Total: Abilities: 52 / Skills: 4--2 / Advantages: 2 / Powers: 28 / Defenses: 4 (88)

-A safety inspector at the Roxxon Energy Corporation, Daniel Jermain fell into a vat of chemicals (how do you get more Standard Comic Book Origin than THAT?) and gained super-powers that quickly became more of a burden than a blessing. Unable to control his own strength, he hurt his wife and nearly wrecked his own house. Without insurance, he was quickly going to go broke... and so he decided to sue Roxxon via She-Hulk's law firm (Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg & Holliway)- he won $85 million. That's pretty much it for tangible appearances. He's a classic "Huge Power/No Experience" type of guy, hitting a very low PL despite his power.

Dodge +12 (DC 22), Parry +10 (DC 20), Toughness +4, Fortitude +6, Will +5

Complications:
Motivation (Pragmatism & Altruism)- Jazinda started off being merely pragmatic, hunting bounties as a means to survive. Eventually, she began turning more towards helping people out of a need to do good. However, as a Skrull warrior, she will still kill if she needs to. "I am no hero".
Relationship (Super-Skrull- Father)- Kl'rt appeared to hold no love for his daughter, and was prepared to kill her out of honor once she abandoned the empire to save her own life. However, he chooses to spare him, telling She-Hulk "tell her any reason other than love".

Relationship (She-Hulk)- Jazinda often teases or jokes with her only real friend- it is implied that Jaz has some romantic feelings towards Jen.

Total: Abilities: 68 / Skills: 38--19 / Advantages: 12 / Powers: 41 / Defenses: 12 (152)

-Yes, ANOTHER "Good Skrull". They officially outnumber the evil Skrulls by about five to one by this point, I reckon. Jazinda is the daughter of the Super-Skrull, having lost two homeworlds- one to Galactus, and the other to the Annihilation Wave. While on a mission to prevent an artifact from falling into the hands of the Kree, she swallowed it- thus being granted superhuman powers. With the Skrulls hunting her for the artifact, she abandoned her people and ended up on Earth as a bounty hunter, where she paired up with She-Hulk (who'd then been disbarred and needed a new job)- she started off pragmatic and serious, but grew altruistic out of appreciation for Earth's culture (and specifically, her relationship with Jen). Out of shame and honor, her father announced his decision to kill her. Only She-Hulk's desperate pleas and reasoning gets to him, and Super-Skrull allows her to live. Later, she's about to be dissected by the American government, nearly proclaiming her love for She-Hulk before she is rescued by the Lady Liberators (a gathering of female supers). She hasn't been seen in some time- she was one of many aliens booted off of Earth in a S.W.O.R.D. Limited Series.

-Kind of a Skillmonkey mixed with a Bounty Hunter, adding all that Skrull Stuff onto the build makes her very pricey for her Power Level.

Someone needs to flip this lone wolf from an evil race destined to protect a world that misunderstands me but onnits head. Create an alien villain who comes from a race of Ultra-Nice Lawful Good Paragons of Virtue and is the one evil member of the kind.

Jazinda wasn't nearly as annoying as someof these Drizzt-types, but unfortunately, being yet another example of the Skrull Gone Good means your always going to get tarred with the bad rep of the other 24,601.

Nope; the Viltrumites are a race of interplanetary conquerors. Ultra-Man and Invincible are part of the "Good Guys from an Evil Race" trope... They're one of the better done examples, but they're still part of it.

Responsibility (The Wendigo Curse)- Anyone who eats human flesh in the wilderness of Canada will immediately transform into a giant, white, furry monster.
Involutnary Transformation (Human Form)- Wendigos will reverse to human form if they leave Canadian soil. Except that time they ended up in Las Vegas.
Disabled- The Wendigo is unable to speak, except a wild "Wen-Di-GO!"

Total: Abilities: 56 / Skills: 42--21 / Advantages: 20 / Powers: 45 / Defenses: 15 (153)

-The Wendigo is a recurring Hulk foe that has since gone on to become a "general Marvel Universe menace" instead- he rarely even interacts with the Green Goliath these days, instead getting involved with Wolverine, The X-Men and Alpha Flight. He debuted in a Hulk issue as a Canadian menace- a creature formed when a man fed on human flesh, as per Native Canadian mythology. The monster ran around Canada, killing and eating people, until the Hulk faced him. Eventually, the two brawled enough to gain the attention of a certain Canadian special agent- a yellow-clad man who would later go on to change comics forever. But here, The Wolverine was just a minor threat against the two behemoths, and eventually KO'd by the Hulk. When Wolverine later gained popularity as a member of the All-New X-Men, the Wendigo appeared against him in a comic also involving Alpha Flight- in the story, Wolverine & Nightcrawler both came up short against the monster, and he was defeated when Snowbird took the form of an ACTUAL Wolverine and tore into the beast.

