Angela think about calling out after Blane but decide not to call attention to herself. When the security guard and Blane turn a corner, she moves Alan's chair near the boys door. She gives the hallway one last look before attempting to open the door and push Alan inside.

The guard escorts Blane away from the room. He walks a step or two ahead of Blane, but always keeps the large priest within his peripheral vision. Not trusting the other man to leave his sight.

"Yeah. I saw. You were standing outside his room like some creepo' stalker and peaking into other people's rooms. That's not alright."

… Angela and Alan faintly hear the exchange between Blane and the security guard as the two men step into the elevator and the doors begin to close. Once they're out of sight Angela looks up and down the hallway. The raised voice of the guard had drawn some attention, but with Blane leaving the situation appeared to be resolved and people who had been looking your way resume their own treks through the hospital halls. At an opportune time Angela open the door to Hugo's room and pushed Alan's wheelchair inside.

You step inside and find an immediate shift in temperature. When you exhale, there is a billowing loud of steam from nose or mouth. It is dark. Darker than it should be in a room with a window during midday. The blinds are closed tight. If you reach for the light switch to turn the room's lights on there is a click. The a buzz from over head as the lights flicker dimly but never come fully on.

Looking around the room Alan sees Hugo, pale and clammy, laying in his bed with eyes closed. He looked delicate. Fragile. Bent over the boy, at his bedside, is a tall androgenious form with long white hair, deep sunken black eyes, and a mouth with rotting teeth opened wide. It' mouth hovers inches away from Hugo's. The boy exhales deeply as the disturbing creature inhales, as though sucking the air out of his lungs.

As Alan takes in this scene a cold spike of fear stab up his spine.
OOC wrote:Only Alan sees the creature. Alan may reactively spend a HP to activate The Sight and Self-Control at this point. Otherwise Alan needs to make a DC 20 Will save. One degree of failure means he is frozen in fear. Two means he does everything he can to get as far away from the scene as quickly as possible. Three degrees of failure means he flees in fear and forgets what he has witnessed.

Alan's eyes widen, and he reaches hand to grab the woman's arm roughly. "Angela, take the IV stand and swing with allyour might, right there!" He nearly shouts, gesturing with hand just where he could see the creature.

Angela Skyking
HP: 3>2; Condition: None

The last thing Angela wants is to be found swinging an IV stand around a kid's room. Angela activates The Sight and Self-Control. As she sees the creature, she takes her nunchaku from her bag and swings at it in a manner that will not strike any other hard surfaces should the weapon pass through the creature.

"To level with you, I'm worried about Hugo and ultimately was trying to get information that might have helped in his recovery and keep him safe." Brother Blane says earnestly. "Doesn't something just feel off about that wing? You've been there a lot, haven't you felt it?" the priest asks the guard.

Angela and Alan
Rushing to whip out her weapon and strike the monster standing over Hugo, Angela steps forwards and strikes! Her aim is just shy of missing as the last inch of the nunchaku hits it's mark. Or, it should have. The weapon passes right through the grey skin of the abomination and out of the other side of it's shoulder as though there were nothing in that space other than air.

There thing flitters. There. Not there. There again. After one flicker it has straightened up. Another flicker it has turned to face Alan and Angela. It's coal black eyes gaze on you. The skin around it's eyes look charred. It's cheeks and eye socket sunken. It flickers again and is suddenly standing in front of Angela, it's grotesque face right in her. It's mouth opens wide, too wide. Stretching inhumanly and it seems to scream but there is no sound. Loose objects and even more heavy medical equipment in the room begins to shake. The windows rattle and you can hear them begin to crack.

Then, suddenly, the IV in Hugo's left arm ribs out. Tearing open the child's arms and spraying both Alan and Angela in the boy's blood.

Blane
Back in the elevator soft jazz plays as Brother Blane explains himself to the guard, who no doubt was beginning to think Blane might be a pedophile stalker. THe guard responds with a sternness in his voice.

