I'm pretty sure Al Milgrom's drawings of Tigra can be legally-classified as instruments of torture by the Geneva Conventions.

Weakness (Outside Their Dimension)- The LMDs will shut down without access to Zodiacal Energy from our dimension- inter-dimensional travel will shut most of them down.
Responsibility (Zodiac Nature)- The LMD Zodiacs were extremely focused onto their particular sign's habits and nature. This made Leo very argumentative, and prone to demanding leadership and explanations about the team's actions.

-The LMD Zodiac created another Tigra to go along with Sagittarius/Hawkeye. She resembles "1980s Tigra", being PL 9 still, but weaker all-around. She brawls with Wonder Man briefly, and de-powers Iron Man with Virgo's "Power Syphon". She was deactivated with the rest of the LMDs in the Ankh Dimension.

-Sagittarius is another pretty lame Zodiac guy, being like Aquarius in that he was only a melee fighter with no powers or unique gimmicks. Not exactly terrifying, and wearing a costume that matches Piledriver from the Wrecking Crew for the Most Generic Super-Costume of All-Time. He's another crappy borderline PL 6 guy with barely any talent. Most Crime-Boss types like him have a decent amount of interpersonal skills and wealth, but he's hardly a threat for anyone else in tights.

Total: Abilities: 22 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 11 / Powers: 47 / Defenses: 6 (94)

-The LMD Sagittarius debuted with the other LMDs, and proved to get a bit of focus in an issue where a bunch of people were allowed to join the Defenders simply by CALLING themselves "Defenders". These lame-oid superheroes managed to beat a group of goons led by Sagittarius, but he escaped by confusing the police and insisting they arrest the ragtag heroes, too! During the West Coast Avengers story, he's part of the team that kills the original Zodiac Cartel, but is himself "killed" when one of Hawkeye's arrows hits him in the chest. A nonplussed Scorpio just makes a new one with the Zodiac Key.

-Sagittarius II was a pretty standard Blaster, being an opponent for Hawkeye with his ranged Wrist-Blasters and sarcastic attitude. He's still limited to pretty much his basic attacks, but he can shoot-em-up like an Elite Thug. My 2e Build of him was PL 9 (!!), but reading the WCA appearance of his squad, he failed to hit anybody, then took one of Hawkeye's arrows to the chest (his arm was bumped), killing him in grotesque fashion (he flailed around and reacted like a real person would, creeping out The Avengers team).

I have been off for a little bit and had pages and pages of glorius reading to catch up on! Here are my comments:

1) Who would be the most powerful Lantern? A White Lantern? Volthoom?

2) While the name "Volthoom" drives you crazy, there are other DC ones like "Kathoon" (the world Night Girl is from) and "Ulthoon" (the name of the Tornado Elemental). Marvel even has the "Badoon" which is similar!

3) Was Volthoom more powerful as a human or when he was in the ring of Power Ring?

4) Could the character Power Ring do so much more than we ever saw with his, er, Volthoomian Power Ring?

5) Marvel sure likes similar names too. For instance besides Modred and Mordred there is Nicodemus and Necrodamus!

6) The Zodiac Cartel!

a) Did the originals have action figures? That pic looks like figures I have never seen before!

b) Yeah, the human Virgo did get Wanda a few times before she hit and hexed Virgo as Wanda put it owed "doubled and redoubled".

c) The first android cartel gave the Defenders a hard time with Taurus really winding up Valkyrie almost to a warrior madness if I remember correctly.

d) Interesting Note: In the Avengers, Taurus (Van Lunt) had secretly teamed with Klaw and Solaar, and in his human guise was "blasted" by Solaar (not really, just a heat-created illusion). Wanda used her Hex Power in the first time healing someone! But later in the issue, we learn it was just an illusion. So just what did Wanda's hex do?

-The third Sagittarius was created by the LMD Scorpio to replace Hawkeye on the Avengers West Coast team. As such, he packs much of what I would consider to be "1980s Hawkeye", becoming a PL 9 over-pointed Archer (mostly thanks to his Immunities). He was able to equal Hawkeye shot-for-shot (they kept hitting each other's arrows out of the air... this is rather difficult to do in real life), and was able to trounce PL 8-ish Mockingbird, but an LMD Tigra and Mock handily defeated him once they realized he was a machine and they could go all-out.

