He gains powers partway through so I left that one out.
id slighly disagree because it really doesnt get brought up again until the end of the 2nd season so he spends most of his time as a normal guy
Dr. Silverback has wryly observed that this is like trying to teach lolcats about Shakespeare

Complications:
Motivation (FUN!)- The Impossible Man is out to have fun. Usually by annoying the hell out of super-heroes.
Relationship (The Impossible Woman)- Impy found love by asexually reproducing. They even made The Impossible Kids!
Quirk (Pop!)- All of Impy's powers are noticeable by virtue or a "Pop!" sound effect. He's not exactly interested in stealth, so he usually doesn't mind.

Total: Abilities: 74 / Skills: 20--10 / Advantages: 5 / Powers: 168 / Defenses: 14 (271)

The Impossible Man- Marvel's Mxyzptlk:
-The Impossible Man was basically another one-shot guest star in the Fantastic Four run of Stan 'n' Jack, and is a REALLY early one, to boot. However, he was actually pretty well hated by the fans and writers, and thus took THIRTEEN YEARS to reappear after this first appearance. That is CRAZY- pretty much the entirety of the characters of the Silver Age lasted a little longer than that before disappearing (friggin' PASTE-POT PETE and STILT MAN got more of a run!). Lee says it was "the worst-selling Fantastic Four we've ever had!", and that the goofy-looking green alien "was too unusual and too frivolous".

-Later writers had a bit more of a sense of wonder regarding the goofball, using him for random diversions and deus ex machina endings (since he could do pretty much anything with his powers). His kind of stories are generally ideal for "one-offs" that largely feature the character annoying the main characters- he's bothered almost every Marvel hero after a point, generally by engaging in Jar-Jar Binksian "Wacky Antics" while making Pop Culture References. He really just seems more like Stan & Jack's attempt at copying Superman's Mr. Mxyzptlk or Batman's Bat-Mite.

-"Impy" debuts arriving on Earth as a tourist from the planet Poppup (which has a hive-mind of shapeshifting people), quickly becoming a nuisance, harrassing the FF and others until Reed figures out that he just wants attention, so he insists everyone else ignore him. Deciding that Earth was "boring", he leaves in a huff. He acts as a deus ex machina to save Earth from Galactus, by offering up his planet of Poppup to the Devourer of Worlds- Galactus seems to die of "Cosmic Indigestion" in a pretty bizarre twist. The Poppupians willingly sacrificed themselves, knowing that the culture and hive-mind would live on in their "most adventurous member", which makes sport of not just Galactus, but GENOCIDE. This is a truly weird story.

-He reappears harassing the Marvel Comics offices in a cute bit where the Marvel people just write themselves into the story- Stan Lee gives him his own title so he'll leave them alone. He mimics President Jimmy Carter, history's greatest monster, saving him from an assassin, and helps out the FF a couple of times. Watching the Thing with Alicia Masters, he grows lonely, and asexually reproduces to create an Impossible Woman, and they promptly create the Impossible Kids. He swipes various pop culture paraphernalia in a contest against Warlock of the New Mutants, but bawls his eyes out when Warlock proves that unlike Impy, HE can change color! He encounters Rick Jones, the New Warriors & the Silver Surfer in the '90s, and the Poppupian race is recreated in a 2000s Spider-Man tale- their consciousness had been kept safe inside the Impossible Man. Later, he shows up in the comedic FF book, with a new son named Adolf Impossible, who unlike Impy, is more introverted. Here, the Future Foundation kids openly debate whether or not Impossible Man is a super-villain, using evidence such as him wearing purple & green (villains' colors, obviously).

-All in all, the character has been used MUCH more often in the past 20 years than he ever was beforehand, but usually for simple one-offs. Stuff like the Galactus story was way too much, but he's fine for a diversion, though a bit "DC"- the whole thing of having vast powers but no seriousness to him was more in line with their old storytelling, though Marvel's embraced a lot more silliness in recent years, making Impy a better fit.

