-These things are basically like Elephants, but ornerier- they charge anything at a moment's notice, but back down if the opponent doesn't run away and stands their ground. Their ultimate moment comes when "Eywa" hears Jake's plea for aid, and a bunch of the suckers single-handedly turn the tide of the battle, one of them squashing the most commonly-seen soldier (ie. Elite Mook) in his Walker Mech like a bug with a huge charge. Statistically, they're like my Elephant build, plus a whole bunch of mass (they're the size of Elephants... proportionately compared to a ten-foot Na'vi), a harder charge, and many ranks of Impervious Toughness. That means that regular automatic fire will bounce off their hide like rain, rendering them one of the most impervious animals around.

-Thanators are the most hardcore land predators on Pandora (that's been seen so far, anyways), being huge, six-legged cat things that would've beaten Jake pretty bad if he hadn't escaped. It comes back at the end of the film to help out the heroes, offering itself as a mount to Neytiri when her Ikran is killed. Cameron has been plotting to use a creature like this in films for decades- an early '80s script called Mother featured a "Skraath" alien beast of a similar nature, later renamed a "Manticore". Cameron himself came up with the color scheme and visual design, making others call it his "baby".

-Statistically, it's much like my Giant Lion build with some extra bits, as a PL 9 super-killer. The Avatar Wiki even suggests it may have Echolocation or some other ability to detect prey from 13 km away.

-The Ikran are sacred (well, EVERYTHING is sacred to these Native American stand-ins, but whatever...), being the mounts that most Na'vi must tame at some point in their lives, forming a lifelong spiritual bond. They're gigantic (being Riding Mount-sized for 10-foot humanoids) winged pterosaurs, essentially, so I just modified my Pteranodon build with some added poundage, Protection, etc., making it a fierce PL 7.5 predator. Jake & Neytiri's Minion-level Ikran fit this PL 8 standard, but most tend to be a little lower in level (just reduce Accuracy) to fit the lower-level Na'vi.

its interesting seeing that in the design elements most of these creatures have 6 legs or more as a conscious design choice I wonder what the philosophy was in that regard

Probably "nothing but insects has more than 4 legs on Earth so this will make them look really alien"

yeah, Cameron wanted it to look as alien as possible, and not just copy Earth stuff but make it a different color... so of course they still had a horse, cat, elephant and pterosaurs but at least they all had multiple limbs and much different faces, lol. And then the Na'vi, which have a Tseyhalu connection with all of them via neural spines, but grew to be humanoid with breasts on the ladies because fanservice :).

-The Great Leonopteryx is the BMF of the "Avatar" universe, being essentially a super-sized, mega version of a common Ikran. Only a few have ever been tamed, and always by a "chosen one" who unites all the tribes, so guess what happens? Like I said, almost no trope went unused for this movie, but it uses them all WELL. I did kind of find it amusing that they made such a big deal out of the Ikran, then showed a SUPER version of them, thus making the regulars look weak. This was like a video game universe come to life.

-The Leonopteryx is something like fifty feet long looking at the pictures of Jake (a 10-foot Na'vi hybrid, mind you) riding him and barely being as long as the creature's skull. Overall it's a lethal PL 11 (PL 10 defensively, because it's such a large, relatively-easy target despite being a flier), doing +14 damage and having +13 toughness.

Okay, so here's some ideas for upcoming build sets, since we're in the middle of two short ones. Time for another JUICY POLL!!

I'll mix "Re-Posts" in with all-new sets just to see where the interest lies. Please list your top three choices in order, if possible.

Superman: A full look into the Man of Steel's cast of characters. I've statted the big name heroes and JLA members, but not at Echoes, save for the ones who became Legionnaires and Titans (ie. Superboys & Girls). I was a bit shocked at how many fewer people wanted to see these compared to GL & Batman Builds.

Iron Man: This completes the VAST, vast majority of Marvel characters yet to make their way to Echoes yet. I'm almost done posting them!

Sonic the Hedgehog: One of the more focused groups of Video Game sets I did in the past. This will include the "Animals With Attitude" that followed in Sonic's wake, plus a bigger look into the terrifying fandom that surrounds him. Including THAT GUY. If you don't automatically know who I mean, consider yourselves lucky.

Dead Or Alive: The 3D Fighting Game that hit the XBox and some other systems- primarily known for "The One With The Big Swinging Titties" but also has some good gameplay. But mostly people remember the titties.

JSA & JLA: The DC builds I did way back are now quite a ways a way.

Martial Masters: A "Romance of the Three Kingdoms"-themed Fighting Game. A modern anime style and an interesting cast.

Archie Comics: It's from the last year I was on Ronin Army, so not as far away as SOME, but I'm curious how much people would want to see them again.

Ultra Vortek: Another awful Mortal Kombat knock-off. Always fun to dunk on those.