Volthoom was retconned into being the First Lantern, a guy wearing a mega-power-ring the Guardians based their power-rings off of. Volthoom was a dimension-hopper, and was powerful enough with his ring it took several Oans to imprison him. The betrayal drove him mad—-though he WAS going down a road BEFOREHAND—-and is actually beyond death, now, having been connected to the entire electromagnetic emotional spectrum for over a billion years!

-The Ecliptic Zodiac Sagittarius was the only one to be an ACTUAL CENTAUR, which is incredibly rare in superhero comics. He was a semi-Powered Archer (able to injure armoured opponents easily enough), so I made his Bow a Device.

1) Who would be the most powerful Lantern? A White Lantern? Volthoom?
Volthoom was apparently world-ending in power, so probably him. I left his powers and such blank for a reason, though- he's just vaguely "Can do anything, whenever, at any level".
3) Was Volthoom more powerful as a human or when he was in the ring of Power Ring?
4) Could the character Power Ring do so much more than we ever saw with his, er, Volthoomian Power Ring?
Yeah, I'm not sure. The only comic I've ever read with Power Ring was him dying in Crisis on Infinite Earths #1.
5) Marvel sure likes similar names too. For instance besides Modred and Mordred there is Nicodemus and Necrodamus!
Yeah, their Wizards in particular suffer from this, as none of them end up very famous and so the next guy is invented without anyone recalling the first. Modred is almost certainly named after the Arthurian character, but then someone comes up with the ACTUAL Arthurian character and now you have two of these dinks. At least their powers and concepts usually end up being different.
6) The Zodiac Cartel! a) Did the originals have action figures? That pic looks like figures I have never seen before!
No, those are custom figures somebody has made.

The Zodiac

THE ZODIAC
Created By:
Kevin Grevioux & Paco Medina
First Appearance: The New Warriors #4 (Nov. 2007)
Role: One-Off Losers
Group Affiliations: The Zodiac

-Oh man, what a bunch of doofuses. These guys were just some random band of guys formed by the most recent Scorpio, all given powers that were unexplained, and they attacked New York. They fought off a team of rookie Initiative recruits and the NYPD, despite having only ten members (Scorpio wished to find people to fill the role of Capricorn & Gemini, aka "so we realized we had to invent TWELVE GUYS and ran outta time"). Fought by the new New Warriors squad (de-powered mutants using gear to give themselves new abilities), they started winning, but the heroes fought back and chased them off. And THAT WAS IT for this team, as they were assaulted by the One-Man Zodiac, simply to free up the name, and every single member was killed and decapitated, with their heads kept as trophies. See, this is why you don't let new, untested writers just invent massive new teams wholesale like this- you muck up things with way too many people and the next guy comes along and renders them all meaningless.

Zodiac Members:
* Yes, there were only ten members- Scorpio said he "hoped to find a Gemini & Capricorn".

AQUARIUS V (Akira Kiamata): Beaten by Skybolt and frozen in ice.
ARIES VI (Horst Brandauer): German guy with a goat-skull mask. One-shotted by Tempest with a fire blast.
CANCER VI (Shira Myles): An Israeli woman who had crab-clawed armor and LITERALLY GAVE LONGSTRIKE CANCER during their fight. The young hero died, and her brother Phaser lashed out, blinding Cancer & Libra.
LEO V (K'Beer Okoye): A huge Nigerian man who was easily beaten by Night Thrasher (Donyell Taylor).
LIBRA VI (Michele Michaels): A blindfolded American woman who had a dagger & staff, and could absorb and redirect energy blasts. Blinded by Phaser when Longstrike was killed.
PISCES VI (Dmitri Kantov): Russian fish-man. One-shotted by Tempest's fire blast.
SAGITTARIUS V (Karen Trudeaux): A French archer. Beaten by Decibel.
TAURUS V (Roberto Ferrar): A huge Mexican dude in a horned helmet. A stray blast from Scorpio knocked him out after he was holding off Decibel & Wondra.
VIRGO IV (Tamara Sims): American woman with no powers shown. Taken out by Skybolt.

Okay I was literally finished with these guys and then checked Comicvine wondering why there were sometimes guys with different costumes, and it turns out that there are TWO MORE ZODIAC GROUPS, each one sharing twelve brand-new characters, lol. So, uh, this will take a bit more and then I can move on to builds for Raya and the Last Dragon.