Powers:
-Impy is actually QUITE powerful, but isn't a heavy-hitter in combat. He's just a bastard to actually INJURE, making him an effective, versatile PL 12. He needs two sets of Move Action Variable, one for copying others' forms, and one for Shapeshifting into stuff like spaceships. If he was more of a fighter, he'd be REALLY dangerous, but instead he's just really damn annoying.

What the heck is happening in this pic?

Darkoth and She-Hulk look normal, but Hank, Hawkeye, Wanda, Pietro and Union Jack all have been colour swapped....

And Iron Man, Black Widow, and Spider Woman...
Maybe it’s set in an alternate reality?
Looks like a scene from Paradise X? Most of the characters who died and were shown in "Death's Realm" (there's a very LONG explanation of that) were in opposing green and orange colors.

As I said before, I think this scene is from Universe X #X
Always ask before you use someone's Original Character.
Never ever use them without permission. Only Villains do that.

-Brute is the Reed Richards of Counter-Earth, the Earth created by The High Evolutionary- the Cosmic Rays of his version of the FF gave him Hulk-like powers instead of elasticity, and his teammates basically were nothing (Sue was rendered comatose, Ben & Johnny were unaffected). He turned evil after being hit in the head by a metal cylinder (REALLY, Thomas? That was the best thing you could come up with?), then took over Mr. Fantastic's role after transferring Main Reed in the Negative Zone. He soon sent The Thing & Torch there as well, but the three FF members allied with Annihilus (!) and returned. After watching Reed's selfless dedication to his wife, The Brute's mind was cured, and he sacrificed himself in order to keep Mr. F's promise to return the Cosmic Rod to Annihilus (I guess that was part of the deal). However, he would return from the Negative Zone, totally evil again and using some aliens as minions, but was KO'd by The Thing after fighting the FF once more. He was later seen as an inmate on Pleasant Hill, though has largely been forgotten.

-The Brute is basically Reed Richards with Powerhouse abilities- he drops a few points in Skills owing to the fact that '70s Reed wasn't as smart as Current Reed. He's JUST notable enough to break my rule about not building "Alternate Universe" versions of characters (seriously- it's just cutting & pasting abilities most of the time).

Complications:
Relationship (The Richards Family)- Nathaniel is somewhat distant with his son Reed, but is quite close with Franklin, his grandson.

Total: Abilities: 70 / Skills: 48--24 / Advantages: 8 / Powers: 0 / Defenses: 8 (110)

Nathaniel The Long-Lost Father:
-It's a bit odd that we apparently never knew much about Reed Richards's father until the EIGHTIES, but comics kind of made less of a big deal out of "backstory" back in the day. And of course it's funny that John Byrne, who criticized how comic book writers (but Claremont specifically) always made sure that NOBODY was ever "normal", by giving them insane, convoluted backstories involving all kinds of weird stuff (something I actually agree with)... gave Reed Richards a weird Time-Traveling Super-Genius of a father.

-Nathaniel Richards disappeared when Reed was a teenager, having fallen into another dimension, where he fell in love and married one of the women there (his first wife, Evelyn, had died when Reed was a boy). Nathaniel's new wife Cassandra conspired against him, and the Fantastic Four had to arrive and save his life from his subjects. Along the way, they met his daughter Huntara- Reed's half-sister. The FF had left him there so he could rebuild that society, but he returned under the worst possible circumstances, basically abducting Franklin into the future, to prevent some horrible chain of events from coming to pass- Franklin was supposed to marry Rachel Summers and have a child who would become the super-villain Hyperstorm and destroy the world. So Franklin was aged-up to adulthood to avoid this. Franklin later returned, Nathaniel got mixed up with the Celestials and Watchers (he invaded the body of Exitar of the Celestials, but was expelled), and he vanished again.

