Re: Waterdeep: Dragon Heist! (5th ed)- OOC
Thank you for the opportunity, Spectrum. I designed her backstory and character for a game that never happened. I think it fits here.
Lady Marigold Albrect
Lady Marigold Albrect was minor nobility, a distant cousin of one of the noble houses of the city come to deliver important letters of account from the distant branch of the house, visit, and take in the wonders of the city. She currently attends all the functions, balls, and functions the elite of the city have to offer and she is quite charming, graceful, and beautiful at them. The only problem is that this is not Lady Marigold Albrect.
Lady Marigold departed from her estates with a sparse entourage and her 'special handmaiden', Marisa Tenebral, Marisa was a thespian who looked similar enough to the Lady that she could be a convenient substitute should the Lady wished not to attend some function or another. Her skills at impersonation were top notch as well, though she never had a commanding stage presence so was not significantly engaged when her friend asked for her presence.
The trip was ill-fated as her entourage encountered a group of determined bandits. Lady Albrect was hit by a crossbow bolt before the horses could be brought to speed so in effort to escape their persuers they fled into a not often used fork in the road; the one with all the warning signs against travel. The coach passed into the out edges of the Shadowfel. Many of the entourage succumbed to the chilling disease of that realm almost immediately. Marisa felt fine though. She hopped up to the reigns and guided them back out of that realm. The bandits had given up on their quarry unwilling to pursue into the 'haunted path' but Lady Mariposa was in bad shape. The letters had to be delivered, but more than that, her family needed the prestige that could only be gained by her presence at the society functions. Lady Albrect implored her handmaiden and friend to represent in her stead. She asked her seneshal, a stout if elderly man and one of her only servants to survive time in the Realm of Shadows, to go along with, and vouch for Marisa's ruse. The elder agreed.
'Lady Marigold Albrect' continued her journey steeling herself for the deception to come. She was unprepared for the dreams.
Being in the Shadowfel left it's mark on her afterall, it awakened the magic in her blood and wormed its way into her veins. She practiced with her new found abilities in secret and gained a measure of proficiency before arriving in the city and joining the ranks of the elite as one of their own, nervous but determined.

Eyes of the Dark
From 1st level, you have darkvision with a range of 120 feet.
When you reach 3rd level in this class, you learn the Darkness spell, which doesn't count against your number of sorcerer spells known. In addition, you can cast it by spending 2 sorcery points or by expending a spell slot. If you cast it with sorcery points, you can see through the darkness created by the spell.
Strength of the Grave
Starting at 1st level, your existence in a twilight state between life and death makes you difficult to defeat. When damage reduces you to 0 hit points, you can make a Charisma saving throw (DC 5 + the damage taken). On a success, you instead drop to 1 hit point. You can't use this feature if you are reduced to 0 hit points by radiant damage or by a critical hit.
After the saving throw succeeds, you can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.

Re: Waterdeep: Dragon Heist! (5th ed)- OOC
In terms of group dynamics, while not drinking friends with the others, she can be known to them (and they, her). She has a reputation for refinement but also a practicality that her city cousins do not seem to have. Her magic powers are not well known though. Definitely not their origins.
She could be a 'random' that gets caught up in things.

Intresting group dynamic idea: you could know both Brennakovic & Autumn due to the incident with the Shadowfel.Vivid wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 6:01 am In terms of group dynamics, while not drinking friends with the others, she can be known to them (and they, her). Marco was a Mideville version of a Highway Patrolman and spotting what was left of the carriage, immediately went to offer aid...
Autumn & her teacher Dallas are travelling clergy, so there's would be a very similar reason to Marco's...
Hence we three got to Waterdeep probably the same time. Neither of our characters knew who OG Lady Marigold was, so if the surviving Senshal started calling you that, we'd just assume you were her. Thereby strengthening the lie even further.
But this all depends on if Spectrum gives the ok....

Re: Waterdeep: Dragon Heist! (5th ed)- OOC
Fun concept, I'm looking forward to seeing her in play.
Let's move forward with these four.
Bill, hopefully no ill has fallen over you. You are welcome to the game if things open back up for you.

Almost forgot, Autumn isn't all that smart. She shouldn't speak like someone with an abundance of formal education. She's worldly though for someone her age, so I figure she knows a big word here and there. Maybe even what they mean.
She definitely has the accent and speech pattern from someone from the countryside though. Little rural village type place.

Added some descriptors to Lady Marigold.

Weren't told otherwise, so I think we all assumed that was the case.
Though, to be fair, Spectrum never commented in thread about those boots Macyn had that granted advantage on riding checks. No idea what a cost something like those would/should have.

When i run games, i usually add anywhere from 10-20 gold depending on available materials/locations. Since normal High-Strap Boots look like this...Gunmetal_Rainbow wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 10:37 pm Weren't told otherwise, so I think we all assumed that was the case.

and Riding Boots loik like this and designed ONLY for riding(there a Pain to walk around in & help's explain Marco's bad Dex score)..
I figured the pricing would be a lot higher(kinda like a medieval version of getting a Ferrari instead of a sensible car ...).

Normal gold please.Gunmetal_Rainbow wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 10:37 pm Weren't told otherwise, so I think we all assumed that was the case.
