Garald's eyes narrowed subtly when he saw the event play out with Leon and his being drawn closer to the opposition. The were closing ranks around him now, with the Samaritan falling in around the target as well. If they didn't need information from Leon, they'd be nicely grouped for an explosive attack.

"We're not getting anywhere. Proceed with the disaster Keito. Let's see if it creates enough of an opening for Cognagion or I to make a decisive move."

Roger blinked as things started to click into place, slowly and surely. Already things felt as id they were getting out of hand, just what was he supposed to do and get Leon away from these pieces of- Wait. Wait.

Something was off with the paneling, something that Ferari evidently wasn't even aware of. It didn't matter if they'd tried to study for this role of theirs, studying schemtics and buzzwords to sell the I age. They didn't go the extra mile that he did, taking over the body of a man who's worked in this business for years. Rodger's expert eyes caught notice of the way a certain part of the panel was bent- it was damaged. Damaged in such a way that it'd take only one good electrical surge to cause so ething... Nasty.

Mentally, he smirked at their good fortune.

"What do you mean there's- Wait, what did you do-?! Leon, back, get back!" He shouted in alarm, grabbing the man's arm and pulling him back in the split-seconds before Kaito tried to do whatever the hell he was doing.

I wish to use that hero point to edit the scene just a little, to where the paneling in question already had a prior fatal flaw that Kaito could explain. Maybe that'll make it easier to do what he's trying to do.

Kaito presses the button to fire off the pressure release valves of the drill. The various warning lights go haywire in the lighting up the boards like a festive house during Christmas. Leon looks at the panel readout and almost goes ballistic in frustration, but before anyone can see anything more all the drill pressure release valves release. Seeing ones own hand right in front of them is hard enough in the ensuing steam. Seeing more than five feet is impossible. As "Roger" tries to pull Leon away, he feels a counter pull. It's tough to tell which is pulling back, but the likely suspects are the two Others.

Meanwhile at the cameras, Kaito gets lucky and thinks he closed the firewall gap, but the other hacker slips in the last open port forcing it open. For a moment, Kaito sees the data from all the cameras streaming to whatever device was being used by the other hacker. Whoever was going through the feeds was fast. The feeds setup so far were being processed at super computer speeds that not even Kaito could keep up. What he does know, by virtue of a vague message in his head almost as if someone planted it is that the Other knows where Kaito is now.
The distraction, since specified as minor gave a +10 to the roll. The opposing hacker rolled exceptionally well however. For the other hacker finding Kaitos location, Kaito gets a HP.

The distraction specified was
Electrical surges for lights off and/or over pressurization of nearby steam pipes causing bursts and flooding the area with steam

As a result of the distraction, everyone is blinded by the steam for one round.

I need a strength check from Cognagion to counter the pull.

We are now entering "combat" rounds. So, time for initiatives.

Garald jerked his head to the side when steam flooded the area. He was expecting something destructive. Something with collateral damage that would make the bleeding hearts of their enemy leap to the aid of civilian. Chaos that he and Cognagion could exploit. As it was any action he took was effectively flailing in the dark. It risked doing more harm that good to their cause.

"Kaito ... being blind doesn't help us."

... the Russain stated tensely over the line of mental communication. He just hoped it cleared up before the enemy could rally or use Kaito's distraction to their advantage.

Really?! You can't pickpocket him in the confusion? Or even grab him and get away from the God Squad? Or take out one of the squad? I told you what was happening and when. If you guys weren't in position to capitalize on it... Dunno what to tell you. Now my network is compromised and my position's known. So I'm dealing with that. Kaito retorts in a blur of words fired into the link.

With the steam filling the air, everyone is panicing. Leon especially is exclaiming loudly to let him go so he can fix the breakages. Cognagion does his best, but the body of a regular person verses the strength of the Others isn't even really a match. "Roger" feels the loss of Leon to those trying to counter the pulling. In the steam, it's hard to see what happens next. Cognagion and Garald know is something is happening.
I will need a 23 on perception if you want to get any sense of what is happening to Leon. If you meet or beat it, you hear Leons muffled screams above the others as he's pulled away and out of the steam.