Things Get Complicated:
-Generally speaking, Reed's dad doesn't get used much (he tends to complicate everything, what with involving family relations AND time travel), but writers who are unafraid to complicate everything will use him- he's since been revealed as the possible father of KANG THE CONQUEROR, got involved with Immortus, who ordered the "Great Hunt" that involved every cross-time version of Nathaniel trying to kill all the other versions. Naturally, he became the last one standing, after the FF and Doctor Doom got involved fighting his insane counterpart- the final other Nathaniel remaining. Doom killed this one (called "The Beast"), and he began teaming up with the Hickman-era "Future Foundation". This naturally involved Hickman's beloved "Convoluted Cosmic Mess" style of storytelling, as Reed's dad acted as a sort of "Chessmaster", with plans within plans, that led to Reed surviving an invasion by the three Mad Celestials. He has since disappeared once more. Nathaniel has since been given some backstory as a member of the ancient science-themed "Brotherhood of the Shield", along with Howard Stark, Leonardo da Vinci & Isaac Newton.

-Ultimately this character feels... unnecessary. Like a pain in the ass wrinkle in various stories. Him being nearly as smart as his son and granddaughter complicates the "science scene" and comes off as very same-y, and even worse, it just makes a MESS of continuity at points, as it involves retcons AND time travel. I guess he kind of works as a potentially-dark "chessmaster" with his own intentions, as there was always this uncomfortable sense that he was just doing his own thing. But the fact that he's barely been used in almost 40 years of existence is telling.

Near Reed-Tier:
-Nathaniel is a genius like his son, but not quite on the same level as an inventor- his main focus is careful planning, having seen so many different futures. This allows him to manipulate events constantly, always ensuring the favorable outcome. He's nowhere near on the FF's level as a frontline fighter, however.

Thank God they dropped the "90s Space Guy" look.
Don't you love the "whole outfit is metal except for the leather boots" look?

Total: Abilities: 72 / Skills: 72--36 / Advantages: 29 / Powers: 74 / Defenses: 10 (221)

Fantastic's role after transfering Main Reed in the Negative Zone. He stoon sent The Thing & Torch there as well, but the three FF members allied with Annihilus (!) and returned.

I always liked this character, dunno why.
Yeah, me too!

Total: Abilities: 108 / Skills: 40--20 / Advantages: 23 / Powers: 101 / Defenses: 17 (269)

Annihilus- Unexpected Mega-Villain:
-Annihilus, "The Living Death That Walks", was kind of an odd choice for a Mega-Event Villain, all things considered- he'd mainly been a Fantastic Four villain before that, and wasn't really known for major stories, either. He was just kinda some otherworldly threat who appeared now and then, and didn't interact much with the rest of the world. But WOW, was he ever one of Marvel's Big Dogs after Annihilation gave him a huge push. He debuted on the tail end of the "Stan 'n' Jack" era of the FF's book, in an Annual of all things- he and his people inhabit the "Negative Zone" and, since Reed's crew were still technically explorers in addition to being super-heroes, the FF came visiting. They stole his "Cosmic Control Rod", siphoned off some anti-particles to soothe Susan Richards's Cosmic-Pregnancy Complications, and then returned it- that was that!

-Afterwards, however, Annihilus became a recurring threat from beyond the veil- generally popping in for short stories where he tried to invade the positive matter universe, and he was usually just sent back through a portal or whatever. He was POWERFUL for certain, and rarely got beaten down, but his credibility wasn't at some major level from what I can tell. It was kind of more of a "keep his armies away from our universe" kind of threat, as physically he was high-tier, but not invincible. He was seen off by the Avengers once, and Spidey & the Human Torch another time. Once, he had his Control Rod stolen by Blastaar the Living Bomb-Burst, a fellow denizen of the Negative Zone. He nearly died, invading Earth with lower powers, but was beaten and then revived by Blastaar for some reason. He attacked Asgard, but was repelled by Odin, but later kidnapped him during the Odinsleep (hee hee), then got defeated by Thunderstrike. He & Blastaar then teamed up with a fellow Negative Zone warlord known as Syphonn, but they betrayed him during a fight with Adam Warlock.