"Hugo's recover isn't your responsibility. It is the responsibility of the medical staff in this hospital. Nor is it your job to keep him safe while he is here. That falls to the security staff. If you think there is something ..."

He doesn't finish the sentence. Instead he stares ahead silently. The elevator comes to a stop at the first floor. The doors do not open.

No! This situation was already deteriorating before his eyes, so much of hia mind was filled with the fear of losing another one to the darkness that he just couldn't bother giving credence to the real world troubled that were to follow. Alan sped his wheelchair over to the for as fast as his hands could manage, ducking underneath the wayward banshee of a spirit.

His hands moved quickly, tearing st his own scrubs to get enough material so he could quickly staunch the boy's open wound.

Angela charges her weapon and strikes the creature again. She hopes this power thing will punch through the nasty thing. There's blood in the air. She can smell it and it makes her angrier. The boy is going to die if this thing isn't taken out. She is vaguely aware that Alan is doing something to helpl the boy. A laugh escapes her lips for only a second. Blane wasn't her to keep her in check.

Brother Blane looks at the man as he abruptly stops talking. "Uh, hello?" he waves a hand in front of the man's eyes then hits first the door open button then the Emergency Call button.

Angela and Alan
Alan hurriedly wheels himself to the bedside of the little boy. The child's arm pumping out blood in pulsing waves in tune with his tiny heart beats. Doing his best to focus on the medical emergency in front of him and not the malevolent spirit or the future, Alan tears off a portion of his clothing and quickly acts to staunch the boy's wound. There is so much blood. It spills onto the bed. Covers Alan's hands. Soaks the improvised bandage. How could such a tiny person bleed so much?

A couple meters away Angela is focused on the creature screaming soundlessly in her face. Retrieving her nunchaku from her bag he feels her anger aggression well up for her. Every negative impulse she has for the thing in front of her well up into a fire inside of her that heats her hands and spills out into her weapon. The wood of the bludgeoning weapon ignites, lighting aflame, and the chain links between the two sections turns red hot. She swings the nunchaku into and through spirit. It feels like swinging through air but Angela can see a trait like smoldering embers move through it's mass in the wake of her strike.

The spirt reels back after being struck. There is a look of surprise on it's face, then confusion, and finally it's features are twisted by rage. Tossing it's head back he seems to yell or scream at the ceiling. The shaking of the windows, loose objects, and even the room's door intensifies to a raging clamor. Tossing it's head from right to left it's face blurs and stretches in the wake it's movements. With a dramatic flap of it's arms the spirit throws it's hand forwards, closing them inward toward Angela, it's too-long lingers hooking at the air like talons.

That that violent movement the rooms feels like it explodes inwards. Glass from the windows, loos objects, even the monitoring equipment all lurch inwards in a violent storm that rains down on everyone in the room. In the wake of the violent assault the spirit's form flickers … and is gone.

Angela and Alan are both hit. Make a DC 20 Toughness check. This is not an AoE Effect, so there will be no Dodge checks to halve the damage.

If Alan takes damage he will receive an additional -1 Toughness because of his prior injuries, but he'll get an additional 1 HP. The Complication may effect Alan multiple times a scene, but he'll only get HP for it once.

Hugo is at risk of being hit as well. I will give one of you the option to take the hit for him. This would be another DC 20 Toughness check (which Hugo would not survive). This is a GM offered narrative opportunity that will effectively take up your character's action for a round of combat, as neither Alan or Angela have Interpose.
Blane
Blane doesn't get the chance to press the emergency call button. As he waves his hand in front of the guard's face, the man grabs hold of Blane's wrist with one hand, while the other moves to the priest's shoulder. Using Blane's own arm as a level the security guard slams him into the elevator door. There is a loud wump as his large frame impacts with the door. Then he feels pressure from his arm as the guard tries to lever Blane up against the door with his own arm.

