongue, Kaine started off at full speed rolling over or under obstacles chasing the shadow as fast as he could. What the hell am I doing chasing a ghost? The pirates are in the center of town aren't they . . . damn it. We didn't get to eat.Tracking: 19 https://orokos.com/roll/759539

Re: On the road (D&D 5E IC)
While Kaine and Exile scout for tracks, Heart and Kriv prepare for trouble, and Salazar keeps his head on a swivel while encouraging his ally. Exile meanwhile spots a boot print in a suspicious place on a wall, promoting him to look up.
It is that which alerts him and Salazar to trouble as it descends on the party too quickly for proper warning. Four figures in dark cloaks drop rapidly from the rooftops with the aid of ropes while two more take aim with hand crossbows from above.

Everyone roll init. Everyone but Salazar and Exile are surprised for the first round. The perception check didn't beat their stealth for the ambush, but I felt it was high enough to at least let him see them as they dropped down, which wasn't enough time to warn the others.

Glad now to have geared up, Salazar spots the ambush and is quick to respond.init: 1d20+2 20
He stocked his weapon belt and unlumbered his shield. "Let's be about this then." and he follows those of his group outside... after taking one more bite of those delightfully spiced potatoes.

Re: On the road (D&D 5E IC)
After years training in the Pit, Kaine exhilaration at being in the open spaces. Even in the city caused his fighting spirit to soar even higher. His adrenaline pumping the sudden appearance of ropes and flapping of cloaks prove false his worry of chasing ghost. . . . “First pirates, now ninjas? What is with this city?”
I don’t see where I was asked to ever make a Perception roll. If it makes a difference please let me know. Or we can just go with the flow.

Exile
HP 25/25 | AC: 15 | Init: +5 (Advantage) | Perception: 15
Spell Slots: 3/3 | Arrows: 60
Inspiration: None
Sharing a brief look with Salazar, he exchanges a non-verbal cue to initiate a tried and true tactic. While there was nowhere near the trust here that he had with his bow-brothers years ago, he had become adept at moving alongside the Warlock after many battles.
Though the crates in the alley wouldn't provide for him substantial cover from their foes, they might benefit and giving him a higher angle. So with a leap and dash, the elf pulls himself up to a standing position and keeps his bow taught. Then, he waits, just long enough for Salazar to pick a target, and fires a following shot. The cover provided by their perch however proves too great a foe
OOC: Mechanically, move action onto crate, hold action until just after Salazar to execute a plan we thought up in PM. Exile will proceed to shoot at the target Salazar attacked, regardless of if it hits.
Attack: 9
Ah... that won't hit though.

Salazar Cyrux
HP 21/21 | AC: 18 | Init: +2 | Passive Perception: 13
Spell Slots: 3+1/3+1 | Bardic Inspiration 2/3
Inspiration: 1
Salazar could see the angles were all wrong to go after the hand crossbow shooters, but he could do the math, 4 descending melee attackers would engage 3 of them hand-to-hand, this was his only shot to give the elven hunter a wounded foe before the up close fighting began.
With a gesture, a shimmering reflective shard, like a jagged piece of tarnished mirror tumbled through the air* for the crossbowman closest to the pile of crate the elf was perched on. He saw the elf's arrow following close behind.
Whether hits or not he draws his shining pick and takes up[ position at the base of the crates. they'd have to get by hit if they wanted at the elven archer. For all his talk of cowardice and fashion, the look on his snake-y face was dead-pan serious when it came to battle.

Kaine
[Monk 3] AC: 16 HP: 21
Ki Points: 3 / Short Rest
Condition: Normal (-3 HP)
The archways and ledges of the alley door and windows provided Kaine with hand and footholds his mother's people would let children play on. For him it was almost as easy as walking down a cobbled street. Reaching the precipice Kaine vaulted over roof edge with intent of planting his foot under the chin of the nearest pirate crossbowman.

Re: On the road (D&D 5E IC)
As the ambush springs into action, Kaine, Salazar and Exile spring into action on instinct. Exile's arrow goes wide enough to allow on the pirate archers to angle his body and let the arrow pass by harmlessly, but that only sets him up for the magical shard sent by Salazar to strike him. It clearly pains the pirate, but doesn't fell him.
On the other side of the alley, Kaine advances on the other archer, but the nimble pirate evades the perhaps over-enthusiastic attack.
One of the pirates calls out "Caster!" though it's hard to tell which with the lower part of their faces covered, and the archer wounded by Salazar takes aim on the warlock and fires a bolt that buries itself in the crate near Salazar's head. (Disadvantage, turning a crit into a miss. Gotta love it)
The archer now engaged unexpectedly on the roof by Kaine draws a dagger and makes a wide slash at the unarmed warrior, scoring a shallow wound (3 damage)
The four pirates on the ground look to move with the poise of having practiced this particular ambush or at least having plenty of experience using it on more unexpecting prey. Heart and Kriv by appearances look to be the heavier and thus slower of the group, best to be paired off and flanked, overwhelmed with numbers, as such, they pair off and move to flank Kriv and heart, two pirates each, attacking with short swords, but despite their pirate's evident proficiency, they can't manage to get a telling blow through Kriv's armor or past Heart's shield. (4 attackers with advantage, and some really close rolls, but not quite good enough to hit.)

Back to the top of initiative. Everyone gets to act this round, but we'll go in chunks, so Salazar, Exile and Kaine can all act and post in any order, then pirates will go, then Kriv and Heart