-Various other Wendigos soon began appearing, sharing no links to the earlier creatures (who were just random civilians for the most part)- they were essentially well-recognized "Journeyman Villains", doing battle with Alpha Flight, The Hulk, Werewolf By Night, Sabretooth and others, always with the distinctive cry "Wen-Di-G-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O!!!" He appeared in more modern times in a popular Todd MacFarlane run of Spider-Man which featured Wolverine defending him when a "mysterious killer" was up north, as Spidey was investigating as part of his Daily Bugle stuff. The story features a lot of exaggerated MacFarlane art (which was HUGELY popular at the time), but the actual tale was a mess- Spider-Man, and later Spawn, were both infamously terrible, pretentious drek until Todd actually got real writers to help him out. It turned out that a local pedophile was abducting and killing boys, then having his dogs chew them up to fake animal attacks.

-A Wendigo later appears as the "Yeti" of Weapon P.R.I.M.E., but so little work was done for this in X-Force that the two are essentially completely different- the Yeti jobs to low-end characters like Feral, and even TALKS in the infamous Northstar Limited Series. Perhaps his poor performance is because of what seems to be a Control Collar around his neck (similar to what many other animalistic characters are given when they want to put them on superhero teams).

-Modern comics include Wendigos as entire TRIBES, showing up to fight the Red Hulk, and a huge horde overwhelms Canada in an X-Men arc that was ended only when they teleported the whole army out of Canada- this instantly shattered the rules of the "Curse". They faced the Hulk again, then Avengers Academy, taught at Kate Kilgore's "Hellfire Academy", and one showed up as part of "Alpha Strike" in the Pak/Eaglesham Alpha Flight reboot, though he wasn't really a major part of the story (you don't even see how he was beaten!). One was also killed as part of Canada's new "Omega Flight" in Hickman's Avengers, as Regina (famously sounds like "Vagina"), Saskatchewan is destroyed by one of those "Life Pods". Honestly, it's hard to think of a more widespread and commonly-used villain in modern times, short of guys like Norman Osborn (dominated Marvel for quite a while) and Doctor Doom.

-So in all, it's kind of a failed concept. A government-controlled giant monster that can tangle with The Hulk is pretty cool, but one that can't even beat a low-class Wolverine knock-off kind of takes the wind out of it.

-The prime Wendigo's a beast- a PL 12 monster with Regenerate, so he's unnervingly hard to actually put down and kill, despite his PL 10 Toughness score. He's enough to fight The Hulk alone for several rounds, losing only if Hulk full-out Rages and shatters his prior caps (usually around PL 11-12). He's pretty cheap on account of having pathetic mental abilities (he's basically an animal that can speak his name), but he's got a TON of Feats for a Powerhouse build, mixing the Animalistic & Powerhouse Templates together to create a super-heavyweight monster.

Its interesting that while he battled the Hulk in his first appearance, Wolverine used his "Best there is at what I do" line. What was he the best at? Why, hopping around like a rabbit, of course.

I thought what he did best was boost sales of any book he made a cover appearance on?

Goldar wrote: Tue Feb 21, 2017 3:37 pm The Headmen were "good" villains when they first appeared in the original Defenders series. They were good foils for the Defenders of that time who were not overtly powerful.
Which iteration of the Defenders was that? I tend to think of Hulk, Namor, the Surfer, and Strange as the Defenders and, well, "not overtly powerful" is not a phrase I'd apply to any one of the four, never mind the group.
The Headmen first encountered the Defenders, approximately in ish 31, if the old mem'ry serves (right after Tapping Tommy).

The Defenders had Nighthawk, the Barb Norris's Valkyrie, Doc Strange, Tanya Red Guardian and pay for hire Luke Cage, who was only about Val's earthly strength level back then. Old Jade Jaws was with them, but would often leave abruptly.

Hulk went down fighting Ruby. Hulk did not beat the entire team of Headmen. Doc Strange was having big power troubles and fluctuations.

Good stories issues 31-39 and a plus sized issue. I believe the only real win the Defenders had was that last issue of the story in plus sized issue.
With The Headmen, I get the impression that their silly appearance (CLASSIC Gerber/Englehart weirdness) combined with the fact that they next appeared in the silly She-Hulk book conspired to make them jokes. It's hard to be taken seriously when your team includes a flowing bag of skin and a gorilla with a human's face.

Like Emma Frost's diamond skin, that was a secondary mutation that only manifested much later.