The steam clears after this round.

Kaito will lament the loss of his camera system but knows whoever has control will just use it against them. With a burst of power he disintegrates the router coordinating and broadcasting the camera feeds. Now no one could use them.

Kaito starts moving, whoever it was knew his location. He heads for the nearest bank of showers or basin with a drain. He'd looked at the water system for just this eventuality. He tries to find one away from prying eyes so he can transform into gas and flow into the drain.
Standard action and then move.

Kaitos burst of power doesn't go unnoticed by those watching Kaito with an annoyed expression. Before he can see what happen though and the persons reaction he is bolting for the nearest drain. To get to one of the emergency showers that are tucked away, he needs to bolt through some of the workers doing actual work on simple maintenance for the fresh water supply of the rig. They look at Kaito strangely, but don't do anything otherwise.

Once getting to the drain, Kaito is effectively out of sight and can transform into the chaotic cloud that he can be. While he things he safe for now and ready to descend into the drain, he hears a voice in his head. Kaito, I know you aren't like the others. It was an accident what you did. There is still time to repent and change your ways. We don't need to be enemies. Join us and we can save the world from itself., transmits the voice.

Garald Medvedev
HP: 1
CND: Healthy

Garald's initial instinct was to chide Kaito further. A distraction and a disaster did not explicitly imply blinding your team with steam. Scolding someone further in a stressful situation, especially a teenager, was more likely to result in further stress and more mistakes however. Garald decided they could work on developing Kaito's communication skills later. Now they needed to make due with what was before them.

Quickly, thinking faster than the normal human mind was capable of, Garald mentally ran through what they knew of the oil rig's layout. The positions of cameras. Ventilation systems. Plumbing and piping that might not hinder Kaito's passage. The positions of known and suspected opposition.

Even as he was planning ahead Garald was moving, he'd heard what sounded like Leon's voice. Muffled and distorted by the cacophony around him. But it was the best he had in the moment. Rushing out of the steam he looked to the source of the scream ... and assuming he found Leon being dragged away by someone ... he bolts over to them. Placing one hand on Leon and the other on the antagonist's wrist, he twists the wrists and applies a swift push-kick to his foe's chest to weaken their grasp them force them away.

"Cognagion, they took Leon this way."

... Garald proclaimed mentally to his comrade, providing him with the direction that the man had been dragged.

"Kaito, follow my directions exactly ..."

... so Garald began, giving Kaito directions down one of two routes he had considered. Either the Russian would have succeeded is wresting Leon free, and run past a location to from which Kaito could exploit his gas form to ambush pursuers as he exfiltrated Leon off the rig. Or Garald would fail in his attack and he planned to guide Kaito to their location via a path that would allow his entry to be a surprise.
OOC wrote:Perception check to get any sense of what is happening to Leon Perception DC 23: 1D20+10 = [16]+10 = 26

Standard Action to Grab Leon (Atk) and break the hold of whomever is dragging him (Str?) 1D20+9 = [9]+9 = 18
1D20+15 = [14]+15 = 29
18 on the Attack roll. 29 on the Strength

Move Action to move to Leon. If Garald manages to break the hold of his antagonist and get a grip on Leon, he'll use Move-by Action to zip off to the location he gives Kaito.

If Garald doesn't get Leon free, he'll want to provide Kaito with a route he can traverse in his gas form to sneakily enter the scene from while avoiding cameras (ventilation?). Alternatively, if he does break Leon free, he'll want to provide Kaito with a route to travel discretely and a location to spring an ambush on people that might pursue Garald as he moves to leave the rig with Leon.

