-Googoo is a pretty bad character. The "Giant Baby" thing doesn't really have much to it, and the fact that he's foulmouthed and a skirt-chaser just makes him a rip-off of Baby Herman from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. In his finale... he creates a nap centre in the middle of Mudville. That's about it.

-Spike is a darker Googoo with a purple bonnet & diaper. Personality-wise, they're the same, but Spike is brattier. Some of his strike animations are a bit different, and his moves are as well- he has an Anti-Air and a Multiattack move.

-Blob is one of only three characters to make appearances in every game in the franchise, and one of the best examples of what you can do with claymation- a completely morph-able character, turning into various shapes for all of his attacks. The master of Goojitsu, Blob turns into boxing gloves, boots, anvils and more. Unlike the other ClayFighters, he had no prior form on Earth- he was formed from the very radioactive goo that was in the first Clayterian meteor to hit Playland.

-Blob's signature attack is the Buzzsaw, in which he transforms into a sawblade that hits multiple times. The original game had a glitch where if you blocked the move, it would do even MORE damage! This was fixed in the Tournament Edition update.

-Blob fights by transforming himself into stuff, from axes and jackhammers to a literal horse's ass. His Buzzsaw attack is a Multiattack, and the third game adds in a "Police Brutality" variant with multiple batons (this was around the Rodney King incident, as he shouts "Put down that camera!"). In the finale of ClayFighter 33 1/3, Blob is instrumental to the gang's survival- he morphs into an AIRPLANE, flying the rest of the ClayFighters to freedom. This kind of stuff makes him much pricier than the others, despite his limited mental capacity (which only really becomes a thing in the third game).

-Slyck looks too much like Blob for my liking- I mean, any conceivable color combination in the world they could've gone with, and they went with "Slightly different shade of green"? He has similar moves to Blob, but his Multiattack is actually the stomp. In his finale, he eats all of the buildings in Mudville.

Defenses:

Complications:
Motivation (Winter Wonderlands)- Bad Mr. Frosty wishes to convert everything into a permanent winter, because he likes the cold.
Enemy (Santa Claus/Sumo Santa)- Santa never gave Bad Mr. Frosty the rocking horse he wanted when he was ten, but still ate the milk and cookies left out for him. Frosty has sworn revenge.

Total: Abilities: 50 / Skills: 20--10 / Advantages: 8 + 7 / Powers: 20 / Defenses: 12 (107)

-Bad Mr. Frosty is clearly the signature character of the entire ClayFighter franchise. He's one of two characters (Blob is the other) to appear in all three games in the series, he was on the cover of the first game, and he gets redesigns in each one. It's also very clear that the most thought went into his design- Tiny is just an ugly guy in wrestler undies, Bonker is just a clown, Helga is just a busty chick in a tights and a helmet, Blob is just a blob, Taffy is just a stringy guy, and Blue Suede Goo is just an Elvis Impersonator. Bad Mr. Frosty has uniqueness and an actual STYLE about him- a construction that makes him appear to be more than a simple "snowman". The stick fingers, frowny face and his limbs made of snowballs make him a little bit "more". He was very unbalanced in the first game, packing a "Side Swipe" move that took off a third of the enemy's health. The execution was kejiggered (a "hold down" Charge Move, unlike most cross-screen attacks), which made it a bit more balanced, but it was weakened in Tournament Edition.

-The second game in the series gives him a revamp in terms of appearance and attitude- now, he looks like a gangbanger with his stove-top hat swapped out for a backwards baseball cap, and his backstory consists of him having invaded the North Pole, then getting imprisoned for assaulting "Santa Clauz". The results of that tournament are unknown, but its stated that he defeated his Alter Ego, Ice, helped see Dr. Kiln off, and realized that he was too much of a hot-head to "function coherently" around others, leading him to finally "chill out" and take up the side of Good.
I don't think little blonde haired Karen is going to be singing and dancing with him at Christmas time! LoL!

KANGOO
Role:
Nice Girl
Game Appearances: ClayFighter 2- Judgement Clay

FIGHTING 10 DEXTERITY 0
INTELLIGENCE 1 AWARENESS 1 PRESENCE 2

Skills:
Acrobatics 4 (+8)
Athletics 6 (+8)
Close Combat (Unarmed) 2 (+12)
Perception 2 (+3)

Advantages:
None

ClayFighter Fighting Style:
Accurate Attack (Quick), Defensive Attack (Block), Fast Grab, Improved Critical (Unarmed), Improved Trip (Throw), Power Attack (Brutal), Withstand Damage (Trade Defenses For Toughness)

