-Gorr is an agent of the High Evolutionary on Counter-Earth, and pretty much just looks like a golden gorilla, and skipped out on all that "Armour and Weapons" junk and grew super-huge and kicked ass. It was claimed that his Growth power only came in to play because of Earth's oxygen levels, though this makes little sense (Counter-Earth is basically just like regular Earth), but since we haven't seen this guy in years, it doesn't really matter.

-Inheritor is an evolved Cockroach who immediately started talking down to his peers, and was booted out of the High Evolutionary's club. He ended up on Earth, where he fought The Hulk for a while, but eventually lost his powers thanks to a Radiation-Absorbing thing, and he ended up turning back into a Cockroach. He's a fair bit different from the other New Men, in that he's a Thing-level Powerhouse who can fight The Hulk for an issue.

-Count Tagar was one of the first New Men, and the one most frequently-used in stories. He was more noble at first, but started fighting the High Evolutionary once he abandoned his charges to create the New Immortals, and was beaten into a coma as a result. He nearly died, and he hasn't been seen in years. He's one of the few PL 10 New Men, packing Class 10 level power once he got a dramatic boost in ability by dousing himself in the Pool of Knowledge.

-Lady Vermin is what you'd expect- a Rat with sentience, a jet-pack, and a rocket-launcher. Okay, that's probably NOT what you'd expect unless you were INSANE, but let's give 'em credit for being original, huh?

Yeah, these guys have a tendency to look like an army of douches at times (even Jack Kirby made them look dumb), as Animal People Are Hard To Draw In Comics (the realistic style of most comic book artists doesn't jibe well with Anthropomorphic characters)... but stick an artist who REALLY knows what he's doing on there, and you can create some awesome designs. Look at Zootopia or something for people doing stuff like that RIGHT.

-Bova is an interesting little character in Marvel-lore, in that she's arguably the most notable New Man character, despite having no real combat skills. She was on hand for the birth of Magneto's children Pietro and Wanda, and she's shown up here and there in a nursemaid-like role before.

-God as my witness, I have never seen a single piece of art that makes this character look anything other than completely ridiculous. What with his over-sized mouth and Quasi-Furry appearance, which is probably why he's not as well known as most Lee/Kirby creations from this time period. The Man-Beast pops up pretty much every time Adam Warlock returns from the dead (like 40 times or something), or the New Men show up, as he's the recurring foe of both.

-He was an ordinary red wolf "Uplifted" by the High Evolutionary, but is overexposed to the process once Thor gets involved, and he grows into an ultra-powerful, but hateful, monster. The creature, initially called the Super-Beast, is shot into space by Thor, but ends up on Counter-Earth on the other end of the Sun. Here, as the Man-Beast, he corrupts and attempts to conquer the planet, only being defeated by Adam Warlock, under the direction of the Evolutionary. Later, when the Hulk arrives on Counter-Earth and gets involved, the Man-Beast executes Warlock. Later, however, Warlock resurrects and devolves the Man-Beast back into a wolf. Later, he is restored, and returns to Earth disguised as The Hate-Monger, sponsoring the Legion of Light cult headed by Brother Power & Sister Sun- here, he is stopped by Spider-Man, Razorback, and Flash Thompson. Trapped by an explosion, he takes many years to regenerate. He then fights The Avengers, then a resurrected (again) Warlock and his Infinity Watch (he steals four of the Infinity Gems in the process), and is finally reverted back to a wolf (again) by the High Evolutionary in the Quicksilver title. He has yet to reappear.

-Silly-looking but powerful, the Man-Beast is more of an "End of Mission" guy, and can't beat the heroes in straight-up fights. The issue with him is usually the fact that he's the head of an entire ARMY of animal people.

She's called Snow Queen, she's the sister of the new men's White Tiger who was a member of the heroes for Hire.

Well she certainly was redesigned in the last cartoon appearance of her (https://www.shadowlordinc.com/character ... er.Id=1647), i mean in the comics she just looks like a large rat, so ask you how evolved is she compared to the other Knights.

-The High Evolutionary is a classically-weird character. He's a genius far beyond any other human (even Reed Richards & Victor Von Doom are beneath him- THEY never created an entire freaking planet), looks like a tool, and switches between "Galactus-Challenging God-Like Might" and "The Hulk or Thor Can Beat Him in Melee" at a rapid pace. He's generally used as a mysterious scientist figure, and is often entirely dispassionate or outright nasty, such as when he tried to set off an Evolutionary Bomb on Earth (the Evolutionary War cross-over). And yet, he shows inklings of caring for his creations, takes care of the sick and ill (such as Magda, the mother of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch), and a strong sense of mercy (he never killed The Man-Beast, who frequently tried to murder him). However, this seeming complexity often comes across as "Inconsistent Writing", as a lot of these appearances come at random. Hell, this guy is so sparingly-used at times that the next writer just defaults him to the last-known position.

