-The idiotic Rak is pretty much the "Beast-Man" of Anton Hellgate's minions- a big stupid moron prone to stupid behavior. He was last seen being hit by a car, without Hellgate around to cure him. Marvunapp notes, however, that his bulletproof anatomy should have made that a minor injury at best.

-Choam only appears in a single issue of Ghost Rider- the hero strangles Choam with his chain, and is distraught at having taken a life... at which point Choam recovers and assaults him once more. GR finally ties him up and leaves him for the authorities. He never reappears. I figure him for being slightly more balanced towards accuracy than Rak.

-Ripper was the latest creation of Hellgate's, and acted as a bit of a flirt (she wanted to caress Ghost Rider's "bald head"), and a crazy chick with claws. She disappointed her boss on a couple of occasions, but by her third issue (the final one of Ghost Rider), she was killed along with most of Hellgate's crew when Vengeance exploded.

GOD this series is dated. Like, I've read Nicieza's X-Men & X-Force, Image Comics and more, but Ghost Rider is some special kind of dated. Image is at least STUPIDLY dated, making it fun. Ghost Rider just feels kind of SAD.

-Dread wields a powerful Sword (a later version has a "Molecular Disruptor" that can mess things up further), and acts as another recurring Anton Hellgate goon. He is frequently defeated, despite a boastful nature, and was killed alongside Ripper when Hellgate fatally exploded.

Hellgate's crew is so weird, because it basically reeks of last-minute desperation- it seems clear that Mackie was running out of ideas, and thus threw a bunch of stuff into the Ghost Rider book to give it some more longevity- the old villains were turfed, and in their place came this generic crime-boss and his costumed crew of baddies- Image-style losers all, and packing generic looks and costumes. The fact that their main baddie seems to be the "Venom" of the Ghost Rider book- Vengeance- furthers this.

Total: Abilities: 64 / Skills: 34--17 / Advantages: 21 / Powers: 21 / Defenses: 14 (137)

-Blackout's just one of those guys- Ghost Rider needed a full-on Rogues Gallery to coincide with his solo resurgence in the early-'90s, and hence we had a guy like Blackout for when Deathwatch wasn't available. Basically looking like a vampire, and possessing a Darkness Field that dampens all light in his immediate vicinity, Blackout's a psychotic murderer, killing a ton of GR's supporting cast (including his comatose sister), and generally being that type of '90s villain where the "Hero That Kills" trope is actually valid and necessary. He's pretty much a bad character, though- just a meaningless monster who does nothing but kill and destroy.

-Blackout debuted working for Deathwatch, killing a cop and his entire family, then exterminating MORE police officers, then (after Ghost Rider had burned him with Hellfire) exterminated Danny Ketch's sister and a few other supporting cast members (even a Morlock named Pixie)- generally, he's a disgusting son of a bitch. LITERALLY, as it soon turned out that his mother was Lilith- the new GR rogue. Eventually, he was killed by Blade after being impaled through the eye. He later returned with all the other Lilin, but this was it as a serious push for the villain- what was once a guy who appeared on various Marvel Cards was now a background nobody. One final story involved him tormenting a reporter into committing suicide (he'd discovered that she knew Ghost Rider's secret identity), leading to Ghost Rider burning him to death while chaining up him up on the World Trade Center.

-With Ghost Rider dying as a concept, and gaining new villains during various returns, Blackout was unneeded... until he popped up out of nowhere breaking out of prison along with dozens of other guys (including the also-dead Cutthroat) in the first arc of Bendis's Avengers run, then appearing as a background loser in The Hood's army after that. It was explained that he was arrested BEFORE burning to death. He pops up there, and occasionall in new Ghost Rider books as a guy who teams up with other villains- he's not worth a solo look at this point. He's been beaten by holy-water-infused bullets, taken out by the female Ghost Rider, and more.

-His most recent appearance is in Spider-Man, where he kidnaps Aunt May in order to rebuild his reputation. This is to get Peter Parker ("Spider-Man's Tech-Designer") to hand himself over in exchange. Parker, now possessed by Dr. Octopus, arrives in Spider-costume and beats the hell out of the villain, tricking him with an electrified metal collar around his neck, then torturing him for hours- forcibly ripping-out out his claws and teeth. Blackout, in agony, BEGS to be left alone, which is pretty cathartic after reading about him killing all those innocent people, and Ock-Spidey agrees- telling him to "spread the word" that "Peter Parker is off-limits".

-Blackout's actually a pretty serious threat, having PL 9.5 attacks on him, plus a nasty Blackout Field power. He's man enough to go toe-to-toe with Ghost Rider, packs some nasty physical abilities, and is quite the melee fighter, judging by his Advantages. He's pretty limited to fighting at night thanks to his Weakness, but is otherwise a good threat for many characters. Nowadays that Ghost Rider's kind of an unsuccessful character, Blackout's more likely to be involved in mass-combat scenes and being drummed out quickly- but this suits his more potent '90s incarnation. Now, he's probably a PL 9 flat-out.

-In a particularly bizarre instance, Marvel felt the need to make an All-New, All-Minority Ghost Rider... right before going Back To Basics on it, then putting ANOTHER minority, from the same ethnicity no less, into the role. GOD, comics are weird.

