Concept is cool, build is fine. I liked lightsaber's weaken toughness effect; it allows the character have a destructive weapon without lowering his attack.
I can't claim credit for the lightsaber construction. Somebod on the old ATT had a Jedi Padawan build that used it. 2e version, so it was Drain instead of Weaken, but still. I think it's extremely effective at demonstrating what a lightsaber actually does (cut through tough materials easily) without needing so many damage ranks that accuracy becomes non thematic for a supposed expert sword fighter. That scene in Phantom Menace where they're cutting through a blast door? This can probably do that. If a cutting laser for Batman or whoever can be effective at one rank, five is going to be nasty.
I remember those. The power was called Corrosive, I think, and is a Linked Damage/Weaken Toughness and using it for lightsabers was a brilliant move. There was a ranged version called Disintegration as well that you don't see as often.
That's right and it was from the Ultimate Power sourcebook ... and found it

CORROSION
Effect: Damage, Drain, Affects Objects
Action: Standard (active)
Range: Touch Duration: Instant
Saving Throw: Fortitude/Toughness Cost: 3 points per rank

Your touch causes matter to weaken and corrode. Living targets make a Fortitude save. If the save fails, subtract the amount of the failure from the target’s Toughness save bonus, up to a maximum of your power rank, before inflicting damage equal to your power rank. Nonliving objects lose Toughness equal to your rank automatically and suffer damage according to their lowered Toughness score. Damage is inflicted whether the target loses Toughness or not. A living target’s Toughness save cannot drop below –5, an object’s can drop to as low as –10. Living targets recover lost Toughness at a rate of 1 point per round. Objects must be repaired.

POWER FEATS
• Reversible: You can remove and repair damage caused by your Corrosion power at will as a free action.

EXTRAS
• Area: An Area Corrosion effect automatically affects every-thing in the area around you. This can be problematic, to say the least, when it comes to things like floors, walls, ceilings, and even the ground! To be most effective, you should apply the Selective Attack modifier to an Area Corrosion effect.
• Range: A ranged version of Corrosion is the Disintegration power.

Who was the inspiration for the Cold-Controlling Songstress archetype? Not sure I've encountered that one in comics, legend, or literature previously. And forgive me if I'm underestimating your ability to simply come up with a completely original variation all your own.

Sorry I haven't commented as much as I'd like on this or your other thread, there's been a lot of extended family responsibilities lately, and honestly I've just found my head swimming with too much personal stuff to do whenever I'm not at work.

All my best.

My brother in humanity, it's not a who but a what. The art I link at the end of a given build isn't just for fun. Inspo is short for inspiration. The name of this particular pic is literally Ice Bard Angel. See?

http://sangrde.deviantart.com/art/Ice-B ... -540752466

I admit some of them are age locked now, which is genuinely weird to me as all of them meet PG-13 standards. But Ice Bard Angel isn't age locked. Have a look, it's good art.

I've always liked this one. The guardian of a magical library in an alternate dimension and her powerful magic book. Even without it, she has Artificer and Ritualist with a maxed Expertise Magic bonus. The only downside here is that Targeted Areas don't exist in 3E, so her cap altering advantages are useless without a power stunt. Well, if someone uses her than could swap out an AE or two for something single target I guess. Another option is the making every Magic Spell single target, and including Takedown 2 in Enhanced Advantages. It would save some space for some Impervious on that Force Field. But regardless, I still like her a lot. It's a cool concept.

And so we reach the first one where the points just kind of explode over the limit. I know what I should do. Backslap 5 points out of every skill but Acrobatics and Close Combat, then add a feat or something with that extra point. I just don't want to do it. 3E haaaates skill monkeys. Sigh.

There's an optional rule that I've seen somewhere to have skill points be more than two per power point. Hero Lab lists the options as 3 per point, four per point, or five per point, IIRC. I'm not sure what rulebook they got it from, but it seems like a good option for skill-monkeys in 3e.

This one is a bit of a misfire. The whole idea is that the AE's belong to her and not the Bow. Like, she could pick up any bow and probably do these shots. So either she's technically 3 points under because Herolab doesn't have an option to just add AEs outside of a device to a power in a device, or I'm being silly and should put the AEs in the device and add a Restricted (only usable by self) Feature. Bleh, I'm moving on as this one's dud adjacent.

Much better. Immortality, swordfighting, and lots of fire. Hell, yeah. Note her ability to heal herself. The Immortality is much lower than in 2e for points reasons, which hurt. Then again by default rules sudden death is far, far less likely. So I suppose it works out.

I've seen this attempted :

Archery Tricks [10 + 2 pp]

Hail of Arrows: Burst Area Damage 5 (DC 20; Burst Area: 30 feet radius sphere, DC 15, Increased Range: ranged; Limit : requires bow)
. . Poison Arrow: Damage 5 (DC 20; Alternate Resistance: Fortitude, Increased Range: ranged; Limit : requires bow )
. . Stunning Shot: Cumulative Affliction 5 (1st degree: Dazed, 2nd degree: Stunned, 3rd degree: Incapacitated, Resisted by: Fortitude, DC 15; Cumulative, Increased Range: ranged; Limit : requires bow)

This is a power than can ONLY be used if she has access to a bow. Any bow.

Kind of like a magnetic force controller having a Snare that requires metal from the premises to bend around their target.

Electric Burst is literally only there so she has a way to do damage. She'll probably get much more mileage out of possessing something nearby and attacking with that. Hey Mr. Battlesuit Guy? Got a spare she can borrow?

You could probably justify giving the SCP non-abilities in STR and lowering their Awareness by 1, reducing their point total by 12 points, then spend the last point to boost their Will to 10 or give them Insight +10 and Perception +10.