Annihilation- THE Space "Event Story":
-So while he had credibility as a threat, Annihilus was just not a big deal, rarely interacting with characters on a major level. And then ANNIHILATION happened. In the 2000s, Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning partnered up with Keith Giffen to re-heat Marvel's now-latent Cosmic Scene, rescuring countless characters from obscurity in a series of one-shots that combined with a greater "Event Series". Guys like Nova, Quasar, Star-Lord and Ronan the Accuser were turned into Main Eventers, and this random occasional FF baddie shows up... and nearly destroys the entire universe!

-Annihilation was a mega-event that focused on the Cosmic/Intergalactic scene at Marvel (while the rest of the MU was wrapped up in the stupid, but game-changing, Civil War event). Annihilus had gathered all of his troops and, rather than just go through a portal and fight Earth in small numbers, they formed an "Annihilation Wave" that annihilated entire WORLDS. Their first target resulted in the destruction of the planet Xandar and the entire Nova Corps. along with it, which was the huge shot in the arm to set the whole event off. And soon afterwards dozens of other worlds were destroyed by this nigh-invincible plague of insect-like monsters. When the friggin' HERALDS OF GALACTUS started dying, you knew shit was on- guys like Morg & Air-Walker were disposed off, and Firelord went comatose just taking out one of Annihilus's QUEENS. Cripes, even GALACTUS was beaten, as Annihilus's horde soon grew to include Thanos and a pair of Cosmic Beings who were contemporaries of Galactus himself. In the end, Galactus is freed and destroys the Annihilation Wave in an energy blasts that covers entire parsecsd, and Annihilus was stopped in his quest to destroy everything in the universe by Richard Rider, the last remaining Nova, who pulled the monster's heart out through his mouth after Annihilus had killed Quasar, capping off one hell of a story.

The Return of Annihilus:
-So of course, Annihilus now "Pulled a Mysterio/Question"- hitting his largest point of credibility just when he died. So he returned, as it became established that he always resurrected into an infant form. And in this form he's stayed for quite some time, even killing Johnny Storm with another horde of bugs, then resurrecting him repeatedly and forcing him to die in an arena for his amusement. By this point, he'd become a "Hickman" character for his own FF book- he is eventually deposed by Johnny, who leads the Annihilation Wave against the Kree invasion fleet and the three Mad Celestials in a great bit of business. However, heo is later forced to deposit him back on the throne after some free elections are called (Annihilus wins a massive landslide "write-in" vote, as all of his hordes are still loyal)- Johnny acquiesces, but keeps the Control Rod for himself, negating the monster's power. Later, he uses the Hulk's physiology to transform himself into a more-monstrous form and invades Earth, killing countless heroes, but Thanos & Adam Warlock unite to travel back in time and undo this, then devolve Annihilus into an insect and skoosh him (I assume this is Jim Starlin wankery). He regrows into adult form and attempts another invasion with the Nega-Bands of Quasar, but they are stolen and he's beaten by the All-New Avengers.

The Living Death That Walks:
-Annihilus is a high-powered bad-ass, capable of beating Ben Grimm or Blastaar in simple hand-to-hand, much less when he's using the Cosmic Control Rod to wipe the floor with entire groups of people. This is sorta him before the Annihilation Wave, when he's just a guy who can fly down to Earth and smack around Thor for a while, but maybe still lose. During Annihilation, he swiped Wendell Vaughn's Quantum Bands and amped his power to the point where a full-on Universe-Destroying Blast by GALACTUS just manages to leave him weakened enough that Nova Prime can use Extra Effort and kill him. Yeah, a planetary system and 9 million Negative Zone Bug Ships wiped off the map, and Annihilus was still kicking ass.

John Byrne being a hypocrite? I am shocked, I tell you.