Powers:
"Whirlwind Punch" Strength-Damage +2 (Extras: Multiattack 4) (Reduced Defenses -1) (4) -- [6]
  • AE: "Dashing Punch" Strength-Damage +2 (2)
  • AE: "Outback Uppercut" Strength-Damage +2 (Feats: +2 to Hit Jumping Opponents) (3)
"Animal Senses" Senses 3 (Acute & Extended Scent, Low-Light Vision) [3]

Offense:
Unarmed +12 (+2 Damage, DC 17)
Special Moves +10 (+4 Damage, DC 19)
Initiative +4

Defenses:
Dodge +10 (DC 20), Parry +11 (DC 21), Toughness +3, Fortitude +4, Will +5

Complications:
Responsibility (Hates Hurting Others)- Kangoo's conscience often gets the best of her; she attempts to patch up people she's beaten, and wants to give up fighting, but her fans won't let her.
Responsibility (Hates the Sight of Spilled Clay)- Kangoo isn't very good at medicine- she looks away when she sees spilled clay.
Relationship (That Joey)- Not mentioned in any of Kangoo's biographical information is the fact that an infant kangaroo, wearing boxing gloves like her, resides within her pouch.

Total: Abilities: 46 / Skills: 14--7 / Advantages: 0 + 7 / Powers: 9 / Defenses: 12 (81)

-Hailing from the second game only, Kangoo has a heart of gold, and hates to hurt people. Sweet and humble, she has a first-aid kit in order to patch up people who lose to her... though she often just makes things worse, since she always turns away at the sight of spilled clay. Her stage is truly horrifying, as you face her in a boxing ring overlooked by gigantic, Uncanny Valley claymation critters that only have two or three frames of animation, making them chillingly realistic herky-jerky monsters. Her original name was "Kanga".

Re: Jab's Builds! (Norman Bates! ClayFighter- Taffy! Bad Mr. Frosty!)

Post by Ares »

Okay, some folks might have noticed a post or two has been edited or moved. That was me. I decided to edit Jab's post so that it just links to the topic he mentioned rather than re-post it here, and then moved the posts responding to it over to said topic. If you want to continue that discussion, do it over there.

-A creature from the Ethereal Plane until the Clayterian Meteor hit Playland, Ickybod (originally going to be named "Ghost Guy") has one of the coolest designs, though he openly apes Tim Burton's style so much that it's hard to avoid comparisons. Like most of the original characters, he missed out on the sequel, but returned for the final incarnation of the series, where he was now really scrawny and hunched over, looking even more inhuman.

-Unlike most Fighting Game Bosses, this guy only made an appearance in the debut ClayFighter. His design is actually pretty unique and interesting- he's a large circle made up of shaded balls of clay, giving him a very "3-D" look compared even to the others. He's extremely hard to fight, as his defenses are top-notch, and he can lash out with a mimic of the Blasts of any other ClayFighter. Curiously, the game lacks narration of his name, so the stage is oddly quite silent at the beginning (the announcer usually says stuff like "TAFFY!... versus BAD MISTER FROSTY!"). His name is a pun on both M. Bison from Street Fighter, and the phonetic similiarity of his name to "End Boss".

-N. Boss is two Power Levels higher than the other fighters, but was defeated in canon by Tiny, so he's not THAT elaborate. His Blasts are more accurate than other fighters because they can be quite unexpected (you never know if you'll face Blue Suede Goo's Humming Attack or Bad Mister Frosty's Snowball), and his defenses are quite elite for a guy who takes up a large chunk of the screen.

Total: Abilities: 52 / Skills: 34--17 / Advantages: 10 + 7 / Powers: 44 / Defenses: 12 (109)

-Bad Mr. Frosty was the signature character of the first ClayFighter game, but C2 instead chose to focus on the new character Hoppy- a muscular, Terminator-style bunny rabbit. He appeared in a lot of the advertising and screenshots, meaning he was one of the only C2 characters to return for the final game in the series. Here, Hoppy had been mortally wounded in the last tournament, and was turned into a killer cyborg by the evil Dr. Kiln.

-As Hoppy, he's much like Bad Mr. Frosty, but in the final game, he's a bit stronger, turning into more of a powerhouse with an additional move or two, like a punch with Reach on it.

I wish I could comment more on these builds, but Clayfighters was apparently one of the only fighting games I never got into. Hell, I even played World Heroes on purpose.

I will say that if they were going for that kind of design with the rabbit character, I'd have gone for a Rambo pun myself, like Rabbo or Rambit. Or make him a literal ram and have him be Rammbo.

Yeah, I knew it'd be a bit iffy to see a lot of replies here. Despite the success of the series, it seems less well-remembered that even stuff like Primal Rage. It's just one of those quirky, weird things that I always wanted to do. Hell, my very first comment when I started these was to bring up something I said AGES ago, right when 3e came out, that "Some people want to stat the big stuff; I want to stat ClayFighter".