-The High Evolutionary was once a normal man, living in 1930s Oxford, England. Obsessed with genetics, he met up with/was inspired by a few characters created much later (Nathaniel "Mr. Sinister" Essex and an Inhuman geneticist), he creates a serum that allows him to "evolve" animals into humanoid form. He moved to Wundagore Mountain in Transia alongside his partner Jonathan Drew (the father of Jessica, the first Spider-Woman). When Jessica grew ill, she eventually gained super-powers, and Drew's replacement was the future Jackal, Dr. Miles Warren. Eventually, he would create his new minions, The New Men.

-Eventually, Wyndham took the name "Lord High Evolutionary" after teaching his people courtly manner and copying England's old system. His New Men were taken over by the Super-Beast (later Man-Beast), and Thor aided the Evolutionary in beating him. Later, when he abducted the Hulk for his experiments, he was fatally-wounded by his own people, and forced to use his own "super-evolution" experiment, which transformed him into a powerful, godlike being. Initially disgusted with himself and willing himself out of existence, he instead returned and created Counter-Earth, running on the other side of Earth's Sun. He would give Adam Warlock his trademark Soul Gem in order to "redeem" the corrupted Counter-Earth, and would later save the life of Galactus, even after the Devourer of Worlds threatened to consume the planet Wyndham had built. He was later killed, then resurrected, during a story involving multiple heroes against The Beyonders (unrelated to Jim Shooter's Beyonder character). He was stunned by his inferiority to these beings, and eventually Counter-Earth was put into stasis.

-Later appearances by the Evolutionary take on a much more villainous context, as he becomes an unstable, vengeful, evil character.  He is suicidal for a while, but when that failed (he was too powerful to kill permanently), he instead decided to take a "direct hand in molding the future of humanity". During the "Evolutionary War", he faced every single Marvel hero during that summer's Annuals, resulting in a LOT of setbacks, as each hero was victorious (one Marvel Card even cracked wise about how he'd lost to EVERY Marvel Hero after a point). His growing insanity grew out of control, and Quicksilver would eventually discover the source and the Evolutionary would devolve back into a regular man. In this more benevolent form, he helped the X-Men take on Mister Sinister, during a story in which the "Mutant Gene" was abruptly shut down and then reactivated (an event that indirectly slaughtered all of The Neo). Subsequent appearances of the character seem to be in his "antagonist" mold, as he kidnaps many characters, tries to take over certain areas, and more- though he did aide the heroes during Annihilation: Conquest against Ultron's forces. Eventually, Rick Remender used him in his failed, pointless second Uncanny Avengers series, where he recreates Counter-Earth, and is seen creating, then killing, cycles of animal-people on his homeworld, leading the Avengers Unity Squad to ally with the rebellion against him. The art was terrific, but the story was pretty terrible, featuring a classic "Mary Sue" villainous combo of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch; then the ULTRA-pointless Retcon of the Maximoff twins's origins as Evolutionary creations instead of Magneto's children. This was his most recent appearance.

-The High Evolutionary's stats can be practically anything- you could give him Variable, or even make him PL 18 or something, and it'd probably have SOME basis in the comics. I chose to go with "Above Thor, but not so insanely bad that Thor could never win", along with a TREMENDOUS offering of powers (Permanent Duration Transform AND Devolving!).

The Rangers

THE RANGERS:

-Here's a team I've been meaning to get onto a new thread (both this one and the Ronin Army one) for a while- The Rangers! Basically a grouping of the lame Southern-U.S.-based heroes, the Rangers are a bunch of stereotypes and goofy concepts, which is just perfect for statting. Word of explanation, though- when I was a kid (Grade Five, I believe), the school system would occasionally trot out some "Canada Only" comic books starring Spider-Man. They were all moral tales (written by JLU's Dwayne MacDuffie & X-Men's Scott Lobdell!) where Spidey was temporarily in Canada on assignment, and he'd end up fighting a super-villain while some kid learned an important lesson. One featured The Chameleon, another had Electro and a gang of drug-runners (that featured Electro getting defeated BY A CHILD who fired a rubber puck at his head- an excellent use of Canadian Physiology).

-The most spectacular though, was the one that was given to my class after we completed our "Bicycle Safety" day at school (do schools still have those?). It had Peter Parker taking pictures at the Calgary Stampede, when it gets invaded by the Frightful Four (The Wizard, Dreadknight, The Trapster, and the Man-Bull) who try to kidnap a physicist. The Rangers are there to help, but get captured. Helping Spidey out are the RIGHT-RIDERS, a group of kids who teach & preach bicycle safety (wearing helmets- with cool early-90s reflective decals of course, pads, making sure their bikes are oiled, proper hand-signals, etc.), and a new Canadian super-hero named TURBINE, the daughter of the kidnapped physicist. Who of course is Handi-Capable! (tm) because she's in a TURBINE-POWERED WHEELCHAIR. Such awesomeness is hard to properly describe in detail, but here goes:

Awesome events:
-The Phantom Rider being defeated because he chased Dreaknight around a corner and got poked once.
-Shooting Star being outwitted by that genius, The Trapster, and captured.
-The Right-Riders defeating THE WIZARD by ducking Trapster's blast of glue.
-A pre-pubescent girl defeating The Dreadknight by smacking him with her Flying Wheelchair.
-A mini-comic insert where a kid mocks another for practicing bike safety, before immediately having his entire bike fall apart with wires & bolts spraying everywhere.

