The rope snaps as it is cut and for a moment, the clowns remain in the air even though nothing supports them anymore. It's almost comical, how they slowly look down, their eyes go wide - way more than possible for a human - and two of them plummet into the horrid depths. The third, however, grabs his silvery suit and somehow manages to both spread and inflate it, slowly floating to the ground like a feather...
Some of the children gasp while those clowns who are on the outside of the pit stop their pranks.
" Gusto, I think we have strangers here", one of them says.
" You really think so, Dupo?" another says with an exaggerated affectation meant to emphasize mental slowness.
" I KNOW so!" Dupo says. Slowly, he grabs his head and begins to pull....his neck growing longer...

[Ah, How do the kids react? Are they, as a whole, too spellbound to react with panic and chaos?]

The kids gasp and some few seem to be somewhat shocked, but their reactions are strangely subdued. Most kids just keep watching and laughing as if this was some kind of a deliberate joke.

How many clowns total are in the tent, and does one seem to be looked at as the 'leader'? (Maybe the silver suited one?)

Now, there are 6 clowns left. The silver-suited one does not seem a leader, but the one called Dupo seems to be larger and has a more imposing presence. If they have a leader in here, it's most likely him.

Jig sheet
HP: 46/46 | AC:20 | Pass.Perc:14 | Spells; 2x1st, 2x2nd

Jig grinds her teeth as she regards the jovial clowns. Through clenched jaws she speaks low to her companion. "Do you see any other way than direct combat?"

Rikolf is gripping his axes tightly. " Hrm...I don't. As long as nothing happens to the children, battle is fine by me."

[Not knowing quite how it's mapped out, is there a pair or trio that Jig can potentially knock into the pit with a Thunderwave spell? Y'know, start the fight off with a bang. :) ]

Gusto and Dupo are standing relatively near the pit.

Jig sheet
HP: 46/46 | AC:20 | Pass.Perc:14 | Spells; 1/2x1st, 2x2nd

Cinching her shield straps tight, Jig's helmet closes over her face. Wordless, she starts a loping run for the two clowns so that they are between her and the pit. When she gets in range she charges and releases a kinetic pulse toward the ground in the surrounding area. The roar is deafening.
DC16 Con save targeting as many as she can get in a 15-ft cube. Any who fail save take full dmg, and pushed back 10 ft. Make it is half dmg, not pushed.

Thuderwave: 2D8 = [7, 6] = 13

init when regular rounds start.
init: 1D20+0 = [10]+0 = 10
1D20+0 = [13]+0 = 13

best is 13

Hashiji Haru
AC: 16; HP: 38/38; HD: 5/5; Passive Per/Ins: 18/17; Lang: Common, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Thieves Cant, English
Initiative: 22

Haru sees Jig start her rush toward the clowns. She moves swiftly and silence behind another clown attempting to attack it with surprise. It is only after she strikes that realizes Jericho is not around.

Stealth: 1D20+7 = [16]+7 = 23
Attack on clown: 1D20+7 = [14]+7 = 21
1D8+4 = [5]+4 = 9

Sneak attack, if applicable: 3D6 = [1, 2, 3] = 6
Initiative: 1D20+3 = [19]+3 = 22

" Found them!" Dupo says, pointing at Jig running in. The Thunderwave hits both him and Gusto, driving Dupo back while Gusto manages to stand his ground.
With a comical " Yikes!" Dupo goes over the edge, hanging there for a second with nothing holding him before plummeting.
Haru steps behind one of the other clowns, a thin individual with garishly-coloured hair standing from his skull in unruly clumps.
" Owww!" it makes, " My back! My poor back!" as the blade finds its target.
Striking one of these...things feels profoundly wrong. Haru knows the sensation of a blade parting flesh, but here, it seels as if she is striking rubber and before she can pull out the blade, she also feels something shift underneath the skin.
Then, the clown pivots, snarling and Haru realizes that, up close, there is no way anyone could mistake them for human. The eyes are too large, the nose is a red, almost tumorescent growth in the middle of the face. There are black veins underneath the skin, throbbing in an unsightly pulse. The lips are swollen as if inflamed and those teeth...
They are not pointed, but that almost makes it worse. They are larger than they should be, so large that some are as a big as thumbnails and arrayed in three rows inside a jaw that Haru is absolutely certain can be dislocated.
" That hurt...a lot!" the clown complains and fat tears are rolling down its cheeks.
" And we are just getting started! THOR! Your strength through me!" Rikolf bellows, delivering a running charge that culminates in him raising his axe, which suddenly glows with divine power, before slamming it into the clown's body with a thunderous roar!
Paladin damage spikes can be truly delicious. That's a smite with a thunderous smite added in. So, 1D8+3+3D8+2D6 for a total of 39 damage.
The clown staggers back, his upper body bending backwards from the force until his head actually touches the ground. There are red, pulsating worms crawling out of the axe wound but you do not have much time to contemplate that, for his body snaps back and he delivers a brutal headbutt to Rikolf!

The norse paladin curses in his native tongue, an ugly wound on his temple leaking blood into his eyes. The clown, meanwhile, already seems to have forgotten about him, winding up for a punch in Haru's direction, the motion exaggerated and slow...or at least it seems that way, for when the attack actually comes, it is lightning-quick!
If a 17 hits, 13 points of damage to Haru
Gusto growls and steps towards Jig with long strides, his neck still unnaturally long. Grabbing himself by the neck, he actually swings his head around to strike at Jig, attempting to bite her!
Two attacks, one with a 13, the other with a 19.
If the first hits, 12 damage, if the second hits, it's 9.
The other clowns head towards the heroes...but seem to intentionally appear as if running in slow motion...

Jig sheet
HP: 46/46 | AC:20 | Pass.Perc:14 | Spells; 1of2x1st, 2x2nd

The first head strike/bite fails to get through her thick pauldron and the second she barely manages to bat away with her shield as Jig establishes a target lock on the monster-clown in front of her.
on her turn
[Bonus action: Hunter's Mark through Fey-Touched Feat]
She then rounds on the thing with a Sono-kinetically-charged fist. Between her first action and the sonic nature of her fist-field generators, Rikolf might think that *she* was honoring his storm god too.
Then, if it's in range, she strikes out at the one harassing her companions, drawing it's attention to her. (If it's not in range she'll attack Gusto again).

Hashiji Haru
AC: 16; HP: 25/38; HD: 5/5; Passive Per/Ins: 18/17; Lang: Common, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Thieves Cant, English
Initiative: 22

Haru staggers back from the blow. She can taste blood in her mouth. "These things must end." She strikes again, hoping it will be somewhat distracted by Rikoff.

Attacking again, Rikoff provides sneak attack: 1D20+7 = [9]+7 = 16
1D8+3D6+4 = [7]+[3, 3, 5]+4 = 22