-So Alejandra Jones is a Nicaraguan girl raised by Adam (the Biblical one) in a tomb until she was eighteen. Adam wanted to undo sin on Earth by removing thought from mankind. She is empowered as the new Spirit of Vengeance, slaying both Blackout and Deathwatch, but is defeated by Sin (the daughter of the Red Skull). She rejects Adam's attempts at wiping out free will, and Johnny Blaze takes her on as a student. Soon, she kills Adam and goes off on her own. She engages in a four-way-Crossover with Red Hulk, X-23 and Venom (Flash Thompson), fights Adam in Hell, but when he's destroyed once more, she is transformed back into a human after falling into a pit of Hell Lava- the curse transfering back to Johnny Blaze because... I dunno, he shot her to save a box full of souls and magic happened. Her book cancelled, the character effectively disappears, especially as Marvel's Agents of SHIELD TV series creates a new Affirmative Action Ghost Rider. We'll probably see her again, but she's probably done forever as an "important" character, as not only is the "Ghost Rider" concept no longer a big deal, but she's been replaced by ANOTHER character, meaning she'll suffer from "Crimson Dynamo Syndrome" of having too many successors diluting the concept.

-Alejandra is very much a low-rent Ghost Rider, lacking the Penance Stare but having a similar "Soulfire" attack that does the same kind of thing, but as a Blast. She can also create a Hellfire Kama, and summon a swarm of Hellfire Locusts.

I kind of like the idea of Hellfire Locusts because it's very Book of Revelations from the Bible and since GR has always been based on a pseudo-biblical premise...I dunno, I find it very appropriate.

-So, because comics are weird, we have a NEW All-New, All-Diverse Ghost Rider- this one ALSO Latino, but a male- one of a group of minority or female Legacy Characters over the past couple years. The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series features this one, which means he'll probably stick around for at least a bit before Blaze makes another failed return. This is bizarre on multiple levels, as he replaces a character only three years old in the role. He also looks like a robot, and apparently drives a car. He was street-racing to help raise his handicapped brother Gabe, but was shot because of some pills that were left in his car, and was reborn as the new Ghost Rider. Turns out there's a spirit linked to the car- the ghost of a man named Eli Morrow, who was slain by gang members. However, Eli is revealed to have been Robbie's estranged uncle, and a serial killer (who caused Gabe's disabilities by pushing Robbie's mom down the stairs when she was pregnant)- Johnny Blaze arrives on the scene, and uses the Penance Stare on Eli.

-Robbie & Eli fight for dominance over Robbie's body while fighting Mr. Hyde (the source for those pills in Robbie's car)- Robbie finally has to agree to bond with Eli, with the caveat that he'll only satisfy Eli's bloodlust on evil souls. I'm not sure how much the character even appears these days (only three years after his debut), but he's apparently "popular with Latino readers", according to Wikipedia.

The Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider wasn't created for the show. His comic book debut was over two-years before his first appearance in Agents of SHIELD (May 2014 vs September 2016).

And that's it for the Ghost Rider builds! One I'd been dreading but looking forward to for like a year or two, as I was fascinated to finally figure out the whole story on the Lilin (why I didn't just look them up BEFORE doing this set is beyond me; I don't decide how my brain works), but feared having to look through the mess that is the history of these guys. Four Ghost Riders since the 1970s, variable power-sets, strange origins (it's Satan! Now it's Mephisto! Now Blaze fights Lucifer!) and a lot of REALLY dreary, depressing characters. Every time I picked up a GR back-issue, I find some horrible villain is torturing people to death and reveling in their pain, and I'm like... "who wants to READ books like this?" Especially since the bad guys kept getting away, because GRIM & GRITTY.

But yeah, I'm happy to be done with The Lilin, and to FINALLY have a series of Atomic Think Tank builds drawn over here- I don't have a LOT of ATT builds remaining (most of them now are God-characters, because that's another one I kept putting off), owing to a pretty steady set of re-posting over two-ish years at Ronin Army (odd that it was so short a time, actually)- due to my distaste for the GR character, I was putting off both of them (and I didn't want to research the newbies, either), thus also keeping Deathwatch, Lilith, Hag & Troll and Blackout all away. So yay for finally getting my anal-retentive "To-Repost" list a little bit closer to being finished!

Upcoming Stuff:
* Terrordrome! aka a Fighting Game made with Horror Movie characters, resulting in my first builds of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Leatherface and a bunch of guys I've never heard of! With Special Commentary by HalloweenJack, who loves that stuff! And my commentary, which features me repeatedly going "I never saw this" or "I saw this! Only because I was promised there were boobs, but I saw this!"

(Let this be a lesson: I can and will do requests if you do literally all of the work, research and commentary for me :))

* ClayFighter! Another set I've been CONSIDERING doing for literally years (at least since 3rd Edition was announced), but finally got around to. I'm almost done the characters after going off-and-on for a bit, and WOW is that a slog. Made more annoying by the fact that I could probably screw tons of stuff up and literally nobody would notice.

* Marvel- The Letter "G": Because I WILL FINISH THIS if it kills me :). This one's about eight days worth of guys, though most are ones I'd never statted, so "notability" might be an issue with some of them. I'll try to keep "one comment-worthy guy per day" with them.

Also I'm almost done converting Mega Man characters into 3rd Edition (a LONG slog of a process!). At some point I'll have to start posting those, maybe take a break, then stat up Mega Man X (which I promised to do literally in 2011). I also wanna FINALLY stat up Marvel's Gods, which is another huge bunch of ATT-era builds to move over (my "A" section for Marvel looks so sad, lacking Athena, Artemis, Artume, Atlas and others).

Though I DO have a build for Stan Lee out there. One would imagine he'd be lonely without his most popular colleague :).

The idea of Ghost Rider driving a car has to be one of the worst "change things up" decisions I've seen in comics.
