You clearly didn't read my Cheetah build, or else you'd have seen a full paragraph on that very thing *cries*

Intimidation 12 (+10 Size)
Perception 8 (+9)

Complications:
Disabled (Animal)- Cats cannot speak to humans, nor use their paws to easily manipulate objects.
Enemy (Hyenas, Other Predators)- Lions & Hyenas have a dark relationship with each other, frequently killing each others' infants, and stealing kills. Lions will also attack and kill other predators like Leopards and Cheetahs on sight.
Rivalry (Other Males)- Being King is nice, but every single other dude in the proximity wants to nail you girlfriends, and will fight you to do it. It's a constant struggle to keep your own genes going, and most males only rule for 2-3 years.

Total: Abilities: 38 / Skills: 32--16 / Advantages: 14 / Powers: 13 / Defenses: 13 (94)

Era: Pleistocene Era
Range: Eurasia & North America

Encounter Groups: Prides (4-6 adults with one male and cubs)
Diet: Antelopes (especially Wildebeest), Zebra, buffalo
Tactics: Silent stalking, followed by pounce. Chokes or severs the spinal cord.

-The extinct "Cave Lion" is in fact one of the largest felids in history, being about 25% larger than the modern Lion. One rating suggests that an adult male weighed up to 930 lbs.! Average weights likely sat around the upper level of modern Lions today. Only 80 Lions were found in the famous La Brea Tarpits, vastly outnumbered by Smilodon & Dire Wolf specimens, meaning they may have been more intelligence or just smaller in number. The American Lion went extinct along with most of the Pleistocene megafauna during the Quaternary extinction event- the widespread introduction of humans, along with global climate change, altered their prefered habitats and made life more dangerous. So the two largest cats of the Americas died out, while their stealthier, smaller cousins prevailed.

-The American Lion is a larger, stronger version of the African Lion, packing more Tiger-like stats. However, it drops the mane.

-Tigers are the monsters of the Cat family, being a few hundred pounds heavier than the Lions at maximum, and they are NASTY fighters, legendary the world over for power, beauty and skill. When you're a step below "Dragon" on the Chinese hierarchy of bad-ass, you know you're tough. Their striped coats are totally fascinating, but it leaves them a major enemy- man. Moreso than many other cats, Tigers are hunted for their hides, as well as dong medicine, and so they're Critically Endangered over a huge portion of their range, and several subspecies are either extinct or near-death- the Bali, Caspian & Javan Tigers have all died out in the past one-hundred years. There's also the ridiculously-awesome white variant of the Bengal Tiger, though attempts to recapture that over and over again has left them very, VERY inbred. Similarly, there's a "Golden Tabby" variant that has brownish stripes.

-Tigers are extremely popular throughout the world- Animal Planet even named it the most popular animal alive, getting 21% of a viewer poll. They're sacred to pretty much every Asian country (the same ones that exterminate them for dong medicine), show up in tons of literature, movies & comics (several comic book characters have "Tiger" in their name somewhere- Tigerstryke, Tiger Tyger, White Tiger, Bronze Tiger, even Tiger Shark kinda counts), from Shere Khan (a semi-crippled Tiger in The Jungle Book, hence why he hunted man) to Hobbes from Bill Watterson's immortal comic strip.

-PL-wise, no other living cat is better. It's PL 8.5 with it's claws, gaining a notch of power from its added size to unarmed & clawed strikes. This leaves it a half-PL above the Lion, which seems about right, given their respective powers. Either one can bring down animals several times larger than them (past even the Moose- Horses, Elk, Buffalo & even GIRAFFES are all prey for cats this size), and are only opposed by equally-large predators like Bears (which outweighs the Tiger, but beat them in power), or by the mighty Hippopotamus, Elephant and Rhino. And yeah, 101 points is VERY expensive for a terrestrial carnivore, but I think it suits them. They maximize Stealth, Perception and fighting skill in a non-PC animal, and would make a fine Sidekick or back-up to anyone.

-Tigers, being enormously-strong, very stealthy, and living in close proximity to some of the most densely-populated nations in the world, is a tremendous danger to man. There are estimates that at least 373,000 people have been killed by Tigers between 1800 and 2009. 50 or 60 people per weretaken in the Sundarbans of India before precautions were taken. One Tigress in Nepal & North India managed to kill about *436* people over the course of her life! And these are usually weakened, INJURED Tigers! They are able to differentiate between armed and unarmed people, sneak up behind people despite weighing in excess of 600 lbs., and kill anyone they can reach. It's only their knowledge that man is dangerous that really holds them back, as many Tigers avoid humans intensely.

This video from the old fight science show was always interesting to me, I did a bit of tiger claw kung fu training and it was brutal those guys dont mess around.