Hilariously, these two extra groups add sixth and seventh characters to most of the Zodiac titles, with Aries of all characters being the only name shared by more people than the Red Guardians & Crimson Dynamos. Best of all, the Marauder Aries and the "Spider-Man book Zodiac" Aries showed up IN THE SAME MONTH- November 2015.

The Zodiac (Thanos's Group)

THE ZODIAC

Brian Michael Bendis & Mark Bagley
First Appearance: Avengers Assemble #1 (May 2012)
Role: One-Off Losers
Group Affiliations: The Zodiac

-Yeah, so THANOS created his own Zodiac, too. They're said to be ambitious people who wanted to conquer the world, and used suits supplied by Thanos to gain super-powers. Thanos wanted them to steal different powerful items and remove them from Earth, thus restoring balance to the cosmos. They managed to escape capture at first, but tried to get the Ultimate Nullifier from the Helicarrier and Iron Man hit them all with a sonic disruptor that broke their costumes and rendered them powerless. The Helicarrier was blown up by Thanos to cover his escape, likely killing some of them (though half weren't even on that mission). Again, they're one-offs who seem to have never appeared again, despite nine years having transpired since then- they were even friggin' REPLACED only three years later! The only pre-existing character was John King, who was The Hood's right-hand man for a time.

Zodiac Members:
* None of them have many powers listed- some are just "some normal-looking person".

Image

AQUARIUS VI: A giant water-guy. Aquarius escaped the Hulk in the issue's big early fight scene.

Image

ARIES VII: A humanoid ram.

Image

CANCER VII (John King): The Hood's cousin, and closest confidante. Wore big crab armor.

Image

CAPRICORN V: Some guy with a Van Dyke goatee. No powers listed.

Image

GEMINI VI: A bald, muscular guy with some glowing energy in front of his chest.

Image

LEO VI: A big, hunched-over lion-man with a mane along his back. He had a heart attack and died while fighting the Hulk, and his suit's energy allowed Iron Man to figure out how to de-power the others.

Image

LIBRA VII: An attractive redhead in a green costume. That's it- that's all that's known about her.

Image

PISCES VII: A demonic-looking fish-guy with glowing eyes and a glowing mouth.

Image

SAGITTARIUS VI: Some normal-looking guy with a handlebar mustache.

Image

SCORPIO VI: A muscular guy with a scarred-up left eye.

Image

TAURUS VI: A giant snarling bull-man.

Image

VIRGO V: A winged lady with fiery hair.

The Zodiac (Vernon Fury's)

Post by Jabroniville »

Image
Image

THE ZODIAC
Created By:
Dan Slott & Giuseppe Camuncoli
First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #2 (Oct. 2015)
Role: One-Off Losers
Group Affiliations: The Zodiac

-OH MY GOD THERE'S ANOTHER ONE! This Zodiac was formed by Vernon Jacob Fury, grandson of the original Scorpio. Desiring the secrets of the Zodiac Key his grandfather had told him about, Vernon grabbed it for himself. Becoming a rich man with an alias, "Vernon Jacobs" became the biggest investor and shareholder in Parker Industries, a company founded by Spider-Man. Naturally desiring world domination, Vernon formed his own Zodiac, actually gathering members along the way, controlling them via the Key- he simply used it to transform people into his minions.

-Spidey eventually found him out, as the villain opened the "Zodiac Dimension", where he hoped to absorb a year's worth of knowledge of future events- Vernon was knocked into it entirely and trapped there for an entire year- thus rendering all his information useless. All of his minions were then freed. However, Vernon was freed with an hour to go, and so attempted to make use of what he knew, and used the Zodiac Key to empower some device. Spider-Man defeated him by deducing his link to the Key could be used against him- he knocked Vernon off a tower, and the Key detached from the device to go save his life. Vernon was thus KO'd by Mockingbird and arrested.

Zodiac Members:
* Most of them don't have any powers listed at all- Scropio VII seems to have just "created" many of them by waving his Zodiac Key at normal people, turning them into his minions.

Image

AQUARIUS VII: An armored woman with gauntlets that could control water.

Image

ARIES IX: Had a ram-mask on. Hilariously, this is the NINTH CHARACTER NAMED ARIES, and the name is so common that the eighth Aries, one of the new Marauders, DEBUTED IN THE SAME FRIGGIN' MONTH! That is absolutely insane.

Image

CANCER VIII: Appears to be a computer expert. Man in a crab-mask (as in, the mask looks like a whole crab).

Image