Assuming Garald can perform his regular actions and think of this in the same round, here is an Expertise Military check in the event it is needed: Expertise Military: 1D20+15 = [15]+15 = 30

Garald hears Leon being dragged off into a direction away from the rig. Leon is putting up a big fight, but compared to the others he isn't much of a match. By the time Garald clears the steam, he can see Leon kicking against the one they recognize as the Ferarri jacket guy and the "angel" flying away from the rig. They are saying something to him, but given the distance he can't quite tell what they are saying. Body language wise, he clearly is not buying it and acting like they did something.

In Garalds head, he hears a strange voice. You don't have to play the game. Give let us have the artifact and live your life. All we want to do is stop heaven and hell from ruling and to let people still determine our own fate., says the voice pleading with Garald. He can't see where it's coming from and no one around seems to be talking to him, but someone clearly sent the message.

Back from where Garald was, he can see the panic on the rig with the workers trying to get away from the area and in a near panic. Today was supposed to go smoothly, but now it was turning into a mess. One crew was rushing to the area with fire extinguishers just incase it is a fire.

As Garald takes flight, he is able to catch up to the two Others pulling a struggling Leon away. Leon is clearly accusing them of causing the accident and sabotaging the rig while the two deny it. They are all surprised to see Garald arrive, pull Leon away, and head back to the rig with Leon. Both of the remaining Others in flight look poised to return to get Leon.
AP and RG's ready actions of someone trying to take Leon went off, but they don't get to act normally this round.

They are about 500 feet away from the edge of the rig. Given the sighting, of them flying I will allow Garald to have switched his array to flight and get close to them if desired. If you still want to try and pull away it will be extra effort to get another action and I will edit that bit in depending on your decision.

The steam clears after this round.

Rodger reached for the radio on his belt, pulling it up and beeping it twice to get a line in to the security room. "We have- " He coughs into the reciever, "We've got a situation! At least two men, saboteurs, they blew a line and they'd taken Loyd hostage! I need every man available if we-re too- Holy shit!"

The man grabbed one of his non-enthralled workcrew just to help sell the illusion of actually caring when something somewhere blew. Others were going to get injured, some people might even die, if only there was someone who could- "Help! Oh god, someone please stop them!"

Internally Cognagion was on a rampage as he pulled the strings of several workers in key positions throughout the rig, capitalizing on the busted pipeline to set things in motion that would finally do what his host had been dreaming about for weeks. This entire rig was a problem, a nuisance, something to be hated, and now they just couldn't take it anymore. Barrels were moved into place, workstations had their power suddenly jacked to the max, and in one case a woman simply flipped a switch from on to off.

The best part of it all?

All of this would be tracked back to one key incident. A pipe bursting in section B-4.

OOC: Deception(The Grand Plan): 36

Standard: Spread the Word: DC 22 Will (Aimed to get the attention of our angelic fellows, if the rig about to blow up isn't enough incentive. Given the descriptor and circumstances, this command should be utterly undetectable.)

Warning lights go off all over the rig related to a broken pipe and workers move in double time to try and get things secure. All except the few on the rig still under Cognagions control. His thralls were decreasing, but he still had enough to do some damage. Before, the rig it felt like a web of thrall loss. Now, it was burst out of the area. In all the chaos of the rig, one thing was becoming clear to Cognagion. Wherever the dove necklace was, it was somewhere on the rig.

A few workers arrived with fire extinguishers and other equipment to fix the steam leaks near the drill, but not as many as before since they were rushing about trying to find any more damage possibly caused by the leak. Amidst this chaos, the Ferrari jacket guy quickly descends back onto the rig and rushing to Garald and Leon.

As Ferrari jacket guy stares down Garald, Garald can feel band of invisible energy wrap around him and start constricting his movements. Whatever the guy was doing, it was trying to bind Garald in some fashion.
As far as Cognagion could tell, he couldn't get any of the Others. Not all of their turns have come up though. Since it is not selective, the command also went to other workers on the rig within earshot. Their command was overrode though by the move again to trip a sabotage.

Garald needs to make a DC 20 defense save. One degree of failure is Hindered and Vulnerable Two degree of failure is Defenseless and Immobile