And with the power the tiger generates just playing around its easy to see why given the tiger is just playing around they estimate it could do 5 times or more what it did if serious

tigers are simply amazing

-Many Tigers rival the Siberian in size, but are slightly smaller. Statistically they work out about the same.

Large Tiger Types:
BENGAL TIGER: The most populous Tiger in the world, with a staggering... 3,000+ population. Yeah, that counts, I guess. Bengal Tigers are one of the most common ones seen in zoos, and are the subspecies that produces the famous "White Tiger" breed, as well as the Golden Tabby variation.

-Part of my goal with this phase of my Animal builds is to provide variations like this- so that not every Tiger needs to be a Siberian variety at full power.

Medium-Sized Tiger Types:
INDOCHINESE TIGER: One of the larger subspecies, weighing from 220-430 lbs. Only 342 individuals are thought to live in the wild.

Image

SOUTH CHINA TIGER: The South China Tiger is also quite large, though critical endangered (living in... well, China). Weighing between 220-380 lbs.

Image

JAVAN TIGER: Javan Tigers died out in the mid-1970s, and weighed between 175-311 lbs. The rapid trannsformation of Java's jungles to farmland removed much of this Tiger's territory, and they were rapidly poisoned and hunted until none were left. Some reserves were created, but large plantations in their midst (in the best hunting territory) seems to have finished the Tigers off- none have been seen in more than forty years.

-The smallest Tigers are even smaller than many Jaguars or Leopards, weight barely more than large people! These are typically from island populations, as in an isolated area, it wasn't necessary to grow so big.

Small Tiger Types:
SUMATRAN TIGER: One of the smallest types, typically not weighing more than 310 lbs.

Image

MALAYAN TIGER: Another of the smallest breeds, weighing between 100-285 lbs., and very few remain- likely under 400 individuals in total in the wild.

Image

BALI TIGER: The Bali Tiger is an extinct subspecies that died out in the 1950s- one of the bigger "charismatic" species to die out in recent history. They were a subspecies known only on a single island in Indonesia. Males typically maxed out at 220 lbs.

-Smilodons are among the largest cats of all time, and have freakish oversized canine teeth (giving them their old name, "Sabre-Toothed Tiger", though they are quite distantly related to actual Tigers), mainly used to sever the throat of their prey after a long struggle has left them exhausted. See, teeth of THAT size are incredibly fragile compared to standard bone, so they could potentially cripple themselves if they bit too hard. Smilodon populator, the largest subspecies, could weigh up to 1,000 lbs. by many estimates, and is the one built here- it's a PL 9 hunter like the Tiger, but has a naturally-stronger Bite (that is nonetheless Inaccurate), with lesser Claw strikes aside. They're the same price as Tigers, given lower speed levels (their front limbs are longer than their back ones- not great for quickness) and different weapons.

Disabled (Animal)- Cats cannot speak to humans, nor use their paws to easily manipulate objects.

Total: Abilities: 38 / Skills: 44--22 / Advantages: 14 / Powers: 16 / Defenses: 13 (103)

Era: Pleistocene Era
Range: North & South America
[Colouring: Tan
Size: Up to 8.5 feet long (500-1,100 lbs.)
Encounter Groups: Small packs (scientists dispute this)
Diet: Various ancient mammals
Tactics: Silent stalking, followed by pounce. Chokes or severs the throat with it's huge teeth

If you ever encounter a Smilodon (and you do not have any superpowers of your own) be sure to smile back! It just may save your life!

*GLEE* My favorite! I love Smilodons. If they get around to cloning them, I want one.

-Manticores are the creation of Persian mythology- a Manticore had the head of a man, the body of a lion, and a tail covered in venomous spines (or just a scorpion's tail). With triple rows of teeth, they were man-eaters ("Mardyakhowr" = "Man Eater"). It passed into European folklore because of a Greek court physician of King Artaxerxes II in the 300s, but later writers presumed this was a tiger with some mythological fervor attached to it. Even so, the naturalist Pliny wrote numerous fanciful descriptions into his books, which were repeated endlessly in the Middle Ages, speaking of it as some mysterious man-eater from India. Even in the 1600s, naturalists would write of the creature like it was real. Manticores very rarely appear in fiction that I can see- an even larger, bat-winged version is a rent-a-monster in Dungeons & Dragons and that's all I can remember.

-It's got a human's head on a lion's body, with bat wings and a scorpion tail (though the wings are a recent addition, being stuck on by RPGs and other Tabletop Games, to the point where it's hard to imagine the creature without them). The size is pretty much variable enough that nearly anything you could come up with would be accurate, but I went with a "Huge" variant with Growth 6. It's a huge, venomous creature (+8 Progressive Venom is NASTY, especially considering how dangerous it's natural strength is) nearly as large as an Elephant, and much more dangerous. It's a full-on PL 10 team threat.