It... it was brilliant. And its cast must be statted.

-Texas Twister here is a goofy cowboy superhero who just happens to have Tornado powers. A big handlebar mustache and generic Texan accent of course accompany him in his weird cowboy uniform. He's been rarely seen since he's so inherenly from the "old school" philosophy of "Ethnic" superheroes who are stereotypes of their region, but he's nonetheless one of the most common "Tornado" based people in comics, since it's one of the least-used power-sets of elements (alongside Storm, Thor to a limited extent, my girlfriend Cyclone, and Red Tornado).

-The Twister was created by Roy Thomas, who shopped him around to an arc in another book after his debut- he was one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Super-Agents and was one of the rare ones to NOT turn evil immediately! He gained his powers from being in a tornado next to a nuclear power plant (you know, the traditional way), and had a pretty big focus on getting PAID for his work- he refused to join the Frightful Four when he discovered they wouldn't pay him to join, and later joined a traveling rodeo, where he met his future partner, Shooting Star. Later, he joined The Rangers in the Hulk's book, under Bill Mantlo, becoming one of many "permanent background characters" in the comics. He and his team meet up with the West Coast Avengers when he made a deal with a demon to get his fading powers back (when he begs to be spared by the demon, it infests Shooting Star instead- only his love for her can break the possession), then take a LONG break until they ally with the Right-Riders and Turbine, alongside Spider-Man. The Initiative briefly uses the team as Texas's Initiative squad (more or less keeping them intact as a squad), and they also team up with the "Kaine" Scarlet Spider in his own solo book.

-Surprisingly, Twister isn't all that bad. A big part of that is a 120-foot TORNADO that he can summon at-will, with himself either at the centre, or powering it from far away. That thing is quite powerful, but Distracting, and he has a bunch of Alt-Effects based off of it, from the common Deflect to various other Area Effects (Line, Shapeable) for getting in those pesky cracks. He also has a base Move Object, and a Wind Blast that isn't an Area Effect, so he can use Power Attack with impunity on it, making him rather versatile. He's only PL 7 defensively, so he's still vulnerable (the Wizard once easily defeated him by throwing a "Gravity Disc" onto his chest and then throwing him into a wall), and he's a bit under-Advantaged, but still capable.

-Shooting Star's costume is the most notable thing about her- she must be one of five female characters in comics to have some variant on the Captain America design- and they're almost all blonde! Characters like American Dream, Yankee Poodle (Captain Carrot & The Zoo Crew) & Stargirl, now this one... It's a cool design, but a weird thing to recognize. She's pretty minor (in terms of "I'd never have known she existed if not for that Free Give-Away Comic where Spider-Man teams up with The Right-Riders to defeat The Frightful Four"), and very under-powered, but here she is.

-Star debuted five years after Texas Twister, having been paired up with him on the rodeo circuit. Her father is a wealthy Texas oil baron who gladly funds her performance career (himself having been into it in the past), even building her a specialized set of six-shooters that shoot paralytic star-shaped "bullets". She joins Tex in intercepting a radio call for the Avengers by Rick Jones, and help the Hulk defeat The Corruptor. She was briefly taken over by a demon, but threatened to commit suicide to break its control- the demon then possessed a statue. Shooting Star has proven to be a very minor character- easily the bottom-tier member of her squad in terms of importance. She even jobbed to THE TRAPSTER in that Spider-Man giveaway I talked about- he formed a human-shaped pile of paste, distracted her with it, then zapped her with a Constricting Paste Snare that made her pass out from lack of oxygen.

-Minor character, and very under-pointed, but it fits. I mean, this is a woman who was out-witted by THE TRAPSTER. That's right, PASTE POT PETE managed to pull one over on her, capturing her with ease via a sneak attack. That embarassment aside, all she is is a fairly-capable "Gun Chick", using slightly more powerful guns (though my "Right Riders" comic features "Electro-Magnetic" Guns, most bios give her "Paralyzing Shooting Stars" just like Courtney Whitmore has- a weird case of characters who don't share origins or even homages turning out with the same abilities). Vaguely Rodeo-oriented Skills & Advantages, but no Power Attack. She's good at shooting regardless- not up in the Hawkeye (or even Boomerang) class of accuracy, but she's still PL 8- I don't see her fitting the Falcon/Stingray/Mockingbird brackets just yet.