Alan T. Darwin
HP: 4
Status: Wheelchair-bound, -2, Dazed
-{o}-

Toughness: 22 Pass
Protecting Hugo: 13 -2 + Dazed

If the complication applies to the check against Hugo too, I've noted it.

Not wishing to see his efforts go to waste so quickly, Alan leaps up from his wheelchair and takes a full hit from the debris slamming outward into the room. The sudden movement causes his head to swim, and the shards of glass digging into skin make his already painful injury seem so much worse. The child though, the child is safe for just... a little longer...

"Angela..." He slurs, his visioning darkening at the fringes. "I don't care what bullshit you tell them, call.. call the nurses now..."

The initial pull against the man was reflexive but Blane is glad he didn't tug free. He relaxes into the hold. With his other hand he holds the doors close button.

Blane's voice is still calm. "Sir, you stopped talking abruptly. I was checking to see if you were alright. It was not an attack. The elevator cameras will show that. They'll show you attacked a priest unprovoked based on nothing but his build and... looks. You don't want that to go on your record. There's enough of that going around these days. I had been concerned for your health and safety. That is all."

Angela takes a second to survey the damage. Belatedly she realized she should have done something about the boy. Hopefully Alan is not too reinjured. She chucks her smoldering nunchaku into a corner of the room. She hopes it turns to ash like the tire iron did. "Tornado," she says to Alan. "It was a tornado." She yanks the door open and cries out, "Nurse! Nurse! Emergency!"

Once there's a nurse paying attention (and hopefully headed in her direction) she starts to babble, "We were just sitting there praying and the window crashed and the wind shook and there was a mini tornado in the room. The equipment went flying. The wind grabbed the boy's IV and yanked it out of hit arm. There was blood everywhere. He's bleeding bad. Alan was quick thinking to stop the blood flow." Angela stays in the hallway trying to stay out of the way as she expects several medical personnel to start going in and out of the room.

Blane
The guard holds Blane firmly against the elevator door. He was strong. Blane was a strong man. One of the strongest out there. But this guy was even more so. The priest begins to offer his explanation, but about the time he says, '...if you were alright.' the guard raises his voice into an abrupt yell.

"What are you doing?!"

The next thing Blane sees is the guard slamming his face into the elevator door. The sound of each impact resounds against the door. After the third impact there is a crunch as the guard's nose breaks. Blood trails down the lower half of his face. A four hit and the guard's grasp on Blane goes slack as he falls unconscious to the floor. It is at that moment that the elevator doors open.

Outside a trio of would be elevator riders look on in surprise and shock at the sight of Blane standing over the guard's unconscious body.
OOC wrote:I am aware that Blane was holding the door closed button. In this instance it doesn't matter.

Blane receives 1 HP for his being framed for assaulting the security guard.

Angela and Alan
Angela manages to catch the attention of a passing doctor as she hollar's out for help. He's a middle aged dark skinned man with a face that has begun to wrinkle. He had been contentedly biting into a bright and shiny red apple when the call for help goes out. Calling over a distant nurse he pauses only briefly to address Angela and Alan on his way into the room.

"Stay here. We're going to need you both to give a report on what happened."

There is a flurry of activity as the doctor takes over and asks Alan questions about the nature of the injury. The bleeding is temporarily under control but the doctor calls for a stretcher. The boy was to be taken in for surgery on his arm.

Brother Blane
HP:2(I believe)
CND: framed
[I'm assuming there weren't any reflective surfaces that Blane may have seen what happened.]
Brother Blane doesn't have to feint any surprise as his eyes widen in shock. "Get help!" he says crouching to roll the guard on his side so he doesn't drown in his own blood. "I don't know what happened. I didn't see." he says honestly to anyone still there, as he works to save the man's life.

At no point does he think to run. Either the elevator's camera feed would show what really happened or God would give the sounding of Truth to his words. Or, quite possibly, this is one of those times the machinations of the Devil would triumph. Either way, he could only do what he could do.
