General COVID-19 Topic

Post by Ares »

Hey folks. I probably should have made a topic regarding this sooner, so that's on me.

Nothing especially wrong on my end, I'm doing fine, but I know my situation isn't everyone's situation. These are scary times, and the best way to combat fear is with information. So stay up to date on the current goings on in your area. Take reasonable precautions. Feel free to talk about any problems or anxieties you're facing on here or in the group Discord.

If you're in any kind of trouble, let the rest of us know. We might be able to help.

And above all, keep your spirits high.

I'm on my second week of WFH. Not the best situation, but we're managing. Probably ought to make another grocery run before things get more locked down...

I was planning on the same, after the 8am craziness dies down. People are freaking insane right now. On the plus side, the local store had toilet paper!!!!! I got me some as I was down to my last 4 rolls.

Panic buying idiots.

Anyone else using some of this down time to work on some rebuilds?

Well, I've joined the WFH crew... was the last person out (other than management who need to stay on for the time being...) and its weird to WFH...

But now, yes indeed builds and rebuilds !

I'm mostly working from home but as an employee of an essential industry (power generation), I've had to go in to work a handful of times. The boys are home from school and been doing online classes. My wife hasn't left the house in 3 weeks.

Things are weird at the grocery store. One day, ground beef is limited to 2lbs per person. The next, it's on sale and take as much as you want.

In my field of work, the Orthotic and Prosthetic, we are considered essential. I have to go to the Hospital which I work out of for emergencies only. It has definitely changed how we operate and treat patients. Stay safe everyone and be patient, this will pass.

Everyone be aware and take care.

I'm at odds until the crisis passes, as are most in my state. No immediate worries. Catching up on a couple projects.

All my best!

They're hoping for us to be back to work by wednesday. I have my doubts.

Nobody should be going back to work for at least a couple more weeks. At least in the USA. I don't think anywhere is far enough along to start putting people together again

Depends on where you work. City government is coming back in, albeit under different roles it sounds like, and other essential workers who don't fall into medical or food. There is still jobs like power grid, plumbers, communication providers, and national defense that need to come in from time to time unfortunately. There is only so much those jobs can do away from other people before they need to.

That said, I agree non-essential jobs in the U.S probably won't be starting back up in an office environment for at least a month.

I worked from home for three weeks, and then I got laid off until the end of June, so I've been off work for a week.

And my dad's been in the hospital for a good chunk of that time. From a fall.
